I frequent this gym and absolutely love the atmosphere and the equipment. I've been coming here for over a year now and am very satisfied. However, I'm upset that your 24 hour access has been taken away! That was one of the most attractive features of joining initially.

Good gym. As of 3/14/2020 not using adequate cleaning products (current product requires soaking, leaving to stand for 10 minutes, then wipe- no one cleans gym equipment and mats this way. 70% ETOH is necessary.) Also no one is currently cleaning dumbbells, kbells, etc. I wiped one off myself today and paper towel was brown w dirt. Good gym, needs to step up cleaning measures -yesterday- to protect staff and clients.

Good, convenient location. Parking can get difficult on movie nights, but otherwise no issues. I only go to this location so can't compare to others, but it is a very clean facility with a lot of equipment. I've never had to wait for long to use anything. Trainers are very professional although I do wish the PT classes were cheaper.

The staff are supportive, friendly, and will go above and beyond to guide you towards your goals. This goes for the manger who is not afraid to do the dirty work! I ❤ this location and am so happy to be back. Good gym with poor management. Good amount of racks and equipment and the price is pretty decent. I have no real issues with the gym itself or the staff I've interacted with and have had positive experiences for the most part. The issues come up when they decide to make changes out of the blue. First off you are going to have your random gym fees, but I came to terms with this as it seems to be a normal practice for gyms. I had a membership for a while last year and ultimately cancelled after the location suddenly changed it's hours. There was no notice of this, or even a sign on the door which still said 24 hours. Recently, I started going back as my roommate has the membership which lets you bring a friend. Until they suddenly decide that they're only going to let you bring a guest on 3 specific days in the week. I only learned of this when I was already there and the new rule was in effect and ended up having to pay $10 for the day. That being said, I will probably end up with a membership as there are not many gyms which offer similar services for the same price.

I tried to change my membership plan and they wanted to charge me the enrollment fee all over again so I cancelled my membership. This turned me off about this place. Taking my money somewhere else.

Need a manager? They aren't there Need help in Billing? They aren't there Have a complaint? Join the club I went in April and requested to cancel my membership. I was told I was all set. I noticed recently that I was charged for 7 months. I went to the club to cancel and request a refund. I had to wait because the person in front of me had the same exact problem. Asked for the manager and there was not a manager at this location anymore. I asked for someone in billing, and they weren't there for the rest of the day. I called a few days later and spoke with someone in billing and they told me I would be refunded. They refunded three months as a "courtesy". I appreciate the "courtesy" but I would prefer if when I am told I was getting a refund that I got the full amount. I was cancelling my membership because I moved away from the club. I probably would have rejoined next year when I moved again closer to another location. After this experience, I will seek out alternative clubs.

Wow just came walking a 40 minute walk in the snow to find out this gym location is not 24 hours anymore. Not cool at all. This was my favorite location since it was the only one that's 24 hours from Monday thru Thursday but not anymore so this is my reason on a 3 star.

The staff aren't very friendly (they're not mean either... just meh), and there's not always an attendant when you walk in. If there is, they're usually "busy" on the computer, and don't greet you. Also lots of staring from the staff and other gym-goers that may make some people feel uncomfortable. The women's locker room is pretty clean, and they recently got free wifi.

THERE IS AN $89.99 FEE TO DOWNGRADE YOUR MEMBERSHIP. I actually like the gym and the staff, though the facility is not as great as the Maple Road location. I tried to downgrade from a multi club membership to a single club. THERE IS AN $89.99 FEE TO DOWNGRADE YOUR MEMBERSHIP. I write that in all caps because I'm disappointed and if you read anything from this post, just know about this nonsense fee.

I've worked out here for most of a year. It's a pretty good gym, nice and big, but they could really use a decline bench. Also, they have this random equipment fee that they throw at you outside of the membership. I paid up-front for a year and then got slapped with a random ~$40 fee a few months later. It felt super shady, but I had to pay it or lose my remaining months of membership. *Edit* response to the owner - Can you address your "equipment fees" though? I paid for a whole year. How does that mean I get hit with additional charges again 6 months later? No other gym does this and it felt extremely dishonest.

It is really sad that I am a buffalo native , just flying I. To work out for a few days , when I arrived at the gym to speak to the manager , the front desk woman greeted me with an " Whats up " . Proceeding I asked for a manger to state if I could get a pass for a few days , since I will be leaving . A manger came out and I was asked to wait for a district manger , after waiting for thirty mins , the answer was we can't , with no further explanations. I am fully aware of the COvid protocol here , however I do feel the entire management there and this situation was poorly handled . It is very disappointing to say I am from Buffalo when situations like this happen and people handle things very unmannerly . This was truly not an experience I was expecting and it was super disrespectful . LA fitness along side anytime fitness was much more welcoming and open for communication .

I've been going since March 2019 and it started great but recently seems to be crowded & a little bit unkept. As well, one of the bike machines has been down for a few months. I find myself attending other Catalyst gyms outside of the city since there a lot more nicer locations, with more accommodations (Hydomassage is not here, certain equipment, more benches/squat racks at other locations). Edit to owner’s reply: Great to hear! I plan on continuing to use this gym as my main gym due to its proximity to my office/home, and I’m glad to hear about any changes/upgrades.

The staff gossips about the members, in turn causing staff to treat members poorly. On two separate occasions they took money out of a member's bank account without authorization. She had to call her bank and the US Fraud department ( there's actually four you can call).

It was a Friday evening when I got an email from my old gym, Fitness 19 telling me they would be closing the following Monday. The email also said Catalyst Fitness would accept my membership and welcome me to their gym without a price increase. Six months later, I’m confident in saying Catalyst Fitness on Elmwood is the best gym I’ve ever attended. I’m also confident in saying I haven’t utilized half of what they offer. It’s a big gym with a lot going on. If you’re considering a new gym, check out Catalyst. Pros: Everyone at their front desk is extremely friendly and fit. Their equipment is state of the art. Everything from the weights to the cardio equipment to the turf to the locker rooms is always clean. Cons: Sometimes when working out in the evening (6pm-8pm), you might have to wait for one of the more popular pieces of equipments to become free (squat rack, bench press, deadlift barbell).

I enjoy this gym but the music is always obnoxiously loud, even painfully loud at times. Almost everyone listens to their own music with headphones there so it’s not really necessary. I would really appreciate if I could work out while not destroying my eardrums :)

My wife and I just wanted to cancel the damn membership. First dan tells my wife, that she doesn’t need to fill anything out and to call back in a few days to confirm that her account is canceled. He also tells her they have to charge full fees for September 11th. I call another location listed in my membership card and they advised me that I need to fill out paper work before cancelling. I called elmwood and spoke to Steve who tells me I don’t need to fill anything out and I ask for the manager, and he says he doesn’t know his work schedule or have a contact number for the manager, which is crazy. My wife goes back in for the 3rd time and asked for the manager and they stated that they weren’t sure when he was coming in but then checked a schedule showing when he was coming in. This is poor business practice guys, I just wanted to cancel, why was this so difficult 2 hours later. I then called the other location and the young lady cancelled the policy with no issues. I didn’t need a ghost supervisor to cancel.

My boyfriend has a membership that gives him the privilege of bringing a guest with him...which is always me. He has the most expensive membership being 29.99 per month explicitly for him and I to go together(mind you we could each purchase the $10 membership and pay less for anyone who thinks we are getting away with not paying appropriately to use the facilities). With no emails or warnings from the gym, him and I were told upon ARRIVAL(standing there ready to work out) that guests are only allowed Thursdays saturdays and sundays. We were being told that I could not workout with him. So we left.This is absurd! I understand implementing changes. But implement them with appropriate warning. We come to the gym 4+ times a week, and have never been given any type of a heads up. We wasted time and gas to utilize a membership that we pay for that I thought was a contract. We will be switching gyms immediately. Had appropriate warning been given I more than likely would have just signed up on my own. But the poor mishandling of how this new policy has been implemented was such poor customer service, we are both looking for a new gym.

Worst establishment ever after complaining to BBB they suggested I file complaint with Attorney General office. Visted gym once in 4 years they make it impossible to cancel a Membership. Went for the a tour and gen mg answered all our questions and more. Went for the free day pass and I can tell I fit in with the general energy of the space. They have all the amenities I like and prefer and some brand new and attractive updates. Fully signing up soon. The staff are friendly too.

Decent gym. Lots of upgrades except for any new cardio equipment. Other locations seem to have more for the same price such as a sauna and much nicer locker rooms. They put up some new signs which I find offensive such as "if you're grunting, you better be in labor" if you're too weak to put your weights back the GIRLS up front will help you"....I dont think these are funny or helpful in any way and they are offensive to women. I think a franchise can do better. The williamsville location has motivatioal quotes and images on there walls...buffalo gets jokes about labor and weakness. Nice.
