We offer you the feddbacks of real people who use the products and services of GoodLife Fitness London Masonville (Gym) in the territory of London (Canada).
At this moment this business receives a rating of 3.8 stars over 5 and the score is based on 127 reviews.
You may have noticed that the average of ratings is quite high, and it is founded on a very high number of feddbacks, so we may be pretty sure that the valuation is very accurate. If people have bothered to give their feddback when they've done well with the business, it works.
As you know, we don't usually bother to set feddbacks when these are positive and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or incidence...
This Gym belongs to the category of Gym.
Update #2: Thank you for replying so quickly. The number you have provided is who I have been in contact with. So your sales person lied about the No freeze charges on my contract and for 20 years even last year your company abided by the No charge for placing my membership on hold. Update: I’ve had my GoodLife contract for years when I signed it I was told I could freeze it at anytime at no extra charge. Now they are trying to charge me $10 a month for not using my membership. Be very cautious when signing your contact. When I signed my contract I was told that the current promotion required an a couple hundred dollars down and that my rate would never go up. Lies, lies, lies. One year it on went up about $4. Every year it increases and now has increased $10 from my original (not going to increase) rate and I've never been notified of the increased and reasons why. I know several others who signed around the same time as me and their rates have never increased. I've contacted the main office who have not been helpful. On a positive note I do like there gyms and they have several wonderful instructors.
The video gamer looking dudes at reception are quite creepy in how they keep staring away... Especially the Tatem fella
It’s ok. They have a decent amount of machines, and the staff are really nice but it is ALWAYS busy…even at obscure hours like midnight. Also it can get quite ‘meathead’ at times. Not their fault but worth mentioning. Also the inside of the lockers need to be cleaned more often. They are pretty gross.
I went to this location this morning because i was headed somewhere nearby. It turns out that my regional pass is not valid at this location. Really? They let me in today but they told me I would either need to upgrade or pay $5 per visit next time. Apparently, it is a "plus" location. What? Really? There's no indication from the outside that it is any different than any of the other locations. You can't tell from Google Maps either. And since when is a London regional pass not a regional pass? And why is this location a "plus"? Sure, it is nice but not a whole lot nicer than other recently renovated locations. Does it offer more than the typical Goodlife? Not really. It has lots of equipment and a good variety but so does Southdale. So why is this one more money? Just because it is Masonville? Is this good old fashioned North London elitism at work? To keep residents from other parts of the city out? Hmm...
nice staff
People are great, facility is great but what prevents this location from being a 5 star ranking for me is the lack of hand sanitation stations upstairs and the fact that they ALWAYS have their music blaring. 90% of gym goers gave their own headphones with music, why does this place think they need to blast D-list songs that I've never heard of all the time. I literally ask them to turn down the volume every day. Every day.
Great staff and amenities
Very popular spot so it can get pretty crowded.
Nice club but training is required and better maintenance of equipmebt
Pushy tactics, unimpressed.
My fiancé and I went here looking into “possibly” getting a membership pending on the facility, pricing and perks as I was a former Goodlife Fitness member from 2014-2016. Back then I paid $16.99 bi-weekly with everything included. Now the pricing has nearly doubled at $34.99 bi-weekly. The representative that we met with, Katie, came across as phoney, unsincere, and extremely pushy, which resulted in us leaving and taking our money to another facility, not being Goodlife Fitness. She was all pleasant up until I told her how displeased I was at paying $69.98 x 2 (my fiance and I) + tax for memberships considering what I used to pay. Its almost a car payment at $157.96 a month for two memberships! We asked for a 3 day pass to think about it and to try out the facility to see if I alone wanted to proceed with a membership as my fiancé wasnt too interested in working out anyway, in which Katie responded “Well that would just be a waste of time if you’re not going to sign up today. But here’s what I’ll do for you, I’ll give you two weeks free if you sign the membership contracts today” and overall really pushing me out of my comfort zone and not accepting no for an answer. The fact is, as a former Goodlife customer I am well aware that there are extremely large early cancellation penalties if you choose to cancel early in the fine print so I was not comfortable making such an impulsive decision right then and there or just signing a contract without testing out the facility. I wanted to try out that facility for the 3 days which is originally why we walked into that gym and at that point we would make a decision. After an hour and a half of bantering back-and-forth we ended up walking out and going to Planet Fitness where we pay $21.99 a month to have unlimited everything, and that’s with two memberships. No contract and no commitment at a 24/7 facility. Goodlife fitness is robbery at its finest and I was disgusted with the way we were treated once we wanted time to think about the membership because I was not comfortable making such an impulsive, costly commitment right then and there. That representative just brushed us off and went “well that’s sucks” and walked away. Clearly she was just in it for the sale and realized that once we wanted to think about it, she no longer cared. I will be phoning head office and filing a formal complaint as this visit was unbelievably disappointing to say the least, and the fact that the representative denied me the three day pass, as advertised online to try out the gym because I wouldn’t sign a contract, is even more unprofessional.
Bad maintenance and disinterested management. All the personal trainers occupy the weights and workout themselves afterwards. Over all it's okay. Nothing great about this location. Only plus is that it's open all the time and if you can avoid the rush hours then it's a decent gym.
Clean facilities, friendly staff and great personal trainers. Shout-out to Christian???? and Sean????
I met with Rob the fitness manager to discuss personal training and it was such a great experience, I didn't feel pressured at all, he was super friendly, and I learned a lot. Now I'm with Brenden for PT and he's great too. Even the person who was getting my membership sorted out was great. Everyone here is so friendly. I only just started but my breathing is so much better already. If you're thinking about going to the gym for the first time, go here. Even better, talk to Rob about personal training. It takes SO MUCH effort out of working out, you just show up and do what they say instead of having to spend days researching online what to do, how to do it, when to do it, and proper technique. And you'll have a schedule to stick to because someone is waiting for you. There's even a small area that's just for people with personal trainers. The change rooms are very clean and aren't really busy. I've only seen a handful of people in there at a time. They have this cool quiet LED relaxation room too.
Stay away from this club. specially if you are a regular gym goer. Expensive for nothing, I recently changed my club from downtown to this location and now cancelling the membership leaving GL after 4 years, because of this club. very rude and pushy staff, I should have read the reviews before switching. Gym is small, very small, not enough equipment. About the management; At the time of switching, I tried to avoid paying higher fees (from 40$ at downtown goodlife, to 56$ in this club) after arguing with they guy at the counter for 30 minutes, I could get the manager, and all he did was trying to upgrade me to ultimate membership for 70$. That's how pushy these people are. all they do is trapping rich ass kids, cause it's a rich neighborhood. I have been into many GL clubs in different cities, GL was a trusted brand for me for a long time, but not after dealing with this club.
Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Clean and organize facility. Lots of good equipment and classes available too!
Goodlife insisted they have a void cheque, regardless that I paid in advance. They debited my bank account anyway and the fight continues to be reimbursed.
I have been a member of the Masonville club in London, ON for a month and a half now and am in love with your classes. They are fantastic workouts that produce results rapidly and are a lot of fun. Your trainers are fantastic! Body Attack classes with Analeyse and Manny are particularly fabulous; those two make classes such a good time!
Not too crowded, friendly staff and members. Lots of equipment and almost always available
Had a great tour, will be back to discuss further. I have Always had good experiences at Goodlife Fitness Centres. Honest people with true healthy knowledge. Wonderful People working out and friendly as well. Could be a few more Public Health Protocols for my liking, but im sure they are working on it. Will be back to discuss, Thank You to the Friendly Staff for helping me :)
The front desk employees are the best! They welcome everyone and are super knowledgeable. I love this gym - beautiful yoga studio - very motivating. the only suggestion I have is there has to be a way to force people to remove their outdoor shoes - people are not paying attention to the giant STOP sign and friendly boot-removal area. Some need a special invitation not to wear soaking wet boots, truding not only into the change rooms but up to the yoga studio and onto the floor. Insane.
Gym is clean and well kept, staff are helpful and friendly
It's just too small for the number of people who go there. It's in a highly populated part of the city yet it's the smallest GoodLife in town. GoodLife claims it is a "platinum" club which will limit members but that's BS because every GoodLife member who had a membership before the "platinum" class existed got grandfathered into these clubs, and anyone willing to pay a little more for their membership can also access these clubs, so they don't limit members at all which means the place gets rammed. As for the complaints about pushy salespeople, I have no clue what you people are talking about. Gyms employ salespeople? I've never talked to one. I went in, filled out the registration paper, told them I only come with workout and use the downtown club for squash, and left. When I go there, I workout and then I leave. Not really sure what everyone else is doing when they go to the gym but forget about talking to staff and get your ass on the equipment.....then leave.
5 stars for Sh’Bam class! I’ve never been to a workout class that’s this fun. It’s a great group of people who regularly attend and Sarah is such an amazing instructor! I genuinely feel sad if I have to miss a class, which is something I never thought I’d feel about a workout. The class flies by and you leave feeling refreshed and happy. I absolutely LOVE Sh’Bam!
I love coming here. All the staff are really nice and it's a good way to get in a workout.
Disgusting staff.. when my friend says he wants a TRIAL, that means he wants a TRIAL. So why do you keep pushing and pushing? This location truly has the worst management I've ever seen.. they will lie to your face in order to make more money. Very very embarrassing for a professional company
Staff aren't trained at dealing with customer complaints, can't get anything done, they don't know how to use med chat services to get in touch with headquarters.
I went with my daughter to make a membership for her and her brother,we met a representative I think his name is Mike( I'm not sure),he gave us a card to fill with our information then he asked who wants a membership, I told him my daughter and my son so he keeps asking my daughter ,IGNORING ME AT ALL,when we got all information ,we need a time to think then we toke appointment to complete the documents after we decide which type of membership we need, I completely forgot the appointment and my daughter told me second day,did you received email from goodlife fitness about our appointment?I said no and I completely forgot He sent the confirmation email to my daughter and called her cell phone IGNORINGME FOR THE SECOND TIME ,REALLY?I'm the one who will pay and sign the papers and you ignore me just because I will not be a member? Not recommended
Lots of machines so I've only ever once had to wait for a cardio machine. Clean change rooms with lots of space.
Busy fitness gym. Freshly painted for a clean look. Dressing rooms are very small often crowded.
I took my friend to try out this location to begin his first ever workout experience with GOODLIFE. I have been working out here for years, satisfied with the equipments and especially it has 24 hour access, so that’s why I took him here for him to give it a try. Okay, walked in and my friend said that he would like to have an opportunity to try out the gym first just for an experience. So then a sales guy let him sit down and then went through all the necessary sales procedures, and my friend didnt know much but he kept trying to express what he really wants(To give it a try and will get a membership afterwards if satisfied). I was standing there for almost 30 mins to wait for him to workout with me for his first time, however, long after, the sales showed him the price list for the memberships. He did mention that he would consider getting one after some actual workout experience with the gym. Yes, not seeing my friend with a confirmative mind, the sales guy said if my friend just wanted to get a 1-day trail, and then led my friend GO OUT of the entrance to wait for him to sign up with the computer. Losing patience, so I was waiting and waiting for almost 50mins or so, and then my friend told me that now he couldn’t go in because the sales guy told him that he would need to PAY $25 Dollars to get in for a try. Excuse me, GOODLIFE in the TV has been advertising for the “3-DAY trial” stuff all the time, and then they said that this trial has to be signed up with some group fitness classes or something i cant remember, in order to grand my friend a three day trail pass. Okay, i have been a member for almost three years, loyal to GOODLIFE and never gone to other gyms, and i have recommended GOODLIFE to so many of my friends, and they got a membership in the end. A week ago, I took another friend to the one by oxford, he wasn’t confident about the gym because he hadn’t ever worked out before. So I took him to try out the “3-Day Pass”, yes no problem and just about 5 mins after he left some info and with no rushing or whatsoever, he got the pass. Guess what, he was satisfied with the gym and service, after the pass expired, and he signed up for a membership immediately. Now, LET’S BE HONEST, what’s the benefit for my friend to just exercise at the gym for 3 days for free? All I saw was the money from the sale’s eyes, just like once seeing a customer who doesnt want to pay upfront (No Commission), then making the customer to leave with some unbelievable excuses lol. Thank god I was calm enough to not ruin other people’s experience. I understand being a sales is about more customers more commissions, but i really do hope that every one could be nice and actually listen to what clients want instead of pushing them. Myself, questionable, probably will go to another location due to this ridiculous experience.
Good location, decent crowd that goes.
First rate staff! Very crowded at times. And if your young, attractive and covered in tattoos, this is the place for you!! (Outside parking lot I believe has never seen a broom).
Great place to workout
I like the running track and squash.
Favorite GoodLife in London. Staff and other members are very friendly.
Goodlife is the best place to exercise, machines are new and well stocked. Joseph Barrett.
Machines are always broken and stay broken for months with maintenance required signs. Even the machines that aren't marked as broken are usually only half functional. Management and employees never go around to check them. They always wait for someone to report a machine as being broken and even then, 75% of the time the machine never gets a sign.
The place is clean, upgraded and honestly has a great environment. The managers don't normally get enough recognition in reviews, however, Will deserves a raise!
very professional staff, helpful and informative.
Recent improvements have been made with new cardio machines and a functional training area. Dustin is an excellent personal trainer and extremely knowledgeable.
I had signed up for a free pass for a few visits. When arranging an appointment to get a tour of the gym, I received 4 phone calls at work to confirm the time as well as some pressuring to change the date. Once I arrived at the gym for my tour, I was left to wait for 15 minutes until someone was free although I was right on time for my booked appointment. Once the representative was free, he gave me a tour of the gym which is clean, medium sized, and average. I inquired about the group classes, which all of the interesting ones were only offered at their downtown location. I have never felt SO pressured to buy something. I understand that they work off commission, but this representative went on for 40 minutes about the different packages and pressuring me into signing up for any sort of membership (specifically their personal training which I expressed I had no interest in). I said that I would like to try out a few classes first to get the feel before making any commitment, and the guy proceeded to usher me towards the door claiming I had no interest in actually getting a membership. I eventually did get an activated pass for 3 free visits, but I have no motivation to use them. After having my wishes ignored, being told I must get a personal trainer to lose weight (which I wasn't even there for), and being tossed aside once I convinced him I am not signing up for the most expensive package, I hate to see how far they will go when I attend classes.
Good gym
Great staff..friendly and polite. Lots of machines but is smaller than most gyms. Mix of young and middle to older gym-goers.
Amazing gym - far better than the avg good life location...
Very new facility. I worked with a personal trainer there (Mike) for a while when I first joined and he was excellent. Highly recommended.
Not the biggest gym though
Mandy was extremely friendly and helpful with explaining all my concerns to me and Patrick as well! The customer service at this specific location is amazing especially compared to previous locations I've inquired at about my concerns
Nice
They actually sent someone up to me during a set of incline bench to tell me that I’m being too loud and swearing to much. Calm down there Planet Fitness. 5/11 meme. At least the front desk staff were chill. They enjoyed my preworkout burger meme.
Lovely staff very clean facility lots of equipment to use as well
Very clean and lots of different entertainment. Always a pleasure to come here when I'm in town, staff is amazing.
Got a 14 day trial for $14. I have been getting calls from them EVERYDAY. Ben is the pushiest human being I have ever met, after I didn't answer his call (I was in class), he came to my house and tried to get my roommates to sign up. That's a major line crossed, piss off.
Great gym, small but clean and well maintained
Clean, friendly staff. Not usually too busy, depending on when you go. Smaller than it looks.
If you are going to capitalize you should separate the words.
Can be busy at times but lots of variety in equipment. Open 24 hours so there's always a low, non-busy time. The classes are a lot of fun and are free to attend with a membership. There's also towel service at this location. The shower facilities are also amazing. Lots of warm water and they provide body wash / hair wash. One of the better locations I've worked out at.
1) Audio jacks on most treadmills are broken despite several reports to administration. = lack of tv while workouts 2) I have been owed a refund for an incorrect charge in October (It's now Feb) 3) Lack of concern for customers- I've personally followed up with the manager but remain without the $ despite many promises. The initial refund request was misfiled by a staff member, then the manager (Will) promised to file it and call me the same day in Dec, but was too busy pumping iron (he didn't file the request). I'm now on the third try and he (again) failed to call or confirm via my follow up email that he's done it, despite apologies. Clearly your emotional health is of low concern with these guys.
Everything you need in a gym.
Actually, I've never been to this place, but by the sound of the reviews, I should probably stay away from this place! Sounds horrible!! I looked through the reviews for a pretty long time (35 min.) and I noticed that the later reviews were a little better than the newer ones. Meaning that the place, instead of getting better, has gotten worse over time. People either HATE it (1 star), or they love it to bits. Ssssoooo.... maybe the gym's bias?
This gym is excellent. The staff is excellent and their equipment is always clean, modern, and well-kept. I keep going back for the friendly faces and great atmosphere. The General Manager has done a great job and he shows he cares deeply about the facility. I highly recommend this location and working with this staff.
Not sure what the negative feedback is all about. This location is excellent in my opinion. Staff always take the time to make me feel special. Equipment is up to date and well maintained, the other clients who come fit the culture, great atmosphere in general. 5 ????
Great place to exercise
Management is great - staff is welcoming and motivating!
Best place to be in, but I prefer if they do some discount on the subscription fees.
After having worked out at a number of Good life locations, I have to say this particular one has the dirtiest sauna that I've yet seen (brown stains everywhere on sauna benches), fairly clean gym floor though there seems to be a shortage of paper towels, and every other Cybex cardio machine broken/malfunctioning. For a "Platinum Club" this is embarrassing. Please take a lesson from the Liberty Village GoodLife in Toronto as to how to properly clean your saunas--they are cleaned every night and spotless!! Yours has not been cleaned in months. Their change rooms & gym are also in better condition though they are an equally busy 24hr club. Seriously, please do something about your filthy women's sauna.
You allow way too many people into the gym at any one time for the amount of space you have. Also, 70% of the entire upstairs is taken up by the dance studio. Reduce that space by 50%, add in more racks and benches and you will become a 4 star gym.
Extremely pushy, annoying and time wasting sales tactics. I called to ask a simple question, how much is a monthly membership...instead of of answering the question the rep went right into overly energetic sales mode. He was asking me a bunch of questions, and trying to get me to come in for an open house/demo. I tried to wind it down, saying I'm pretty busy and just looking for a place with a steam room/sauna, if you have one I'll get a membership. He continued with the persistent sales pitch, I even said at one point that if you get commission for signing up people I'll give them your name, I just want a place with a wet sauna. Turns out they don't have a wet sauna and he tried selling me on the dry sauna which I said I wasn't a fan of and was specifically looking for wet. I said thanks I'll try other places, and he still kept it up, saying wet sauna's aren't good because germs can spread easier or something along those lines. Funny thing is, I still don't know what a membership costs. I'm sure he was just doing his job, but come on, learn to drop the sales pitch sometimes. I've heard lots of bad things about pushy sales tactics at Good Life, and looks it's the case. I'll be avoiding all Good Life gyms, lots of good gyms in the city that don't use pushy (and unnecessary) sales tactics.
This is a good gym when I was here 1.5 years ago. Have not been back since covid started.
Great location with friendly staff. Lots of free weight and classes. Open 24/7 and they have great massage chairs available. Does not have swimming pool.
Great environment for all your fitness needs
Great gym. And Masha is a super dedicated trainer.
Great place to work out. Always enough room to do anything and not wait for machines.
Nice place to get liquored as you workout.
I been. this clubs over 30 years great please to be good stuff Clean please
Great facilities
very active place
Alot of hot girls go here but the dumbell area is always full.
this is the last place i wanna go !!!! horrible !!! i usually go to uwo or ymca gym, but this location is closer and i found there was some 3 days free trial so i decided to give it a shot turns out that the free trial is just a lie, once i walked into the gym, the sales person never stop talking and selling their membership, he insist i have to pay money first to use their equipment. when i decide to leave without taking any exercise, he stopped me and kept telling me about how good they are over and over again, harassed me to give him my bank info no matter how i kept telling him i would not buy anything today he act like he didn't understand human's language, it took me over an hour to escape from this god damn place
Great club! Free members WiFi will make it 5 stars.
After awhie of attending this club I can tell you that the equipment they use here is next level and havent seen anything like it in anyother gym in London. The Staff are very friendly and welcoming and so are the other members that use this gym. The only bad thing about this gym is that equipment is often misplaced and unorganized and I frequently have to adjust my workout because I cant find the equipment. You usually have a fair amount of people working behind front desk and there have been many times where I have seen them being unproductive so maybe they should prioritize a little better. Other than that this place is great overall and if you use your membership to its full potential than in my opinion it is worth the monthly payments.
Best Good Life in town.
Great! Workout place
Regular employees are fine. management is not, they are not serious nor professional and they mistreat their own employees AND stop trying to force my friends to buy a membership!! They just wanted the trial. In addition to the cars that get broken into all the time and there is absolutely no security camera towards the cars.
I was expecting a high-pressure sales pitch, but Derek was respectful of my time and listened patiently as I outlined my health concerns. Together, we evaluated what I could be/should be doing and came up with how and when I could realistically meet those goals. The Masonville club is well-maintained and the staff is approachable - no matter how ridiculous I think my question is, they supply me with an answer without any intimidation. Highly recommend for those just starting their fitness journey. Tell Derek I say hi. :-)
If you ever think that someone can be soo overly annoying trying to upsell you something it would be Derek working at this location. Cant judge other staff since I didn't deal with all of them. Got the 14 days pass and child care for two weeks and made it clear that I'm in the city for only two weeks. Tried to make me buy a membership at goodlife fitness in saskatoon and I explained that I'm not interested because it's far and that's why I chose a different gym. He still insisted that I should buy one and wait because they might open more locations and might be close to where i live. was pressured into giving my banking information and was told that they won't take any money out before the 17th of June if I decide to continue with it. Got the worst attitude once I refused personal training to a point where I almost got kicked out of the club. And to top it off I got money taken out of my account on the 15th of June for child care! You would think you walk in to the gym to find someone trying to help get healthy and fit but all you would find at this location sales people trying to make commission.
Friendly staff and clean gym. Never that busy
This facility it's self is clean, machines look well kept, staff was mostly friendly. I like how it's not a large gym. However, the thing I don't like is snarky comments from your sales rep, Derek. Upon having an appointment with him, he did a very good job of showing me around, however his attitude changed once it came time to sign up. He made me feel pressured and uncomfortable. He made sure to get the last laugh though by saying "well I can see it's not you who makes the descions". My suggestion would be to teach Derek how to take someone saying "I want to talk to my girlfriend" without bullying them into a contract. I was going to sign up, because I was excited to tell my girlfriend about how the incredible offer they have for the 40th anniversary. However he made a bad taste in my mouth and I will be joining a different gym. Facility: 4/5 Staff: 2/5
People here is rude as incompetent. I booked for a 3 days trial, but they restrict to few hours a day to try it. The person who attended me was too aggressive, more than I ever expected in Canada. Gym is small and trainers are not properly prepared. I would never recommend even to my worst enemy
Clean and not too busy. Friendly and welcoming staff.
Derek is a horrible sales person in this gym. He thinks himself smarter than his client. I would say a bad place because of the sales people.
Would absolutely recommend this gym. I've been to few ones in and out of province,by far the most comfortable one is GoodLife masonville. Staff is absolutely friendly. Well managed, clean, not too crowded. Machines are well maintained. The gym overall has a pretty good vibe and I love the events they have all year around.
Clean..lots of cardio anxious weight equipment
Amazing gym
This location has no bathroom upstairs. No pool, no running track. At peak teams there is not enough parking. Bathrooms and change rooms are often dirty. A lot of the lockers were broken or damaged. Equipment takes months to repair. Everyone you talk to pays a different rate. This location is considered a premium location, but there is nothing premium about it.
Pandemic plans in place and working perfectly. I feel very safe attending this facility and appreciate being able to resume my fitness routine with safety and confidence
Never too busy. Lots of equipment and space.
A big and clean gym with a great assortment of machines and equipment. The staff are always welcoming and accommodating. Personal trainers are well experienced and always looking out for you. The first floor has mainly cardio machines, while the second floor has all the strength training equipment.
Darrick? Derek? One of the personal trainers i believe. Hes so pushy to sell personal training. I know what I want and I know what I do. I have trained for more than 10 years. And he calls again and again. I understand that you have to sell for you to make money but you should stop selling when a person says no thanks. The most irritating thing is he hangs up on me at the end whenever he calls lol. I dont want to ever hear back from that kind of person.
I went to this location because it was close to my home, and because GoodLife advertises their 3-day trial all over the internet and I figured it would be good to try. I'd just moved here from out of town and I was keen to get into a new gym. Half an hour after an exhausting conversation with Derek about all of the gym features and programs, I was told that no, my free trial wouldn't be honoured, and that if I wanted to work out that day I'd have to sign up for a year. I understand that a free trial will include a sales pitch, but to offer the trial then yank it away felt like deceptive marketing to me. I was assured that there was a one week trial period during which I could cancel my membership, so I paid up and worked out anyway. And, to be honest, it was a disappointing experience. The equipment in the best condition was reserved for private lessons, the cardio equipment was old and low-tech, and the resistance equipment was eclectic but limited. The best feature of the gym was the change room, to be honest. I tried out a competitor gym the next day, liked it far better, and cancelled my membership at GoodLife Fitness. The following day, Derek called back, harrassed me about cancelling my membership, and ultimately hung up on me. I cannot in good conscience recommend this GoodLife Fitness location to anyone.
Horrible customer service from its personal trainer's department. When problem occurs, they said they will call me multiple times but they never did. In fact I called them myself at least 3 times and they replied the person who is in charge will call me back shortly but they never called back. Finally, I went to them twice to solve the problem but it is just disgusting seems like they don't care.
Pushy, Aggressive, Harassing. I went in to try a 3-day trial to see if I would enjoy going to this gym. Right off the bat I told them that I only had an hour to spend there and had to leave at 5:30pm, and I wanted to get a workout in. I was told that my appointment with Derek would only take 10 minutes. It took an hour for me to escape, and Derek is the pushiest, most aggressive mf I have ever met. I understand that sales is important to them, but I was feeling borderline harassed. First, he pointed out every single part of my posture that wasn't absolutely perfect and started telling me about how that was going to ruin my body and how I needed to get a personal trainer there with them to fix all my problems (later found out it costs $200+). When I told him I wasn't interested, he started telling me about a body test that they do "where we use an iPad so you can compare what you're doing vs what you should be doing". Fine, sounds cool, but not today because I only have an hour here today. He kept asking me what kinds of food I ate, when I ate, how many meals per day I ate, which kind of pissed me off considering I told him I was short on time. He sat me down in front of their computer and told me to log in to my banking institution. When I told him I wasn't able to do so, and was not interested in purchasing a membership when I hadn't even had a chance to use the facility, he told me to give them my banking info via phone banking. Couldn't do that either, so he brought me to the front desk where he called TD and tried to get me to talk to them on the phone so I could get my banking info. Repeatedly told him that I was not comfortable purchasing a membership when I hadn't had a chance to even use the gym, and that I was just interested in getting a pass to be able to re-enter the gym later as per my trial. He ignored me, and wanted me to sign a document THAT HE DID NOT SHOW ME. Did not offer to show it to me once, did not offer to print it off for me, gave me a vague answer about how I was signing that I was a member when I asked what it was that I was signing. I kept telling him that I did not want to commit or give them money for using the gym when I hadn't even had a chance to try the gym (I told him this more than 7 or 8 times) and that I wasn't sure I wanted to go here as I hadn't worked out there yet. At this point 45 minutes had passed and I had no more time to work out, so I just asked if I could get a pass to re-enter the gym later. He said that that would be linked with my membership card when I came back to give him my banking info. I kept asking how he could do that when I wanted the trial to determine whether or not I even wanted a membership, and he kept saying not to worry, everything would be streamlined and they would all be on one card. Took me 15 minutes to get him to just give me a trial pass. He told me that there weren't any at the front desk, and that I could just get one after my workout ("Go workout and think about it, and then we can finish getting you your membership!"), even though he knew I had no time left. Then he told me that there were some passes in his office, but "I know you have to go so you can grab one the next time you come in!" I DESPERATELY did not want to have to go through this horrific process again so I told him that I would wait for him to get the pass. His attitude immediately changed, he stopped smiling and just glowered at me for the rest of the time I was there as soon as he knew that I wasn't going to be giving him my direct withdrawal information. The free trial pass is supposed to be 3 free visits within 7 days, and he only gave me access for 3 calendar days, I assume because he was pissed that I didn't lock myself into a membership. Also be warned that there is a $99 cancellation fee that I wasn't told about until I asked. I assume that was written in the membership contract that he didn't let me read.
Organized and clean; hours are great of course. Issues with squat racks. All squat racks are usually taken even outside of peak hours. Massive personal training-only area that always has multiple unused squat racks. Frustrating. If you lift heavy lift elsewhere.
They’re currently updating the look of the gym (new paint, signage, etc). Smaller locker rooms but I’ve never had a problem finding space. It also all depends on when you go. Yes, around 5pm is a busy time for the gym, but a bit before and a little after it is nearly empty. Has all the machines you could want, staff are friendly and the gym always feels clean.
Awesome work out
This is an unsafe location. BE CAREFUL Our car was broken into causing $5000 in damage and loss of items. The club manager refused to acknowledge the break in and refused to view the security footage. This break in was at 6 pm in the middle of the front lot. Two other cars were broken into on the same day. Windows were smashed at 3 locations in the parking lot. We stayed as members, but should not have... 1) Staff continually called our 15 yr old trying to get him to sign up for a trainer - new law has since been enacted to stop these sharks 2) Continued to charge us for two months after contract was cancelled - TD issued us a refund and stopped payment. 3) Equipment and audio are constantly broken and dirty. I wish I had just bought a treadmill.
Second Review in 2018: Signed up around Xmas 2018... Been going there every day in spurts of usually 30 min several times a day. All good. Upset though that 24/7 gym was closed on new years Eve night... But probably shouldn't be that surprised. Would recommend that they give new members a quick tour of facility and show how machines can be operated. Disappointed that none of the gyms in London seem to have the hydromassage, was a big selling point for me. Inital review in 2017: Signed up for the gym. Cancelled within a couple of days when I figured out that the price they gave me (32$) was bi weekly not monthly, even though at time of sign up I told the guy I will pay the first month and was only charged 32$. Not much available at the gym. No swimming pool. Ample parking space
Emily has been my personal trainer for 2 weeks only before the lockdown started. She is extremely helpful, motivating and even now during the lockdown she makes sure I get my workouts done at home and motivates me. She is the best!
Kept quiet clean.
Best gym in London, my go to location. I frequently visit this spot in the morning. After doing a tour of nearly every gym in London, I am happy that this one is closest to me.
Great place
I went in looking to get a membership and asked for a trial. I was hammered by Derek for over and hour and in the end I didn't even get the trial. I previously had a good life membership for almost 9 years and recently cancelled since it was a one club membership. I was looking to get a new one but I wanted to try the club before signing on. I repeatedly asked him to show me prices for memberships and he would not do it. He showed it at the very end then walked away angry when I said I was not interested in signing a contract to get a free trial. Please don't go here if you want to sign up.
The gym itself looks great, my all experience was ruined I was coming for my 3 days pass to try out the gym and honestly I really wanted to sing up, and I met Derek that pushed me to get a membership after I told him so many times let me first see how it's like and ill sing up by myself! Apparently he sing me to a membership without me knowing!! Now somehow I owe them money and I was there only one time for a three days pass! I read the reviews and I see I'm not the only one, that guy just rewind you a coustomer.
All u need. Cleanliness could be improved
The location is convenient, and the facility is well staffed and maintained. Unfortunately if you simply want to come in and try out the gym with the free 3 day trial, you are forced to be seated and go through a 45min sales pitch. It took multiple times of explaining that I wasn’t interested in personal training or their body assessment before they let it go. I was unable to even receive a straight up answer about how much a monthly membership would cost, without being bombarded about how the more expensive package is the better deal. It’s too bad because the staff mean well, but are way too pushy. I think they don’t understand that people DO just want a gym to workout in, and don’t need all the extra bells and whistles.
Gym is well maintained, however many TV's are broken on cardio machines and parking lot is so small.
Beware,do your homework, extremely pushy regarding membership, just be careful, felt like they just stoled my wallet! Good luck
never fail to disappoint, after an apology IN WRITING for charging me for two months after a valid cancellation...I get a COLLECTION LETTER in the mail. UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Been going for a few years and all the staff are all really nice and the machines are always working ( the repairs are quick too even if they break). The staff also make sure to keep the place clean to comply with Covid guidelines. Favourite gym!
The Masonville Goodlife is a frustrating and disappointing experience The numerous “Maintenance Required” signs only indicates about half of the machines that require repair. Two weeks ago I took a moment to show the manager 6 machines that needed maintenance. He asked for two weeks to get work done. Tonight the gym is in the worst condition I have seen it 4 years. Very frustrated.
Avoid personal training packages at all costs, Its a good club if you are not planing to deal with the personal training staff i mean its clean , good equipment selection but once you deal with the personal training staff the experience goes down a lot, i asked for a trainer who stays late, they assigned me one of the trainers saying that he stays late, first time i saw him after 9 which was ok for me the second session he said that he cant do later than 8 which was tigh for me i went there 10 min. Late we did the session btw the starter package is a ripoff they just show you how to use the machines unless you have never been in a gym before dont buy any starter package or any PT anyways he showed some stupid stuff that i already know and then started Bullshiting me trying to convince me to buy an $8000 package and guess what you are paying for the bullshiting time which was a part of the hour i have already paid for, anyways total training time was 20 min. I didnt cancel cause i thought maybe he will do something different next time so the third session he kept on showing me how machines work dohhh and here i decided to cancel ... they said it should be within a week or 2 dont remember then i called goodlife customer experience they said you can sell it on kijiji or something, i put an advertisment for the remaining 4 sessions and someone emailed me that she is interested... long story short when i called the corporate office office to transferre the sessions they said you cant transfere them cause they have expired and they wont get the idea of why am cancling cause the trainer claimed to stay late in the begining then he started leaving earlier session after session.... its a good club if you just go there do your thing and leave.
One start so it will get noticed. This gym has made some improvements for making recycle bins available upstairs and in the change rooms. You can see that members use the recycle bins and make a concerted effort to separate e.g. plastics from garbage. This is all very clearly a sad facade when it comes to actual disposal. The biggest BS is that the old man cleaning guy dumps the recyclables into the garbage bins (in the Men’s change room - witnessed today). Why is he doing that? There is no excuse. It is pathetic, lazy behaviour. I suggest GoodLife get its lazy, complicit act together and replace the cleaning agency with competent people who give a sh#t. FYI this same BS also happens at Sherwood. Comment by management please.
Great facility, newer building
Great place to work out If your one who has nothing good to say , than leave you smart phones at home, as you hog the equipment pretending you know what your doing and shut the f????????k up!!
Love the Body Pump 6 am class! Best instructor !
Old equipment, poor layout and crammed space. But at least it's ventilated.
Very supportive, non-judgemental of all ages & fitness levels. I was not in great shape when I joined 3 1/2 yrs ago; have lost 26 lbs; managers & trainers have given me advice & critiqued my form so I get the maximum out of my workouts. Manager Will always updating machines & cares about his clients; clean & safe; best gym in city.
My favourite Goodlife location. Can get a little crowded at popular times. Wish they had more locations like this ine.
You give a bad review because of google maps or you cant get in???? This is a great gym!!! Great classes, clean, great equiptment. Amazing helpful staff. I have been to many gyms and i love it here.
Very good service. My husband and I went to the Masonville location and found the facility very clean. One of the employees, Will, was very friendly and took the time to talk with us about our options and gave us great advice.
