If they had parking available and ensured vehicles were not double parked/ they plowed all of the "access parking" (eg parents with young children and drop off spot) I'd give them a 4. And for 5 stars they would have to put some sort of heat in the changerooms as they are freezing

I would say this place has gotten even better since a couple years ago. They added free wifi and the food is even better. It was good before too just saying. I don't think it will ever hit 5 stars due to the fact of their vip change rooms. They aren't very special and I have been to probably 15 different YMCA around Ontario. Pretty basic for a big fee. Check out Sudbury vip change facilities. Super plush and worth the money.

I really enjoyed the swimming facilities here. The lap pool is quite cool but so completely refreshing after using the HOT tub. The jets in the hot tub are very strong and a couple hours in there loosens me up wonderfully. The therapy pool is also very warm. Great on so many of these -20° days. What I love most is the pool area is drop in any time, stay as long as you need. This is such a great quality. The sun gets in there pretty good too. I used to go to the welness centre but the pool schedule is so constricted. I need more then an hour or two in the pool. So I opt for the YMCA now. It's very clean. There is all ages change room that is standard with membership.. They do offer a 16+ change area, Which would be ideal for me, as I have no kids. But it comes at an extra fee. So that's a pit fall.

The Y in Peterborough is GREAT and affordable. There is a good variety of programs for all ages and instructors to suit everyone. You have to try a few instructors out to get the one that works for you.....the schedule works well too. For a small facility I think the staff has done a good job of appealing to a broad market from families to older folks and everyone in between. PLUS the small food bar is run by a talented chef who cooks fresh healthy food every day (but Sunday). I love the Y and have made many friends over the years since i first joined. Keep up the good work.

Pretty good facility. We have only used the pool so far and we like it. My infant and I go there for a little splash just to get out of the house this winter. Lovely pool, the water is so nice and warm. But as soon as we get to the change room, it gets cold and baby screams. Lol. But my infant 's membership is reasonably priced.

I think that the YMCA is set up very well, and the prices are very reasonable. The pools are probably the best part of it. As well as the gym. Me and friends love Youth Night and go almost every week! Keep up the good work YMCA staff!!

Staff is typically friendly, and the property is fairly well kept. The programs are diverse, but not well lead - at least for the children's programming. It's staffed by teens who don't know anything about what they're teaching, so they don't necessarily care much about the outcome or if your toddler actually learns the fundamentals of gymnastic/dance/swimming that you're bringing them there to learn. It's all sort of fine. But when you consider the amount you're paying for that kind of lacklustre effort, it's not worth it.

It’s terrible seeing the YMCA campers in the park fully masked! This is child abuse and NOT rooted in science. Kids should not be asked to mask at all, let alone in an outdoor setting! Such a shame.

Always clean, and despite initial view of many cars in the parking lot, there is always lots of room to exercise, or do specialty programs or have equipment available in the Fitness Centre. The frontline staff and managers are very personable. Very happy being a member for 20yrs now. Ran the Half a Half run in February 2016 with some 1st time colleagues. Their feeling was the same. The staff made it a well organized race, with a "small-town-family-run" feel to it.

Just the best!! Its the best place. I love it for the kids to do sports, swim, the daycare while I workout. Indoor climbing. We go here almost everyday. I am so thankful for the YMCA and their amazing staff!!

What a stupid set up. I can't even join without a credit card. Can't even use debit visa, cash or void check.The Y needs to get it together. Even an online set up would be good. 21st century people. Get your stuff together. It's pathetic the way you run your business. So many bad reviews of the place too. Probably better off getting a membership from Wellness Center. Just didn't want to have to go out of my way, but heard that it's actually better there anyway. So you just lost a paying customer.

I absolutely love this place its always very clean in the changing rooms and the pools and hot tub are great. I've seen one of the life guards checking the pools while we were there to make sure all the levels were okay.

Wanna go For a rip bud

Please stop closing city streets to local business for a marathon . Roads are for cars . Why not run on our beautifull trails elsewhere . A lot of businesses were affected and many expressed this concern to us . Many rail trails to use .

This is one of my absolute favourite places to go the gym here is amazing I go there every day and whenever it's to hot you can always take a dip in the pool they also have racquet ball, basketball, and squash courts. This place is definitely worth the membership fees!!!

I left the YMCA because the classes are poor quality. Some of the instructors are more into talking about themselves than they are running a class. Most of the instructors are volunteers, and thus the quality of instruction is poor. They almost never start or end a class on time. There was no bootcamp or strength training classes offered in the early morning or in the evening (the only class was offered once a week at noon hour). Most of the members there are seniors, children (with their parents), and people with disabilities. This is not a gym for adults looking for high intensity workouts or to meet fellow fitness buffs. It seems to be more of a recreational club/centre.

+ A very welcoming gym. As a femme person, gyms can sometimes feel intimidating but this one is not. The staff are very friendly, helpful, and welcoming to all people. +/- They have a wide range of cardio equipment in an air-conditioned environment, as well as a solid selection of resistance equipment; you won't find any specialized gear here however. + There are trainers that you can hire to walk you through how to use the equipment, or to meet on a regular basis for one-to-one training. - The swimming pool here is standard fare. Keep in mind that there are droves of children who use those waters, and I've gotten sick shortly after using the pool multiple times despite the chlorine. +/- They have a cafe in the space which is very convenient, but the hours are limited and you won't get access unless you're there inna weekday during standard business hours (not helpful for those of us who use the gym early morning or after work). + + They have a wide variety of classes that are accessible and welcoming to those who have a standard membership. I love how the energy of the gym is not elitist as many others, but a place to improve one's health in a supportive space.

We had to get out of the warm pool because a child got sick and puked outside of the pool. Had to leave after being there 35 minutes with no refund. As I paid full price for my son and I. Very disappointed.

The YMCA at 123 Elmer Street is a great facility for family and anyone who wants to take care of themselves. They have great instructors. If you go in the pool they have great aquafit instructors. Wonderful classes. I have been a member of different YMCAs since 1952. Thank you very very
