One of the best non chain gym around the area. HUGE and clean. They just reopened after a fire burned a major part of the gym. The staff is very nice and they do not pressure you in any way to buy a membership compared to other gyms I know. The owner is one of the coolest guy around.

Nice clean locker rooms and showers. Newer equipment, lots of machines and open floor plan. Bring a towel and gym shoes, outside shoes are strictly not allowed on the gym floor. Signing a contract with Gym Max is truly a mistake, as you will be treated with arrogance and contempt. Just moved to Gatineau, shopping around for a new Gym to workout at, they wouldn't let me explore the floor to see what they offer for free weights and machines I had to view from a distance, which is a first for me, I have been to alot of gyms and have had the lifestyle for 12 + years I dont know any gym that would have a problem with this. They dont take debit or cash for memberships or they do and they just confused the crap out of me. I found that there were ladders in on the staircase and a fan in the middle of the doorway with a little contruction happening in the building but because I didn't have a towel they did not let me work out, so the lesson learned here is the safety for people and mbrs are not a priority for these guys but maintenance and upkeep of the equipment is more important than the gym mbrs. i find I get harassed by the staff alot by asking me if I have a towel or if I have t-shirt on underneath my sweater, what does that matter?? Do you wanna know the color of my man panties too?? There are papertowels and cleaner bottles on the gym floor to clean the equipment when your done, Just sayin, so a place where you are suppose to build muscle wont let you show your muscles, you have to wear a T-shirt, but the girls/women go around with sleevless shirts on not that I dont enjoy seeing hawt women prancing around in little sexy tight workout outfits but lets keep this 100% fair to everyone, I understand that people get intimated or poor self esteem when compared or next to a bigger feller but c'mon man grow up, I find there are too many rules to fully enjoy your workout, I dont know If i would go to this gym as I dont know what im getting into, but I will continue to shop around and if nothing pops up who is to say I end up working out at Gym- Max. Hope this helps someone. I do have multiple gym memberships so this isn't my priority gym, I only like it afterhours due to it is 24hr gym and its close to my house.

Over and all, this is an amazing gym, lot of equipment, machines goes really heavy, which is perfect to suit strength training and bodybuilder type workouts. There is also sections: cardio, girl section, lifting, functional room, boxing room, etc... I give 4 stars instead of 5 because of 2 things, first there is disparity to men and women in the dress code convention (although after 7 years, guys can finally have tank tops but only in a specific section) and that was so unproper and unethical, and also, although the gym advertise as being 24/7, its been many many weeks all together recently, that the gym closes at 22pm and is not 24/7, which deeply impacts some of us with more specific schedules. The new and big functional room (bootcamp, crossfit, olympic lifting area) is also not accessible after 22pm on the days that the gym is open at night. A few details, but worth knowing, before you lock yourself to a 12 months membership.

Fantastic Gym, they have a great selection of machines, free weights, a cross fit room and even a ladies only section. Big locker rooms and clean, great location, however, will never go back. Had some late fees as I changed my bank card since tap no longer worked and forgot to update it with them. Was accused by the staff of cancelling my payments with the bank. I am not vaccinated so could not go since they put in place the vaccine passport, not their fault, not their decision. Spoke to the manager Martin, I said I would be happy to pay the past membership fee, plus late fees, and even the cancellation fee and would sign up again once the vaccine passport was no longer necessary so long as he waived the charges since when the vaccine passport was in place, since I could not and did not go. He refused and even threatened to send my account to collections if I did not pay. Reluctantly, I will return and pay the 160$ total to Gym Max, but thanks to Martin they will have lost out on a 600$+ yearly membership for X amount of years to gain 40$ (passport/membership duration). In hindsight I should have cancelled when the passport began, slipped my mind. I will find another gym once they open back up to everyone. Great spot great shakes, great upkeep, met the owner once, actually a super nice guy, other gyms with flexible policy available in the area though. If you're looking for high quality equipment at a fair price and you are vaccinated, I still highly recommend it, just left with a personal sour taste.

Loved my experience at this gym. It was clean, organised and had a great variety of equipment for all tastes. Staff and patrons were respectful and courteous. They do not offer towels. If you want to shower there, you will need to bring one from home.

I just read the other review. I was taken around to the whole facility before I signed up. This gym has all types of people, the hardcore, older people, not so fit people so I like that it is a well rounded gym. You don't feel like out of place regardless of your level of fitness. They have a ladies only section but I wish it actually had doors because its completely open for everyone to see which to me defeats the purpose but that would be my only complaint. Good shakes too!!

The establishment and the equipment are very nice but overall I would not recommend this place to anybody looking to get a long term gym membership. At arrival, the service at the counter was very good and they walked me through all their amenities which was great but unfortunately it’s the only good things I have to say about that business. Their “membership agreement” is basically a binding contract of which you cannot break without paying outrageous hidden fees. I subscribed for a year membership and after realizing that the management was unprofessional in many way, I’ve decided to cancel my membership within the legal trial period mentionned by the office of protection of consummer (QC). The day I cancelled, a representative of management came to me and started calling me names and insulting me because I was not satisfied with their service. I tried to speak with her but she simply left the counter and I had to deal with the employee working at the moment. In order to get rid of that “contract” I had to pay a “cancellation fee” (hidden fee) that initially was supposed to be 50$ but ended up being 70$+tx. Overall, my very short experience with this business (3weeks) ended up costing me over 180$ and now I have to intend legal actions in order to ensure that somebody stops them from treating their clients the way they do. To be clear, the employees were very kind to me and I dont have anything to say but positive about them but unfortunately the management behind that business has proven itself to be extremely unprofessional. If I have one advice for anybody looking for gym in the Gatineau-Ottawa region it would be to save yourself a lot of headache and avoid this business.

Good gym but you guys should tell the redhead trainer wearing a hat to wash his hands whenever he uses the bathroom, especially if he's gonna make physical contact with his clients. Kind of ironic that we're told to disinfect our equipment but basic hygiene practices aren't respected by the staff.
