Very happy with the swimming program here. I’ve been taking it for a while and wow, it has always been a great experience. I had no prior experience going into Swimming, but the excellent teaching made me adapt very quick to the water, and overall, I’m a lot better now thanks to the YMCA

The gym is never open anymore I go to school and it ends at 3:30 and the gym opens late at 9:00 pm. I gotta go to bed for school so I can't be there that late. I hate it that's the only reason I go it to play ball.

Best gym in this part of town. Very friendly gym members who greet you and have great gym etiquette. YMCA staff is even more welcoming and willing to help you with anything you need. When I was new to the area and the gym, the staff pointed me in the right direction. This is not just any gym, you can swim, play sports or attend classes all for a cheap membership. Better deal than the crowded options I've seen elsewhere. Plenty of locker rooms, people of all ages. I've never been intimidated at this gym ot have I felt ripped off. I used to hate taking the trip to gym but the Y feels pretty refreshing.

Only have babysitting in the morning. My babies nap in the morning. All baby-friendly activities (i.e bouncy castle) are taken down in the afternoon. So far I am paying too much for a family plan that doesn't suit our needs.

Nice place to workout or play basketball (almost everyone only plays basketball there). The weight room is a bit old but well maintained. Some showers and lockers need to be replaced or fixed. There is a play area for younger children.

This is my family’s favourite Y in the city. We live in the middle of The Elmwood and Fermor YMCA’s. We always seem to pick this one. The parking is horrible, but it’s a busy area. The pool area is always spotless, and the workout area are never too crowded. Our children love the pool. There is a family pool that is much warmer than the average indoor swimming pool. The steam room was a nice surprise! There is a small indoor play structure which is perfect for little ones. All of the staff seem very friendly! As well, the children’s day care for 5 and under is fantastic!

The pool seems to be a lot less maintained than the Portage one. The water at Portage is clean and clear and here it was milky. Good place to hit the gym though.

For $24/bi-weekly (adult) this place is an absolute steal. Full service gym. Multiple workout rooms. To the guy complaining about no soap in the showers, bring your own damn soap.

It's a little run down in places and could certainly be bigger, but it's a good service to the community, my wife enjoys the classes, I use the gym regularly, the equipments in great shape, everything is clean and the front desk staff are always friendly.

This place is great for swimming and training. Indoor running track on top of gymnasium. Separate room for free weights and frames. Massive cardio room with lots of machines and a decent size steam room. Vending machines for snacks and also what looks like a creche. (Not sure on that tho)

The sauna is rather small. Can accommodate at most 6-7 adults seated. There is also a hot tub. Swimming pool is separate from the kids pool. There is a gym and studio, as well as running track and weights.

Came here just for the play structure. It was a great change for my kids. There are toys on the wall as you come in. My kids were entertained the whole time we were there. Facilities were clean but I had a difficult time finding the washroom through the change room.

I love the Y. This Y however is always dirty, the lifeguards fail to follow protocol. People who did not shower entering pool sometimes in their underwear, Parents entering the pool area in their outerwear the dirt of the shoes getting dragged into the pool. Disgusting. Once pointed out the lifeguards did deal with the issues. The issues were fixed that day, however this is a weekly battle and it gets old fast.

The front desk lady was amazing. Very helpful and informative. But the behavior of the youth in both the pool and locker areas was atrocious. Very uncomfortable. Staff need to be more assertive and keep the atmosphere friendly and safe. The profanity and yelling and threats from kids bullying other kids. Horrible. I spoke to the Male front office person. I expressed my concerns and hope to see a positive change next visit. Heres hoping.

As long as you don't have to lift weights this place is ok . Bizarre proportion of cardio machines to weights.

Their equipment is kind of archaic, front desk staff are cold and lethargic, they really don't care. Their showers are really filthy they maybe clean it once a week. Their steam room is super small plus half the time theres no soap in the shower. Their fitness equipment keep breaking all the time just buy a new one maybe they wouldnt break as often. Its all about money there. It's like they hate their job. One red headed employee commented to me:"So, where's your small people's?" I complained to the Manager about this and he said he'd talk to the employee about it but I never heard back, whatever happened. Look on YouTube, the the Y has quite a few instances like this. All people of varying ethnicities need to be treated with respect. Not making snide comments no matter how small or tall they may be, which is no concern to anyone.

Great family plans and classes for kids. They have great adult classes, workout options and child care. I love the staff they are so friendly. The only thing I think needs improvement is playstructure supervision. My 4 year old daughter got badly injured going down the enclosed slide, 2 older boys 10+ were climbing up. They really should have someone supervising at busy times. I know it is the responsibility of the parents to watch their own children. Quite a few parents don't. Some of the older unsupervised kids aren't following the rules, knocking over smaller children over, climbing up slides while kids are going down, climbing over and under the netting and getting under the areas where they shouldn't be. At the moment there are 3 Children not wearing socks. Really it is dangerous, there should be at least one person supervising when it is busy ????

I take my son swimming here and have always found the staff extremely helpful and they always greet us at the door. They have been wonderful in dealing with my numerous changes involving membership and payments, and haven't once let me down in the customer service department. My only complaints really are that there is always a wait to get changed, there are not enough restrooms in the special chance room, and I have on occasion seen some shady men in there. Overall I am satisified with my experience and find the YMCA to be a perfect place for recreation with my son.

I am giving this place 5 stars regardless of what I say cause I like the place, but I warn you when I say be careful going, I was their on Monday and saw atleast 5 people their take off their mask for atleast 5 mins, this one person was in a bike a machine and had it off the whole time if you can't workout under the conditions required dont go, stop making things worse for everyone else, and if no one tells them anything then they will be known as the place that lets people not wear masks. Help yourself by helping everyone else and WEAR YOUR MASK AT ALL TIMES LIKE THEY TELL YOU.

Clean place. Nice staff. My kids and I enjoy the swimming programs and the instructors are great with the kids! The main Pool is a little cool for the children. The "family/kid" pool is nice. It is warm and not to deep. Just deep enough the kids get a solid swimming feeling, but the floor is close enough that they feel safe. The play structure (climby tower-as per my kids) is in good shape. Lots of fun structures in the tower. Good benches for the parents, water fountains are close. They have hand sanitizer for the kids. And they sell kids socks if you for get your. All in all a fun place. There are usually groups of teenagers playing sports, people in group workouts, and gym peeps lifting weight and cardio. All shapes and sizes.

Been going here for years, It's got everything you need. Can be packed at times but it's easy for me not to go at primetimes. Only complaint there's no shower curtains for the mens showers but there is for the women which is a little strange if you ask me. The steam room is the best part of this YMCA, got most of the essentials for weight lifting and plenty cardio equipment.

We called to register our kids for swimming well in advance. They told us even though I wouldn’t get my vaccine card on time I would be allowed to drop off my kids. I went there with them for the lesson and they told us we were not allowed without a QR code ????. Called in the next day to see if they would apologize for not keeping their word and let our kids recover the missed lesson but there was absolutely no consideration. The guy on the phone told me it was on us that our kids missed the lesson ????. Tried to reach the manager, left a voice message. Tried reaching the director, left a voice message. None of them called back of course. We’ve been paying membership for a while already and still dealing with horrible customer service.

I signed a contract in which days the membership fee was supposed to be withdrawn from my account. After 2 months they started taking funds out 3 times a month not twice. After my child’s swim lessons were over...I canceled the membership then!!! They still took funds out. I even put stop payments on my cheque! My bank told me places like this scam all the time it’s such a low amount no one notices. And to boot the bathroom in Change room was dirty the showers were to. Horrible seating to watch your children swim. Beware!!!

The staff have discriminated me, an Asian, and an 11 year old aboriginal suffering from autism for 6 years. They have singled out the aboriginal child on every activity. Avoid this facility at all costs.
