Great atmosphere, lots of equipment and friendly staff
Fantastic gym- great service ????????
24/7 gym, if you're a weightlifter, powerlifter, bodybuilder or even crossfitter this place has everything you need ????????????
Amazing powerlifting gym with a fantastic community of lifters.
Excellent place for anyone looking for a friendly atmosphere. Primarily free weights here. This is known to be a powerlifting gym. However you will find machine and cardio equipment as well. I’ve never personally attended a class but i know they offer boxing/kickboxing. A member ship gives you access to the grttrude location as well as a larger King Edward location.
Visited this gym for a drop-in while traveling. Has a ton of equipment, Olympic lifting platforms, squat racks, heavy bags. Seems to try to accommodate a variety of athletes. I compete in strongman so my review will focus on that. I’m going to provide some feedback specific to that as well but keep in mind that this gym is equipped for strongman better than 95% of gyms in Western Canada. Strongman equipment/implements available: - logs - axel bar - farmers handles - yoke - loadable hussafel - light sand bags - kegs up to 180lb - light stones with stone platforms - tire - it’s there but it’s so small that it’s not even useful for strongman. Overall, great gym for someone wanting to start out in strongman. For amateur competitors that are starting to get more serious about the sport, you’ll have to start bringing in your own equipment like heavier sand bags, kegs, stones. Also, not a ton of space to do carries and stuff like that so you might have to get creative when doing conditioning or preparing for long runs for competition. Bonus equipment they have: - cable squat - looked like unilateral leg press
Bad customer service from the beginning when I called to ask if I could come in to check the place and the answer was no but instead I can look to the website for the pictures of the place so I did. The few pictures that anyone can see in the website doesn't even reflect what you can see in real. The places is dirty, smells bad, the equipment is very old and also some doesn't even work. Air conditioning doesn't work properly either and it is just occupying space all over the floor, I think this place looks forward to don't spend any amount of money but still charges full price for such a poor service. Don't expect anything from this place!
Brickhouse is a great example of a local business doing it right. Great atmosphere, they listen to their members, give back to the community, and of course have solid equipment. The staff at King Edward are fantastic, and Paul is an absolute superstar!
I’ve been a member for a few months now and definitely plan to stay. Nice and small community feel! I haven’t tried classes yet but they offer several kinds after work hours.
Great place, good owner!
Definitely recommend Megan as a trainer! She's great and really comfortable to work with. You also learn a lot because she answered questions with depth. Our barbell class is ending soon, but will likely stay with Brickhouse because of her.
Went for a drop-in. The facility is awkwardly shaped. Really long and narrow. More geared towards power lifting. But it has variety of equipments and machines including Jacob's ladder, a standing punching bag with all the target areas, and a vibrating massage machine(?)
24 hour gym!
Unethical business practices - I cancelled my membership in 2019. There was a period between October 2019 and August 2020 where there were no transactions. Then without my knowledge the transactions turned on again. 11 transactions and $540 of charges on my bank statements later and I realize I have been paying for a membership I didn't sign up for. Because I don't have a copy of the paper cancellation policy I signed in 2019 there is nothing Brickhouse can do. 0 out of 10 I would not recommend to my family or friends.
Nice place to workout with a great system to ensure covid precautions are followed. Friendly staff and great environment. I recommend it to achieve your fitness goals
Great mix of equipment for general gym and powerlifting, weightlifting, and strongman. Staff is friendly and the trainers are knowledgeable - definitely a top local gym.
Hidden gem. Great gym for both serious lifters and casuals. Love the very inclusive atmosphere.
Best gym in Winnipeg.
One of the best gyms in town , variety of equipment and weights and overall great atmosphere with knowledgeable and friendly staff and personal trainers
Best gym in the city as far as I'm concerned. Tons of equipment for powerlifting and a good assortment of strongman implements. Lots of squat racks, deadlift pads and benchs. Great community. If you want somewhere to take it to the next level, this is the place. I think the dumbbell area could be improved and better organized but that's an issue with every gym. Could also do away with the machines but that's a personal opinion. All in all, great gym.
Great boxing gym with great atmosphere. Very helpful staff with even other members willing to help.
By far the best experience I've ever had at a gym, I would not consider switching.
Great place. Loved it.
communication was awful. tried to cancel membership, staff member said it was done. then they kept billing me. Employee at the time said all was good and cancellation went through, but they have no 'record' of this apparently and keep saying 'we do not accept cancellations over the phone' and are refusing to give money back
Lots of toys for strong boys! Adding to this review, as Brickhouse has acquired the second half of the building to the right, and are in the works to expand the gym to double it's size!
Great place for the groupon price.
Solid gym with a great atmosphere and good equipment.
A very nice gym. Perhaps a little lacking in certain equipment or rough around the edges but a very nice gym. I enjoy powerlifting, and Brickhouse has the perfect environment for that sort of thing and I was told there was more equipment at their other location which I will probably check out. I wouldn't say this is a good place for things like yoga, etc, like another place like goodlife or snap might be but that doesn't really seem to be the air they are going for there. However, if you would like to, all are welcome there.
No frills gym. Really enjoy it. Not too busy, great staff
It's supposed to be the powerlifting gym of winnipeg but it's just full of people sitting on the floor and hanging out while you try to lift on the platform beside them (even to the point were they start to sit on your platform because then 6 people sitting and talking on there's wasn't enough space). I tired the brickhouse to have a stong powerlifting atmosphere and instead felt like I was in a snap fitness with better equipment.
Friendly staff and plenty of equipment to go around.
Great and authentic place. Everyone is friendly and nobody takes themselves too seriously. If you're sick of gym bros this is the place for you.
Brickhouse 24/7 is NOTHING like any other gym. Hands down best gym I'm ever walked into. At brickhouse, they make you feel like family and they encourage you to push yourself to absolute failure, so that mean dropping weights and making whatever noise u need. I will never attend another gym.
Love the atmosphere. If I lived in Winnipeg I would train here full time
Nice gear and clean. Would recommend to those looking for a decent place to lift.
have worked out here a few times, very clean plus has lots of machines/weights and outdoor space too. Looking forward to the new side of the facility!
Best gym ever, everyone is so friendly, great atmosphere. Perfect place to work out. Best boot camps I’ve ever done
Started coming for the Groupon price. Stayed for the environment. Was initially with Goodlife. Tried snap downtown. (Unfortunately they're a disaster now) Now currently here and sadly just cancelled my membership. Have a corporate rate with GoodLife through work so heading back to them to save some money for the time being. Will be back shortly for sure. It's nice to have a gym with the glam, lockers, sauna and showers even spray tan and massage if need be at Goodlife. Brickhouse is not that. You will get strong here. You will meet strong people here. Both physically and mentally. I bought the Groupon so I had both memberships for 3 months. In that time went to GoodLife 3 times. The rest of the time I was at brickhouse. like to do kickboxing every now and then so it's nice to have bags and even a boxmaster at this location, which is awesome. I think they offer boxing classes and even sparring on certain days though I've never attended. Definitely a powerlifter gym though. If you get spooked or annoyed by lifters going to failure and dropping the weights on the platform or that it's a bit dirty and there's chalk everywhere. This isn't the place for you. 24/7 which means if your in a pinch and need to get that workout in, it's always open. With it being 24/7 it's never extremely busy except maybe the odd day around primetime which is around 5-7ish.
The great thing about Brickhouse gym is they have that old school gym feeling but with modern equipment and a ton of variety of machines. The owner Paul is passionate about training and leads by example in his lifestyle. Hr keeps the gym fresh but at the same time it has that REAL I'm here to workout feeling. Not just chat and text on my phone while tying up equipment and keeping people waiting. Even when busy you can still move smoothly from station to station to get your workout done. The trainers are helpful and knowledgeable. The partnerships in the community are valuable as well. He supports local and only partners with those businesses that are complimentary to fitness and healthier living. Great vibe, good energy and serious results.
Went to my first class today after a few years of not working out. My Brother-In-Law convinced me to go boxing with him and boy oh boy let me tell you, THAT is what I call a workout. JT kicked our butts, got us motivated and positive, and got us feeling good. 10/10, I am definitely coming back here.
This gym is the worst one in Winnipeg, do not recommend it at all! During this time of COVID it is really dirty so I can't imagine how it was before. The place, the floor and the machines are old and careless. On top of this, some machines does not work, there are papers all over or machines crossed out with tape. Customer service is extremely poor, blond lady in the front desk is always speaking on her cellphone giving zero attention to the customers. Water disinfectant smells really bad and, finally, bathroom is also dirty.
Organized, clean, functional, and spacious.
The gym is very unkept and has old equipment. Paul is not incredibly organized and takes forever to respond to emails and calls. There are better gyms in the city.
Awesome atmosphere! Friendly staff!
Rose Jowsey Today at 6:21am Since when do they charge for the key card every month??? Instead of $47.50 withdrawn as promised and expected...$67.50 was drawn yet again...causing an NSF of $45 from RBC and if they think they're going to charge me $100 NSF penalty from THEIR side as it says in their contract...I think not. PLUS I find out that they have corporate rates of which I was not offered, and I work for Manitoba Hydro. I will be in their office today to get my undeserved RBC NSF of $45 BACK plus they had better not try to charge me their own NSF of $100 for THEIR screw up. This is totally unacceptable and will not be tolerated. Not impressed in the least. Time to hire some professional bookkeepers boys. YOUR accounting incompetence is harming my credit rating... I can join pretty much any gym for the price they are charging...ones with ALL equipment that is functional or at least another machine that offers the same exercise, plus pools, hot tubs and saunas no less. With a machine with an "OUT OF ORDER" sign on it, of which I really want in my work out program, but every time I inquire about it I keep getting the answer...we'll have that fixed next week...that hasn't happened either. OR I keep getting the excuse of "Well you know they're really busy opening up the new gym" Absolutely unacceptable. At this moment I wouldn't even give them half a star. See you during office hours. Be prepared...I will be coming in with guns a blazing. Metaphorically speaking of course. But certainly be prepared for a verbal barrage!!! And be ready to cough up the money YOU OWE ME!!! NOBODY is allowed to screw with my credit rating except ME. For all new or potential clients, pay very close attention to what's withdrawn from your account monthly. Plus if you want to quit this gym, they will still charge you for an extra 2 months!!! What is that all about??? Edge of legal. You got some very positive publicity from Wheeler in the Morning show, which is what drew me in, if this is not rectified to my satisfaction, be prepared for some very negative publicity in the media. Candidate for BBB???? I think not. News flash, BrickHouse will not rectify the NSF they have caused due to THEIR error!!!!! Heads up folks, this "business" has absolutely no integrity and does not take one iota of responsibility for their shoddy business acumen. Fitness instructors...maybe. Businessmen...absolutely not. Also, I am certainly not a "wheel spinner" I am a power lifter recovering from multiple knee surgeries trying to get back to the rock solid being I used to be. I personally dislike the girlie gyms out there with a passion.
Good place for serious lifting. More of a powerlifting gym than for aesthetic reasons. Boxing equipment, lots of treadmills. Has a grungy feel that I appreciate. I didn't give it 5 stars because I need a sauna. I'm a princess.
Really enjoyed this gym good staff and great equipment
Best gym in winnipeg
No frills, pure training :)
Great place to work out. Friendly and knowledgeable staff.
I loved this gym based on convenience, price, and equipment available. I give it three stars since I gave up my membership because it was so filthy every time I went. Dirt, gravel and dust everywhere, and horrible gym etiquette when it comes to wiping down equipment after use. Bathrooms were often dirty as well. The facility I went to only had one shower and I could not bring myself to use it because of how grimy and gross it was.
Simple, no frills gym. It's not the prettiest but it's effective. Lots of weights, lots of racks, and plenty of cardio equipment.
Very well fun
Time to sweat
Excellent facility with multiple squat racks and punching bags, great place for strength training and provides 24 hour access. When I moved away from Winnipeg the staff was understanding and courteous with cancelling my membership.
Everyone reracks. Enough said ????
Brickouse is in my opinion the true definition of how a gym should be. It has pretty much every equipment you need whatever you are into fitness, crossfit or strongman training. Place is kept clean (for a gym), schedule is well organized, staff are competent and friendly. Yes some weights and machine maybe are on the old side but 100% functional and thats what really matters. I highly recommend this place if you dont mind weight drop noises and some slight grunting, parts of the gym life. Hands down to the owner. See you maybe there, no pain no gain.
All covid precautions are in place, everyones friends, equipment is decent
Just started a membership here and it's a very cheap cost per month, which is great. Small(ish) gym but has everything you need to get in shape.
Great gym for people looking to get serious about working out.
Awesome place to work out!
Great gym. Has a little bit of everything, not overly busy at any particular time
Never answer
Great gym, great atmosphere. They take appropriate COVID-19 precautions.
Great place to workout, build strength and stay motivated. Classes are great and re staff is great and friendly!
Half the equipment is either broken, missing bolts, loose bolts, very poorly maintained and unsafe. The front entrance is also always dirty, cant even take off outdoor footwear without getting your socks soaked/filthy.
Its second time i subscribe its very good gym clean and have necessary machines. its expensive comparing to other gyms that has pool and sauna. staff not so friendly but they do their job properly.
Best gym in Winnipeg. Friendly staff and a great community feel amongst the members. Every piece of equipment needed for proper training. Love this place.
Very dirty everything and old! do not recommend!
Uncomfortable environment. Owner constantly stares at me for some reason. Gym usually consists of six shirtless guys standing around one shirtless guy as he benches or squats while they all scream "GOO GOO GOOOO!!!!"
Best gym on the city!
Favorite place to sweat. Awesome staff. 24 hour access.
I was really excited about the prospect of joining this gym after recently moving to Winnipeg as it looks like a serious weightlifting gym. The website says the monthly rate is $45. The website also says the following: "Whether you’re here for a day or committed to years, we’ve got exactly what you need". I dropped by the Gertrude St. location and explained that I was new to the area and the city and wanted to sign up for one month. The employee I spoke to said there was no one month rate available and that I would have to sign up for three months. She was very unfriendly and cold. It surprises me that any business would be so unwelcoming to a newcomer. There is just no way I was willing to consider dropping 3 months on the spot, given that the employee did not even offer a tour or make any sort of welcoming gesture. My sense is that they do not want outsiders and are looking to build an exclusive gym for regulars who are committed long-term, despite what their website says. Their website also says they offer daily passes for $10, but the employee did not even mention this. It was a complete waste of my time. I wanted to leave this review for anyone new who can be spared an unfriendly encounter at this business. Unless you are willing to sign up for a long-term commitment without even trying out the gym first, don't go there.
Very good
I disclosed my medical history of having Klinefelter syndrome to a female staff member on April08/2021 after my work out and paid $100.00 to have a solo program designed for me that was advertised in front of the King Edward location. This morning when I check my emails I received a email from Laure Fulham the general manager stating my membership was revoked. I tried talking to her in her office at the Osborne location and her comments to me is 2 female staff made complaints about me, about my medical history that I disclosed to have a solo program made for me. I had 2-24 hour key cards that she could not be refunded to my back account. I am worried that if other people about people disclosing your medical history to the staff members that “PEOPLE” will be “MEDICALLY PROFILED and have there right violated! I was told by Laura the general manager that my MONEY I paid out for SOLO training program and my gym membership WOULD be RETURNED to my bank account! NOTHING HAS BEEN REFUNDED! This company is doing fraudulent behaviours! Please note when you read google reviews on the Brickhouse. That the Brickhouse gym is paying staff members to right reviews! NO Manager or Owner has responded back about returning me any money!
Great neighbourhood gym!
great place, not too crowded
Messier then other gyms I've seen...but it's definitely a place if you like to lift a lot of weight
Brickhouse is an amazing gym, great atmosphere, great staff, all around good time. Brickhouse is my home away from home. If you are serious about working out then it is the place for you. Great for powerifters, strongman, bodybuilding, and everything in between. I would give it a 6 out of 5 if I could
Very nice
Really good gym! Wonderful for anyone looking for a no-frills, grungy, minimal machine (while they still offer quite a few) gym! It's no GoodLife but that's what I was looking for! Super quiet in the morning and the staff are so friendly! I go to the Gertrude location and it's a wonderful option for anyone living in the Village for a gym.
Love this gym!
