I had tried several gyms before, but always found myself falling into the same workout routines...sticking with exercises that I was good at and never really pushing myself. Plus, going to the gym always involved putting on headphones and listening to my iPod without ever really interacting with anyone else at the gym. So I decided to give CrossFit a try.
I had tried a few different CrossFit gyms (each one offers a free first class) before signing up at this location. The people just seemed friendlier...and I don't just mean the staff. One of the great things I have found at CrossFit is that there is a real sense of community. People interact and talk with each other before and after each workout. Each day's workout is different, so you never get stuck in a routine. And, while some of the exercises are ridiculously tough, they can all be scaled for people at different levels of fitness.
What really makes this location so great, though, are the people who work at the gym, and the people who attend the classes. While there are some people who are competitive with other people during a workout, I have yet to meet anyone who isn't supportive of everyone else. People are always there to try to push you to go further, but are also there to talk if you ever get frustrated or discouraged. And the trainers seem to genuinely care about the people who work out here and don't just treat them as people to be trained.
I would recommend this location to just about anyone. If you're in great shape and looking for a challenge, if you're in horrible shape and want to live a healthier lifestyle, or if you're somewhere inbetween and want to start exercising with friendly, fun people, then this would be a great place to start.
