I feel confident to workout on my own with all i am learning from her. It really helps me achieve my goal having her personalised meal plans and workouts. She is a positive influence in my life!

Good gym with lots of equipment. Wasn't to busy and the staff were friendly and helpful. Change rooms could be bigger but not a real issue. Shakes after the workout are a nice touch. Overall great gym.

I have been at Gym Nation for over a year. When I first got there, i felt out of place, uninformed and lost. If it hadn't been for the fantastic personal trainers, great gym goers and the front desk staff, i wouldn't have stayed. I have read a lot of these reviews, and I don't know enough about the manager's role at the gym. I know the Owner, Pete, is a great man who wants to improve moral, reputation and the overall presentation of the gym. They could really benefit from a full time manager to assist in maintenance and promotions etc.. Over all, the front desk staff and fellow members of the gym have become like family.

Great Gym! Lots of talk about this place and I think it's mostly about the people. From what I've found the people are really helpful. This gym has so much to offer with it's equipment. Price is fair for the quality and the diversity of the equipment. Definitely recommend trying this for a day or two and see what new things you can try!

Mediocre gym, very over crowded with equipment and could use some better air ventilation. The front desk staff was good until I came in and there was a girl with brown hair who was working the desk and I guess she thought she could just sit there and collect a pay check, when I asked for a day pass I swear it was like pulling teeth. I’m very satisfied with this gym, location, condition of the equipment, variety of equipment. The staff has always been polite and courteous. I’ve been to many gyms and price wise it’s what you pay for punch cards or drop ins elsewhere. I’ve paid $75/month in FSJ BC for a gym 1/4 of the size. The downside is there isn’t much space between the machines. Other than that, great place!!

Pads on the machines and benches are worn and need replaced. Duct tape is not sufficient for what they charge for a membership!! AND most of the touch screens on the cardio upstairs do not work. Time for some new equipment!!!!

This is definitely my favourite gym in Fort McMurray! Tons of equipment so there isn't much or a wait time for a machine, clean facility and friendly staff. When you're done your workout be sure to head over to the supplement side of the gym to see Raylene. Not only will she have you in tears laughing, but she knows her stuff when it comes to fitness and nutrition! Can't say enough good things about both her and gym nation!

Dropped in here last week to try it out since it is very close to my house. When i got there the worker at the desk took her time to finish her text before looking up to help me, and when she saw i was paying with cash, she laughed and rolled her eyes, which i thought was pretty rude considering they don't accept tap payments. Which makes cash the next fastest way to pay. Also when i asked about membership prices, she directed me to the board down the hall, rather than giving any advice. The locker rooms were very clean, but small for such a large facility. There is a large amount of equipment and a nicely sized cardio area. Overall the facility is very nice, but the general attitude of the staff and high prices are enough to deter me from coming back. You can go to Mac Island and get swimming, basketball, a running track and rock climbing for far less than the prices of Gym Nation.

There is no gym like the nation in town. Has the best of the best equipment for all your fitness needs. Have tried out all other gyms and community fitness centres there’s no place that compares to this place. The owner ship and employees are second to none will help you out, with all your questions everyday of the week.

This has to be one of the best gyms I have ever trained at. Amazing selection of equipment and free weights. Actually mad i didn't train legs or back tonight. I'll actually schedule my training next time I come back here so I can train either. For a sheer gym to work out. You will not find a better place. To all the people who complain about "big guys" training along side of you. Welcome to working out at a gym. Focus on your workout and not someone else's. Can't wait to come back and train here again!

We were long time patrons of this place( even before they moved to timberlea). This place is aweful, and there new blonde manager Danica is atrocious. She's incredibly rude to customers, calls them names, will gladly hang up on you and has no sense of what it is to be a manager. This place was great before she came and now it's just gone down the toilet. The only good thing about this place is the amount of equipment, but if your looking for a place to work out I recommend going anywhere but here. My husband and I will NEVER go here again.

New blonde lady manager is very rude. Inquired about student pricing and she tells me to go to Mac Island and calls me an A--hole afer I told her she should try and be a bit nicer to people who've been going to the gym for couple years now. So I went to Mac Island for a third of the price, thanks for the advice! A friend of mine was owed a month of membership after being charged through the evacuation and was promised this by management at the time. She told him she will not honor that arrangement and told him to go to the YMCA "with his attitude".

I love the fact very few people use the cardio equipment there so there is no time limit on any of it and you always have your pick of cardio equipment no matter the time of day. No matter what time of day I go there is always someone cleaning. I have never seen another facility in town clean as much as gym nation. I have left a other gym because of how dirty it was. The only down fall is that the janitor room is in the woman's change room and the male cleaning staff always walk in and out without knocking and asking if they are okay to come in. The hours are great for shift workers and the location is great.

Prices are absolutely outrageous, especially for a mediocre gym. Staff is not very friendly, and the change rooms are tiny and disgusting. Not even 24 hours and over $100 a month just to lift, no other services provided. Compare to what I pay at good life, $48 month this place is a joke. I'm a commuter and only in town half the time and have to spend a fortune just to go to the gym. Horrible pricing, decent equipment, terrible amenities like one water fountain in the whole place and it's warm. Edit:Spray bottles with old sweaty gross rags for cleaning equipment and uninformed staff. Went in and bought a 3 month membership only because it's the most convenient locale. After posting this review, the manager Jenneke or something (same one all the negative reviews are about) canceled my membership and banned me from the facility. Even after phoning her and trying to reason with her, she ended up hanging up on me after calling me names and berating me over the phone. Most unprofessional experience I've ever had with a business, and they robbed me of my money. never signed any contract or anything, paid for 3 months and got 2 days use before I posted a review about their high prices (staff told me $115 per month when it's apparently $110 per month) and now she has canceled my membership which I never agreed to, and will not give me a refund. Such a shame to have the business run so poorly with no attention to customer service. and yes, I will be seeking further action about the theft of my money. Was willing to carry out my membership or take a refund, but they insist on unfair business practice.

The gym itself is a 5 star rating. The cardio machines are a 3 star. There are lots of broken machines. But the change room is a 1 star. It has toilets right between the locker and poor ventilation. The smell is terrible lots of times in there and it is crazy crowded. All this said I have been a member for 4 years as it is the best gym to work out in Fort Mac.

Jess very candidly stated in her post 5 months ago that all the negative feedback is coming from members who are actually not members. Well, I am a member and I called today to request a refund for a 3 month membership I had signed up for. In all fairness I joined in October 2018 and i called in 2 months after on 4th December 2018. Yes, I have stepped in the gym a few times and the facility and equipment is good but how management , especially jess handled this situation i would tell everyone not to go there. I got laid off from work. I explained my concern and to start off a conversation one would expect some empathy. If I get a call and other sidd said "I lost my job", my instant reaction would be "I am sorry to hear that". No big deal , she doesn't have the phone manners, its okay. Then I requested a refund for the membership i wont be able to use because i am laid off, i am moving out of province. Her response was that this town has lot of fly in and fly outs , if I make an exception for you then I will have to do the same for others. At this point of time I was stunned that is she even hearing that I mentioned I got laid off. I am willing to provide documents proving that i will have no employment and every penny counts. As a manager she definitely requires more skills . She may have had good ,professional experience with others but for me I would give one star. She is the representative of the gym and in my opinion she failed miserably in resolving a concern thus represented the brand poorly.

I heard horror stories about this place and how many people were ripped off during evacuation and how rude the new management was to customers. However, I chose to give this place a chance since my previous gym was not open right away after the fires. Although the weight training equipment was decent and up to date, 90% of the cardio machines upstairs never seemed to work and were not labelled "out of order" so I would have to try about 5 pieces of equipment out before finally finding one that operated properly. When I knew it was coming towards the end of my 1 year membership, I asked the girl behind the counter what date it was finished and that I did not want to renew my membership. She told me the exact date and did not mention anything about a renewal. A couple months later, I noticed I was still getting charges on my credit card and phoned gym nation telling them my membership was supposed to end in January. The girl on the phone rudely told me that it was written in the contract I signed over a year ago and that it was my fault for not reading it more closely. (umm how am I supposed to remember every detail written on a document signed over a year ago, and why wasn't this brought to my attention again when I told them of my plans not to renew my membership?) Pretty disgusting how you are using these loop holes to rip good, honest people off. I hope in the future, people thinking of walking into this horrible establishment will listen to the reviews (unlike myself) and take their business to a much friendlier and nicer establishment such as MacIsland, Syncrude Sports & Wellness Centre, or even the YMCA.

I signed up at the gym by one of your online advertisement in May 2018 on Facebook which was asking for my credit card information. After signing up; the page advised me to visit the gym to get my access. When I visited gym lady at front desk told me it is the wrong advertisement and I would have to do a new contract. I choose not to do new contact as the gym were not honoring their own advertising campaign. So, Lady told me that I will be receiving my full refund from the online marketing team shortly. It's been a month now. I have not received any refund and I also got charged for the month of June. I am tired of contacting the gym front desk because the lady who receives the call is so unprofessional. I called 5 times and visited once to see the manager who is always not on site every time I called and visited in person. I am really frustrated. If they have internal issues with your marketing time; it is not any customers problem. I love the gym. I was member in past they have good equipment but on the other side their customer service is really poor.

I've read allot of reviews however I love it here. I find even though theres lots of people there most of the time I never once waited for equipment. The staff were super helpful and friendly. The juice bar in there was amazing. The locker rooms were smaller however your not there to hang out in the lockers so who cares at the end of the day, there still newer and way better then most. And yes the price is a bit more then other gyms, however i'd much rather pay and go here then any other rec room in the city. By far my favourite :)
