After being a member at this gym for several years, I've found the equipment maintenance is horrible. The price of a membership is cheap, but after recently cancelling my membership, I'm now stuck in a 60 day cancellation period, what a rip off. Motion Fitness lied to its customers about the new location, it was promised by January 2019. Half way through June, there is no floor, walls or ceiling, it is nowhere near ready. The manager admitted to me that they are building two new gyms in Saskatchewan, and they are priority. Much better gyms in town for the price.

this is just my opinion but it Was the best gym ever , now they got rid of all of the free weights heavier than 75 lbs and most of the useful equipment , their reasoning is they want to get rid of the weightlifter crowd...from..a..gym?(allegedly) mission accomplished in a very offensive manner, I worked out there for 6 years and now I need a new place to train , they also got rid of all of the classes and child care. who exactly are they catering to??

Decent place and prices, but they’re maintenance is horrible. This fan has been broken for 2 years as of January 2016. Also the Ac units went down last year. Took them 4 months to fix it. It was 90 degrees on the thermostat in the upstairs. A third of the seats in the sauna are cracked enough you can’t sit on them. A shower has a hole in the floor since summer 2017. Once you get on top of your maintenance I will delete this comment. You have my number after all since you brought up my profile ILLEGALLY gave out to another client which I sent you a screen shot of them admitting this, yet you’ve done nothing about it. How’s that for PR now? You’re the busiest in the city, use that maintenance fee on maintenance not treating your friends to supper each night.

The cardio room is upstairs.. Hot and stuffy. Poor ventilation and barely has one working fan. The machines themselves are often hit or miss with the screens. The weight room is crowded and too busy in general. The bathrooms aren't very clean either. Seemed like it hadn't had a good cleaning since it was the World Gym. I tried this gym for a few months because of the price, but didn't take long before I changed my mind and cancelled my membership. It's a perfectly fine gym to pay to NOT attend though.. If that's what you're looking for.

The ladies section is so disappointing. And dirty! There are cobwebs on the cable machine. It’s not really hidden at all if you want privacy from the guys and it’s so small. The equipment is seriously lacking too, of course they assume no girls use power racks or anything heavy. It gets really busy and I wish they had an area for powerlifting. They don’t have a safe space for it because there’s no bumper plates and not a lot of room. You can load the plates on the barbells but you can’t rly leave the box around the rack easily if you wanna do something like hip thrusts.there’s no parts on the outside edge of the power rack to load a barbell for deadlifts. Also this gym is still not 24 hours and it’s always crowded! When will it be open all the time again? Really sucks for those of us who signed up for that reason.

Insanely busy, poorly maintained and not well laid out. If you can work out at non standard times it's better but going in the evening when everyone is off work is less than enjoyable. Dumbbells still only go up to 75lbs, that is if you can even find them, the staff seem to be perminatly stuck behind the counter so there's no one to organize or put away any weights. there's a reason it's $10 a month.

The staff is very rude and unfriendly, they never greet anyone and when ever I approached the front desk they are very confrontational and I never felt welcomed to the gym and is never clean. I told them that I just moved to the city and showed them my Telus ID and they said that I need a AB ID. There is many reasons why I cancelled my membership but the principal is the staff.

This has got to be the absolute worst experience I've ever had with any company ever! They double charged me more than once, and when I canceled my membership they renewed it after the term was over for another 50 dollars. I've spent over a week calling them trying to fix this issue but I've never even got to speak to a real human. They're on hold service is the most annoying service too. You can't just stay on hold you have to actively press 1 every 30 seconds or it ends the call. DO NOT USE THIS GYM!

Decent prices, wide variety of equipment however when equipment breaks down it takes a few weeks to fix which seems to be almost a regular occurrence from people abusing the equipment. Noticeably dirty as you can see the dust in the return air grills and on top of the ducts and walls makes the gym quite unappealing. Biggest concern is lack of parking space considering half of it isn't paved or has gravel so it's usually full of mud which most vehicles can't drive through. Massive pothole in the entrance to the gym which hasn't been fixed in a couple years since I joined. *EDIT* Pot hole has been fixed. Ducts are still as filthy as ever. Staff are friendly and equipment are back in order. 06/05/2019

Horrible costumer service. I had called in to cancel my membership several years ago and was told it was over the phone. Only to find out 2-3 years later they never canceled it, continued to charge my "account" auto renewed my membership then sent it to collections. When I called to complain with costumer service they told me the person on the phone was wrong and that I had to come "in person" to cancel it. By this time I had moved and was 5,000+ kms away. This effected my credit and caused me to have to pay $750 to clean my outstanding debt.

Gym is cheap and it shows. You get what you pay for! The staff are friendly and it has a great atmosphere, however the equipment and mats could really use updating... When I used to go, you could bring a friend for free, which was cool. It also included tanning. Because of the low price it is super busy at times and you sometimes have to wait for machines.

Been going to motion fitness for 5 years now and of course with every gym I have likes and dislikes that being said I started my journey at the Motion in clairmont quiet a little small but has everything you need to get the job done a great facility.love the staff.then moved my workouts to the one in grande prairie bigger more equipment.for the bang for you buck it’s a great gym great staff yes it could use some upgrades but all and all a great gym to put in that work .keep fit and have fun

This is a great gym that has *almost everything needed/wanted equipment wise. Pro's: Price Friendly staff Mostly kept very clean Quality Protein Shakes available for purchase Tanning Music Size of gym is a definite plus considering how many members they have - I still avoid going during peak times between 5PM and 8:30PM- Majority of members are very friendly Con's: Parking Fixtures starting to fall apart in the shower room Showers could use updating/more regular cleaning. More benches needed in the locker room Paper towel dispenser settings are a joke Punching bags would be a welcome addition Mats are in desperate need of replacement Overall, Motion is an excellent fitness facility that just needs a little TLC.

Never sign-up for Motion Fitness because i signed up in November 24/2020 and after couple months i lost my credit card and then, i called up for cancellation. nobody canceled my membership.i never go there once i called for cancellation. then, after 6 months i got a bill of $265. i emailed to everybody in motion fitness management team (billing@motionfitness.ca, gp.manager@motionfitness.ca,membersupport@motionfitness.ca,service@motionfitness.ca, membercare@motionfitness.ca) to resolve the issue. but, nobody help me out, not even 1%.even though they said we will send your information to collection agency if you don't pay the full amount instead of help me out. and i am not the only one who experience this, there are many people.please read reviews on Facebook too.i am really upset with lack of communication with them why they keep charging the credit card that does not exist? why they did not cancel my membership if they are not getting their money? how they again start my membership after they closed for Covid-19. why we need to give 2-months written notice prior to the cancellation? why they do not give you copy of the agreement via email or in-person when you sign up? on what basis NSF fee is $30 if bi-weekly payment is $5.99? they know that i did not use their gym in last 6 months but still they want their money. so, i highly recommend never sign up for motion fitness.

Horrible gym maintenance, i had 5 machines i wanted to use be "Out of Order". Absolutely disgusting locker rooms, i didn't even want to touch the floor when i came out of the showers. Some of the staff gave me attitude when i asked why their drop in price was so high, an all time high of $20! All in all a pretty unforgettable experience and definitely would NOT come back again.

Can't waive a annual fee even if you're not renewing your contract and not been to the gym for quite a while and still paying the monthly bill. There should be a way to refund. Even banks can and other businesses do that.Just didn't have the time to cancel my membership as I am busy and it takes long time for someone to answer my call when I contact them through phone. There should be some exemption. You've been taking money from me monthly for more than 3 months.Still can't refund me for annual fee even if I have paid my monthly bill and haven't gone to the gym for months. I initially made a review when I first started coming to motion about two years ago and everything was still fresh and new... But now after a few years the equipment and the facility are looking in very rough shape. Looks like maintenance is not kept up regularly as some pieces of equipment have been broken down for some time and the cleanliness in there is atrocious! Obviously the price is really good, but I'm not sure it's worth it.

While I did enjoy using this gym when I lived in town, my experience since than has not been great. I gave the 60 days notice to cancel my account and did receive confirmation that my last payment would come out on the 11th of November. However, on the 16th of November they still took the yearly fee from my account. Not sure why I'd need to pay a yearly dee for a membership that i had canceled. AND, considering we're in the middle of a pandemic and I hadn't worked in over a month, I was not prepared for this payment (obviously it was unexpected as I had received confirmation of my last payment date). I have left a voice-mail and sent 2 emails to their customer service team with zero response from them. I'm very disappointed that your customer service ends at cancelation of membership. This fee you took has caused additional fees at my bank as it cause my account to become overdrawn. Would appreciate someone contacting me about this and would also appreciate a refund on that unapproved debit from my account....

Worst gym experience of my life. Will never go back. I would advise no one to go there. Period. Especially if you think the price is great. They charge you more than you'd think. Here's why: They don't just charge you bi-weekly, they charge you a maintenance fee within a month or two of signing up. If you try and cancel you have to pay for another two months. If your payment is missed they charge you 25 and you cannot update your payment on phone you have to go in. The customer service on the phone is terrible and they can't even answer any questions they just tell you to go in so it's a waste of time, and the people at the gym aren't helpful at all either. The gym is messy always has issues, and It's always too packed because of the "amazing prices"

The tanning bed has 14 burnt out bulbs. Took TWO staff over 5min to understand what I was saying, they tried turning it back on three times in the process. WiFi never works. Gym is dirty. Showers are dirty. Staff don't speak English. They have tanning services but no knowledge of tanning products they sell. Well, for $4-10 a month I guess you get what you pay for.

Not for Athletes (Strength training, Power training, Dynamics) other than Body Builders. Retired out of the army as a Captain and have competed nationally and internationally as an avid athlete representing Canada, Alberta and even Grande Prairie (Olympic lifting, Power lifting, Biathlon, Football, Track). They do not allow deadlifts of more than 400lbs even if guided (they call it slamming the weights even though slamming the weights is something entirely different and weights over 400lbs will make noise, I am currently recovering from two broke feet and I can't imagine what they would have done when I went up to 550lbs). That was from the manager and front desk lady who when I talked to became apparent they have no athletic knowledge of working out and were quite confrontational.

This is a fabulous and affordable gym in West Grande Prairie. There is no contract or sign up fee and the gym is staffed 24hours a day. I avoid peak hours and at times felt like I've had the whole gym to myself. They also have a smoothie bar and tanning. I would definitely recommend.

I joined this gym 3 weeks ago and it has been my worst experience ever at a gym. The chaos at the front desk, my key card not allowing me access repeatedly, the front desk dude never being able to find me in their system, and equipment that is always out of order. I went in today with a written cancellation of my membership and I am told I have to sign. When I asked why, when I had written my cancellation and signed, he said you just need to sign, you just need to sign. The other guy at the desk starts saying it's ok you can go and repeats himself. I said ya know this is one of the reasons I am quitting. This gym is chaos. The dude shrugs his shoulders as if to say I don't care that you are quitting or why you are quitting. I joined in hopes of a better experience. Unfortunately, I will never recommend this location to anyone.

I have done everything they asked me to do.called their main office, Emailed with membership services . Signed a digital document to confirm my cancellation request. Called numerous times to cancel my membership and for months I have been getting charged. I hardly ever get upset over a little hiccup , or miscommunication on anyone’s part . Mistakes are made. But I have been repeatedly told the issue is taken care of but am charged bi-weekly as per usual membership fee’s. Get your ducks in a row please. And a refund while you’re at it. I don’t appreciate feeling like I’m being pushed aside and stolen from . Great gym , nice staff , but obviously management needs to tighten up.

Everyone keeps saying "decent price" or " price you can't beat" but honestly the only reason I still go here is they have no competition. The restrooms / changing stinks!!! The sauna has not worked for a single day since I signed up, I find the women's changing rooms extremely uncomfortable due to dirt I really dont think this gym is up to code. I completely understand the price is cheap but I can bet that a lot of people pay for this membership and dont even use it!! Why aren't the maintenance fees being used properly.

I have trained in a few different gyms, this gym by far stands out from the rest. Management has surpassed any other gym I have been to, the staff are all very professional and kind. The equipment is maintained and in great condition. If they don’t have what you need, ask and you shall receive. I have personally talked to the management, all I can say is he holds the upmost professionalism that I have ever encountered in a gym. I encourage Everyone to come in and achieve your fitness goals with Motion fitness, you will not be disappointed with your decision.

Joined awhile back and worked out a few times, gym wasn't well maintained and constantly packed. When I cancelled my membership they had a final bill that they didn't tell me about. They then made no contact with me to try and resolve it and just sent me to collections instead. Do not sign up with these people, they don't care about your experience just that they get your money.

He told me I would have to pay $10 dollars for a new card and then commented in Tagalog (Filipino language that I was a Crack head) my wife is Filipino and she later translated it for me. Honestly for the price you can't beat it. The gym has almost everything and it's fairly new equipment. Fixed dumbbells and barbells are a little limited in terms of max weight and there are very few duplicates of equipment; only doubles are flat bench with rack and squat rack. Lots of cardio equipment.

This gym always give members a new experience. i had Coach Jerry as my trainer for boxing and i have never felt better after my workout. Coach Jerry pushes you to your limit and teach you properly. Do not sign the contract!!! This place is a joke. I went one time, like 2 years ago, and they are still trying to collect money from me and charge me more every month. Will not cancel my "membership' even tho I went in and explained everything, they say it's all in the contract, but they did not tell me this when they signed me up. they try every day multiple times a day to take out money. It's 5:23am and they have tried 3 times this morning. They don't explain the contract when they sell the place, but It's actually something I've emailed and called and even texted the random number they use to text you saying you owe them money. Looking for legal advice to deal with this rude, absolutely discutsting place of business. Bunch of crooks. I hope you get shut down for good.

This place was a great deal for the membership, aside from when your membership fees suddenly go up without warning. I sent an email to someone about this, to which they claimed that they sent out emails stating that membership costs will go up. I never received this email, and when I mentioned it to the person who I got a reply from, they never replied to my email. Real professional way to run a business. Rude staff that are untrained and have no idea what they are doing. I got charged a $60 cancellation fee after being told by 2 staff that there were no cancellation fees. Horribly mismanaged, its really not that difficult to run a gym! Avoid this place like the plague.

Very bad and Scam!!! I just had one late payment so then i paid all the extra charge and suddenly 2 weeks later they charge me $74 instead of $9.99:bi weekly. They said that there is an annual fee but they did not mention in the beginning. So yeah i only had $39 in my bank account them they charge me $74 thats why i had to pay for an insufficient fund charge. It wasnt my fault because i was not expecting that they will charge me $74. Then i canceled my membership and they said its free but i have to still pay for 4 payments.... that is really stipid. I need my money back...

Cancelled the membership but somehow they are still debiting my account after the fact? Filed a complaint with Better Business Bureau, done playing their stupid games.

Busiest gym in Grande Prairie by far. Been here for a year and midway I bought another membership at Winston's due to the busyness of this gym. The equipment is alright and the cleanliness of the gym has got a a little better after the constant complaints. The dumbbells and fixed bars only go up to 75lbs (dumbbells) and 70lbs (fixed barbells) which is a joke. The dumbbell rack is the most unorganized dumbbell rack ive ever seen its insane and needs to be relabeled badly and brightly! There has also been a broke down shower stall in the mens washroom for almost a full year now as well. The maintenance is getting slowly better but lots of room for improvement. Pros to this gym is the mass amount of cardio equipment they have including 2 stepper machines. The machines on the floor are new LifeFitness equipment along with some Hammer Strength machines as well. Good size stretching area. The gym is 24hrs which is great for us night shift folk, and the tanning/ cost of the membership makes it worth it (barely).

I've been in this gym since they were a world gym. This gym have some flaws throughout the years, but the customer service makes up for everything. They have a very welcoming group and they make you feel at home. I recommend this gym to everyone because of the cheap price, big facility, boxing class and they even have a tanning room for a very affordable prices.

This is a very poorly managed gym and business in general. Their system is completely disorganized. Husband and I supported the gym during the pandemic, now we moved cities and there is no Motion Fitness here and they continue to charge us after we were told everything was canceled! Completely incompetent and not a business to be trusted with your banking information. There are incredible gyms out there with better facilities, better management, and better fees. This gym has no integrity and will tell any lie to disguise their mistakes and keep taking your money for their gain. Do not support a gym that conducts business this way and is so unprofessional. Take your business elsewhere.

I would give zero if possible. I started my membership over a year ago almost 2 years ago while working in Grande Prairie which I made known when I signed up and was told no problem "just let us know when your done here" they said. I used the gym for 2 or 3 weeks and then moved on received a call from them about the payment not being processed on my card. At which point I verbally canceled with them over the phone. Today I get a call saying it's now in collections for the balance of nearly 400$ because I didn't do written notice. I was there for work which they understood, and then proceeded to work in the states for the duration. I've called there billing and been told I have to deal with collections and collections says there's no talking about it or working it out its just pay the total. There was no 60 days written cancelation policy explained. The guy setting me up had me signed up and in the gym in less than 5 minutes. This is Ludacris. Outrageous. 400$ for a gym I used for a couple of weeks ????

About a year and a half ago the gym was excellent. Since then changes have made it difficult to remain a member. People keep to themselves for the most part, and staff are polite but I wouldn't say overly friendly. Dumbells are limited in mass, only going up to 75 lbs, sucks if that's your focus. Equipment is relatively new and is fairly well maintained. The lack of Dumbbells restricts exercises and often causes problems during your time there with there being so many people in the gym at once. Other than that, good gym but will be looking for a change come end of membership.

Don't expect anyone to call you back, they have a central phone system and when they put you through to the front desk you get an answering machine that no one checks. They play super annoying music on a short loop so that you hear the same song 3 times during your workout. The good part is the place is clean and good selection of machines but no Dumbells over 75lbs :(

Not to mention, their fees are ridiculous....ridiculously absurd! I’m not sure who came up with a $20 drop in fee but my protein bars aren’t even that expensive. When approached as well, they gave me the worst customer service I’ve ever dealt with. I’m not sure how some incompetent people still work there as they fail to mention important information to the paying customer.
