Worst staff ever! We were talking to one of the staff member to cancel our membership and asked politly may I speak to manger to further discuss this(About cancellation of our membership )- staff member keep on saying- rudely and in Attitude“U ARE!!!”, We asked again- she said“U ARE” Asked third time ”U ARE TALKING TO MANAGER!!!”—- instead of saying “I am the manager in this facility(professionally)”. They do not know how to speak to customer in appropriate way and in professional manner. Key points I want to target: unprofessional, untrustworthy, rude…list keep on going.

It’s a nice gym -really big and lots of machines. One of the receptionists was nice. Why one star ? Thanks to the receptionist S——itha. It is frustrating when you are trying to explain something and the receptionist acts like you are an idiot and is condescending, not even apologetic or understanding. Also I called before and was told I had to come down in order to get a promotion. A 40 minute drive later and i am told i don’t qualify. Here they would not allow me the special intro price eligible to folks who have never paid for a personal trainer despite never having signed up nor paid for any classes myself. One of the receptionist was apologetic but the one who told me to drive forty minutes down because the deal might expire tomorrow didn’t even apologize, just exasperated “you don’t understand!” On top of all this I must have spent 20 minutes sitting at the desk and had even already signed the paper work and had my credit card out when S——itha waltzed in to put a stop to the deal and to condescend me.

I regret ever getting a membership here. So much stress and runaround just to cancel. Do not lock yourself into this stress. The only thing staff seems to be good at is upselling membership fees with trainers and locking people in. This is also what I've seen and heard from many other past Shapes members. Worst customer service as well. (if you want to cancel of course, not if you stay).

Me and my wife was tricked into the a more expensive membership on 25th of June. About a week later, we realized we didn’t need all the extra stuff requested to downgrade our membership. We didn’t get any response via their corporate email. The employees were very rude and refused our request. They told us we only has 7 days to make changes and they can’t do anything beyond 7-day period. When asked if we could speak to a supervisor or manager, the lady who helped with registering our membership told us again that they cannot help us. And lied about leaving a voice message explaining the whole situation, which she didn’t. This place has lost our business and we advise anyone to stay away from this place.

I love all of the options available with the group fitness classes, a large variety of fitness machines, hot yoga classes, clean change rooms with a VIP option, friendly staff and a number of excellent instructors! Upon moving I was present as an employee named Dayna indicated and attached to my file a letter of intent to cancel my membership at the end of my contract. Paid the fee in January cause I was having a rough go financially at the time. Haven't heard anything since then until this morning when I checked my bank account and surprise Shapes had removed a membership fee. I have not signed anything indicating a renewal of my contract since I am in Ottawa now and have been for 14 months. With all the shadiness surrounding this company I am surprised no one has intiated an investigation into this company and they haven't been slapped with any fines. The only good experiences I had were with my trainer and with one of the receptionists. Other than that it has been abomomable.

I have been a member of the shapes pembina location for 2 years now, visiting the gym 3-4 times a week. The women's only side is one of the only gyms I found I could really be comfortable at. I really enjoy the gym and its facilities. What I don't enjoy is the treatment by staff. In the past few months the staff have cracked down on pass policy and having it present, understandably so. However, my pass has been "away" for an unforeseen reason out of my control for the past two weeks. Each visit I explain repeatedly why I dont have it, when I'll have it back, and apologize (and say it to the same staff who already know my situation) then I receive my regular scolding. I have asked to have my file memo'd and have even offered to purchase a temporary pass but have been told no. The staff have made it so uncomfortable for me, a long term member to come to the gym without my pass that I may consider taking my business elsewhere. I do understand it is policy, but such animosity between members and staff, and being talked down to as a 27 year old adult is an experience I don't pay to endure.

Would definitely recommend for their group fitness clases. They are really high energy and are great for all fitness levels. The first class I tried was Group Blast, even though I have never done a step class before, it was really fun and not super difficult to follow.

Shapes Pembina is a top notch fitness centre. Sylvia is an excellent manager with great knowledge and interpersonal skills. Kinga is incredible! Her vivacious energy and friendly reception make everyone feel welcome. The fitness instructors are so amazing running fun and innovative classes. I LOVE the access to hot yoga included in the membership. All staff are friendly and so helpful. The equipment is consistently cared for and updated as required. The new lounge and massage chairs are the icing on the cake at this gym. For a most economical and positive experience you need to come here!! A truly professional and healthy environment!

Recently I have been going to Shapes Fitness Centers on Pembina Highway in Winnipeg. I have been tagging along with my daughter for a few weeks now. What an inspirational Place to be. Staff is very friendly, and really helpful to somebody new to this type of exercise. Instructor was on her game and kept us all motivated and moving. Good clean gym with quality equipment, Love the fact that the workout is always different, easy yet effective. I am looking forward to next week already!!

I want to share my experience with Shapes. I signed a contract a year ago and the representative explained me the contract. That the contract for year and it’s going to end at day that I finished my contract ( my friend who signed with me same day at different location had the same speech explanation about contract rules).My fault I believed to the representative and didn’t read the contract.The manager Shay and Lisa the cleark at head office told to me like I am own them something. Both of them didn't even make an effort to listen to me. Speak with me in same time. Never met so unrespectful staff at customer service.It’s not about money. It’s about that Shapes decided to put their hand in my pocket without asking me and take an extra money. The request to reimburse me Shapes decline. The head-office manager doesn’t understand why they need to reimburse me.Even though they know I am not using the gym any more.I believed to representative at the time I signed the contract. . And to the end of the story. Someone else can signed my contract ( my husband did it for me) but!!! To"protect customers" in these days of technology I can’t cancel the membership by email! Only in this particular company because the last gym that I canceled my membership via email.Do I need to waist my time t go to gym physically when I should be able to do that online. And last but not least important to cancel the membership take to Shapes 30 days! Press the button on keyboard takes to Shapes 30 days. 30 days extra money! Never back again. I have been going to Shapes Pembina for many years. It has become a second home. I love that they have changed to a 24 hour gym. They also have a new lobby with massage chairs, a very nice addition. Shapes Pembina has a variety of different machines and many different areas to workout in. The staff at Shapes Pembina are very nice and helpful. Unfortunately this gym suffers the drawbacks that many gyms suffer from, members that do not understand how to re-rack their weights. Weights are spread out around the gym and many machines still have weights left on them appearing as if someone is still using it, when there really isn't.

Very good staff and fully equiped, but the policies are designed to rip us off of hard earned money. Not on one but on two accounts the supervisor had to say that yes our employee could have been more responsibile while dealing with your scenarios although we still won't be able to refund the money that we have charged you. Ohh yes, and they don't even have any one to talk to here in Canada about all the tissues we have to call their head office in states via a number which is not even tall free, so you're welcome to spend money in order get some back.

I've heard bad things about this gym but I gave it the benefit of the doubt, unfortunately I've just found out the hard way that they are TERRIBLE at dealing with contract issues. After my one year contract was up, I called to make sure it would be cancelled and was told it would do so after one month, which was fine. What they didn't mention is that I had to come in and sign something before that one month cancellation would kick in. If I hadn't called a second time to inquire about something else, I would have been stuck continuing to pay until I noticed it on my bank statements again. They suggested I call head office, who was just as UNHELPFUL as the Pembina staff. I certainly would NOT recommend this gym to anyone looking for friendly staff and simple contracts. If you like fine print, this gym is for you. I have always felt that the staff was judging every person who came through their doors, and again, had heard the same thing from several other people who tried Shapes out. Might I suggest they call people when they are approaching the end of their contract to ask if they would like to continue, something so simple could go a long way for this business.

Not satisfied with the customer service provided, as it was the very first day and wanted to take the membership, booked the appointment as well at the specified appfor the time as i knew due to covid, but the staff was not ready to listen at kept saying NO to join the gym. Very dishonest and shameless company. Asked me to sign up a 1 year contract without proper notification that the contract was not cancellable in the mid of it. I have to pay all the way until the end. What makes it even worse was that when I contacted them to cancel the auto renew at the end of my membership which is in September 2021, they said my membership was auto extended to the Dec 2021, since the during the pandemic they closed for 2 months, I have to complete 26 payments (13 months) anyway, even on the contract my official terminating day is on Sep 2021! They insisted that on the contract it states I have 26 payments in total and biasedly ignore the contract terminating date. The negotiations with the stuff there regarding my contract issue during the past half year were absurdly hard and horrible, it gave me even more headache than my 4000 level university comp sci courses. Choose some honest and decent gyms other than this one and save yourself some trouble, you never know how they will trap you.

TERRIBLE HOLY CRAP AWFUL SERVICE. I bought a 24hour gym membership and then guess what, I need to buy a add on key to get into the gym after hours. Notice I have a 24 hour access? And of course they do not send any notices, they think a sticker on the door would be fine to let people know about this. I go and they refuse to let me in! Wow! Like absolute stunned at the terrible service. Then guess what, they accuse me of getting in the gym without a key by slipping in with someone else, not in polite way either, as if I was a thief.Wow, this isn't the money anymore, just terrible service and there is no way I am going to get a membership agian, and this is why they have such bad reviews. Go To snap fitness they are way better.

The instructors are some of the best in the city, continually motivating and educating members to exercise safely as well as having fun.

While Shapes has the best equipment, it is one of the nastiest in terms of customer service. I had cancelled my membership and request them to not go through with my renewal 5 months ago and I am still being charged for it until today. Thee reception said they dont have a cancellation form whereas I clearly signed one, submitted my key fob and identity as well! This is beyond ridiculous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Be very carefully with signing any contract with them , first they will ask u to sign a contract that looks good , but there are some words that can relate to another contract which they say it’s policy, but they don’t let u see the policy paper and the policy will rip u off by saying u have to pay another months fee for cancellation. They tricked me to sign for the ripping off policy paper when I canceled my membership and told me to call the office the office then the office tell me because the policy paper I signed they will charge me one more month. Shady it is And the office told me that only charge me one more @ month why I should worry about that. Haha that’s funning and ripping off u right there. I've been going to Shapes for 10 years now and will never switch to another gym. They have more than enough equipment so I'm not stuck waiting forever for a machine, the gym is always clean, and their recent renos have really made the gym much more attractive. Highly recommend anyone looking for a good gym to get in and give it a try. You won't be disappointed.

Very systematic booking now with Schedulicity. Front staff Shannon is exemplary! -- authentically friendly. Equipment very good condition, place and equipment always sanitized and kept clean. Always have spray bottles and towels for individual to take for sanitizing. Been with Shapes for 7 years now (on and off, but mostly ON for over a year now). Never felt judged. My "class" mates are awesome!

Had some issues originally with the membership costs but the general manager, Christina, got back to me right away. She was very understanding and reasonable and I am now happy with my rate. It is very affordable. Sometimes the front desk employees do not communicate well and I suggest double checking when asking about rates/promotions/guest passes etc. There are limited change room lockers as most are zip tied ... I could not find one available to store my stuff when I recently went. Really like that they include classes in the membership. They are a very clean gym and offer a women's only side of the gym. The equipment is well organized and easy to find. I am looking forward to continuing working out here and trying out new classes.

I was a member here for a year, I signed up before the renovations and I probably would have stuck around despite the poor quality of customer service if they never made any renovations to begin with. Used to be a large facility and they completely ruined it, I tried to cancel and they told me I would have to pay out my remaining fees which was 9 months, considering I'm a university student that was not feasible. Now the last quarantine I had about a week of facility use left on my membership and instead of letting me use the facilities once quarantine ended they terminated my membership and charged fees well into the month of December during quarantine. Nothing but issues with this gym, and customer service from head office is just as poor. DO NOT GO HERE!

Been going to shapes for over 2 years now. Deactivated my membership a few weeks ago and left my membership card with the staff there. Went back the following day, saying that I left it with them the older woman "redhead" said she didn't by into my story of why I would have left it there and told me I could come back on the 5th of May when my membership was up. It's May 2nd and I decided I would just pay the $10 for a new card. I showed up after my gym session to pick up the new card and low and behold, she has my old card with my new card. I ask her thats my old card that I asked about a few days back she puts her hands in the air and says I have nothing to do with this......." Great customer service".... Now there's a huge process just to get my 10$ back.... I work at Poppeys Supplements and deal with "a lot" of your customer base and going forward I will not be telling anyone to purchase a membership with Shapes Pembina. She obviously dosn't believe in the saying "the customer is always right" and turns out I was right..

Besides the Personal Training (which are a select few trainers), this gym is bullshit. Literally spend thousands of dollars on their services? You bet they'll make you wait until every single person is checked in before booking you or will interrupt your time to help other members once already helping you. You bet that they don't care if you're moving unexpectedly and have just spent another $2000..if you are even ONE day over the period allowed to make changes, they'll refuse to help you and you will be out that money. They also constantly mess up banking information for customers (despite it already being on file with their offices) and they don't call you to inform you, they just drop your membership or training sessions first. The weight area is a total joke. Ladies side- They don't even have clips to safely keep weight on the THREE bars (they're all worn out and just spin loosely around the bar) they have but spend thousands to buy useless cardio equipment and update a stupid locker room. The ladies side is also limited hours but is essentially the SAME room?? What is this all about? They care more about their appearance and getting your money than they care about you. There is no way I will be renewing my membership there. The staff is also rude and not knowledgeable.

I love the variety of machines and equipment at this gym, as well as both the co-ed side and women's side. But the staff are rude and unprofessional. Also, in between workout slots, there are always crowds of people waiting the in doors, NOT social distancing with the staff right in front of them at the desk not doing or saying anything! It blows my mind that they allow this. I also witnessed a male in the females side using equipment with a staff member walking right by not saying anything! Does not seem like COVID rules are being followed here.

I posted a comment in shapes facebook page and complained the problem I saw in this location. They answered my comments and then removed it from their page and that wasn't the first time. So here we go. Shapes you can't ignore the complaint you receive. This is not how a business works. They convert the women's section in this location to a gym equipment shop rather than a gym. There is not enough sapce to do workout as the area is fulled with lots of machines especially cardios. To use a seated row machine you need to go to coed area which is always crowded. If something gets brocken it takes long time to fix it. As an example a seated row machine in coed area has been broken before covid and hasn't been fixed yet. All shpaes think of is how to increase the number of their members but not about the quality of the service they provide.

EDIT (for the business owner’s reply): I still have copies of my signed contract. Nowhere in the contract it mentioned about COVID-19 measures, rather it clearly mentioned that cancellation is acceptable within 7 days with a full refund. No, I do not want to waste my time discussing anything further for $30. But please learn to own your mistakes and shortcomings without adding IFs and BUTs at the end of your apologies. Thank you. I went to Shapes on Pembina Highway for the first time on June 03, 2020. After the front desk attendant showed me around and showed me the price breakdown for different packages, I decided to go for the shortest plan which is a 3 month contract and $33.84 bi-weekly after taxes and I went for the shortest plan because she didn’t mention at all that I have the right to cancel the membership within 7 days of signing, given that I have provided a written notice. This is something I got to learn later on. So fast forward to June 07,2020, after working out for two days, I realized that the gym is too crowded for its size and not all members are following the social distancing etiquettes. So I prepared a printed notice of cancellation (2 copies) and went to the Pembina location for cancellation as the paper stated that I would either have to drop it in person to my home club or mail it to their head office. The front desk attendant named Sushmita (her behavior is polite I must say) asked what was my concern. After explaining to her, at first she asked me to mail it to the head office and then after speaking with the on-duty manager Natalia, she informed me that I have to pay a weekly fee of $31.75 for cancelling the contract. I said that nowhere in the contract it was written that I have to pay this fee for cancellation, rather it said any money that I have paid would be refunded if I give the notice on time. Her reply was that due to Covid-19 they are operating on a member-only basis and for cancellation within a week they have imposed this fee and couldn’t update it on the membership agreement due to sudden rush (even though Shapes had the time to create a full proof Covid-19 waiver form). I honestly had no words to argue with at that moment and agreed to pay the fees as my time is way more valuable than running around for $31.75. Afterwards, she cancelled my membership and provided me with a receipt and assured me that no further payments will be withdrawn unlike what I have read from other reviews. My concern here is that I have no problem in paying even $50 for the week if it was under the written contract but it is literally an unethical practice to not let members know about such fees and then put up excuses like due to covid you couldn’t update the contract paper. I have used their facility for two days so charging me isn’t unethical if already stated but charging me when the contract says the opposite is surely unethical. I would not recommend anyone around me to join their club until they clearly state about these fees on their contract paper and train their staff not to skip or bypass providing information about cancellation and related fees.

I really enjoy going to shapes, I feel very comfortable going by myself. The gym has a very safe and motivating atmosphere and the staff and trainers are very nice and encouraging. All the equipment is very easy to use, especially for someone like me who has never been to the gym before. I definitely recommend shapes to anyone!

Been coming to place for like 2 years now. In a word, it’s “magnificent”. what i like, the climbing wall. Now, that thing is huge, with 5 levels - the higher the level the more it’s difficult.They have a trained professional at schedule times to help you out with climbs. Totally safe, badass & fun. Best part, it’s included in membership unlike certain places. Plus the counter ladies are cool too - great people.

I’ve gone to Shapes for a few years and it’s always been pretty good. It’s a gym, it was big, had a good sauna, all you basically needed. As many know, the new renovations weren’t the best changes (Small, looks a bit tacky, sauna is nowhere near as effective as the previous one) and so I decided to go to a gym closer with a lot more amenities for a couple of dollars more. When I went to cancel my membership I had the front desk lady act like a kid and say, “Whyyyy?” with a sad face. She tried to bargain with me and then after all of this I received a random call a week later asking if I changed my mind? Of course not. The reason I’m writing this is because of professionalism and customer service. Both so crucial and were big misses. It would’ve been nice to be asked what I wish was different and how the gym can improve moving forward. Hopefully there’s a lesson learned here. Have a great day

I love the Pembina Shapes location, I would recommend it in a heartbeat. Friendly staff, clean gym, beautiful lounge with massage chairs, there are so many options. They offer many different fitness classes and the instructors are so much fun.I have just had an all out great experience since I started at Shapes. Since starting at shapes in the middle of April of this year, I have lost just over 80 pounds, and I want to say Thank you to my amazing personal trainer jodi who helped me achieve my goal. I know that I would of never have achieved the level of fitness and wellness I have, if it wasn't for my incredible personal trainer jodi, she has given me the full attention I needed throughout my personal training sessions. She helped me achieve my goal in just 6 months, I couldn't be happier :) Jodi is always very encouraging and has a vast knowledge of her profession. I would highly recommend her if your looking into getting a personal trainer. I aim to continue to train and maintain a good level of fitness with their help for a long time to come. when I sign up services with them, the ppl was super aggressive try to selling me courses which I understand maybe they can get commission for that. However, please note that when you sign the paper you signed one yr contract with them too. even after one year, when you cancel the service there is a one month notification. which mean they will charge you for one extra month. They gym is pretty good, but due to the last month of my service, it wasn't a pleasent end. Last thing people, do ask everything clear then sign the paper and give them your bank information.

I was visiting Winnipeg for a conference and looking for a gym with complete exercise equipment. The hotel we were staying at did not have a very good exercise room but was near a Shapes Facility. Shapes had all of the gym equipment that I use back home. Free weights, pull up bar, sit up bar and lots of space. In addition they also have a climbing wall, and a fitness training area. I would recommend anyone looking for a complete workout gym to consider Shapes or if you are visiting the area to select a Visitors Weekly Pass. Very reasonably priced.

Stop charging me for the gym membership! I asked for cancellation Months ago. I emailed back in April and no one was available to answer due to covid. Then i got a response in June saying follow the Phase 2 info and i have to mail in a letter to cancel and i did it immediately. However you guys have been keep charging me! I got charged twice already when it should had been cancelled. How is it taking to so long to cancel? Being a local business is not a legitimate reason to delay things like this. If you have certain number of customers, hire respective number of employees! I want my membership cancelled! I don’t go to your gym anymore!

Rachel also works at front desk, happy and friendly. They always greet you as you walk in. The facility is good, has a wide variety of equipment. poor customer service, my membership ended oct-24, and i didnot vist the gym after that, even then they charged me the regular payment, i talked to the head office, they said that they wont charge me anymore and advised me to go to your gym location and then talk to them to end the membership. Contracts are designed in a way to take your money, lock you in even if you are faced with situations beyond your control and even if they cannot provide the service for example with the covid. Avoid this gym at all costs. Most of the staff have horrible attitudes, unwelcoming and unfriendly. Many complaints of harrassment being dealt with wildy inappropriately. Plus the women's only side is dingy, dirty and not an inviting space to work out. I've stopped going here for years and still get phone calls from them asking to renew my membership. Predatory and annoying.

The only reason I'm giving it 2 starts is because I like the gym itself. The staff other than a few girls is just awful. Extremely rude and unhelpful. In particular a woman named Vicki. Most rude woman of them all. Doesn't give a damn about the members or helping them. The staff has no idea what they're doing. I am from Vancouver, BC and I am here for only 7 weeks for business. The only membership they offered was 201$ for 3 months or 10$ for each drop in. After talking to a manager: Sylvia, I was able to work something out for me and my coworkers. I am happy Sylvia was willing to accomodate our needs and allowed us to use their facility. This is one of the best gyms in Winnipeg! This gym is also 24 hours and I highly recommend it!

The worst gym I’ve ever been. The customer service is terrible. Just calling to cancel my training session and every time they put me on hold for ever and never get back to me. Also they can’t cancel my appointment at the same day unless myself personally have to contact head office. At the end, they don’t add missed session on it. Second, the machine is too old. One time the weight on the machine dropped down it self and hurt other member’s head causing blood. Third, Message machine has never been fixed. There is only one working.

I cancelled my membership contract and they kept on charging me and when I called head office they hang up on me every time even when I have a paper saying that I have my membership subscription is cancelled. To date, they've removed more than half the lockers in the men's change room, half the urinals, all of the pot lights and all of the sinks. Not to mention the workout area is filthy and cluttered. Since Altea opened, half the clientele has left. It's the worst gym for etiquette and they don't do anything to repeat offenders. I don't know where this $3 million dollars is being spent but they've saved lots of taking away all of the men's locker room.

Being someone with very low self confidence and self esteem, it’s really nice to be able to go to your facility knowing that I can try to better myself without judgment. I’ve had other members come up to me and give me constructive criticism on how to better my form/posture when working out and it’s really nice to see that other members go out of their way to help me out or the fact that if I have a question and certain machines or certain workouts in general, there’s always someone who’s willing to answer my questions. I have been with this gym for over 14 years, from when Body Pump turned into Group power, and the hot yoga room was installed. I love this gym. The cleaning staff are constantly keeping the place immaculate. The front desk staff used to be very rude but I have seen a massive improvement in the past 4 years. I especially love trainers Jan and Susan who teach Centergy and Power at various shapes locations. They bring high energy and great music to the workout and I ALWAYS leave sweaty and smiling. The only reason I give 4/5 stars is because it is very frustrating when the class schedule changes aren't made to the Online Schedule.

I have been buying the groupon deal to try out shapes fitness classes for the last couple years and I finally caved and got a full membership this year. I love coming to the Pembina location as the staff are always friendly, gym is clean and the classes are fun. My favourite class to attend is the ride classes and I recently tried R30 which is a lot of fun as well. Even from travelling from out of town I find this is my go to location for my workouts!!

They provide a good daycare hours making it easy for parents to get to the gym!! However only complaint is daycare closes 2 days on holidays forcing me to go to other gym that provides a daycare on holidays. But other then that I would highly recommend this gym!!!

Horrible customer service. Was not informed that they would continue charging me for my membership after talking on the phone with a representative, explaining that I would like to cancel my membership. The representative told me I would have to go in to pay my outstanding fee which I understood, but was never told I would continue to be charged. I decided to switch gyms after my key fob which I had paid for would often not work and I would have to wait to be let in by another member, not to mention the equipment which often felt and smelt very unclean, and various other ongoing problems throughout my couple years as a member. Do yourself the favour and go to planet fitness down the road where employees are constantly cleaning the facility, employees are very nice, many more amenities and not to mention a fraction of the price of shapes! Consider updating your customer service strategies shapes, especially for a customer of many years-certainly will not be recommending this gym!

I went in to cancel my membership two weeks before my yearly contract ended and I was told I could just freeze my account until I was ready to come back. I thought this was fantastic until I started receiving charges every two weeks for a “5$ freeze fee”. It would have been cheaper for me to just pay out the last two weeks of my contract than to pay a freeze fee biweekly. I was misled and misinformed and when I sent follow up emails requesting to speak with management about this I received a email from Kassandra stating that nothing would be done about the fees and that I was not as a paying customer who intended to continue services worth the 10$ in refunds to keep my $1000.00 a year contract going. This is clearly a poorly run company with terrible customer service and extremely poor manager customer relations. I couldn’t reply to this message so hopefully it is received here. I went in person to the shapes on Pembina and explained that I couldn’t use the facilities due to being 8.5 months pregnant so I asked about ending my contract (one payment remaining on my year) or holding the account instead of cancelling, I was told nothing about fees to hold the account so perhaps this is where staff should be better trained. This was not a miscommunication with another gym, the only miscommunication I received from another gym was that the fee was monthly but would be waved for medical reasons. I was back and forth in emails for over two weeks and one person, Tina never replied to my email after refusing to assist me. Then after speaking with Kassandra for two weeks back and forth she told me there was nothing to be done about the fees, I will gladly forward the emails to show you how poor of customer service I received. Also, you are saying I don’t pay nearly 1000$ annually but my bank account shows I pay 38$ biweekly, which is $988.00 annually so please do not tell me that I pay “a discounted” amount. I have been a loyal customer and deserved better treatment.

I really like the staff here and although I moved further away I still like coming here, although I specifically signed up for yoga. It would be nice if more than an hour notice on a cancellation on an early morning class, so people can get ready and drive there! I was 7th on the waiting list so didnt think I would get in but there were a bunch of cancellations. The staff doesnt check them until the morning of. So more notice would be appreciated especially that I am having and extremely hard time getting into these classes already and it's all I had signed up for. Frustrating.

I had a very bad experience at Shapes on Pembina. The front staff had always been very rude. I had towel service, and 8/10 times they wouldn't have towels, one time one of the girls refused to give me a towel on Sunday when I came in at 5pm. She told me she put the towels away. I told her that there is still an hour and all I am doing is taking a shower. She was so rude to me and said that don't you get it, I told you that I put the towels away. I had to stand there and beg for a towel. On another occasion, one of the girls lost my membership card and I asked Vicky at shapes to look for my card and see if she could find it. She told me she can't find and that I have pay $10.00 for a replacement and walked away. I was planning on staying there as a member for a long time, but I went and got membership somewhere else because of all these kinds of problems.

This is defintly a great gym you should go, really deserve to try it out. The gym has two section, female workout zone and mixed workout zone. I think Shapes is the only gym does it. the space between each workout machine are huge, so you will not have uncomfortable workout feeling with narrow workout space. People workout friendly and nice, willing to help each other, really good workout atomasphere. Because there are no dropping weights and naked allowed in gym, which makes you can enjoy and easy to focus on your own workout routine. Those front reception desk server have such a good serving attitude. And i personally have been workout two years in this gym, feels like my second home. Last but not least, this gym in recent half year up dated a lot of new things, which can allow you to come to gym anytime, a lot new self-weight traning items and having new massage sofa as well, you know, it is not a bad time to try here.

The worst experience I have ever had. I had one year contract with them and I had an accident which made me to go for a back surgery. They didn’t even care when I showed them my dr documents they said that they cannot cancel my membership because it was a contract. When i asked them to at least suspend it for me they said okay but they are still charging me and neither their head office nor their manager never give you any helpful response. I feel trapped in a contract which is half a thousand dollars and due to my surgery I can’t work and they are getting all my savings. I WOULD DEFINITELY NOT RECOMMEND THEM. THE WORST COMPANY EVER!

This is a review of Shapes management at Head office and Pembina location. I signed up for my membership back in the summer and got a share your rate deal from my friend who was a member. My husband has now decided to join the club and so we were told he could get my rate as we are a family. I only had to change my address as my id was still under my previous address. When I went to get my husbands rate modified they then told me that he was not able to get my rate as my rate was a corporate rate. The employee who signed me up knew I received my rate as a share your rate deal and never said this would be an issue for my husband to also receive this rate. When I called head office to discuss this matter the customer agent I spoke with was extremely rude and would not even allow me to speak with management. I own a business and would never treat my customers this way. If I told a customer something was a certain price and I made that mistake I would own up to that and honour the price I had promised them. I have never been treated so horribly and I will definitely think twice before I renew my membership or suggest anyone else to join this club with such horrible customer service.

When you sign a contract, both parties are liable to uphold their end of the bargain. When the pandemic happened and Shapes was forced closed, they were unable to uphold their end of the bargain which effectively voided our contract. I didn't know that (was only recently told by a lawyer friend), so continued on with my payments (despite not using the gym since last february) and waited for the end of my contract so that I could cancel and provide the 30 day notice as requested. My original contract was from Jan 1, 2020 to Dec 31, 2020 and when I went in on Feb 22 (the first day they "allowed" people to cancel after already being open since the 12th) I was shown a new paper that says I would be required to continue to pay for the payments that were missed while YOUR facility was closed. Clearly no one in this establishment knows how contracts work because when I called to speak to the Manager and tell her that I had put stop payments on their withdrawals because they had gone outside our contract (which, remember, is technically actually void at this point) the manager got incredibly hostile and insulting. She told me that there was a clause for this (there isn't, I've checked) and when I asked where it was and what it said she couldn't give me an answer and instead continued to give me attitude and say "what do you want me to do? you've decided you are going to pick and choose which parts of the contract to uphold so theres nothing I can do for you". She repeatedly spoke over me while I tried to tell her that I am not picking and choosing and thats not how contracts work, I just want to make sure that my account is closed on their end so that it doesn't create further issues for me. She rudely interrupted me saying theres nothing she can do and that she has other, "MORE IMPORTANT ISSUES", to deal with before hanging up on me. This is disgusting behaviour all around. DO NOT GO TO THIS GYM. ** editing in response to "owner" as I cannot reply directly to them. No, A7 does not cover that. Unless of course I missed the part of that clause which states that if the gym is unable to fulfill its obligation to the member, by withholding access to the gym, that the gym is then allowed to lengthen the terms of the contract to recoup any lost income they would've otherwise received had they not been forced to close by the government (I'm being facetious. I didn't miss it. It's not there.) Once again - as I told you on the phone, the contract DOES NOT state that the terms are until Dec 31, 2020 OR 26 payments.This isn't an either/or situation. Contract law can be extremely complicated but the 1 very clear point about it is that a contract is a 2 way agreement and if either or both parties don't uphold their side of the agreement then the terms are voided. Either you uphold the contract and honor the fact that the contract was completed on Dec. 31, 2020 or you agree that the contract was voided when you failed to keep up your end of the bargain by refusing access to your establishment - regardless of if it was mandated by the government or not. Either way, you have no grounds to force the completion of 26 payments on me when it is outside of our original contract. ALSO - As a self-employed, single, homeowner I can GUARANTEE that I have been financially affected MUCH greater than you, by the mandated closures that included my own business and only source of income. Don't bother trying to bring the pandemic difficulties into this. It is a simple contractual matter.

To my amazement, Shapes initially wouldn't let go of $75 in month to month charges after a year membership was over to gain another year membership at a value of $754. After being advised to reach out to Christina at shapes, my issue has been resolved perfectly. I am very happy shapes has come to the table to keep me as a client. Thanks again Christina.

Great location for people living in the south side of the city. Very clean environment. Very friendly staff members, they always greet you with smile and great customer service. The size of the gym is huge compared to other gym in the city and Shapes offers free classes for members. Is there any option to give a negative star? The manager is super rude and very unprofessional. I asked her about membership plans but she was more interested in knowing my personal life about back home and all. I tried talking to other staff member ignoring the manager, she refused to answer me and pointed towards the manager telling me that she’s the Boss (manager) and if I ignore her they won’t help me too. I had a year membership with them in which I was not able to attend the gym as I was in India and paid for all 12 months which I have no problem as it was a contract. A couple weeks ago I went there to join the gym and was asking about memberships when this happened. I even told her that I was a previously a shapes customer. Is that how you treat your old customers when they come back again to join?

New renovation works for me because I go after midnight. But it is smaller that previous layout. What I'm really disappointed in is the massage chairs. They can't be used if no staff is there. I think the chairs should be operational after hours. They wouldn't get used enough to possibly cause any harm to them. I agree the chairs need to be monitored during the day. Staff is still great though.

Very clean and well equipped gym. Almost all of my friends are a member there. I enjoy my workout at Shapes. Their manager is really co-operative and knowledgeable. I like the booking system though, don’t need to stand in line wondering if I can go in or not, like some other gyms.

Have been going for the past 3 weeks and have lost 4 lbs so far. Ravi my personal trainer is very motivational and helpful with questions His routines change often and he is always booked (highly recommend him). Daniella is always accommodating and helpful with requests (i.e my training schedule). The gym is always clean as well the showers. People are very friendly and outgoing. I go six days a week and love every moment of it. I feel I found a great place that cares about me and my goals and really wants to see me succeed. See ya there tonight! Can't wait for another weigh in!!!!

I love working out at this location.. close to my house plus good atmosphere. The staff is really friendly and understanding. Cleaning procedures are carefully taken care of by the staff. The booking system is good but i hope everything comes to normal soon. Overall great deal, supportive and variety of tools to work on.

This gym is very dirty and the machines are always down or missing pieces the management says they clean it but when there black dirt cake on to the machines don't know how you can say that's clean they make it seem like they listen but they don't all they want is your money very disappointed

I come to Shapes primarily for hot yoga. Every couple of weeks, they have a "problem" with the heater in the room (it's never communicated to members ahead of time). Just today, I came dressed for hot yoga, only to duck out partway through for socks & a sweater because it ended up being "air conditioned yoga." I've addressed it with instructors and front staff members, who have told me that after a power outage the heater has to be re-programmed. But the instructors can't program it. The front staff can't program it. I presume it's someone in management, but no one I've asked seems to know. It seems absurd to me that there isn't a thermostat accessible to both instructors and front desk staff. Shouldn't the instructor be able to turn the heat up or down if it's too hot/cool in the room? Every other yoga studio I've been to has this. Just not Shapes. I've given this review 2 stars, and I'll keep coming here, because there are so many AMAZING instructors (especially Lynda and Lindsay) who work their butts off and do an incredible job. PS. This Shapes had a promotion during May-June 2018 where you could get a free bag in exchange for a 5-star review. Anybody who received a bag in exchange for a 5-star review in that time period, and did not disclose it in their review, is in violation of the Canadian Code of Advertising Standards.

The shapes on pembina has an awesome facility and space for all my fitness needs. The classes offered are very effective in helping me stick to my routine. I especially like the service offered by the front desk staff sushmitha. She was very helpful and informative when answering my questions. She is very sweet and polite as well.

This gym is extremely pushy!!! I admit that I enjoy the women's side and its comfortable and their programs but this crazy and stupid one year contract was ridiculous. I had issues with this as I had health problems with our family membership. They didn't offer me any compassionate options. They kept on saying that I had signed the contract and had to stay with them for a year or else they will screw my credit history. Not happy with these people and their service at all. Their staff at the front are not helpful and are rude and don't give you the correct information. Too bad for them b/c I am at another gym and I really like it!!

Place is a scam... Ok I have never had the best experience at shapes but I kept going back because of how close it is to where I work and live but as of recent events I am 100% sure that everyone will agree that this place is a scam. Here is why: I have a membership and currently in a 1 year plan, my mother who is trying to lead a healthy lifestyle asked about family plans and I went with her and my dad. First off they told us the wrong price but I was also told that I could give my 30 day notice on my membership (which i signed giving my 30 days) and there would be ZERO buyout. I asked 3-5 times to the point where the staff got annoyed at me. This girl who was helping us was new and she had the help of Sukhdeep the manager (who now denies even helping). I kept seeing my bank charged the monthly fees even after the 30 days and i called and asked what was happening. They told me "yeah sorry they gave you the wrong information, so you have to continue with your plan or buyout." Now I am being told that i have to pay $145 to get out of my one plan because the girl who signed me up, no longer works there. I kid you not, this is what they told me. They said that "the girl who helped you no longer works there so...." I have to buyout. When I told them how a manager helped her I was told, yeah she no longer works there and I called them out on it saying yes she does because I just saw her. Then she said oh she is finishing up her last few days, guess what? she still works there. So it doesn't matter that my mom, my dad and I were witness to what Sukhdeep told us, I am still responsible for their lies. They told me multiple times that they cannot honor what was told to me because the girl (who did work for them at the time) is no longer there. I have also been waiting for almost 3 weeks for a call from a supervisor from head office, I have called every week and still nothing. Here is the kicker, they straight up told me over the phone that they have had issues with the Pembina location and the family plans. Also, I have a friend who did the exact same thing as me a month later and she got out of her plan with no buyout and here they are trying to tell me this has always been their policy. So now i am stuck paying for 2 memberships (yes i have to pay my part to my mom i am NOT a free member on that plan) because they are not taking responsibility for what their staff has done. There was NO miscommunication, I was lied to even though I asked multiple times the same question and their manager refuses to accept responsibility. You are in charge of your staff, you are responsible for what they tell people. Do yourself a favor go to another gym.. if I could afford a buyout for both memberships I would do it and leave immediately, but I cant. p.s. Shapes.. thanks for your reply but where is the call back i requested 3 weeks ago. Stop lying to people and stop scamming people. When your staff assures me that I don't have to pay, you need to handle those charges yourself. Side note: they are now trying to buy good reviews. I had posted a picture of this sign they had but i guess it got removed.

Great facility. Always clean. No matter what time of day I visit, I never have to wait for equipment. Every member of the staff is always ready to assist with a smile. I'm not currently a member, as I have a home gym and only drop in periodically, but Susmitha has been very patient and kind in answering all of my questions. She has me seriously considering putting my equiptment on Kijiji and signing up for a membership in the new year.

Great gym! I’ve been a member for at least 8 years. My rate is very reasonable, and I love that I can add tanning and hot yoga to my membership for a VERY reasonable rate. Seriously cheaper for those than anywhere else. Staff are always friendly, there is a large variety of machines too, not to mention classes! I enjoy the option of having the women’s only side or the co-ed side for when I go with my significant other.

I love Shapes and definitely think it is the best gym in Winnipeg! Over the years I have been to many many different gyms in Winnipeg, and I can easily say that Shapes is my favorite. Shapes' gyms are bright, clean, and inviting. As a woman, I love the option to work out in an all-women environment. I feel relaxed and super comfortable. I also totally love the classes at Shapes! They motivate me to work hard, and prevent my workouts from getting boring. I love that you can go to any Shapes location in the city, and the classes are the same; they have that consistency which makes it easy and comfortable to go from location to location. I also love the music in the Shapes classes. Current and upbeat, they always keep me feeling happy and proud of myself for working out! I also love the soft floor in the hot yoga studios. The soft floor is a delight for my sometimes painful feet. I love Shapes!!

Shapes charged my wife an Nsf fee of $25 after claiming they were unable to take money out of the bank account. Except they were able to take the money out. When we went down to cancel our memberships they made us pay the $14.07 at the desk. Essentially making the same hi weekly payment twice. Absolute scam. The gym is incredibly understaffed. They take no pride in their company, or provide customer loyalty. I've brought many people to this gym over the 4 years I was a member, and we will all be cancelling our memberships and switching to anytime fitness because of this.

I like the way the gym is???? On my first day this lady at the front desk walked me around and showed me the gym and she was so kind to me. She was really social and I am not the social kind of person but she was conversing with me and it’s like she knew I was really shy so she did not make it awkward hahahahaha???? also she explained everything to me really well! Multiple cases of harassment reported by female members and instead of tacking the situation, they just transfer the employee to another location, rinse and repeat cycle. The front desk staffs are rude , manager Natalia and Melissa are very rude unprofessional and lack common comprehension skills. If you want to be harassed and get accused of being aggressive for reporting it, this is the gym for you, if you want to be treated like nobody and get continually disrespected by management(family business) , this is the place for you, if you want to feel unsafe when you workout, this is the place. Would never recommend this gym to anyone.

The new renovations have made the gym so much worse. Much smaller area, less equipment and yet the same price. If you have any concerns the staff just say to phone head office. I tried and they were even less helpful. The majority of the 5 star reviews are because the gym offered free t-shirts to leave a good review. It also appears that facility staff are leaving positive reviews. If you are looking to sign up for a gym for the new year there are much better options close by.

I do love it here. Very nice now with the Reno's. Love the group fitness classes. Instructors are really good. Only 4 stars because of their policies and issues around cancelling and freezing accounts. Hidden fees and unexpected charges that a few of my friends and family have experienced.

Don't workout in shapes if you not pay CASH!!!! Bought membership 3years ago with $19 bi-w payment, but charged me $26, I found out after second error. I signed new membership 2 months ago with me void cheque, but my first 2 bi-w payments not went through because they typed wrong banking information,not my account overdraw. I told them I will pay it when I workout next time, but they will send to collection after 2 weeks anyway if you are not pay it....and they have bad customer service. Not recommend to workout in Shapes.

Their Morales are criminal. Charging a wrong credit card for 5 months while I haven't been to the gym once because I had broken my hand. Did they notify me I owed money each time I was getting charged? Nope, but collections sure did. Absolutely pathetic. They did nothing to help. My Credit card expired at my new gym recently. What happened? They sent me an email instantly when my card was declined and I was able to provide an updated card. Simple. Shapes is full of criminals and the girls at the desk will tell you something different than you'll hear from management when you dial.

DO NOT sign up with this gym! Their customer service skills are HORRIBLE! Not only that the upper management and their staff are very rude. I had A LOT of trouble with this gym when it came to money! They tried to swindle more money then what was in my agreement that was made. I had froze my account due to a illness. Then I had noticed that they were STILL taking money from my account. ( my full payment agreement of $ 37.87 and the $5.00 membership fee ) Even though my account was suppose to be FROZEN!!!! I am NOT HAPPY with the service at this gym at all.
