I had a good experience there. Staff are friendly and welcoming. The main advantage for me is the kids club where I can leave my baby to go for a 2hr workout. I can't say it's THE best gym in the city, since I haven't checked them all (:D) but it's pretty good.

During my tour I was told that I would be able to use the cycle studio after class hours. However, manegment has decided to have the cycle studio closed during none class hours. A major factor for joining Altea was the accessibility of the cycle studio after class hours. Management has told me that I was misinformed. I do not see it that way. I see it as a retraction of services and an deception with no acceptance of accountability on their part. Other than my dissatisfaction with the management, the facility holds an array of equipment and is very well organized. I have spoken.

This gym has a lot to offer currently under the base membership fee. I've done a few different drop in classes and the instructors have been very friendly and positive. The facility and change room is very nice. While the only real issue is croud size, that is something to be expected when a new gym opens up. Some room issues for doing warm up excerises, such as lunge walks. But, the gym still has new facilities to expand too, such as the wall climbing, pools, and other random assortments of stuff to live a healthier better life. If I could give half a star I would rate it 4.5. But figure I'd bump it up a bit from the people who are upset with a overcrowded gym on opening week.

Jet

There is one thing that nobody tells you during setting up your membership: You will never book your fitness class because it's too overcrowded. Of course, they will blame coronavirus restrictions...

Be very careful and read the whole contract thoroughly before signing. I signed a 1-year commitment. After the 1-year commitment was over I kept getting charged. I saw on my account that my hard-earned money has been taken multiple times without my knowledge even though a month before the contract was over I checked with the front desk to confirm the date when the contract will be over and I was also assured I won't be charged after it was over.

Very clean facility with high quality equipment. Too few squat racks for the amount of members and they are still missing some equipment such as trap bars. Quite expensive and often very busy but for the services they provide I would say it's worth it.

RM Y

I've been going to Altea since the beginning, and it's one of the best gyms out there. Lots of equipment and classes to choose from, and both coed and women's sides of the gym mean everyone can be comfortable. The staff is especially wonderful, and they are both helpful and welcoming. And did I mention how clean it is there? All of the public areas get cleaned several times a day!

Trace Baldwin

Probably the best gym by far in the city of Winnipeg! Amazing staff, equipment and above all, the entire facility. Would 100% recommend anyone looking to start their fitness journey, to checkout Altea Active. ????????

Staffs are friendly and kind. GYM and facilities are new and clean.

Mr Waffles

Incredible gym! during this difficult time, the staff is working tirelessly to make sure the gym is kept clean. Especially their custodians specifically Mehran who is always there to lend a helping hand. Our family is very confident going to the gym and we feel safe thanks to Mehran and his team.

Nikki

I love Altea! All of the staff are friendly and its just a great place to be :) practically my second home

It is just simply impossible to reach them to through call. Still ringing for 10 mins. No one answer I have never sucessfully reached to them since last year; It seems like they simply refuse to answer the call? I got injury, and now I have issue of walking in right now.. but I cannot reach to the gym through phone call. For being one of more expensive gyms in the city, it wouldn't be the service I expect. It wasn't this bad when they first started the service in town...

Dan Vinci (dandr0id)

Very nice facility and a ton of equipment. It's just a bit confusing because most of the equipment seems very jumbled together. There is no sense of direction or flow for how it is laid out. But once you figure out where everything is, you should basically have everything you need for any kind of work out. Is still quite busy and chaotic, but that should change over time as it is still in soft opening phases. Only serious knock against Altea is there app is confusing and is not great for working out with. It's cool that it works with most of the machines, but it just seems to get in the way and it's incredibly difficult to setup your own basic workout on it if you just want some simple stats tracking.

Awesome I go 6 days a week . Personal trainer twice a week Great atmosphere . Awesome staff always there for you.

This place is amazing. There's everything here you need to get healthy and fit or relax if that's what you're after. The Himalayan salt lounge is wonderful. There are dedicated women only pools and exercise studios. Hot tubs, saunas and steam rooms, coed or women only. So many classes to pick from at whatever level you need. Lots of different times available. The smoothie bar is great too!

Keep taking my money out of my bank account after I canceled my membership. Even though I called them please stop this, they keep doing that. Made an appointment like a week after. This is an issue, not like something else meeting, why does this take so long????holly

RiLel Beauty

I have been there for a tour only, and I don’t want to be member there. They say there are 160 groups but the truth is they have 5-6 rooms for group classes so there is not really much flexibility. What is more, during the tour, I asked the manager about some classes and she couldn't answer any of my questions. Also, Altea has an app (not very UX friendly). As I saw the group class was full. In the app you can only register a day in advance. So, you can't really schedule any classes at least a week ahead. What was extremely bad is that I looked at 7.40 am (the registration starts at 7 am), and all groups for the next day were full and waiting lists had 15-20 people. So, you literally have no chances of getting in the class unless you sit with your phone at 7 am. The gym itself is huge. Now, during Covid, it is told the capacity is limited but…It is full. Really, there are a lot of people. Good for Altea, but it is way too crowded for me. And this is my personal opinion, of course.

Beautiful facilities, brand new equipment, albeit, a couple pretty typical machines are missing that are pretty standard in other facilities (like the arc trainer), and I like the women's only side, even though I use the co-ed side typically. And although this place is beautiful, I simply feel that the clientele that it is geared towards Doesn't include me. So just a disclaimer, these are the reasons why I don't particularly enjoy this gym, and it may be awesome for others, but if I knew then, what I know now, I would have stayed at the gym I left instead of trying something new and shiny. Firstly, I am not a class person. I like to try one or two classes a month to mix up my routine, but really, I prefer to set up my own small circuits, use strength training equipment, the TRX etc on my own. For these types of workouts, there is next to no floor space to do these things. The TRXs are hung in front of the other circuit equipment, there are only three and usually there is no space in the area. What really baffles me is the large lounge area on the fitness floor. I didn't realize people came to the gym to lounge? I am puzzled by this, and tempted to set up a circuit in this seemingly underused area. Secondly, I went for a swim Sunday morning, before the water Zumba started. Thinking I had 30 minutes, which is my swim workout, I was pretty much forced out of the pool at 8:50 with class participants literally standing infront of me. The lane ropes were moved at 8:45. So just FYI, lane swimmers, check the schedule, because your swim will be cut short. I moved to the other pool, only to find swimming lessons taking up the space, and 4 adult lane swimmers sharing one lane. I had enough of that, so I left. So, I tried going in the morning, thinking things would be a little more subdued. Nope. The HITT Tuesday morning class was on, taking up all of the circuit equipment. I asked to use a heavier kettlebell since the class took them all, and then weren't using them. The music was BLASTING. Like, my own headphones were drowned out by the class music. I moved off to the side by the massage tables to finish my workout. After those classes in the morning there was a line for the shower, so helpful hint, plan to end your workout in the morning so it doesn't align with the several classes finishing in the morning. The change room cleanliness has greatly improved from when I first started, but why are people not asked to remove their outdoor footwear before entering the change room? The floors are so dirty. I didn't realize this gym would have a strong "club" culture, if I wanted strobe lights and blarring music I'd go to the bar. I also am finding I am not a fan of this "app" culture in the gym. I didn't sign up for the altea account as I am very put off of the "giving your data to a third party for marketing purposes" everyone seems fine with it, it just doesn't sit well with me. I could go on, but I won't. I am just disappointed. 8 more months to go before I can end this membership. Although the 100.00 cancellation fee is probably better for my mental health than suffering through 8 more months of this. Again, I am trying to be objective in my criticisms, and many of these things are no problem for the many many happy clients at this gym, but hopefully this review gives insight to others on deciding if this gym is right for them.

Darren Hayden

Plenty of amenities, high quality equipment and very clean!

Ruth Buenviaje

Best fitness facility in Winnipeg for the whole family!

A M

The facilities are always so clean! Love the smoothie bar and also having starbucks there definitely helped rather than having to drive to another location before work. The staff are very friendly and are willing to give you helpful tips for your fitness journey. The rock climbing wall & course is so fun as well!

Nathan Hicks

Great facility. Covers all the bases with all the different types of workouts and exercises. The only issue is that because it is the only one in the city, it can be VERY crowded during peak times. Other than that, it's great.

Megan Henry

Fantastic experience at this gym. All the instructors and coaches as amazing. It’s a welcoming environment that is clean and has great options for all work out preferences

Charity J

I have been locked into this contract 3 separate times. I am a former employee of altea and had joined the gym when it opened, after being hired, that membership was scrapped and a new employee membership took its place. When I left the job I wanted to continue using the facilities and was required to sign yet another contract for a year as well as pay sign up fees again. I am trying to get rid of my contract as I don't live in the area anymore, it's a huge headache to get in touch with sales over the phone, and the mailboxes cut you off so you cannot leave a message to be contacted. Emails only result in a request to make an appointment to speak with a manager. Even if you're able to hand off your contract to someone, you're required to personally show up to meet a stranger to sign over your membership, which having moved, is very much not ideal. As well, the difficulty in reaching anyone just puts up another barrier to make it difficult for somebody to actually take my contract over just signing up themselves. I have tried explaining my situation several times to several people and have received no help other than a "book an appointment" email after 2 weeks of my request to speak with someone, which seems to be a regular impression here: Booking appointments for conversations that could be emails. Which I have to guess is just a policy they have to make it harder to leave. Glad I left this gym but seems like I am blood bound to pay forever as noone is reachable, even within regular business hours. The gym is nice looking with several machines (when not in disrepair for weeks at a time) but thats not exclusive to altea.

Aldin Sabic

Altea is a fantastic gym. I always feel welcomed by the staff, and with the amenities that come with your membership, the cost is very reasonable. There is tons of equipment available, and as long as you go during the slower hours, it’s not busy. The only thing I’d love to see is extending their hours to 24 hours a day!

Momoko Honey

So much nice equipment. The staff has been very helpful and inviting. I took a yoga class today and enjoyed it a lot. It's understandable for the classes to be a bit crowded since the gym did only open a few days ago. The staff is clearly very busy still helping people sign up, so I don't understand why the people giving one stars are complaining about staff not having time for them. Of course they're busy on opening week. The have way more available staff than the other gym I went to. The fact that you can take multiple classes at no extra charge but the price of your membership is outstanding. I for sure see myself coming here every morning from now on.

Mandeep Sodhi

From the management down to the front desk staff everyone is courteous and nice. The General Manager, Tyler is a wonderful individual who understands how fitness clubs work.

Faisal Tariq

Beautiful Great gym nice environment, staff is very friendly and professional . Nice and clean gym I want to thanks Mehran for keeping the floor clean. Safety and health is first priority. Thanks Altea .

Morgan Arnott

I was never the gym type prior to joining Altea. In fact I rarely ever went to the gym. Altea changed that. I now go to the gym more often than not. When you walk in, it’s a gorgeous, luxurious facility with well thought out amenities. There is a wide variety of classes if those are your thing as well as a variety of equipment. Every staff member I’ve had interactions with has been nothing short of wonderful. Altea has become my sanctuary, my oasis and I love it there.

Jillian Bobczynski

for the amount you pay for a membership, this place should not close at 8pm on weekends... multiple bathroom stalls in women's changeroom have been out of order for months for the size of the facility, the weight section is not nearly big enough. Machines are broken way too often and slow to be properly fixed As soon as my membership is expired, I will be going elsewhere asap

Varen Oberoi

The staff has no knowledge at all, we take the membership yesterday and canceling it today, 6-7 people standing in front desk only to greet you, we met with Tori and paid everything. Guys must be aware before signup and giving them your card details, they give you different story and once they took money, they come up with another story. No communication and when you asked for person, reception was clueless.

Corelei Masson

I’ve never felt comfortable in any gym setting, but Altea has totally changed that! The staff is amazing and friendly, they make you feel comfortable with any questions you ask. The facility is top shelf!

Cassio Reis

Excellent Gym facility. You have a lot of equipment and great service.

Mitch Etkin

Altea by far is the best gym in this city. Tori made it easy and quick to sign up. Great service and amazing facility! Great to see a gym like this open in Winnipeg.

Dishant Gill

I’ve been at many gym before but this gym stands out to me because of how clean it is and how certain employees are always working to make the gym better one employee that stuck out to me was Mahran he sanitizers all the equipment making me feel safe to workout even through the scary pandemic times

Carter Chen

I've been going to Altea for about 2 years now and I still get excited to go every time. It's not just a gym but an lifestyle. I've met so many great people there and reconnected with old friends. The staff are like family to me. The facility and equipment are the best in Winnipeg and it's always so clean. I highly recommend you all to check it out and I hope to see you there.

Cheese boss

The floor is over all good not bad same with pool and other parts of the facility. The staff however, there’s a few that are very friendly and nice, the rest are complete awful and just very rude. Like I’m confused why they so rude and so sensitive, like I have a job too I understand, I get tired at work and irritable but never am I rude to the customers. These guys are just straight up disrespectful. I think next time they disrespect me I might swing.

Gary Paige

Ian at the front desk is outstanding and has mentored Victoria into another high service team member. This facility has improved my overall quality of life and I wouldn't hesitate recommending them.

Shayan Zaidi

Please tell your staff to not force people to wear a mask if they are breathing heavily after a workout. It's a health risk and has killed people who haven't been aware of this. Google it. If someone ends up in the hospital, you guys will be getting some lawsuits. Otherwise masks should be mandatory. That's a good measure but for a fitness center, your staff NEEDS to understand not to risk the health of its clients.

Michael Lacroix

Its huge. Goliath. Immense.

Meghan Cole

clean facility, quality classes and equipment, friendly staff, positive environment and offer so many different ways to stay active. wish they offered certain classes more frequently throughout the week but love it here

Rhonda Almey

Love coming here!! Super clean, very friendly staff and gorgeous atmosphere! feels like you're in a hotel without the hefty price tag!

Searra “Sassy” November

First time I worked out I noticed that the weight areas are messy and I don’t see employees going around to clean equipment. Coming from goodlife and how clean they kept their gym. I’m very disappointed as I’m paying more for something that feels like an expensive YMCA. The improvements I’d make is more cleanliness (especially now) and there are no employees around besides the wait area and the front desk. It feels as though there’s no structure.

Victoria Weir

I never thought I would be wild about a gym, but I’m so glad that I joined Altea. The wide variety of classes keeps growing, and they are all included with your membership. I’ve also been very impressed by the level of cleanliness and sanitization during the pandemic.

Edit 14/8/2020 Altea has recently changed the hours of the Smoothie bar to mirror the actual availability. Thank you. Myself and 3 friends that go here have also noted an increase in stock and less "sorry can't make that and we don't have cups" Increasing star rating. I feel that giving this rating entirely based on the gym experience would render a 5 star rating. Unfortunately I rate places as a whole and what beings this place so low is a mixture of things, though related. 1. When rolling out things like swimming, daycare, etc they are like excited teens and push for a quick roll out but poorly executed plans. We registered for swimming, heard nothing for weeks, they took the money. We emailed and called over and over to eventually find out after the program should have started that they cancelled the swimming course due to low interest. It took another few weeks of calls and emails to get our money back because they also believe we never registered our child in the first place... Yet paid. 2. The smoothie bar... Oh boy. Rarely manned, always out of fruit and since I've started I've never left with a regular sized cup, as they are out and I'm given two smalls. They claimed to have changed the opening hours to 7am from 5am which completely ruins my morning smoothie plans. Hours have not changed on their posting though. 3. Lots of power lifter, loud grunting, weight slamming going on here when I've visited. If that's not your thing, I'd recommend not joining. Even with ear buds I can feel the floor move everytime Johnny Sinns drops the weights across the room or on the machine next to me. I can't wait for the pandemic to be over and be able to enjoy all the items I pay for. Sauna, hot tub, pool, and smoothies in the morning. The plan and idea of this gym is fantastic but the execution is lacking and I'd love to see them get their stuff together and fine tune this gym to the giant it should be.

I feel like I have a new family at Altea Active! So I never lack motivation to go. I’ve formed wonderful, supportive relationships with my regular class instructors. The front desk staff are always so friendly and welcoming (and tolerant of my noisy kids). I REALLY value the 2hrs of childminding (at the Active Kids Club, where all the staff are happy, fun and compassionate with the kids) while I work hard in spin or HIIT class... or relax and nurture myself in hot yoga or the steam room/hot tub... or simply escape my own children and have a quiet cup of coffee at Starbucks. Clean, state-of-the-art facility. Membership grants you access to more services than you can imagine. Lastly, the Altea staff - especially Rob Maloff - are very evidently hard-working people and positively welcoming of feedback. I see them making improvements here and there every time I go to the gym... and I go almost every day! Keep up the good work, Altea; you’re my neighbourhood oasis.

Lindsey Minaker

I feel like every time I go to Altea I am spoiling myself! It feels like a SPA. It has everything! And the staff are so friendly. Everything is in pristine condition, and I leave feeling refreshed and like I can't wait to go back! Family swim time is the best!

Patricia Q

Absolutely being careful if you would like to sign contract with them. This gym keeps accumulating membership fees on us after we expressed our concerns regarding to the risk of using the gym during the most sever time of the pandemic and wish to terminate the membership. They even accumulated the charge after the time that our contract was supposed to be ended. We were shocked when received a letter from the credit collection agency since we had zero communications from the gym and we had never used the service during the billing time they claimed. They just sent our information to the third party and damaging our credit score. Absolutely not professional and lacking basic respect to customers. They expect us to keep using the gym on risking our heath even lives. Even the public health orders enforced the gym to close during the pandemic, which is the best evidence of how reasonable our health concerns were. Absolutely ridiculous and making non-sense of what this place did to us.

Anmol Verma

I enjoy my time at Altea, it helps me clear my mind, I just wish it was open later on weekends. The staff at the front desk are so nice and one of the staff I think his name is Mahran, he is such a kind soul!!

Hyohyun

I really like everything about this gym but I wish it opened longer on weekends.

L Friesen

Altea Active does it right! From the cheerful greeting upon arrival, to the impeccably clean environment, superior quality instructors, abundance of equipment and warm atmosphere!

Кирилл Крестич

First impression is good until you start to pay attention to details. Let me tell you what happened to me. So I needed to do my abs and I couldn’t find any bench for abs. So when I went to a staff (a personal trainer) and asked if they have any ordinary bench with a negative incline where I can work on my abs he didn’t have an answer. So he took me to a section of a gym where people work out on their chest and took the bar off and told me to exercise there (photo 1). I was looking for a simple bench as on the picture 2. I am shocked that they have managed to buy a bunch of “fancy” equipment, but didn’t bother to buy essentials. The second point is that the staff was absolutely not friendly answering my question and looked as if they had tons of other things to do and they have no time to help me.

Niala Riaz is the night custodian and she is the best.....she is very caring and takes care of the area in a nice way....when I come in the morning she usually gets off and even though she is tired she still smiles at welcomes the people who come in.....I'm so proud and rest assured that I can trust sitting down enjoying and exercising everywhere in the womens section because I know it's been all disinfected and cleaned in a timely manner....keep it up Niala....u r a hardworking lady....

Kevin Schur

Really like Altea Active--staff are friendly, equipment is brand-new, and an abundance of classes to choose from. Their cardio equipment is also cool because you can watch TV, select a workout program, go on YouTube, or sign in to Netflix to keep binging your favourite show without being on the couch. I also like doing intervals and they have a nice Quick-Pad feature. I go early in the day and almost never have to wait for equipment. I dropped one star due to some minor issues with my daughter's swimming lessons, but I'm sure they'll get it all sorted out as they've been great fine-tuning everything as it gets figured out.

Ayesha Jamal

I have been a member here for a year now. Its the kind of place that makes life a little bit better and your day hella alot better. Staff is super friendly and hardworking. Mehrab has been super kind and has been working diligently to make sure the place is clean and everyone is able to carry on with their workout without a worry. 10/10 would urge you to check it out.

Slava Dubchenko

Be careful with this club, you can easily become a victim of fraud like me. looks like Altea Active steals money. My friend invited me to this club in august 21 to go to swimming pool. It is located not convenient for me, but I agreed to join her that time. i filled in all concerns, forms, paid $25 for the visit (they didn't give me a receipt) and, it appeared that swimming pool was closed that day. Nobody on reception told us that swimming pool was closed. well, we went back right away and I asked for refund. First time the employee asked me if I am ready to come next time and use paid money for the next visit. I told that I leave far rom that area and will not come next time. The employee told me that there shouldn't be problems to refund money, someone would contact me and she gave me a paper and asked to wright down my name and contact information. It was strange because i filled all information in their forms just a few minutes ago. Okey, I wrote done required information one more time. Nobody contact me... I waited for a week and called to the club, described situation and was confused hearing that they don't have any information about me, about my visit that day at all. I was told that they don't keep information for a day visitors.....Very strange... I did ask why I was offered to use my money for the next visit? My fried who invited me contacted them also, we were promised that I would have refund last week.... Nobody still contacted me, no refunds.... That's my true story and experience with Altea Active, very negative experience. Probably I should contact police, I still have evidence from my bank that money was taken... I would update my review and change it from 1 to 5 stars. I am surprised how stuff of Altea Active handled my problem. They did fats and professionally. General manager Tyler Malloy contacted me quickly and arranged not only refund, but also granted a complimentary workout day pass. I am surprised.... and wish you all the best, Atea Active.

sarah alverne

Terrible booking for “swim family activity”. No online booking. Need to call to reserve a spot. Just really frustrating to wait on call and not be able to take your kid to the pool because no one takes your call.

Tonyzee

Lots of things inaccessible to men. I dont mean to be blunt but this gym is essentially one gender subsidizing the other gender. Not woke enough for my taste.

Jennifer Sande

Recently returned to this gym and tried a personal trainer for the first time. Wow! What a difference... every minute coached by Donald is Gold. Thanks for setting me up with such a knowledgeable trainer, Gio!

Ashley B

This gym is absolutely beautiful, with a great variety of high end equipment, and very hard working staff. Even during peak times the gym never feels over crowded or busy, which is probably due to the large square footage (3 floors) and the spacious lay out. There are tons of classes included in your membership, from hot yoga, spin, barre, pilates, TRX, body sculpting, etc. Special shout out to the cycle instructors who taught this past Saturday for the opening weekend, they did such a great job of pushing/motivating the cyclists, while also making sure we had a super fun time. I highly recommend checking out the antigravity yoga class, the Himalayan relaxation salt lounge on the 3rd floor, and the ACTIVATE small group training classes (which will be starting up in January). The pools (access will also be included in your membership) will be completed in December I believe, and will also have its own set of fitness classes you can check out. Ladies! Lots of places to sit in the change rooms with nicely lit mirrors and hair dryers to get ready for work or going out after your workout. Right now they have a great introductory rate, which is amazing value considering everything you get with your membership. The Starbucks and smoothie bar are also a really nice touch. Side note for parents, they also have an active kids club (at an extra cost) if you need to bring your little ones and have someone watch them while you work out. Check out the videos on Altea’s Instagram, it looks like a really cool kids program. The customer service is excellent, and the staff are very friendly. You can see that everyone is working really hard as it’s been extremely busy since the gym opened last week.

Konan Var

I do not recommend Altea as a GYM. It does looks fancy but ... that's all. Overcrowded, unfriendly, one-sided and a bit overpriced. They do not care about you *after* you sign up. Lots of equipment and services you will never use (yet trust me - you are paying for it too lol).

Sandy Finkel

I would like to provide a commendation for Sarrah Menge, the Assistant General Manager. Sarrah is a fantastic customer service ambassador and handled a membership concern with great diplomacy and tact. I really appreciate that she was able to provide a timely solution in such an amicable manner. Your organization is lucky to have her. Thanks so much!

Mandy Hyatt

Huge brand new facility, with a women's only sauna, pool and hot tub. It seems like there is a lot of spaces just for lounging and relaxing. I even saw someone doing their homework in one rest area. The Himalayan Salt room was very chill and they have an impressive yoga studio. Rock wall climbing and aerial aerobics for adventure types and Starbucks for those of us just pretending to work out lol.

erika fenton

If you’re looking for a great gym go here! Spa like and something for everyone! Love it here

Sabina Mekler

Incredible facility! This place offers so much it’s not comparable to any other gym in the city! With such a variety of amazing classes with top-notch instructors, workout will never be boring! The value for the membership rate is UNBELIEVABLE! So grateful to have this place opened so close to home! Thank you ALTEA!!

Daniel Nguyen

Update!! Staff are more friendly but the smoothie bar and Starbucks close 30 mins to 1 hr before . Staff are more organized and friendly Old review Seems like staff at front desk have different knowledge of what is going on. Can't get hold of managers for help. What I wanted was to put my membership on hold for a month and they simply stated the person in charge of that is in a meeting and might want to go home right after, so you should come back tomorrow or to email them directly. You would think a place this size would have more managers to readily assist. The facility is nice and new but is lacking customer service

Elly Aidah

Mehran is an awesome guy very helpful whenever you need anything. Very friendly too. Thumbs up Mehran and thanks Altea Active.

Maria Inthirath

Love the place. It's a very clean environment, close to home. **My bf got a membership same time as me before it opened. But due to him working away with CN. He tried canceling his membership and its been a hassel and run around. The downfall of it they don't mention its a locked contract. You will need to payout the remainder of the contract. They don't mention any of that when you apply. Other then that. It a great place to go. Family friendly. & it has Starbucks.

Faraz Baig

You get what you pay for. Moving over from Planet fitness to Altea was a bit of a jump in expenses but it's worth every penny. Great atmosphere, super friendly front desk staff and yes plenty of equipment so you are not waiting for anything. There is so much to offer that you can't go wrong with this choice. Also with COVID, you want to be sure that you are going to a place which is well sanitized and thats where this gentleman Mehran comes in. Thank you Mehran for providing us the peace of mind by being constantly on the move and keeping the place clean and sanitized. People like you are often the difference between Altea and other gyms in the city!

Michael Fernandez

The facility is huge, well organized, and clean. The machines and weights are all awesome. 10/10 for me.

Gary Penner

Best gym in the city!!! The atmosphere is welcoming and great friendly staff. So much more to Altea than just a gym. I love the modern advanced equipment and all the amenities Altea has to offer. Highly recommend.

Kerri Hopkins

I want to say first off how excited we were to use the facilities, yoga and classes at Altea. We signed up in January of 2020 and had a decent experience. The classes were all good as well as the sauna ( even tho they allowed people to sit in there on their phones which I found to be a beach of privacy ) and when the steam room was functional ( which was not often) we enjoyed that as well. Understanding a newer business would have kinks to work out, it was tolerated. The floors to the showers were super slippery and walking carefully was definitely a must do as not to injure oneself. Once Covid hit we were not comfortable attending. I have a son with severe asthma and did not find it responsible to go and put him at risk. I voiced this in two separate emails snd had no resolve or decent customer service. I haven’t attended since mar of 2020, have not received any solution and found I am still being charged to date. I called today and spoke to a lovely positive and caring gal at reception that was embarrassed to give me an appt. for a phone call March 9 between 9 and 1 This is so beyond lack of professionalism on the part of management. I realize there is a high volume of calls, but this is seen as ok for a timeline and way to respond to upset clients ? I am shocked and very disappointed I ever decided to sign up with Altea.

Punam Mehta

Altea is a gorgeous clean facility, with lots of great classes and very nice people! I also highly recommend this place because its nice and safe for families (swimming lessons, kids club, and more!!).

Laraib Uppal

Pros: the place is stunning, and the hype of a new and bright place helps with creating a fun atmosphere to work out in. Lots of variety for gym equipment. Cons: paid for a swimming pool, but didn't get one off the bat. Staff is a hit and miss (mostly a miss), classes are tight and the anti-gravity room is always packed before I can register, and people wear shoes in the sauna / steam room. Currently at an even divide of pros and cons. Will update after a few more weeks. UPDATE: Covid happened and a good indicator of where my review would tilt was how the gym did not handle covid. Long story short - I, personally, did not like the way the pandemic (from a business perspective - not a sanitization perspective) was handled by Altea. My family and I had a horrible experience and ended up paying to cancel. I doubt I'll be a member again, which is a shame because I referred many to this gym and thought this would be the one. Then I saw the greed.

Fix and food Gman

Great gym- I love how friendly the staff is a Happy greeting very morning is nice- great equipment- equipment for every level - and I love the sauna and steam room- with Keto lost 20 lbs 1st three weeks. Not bad for a old guy

Anthony Castillo

Going to the gym isn't my thing, but Alteactive made it easy for me to start my first day! It's clean and not too crowded during evening workout. The reception is accommodating and my wife enjoys her yoga class. Please keep it up! :)

Jenn Harris

Yesterday was my first day at Altea and I’ve never felt so “at peace” in my life. I have 2 kids (6 year old and a 3 month old) and having the Active Kids Club at Altea is what really sold me. I am able to work out for 2 hours and have some much needed “me” time while I know my kids are in safe hands with their staff. I did the Aqua Fit class yesterday I was a little nervous because I hadn’t done a class before and it was so much fun, everybody had a blast!

Mike Gosling

My experience was fine at Altea however my gf is being scammed out of money right now. She spoke with management to have the membership frozen months in advance and then cancelled however they continue to steal money from her account. Names will be mentioned in the near future if things are not rectified. These big corporate scammers love to play this game however this is not a game that will end in their favour. Dirtbags gonna be dirtbags but not on my watch.

Darolyn Pchajek

Love this gym. So many classes to choose from and yoga is included with your membership. Feels more like going to a spa. Staff is super friendly

David Zinger

A great place to get fit in a moving community of others and you might even find the Himalayan Salt Lounge too.

anurag rawat

I joined ALTEA so i can get all facilities but they say I can only use studio, when there is a class going on. So, I can’t use studio on my own. Also, this doesn’t provoke the COVID guidelines. This is so frustrating, I feel like I got scammed.

Vaibhav Arora

I lost my bag couple weeks ago and One of the Altea staff Mr Mahran helpede to fond bag, he is great

E.J. Mina

I would have given this gym a better rating but the service at the smoothie bar is awful. They are closed more often than open and the hours of operation are unreliable. Would be nice to have consistent hours.

Sam Trinidad (SalmonKraken)

I've been twice in weekend it was the "soft" opening and really enjoyed my time here. I don't think those 1 star reviews are fair. Compared to other local gyms, the weight lifting equipment, cardio machine, crossfit and calesthetics gear is really high quality. I also took a yoga class and I highly enjoyed yoga room and environment. Their fitness room also has nice floors to breakdance on.

JANNI RECORDS CANADA

very Nice Environment , Friendly staff , modern equipment which help to do better workout ????️‍♂️.cycle studio is amazing with big projector screen and amazing sound quality in the cycle studio i never tried cycle studio but i feel the base and sound im doing workout outside of the cycle studio , moreover swimming ????‍♀️ pool clean and beautiful , Best place for kids if you have cute kids????they can play in that section and staff will care of your children. climbing ????‍♀️ section is also for children ,yoga room and so many other things fully loaded with facilities. this gym is worth. i’m not giving 5 stars i’m giving 10 star to Altea Active.

Atif Ahmed

Great equipment poor maintenance, once anything is broken it takes forever management to get it fixed

Aiseosa I

This is hands down the best gym in Winnipeg! I recommend to anyone who wants to meet their fitness goals. The staff are always so friendly, the general vibe of the place is just awesome! Please stop looking anywhere else and get a membership right now!

Huy Hoàng Bùi

Staffs are friendly and informative. Workout place is spacious and clean.

Steve Yeung

Appreciate the hard work from Mahran and Hanfia for the cleaning the changing room. Really feel good about it during this hard time.

Michelle Mouflier

I love this club. Everyone is so friendly and I feel at home here. The amenities are top of the line, but the cost is slightly less than I was paying at the Y. So glad to be back!!

Alex Shao

Unfortunately, I had negative experience with Marcus (personal trainer) over the 12-month personal training promotion. The case could have been handled in another way. He basically insinuated that I was making him work for free. How do you expect to someone to go back to you after that?

S D

Everything about the gym is great. BUT I wish they would have considered a basketball court (even if only half court)/Racquetball court when building the gym. it would have been a great addition for members and i know for a it would have driven the membership up quite a bit for the owners. Hopefully they will consider an addition at some point...maybe a rooftop basketball court??... other than that gym is pretty good.

Jasmine CM

Honestly I was so excited about this place opening. Got my membership. Then comes time for swim registration. They called it a soft registration which firstly is not a thing. I registered , got charged and recieved an email that my card was denied(it wasnt). I contacted them 4 times in 5 business days with no response. Called , emailed and instagrammed. Finally got an email back stating I has registered but that could change anyday.... like what? Dont charge my card then. Then now I havent heard if my son is actually in this class. I've emailed. No response. It's supposed to start tomorrow. Luckily I called and they were able to confirm FINALLY but seriously unacceptable and would NOT recommend.

enny okedara

Lost my wallet the day before with my card and cash inside. One of the custodians found it and had it ready for me the next day with everything still there. His name was maharan I believe. Really grateful

Milena Zdjelar

This place is absolutely UNREAL!!! It's unlike anything I've ever seen before in Winnipeg. Staff is super friendly and approachable. State of the art equipment and machines and not hard to navigate once you've had a tour of the place. As someone who loves diversity in their workout and lifestyle routine, this place is perfect!!

Melanie Schellenberg

Absolutely love the gym. It is clean and the staff is very friendly and helpful.

estela penado

I was invited as a guest to Altea Active through Mahran, and my god is this place beautiful. There is so much to look forward to, and the amount of facilities is indescribable. I can’t thank Mahran enough for showing me this gorgeous gym, so I decided that I’d like to continue coming with a membership. I definitely think it’s worth it’s price! Mahran on the other side, is awesome. As we walked through the gym, he got along with everyone, which is so great. He’s a hardworker, with a huge heart!

Haaroon Kinnarath

I cut my hand on one of the machines and an employee named Mahran was very helpful and determined to get my hand bandaged up. Great Service and very friendly.

Karl Copp

Have loved this place since day one. First gym that has gotten me up at 615am ever for a month now. It's better than a gym it's a true fitness center... Both mental and physical fitness. Love the classes. Love the spa area and love the whole vibe. Has really changed my life this year.

Anna Hughes

While I have no issues with their facilities, I am very disappointed in how they treat the adjacent neighbourhood. They do activities outside during the pandemic and start very loud music early in the day. For example, on May 21 they woke me up at 6:30 am. They are technically more than 150 meters from our houses backing onto Kenaston but their music is very loud. I wish they were more mindful of people around them.

Joanna Gies

I am a studio instructor and LOVE it here! Best front desk staff, studios are always clean and the members are fantastic! Really and truly a no judgement , have a great workout or recharge place!

Atiya Khatoon

I told them many times that I dont feel comfortable going to their facility during the pandemic and that I haven't been there in months yet they continue to charge me and that if I cancel the contract I would have to pay them extra I want a refund for all the money that I have been charged, they need to change there policy due to covid, you can just tell by this that all they care about is money and not the well being of the costumers this is super unprofessional.

Brian Webster

Don't believe any negative reviews. This place is amazing! Has everything that you are looking for and more. Incredibly clean facility with extremely friendly and helpful staff. They have one year membership options and options where you can cancel at any time. It's a welcome change from Shapes and Goodlife.

Julian Z

The gym is getting more organized now than back in December but there’s more room for improvement. The showers are now cleaned regularly. The pools are now opened, yet classes fill up very quickly. The pool water could be warmer. One thing that really bothers is that the gym seems to have oversold it’s memberships. We try to avoid going there 4:30pm-7:30pm as this period is the most crowded time. Really hard to find parking and the lockers are always full. Not to mention that classes are mostly overcrowded as well. Thus, we usually go after 7pm but they don’t really have much class after this time. I only asked for some hot yoga vinyasa flow evening classes, but they never added. Feedbacks sent seem to be useless. Not sure why they created that feedback email. Although this is a good gym with brand new equipments, they really need to add more evening classes.

Juena Akter

Best gym in Winnipeg. The people who works there are friendly, helpful, and amazing. The trainers are awesome and hard working. I have been training with David Jo. He is one of the best trainer. He encourages a lot and motivates to do better. I never thought I will be consistent or have confidence to go to the gym often before I started training with him. Thank you Altea. If you are looking for personal trainer, Altea is the one. Love the environment of the gym????.

Rowan Shymko

Mahran does an amazing job at keeping the gym very clean and is super friendly. The cleanliness is the highlight of the gym. During these times with covid I really appreciate the hygenic enviroment.

Al B

Just meh. When I first joined, I was in awe. The facility is bright and has lots of options for equipment. I wish there was more options for classes in the mornings. I did not think a non-24 hour gym would affect me, but it does. Closing at 8:00pm on weekends is quite early. It is quite busy at all hours of the day and sometimes is hard to get the weights or machines needed. Parking when it's 'busy' is a nightmare with cars circling the lot scouting for spots to open up. The change room lockers are very small and only limited amounts of full size ones so it is often hard to find any size locker during busier times. It is quite compact and not much room for people to go around one another. I do really enjoy the facility and appreciate the changes being made to make everyone have a better experience. For the price of the membership and amenities offered, you can't go wrong. Just wanted to share my critical thoughts.

Brook Penner

In October 2020 I signed up for a gym membership with Altea active. Their facility was beautiful, and had everything I was looking for in a gym! Less than ONE month later I had to cancel my membership due to an injury, only to find out I was committed to a 1 year contract that wasn't disclosed to me when I signed up. I paid for that one year membership even though I NEVER used it as management refused to compromise or let me settle. On March 4th 2021 I had a phone an appointment to confirm my membership cancelation in October (only place that's ever required me to do so). When checking my CC balances in December 2021 I found out that they were STILL charging me and signed me up for another contract! After making ANOTHER phone appointment to cancel my membership they refused to refund my money even though I had been handing it over to them for a year and never once going to their gym. Beyond irate. There won't be a next time.

NM

Gorgeous health, beauty, and acitivty centre. Beautiful equipment, friendly staff, wonderful accommodations and lovely people. The nicest gym I've visited in a long time.

Moona Gheytarani

Altea Active is a gym like no other. The atmosphere is so welcoming, and kind, I have not seen one so similar. Not too long ago, there was a Custodian by the name of Mehran. My God, does he put all his love and effort into keeping the gym clean. I always see him, doing the best and giving 110%. Not only does he keep the place clean, he interacts with the customers, which in my past experiences, I have never seen. He is a phenomenal person, with a huge heart, and love for what he does. Great job Altea in hiring him!

Aaron Albanito

Love this gym so far! Facility is very nice, Only thing missing would be 24h OR If they were open till midnight during the week and at least 10 pm on weekends

Viviana Vaserman

This is my place , it feels a country club . I never was a gym person until I signed in Altea . The classes , equipment , instructors , customer service , support , front desk are unique !!!! Firt time in my life I go to the gym everyday . Nobody recognizes me , me neither . You don’t know what this place means to me , changed my life !!!

michelle crookshanks

Loved our tour, and it’s very spacious. They are very friendly, helpful and they try to make your experience enjoyable and safe. My son had a personal trainer and he was really good, by explaining, showing and helping us with equipment and developing a personalized plan to get into shape. It was awesome and I recommend you check out this place!

Sonia L-B

The facility is beautiful. I wish they offered more hot yoga classes. I go during the day and it is not too busy-not sure how it is on weeknights.

Joanna Ascencion

Altea Active is crazy!!!!! (I mean that in a good way) Such a beautiful club with such friendly and amazing people working as well! Everything is under one roof with top notch equipment and offer many classes, one being anti gravity yoga!!! Nothing like it in Winnipeg ????

Deenah DSB

Great place! The front desk gang is superb, so you feel good just walking in the door! All the equipment you could ask for, and a great range of group fitness classes from the more traditional to the unique. I love the salt lounge and the climbing wall!

Katherine Hellmuth

The gym is very well run. The cleaner on duty was very professional in his way of telling members to remember to wear their masks. He was polite but explained the importance of it. Thank you Mahran for taking care of all of us.

raghees bashir

the gym is very clean, very good service, friendly staff, Mahran is keep the gym clean and tidy.

Rick Vos-Wiebe

Very friendly staff, large workout areas with all types of weight machines, free weights, cardio machines, awesome locker rooms with sauna, steam and hot tubs, pool, group training area, many many classes, Himalayan salt lounge plus a Starbucks & smoothie bat before you leave the building.

Susan Cave

Altea is an amazing gym. Great classes, awesome instructors. The staff is friendly, they have staff cleaning at all times. I feel really safe here regarding covid. I’ve been a member of other gyms and this is by far the ultimate place to work out.

E S

If you for any reason do not feel comfortable attending altea during Covid they will absolutely not let you freeze your membership UNLESS you upgrade and actually pay more for a monthly membership. So be aware that if you buy a membership here good luck having it handled reasonably regardless of communication from the membership team

Val W

Loving my membership at Altea Active in Winnipeg. The scanning system for the Technogym equipment makes it easy to keep electronic data of my weight training and treadmill workouts. Can’t wait for the further openings in the future, yes, the pool will be a great addition. Well worth the membership fees.

Victoria Griffioen

I have always found the staff friendly and professional. It's a very clean gym with a great variety of machines and equipment. I was wary of working out with a mask on so I made the call today and was able to put a hold on my membership for 3 months no hassle at all. Just being polite gets you pretty far.

Lisa Thomson

I was excited about this place but since it's opening I feel like things are getting worse. Multiple times the washrooms have been very messy and I've informed the staff there's no toilet paper, go back after I finish my hour workout and still no toilet paper. They have rules posted but no one inforces them. They say everyone must wear a shirt but more than a few ppl working out in just their sports bras. Weights left all over the place, etc. Absolutely zero etiquette for the saunas and steam room. The locker room and lockers are way too small, it's as if they have forgotten that people have jackets. It's always crowded and ppl scrambling for a locker or taking up 2. And now there has been 2 times I've gone and there is ZERO parking available. That being said it is a nice facility with lots of options to workout on your own or in a class, I hope these are growing pains but things seem to be going in the other direction currently.

UPDATE Jan 7: Just as an update from Altea commented saying they would be in touch and have their GM contact us for a solution: there has been no contact and no resolution. Really, really disappointed in this place. They were so accommodating and gracious when we were touring it. There was even a few months free promotion going on. We were enamoured and excited just like everyone is. But read the low star reviews = once they have your credit card number, they aren't so gracious anymore. We made a huge mistake with a lack in judgement being pushed into signing up for the year contract. Our membership started Oct 2020, and it was closed for covid less than 3 weeks later. Classes were ridiculously difficult, so didn't get to experience those, nor the pool, nor all of the machines. Code Red happened, I lost my job, and it's to be closed until at least January. Which means we went to the gym a handful of times, and will not have gone for 2.5 months by the time they reopen (maybe). They may comment here mentioning their online videos- that doesn't work for everyone. We tried to cancel due to the change in our financial circumstances, but they just said no, they'll keep pushing our membership forward and won't cancel. Now we're at MAY 2022 -- almost 1.5 YEARS commitment from now!? We have hardly been there at all, much less actually trial the gym for the full access to amenities that they boast. These are hard times for so many families financially - we were just trying to stay active and sane. We aren't the kind of income family who don't care about $80/month for a gym membership, especially with this huge decrease in income. We are sincerely worried about what we are going to do about this and their staff refuse to release us from this huge contract we hardly used and can no longer afford. They only care about money, not about the people. They're feedback nor membership emails didn't help us. Please don't give us the generic "we care, email us!" save-face comment that you give all of these. We would much rather appreciate compassion and action.

Alex

I’d like to thank Mahran for always keeping the mens locker room clean, I appreciate you my man and always glad to see you and have a conversation with you! Cheers

Mike Legge

EDIT: In response to Altea's response below - yes I talked with the GM about it today, and the reason he gave me is making less and less sense the more I think about it. I won't go in to details here, but I will be speaking to the GM again next time I see him. It just absolutely baffles me that Altea's management and partnership group/investors/owners (whoever - because the blame is never really on anyone, is it?), choose to only communicate by one method (social media), to only a portion of their members, effectively leaving those members who are not on instagram or other social media in the dark. Does that make any sense to you, anonymous Altea response person? And again - the reason given to my by the GM just makes it seem like they are blowing smoke.....you know where. I'll speak with him again soon I'm sure. This likely won't change or get resolved however, because as many others have pointed out already in other reviews, at Altea, it's not about their members, it's about the almighty $$$ and their bottom line. Communication from Altea to its members is terrible. They seem to only post on social media when they need to inform their members of something, and even then it is mostly on Instagram. Guess what Altea - not everyone is on social media. I have brought this up with the GM multiple times, and though he claims that my feedback has been heard, loud and clear, this method of “communication” seems to be the norm. Yes, they send out monthly newsletters to all the members via email, but they refuse to send out emails for important info that comes up short notice. Here is the latest: last Sunday I arrived at the club for a 10am spin class. I waited outside the cycle studio as there was a class already in there. After sitting for a minute or two, I thought about it and didn’t recall seeing a class on the schedule before the one that I was in at 10. I checked the app and there was no scheduled class before the one I was in. I thought that was weird, so I went to ask the front desk what class was in there. Lo and behold, it was the class that I was signed up for, at 10 am, but it actually started at 9am, even though the schedule on the app showed that the class starts at 10. The front desks explanation was “we are on summer hours now, they put out a message on Instagram last night” - like I was some kind of idiot for not memorizing the schedule. I completely understand that there was a time change last weekend, I also completely understand that there can be technical errors with the app etc. But, I completely do not understand why the hell they only post on social media and they can’t send out a mass email to all members? I have emailed the GM asking for an explanation as to why they refuse to do this, and, as is expected with Altea’s amazing communication, he has not responded to me. Communication from Altea to its staff is also terrible. Ask the same question to 3 different staff members and you will get 3 different answers a good deal of the time. Over a year in and they still can’t get their stuff together. How long is it going to take? Altea needs to do better, and I’m really starting to doubt that they will.

Ram Patti

I love ❤ to work out at Altea. Staff great me with my name. I find this facility always clean.

Ray Charles

This gym is a joke. Nobody enforces masks. Everyone works out with their mask as a chin support or with their nose hanging out. You have to lineup outside of the weight room and wait for over an hour sometimes just to get inside. Absolute joke. Go to a gym that understands scheduling gym time or you'll spend longer waiting in line than working out

Rebecca Hoffer

Incredibly disappointed in Altea Active's response to the covid pandemic and making life work for their members. This went from being my favourite place in Winnipeg, to being the biggest pain and headache in my life. I'm a nurse in a covid ward who has been denied membership holds and cancellations over and over, managers have refused to call me back, refused to meet with me, and been rude and snarky to my face while trying to come up with a solution. I've watched employees play with their masks, pull them down over and over, touch their mask then touch things around them without washing their hands etc. So entirely unimpressed.

Bohyun Seo

They don’t follow health orders. Today I saw a staff chatting with a patron who wasn’t wearing a face covering/ mask (he was wearing his mask on his neck) and they were within a meter apart. It was quite disturbing. Also I noticed that staff don’t tell people who don’t wear mask properly to wear the mask correctly.

SPR٭͜PREET

Mahran he’s doing great job, Shower area are so clean and all the change room as well!!

Arsh Barmi

Great staff and and great atmosphere. Mehran is such a good worker and very helpful with everything he does and always working hard.

Mandy Beach

Recently joined and I am throughly impressed with the facility and staff. Everything is always clean and comfortable. The classes I have taken have been enjoyable. The amenities are endless. Special Shout out to Afton who has been nothing short of spectacular.

Rose

I felt scammed. I met up with Zoey Xu to see the gym and she answered important questions I had about the membership. I took a few days to think it over, And the day I came in to pay and start my membership, I wanted to confirm the things we had talked about and she gave me the complete opposite answer. Unfortunately it was a deal breaker for me.

Kathy Pragnell

Went to a HIIT class and then Float Fit Balance. Both awesome! Beautiful and clean showers stocked with body wash, shampoo and conditioner. And didn’t need to bring a hairdryer (which I forgot anyway)! Ended my morning with a yummy smoothie from the Smoothie Bar!

Daniel Bulmer

Nice facilities, but way to busy. Becoming nearly impossible to book a class. Weight room is always crowded.

Kyle Braun

Climbing area is tons of fun for all ages. The staff is friendly and helpful.

B J

Nice gym and classes are good. However, I will be cancelling my membership if they don’t figure out a way to keep the men’s change room cleaner. It is a massive mistake having a concrete floor in the change room- people track snow/dirt into the change room with their boots and then their sandals pick up the dirt and scatter it all over (showers, steam, sauna etc).Dirty boot water everywhere in the change room. It is disgusting. My advice to management would be to visit the reh-fit and copy their flooring.

Darlene Tresoor

$30 million complex and have absolutely terrible sinks and paper towel dispensers. Like c'mon man. Also, why do we have to wear masks in the common rooms and not the gym/workout facility? Why even wear the mask then. The hot spot for transferring the virus would be where all the heavy breathing and touching of things is.

kristin cormier

Wow what an amazing gym. It has alot to offer. Rock climbing, smoothie bar and a Starbucks are some of the many awesome things!

Cece Gillete

This was the worst job I ever had, every day I dreaded coming into work and picking up slack for management and department heads who refused to communicate information to appropriate departments, rude and entitled sales and management. If you're not one of their friends don't expect to be treated well. If you're a hard worker other staff will notice and WILL take advantage of you and slack off. Complaints and suggestions are not taken seriously from cleaning staff as they are expected to carry out a gigantic work load that is not appropriately staffed. All decent department heads were sent to Toronto to leave Winnipeg to continue to deteriorate, since I've left it is regularly quite dirty and basic tasks are clearly not completed. leaving this job changed my life for the better.

Sushie Singh

My daughter attended a Birthday party here. Very happy that QR codes were being scanned, surfaces were constantly sanitized and hand sanitizers were easily accessible. Staff was very friendly and helpful and answered all questions. Please ensure you fill out the waiver to use the climbing area. Suitable for children 4 years and up. Lots if fun.

Rachael Danylyk

This facility is beautiful and has so many spa like amenities. You literally feel like your walking into another Thermea. It's so big, that it never feels over crowded, yet the parking lot is packed! I'm so happy that Altea choose Winnipeg to open there first one. Winnipeg needs this with our harsh winters. I would highly recommend this facility for anybody of any fitness level! Thank you for opening up here!

Jason Chartrand

Great facility but surprisingly poor app/website and weird adds. We have had a loooot of trouble trying to book the active kids club through their website which is confusing because they have an app and two different websites for booking appointments. They also have a public website which does not appear to have any links for member login. All in all weeeird stuff, shouldn't everything just be done in the app? Also, I had a password issue, where the reset isn't working and when we called the front desk we got a curt reply that IT would eventually get back to us, but that it would take several days, honestly, Id rather just have it work the first time for almost 100$ of membership costs a month. Also they have these weird posters throughout the place showing people who had dramatic weight loss over a 2 week period, which, weird, but, also, not healthy, and, dumb, I think it is a contest so that makes it even worse, overall, amazing building but really, really bad management. Update - a couple weeks later and there are new bugs in booking the with the active kids club, still have to reset my password every time to login but now it won't let me select me child for booking, very frustrating.

l C

Great facility, awesome staff, premium equipment, great amenities and value in the membership, cleaning staff are always on top of things. The weight section is just a little small considering the amount of members they have but awesome place to workout at overall.

sijie Song

Help yourself, stay away from this place. I was very excited when I knew there would be a new gym in bridgewater neighborhood and I registered the early deal, but this is how I started my story. Long time ago , I signed the early deal, but in November I realized I was pregnant and could not be able to do any excise. I sent them an email cancel the membership. After couple weeks , still got no response so I decided to go to the front desk and tried to explain my situation. The front desk was nice and said totally understood, they would cancel the service. Turned into December, I was checking my bills and realized they still deducted the money from my credit card so I went to the front desk again with my husband and asked if anything went wrong with my cancellation. What I was told this time surprised me very much because they told me did not have any cancellation request and they did not stop the membership in the front desk. I tried to tell the stories and told them my first start day would be on December 3rd and still within one week, so it should be no problem to stop my membership. Otherwise, I did not get any copy of my contract or any notice of the starting date. Finally, they took all my deposits plus activation fee ,plus the cancellation fee which were over 200 dollars . And I never ever have seen my membership card because I never activated my membership . 7 days free trial and no pressure cancellations are jokes, probably you will be told you missed the free cancellation because you never know when it started

Riley Cannon

Really good gym, has a lot to offer. The pool temperature is pretty unpredictable but still really nice. Little pricey though at $36 biweekly for new members.

Courteney Maydaniuk

I’ve been interested in joining for almost a month now, I asked exactly how much it would cost including all fees etc. I have now been told 3 different answers on top of learning about a new fee every encounter. It is also extremely misleading their promo for “no enrolment fees” is for a new fee and not their existing fee they already mentioned. So in case anyone is interested the information I have learnt which may or may not be correct based on who you talk to is $20 “fitness assessment fee” $100 “non commitment fee” your first and last payment and a mystery amount “enrolment fee” so you are looking at roughly $175 plus just to join and not sure if it’s worth it based off what I heard from word of mouth. Update: Because I can’t reply that is not what I was informed I was told there is $100 enrolment fee on top of a $100 non commitment fee as well as the $20 percent physical assessment fee (which is non optional which I would never want anyone to do anyways) as well as the first and last payment.

The gym is beautiful and alot of great classes. I think you have oversold on memberships. Even though we had a concern about this when signing up we were told there would only be a certain number of memberships sold. Parking lot is always full. Overfilled. No parking available. There has been line ups to get in the parking lot and people just left as there was no parking available. I was there today and there was no lockers free in the woman's change room. It's too busy! The steam shower has been out of order a few times. Today the hot tub was out of order and the showers had no water pressure the last 2 times I was there. I hope there is a solution in place to fix the overcrowding and obviously oversold on memberships .

Love, love, love ❤️???????? I'm a new-ish member and first-time ever to a gym. Altea is spacious and beautiful. I feel comfortable in all the spaces I have used so far. It is very clean and well-appointed. I can honestly say I believe there is a place for everyone to enjoy and work toward their personal wellness goals. Body. Mind.

Beautiful facility! Their equipment is top notch and there is a good selection of fitness classes. There is a smoothie bar and you can earn points for free smoothies. The climbing gym is so fun for kids and adults alike! Definitely apply for a free trial and see for yourself if it's for you - one of the best gyms in Winnipeg!

J H

They seem big on trying to get you to come for the tour of the facility without giving you an idea of how much it's going to cost to use it. I've called twice asking about information on a personal trainer only to be told that the person on the phone couldn't give me a ballpark figure because they have multiple packages available and that the PT manager would call me back to give me the details...with no return phone call. Maybe they have all the business they need right now? It doesn't look like they're interested in mine. FWIW the person on the phone each time I called was pleasant and polite.

Suzanne Harden

Amazing facility, nothing like it in Winnipeg. Lot's of great class options for all fitness levels. Staff is always very friendly and helpful. Go check it out, you won't be disappointed.

Cyril Karwa

New smart equipment means you can track your exercises using an app. Loads of machines means you will rarely have to wait to do your cardio. I have used plenty of gyms but this is hands down the best I have had the pleasure of visiting

jennifer cornelsen

This used to be my favorite place. Since Covid, I have been unable to get into a single class. I often cannot use a squat rack, or sometimes even a bench as they are full. It is far more busy than pre-covid. It is a beautiful facility, but without accessible classes or equipment it is a waste of time and money. I will not be renewing my membership and will go somewhere that I can adequately get my workout done.

Vikki Pink

Been a member here for about two weeks now. Tori took me on a tour of the place as I had requested one online. She answered all of my questions. First impressions: a gorgeous facility. There is a Starbucks and smoothie bar in house. It’s clean and modern. You can tell it’s a higher end athletic club. There is a daycare, two pools, rock climbing, a floor dedicated to yoga and relaxation and a large work out facility on the second floor. There is a women’s only side to the facility. A women’s only pool. A large change room with sauna, showers, a women’s only work out area with weights, machines, squat racks, cardio equipment and a studio for classes. The women’s weight room opens out into the regular weight area for coed and the rest of the floor. They have very modern work out equipment- they even have bumper plates for the coed squat section which is fantastic. price wise- you get what you pay for. And I’ll be completely honest I was paying the same price as the premium membership at a smaller family owned gym that had much less perks. So it was a no Brainer to change and upgrade. Also I got tons of credits to use towards smoothies, coffees and other various in house services. They also have a point system where you earn points by going to the gym, inviting friends, etc. these points accumulate and you can use them in gym! Love it a great motivational factor. Also their smoothie bar makes AMAZING smoothies. Great post work out treat. As far as being busy- I was reading people’s complaints. I’m not sure if I just have it good because Covid is still a rampant issue, but for the most part haven’t had too much trouble getting access to what I need. It definitely is busy at times and can be intimidating but seeing a full parking lot does not equate to full work out space. It depends on classes that are running, swimming lessons, etc. so I’m learning not to be too freaked out by the number of cars. Great gym. Would recommend if you have the funds to spoil yourself.

Amazing Gym, I had personal training here with Oliver. He is a professional coach and he always makes the workout fun!

Mahar Lak

Great place to work out, swim and have an all round good experience. Staff super friendly especially Mehran, always ready to help. They keep it clean for us and have a quick response.

darrell warren

Great set up, great equipment and very helpful and friendly staff. Also very impressed with how quickly they fix broken equipment (average 2-3 days tops) where other gyms such as GoodLife or Snap fitness can have the same piece of broken equipment for 6 months.

Marnie Ladd

Beautiful facility! Very Clean. We love the variety of classes. 2 swimming pools! Very comfortable place for women. We found upper management to be extremely profesional, especially through Covid shutdown and concerns. We are looking forward to going back.

Noah Kaminsky

Mahran always on top of his game keeping the gym and change-room spotless and such positive energy!!!

Song Marina

The manager must be very very busy, because I made an appointment in February in order to talk to manager for the cancellation of my membership, but no people call me. And I got an email saying my account is overdue. But the contract should be end already. Even, I called today, the employee said the same thing, make an appointment and manager gonna call me. I can’t trust this again. And I found even the contact is ended, they will still take money( this is what the front desk said to me). Durning the COVID, always so many cars park in the parking lot, always look like full of people. Scared!

Chang Hong

Mahran, he is a great/hardworker friend. He is kind and always come with a great attitute. He is always ready to help and im greatful to him. I also love how this gym is so diverse it has a swimming pools also consists of multiple yoga studios. Also those smoothies taste GREAT!!!!

hongyang ji

If you like this gym becuz pools. There are few thinks that membership seller won’t tell you. Pools will reserved about 4 hours per day around 3 pm to 8 pm for personal lessons only or family swim. When pools not reserve, when anyone take a personal lesson, the private trainer will come to tell you “we need your lane for lesson”. Even there no more lane when there are many people.

Sukhvir Kaur

I went to the facility in hope that i might get an quick tour but when i entered they said no one was available and lady at the front was rude didn’t even bother to ask if i want to book an appointment or should have roughly gone through the charges thats all i wanted to know.Thats not the way they should be handling their walk in customers.

Jayden Wittenberg

The gym equipment is great, there are a variety of classes offered, and the customer service from the staff is top notch. I highly recommend this gym to anyone.

Hello fellow Winnipeggers - I just wanted to take this time to share my recent experiences at the new Altea Active. Being a born and raised Winnipegger, living in communities such as Fort Garry, Old St. Vital and now Bridgwater I've joined my fair share of gyms. But Altea, Altea is on a completely different galaxy. The last two times I was there, the staff was friendly, the place was very clean and the vibe was positive from the moment you walk in the door. This 80,000 square foot has everything. If for some reason, a Himalayan salt inhalation room, yoga & cycling, skating, rock climbing, a pool and a rock climbing station doesn't interest you, then what do you like? You may also be thinking, well that all sounds nice but I heard the rock climbing station, pool and skating area isn't even open yet...well you're right. But it's coming, and coming quick. I only jump on Google Reviews for certain occasions but this is definitely one! See you at Altea Winnipeg. You won't regret it.

I had the pleasure of meeting a very a friendly employee working at altea named Mahran. I really appreciated the help and guidance he provided me in understanding how the facilities work. He is an effective and patient communicator. He works really hard at his sanitation tasks and makes sure to keep the facility clean & orderly.

john olinski

This is a beautiful gym with amazing people. It always looks professional, and have lots of sanitizing everywhere. I saw a custodian cleaning around the Starbucks area yesterday, i think names Mehran, was doing an amazing job. I am truly very happy with my experience here.

Richard T

I will start by saying I'm very happy with the facility overall and glad I joined. The instructors for the classes are typically outstanding and the facility is beautiful. The change room, steam room, etc is great. I also witness them cleaning often and believe they are trying their best to be covid safe. Can you please monitor your front desk employees who refuse to answer the phone? It becomes an issue when your system for things like family swim is to call the front desk 24 hours before and they dont answer. As you know it sells out immediately so it's nearly impossible to get in under your current system. There needs to be a way to register through the app because the telephone thing is a complete joke. Also, as others have mentioned. Many of the personal trainers have weak client service skills and I have witnessed them on their phones or completely disengaged while working with a client. There seems to be a significant "bro" culture among many of these employees (men and women) so I'm not surprised others have noticed the unprofessionalism. I'm shocked that anyone pays $600 a month for this. The weight area is packed with body builders and yes there needs to be more areas for free weights or mat work so I understand why others are too intimidated to go in there and wait for machines. But overall it's not the worst I've seen. The sauna is always luke warm. Unfortunately the way the turf section is designed, as soon as 1 person sits there to stretch or sit on their phone (pretty much constantly) it makes things like sled push completely unusable. I believe the purpose of the turf is to do explosive activities such as sled push not for 1 person to sit on their instagram...but not surprised since there are few other places to stretch or use free weights.

Altea is an amazing gym. Great classes, awesome instructors. The staff is friendly, they have staff cleaning at all times. Mehran is very friendly and always keeps locker room neat and clean

Mari Ann Ruczak

The people who work here make Altea an amazing gym. They are truly kind and helpful, members appreciate there incredible dedication. ????

I had a fantastic experience with the front desk staff. The entire place is amazing and so are the classes. I highly recommend this gym to everyone!

shima Talebi

Great facility however the pool water temperature is kept very low. Had our 3 year old for the family swim and we were all shivering the whole time in the water. Other people, especially the ones with little ones, were also complaining about the same. We regularly take the kids to Rady pool and never felt this cold. Hope the management sees the urge to spend a few more bucks on the heating to make the family pool a pleasant spot like the rest of the facility.

Club is nice, clean and the staff are friendly. However, the club has not dealt with covid restrictions proactively. Specifically, the clubs "first come first serve" policy isn't working. Having to wait hours to use the weight room is not feasible. The club should consider a booking system to alleviate this issues.

Denver Martin

I went there and I wanted to inquire about a personal trainer however I am very disappointed and pretty surprised to learn that most of the personal trainers have no idea what they're talking about. From what I was told none of them have a degree in Kinesiology or even nutrition. I know that this isn't necessary to be a personal trainer however my point is why would I pay more here compared to other gyms with personal trainers with more education and experience? And when I asked about formal education they were blowing it off as it wasn't a big deal. Would you bring your car to a certified mechanic or a guys garage who says he's been working on cars his whole life and pay the same price? Heads up to anyone looking into getting a personal trainer there. They also had bad customer service

Hannah McIsaac

DO NOT JOIN. You wont be able to get into any classes. It seems like a great gym but they could not care less about customer experience. I originally joined Altea Active because I wanted to do their classes, however they have had reduced class sizes, and are still selling memberships (ALOT). This leads to too many people looking for classes, over 90% of classes were full within 3 seconds of being able to book them. They were still charging me full price even though I couldn’t get into anything. Too bad because its a nice gym, but don't join if you actually want to go to classes..

ahmadraza jamal

The gym takes care of its members and cleanliness during these tough times. The whole staff is very welcoming and especially the staff that clean and sanitize the equipments. One person in particular that has been very friendly and has been doing a wonderful job is Mehran, who’s been taking care to sanitize the equipments well, keeping a friendly demeanor, all the while working his very best at the gym.

Moriah DeFord

I've had a membership for a little over a year. I've tried to come at several times during the day and evening and no equipment is ever available. For the 100s of memberships they are giving out and massive square footage of the building, they only supplied two flat bench presses and 4 squat racks. They invested more in a wild amount of cardio machines. Sad. Also, good luck booking a class, they're always full. My last two membership payments were higher than they were supposed to be without informing me of an increase. When I signed the contract I was told that membership fees would not increase as long as I held the membership. I've emailed this concern to inquire why I was charged too much and to request a refund. The response was that I needed to give them 4-7 business days to respond to my email. They seem to have plenty of staff to book tours and sign up new members, why would it take a week to get an email response for a concern? Poor customer service. It is incredibly difficult to get anyone on the phone. Will most likely be canceling this membership after my PT contract is up.

Tejas Bhardwaj

Great gym specially the workers they help make things a lot easier, Mahran was his name I believe he was amazingly helpful at the same time amazing person to ask for help and he makes sure everything in the place is really clean.

Jon Pascual

Went to Altea Active for the first time and took the kids to ninja/rock climbing course. Dealt with Maddie and she was great with the kids, super professional, and very friendly!! Great experience overall and I will definitely look at applying for a membership.

Jennifer Arcand

People who complain about this place are the type of people who just like to complain. It's clean, the staff are wonderful, and the endless options for studio fitness will keep you coming back every day just so you can do it all. I used to wonder how people make time to go to the gym 5+ days a week, but I am able to do it here because it is just so motivating. I LOVE this gym!

Barrett Ferguson

This gym is awesome. My wife and I love it here. The staff are great and you’re warmly greeted every day you walk in. And the staff at the smoothie bar and Starbucks are really kind and always greet me with a smile. Met the assistant general manager the other day and she was awesome as well. Great equipment, awesome staff, and a really nice place to relax for a bit after a workout.

court mmer

Always have a good experience at the gym, including classes. Lots of space, everyone seems to be cognizant of cleanliness and kind behavior. Really really happy I signed up for a membership.

Andrea Kinsman

I love the diversity of my workouts. The gym routine has turned less “routine” and more experiential. I’m constantly trying new things and have a plethora of options to match what I feel like my body and mind need on any given day. Love …

Mikaela

So grateful to be part of the Altea Active community! The facility is beautiful, have clean locker rooms/studios/pools, friendly staff and a Starbucks and smoothie bar! Would highly recommend :)

Do you like to wear your mask around your chin while working out? Do you like dirty washrooms? Do you like fitness attendants laughing at you when you make a simple mistake? Well Altea is the place for you!!! I have been working out at Altea for a year now and they claim " Our health is more important than ever and Altea Active is here to support the community" which is is probably the most backwards and laughable statement ever. Today I asked a fitness attendant to talk to a client who has had their mask below their chin for 10 mins (not falling down in the middle of a set, to drink water or just down for a few seconds to catch their breath, it was fully down), she chatted to him and nothing changed. Last week I watched a fitness attendant laugh and talk about a client to another client after she walked into the weight area without scanning the QR code, which is a mistake that I feel like most of us have made because it is poorly advertised. I cannot wait until the new Goodlife opens up and I know that I am not the only one who thinks this. This facility clearly does not promote physical health and safety and honestly should be embarrassed to even pretend that they do.

Dursameen Bashir

Altea Active is an amazing atmosphere. Mehran is always keeping the gym clean and is a very helpful employee when it comes to anything anyone needs!
