The gym itself is fine, it's a place to workout that is decently clean and the floor is well organized. However the number of issues I have had with the front desk and Head Office is constant and frustrating. I have had my paperwork lost twice that I can recall, I have had my payments/transactions lost multiple times, I have paid for another members monthly fees - the wrong client was pulled up when I was paying and was only caught because I had kept my receipt and I noticed after 2 weeks of going back and forth with Head Office that it was not my name at the top, I have had my phone calls not be returned, and I have been bombarded with calls and emails from SN regarding "overdue invoices" because of their lack of organization. While I love that the women's only area is elevated away from the rest of the gym I am really at my wits end because every other month there seems to be an issue I have to deal with.

Great Facility! I'm really excited for the high intensity group fitness classes to come back (YAY ZUMBA!!) and also the new small group PT classes. It used to be called GT12, now it's called the WORX. I'm so pumped!
I have enjoyed the groups fitness classes very much. The instructors are well informed and professional. My personal trainer, Frank is amazing. He pushes me, but also realizes when my body just can't do anymore.
The company sold me a membership 23 hours before they decided to close the gym. ( They promised that they would not be closed!) After some months closed, the company declared bankruptcy and was acquired by FitnessWorld. The strange part of this process was that the new company kept the former CEO, but they did not honor their contacts, and worse, the new entity charged me again this week! I went to the club in Nanaimo to understand what was going on and spoke with the General Manager, who was very polite and calm. However, he did not want to help, and he was crystal clear in that part. Although he had the power to empathize with my complaints and refund my money or the period that I had paid, he said he "prefers not to do so, and stick with the policy of not refunding any customer." Therefore, be advised that if you buy a membership with this company, you might end up like me - paying and not being able to use it! We are voicelessly dealing with a company that uses its power position to take advantage of and to bullying its customers.
Best gym in Nanaimo! So many features you can't find anywhere else. Hands down the fitness facility to join in the area. Angel and Shandra are a couple of the top PT's for this location and make your workout enjoyable. I highly recommend checking it out and expanding your knowledge being at the gym with the PT's.
I have been a member of this gym since 2001. This is an excellent facility that has quality equipment, most of which has been updated. This facility has many services including personal training, various specialized classes, a child care facility, & a female only workout area. There is also a shake bar where you can purchase meals or various workout drinks, On the down side this facility is what I would consider small and going at peak hours makes the experience less pleasant. Parking is also an issue since the gym is at or near capacity most times. However in fairness there always seems to be enough overflow parking so you are not left without a place to park your vehicle. As for membership pricing, I can't really speak to that since my membership is locked in at a grandfathered rate. I do believe though that the new rates are not really competitive with Club 16 or Anytime Fitness. On the flip side though this chain has many more locations then it's competitors so it could be a better option for those who don't always train at one location.
Very nice gym, love the hydro massage for relaxing and great cardio selection. Women only area is a great feature. Emma at the front desk was super helpful and kind. So happy I joined!

I havent been to the gym for about 5 years and finally decided to join this past weekend . I chose Fitness World Lougheed mall location as it is very close to my home and the join fee and monthly rate is very reasonable. Zoe the young woman who was working the day i joined explained everything to me about the facility and took the time even though she was busy training a new staff to make sure she answered all my questions and was more friendly and professional then I could have expected. There is plenty of cardio equiptment and machines and free weights for everyone . The bathrooms are very clean with several showers and changerooms . They have free Wifi and plenty of televisons .The hydromasage chairs are worth the extra few dollars a mnth included in your membership . I was super happy to be there working out and feeling good again ! Thanks again Zoe for a great experience you made it so easy :)
Have asked to cancel my membership due to COVID and not being the company I initially send up with. I have sent numerous e-mails (nobody replys), I have talked with the staff at Fitness world and they just tell me to send another e-mail. I continue to be charged with no way of stopping it. Also, they have been charging my visa which seems like every other day. Upwards of $80 in the last moth alone.
When I asked why they keep charging me even after my request not to renew my annual contract, the girl at lougheed location accused me "rude" for raising voice, while her voice was higher than mine. I signed 12 month contract, and got robbed extra month and been accused "rude" by a rude employee.
Was visiting in the area and needed a gym to go to. Fitness world definitely surprised me! The staff was super supportive, especially Harsh Thind! He saw me deadlifting and walked over to help me on form. Then stuck around to give me some pro tips! Result? I pulled 10 pounds more, than I thought I could! I recommend giving this gym a shot! It is awesome!
It's a good gym, very spacious and the classroom is great to utilize a skipping rope in.

Great staff, very welcoming environment. However, there are not enough squat racks. Not a good place for anyone who is focused on the three major compound lifts.
. I am shocked and disappointed with fitness World. I have been a member of fitness World since 2011. In April 2020, I heard that Fitness World had gone bankrupt , so I was really surprised that at the end of September I had a withdrawal from the Fitness World on my Visa account. Initially I was really happy because I’ve been in a serious accident I was finally able to think about going back to the gym to continue my two-year rehabilitation.Then I saw a second withdrawl and then a third withdrawl for a total over $150. I have not had any advance notice from Fitness World to say that they had started up again What makes matters worse is when you look online and see what the total amount for a monthly rate is it’s only $19.99 however they were charging me $51 a month. I am disgusted with the way this company has dealt with long term members. When I went to a Fitness World to inquire about what was happening a very young employee at the desk was there to address my concerns. I asked her if I could have a reimbursement for the fees taken from my account and she said” no that wasn’t possible that I would’ve had to have canceled my membership in August” although I have not received any notice that fitness world has been bought by another company or was back in business. I cancelled my membership but in order to do that I had to sign a document that said they could withdraw more money for the next 30 days.I also told her I had emailed the company and asked, if they would respond to my emails. She said no they wouldn’t. As far as I understand it these business practices are illegal and I am shocked that Fitness World has been allowed to do this. If Fitness World had treated me fairly, notified me that the company was back in business, change my fees to reflect the current fees, I would’ve been more than happy to stay a member and continue to pay my monthly fees. However because of the way they have treated me I will never have anything to do with this company again and I will tell everyone not sign up with this company.
Great gym . But the kind staff is what makes it better . Great assorted classes and programs for all ages at every level . Daycare available & free WiFi .

I had a bad experience today with a lady in the front desk. I asked her help to sign up for a class and she rolled her eyes at me. She told me I could do it through the app and I told her the app wasn't working... I even show her my phone. She clearly didn't want to listen to me. I could see she was annoyed by me. I thought people in the front desk were there to help customers. So disappointed do better fitness world
I’m sitting here at 7:27am on a Sunday morning waiting for a staff member to open the doors for a 7:00am open time, been sitting waiting 30 mins now and no one has shown up yet as if the hours of operation aren’t bad enough....my pre workout has kicked in while I’m sitting here. I drive a distance to come here and have to work today so I’m thoroughly unimpressed this morning and will be cancelling my membership today.
Great place for a workout with many cardio machines, locker facilities & good quality equipments. Sonia Lagare is my personal trainer and I appreciate her knowledge in fitness which enabled me improve and enjoy my workouts. Thanks Sonia & Fitness World for tailoring my workouts and keeping me Fit!!
Was looking to join a new gym so decided to check this place out. One of the girls there walked me through the place....she was really nice and answered all my questions. They even offer person training! Looking forward to starting my workouts here

I got charged $95 dollars in total after my cancellation..... Idk why I have to pay maintenance fees and also they took over 10 days to proceed cancellation. Dont sign a contract with them because they have so many crazy hidden fees in the contract unless you read the whole pages and understood everything.
This Fitness World has the most amazing staff and environment ever! Great Place to go if you are new to going to the gym and or a gym rat! i would highly reccomend!

I have been going to this location for close to a year now, it was not an issue in the winter, but once summer came with high temperatures they unfortunately kept the air conditioning off, we have recorded temperatures in the 30s at this location which is really messed up when you are training, we have complained a bunch of times but nothing has been done
Record them when they tell you the price and review the paperwork with a lawyer before signing so they don't charge you the monthly rate weekly. Shamefully taking advantage and misleading customers, then ignoring the issue hoping it will go away. Horrible management.
The final chain gym to close down for the pandemic. They say they’re “cleaning every hour”. No they aren’t, because my workouts are usually 2.5 hours long and I literally witness maybe 1 cleaning, sometimes none in that time. It’s also been dirty with the same stains and marks from the day before. You need to stop being irresponsible, this is unfair to your members and staff. Close down for the pandemic.

The manager Nicole, and her staff made me feel right at home transitioning into a new location and I genuinely enjoy going to the gym for my sessions now! Thank you!!!
Fitness World has very good equipment that is new and has nice features. The gym has good setup and variety of machines. Personal trainers are professionals that have good understanding of various workouts and are good at helping meet my needs.
I started coming to this gym about 6 months ago and I absolutely love it. It's got all the equipment you could need and more. I started personal training with Tony recently. His knowledge and commitment to the client is unlike anything I've seen from any of my previous trainers. I would highly recommend this gym, and even more so recommend training with Tony!
I am a new member and although I found a teeny bit of pressure to sign up and get personal training package, I think this gym is great and happy I did . The front staff are friendly, the gym is clean with good equipment , there are alot of classes plus a TRX area. Yoga as well though it is not in a quiet separate room so it's noisey. The reviews about the trainers are simply not true. I did not sign up for any PT but I have still gotten really great help from them and they are all awesome and friendly. Personal favorites are Mike , John and Olivia. Super nice and very knowledgeable and very caring . They really want to help not just get your business. They work on commission so you can't blame them for trying to get business ! There is always someone unhappy about something. I wouldn't listen to bad reviews. Just go get a week pass and try it.
While having a busy work schedule, I needed a trainer with set schedules and stats to help me get back into a healthy shape. I was assigned to a trainer, I started on a schedule, saw progress and all the sudden, I showed up to the on the second appointment of my second package and was told that he had been let go. They were unable to hire a single trainer to replace him for close to two months. Im unable get my money back even though I hired a trainer for a specific period or even transfer the sessions to someone else as I will no longer be close to fitness world after my move. It would be fair to assume that most people have access to the internet and can receive top online training sessions for free in most cases. However, some of us pay top dollar for a PT fjust because ofthe reliability and the reinforcement to get our selves back to gym and into a healthier lifestyle. When I brought these issues up with the GM, to try to get a refund or at-least transfer my sessions to someone else, I was told that "you didn't sign up with an individual and agreed to a terms with a company". After respectfully asking for telephone number of a the head office; I was told that; "we unfortunately don't give numbers away". However, they were kind enough to provide me with an email address for general inquires. I'm not too concerned about the money at this point, I just hope this helps someone whose putting in the effort and is looking into getting a reliable personal trainer at this gym.
My gym for many years. The leadership and trainers create a terrific enviroment for improved health and fitness. We are not all body builders and the gym has regular people from all walks of life. I love it!

After not working out in the gym for a year due to covid, I was looking for a personal trainer to get back on track with my fitness goals. I wanted to gain back confidence in knowing the correct form and learn new workouts that focus on specific parts of my body. I found Chelsey Hupe! Who was super helpful, kind and respectful. Aside from what I wanted to learn, she taught me new ways to build my core strength and other stretching techniques. I had a great time learning from her! She kept me motivated every session! Highly recommend her for any fitness goals you want to achieve, from losing weight to building strength. She also recommends great apps to keep track of your health goals!
Excellent range of equipment. However, they are starting to slide on cleanliness.

I like the openness of this gym. The variety of classes is, for the most part, sufficient. I am a long time member but still bitter about the way I was signed up at the Kingsway location, which is the reason for the 3 star review. When I first signed up, I arrived 15 minutes before a scheduled class, thinking I could just sign up for a 7 day free trial, and take a class to see what it was like. I guess I should have known that they would want to pressure me into and membership immediately, claiming they would waive my $150 signing fee if I signed up now, but if I decided to sign up later they would make me pay this fee. I didn't like this ultimatum, so I spent over an hour confirming all of the fees, etc. At the end as my pen was hovering over the signature line, they suddenly asked me to confirm that I have been informed about a random annual $50 "club enhancement fee", which was definitely not discussed with me (after all, we had just spent at least an hour discussing fees) until that very moment. I did point out that no one had discussed this with me, and it went back and forth for a few moments with me saying, "No you didn't," and them saying, "Yes I did." I think I was just mentally exhausted at that point, so I still signed up. I would never recommend SN Clubs to anyone, though, because I think the devious tactics they use to strong arm potential clients are wrong.
This place is horrible in terms of scamming you with contracts. They charged my card before I even agreed to anything and before I signed anything. They did not tell me how to cancel or provide a copy of my contract, and then when I asked to cancel they told me it was too late, I'd missed the window. I had to go to get a doctors note and fight with head office for weeks until I was allowed a PARTIAL refund, despite having called numerous times to ask to speak to someone to cancel. The person from head office accused me of lying and actually yelled at me on the phone at one point. That person was always conveniently 'busy'. Horrific. Cancelled my membership and will NEVER go back.

Used to be a good gym. Now it seems that their sole focus is on draining money from patrons. Not sure what for or where that money is going towards. The bathrooms have been busted for well over six months. No hot water in the main sink and hardly ever replace towels. I've been going to this gym for 13 years and I still pay 30 bucks a month. Ya, no thanks, I'll be taking my business elsewhere.
Joel is a great trainer and I have learned so much from him! I want to keep him till I reach my goal and into the future! He's smart, he knows exactly what people want and need and can help anyone no matter level of fitness they are at!

Average gym with room for improvement I travel a lot and have an opportunity to see what other facilities are like and it was an eye opener. Parking is a challenge but it’s all supply and demand, peak times are an issue but overall it’s ok. One reco would be to have staff parking so that the valuable spots are not occupied all day. Equipment; recent upgrades are keeping pace and I like the fact they keep changing. Staff; mainly friendly and caring but they need to lead by example... replacing weights to their homes, organizing the area that they are at, not all standing at the booth, ect Care; this place needs to be more attentive. I have seen one staff member walk around the gym and pick up weights, bands ect and place them back. I repeat only one member. After visiting other gyms I realized this should be the norm not an exception. If the staff take of the place the members will follow. At the same time they can be building relations and selling more. Win win 101 Sometimes we need to take ourselves out to so see what good looks like and better understand where we stand. SNFW LGY does something’s really well, however still afraid to improve. Hoping that feedback drives improvement and growth.

So sad to say Good bye. 20 years when we become members rates and services were much better. Rates went up. Originally you start with higher rates and after loyal membership should get discounts. I know personally some people that pay only $99.00 per year at their location. Service and equipment downhill. Hours much shorter.
November 8 posted a “masks required” rule but the staff refuse to enforce it. COVIDiots working out all over the gym with no regard for personal space. Spoke to front desk and social media people and no changes.
Stay away from this gym. I signed up for month to month membership and after I cancelled my membership they kept collecting payments biweekly and put on hold of my funds that was not authorized.Every time I called to complain they went ahead and collected the money on hold and it wasn't even on the correct dateline . They did it 3 times already . it's getting Ridiculous. Now that I am trying to get the money back I am getting voicemails and diverted responces. They blame their billing system. This place is a scam.

Awesome staff and great assortment of equipment. Booked a training session with Tony and he showed me muscles I never knew I had. He was super knowledgeable and showed me problems with my form and how to lift better in order to avoid injuries down the line. Still recovering but can't wait to go again. Highly recommended :)!!

Decent, clean gym which could use some more equipment. The gym needs some more squat racks, bench and incline racks along with a hammer curl bar. Another set of cables would also be nice and the gym should be open for 24 hours at least from Monday to Friday. The parking lot is small but there is plenty of parking at superstore which is a 2 minute walk from the gym. Most of the staff I have encountered here are friendly and seem to be happy.
My friend signed up with fitness world in September. When they signed up, they also signed up for a trainer. They were told that it’ll be $175 a month (including the trainer.) My friend recently figured out that fitness world has been taking out that amount on a weekly basis, not including the gym fee. They signed a contract and were misguided to sign $2150 personal training contract. My friend has lost close to $700 already because it wasn’t explained to them that it will be on a weekly basis. When they communicated this to fitness world, they just told them that it’s not their problem and they refuse to help. My friend has been trying to reach the regional manager but we cannot find any contact for them. The general manager wasn’t taking any time to talk about this issue. My friend has emailed 4 different managers at the lougheed location multiple times since October. The general manager at the location resigned so their case has been tossing around to different managers and no one is helping at all. They barely have any rent money left as they’re an international student here.

Horrible place. Takes about 30 minutes to find parking or more. Went in for a free training session and was charged 100 bucks had to fight to get it back. Don't waste your time with this gym.
Hands down, best personal trainer, Jacob Stebbings! Jacob knows exactly how the body mechanics work and is 100% focused on your own personal fitness needs. He will push you to do your absolute best and will be your biggest motivator when you need it. His rehabilitation focus has been an absolute game-changer for me personally. Five stars doesn’t cut it, Jacob is 10 ⭐️

5 Star Experience- From the moment I entered the gym, I was instantly impressed with the friendly & sincere greeting we received. The General Manager Harsh extended us a warm welcome and made the entire process easy and simple. Harsh and his team made the process of joining a gym more comfortable and professional. Harsh will definitely be my "go to" guy in the future & I will be certainly recommending his services to family & friends looking for a great gym to join. It's true... the people make the difference, and the staff at Langley Fitness world made this by far the best experience.
Fitness world has been a great gym to come in and lift, its great to be able to just chalk up and clean at the cages. To me this sets this gym apart from everywhere elts that dose not let you do any of the Olympic lifts.
if there's a dude at the front desk, come back another time. They are literally worse than useless and have the equivalent iq of a sea sponge. That is until they try to sell you something and all of the sudden they're super engaged and talkative. A girl eventually helped me and sorted my problems out, but oh man besides the manager vlade the guys here are all useless, train your male employees to actually do their job instead of asking people to come back another time.
Stay away from this gym; cancellation run around nightmare; great gym but the standard policies and contract are a headache Don't be fooled with the low monthly price (hidden fees include $39.99 yearly fees and additional $39.99 quarterly fees) READ THE FINEPRINT BEFORE YOU SIGN A CONTRACT And when you cancel, they will milk your credit card/bank for an additional 30 days until finally ending this one sided relationship There are better gyms in Nanaimo so please do shop around before you step foot in this place No wonder they went bankrupt earlier this year as "Steve Nash Fitness" and they rebranded to "Fitness World" to keep milking the uninformed

I don't really care about this gym, but the Zumba instructor whose name is Andi or Andiswa is the most amazing Zumba instructor ever! She can move it!
As someone who goes to the gym regularly, I can confidently say that this one is by far the best in Langley. They're equipment is plenty, rarely wait for anything. Every morning their manager (Harsh) is out and about greeting each member making sure their needs are met. Incredible service!!
Excellent gym, its not very busy ever and they have all the equipment you could ever need. The classes are great, I know there is some women upset about them getting rid of the female only section but if you're a man or okay with working out with men then its a great gym. Also Rhys is the man!

They are thief's, I did not sign up for fitness world I signed up and signed a contract for Steve Nash. With no communication they opened as Fitness world and started withdrawing money from my bank account. I did not approve of this. I have been in contact with management for over a month now and they take weeks to get back to you. I will be contacting the BBB.
Harsh has been extremely helpful with an issue i was having with my membership. He went above and beyond to ensure my issue gets resolved. He is very well spoken and friendly, making the entire situation that much easier. The equipment is great and it’s a large facility so if you can easily find a quiet section to work out in if preferred. Only thing i wish they had would be a hip thrust machine or hip thrust set up! That would make this gym even better than it is. Thank you Harsh!:)

I have been a member since 1981 and have been through 2 previous ownerships. I’ve stayed because they consistently provide a great place to train. They have always attracted high quality trainers and staff that make it a fun environment to be in. I had the opportunity recently to be trained by Chelsey who really knows her stuff! I would recommend her to newbies as well as experienced athletes looking to improve their training technique and level of fitness. Keep up the good work!

I have been going to the gym on and off for the last four to five years and I've been doing the same routine since I started. Recently I decided to book a personal training session with Tony because I was looking to expand my workout exercises and see why I have been plateued at my current strength. Tony asked me about all of my routines and identified areas in which I can improve the workouts before we started our session. In the training session, Tony pushed me to limits I did not know I had because he was able to see I was not working at my being my best self at the gym. I haven't felt as fulfilled doing a workout as I did with one session with him and I learned enough new information and exercises to help "restart" myself at the gym. He is incredibly knowledgeable and curates the training sessions to your specific needs as opposed to doing generic workouts. I would recommend him to anyone that wants to give personal training a chance as he will show the value of it!
One of the better Fitness World that I go to. I'm usually there early mornings so it isn't too busy. Staff is always friendly and it's fairly large with lots of equipment. The only downside is the men's change room. There hasn't been hot water in the main sink for over 3 months now, and the showers look filthy. Also, the toilet in the handicap stall, more often than not, is plugged up
I haven't been to the gym in a few years, basically since high school. I had a shoulder injury shortly after that really affected my mobility. I decided to get back in the gym after feeling like I really needed to do something to fix my shoulder as well as make me feel confident and strong again. I bought 2 sessions of personal training (they also added a 3rd for free!!!) to work on my form to make sure I'm not further injuring myself and I got Chelsey as my trainer! She walked me through every exercise and put a routine together to strengthen my shoulder as well as cater to my other goals as well. After 3 weeks of training, my pain in my shoulder has cut in half and I feel happier and healthier!! My posture has improved as well! I recommend anyone that is looking for pain-free workouts to book with Chelsey! She's super dope, outgoing and made me feel really comfortable!

Extremely disappointed in management's decision's to get rid of the fitness world Langley location's women's only section, especially because they never said anything about getting rid of it. Many women do not feel comfortable working out around males, that's why it was good to have a women's only section. Not willing to pay for a membership any longer while being made uncomfortable in the now even more male dominated areas. No thanks, cancelled my membership today!! I'll be going else where :)
I was told i can cancel through email. Tried to cancel through email with no response for over a month. Keep getting charged. I never agreed to a new company to charge my card. I even canceled Nash when covid hit.

Great gym with friendly staff. I found every exercise machine I needed as well as a good set of cable machines, free weights and an upstairs for body weight exercises. Overall, excellent gym with lots of space.

My personal trainer Kyle has helped me so much to reach my goals even when I broke my finger he helped create workout plans around that, the hours are very flexible and I have nothing but good things to say about this place, great equipment, knowledgeable and friendly staff and fair prices, I will definitely be renewing my membership here.

Cancelled my membership mid June then got charged for “annual gym upgrade fee” of ~$65.... never had anything upgraded in the 2+years I’ve been here lol. Paying for non existent upgrades to a gym I cancelled my membership to... doesn’t make sense. Also lack of parking and threat of being towed for parking in certain areas by Steve Nash and surrounding businesses

Terrible and uncoordinated staff. Had an issue with ongoing payment and staff had only informed me after I was THREE months behind after my first enrolment. Tried to call to resolve the issue but no manager was willing to help explain why staff never waved me down after the first 2 weeks. Do not go here.

For the last seven months, I have made many attempts to cancel my membership by calling and emailing the head office. Yesterday I was charged again for a membership fee that was supposed to be cancelled. If you do get a call or email back, they will first question your decision to cancel, then send you an email again asking if you’re sure, and then charge you the monthly fee anyways. Seems impossible to get out of the membership.
I recently started working with one of the Personal Trainers (Chelsey) at Fitness World Lougheed. Immediately, I recognized the quality of training this club has to offer. Chelsey has provided me with a training plan tailored to my specific goals, and the Fitness World personal training app has been great in supplementing my progress so far. With each session, Chelsey has been amazing at providing cues for improving my lifting, in addition to providing any progressions or regressions when needed. In addition to being able to work one on one with a personal trainer, programming and many other features are included in a mobile app. The app can connect to many features such as smart watches, myfitnesspal, and more to keep track of progress outside of the gym when I am not with my trainer. This is something I quite enjoy as the app keeps me accountable for my goals, and keeps me on top of both my programming and my wellbeing. That being said, I learn so much with each session, and I am looking forward to continuing to train with Chelsey at Fitness World Lougheed.
100000% recommend Joel Klassen as a personal trainer! He’s personable, knowledgeable and can work with any fitness level. I’ve learned so much from him in only a couple of sessions as a personal trainer myself. There’s no limit to what you can learn and the way your body can move and Joel definitely proves that! So for that extra push, motivation or whatever it is that you’re missing… Joel is THE guy!

Excellent equipment, good staff. Been a member for 6 years now on/off. I have seen this gym evolve into what it is now and it has been a great improvement. I would like to see the hours return to 24hrs/day mon-fri and late night sat/sun. Those of us who work shift work can't make it to the gym in time on weekends. Also with the local compitition around increasing I think it's time. (Ie 24hr, cheap gyms)
This location not only makes me willing keep coming back to workout but also has been offering me a good experience of the personal training. I personally prefer this location because of the good experience of communication between the staffs and the transparency of its business, and for me, transparency and honesty are big deals in business. I neither had any personal trainer before nor changed/improved my diet, but I started my very first personal training program on December 2020. After three weeks in the program, my diet and workout have been improved thanks to my trainer's tailored workout program and nutrition plan. Personally, I have decided to continue with the personal training program in this particular location because the philosophy of the program itself and the dedication of my trainer help me build a better physique and better diet.
Yes, the good old ‘gym enhancement fee’. Was completely blindsided by this. I joined with my 2 children and was charged this fee x3. That was a hard pill to swallow, especially since no one mentioned it beforehand.
Just wanted to join a different gym. Spoke to a rep on the phone who was nice enough so I came down to take a look around the gym. However, upon arrival I was met with the most bitter and unpleasant receptionist who was incredibly rude and hostile right off bat. My first inquiry about the hours of operation was immediately met with a response to check the website. I tried to remain patient as I didn't want to judge the entire staffing team over 1 persons rude comments, but I was unable to even get through to see the the gym (which I'll give benefit of doubt to the gym as I assume they want to keep it as clean and spaced out as possible due to Covid) but didnt hear it from the receptionist. After a bit of frustration, I asked if I could get a temporary pass to try the gym. The receptionist responded by saying that if I was so concerned with the hours of operation why would I want a pass? At this point I had enough with this gym as it was a waste of my time and being polite got me nowhere. I left and went to the Goodlife Fitness down the road who had much friendlier staff and got my temporary pass after a much more pleasant conversation. If all works out I might just sign with Good Life instead. Who would have thought that Steve Nash is doing so well that certain receptionists can afford to bc rude to potential new members?
I recently started personal training with Tony. He's a great addition to have by your side during your workouts. After a month of training i feel much more confident in and around the gym. He’s committed to guide you in achieving your goals. I would highly recommend tony to anyone wanting a dedicated trainer to help push you to your limits.

Overall a good gym. I really like the equipment and there's lots of space to workout. The reason my rating is 2 instead of 5 stars is because the parking lot is way too small for the gyms' capacity and I noticed that the personal trainers are really pushy. Another con of this gym is the facilities. The washrooms are always broken and in disrepair. Really disappointing for a commercial gym to not upgrade their broken toilets. Aside from these things, I really do like this gym. I just wish they would take the $50/ year "maintenance fee" and actually use it.
I have been attending the Nanaimo Fitness World location for about a year and training under the direction of Personal Trainer Andrea Biener. Andrea is terrific to work with. She personalized my training program to meet my fitness objectives, makes sure I use the proper form in the exercises and that I progress safely. I look forward to my training sessions each week and appreciate her professionalism and expertise. I feel I have made really good progress in my fitness level and general well-being.

I've tried a few gyms and have to say that this Fitness World has been my favorite by far. The staff and trainers are extremely knowledgeable, passionate and dedicated. They do an excellent job of keeping their equipment sanitized as well. Highly recommended!

Place is very low end... upkeep is pathetic... broken equipment, bent bars, weights never put away... spend your money elsewhere... 1.5 out of 5 at the most.
They went bankrupt, re-opened under a different name and different owners and started charging my card right away!!! The funny thing is that I'm not even a member anymore!
My partner and I had such a great experience here today I had to share. I have attended the gym previously and I can resonate with previous negative reviews from months ago under old management. HOWEVER- the staff really is doing their best given the current condition of the pandemic, and ever changing regulations. The new General Manager, Theo, is an absolute delight and was very patient with all my questions and concerns. I cannot recommend this facility enough!

Hi there guys. I'm surprised that the sport center does not support a healthier lifestyle, like I can't go there in my bike because there are not loops to lock it safely. Is summer and weather makes easier to act on reducing my carbon foot print, so I'm driving as little as possible, and walking or riding my bike everywhere... especially to the gym.
The Lougheed gym is a great place to work out. Sadly the front counter staff and management are quite useless and unprofessional. If you go, just know that it's a free for all and although they post rules for everyone's health and safety, they don't make any attempt to enforce them and their front counter staff will even confirm that to you if you ask them. When masks were required, the staff wouldn't make any effort about ensuring that a safe space for all their clients was being provided by enforcing the rules around masks. Claims that they enforce the rules are just laughable. For the best experience, I highly advise avoiding all interactions with the front counter staff and management, even if they attempt to speak to you. Just ignore them and go about your business as they won't do anything because they are too afraid to. Follow this advice and your experience should be good. Good gym; useless and unprofessional staff

I've always hated personal trainers as they can be overbearing and not empathetic to my situation but ever since I started training with Ezekiel my fitness journey has been so much easier because he is such an amazing communicator and an absolute wealth of knowledge without the pressuring I feared. I look forward to going to the gym now and highly recommend him as a trainer ????
This gym is superb. The staff are all extremely friendly and are very easy to approach for assistance, and the gym is well cleaned by members and staff with wipes that are always available in every section of the gym. In regards to staff, I was most pleased with Chelsey. She takes the time to get to know members of the gym with tons of TLC to those she trains (my partner trained with her and absolutely loved her) and makes sure everyone is following health protocols including wearing masks properly. If there was a lifting platform and a turf field for sled push that would be an amazing addition to the gym...oh and a trap bar too.
Fitness World in Nanaimo is demanding that I come in person to cancel my membership. The reason I have to cancel my membership is because I can not enter the establishment without a vax passport, but apparently they make an exception when you come in to cancel. I told them this was nonsense, and inconvenient for me. If this had anything to do with a virus, why would they want me to go there in person. BTW the manager was extremely rude and condescending.

I’ve trained with Sonya Lagare for 10 months, and I have become a-lot better at regular fitness thanks to her guidance! I used to suffer from knee pain and low energy levels when exercising. After training with Sonya, I have drastically improve my form and lost 7% body fat, built 7 lbs in muscle, and I now don’t have knee pain anymore. She is very kind and helpful during every session, which helped me look forward to every workout.
I recently cancelled my Membership at the Nanaimo Fitness World on April 29 2021. When doing so, I was not told (by an employee who's no longer working there) that I would also have to pay for the next month. I came in today to discuss the recent payments completed on my card from June 2021. Next, I was told there was a 30 day process time so that's why I had to pay for the next month as well. So, April 29 to May 29 is 30 days so my cancelation should of gone through. However, my girlfriend was was under my account as well and she handed her cancelation notice on May 7th 2021. Thus, I would have to pay for the month of June FOR HER and NOT ME. I was told to speak to the manager to discuss a refund, and I will. I understand that my girlfriend did not give her paperwork back at the same time as me so I would pay for her payment for the month of June for HER 30 day cancelation time. We paid $24.35 each for our memberships and two payments came out June 11 and June 25. So, what I don't understand is why I should be paying another $24.35 OUT of MY 30 day cancelation time. This place is a great gym, probably the best gym in Nanaimo. But, I wish I had gotten better communication in their cancelation process and how my partner affects the payments when she's under my account. She dropped off her paperwork when it worked best for her schedule. Just seems kind of slimy how it works. So for anyone going to Fitness World Nanaimo, just be aware of their cancelation policy and give them ample notice if you don't want any additional money taken from you.
My experience is seeing the counter employees are basically useless and stand around talking.
Very disappointed to head back to the gym only to find that they are not enforcing the wearing of masks. We're all sick of the pandemic and the rules, but businesses blatantly disregarding the recommendations of public health officials should not be allowed to operate. It has been widely proven that it slows the spread of covid-19 and hugely debunked that face masks limit oxygen levels. Listen to your scientists, medical professionals, and peer-reviewed studies, not your testosterone-addicted, protein-sucking personal trainer who reads momm blogs on the toliet.

This gym is unbelievable, went in to sign up for membership and was blown with a full payment deduction that was not authorized, now that I am trying to get the money back and cancel the membership I am getting voicemails and diverted responces. Calling memebr services is even worse the lady that picked up the phone treated me like a 5 year old child and was incredibly rude, defending Quin the GM at every cost. This place is a scam for the get go.
A great gym and great staff! I was helped by Harsh and he only made my experience that much better. I highly recommend this location and more specifically getting to know this man. Happy lifting ????????

I always have such an amazing time participating in Angi A.’s dance classes at FW Lougheed. She is an energetic, motivating, passionate, and talented instructor. The dance environment is very friendly, upbeat, and encouraging. Initially, I was nervous about not knowing any of the choreography, but Angi breaks down the steps to make them easier to follow. There is never ever a dull moment in her “sweaty” workouts. I would highly recommend her classes!

Ibrahima is a friendly, knowledgeable, professional trainer, and was able to help me narrow down and work on my personal fitness goals. I can tell he is really passionate in this industry and genuinely wants to help his clients grow. During my training, I've also met Ezekiel, one of the other trainers at the location, and he was also very informative and was able to provide informative tips on how to improve my shoulder mobility. I've been having shoulder issues for a while; he's always very willing to share his knowledge and expertise to members at the gym. Awesome two trainers I'd highly recommend!

Cancelled my account, they said I'll be charged until the end of next month, okay no problem. Got a call back 3 months later, saying I need to still pay for the last month because they stop billing you after you cancel your account? In what universe does this make sense? Why would they not just charge you when you cancelled the account?!?!?
No parking...group fitness and personal trainers think they own the place...tvs are now changed to advertisement and music videos...washrooms/changerooms are distgusting....lockers get broken into all the time...this place is taking a dive real fast...get back to the basics and cater to the demographic that keeps the doors open.

I came to this gym on during one of their promotions and started personal training with Ryan. He's super friendly and is very helpful and knowledgeable. Being a beginner, he helped me learn various exercises and get more comfortable at the gym as well as with nutrition. On top of that the gym is spacious and well-equipped. Staff are always welcoming!

I had a free trial last night of this gym and i'm honestly horrified at my experience. I will say the guys at the front desk were really nice and that wasn't the issue, the issue is the state of this establishment. All the toilets were overflowing, the change room and bathrooms were filthy. This gym is old, run down, and the equipment is rickety and missing knobs and buttons. Paint is chipping everywhere. Weights and equipment were thrown around everywhere. It needs serious TLC. Also, people were taking their masks off all over the place. Clearly it's not enforced.
The machines are often in poor condition & aren't kept up to maintenance .Thinking of switching to Trevor Linden gym

Out of all the SN locations I’ve been to, this one definitely has the worst change rooms. Lockers are rusted or broken, the lighting is so dim, there’s an outdated vanity mirror that nobody uses, and the room just overall feels dirty and unclean. The televisions in the Cardio area are small and difficult to watch at times (I also don’t know how I to watch the TV with sound (like a sporting event), looks like you need a transistor radio to do so?). I do like the equipment for the most part. It is usually fixed quickly, although cardio machines can sit there for weeks before they’re repaired. I think the “annual maintenance fee” is a joke. I don’t get why they don’t just add an extra few dollars biweekly instead of such a large lump sum at once.

As COVID #'s keep rising, many patrons at this gym still workout unmasked. The rules state you can workout unmasked if you can maintain 2m apart, which is nearly impossible especially at the free weights section. People workout in groups of 5+ at times. They eat, drink and chat in the changeroom without masks on. When asking the staff about maintaining the rules, they confirmed they only advise but do not monitor or enforce. Workout at your own risk!
From start to finish, the experience I was given at Langley Fitness World was amazing. For someone who does not know much about working out, the staff their were extremely friendly and always offered to help out. In addition, Harsh Thind was super accommodating. Answering any questions I had about form, routine and diet. All in all, the facility itself was well-kept and clean. For anyone who is in the market for joining a new gym, Langley Fitness World is the place to be!
The gym has everything you need to grow and improve! Friendly staff and if you ever want to get your butt kicked (in a good way), work out with Chelsey or Trey. They are extremely knowledgeable and will push you to become the best version of yourself!
Like so many others here , i suffer from the same problem, ,my mother is an older lady and she doesn't go to gym as much as she used to. despite the fact that she called them and asked for a refund. and despite the fact that she went to their location ( with everyone being scared about COVID) they refused her a refund , the manager at their surrey location refused to talk to her. how is that fair for an older lady to go out of her way in the middle of a pandemic and get denied a refund even though she called way in advance , and went to a physical location ! . this company is a scam ! please if you are reading this . stay away from this place !
I signed up because they had child care, payed for a personal trainer. Covid hit. I called and cancelled membership. Doors closed. I still was getting charged. Doors opened, no daycare. I called in, explained the only reason I signed up was for child care, as I am a single mother and cannot work out unless I have someone mining my child.... They had nothing to say, just...ya sorry about that... ( I do not want apologies, I simply want action taken to cancel my account and cancelle my membership) . Employees were rude and unprofessional. I still was getting charged monthly bills. I called in again. Employees assured me everything was cancelled. I asked to speak to the manager. They left me on hold for over 45 min. They picked back up and asked if they could help me I said, I was on hold for over 45 min to speak to the manager. I was told he was to busy and they hung up on me. I called back, and they picked up and hung up again. I get a phone call from the manager who said I had a ton owing and that I should call a number he was trying to give me to take care of this ! And he stated that the old manger no longer works there. In the end I do not care about their inner employee work problems. I AM a customer who was treated extremely unprofessionally, I am a customer who was also paying for private training sessions and did not recommended my last season yet was still charged. I am a customer who called in multiple times to cancel and was assured it was canceled and yet I'm still being charged and now I am to call the number they gave me as if it is my responsibility? I am sorry this is the company's responsibility to take care of their own interpersonal relationship issues with not only their employees but their customers as well if a customer has called into cancel and you have assured the customer that their account has been canceled and yet you still Bill them this is fraud. Do not be afraid to take this company to small claims court. Shame on all of you.

I am a regular and so is my family. The PTs are great especially Chelsea and Jasmine are the best. I managed to lose 22kgs in 8 months with the help of my personal trainers. I'll carry on building strength in 2022 with the same location

I've been to many gyms, but this one is life changing. The staff are awesome, the equipment is awesome, and the facility is awesome. I signed up for personal training with the new member pricing. I've been working with Angel for 3 sessions now, and it has changed my life. I have learned powerlifting, proper nutrition, mobility, and foam rolling. I feel like a new person, and I am loving the journey. Fitness World is worth every penny!
There is no fan and during your work out your temperature dramatically rise
First experience was using the 7 day pass for free access. After a couple days I was hooked with the olympic platform, hammer strength machines, the benches arent stiff and low. Probably on par with competition benches in power lifting. I just wish they had longer hours through out the whole week.
David is nice and professional. He definitely helped members train properly and achieve their goals.
Best gym in Nanaimo by far
My first visit a young man by the name of Victor welcomed me. He took some of my information and was very professional. He gave me a tour of the gym and answered any questions I had. I’ve been to many gyms over the years and this was a great experience. Thanks Victor. The gym is very clean and tidy and all the equipment that I seen was in near new condition and looked to be well maintained. Many cleaning stations that include sanitizing wipes, spray and plenty of paper towel. The only negative thing that comes to mind is all of the TVs are on the snow storm station and it’s an added bonus to be able to watch highlights on sports centre while I workout but all in all a 5 out of 5.
Very friendly staff. Trainers have lots of passion and will always encourage the best out of you. Highly recommend to anyone who is looking for a good workout, regardless of their experience in the gym.

Horrible customer service, I walked in and they signed me up for a membership, they never disclosed the cancellation policy or anything, they tried to charge me for 6 fees when my contract wasn’t even in term and threatened to send me to collections for it, I had even spoken with numerous employees about cancelling my membership and was told I had to provide proof I wasn’t able to work out.. horrible
They are not checking for vaccine passports, I have not been asked once since the mandate started. From the Fitness world emails I’ve received, it seems like it is company policy to be making sure members show proof of vaccination and register with the front desk, but this specific location is not following their own company guidelines. Other gyms like Anytime fitness have systems put in place where you must scan your vaccine passport’s QR code before you enter and members have the option to do a one time registration, so they do not need to keep scanning it each time. Not sure why a bigger gym such as Fitness World / this location can’t, or refuse to, employ a similar simple system to ensure member safety and comfortability. Also from my observation, front desk staff seem to hardly acknowledge members when they enter in the first place.

Equipment gets updated regularly. Most of the staff are quite friendly these days, unlike years past. Parking is still awful, but there's not much they can do about that.

Best gym in area for the money by a country mile.People moan about parking the superstore is less than 200 meters away and Willowbrook mall is across the road .People here expect to park right outside .
I've been to many gyms in the lower mainland and this is by far my favorite! Great atmosphere, great equipment, and helpful staff. Everyone is so welcoming and the energy is amazing.
UPDATE: Don't give them your phone number. I just got texted by an associate?? "This is Lindy, I’m a Master Trainer in the langley Steve Nash gym. How are you?" It's so hard to take this location seriously when you pay $50-$60 in their annual maintenance fees but their change rooms haven't ever been updated. I remember going to this gym before it was Steve Nash, about 15 years ago, and the change rooms were the exact same. I don't know how the guy's bathroom is but in the girl's about 80% of the time there's at least one of the bathroom stalls will be out of order. I remember when the skeezy manager was away on vacation and during that time you could actually see an associate going around the gym and putting back weights and cleaning up the equipment. When he's in you'll see a couple associates sitting behind the front counter taking and then the sales people will just sit in their cubicle on their phone. If I'm paying for a maintenance fee every year, maybe update the damn place? If you tore down half the bathroom people wouldnt mind knowing something is actually being done to update the place. Also side note you know things are bad when I went to the HighStreet location, lady asked what location I usually work out at, and when I mentioned Langley she scrunched up her face and apologized. That location is actually nice and the bathrooms are clean and well lit.
Great experience since day one!! Spoke with the manager Harsh, very friendly and approachable. Answered all my questions and suggested me membership which works well for me and saves me money on top. New equipments and renovated change room/ washroom. Would 100% suggest it anyone who is looking for a new gym.
Really like the buzz and atmosphere and welcoming vibe by the staff and new manager. I think I will start going everyday to the gym again. Thanks to the team for all their help, patience and motivation today????
Garbage place to workout. They intimidate, Over charge and bash clients behind their backs. 3.3 stars way to many for this place. Check out all the other local gyms and steer clear of this toxic environment. It should tell you something when Steve Nash doesn't even want to be associated to this place.
The last few times I have gone in there has been no wipes or spray in the women’s only section and it’s been filled with equipment from other parts of the gym just laying around. The women’s change room had discarded masks on the floor and looked as it hadn’t been wiped down in days. Quite disappointing when there are often 2 or 3 staff chatting behind the counter.
Taking advantage of the free pass and so far so excellent. This will be my gym of choice when I fully become a member. The staff are so welcoming too! Keep it up

Couldn't be happier with the facility and the staff at FW Langley. I switched over from Club 16 after being unhappy with the costumer service there. FWL is a world of a difference. The Staff here is more than happy to help and are very engaging with workouts. Harsh goes above and beyond from just greeting members and that's what I love about this gym.
Is there anything such as maximum capacity? I dont think this gym knows of that..if you want keep having all these promos to gain new clients, then you also need to expand the gym, and the hours. Too frequently i have wait 10 to 15 mins for a bench or a squat rack. Other then fact that it gets too busy and parking gets hectic...i love the gym, its clean,it has great equipment, the staff is very knowledgeable, friendly and always smiling...so hopefully top level management finds a clever solution to the over crowded problem the gym faces...maybe a second Langley location?

Good gym with pretty much everything you need starting from free weights to machines/equipment and much more! However their customer service was dissapointing. The front desk representatives seem barely interested in their work and are not the most friendliest people. I got what I wanted out of the gym so I am giving it a 4 star.
Do not sign up with Steve Nash. They're a bunch of scammers. They charge you ridiculous fees for a membership compared to other gyms. I'm glad I cancelled with them. Trevor Linden is opening soon in Langley, I would suggest to sign up with them.
This is a great gym, its clean, the staff are amazing and the over all vibe is just outstanding. I have trained with both Kate and Chelsey, would recommend both.

Hey Fitness world I been training for few months during this summer in this location. The air conditioning is horrible . I have complained a few times about it nothing is been done . Just I want saying manger your service is 0 star think about it
I love training at this gym. The set up of the equipment is perfect, it's nicely spaced out and i love that the cardio machines are upstairs. I'm all about the stairmills and this gym has a wall lined up with them, amazing! I never have to wait for machines and the gym is always kept clean, especially the bathroom/changeroom. The staff are super friendly too, so welcoming. The GM, Harsh is so knowledgeable and friendly, and is always willing to share his workout tips. He's awesome. I'm so happy i switched over to this gym, it definitely gets me motivated to get that pump on. I will be trying out some of their group classes soon too, and I'm excited!

I love this gym but they’re allowing people who refuse to wear a mask into the gym. For the most part everyone is good but you always get that ONE person who has some excuse up their sleeve for why they can’t wear a mask, but can do hard cardio the entire time they’re there. Apparently fitness world can’t turn these people away, even during a pandemic. Pretty disappointing.
I usually go workout there on weekends. The staff is so professional and always friendly. Specially Harsh Thind who took time to show me where all the machines are. Also, super knowledgeable person about workout and diet. Will definitely renew my membership here.
Would rate lower if I could. I’ve been a member for 16 years. They went bankrupt and closed. Then reopened with new owners and they started charging my credit card without my consent. The location I went to never reopened. They should not have access to anyone’s credit card information.
This gym is excellent. It is staffed with wonderful trainers and support staff. You're always welcomed with a warm greeting upon your arrival, no matter the time of day. Whenever someone in my social circle expresses interest in finding a gym, I point them in the direction of Steve Nash Fitness World in Langley. I love working out at this gym and find the atmosphere to be inclusive and safe for new gym goers.

I really like this facility.I have had the pleasure of working with some great trainers over the years, while I was in professional sports and since, and I must say that your organization is very lucky to have a trainer like Brian Karolak. He is a great trainer that listens, observes and designs each session with the absolute result in mind. Its nice to see my review again, this was posted last year!
Thank God they replaced that god-awful staff from the previous regime. Chyll bruh, you ain’t a cop, you’re a personal trainer. They walked around with their chests out, and acted like they were better than everyone else. Glad they don’t make you wait outside in this terrible weather to get a gym session in. No “appointments” just straight business. Thanks guys.

The WORKS class is awesome!! Best value if you want personal training in a small group setting. Joel and Kyle are amazing trainers. They’re so patient committed and supportive. They make coming in everyday super fun and challenging! It’s been 3 weeks and I already see huge changes. Thanks boys!! You guys are THE BEST
This gym has a good atmosphere. Majority of people are friendly but really dislike the fact of putting weights back on the RACKS!!!!! Staff is all really nice. They always greet you when you come in and don't mind chatting. This gym could be the worst in the history for it's choice of music. Imagine yourself getting through a hard set and really pushing while listening to a remake of the Lion King. That doesn't get you going, maybe bumping some Sarah McLachlan or perhaps Frozen while getting your Swoll on. My advice to anyone that goes to this gym, wear headphones or buy yourself a good set because you will absolutely despise the choice of music

Scammer money grabbers. They cancelled my personal training and told me I did when COCOD hit and now I can't use them. I have cancelled my membership and they are still charging me for a membership even though I paid the final month when I signed up. Do not go to this gym unless you want to have your membership lost or cancelled and your money gone.

For a business that is taking over "Steve Nash" since they went bankrupt, they are off to a poor start. I canceled my Steve Nash Membership over a year ago due to covid, I also changed my credit card information . During this time Steve Nash went bankrupt and reopened as Fitness World I recently called Fitness world as I am interested in starting the gym again to find out they have still been billing me and am in arrears over $100.00(no payment method is hooked up to my account) Fitness world, I have never worked out at your facility nor have I worked out under the previous business name, there must have been miss communication with SteveNash. I never signed a contract with Fitness world- clear my account balance. For anyone looking for a gym I would stay clear of this establishment, they will screw you around. There is no head office or customer support. Do the right thing and clear my account and I'll consider signing up with you, I cannot believe how much of a hassle you are causing.

Enjoy the equipment but won't be renewing my pass due to high pressure sales with trainers assuming you will hire them on as soon as they give you a free session. On top of that they mark up their products by almost 30% compared to Popeyes supplements, at least when comparing biosteel product. Great gym, but hard to feel comfortable when you're constantly being sold something.
Check out this facility. It is 24,000 square foot, with high ceilings 30 to 40 feet, great ventilation and state of the art equipment, looks like an adult indoor playground. Great place to work and play:let the front desk staff and trainers help you

Sleazy and borderline fraudulent business. I unfortunately made the choice to sign up with the gym back in March and to my disadvantage I ended up having to pay the price for my mistake well after my cancellation. Aside from multiple “surprise” fees that were not disclosed when signing up , the gym itself is putrid... With little to no ventilation on some days, neglected change rooms / exercise areas, a dodgy general manager and his accompanying sales henchmen; your experience at Steve Nash Langley is second to none . Essentially, I felt the need to cancel a few weeks before my third month with the club for countless reasons (I encourage you to read others’ reviews on this establishment for just a handful of common examples), and to my surprise I am charged $64 to my credit card for an “annual upkeep fee”. Now when I called in to make the complaint, of what for some delusional reason I still thought was an accidental mistake; I was finally connected to the assistant manager who assured me that the “refund would be applied” but would require a “manager present to authorize it”. I then proceeded to call 3 days in a row to speak to a manager who conveniently “wasn’t in” during their 10-6pm regular schedule. This was then followed by dodged emails and non-returned calls. Fortunately, I got a hold of a manager who told me that because the account is technically still active 30 days after cancellation - CANCELLATION - it was a meaningful charge and that there “wasn’t anything anyone could do about it, sorry”. Take it from me or the numerous other people who had the pitiful opportunity to stop by this place; stay away. Golds Gym and the new Club 16 are the way to go if you’re looking for a solid nearby gym in that vicinity. Nasty little place. PS don't provide a phone number to this place unless you are comfortable with getting your phone blown up aggressively and constantly by salesreps asking you to please text back “Y” if you would like to hear more about their great deals , 47 times a week, between 9am and 9pm - even after you’re already a member or presently working out in their gym LOL
Great gym that is clean, has a positive vibes & Great staff. Harsh Thind is very knowledgeable in all aspects of the gym/gym life. He is a good example of what dedication & persistence does for someone that is starting their gym journey.
Went to try out the gym instead of getting to try the gym it was just a high pressure sales if I would have had the opportunity to try the gym for a couple of hours and see if I was comfortable there I might have thought about a membership

i emailed the company for cancellations , I got no response at all after a month. talked to the reps in the Lougheed branch, they sent the paper work for me to cancel, it takes forever and it kept charging my credit card.

Great gym, 3 stars for not having signage at the Push track. We joined in anticipation of doing sled pushes, and it is mainly used as a stretching area for everybody. The trainers should know better, but have signs restricting use to Sled pushes and related turf activity. Also the cleaning Purell system is not the best due to a lot of garbage.

I had been a member here when it was Steve Nash - prepandemic and went at least 4x weekly. I just started coming back after 2 years. Since returning to now Fitness World I am so happy that I did. The staff are so engaged,friendly and feel like they really are glad - even grateful that you are there. The front desk team greet you and also say good bye … using my actual name with eye contact. That is huge especially during these difficult times. My daughter felt encouraged to join for the first time after not being sure based on my great experience. I am so happy she did. It is important for physical health and mental health. I feel part of this gym - that is a great feeling . Thanks Lougheed team!
I've been training here since it was Steve Nash [pre-pandemic] and I've never failed to have a great workout. Recently started going back [few months ago] and noticed how friendly the staff is and how professional and knowledgeable the trainers are.

The manager Kenny made me feel uncomfortable on two separate occasions. I prefer going to other locations where I am not made to feel this way.
I like the Hoist machines at this gym and I would like to renew my membership but the loud music they play at night is deterring me from joining again. Even when every person in the place is wearing headphones ( because not all people like the same music) they blare their choice of music throughout the facility so that you have to turn your volume up way too loud on your headphones to try to drown out the noise. I've asked them to turn the music down when I was one of the few people in the place ( and all present had headphones on) and the front staff refused and said they were not allowed to. No other gym that I have been to has annoyingly loud music like this. I find that people who want to workout to music, wear headphones; others want peace.
Chelsey Hupe is friendly, energetic and has 2 adorable doggies. I have been training for powerlifting for around 4 months now and I thought I had the movements and form correct, but after we went over some mobility movements, I learned that I had a bad form that could have lead me to an injury. Thankfully Chelsey saved my back from breaking like a credit card when you bend it back and forth. She is very inspiring as she is also a boxer so you do not want to mess with her. She makes personal training fun and engaging for those who aren't really motivated to get in shape or correct their movements. I am definitely going to apply everything I learned with her. Stretching and mobility movements are lucrative when it comes to power lifting so you have a full range of motion. I would highly recommend Chelsey Hupe to be your personal trainer.

I often see people not wearing masks or not wearing them properly. I have some issues with my account and have reached out several times to head office but there has been a lack of response.
Its a nice place, but be prepared to be coxed into signing a contract that will be misleading. People here try to make you sign contracts with a added benefits and when asked specifics about it never respond or tell you the amount of time needed to cancel the contract. People at front desk are not to be trusted!
The manager (Harsh) was so helpful and made coming here a great experience. The service was definitely above my expectations. Gonna recommend this gym to all my friends and family!
Honest review of someone who’s been going 5 days a week for many many months. First off, the gym is clean and I mean very clean which is nice. They have lots of equipment, but keep taking out equipment that people actually use so it results in lots of idle equipment nobody likes to use. If you go during busy hours good luck getting your workout done. I have been to better gyms honestly, and they charge you lots of hidden fees. Only gets 3 stars because of how clean and fresh the gym always is.

The Langley Fitness World has been great! The gym has good equipment that is well maintained, and the staff is friendly and helpful. There are no booking times or time limits, but I don't struggle to find equipment. Nicole the manager made it very easy to sign up and answered all of my questions.
Overall a great gym has all the equipment that one could need! Can be a little busy after 4-5pm but if you go before then you have a lot of space to yourself!
No complaints at all only one recommendation though if somehow Management try to work into the gym culture and even post on the walls and the machines to members to please not monopolize one machine for like 30 minutes or try to tie up two or three other machines. I don’t mind it as long as you’re willing to swap sets but people get very territorial and it would be nice to see that change I have already witnessed a few altercations between patrons and it decreases enjoyment of the atmosphere that Nash is trying to promote.

I have been a member here for 6 months approximately. I joined onto my partners membership, who has been working out here for over 2 years. Since we began working out we have had numerous experiences which have led us to write this review. When we initially signed me up, the sales members computer froze mid-sign up. He offered to leave the computer open until the next day so that we could continue the sign up. The computer was open to a screen with all of my personal info including my credit card info. I obviously declined. He also failed to show us around the gym- and asked us which membership we wanted- without explaining anything about what each membership entailed. Despite this experience we continued our sign up, because my partner was locked into a contract and wasn’t able to leave- and we wanted to work out together. About 2 months ago there was an incident where we went into the women’s washrooms- which are located through the change rooms. At the washrooms we realised there was a maintenance man working on the toilet. There was no signage anywhere that there was a man in the facilities. This is concerning especially because you need to walk through the changing area to get to the washrooms, so it could easily be missed that he was back there. Similarly, despite having a women’s only workout section upstairs, we consistently have seen male trainers upstairs, marketing their services to women working out. They are not actively training anyone at the time, more so working on sales pitches. Upstairs in the women’s section there is a repeated disappearance of barbells, free-motion pulley machine attachments, kettle bells and the Olympic bar, which are used by trainers in other areas. The vast majority of cardio equipment is in need of maintenance and non-functional. Almost every stair master is out of order. There are post-it notes all over the equipment detailing the need for servicing. Combined, my partner and I pay over 80$ monthly for our memberships. It has grown increasingly frustrating that our experience at the club leaves us more angry after a workout than pleased. I have contacted both head office and the Langley location and they have been unresponsive about these issues.
A good gym when working out, but got screwed over in charges when I had to cancel membership. Went in to talk and was told if I get charged, I need to contact them and they would give a refund. When I contacted them that I was charged, I was told that they can't do anything about it even though I was told I could. Annoying
They’ve honoured my previous contract and are willing to to honour my personal training package purchased before the shut down. The staff have always been amazing and I really appreciate the care they put into their clients!
I tried to cancel my membership after SN Fitness World closed its doors. They charged me two days before they shuttered their doors. I writes several emails to complain and cancel. I noticed they wanted me to cancel in person which angered me. I drove to the Lougheed Mall location to cancel. I was told my membership was already cancelled which upset me because I drove from Cloverdale because Langley hadn’t reopened. I got an email a week later stating my membership was cancelled. I also changed my credit card.Today I noticed they tried to charge me again but card declined it. I suspect the new Fitness World will be closed very soon.

So unhappy with this gym. I have been using the childminding service with this gym (which was wonderful) since I started. I am moving to aldergrove and unfortunately would not be able to use the Abbotsford location as they do not offer childminding and this is the reason I signed up with Steve Nash in the first place. I called member service and spoke with an incredibly rude woman named Renee who told me I was unable to cancel and get a refund as I could use the Abbotsford location... clearly I cannot because they DO NOT OFFER childminding! I will also not drive for over half an hour each way with 2 babies (I am pregnant again) to go to the Langley gym. Those were the options I was given! They will not offer me a refund or even a partial refund for paying the year in advance. They are terrible and I have never heard of anywhere treating their members so poorly. I truly liked the gym until all of this. I would never ever recommend this gym to anyone!

I have always been someone who is self conscious while working out and have been trying to find a gym I’m comfortable in. A friend of mine referred me to Fitness world and put me in contact with Harsh Thind, he made me feel super comfortable and helped make my experience with a new gym really ideal, after my first workout I was then contacted to ensure I enjoyed my experience. I am thankful for the professional and comforting staff and am thrilled to finally find a place I feel welcomed in. I will definitely recommend this place to family and friends! Thank you to Harsh and other staff members for helping me gain my confidence back!
Very nice staff. Very clean. Tanning beds not working yet. No cold drinks available yet. The structure of the memberships means if you want tanning and hydromassage you have to also have child minding? Will have to wait till they are a 100% up running to see if it's worth the full package. 60 a month includes everything. Will update then but for now its 4 stars...
Victor and Doug are so friendly and nice, they motivate me to come to the gym every day. It’s just not the same without them
I love this gym, but, I really wish the rules around mask-use were clear and actually enforced. It doesn't make sense to have people constantly touching their mask to remove it during their workouts, and hanging their dirty masks off of the equipment.
Fitness World, Austin Ave, Coquitlam, BC. Been a member the past 18 months. Staff stays on top of cleanliness, broken equipment as they become aware of it, send reminders re PT sessions, NEVER had an issue w/ membership, private sessions, product IE Meal Replacement Protein Powder, info re energy/thirst products etc. Top shelf facility and service that all staff should be proud. Five(5) stars all the way around only because there’s not ten(10)
Terrible Parking, unfriendly staff. The only times i was spoken to by training staff was when they wanted to sell me personal training sessions. No response to my email inquiry of why there is a membership increase.

Honestly, there is no better gym in Nanaimo. They are upfront about the enrollment fee and annual fee (they make you sign that someone has told you about all the fees before you can even pay for your membership). I've never felt more welcome in a gym. Keep it up and you guys will thrive for years to come
I have been a member of Fitness World and have thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The staff are friendly and welcoming. I have worked with PT David Noda for most of my time there and find him very Professional and supportive of my desire to improve my fitness and correct my physical weaknesses. He has also assisted me in overcoming some recent health issues and incorporated exercises into my routine to assist my recovery. To this I am grateful.
I have sent an inquiry email 2 weeks ago regarding my previous membership, but I haven't heard back from them yet.
In this covid 19 pandemic they have opened the gym but poor sanitization. When you go to gym most of their hands sanitizing machines are not working. I have already complained to manager in langley, he said they will fix it soon but it has been more than two weeks now that he has not took any step regarding this. Moreover other sanitizing machines which were working before even they are not working now. Disinfectant bottles some times they are full but in evenings i find most of them are empty and the staff on the counter talk to each other rather than filling these empty bottles. For me they are not working on the safety of people who are doing exercise in gym.
My trainer Joel has been incredibly motivating and encouraging during our sessions. I have learned so much from him, his knowledge is outstanding and I am very happy with the progress I have made so far with his help!
I love this gym! Their staff are extremely friendly and very approachable. I took on some sessions with Chelsey Hupe after she approached me one day in the gym and offered some helpful pointers - I cannot say enough good stuff about her! If you are looking for a trainer who will give you guidance in the gym and beyond (and who actually cares about your progress) - I highly recommend :) Speaking to the gym, it is always very clean, and everyone follows COVID protocols! Overall, I feel very safe working out there as the staff are constantly cleaning and reminding folks of proper protocol (wearing masks, wiping down equipment, booking your session, etc.). The equipment they have available is very good- the only thing on my wish list is lifting platforms and possibly some turf with a sled? Otherwise, they have everything you could want. Overall- 10/10!!! :D
Jacob- terrific trainer..great personality and very knowledgeable in providing exercises for seniors would recommend to others of my age. Has a lot of patience as well

It is a gym. Fitness World has all the equipment to have great workouts. If you looking to be sexier and stronger come join us. Great personal trainers to get you started or put your headphones on, pick up a dumbbell and get going! :D

Solid gym with lots of equipment and two floors. Enough space that it never gets too crowded in and the staff are all friendly/professional.
Nice mix of beginners and experienced so no one feels too out of shape to be here. As is typical, sometimes machines with problems are not dealt with. I guess "out of order" signs would give the impression(correctly) that some things need fixing.
I have been a member of Fitness World on and off for 10+ years at other locations. I do prefer the Langley location as they have more space, variety of equipment. Recently I just returned as a member to be able to train with Terrell. I have been training with him for over a year & the gains I have achieved are amazing, I love his energy, motivation, knowledge & of course our talks

UPDATE: I thought I would update my post so everyone could knows what they offered us! They will not refund our money, but if we would like rejoin their gym they will apply the credit towards our new membership or if we know anyone at the gym they can apply our credit too! Let's think about this.. if we were happy at your gym we wouldn't have left in the first place. Now you try to bargain with us by saying come back and we will credit your fees, if you do not come back you will not get anything or if you want we can give your money away to someone else. Wish I could give them 0 Stars! *************************** My husband and I have belonged to Steve Nash Gym for many many years. The past 3 yrs., we had been attending the Steve Nash in Langley. We just recently cancelled our membership at this gym mainly due to the facilities needing some much needed updates. When you cancel your membership beware! I asked the girl if there were any hidden fees or surprises we should know about? I was assured more than once that we only had to pay, one more month membership (30 days’ notice) It is partly our fault for trusting her, but my advice is to READ all the tiny print that you are signing. Do not trust what they are telling you. Our yearly “gym enhancement fees” were due in June for the coming year. ($134 approx. for the two of us.) These “enhancement fees” are taken yearly to upgrade their current locations and to expand other locations. I’m not sure how the Langley location has been upgraded in the 3 yrs. we have been attending, the only thing we have noticed is building a new Juice Bar. Here are my suggestions on what needs to be done… Men and Women locker rooms need to be completely gutted. Equipment is old and dirty, and takes forever to get repaired. The nasty mats all need to be thrown away and replaced. The so called stretching area needs to be designated for stretching, stop filling it with old left-over equipment and make it bigger. At the present time you can fit perhaps 4 people there. I’m not sure who thought doing a Circuit class on a Saturday morning, in an already overcrowded gym was a good idea but it’s not. The parking at this location is completely ridiculous. My husband and I cancelled our membership in May 11, 2018. We didn’t mind giving 30 days’ notice, but paying for an enhancement fee for (June 2018-May 2019), to a gym that we won’t be attending, is terrible customer service and completely unfair. (You are robbing us of our money) If we cancelled one month earlier they would not have been able to withdrawal this enhancement fee. I hope this helps other families/people from not paying for an “enhancement fee” to a gym that they won’t be attending. We have tried making a couple of phone calls to Steve Nash but they are not interested in friendly or fair customer service.

Long time member 10+ years...recieved an offer for an "upgrade" which would cost me a tad more than what im currently paying but i could bring a guest. Overbilled me(or so i thought), manager told me that i read the email wrong and that it was an add-on not an upgrade. Had them read the email where it does not say that it was an add on. Then told me it was in the contract. Had them read the contract where the wording was not there either. Was basically told tough luck so i cancelled my membership. For the price they charge anyone would be better off at Club 16 which is just down the road.
Cancelled our memberships in June 2020. They kept charging us for 3 month! Once we noticed it we called them and now they are refusing to give us our money back. Pretty much saying you snooze you lose. Crooks!!! You're better off going to Trevor Linden or Anytime Fitness. Save yourself the headache!
Facility is well kept and maintained. The staff are friendly and approachable. The place does get packed during peak hours.
There was absolutely NO communication in their decision to get rid of the women's section. I walked upstairs one morning to be completely blindsided by a man on equipment staring right at me. If you're a woman with gym anxiety, I suggest looking elsewhere
The gym is clean and well equipped. The management and staff have observed all the Covid protocols including scanning the BC Vaccine Passport, which has increased my comfort level. I have trained with Andrea Biener since I joined the gym. Andrea understands my goals and has worked with me to develop a fitness program that meets my goals and my fitness level. She is always available if I have questions and follows up with me between sessions and that keeps me focused and motivated. Thanks Andrea.
I joined Steve Nash in July of 2017. I decided to switch gyms this fall as this one is poorly maintained, the change rooms are in disgusting condition, the equipment is outdated and I have seen much better looking Steve Nash facilities. I called in August to cancel my membership and I was told that I would need to pay for the next 2 payment cycles and for the September renewal fee. Since I had no choice, I agreed and now Steve Nash has billed my credit card a 3rd cycle. They also have charged me for the renewal fees on September 1st and October 1st, when it’s a one time annual fee. I called Steve Nash and the girl told me that I hadn’t paid for my September fee and that’s why I was charged in October, although it’s obvious I had. To anyone considering this gym, it’s not worth your time and money. As long as Steve Nash continues to mistreat me, this review will be up for others to see.

The new Manager Harsh has been very helpful with my concerns. He has taken them time to find appropriate solutions and the gym is very clean and staff are quite friendly! 10/10 would recommend.

Tough one to cancel even during the pandemic when the worry should be not getting people sick instead of old school sales tactics. Wanting you to go into the location to cancel is just so they get an extra shot at you not to cancel. You can buy cars, houses and everything else through docusign and other secure methods however you need to go to cancel. Stupid process
It's a good gym close by but sucks that their machines been down for 3days u pay so much for member ship and no one Carrys cash and I can't figure out a good chunk of the equipment when I signed up I wanted a 7 day pass but instead got signed up for a year.

Make sure to check the terms and conditions before you go here. Even if you move out, you can't terminate the contract. The contract is terminated only when you move to a place more than 30 kilometers away from Fitness World. They will only say no. The conclusion is that there is no way to terminate the contract. Pay for it a month!!!
This is a great gym. If you need to go to the gym for weight loss, or your on a journey to live a more healthy lifestyle come here! The staff truly care about you and your health and they will do what it takes to be your cheerleaders. I would say to anyone joining a gym to understand that you need to invest, know that the staff have worked hard to be certified and want what’s best for you, and sometimes as a person who doesn’t gym other than Rec centres we aren’t used to the price that comes with the accountability. It’s a lifestyle change and these guys will help you stay motivated and invest in your health

The AC does not work. I brought this up to the staff almost two months ago but nothing has been done to fix it. This machine has also been out of service for three months.
Charged my Visa after not being there since before the Pandemic and Change of owners in March. Spoke with "Manager" was a waste of time, stating there was nothing he could do. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. Cleanliness was a major issue at this facility before Covid-19, worse now. "PETRI DISH" STAY AWAY.

My experience with this gym has been outstanding from the very start! I'm new to fitness and I've historically been very intimidated by gyms, but the staff is super friendly and welcoming, and I LOVE the Women's Only section of the gym!!! Highly recommend <3
Great place to gym it up
Started going here when it first opened and it was great. Unfortunately it’s now overwhelming due to the large number of “avid bodybuilders” who think it’s necessary to scream and grunt loudly for every rep as well as strutting around posing in every mirror. Sadly the staff here don’t do anything about it and it’s progressively gotten worse to the point where I can hear it over my noise canceling headphones. Nothing against people who enjoying the body building sport but screaming and grunting for ever set is a little much.
I have been to few different gyms, I would say this gym has one of the highest standards when it is a difficult time to run any business. Kennedy in the morning is really friendly and helpful. I appreciate their effort in trying to keep this place open and safe for us! Great job!!

I am from Spain and I paid a lot of personal trainers back there, all of them were great, but when I moved to Canada I met Tony, this guy is the best personal trainer that i have ever had by far. He always help me to have a proper form on the exercises and keeps me motivated, but the most important part is that thanks for him I gained 10lb in 1 month and is really hard for me to gain weight. So if you are new on this and you are looking for a personal trainer, definitely ask for Tony in this gym, you won’t regret !

I just moved to Langley as the city is booming. There is a wide selection of great gyms in town. I did my due diligence of scouting every single gym. I found the equipment, pricing, & customer service here at Fitness World Langley to be top notch. A very welcoming environment. I believe the great experience was created by my first impression with their manager Harsh Thind. 10/10 will be recommending to family, friends & neighbours! Looking forward to continuing my fitness journey here.
I went to gym after a long time and to be honest i had worked out at the new steve nash gym in south surrey and I hated the langley gym. There are too many people and to many machine that are to close to other people. This reminded me of the commercial of a american gym that brags about being a normal gym. If you are not age of 16-29 I would not recommend this gym.
I will miss Fitness World now that they have gone belly up. I have been a corporate member since 1998 and I will miss the $17 gym dues

Working for a big company or organization can be a tough or scary thing. But not here at Fitness World. Beginning with the executive team, they pride themselves on doing what’s best for those in the gyms in every way possible. Of course, they know the satisfaction of the members is the top priority but that does not over shadow their respect to one’s they employed. The affection and care they give to their employees is something I have never really seen before. They genuinely care about how the workers feel and what each individuals needs are to be successful in their positions. All of that trickles down into the management team in the club. When I think about the team at Lougheed, I have nothing but great things to say. This team feels like home to me. The support that they have given me has allowed myself to develop into a better person than I could ever imagine. I’m excited for the future of this club and the company.

When I signed up with fitness world in September, I also signed up for a trainer. Unfortunately, when I signed up with my Personal Trainer for a 12 week bundle in the beginning of September there was a miscommunication and I was misled into thinking that the stated amount would come out of my account per month and not weekly. I recently figured out that the fitness world has been taking out that amount on a weekly basis, not including the gym fee. After waiting and finally getting in touch with them on 16th of October and finding out what was happening I asked them to cancel my PT bundle. The staff very rudely rejected my request of canceling the contract and said the most they can do is put my account on freeze. I was dismissed and told that I had missed the 10 day cancellation policy (which I was not told about until the day I tried to cancel) . Not being happy with the response I kept on asking for the general manger but the staff was not very helpful and refused to make an appointment for me. Instead, I was given a customer service email, whom I contacted on October 18, 2021, but I am yet to receive a response from them. After finally getting an appointment with the general manager, I explained my situation to him and asked to cancel but he insisted on me switching the plan but they have been taking forever to get back to me and are keeping me hanging to figure this out constantly. Meanwhile my case keeps on getting tossed to multiple managers. The general manager wasn’t taking any time to talk about this issue. I have emailed different managers at the lougheed location multiple times since October. After speaking to the fitness manager at my location recently, she said even though I signed the paperwork for the account freeze on 25th of October, it wasn’t put on freeze until the 30th of October. Now I have an overdue balance of $348.60 and I can’t access the gym (for which I am still paying for biweekly) until the overdue amount is paid in full. I also asked multiple times for the contact information of my branch manger’s manager but was told that they don’t work at club level and was shut up. I have been trying to reach the regional manager but I cannot find any contact for them. This whole situation has been mentally, emotionally, and financially draining for me. ONLY SIGNUP FOR THIS GYM IF YOU CAN DEAL WITH THIS KINDA SITUATION.

The gym, the equipment, the staff are amazing. Honestly the reason I quit going there is the washroom. It's always dirty and smells weird. Napkins everywhere on the floor. Weird brown and red stains on the toilet and on the floor. The toilets are old and half the time they dont even flush. Everytime I'm in the washroom I see someone else's business in the toilet. It ruins my drive to workout everytime. I dont understand what we pay the maintenance fee for. But honestly it ruined my experience after a while and wanted to switch. I hope the gym improves that because that was my only issue, but its such a bad issue that I have to give a 1.
Very well equipped gym in central location. There’s plenty of parking and it’s a accessible Via skytrain too. I’ve been working on my fitness goals with coach Chelsey and Trey. They are both extremely professional and motivating. I am happy to be a part of FW family :)
Best gym in town, hands down. You pay 100 enrollment, a 50 dollar annual, and 30 days notice to cancel. Has a womens only section, which is amazingly robust, a whole gym inside of a gym! Personal training is cheap too, only 50 bucks a session when you join, kind of a godsend when your looking to lose weight tbh

I had a prepaid membership at a Steve Nash location that closed, and the closest Fitness World is not convenient for me. Jamie took the time and effort to authorize and transfer a membership credit to my daughter. Thank you, Jamie!
Steve Nash pre-COVID was always decent enough. But their professional conduct and lack of specific information during their transition back to business in July 2020 was just awful. One week ago, the company announced that they’re “almost ready” to reopen, and on Thursday July 30, the company announced that some locations were reopening on Friday July 31. With new, and not-so-great plans. And billing would start as early as August 7. As customer service is still working through emails from members who have questions and concerns with this sudden announcement, this is not enough notice. At all. The company maintained incredibly poor communication during this time, and their lack of regard and respect for customers is awful. I’ve finally been able to cancel my account, and I can definitely say with complete confidence that I won’t ever be back at this gym. It was quite stressful going around in circles and scrambling to cancel my account at the last second, because that was the position the company had put myself and many others in. If you’re interested in or thinking of joining this gym, I’d recommend you avoid this place because of the lack of customer service from corporate.
Wondering why there were 3 people not wearing masks at all and 6 people with their masks pulled down under their chin when I attended this gym AFTER there was a public health order to wear masks in all indoor spaces? There is also a sign on the door saying you can take your mask off if you're 6 feet apart. Absolutely unacceptable.
New Nanaimo location is outstanding
I've been here for four months. When I first went to the gym, I had a hard time not knowing how fun it was to exercise, but since I met Tony!!, I've learned how fun it is to exercise and I can see that my body is getting better. I'm so lucky to see Tony and thank you so much to Tony????!
I joined Fitness World in August without any specific goals in mind except to just get moving again. Fortunately, Chelsey reached out and setup an assessment appointment with me. She quickly identified my issues with mobility, asked me hard questions about my habits, and we got started. I still train with Chelsey and I look forward to every session I have with her. She is professional, passionate, and is super excited to work with each of her clients. Overall, the gym is comfortable, clean, has covid measures in place and has a decent amount of equipment to get my workout in even during the gym's busier times.
This is my first time to go to gym in Vancouver and I found that GM is so helpful and kindly I would say this is the best place for working out!!!

Same company as before, the head fake to go FW didn't change a thing people. Stay away. Charged my MasterCard and it's funny, I don't recall signing an agreement or contract with the new company. Is that legal?
Absolutely LOVE this gym.. cleanliness is abit low for my liking and we need showers back asap but otherwise. Equipment is a+ and staff is a++!! I tried every gym in nanaimo and this one is the greatest value for the $ by FAR!!

Worst possible service you can imagine. Went in to cancel my membership, the count staff would rather talk on the phone rather than serve the customers in front of them. I thought the new management would be better but I was dead wrong. I would be surprised if the new owners last 12 months. Sadly there is no lower score than 1 star !!

I hired a trainer (Tony) and had a fabulous first session. Everyone at the gym has been helpful and friendly but Tony is awesome. He has a fabulous attitude and is happy to work hard to help me reach my goals. If you are looking to get strong - especially if you are a woman - then have a session with Tony and find the body you deserve!!!

I joined Fitness World in March with a specific purpose of finding a personal trainer who I could connect with. After a two year break from working out in a gym after an accident, I was nervous about how my body had changed. In my past experience, the personal trainers I have dealt with have been pushy and insensitive to my concerns, and made me feel as though I was working for them. While they appeared to "hear" me, it was clear that they checked out the minute I left the club. After a friendly and genuine greeting from the Front Desk (who have always been pleasant and helpful), I was connected with Chelsey, a personal trainer who seemed perfectly matched to help with my mobility concerns. Rather than try to get me signed up for a package within the first meeting, we sat and talked about goals and expectations. I was immediately impressed with how my needs and concerns were heard and implemented into our plan, and the genuine partnership that was formed. It is evident that my success and goals are also hers. This was the connection I had been looking for, and one I am happy to extend. With the recent pandemic, another concern of course, is safety. During my workouts, the managers are walking around to ensure that patrons are wearing their masks, and the machines have been spaced out to accommodate social distancing. Currently, I can say I feel safe with these methods put in place. The professionalism of the staff, quality of relationship and encouragement keep me at this location.

Wow I can’t believe all the hidden fees! Trying to cancel this membership is nothing short of a nightmare, when I asked to speak with the manager I was told they wouldn’t say anything different then the front house staff. I’m not impressed at all
I'd like to go for cycling group class in this gym, very professional staff. Julie is my favorite instructor there. She is very helpful and I am enjoying during the class, she always has something new as a music or movement that keep motivate you to come to class.
Not very crowded, provides adequate cleaning supply. Most people would clean the equipments before and after they use, but some don't.

Best gym in Nanaimo! The recent change in management has had a significant impact on the environment. The facility is clean and has great equipment. Emma at the front desk is awesome! She is super kind and very knowledgeable. Make sure to ask her about the group classes and personal training. Don't be afraid to sign up - we all started somewhere and I'd highly recommend this gym.

I came to work for Fitness World from a different gym for several reasons: 1- The personal training team supports our members with their fitness and we get to change lives every day 2- The GM here at the Lougheed location is the best leader to his team and demonstrates exceptional costumer service to the members at the gym 3- The Company culture- our work environment is fun- we get to work with people who are passionate about fitness and have a great time helping people out with navigating their own personal fitness too

Network never works, so you can never sign in when using cardio machines (more annoying than anything). I keep seeing the trainers working with people, but not correcting form (so if you're not looking for tips or anything, it's fine). Staff always give conflicting information when I ask about programs, and they don't enforce the cardio machine limit when it's busy... Wish I'd waited to sign up for the year. Pretty disappointed, overall. At least it's clean and has a variety of machines and space.
Very shady business, when I signed up was told I would not be on contract, but was, without properly being explained, put on a year term. Had multiple friends/family/acquaintances have similar complaints. Will call your emergency contacts to sell a membership to.

I called in to inquire about membership prices. Spoke to the sales manager and he wouldn't give pricing over the phone, I understand they want you to come in so they have a better chance of signing you up and they have their methods of conducting business however I explained I am comparing gyms and simply wanted to know what the one year pricing was. He kept trying to get me to come in for a workout, I got fed up and he subsequently lost a customer. I can understand why this location has such bad reviews now. I work in the car industry myself, if someone called in saying they're comparing a car I have on my lot vs another dealership and he wanted to simply know the price; I wouldn't say come in and take it for a test drive and then I'll let you know the price! Anyone will lose more customers than they gain if they apply that sales technique.

As much as I enjoy working out on my own I checked out the Dance Fever class with Angela Alvarez, and oh my god is it amazing. She not only gives you a killer workout, but makes it fun! Not to mention the fact that it’s such a positive environment. 10/10 would recommend people checking her out.
High end equipment in a high end facility. There isn't a nicer looking, better equipped gym in Nanaimo. It has a fantastic women's only area too which is great. Various membership rates starting at 15$ a month. I prefer this gym over any other option in Nanaimo because of its superior facilities and equipment and its clientele are generally better (you know what I mean) than other, marginally cheaper gyms. Yes its a new company that is actively restructuring and dealing with the struggles with Covid like literally everywhere. They DO have cleaning protocols in place and appropriate rules for members. As someone conscious of this I am satisfied with the level at which they are enforcing the sanitization standard.
Fair price. No line ups. No time limit. Need I say more?
Their fee is more than double from what they explain in the beginning. If they say the fee is 200, prepare to pay 500.
New equipment is great
I just started to get back into the habit of exercising after gaining the extra quarantine weight. So I decided to take the plunge and get a personal trainer (Tony). Now I consider myself a beginner when it comes to training, so you could imagine It was quite intimidating stepping into the gym. However, after my first training session with Tony, I felt less insecure about myself and more motivated to train harder. Tony started with a thorough assessment and pointed out my imbalances. After the assessment, he took me through a workout that was easy to follow and explained the reason for each exercise that we did. Also, when I didn’t feel comfortable doing an exercise he would choose something that was similar and worked for me. I learned a lot about myself in terms of where I stand fitness wise and have a clearer idea of what to work towards in the future. Overall, very satisfied and look forward to my next session. I knew I would regret signing another bs corporate gym contract and I was right. Never ever give companies like this your credit card or personal info. You never win - you either pay them the bs amount they don't deserve or it gets sent to collections.
Parking is always a pain but everything else is good.
Too crowded, pushy people, not an ideal environment at least in my opinion but if you take that all out they have nice equipment
This is a great gym, all the staff and trainers are super friendly. Ive had a great time there building muscles... and friends. something that is so great about this church of iron is that there are so many options for squat racks plus 2 olympic platforms. this place is awesome and I feel like I never need to compromise my workout's by lack of machines. W gym, W people plus its right by a popeye's so you can get big and get your sups. PS the member Jeff is a great guy who is awesome to talk to

I have been a member for years, there used to be a punching bag in the middle of the gym which helped lots of people including myself to have a better workout, even though the other locations have at least 3-4 punching bags, now they even removed that one punching bag. It is really important for people to punch sometimes.
Easy going / friendly staff, large gym, great equipment. Jacob Stebbings is a great personal trainer for general fitness tips, targeting problem areas and training for athletes. I am an athlete myself and Jacob provided me with the proper tools to get back in to my training program with confidence. Jacob is going to push you to your limits and will challenge you in ways you have not challenged yourself before. All around great trainer.

I have been a member at this location for a few years and have always had a good experience. Unlike other clubs, I really appreciate the fact that members do not have to book work out sessions in one hour increments during these times. I have done many personal training sessions here and I would highly recommend going down that route if you are looking for a challenge!
Shady gym sales tactics must be abolished. Look through the reviews, you will find countless others complaining about the same thing.
I'm a gym newbie. It seems like most of the complaints here are from people who dont want to take accountability for the fact they signed a contract they didnt read. The gym is great, mask enforcement is good, its kept clean; and the prices for membership are competitive. Would rather go here than Planet Fitness or Fit 4 Less, theres no alarm if you accidentally drop your weights or let out a grunt, and you dont have to be reminded your your saving money as incentive to keep healthy.
Such a well maintained and clean facility! Harsh Thind was a pleasure to deal with, very knowledgeable and eased my concerns about trying a new facility. The staff was very approachable and very professional. Definitely recommend dropping in and checking it out! Got myself a membership and will continue my fitness journey at langley fitness world!
Good variety of work out equipment. Follows covid protocols. Except that Masks can be taken off while working out.
