Best gym in Kamloops
Best gym ever
Very clean and friendly to all levels of lifters. Lots of space and the machines are in good condition. Great spot to workout -Melanie Wintjes Real Estate
The lady working front desk is rude
Big gym. Even when it's busy, you can still get your work done. Not a lot of posers. Solid place.
Great place just wish it opened earlier
Always cool with A/C and plenty of cardio machines for everyone. Nicely labeled machines with how to properly use them and great people working there to show you in case you don't know.
I had high hopes for this gym given the name and reputation from the States and visiting other locations. I`ll just post a couple pro`s and con`s for you people considering it: Pros: -Decent hours - at least for Kamloops (where everything closes early) -Heavy Dumbells 120 lbs I think -Decent machines (hammer strength) -2 Squat racks, although often used by people who don`t do squats.... -Decent month rate with a max 1 year commitment -Not over crowded, but maybe thats a bad thing..... Cons: -Darker a a bigger mood killer than the dungeon type gyms usually in basements - has had burnt out bulbs (hi bay lighting) for the last 8 months hmm....... -Gym buys $10,000 fat making machining because the ``people` picked it, yet doesn`t have enough $100 barbells in the main gym for all benches and squat racks -Music is often quiet and from the 70`s which makes want a nap -Gym is cluttered with machines, hard to move around between them -The classic heart rate monitors on their machines don`t work or widely inaccurate -Does a yearly purchase of new equipment usually very expensive gadgets and no consideration of say... a third squat rack, more barbells I`ve made a few suggestions - gone unconsidered I guess. My interpretation is that this place is `just there` and not looking to stand out and go above and beyond. *********************Update May 2015 *********************** it has taken awhile, but they club has invested in changing the lighting and WHAT A DIFFERENCE! can't wait until its done! now hopefully they can start cranking up the music and playing modern music rather than painfully mellow music from their daytime members ;)
My wife has been a member for 6 years and while they have a well kept gym, their accounting department could use some improving. They have billed her twice a couple times and are very disorganized with their billing.
Machines are like 2 feet apart. It is not fun to work out with someone a foot away from you sweating like a rapist. The shower smells like some vagrant never bathed for 25 years and took their first shower at the gym before I got in there. Staff is rude, arrogant, and is only concerned with taking your money. Do yourself a favor and use the Pokemon Go app for your workout routine instead of setting foot in this place!
Best equipment in town
Best gym in Kamloops. The women's side is the best one I've ever been to, has basically everything you need, rarely have to go to the co-ed side. Very reasonably priced if you commit to a year.
Awesome Gym, great atmosphere. Highly Recommend!
(Translated) excellent (Original) ممتاز
Hands down the best facility in town and the price is really good too! The pretty much have any equipment you could possibly want or need. The staff is really friendly and accommodating. Depending on what time you go, it can be pretty busy. So scope it out a bit if you dont like working out around a lot of people. But I have never felt uncomfortable working out here :)
One of the best gyms in town if you want access to freeweights and heavier lifts. Follows covid protocol and is very clean. Also, its not overly crowded so you can usually get what you want.
????♂️ does not deserve a review
One of the best place to go for gym. This place is always clean, has a great customer service. One thing I love about this place is that it has specific woman section.
They continued to charge me after I had to move to a city that did not have a Golds Gym. Despite sending proof of address and reasons for moving, the remaining months of my contract were still charged and sent to a collections agency. Attempts to resolve were ignored by the manager.
Great gym but the drop in rate is too high
Feel conjusted otherwise a good place
Great workout place
Seems nice. Is it for men as well or only ladies
good equipment. friendly staff. but missing a star because how crowded it's getting. almost seems they need a cap on members.
Always good 10/10
Good gym, but personal trainers are bullies.
How they sell their memberships at the front desk is totally different to what their contracts read! Do not sign their contract without reading all of the small print!
Great place to go for sure! I go everyday and have never had a problem all the staff is awesome other than the owners daughter can be a little rude sometime but other than that great high quality equipment, not usually too busy and there great with there covid protocol
Best place to workout in Kamloops.
Its an investment
Denied me access and told me to leave because i wasn't a local. Typical gold's gym cliquey attitude.
Newer equipment and easy to use. Staff is always willing and ready to help you with a question or issues.
-Machines are too close together and frequently broken -Gym is always hot and stuffy, even in winter -Freeweight area is too small and nearly impossible to find space to workout during busy hours. There isn't enough barbells. If you want to use barbells and dumbells - this is not the gym for you. -Changeroom is filthy -Far more expensive than other gyms in the same area -During peak hours it is almost impossible to get a workout in because the gym is packed full of teams of kids hogging the most popular gym spots. Other better options in the same part of town: Snap Fitness The City Aquatic Center Anytime Fitness Only work out here if you are desperate
terrible music you can barely hear. Broken equipment and a bunch of useless machines. Hardly any natural lighting. All women staff who don't really know their way around a gym. Overall one of the worst golds gyms you'll go to, poorly ran.
Energizing power class, the best!
Best gym in town
Full facility gym. Excellent variety of equipment and an excellent choice for people looking for a "bodybuilder" gym. Staff was friendly and people were polite. I'll be going back.
Great Gym in Kamloops.
Turned down for a free day pass because I'm not a resident. 99% of people would have let it fly. Not at this gym.
Clean, well maintained gym with nice equipment and a variety of stuff. Lots of parking.
I love it! The staff is great. I like the separate ladies area, i can get my workout done without any distractions. Gym is quite large even when it's busy you will find your own space.
I would avoid this gym if possible. Some things to note: - The gym has two sides. One for women, one for everybody. This means a good portion of the gym is not usable by anybody who has the wrong genitalia, yet the women can come over (if they choose) and use the other side, but you cannot use their side. Gender based sides to the gym is a horrible out of date idea because it limits the overall size of the gym for 70% of the members. - If you are a woman, this isn't a bad gym to go to because their side generally isn't going to be that busy, plus they can come over to the other side and workout/show off if they want to, which many do. - If you are a man, it sucks because the machines are all close together and 90% of the day the gym is overcrowded so you wont be getting a workout in. The free weight area is too small; the entire gym is too small, for the amount of traffic. There is a very small window throughout the day where you might get lucky for the gym to be quiet enough to workout in. Some traffic is fine, but when it screws up your entire workout it's not good. - The staff are ALL females, most of whom are not exactly in shape looking that have a "don't have time for you, give me money" type attitude. The gym clearly hires based on gender-bias considering there is not one male working here. - The gym is contract based, which means unless you sign up at a lucky time (e.g no contract membership might be offered once or twice a year) you will be stuck paying for this gym until your contract expires. Think about this, because you will be stuck paying for the membership for an entire year. - They still charge you even after you cancel/contract expires due to paperwork screw ups/or because they do it on purpose and hope you don't notice. This happens to a lot of people here when they go to cancel. - Gym has some stupid rules, like everybody requiring a face towel. - If your membership fee doesn't go through (say your credit card expires and you forget to tell them, or they don't update the payment properly) you will be charged a large fee for the bounce (like 20+$) that you will have to pay. Overall the gym is simply too crowded to workout in, has gender bias hiring for staff, the staff that do get hired know practically nothing about fitness or clearly dont bother with fitness (due to how they look) don't even attempt to give proper customer service and wants you to sign your name to a contract in a gym that has no cap on members, charges you even after your contract expires, Advice for improvements - Do away with the "women only side" mentality and expand the gym for everybody, there is no reason people cannot workout together regardless of gender. More space for everybody. The gym is too small otherwise, or restrict it so women can only workout on one side, and men on the other if you want to be fair. Having one side dedicated to one gender that can openly walk to the other side but not vice versa shows sexism and is stupid concept. - Space the machines better - Hire both genders - Enforce a cap on the amount of members to keep people happy - Get rid of the contracts, or if you are keeping them enforce a gym member cap on the amount of members. Contract-based gym's are supposed to have a cap on memberships so people can actually get in and workout. All in all 2/5 stars. Gym's I would recommend instead - Anytime Fitness (contract but has cap on amount of members) good place to workout at non peak hours. - Snap Fitness (their gym is too small, but you can get a workout in during most times of the day + no contract, no penalty for cancelling) - No limits fitness (big gym, you can get a workout here, much better than this gym if it is within distance to your house) - Heavy Metal Gym (Cheap more serious minded gym, generally not too busy, go here if you want something cheap and more serious minded) This golds is probably one of the worst gym's in the entire province. Don't come here if you want to get a decent workout in because it wont happen due to the high traffic.
Great gym!! Small but gets the job done!
