I think some of the reviews are outdated so here's a comprehensive review: I've been using this gym now for about 2 weeks. I'm a Syncrude CO-OP student in the Timberlea area, I usually train 3-5 times a week at the Athletic center at UofT which has Olympic lifting platforms so I'm used to good equipment, variety etc. but of course that gym has a hefty price tag and you get what you pay for along with other amenities such as a pool, sauna, multiple fitness classes etc. Looking at the cost of Phoenix fitness the facility reflects the cost and I actually think you get more than you pay for if you snag a membership during a promotion. The cardio equipment is BRAND NEW and in very good working condition. They have finished a group fitness room that can be used for stretching or for those who want to workout in an enclosed space if they're shy. The strength training equipment quality is hurting a bit but they're still functional and there are more than enough options to get your workout in. There is about 2 machines for every major body part, multiple cable machines, 2 squat/deadlift racks, a Smith machine, 2 leg presses, lying leg curl and leg extension, assisted pull up machines, shoulder press machine, pec deck, rear delt, seated cable row machines, lat pull downs, bicep curl machines, abdominal machine, back extension and the list goes on. They have a full dumbbell rack with multiple sets per weight so that you don't have to wait for someone to finish using the 50lb dumbbells. The facilities are clean, the staff are very friendly along with the gym goers and there are change rooms, showers, bathrooms, lockers and sinks for men and women. For $25/month (your cost will vary, I signed up during a promotion) I'm actually impressed with how much I liked the gym considering I'm used to more "upscale" gyms but if you know what you're doing or even just starting out it has everything you need. As a student I highly recommend, it's never too busy and you rarely have to wait your turn for equipment. Also their hours work great for those working 7:30am or 12hr shifts because they open at 4:30am and close at midnight giving you no excuse to miss your workout. I highly recommend this gym for anyone who is placed in the Timberlea area if you like walking to your gym before your workout or just want to save as much money while working in Fort Mac as you can.
