Training under one of the highest ranked Black Belts in all of North America is already amazing but, having Professor Marcus Soares teach many of the classes himself vs another Professor leads to incredible results. He is very methodical, patient and demonstrative. He asks for students input and watches carefully to ensure you're using the techniques properly. I would HIGHLY recommend that if you're in the greater Vancouver area, you should be training at one of the 4 academies!!!

We started him in this class so he could have fun and burn off some of his non stop energy, and not only is he loving the workout but he's learning about teamwork and getting some serious self-defense lessons. I really enjoy coming here to train Bjj the instruction from Marcus is extremely detailed. The location has a range of belts to train with no pressure kind of group of training partners. Like anything in life your get what you put into it Bjj takes time to learn and get good at one thing I am sure of this is the best place to learn!

Amazing gym. Marcus has a wealth of knowledge, and his upper belt students are extremely talented and knowledge as well. BJJ is a complex and time consuming art and can be a little intimidating at first glance, but give it some time and you will suprise yourself at how much you can learn. Great gym for us bigger guys as well has many higher weight class students.

Master Marcus Soares' style is your classic anything old school; pure substance with no filler. His welcoming smile and atmosphere will get you in the door, and the slow results will keep you coming back. In the year that I've trained under Marcus, I've gotten in better shape, made new friends, learned a new art from a literal encyclopedia of information, and gained a mentor as well. The level of support and knowledge from his senior belts is of a higher class, always willing to help and kick your butt. Lastly, the most important thing that I personally enjoy about his gym is that you don't get promotions unless you've earned and deserved it; which leaves you with a deeper sense of accomplishment.
