We stayed in Fairmount Jasper for 4 nights and the place is an absolute chaos.
During our stay in early September 2021, there was 4 weddings going on and the resort was pretty crowded. They had 2 places open for food, one was the main lounge where you get your typical bar food, and the Italian restaurant which is set course menu. The main lounge always had a line up and sometimes even no seating available with a wait time of 45min. The breakfasts took almost 30-40 min to arrive and on the final day I had to ask the manager for his help to get some breakfast to us. The Italian restaurant insisted on set course menu with some add-on la cart options which were not that interesting and mostly overpriced. So we ended up driving to town most of the time to get some decent food.
The other issue and totally unacceptable with the resort is the pool. Lots of kids and adults diving in the pool constantly and kids running around splashing water everywhere. We had to go sit far away in the grass area not get demolished by the super hyper kids. Lastly the staff and managers were all overworked and everybody running around trying to do their best with an over crowded resort.
Fairmont Jasper lodge might look nice and beautiful on the surface, but it’s a chaos underneath the hood.
That said, the hotel gets a 10/10 on cleanness and staff and location. It deserves a 5 star for f not for these 2 issues, but Accor (owners of Fairmont chain) is a greedy company and therefore tries to operate with less resources to save pennies. But they don’t come short on charging $21 for a cocktail, $17.5 for a scoop of ice cream, $30/day resort fee, $25/day park levy fee, and $700 a night for room. Don’t expect them to open any of the 8 additional restaurants when the resort is gets full.
