This Gym is classified in the category of Gym.
I was a good life member for years then I moved to Victoria, the hours of operation at this cities location are unacceptable.
The staff here are chill. Lots of machines, and no one will try and stop you from working out the way you want to. "Right side up, upside down, you do you. " - Is what they said.

Great gym - until you try and leave. I was a happy customer for over 10 years, but my experience at the end ruined all that. I got the complete runaround about cancelling my membership ('call the number', 'no, have to do it in person', 'no, call the number', etc). I was only able to finally cancel by getting the email to the local manager from someone else who had gone through the same thing. Also, they don't expose prices anywhere so basically you have to negotiate your rate. It is a real shame that the organization has turned into a used car / cable company type experience because the facility itself is great and the classes (BodyPump, etc) and local instructors are excellent.
The staff are nice but sometimes too crowded.
Solid goodlife with a nice view. The changerooms are located outside the gym as it's in the mall, but other then that decent gym with a good selection of equipment
Great Staff ! They do a fantastic job of keeping the gym clean during these nutty times. Very friendly and courteous towards members.
I love this gym :)
Wow.. what an amazing center
Lots of great machines to use and space they even have a tanning bed would be great if they were 24 hours or at least open later on weekends
It's filled with heavy things to pick up and put back down again.
By far the best gym in town!! No one can beat the cleanliness standards. I miss 24 hours gym though!! Friendly staff and all equipments are always in order.
Google says I was here, I don't remember. I dunno, walk in check it out
Great place to workout! Nice to beginners, huge facility, variety of equipment and fantastic personal trainers! Staff are friendly and motivational (bonus:they offer group classes from yoga to barbell workouts)!
Great gym right downtown, later hours would be nice but this works 95% of the time for my schedule.
One of the worst gym I've been to, they close too early, they tell you that you will be provided with many options and facilities, that's not true, and they would tell you that the associates are there to help, and whenever I ask for help they say they are busy with other clients! So why anyone would go there?
Walked by. Looked like they were closed until further notice due to the COVID-19 restrictions imposed by the health officials.
Has everything you need in a gym. Lots of squat racks, benches, cardio equipment, weights that go up to 100 or 120lbs, lots of barbells. I rarely have to wait for anything. There's also free towel service, free lockers if you bring your own lock, showers, and massage chairs. There are some downsides. There's only one bench for shoulder presses though, would be nice if they had two. Sometimes I need to wait for that =/. There's no free parking. You have to pay or come after 5PM when there's free parking at the city parkades. I also find that this gym has very limiting hours on the weekend. Both Goodlifes in Victoria close at 6PM Saturday and Sunday, which I think is very early. Lastly, the gym is in a mall. If you come to the gym after hours, there's only one entrance that's open, where the guard is on View St. That's not mentioned anywhere. I found out by asking a guard there during regular hours.
Very warm and welcoming staff! They took the time to show me around and help me get comfortable with the facility.
Amazingly friendly team with a lot of heart. I never felt judged even when just show up for a qick walk on treadmill.. some serious..die hard athletic types along with myself and others blend in and feel good getting out to the gym. Bless this psrticular gym.
SERIOUSLY PUSHY SALES PEOPLE HERE, PEOPLE. IM SERIOUS. IF YOY CANT AFFORD TO PURCHASE PERSONAL TRAINING SESSIONS ON TOP OF YOUR MEMBERSHIP WHEN YOY REGISTER, THEY WILL LITERALLY ASK YOU, LIKE WHY TF NOT? I'm like, uh, because.... I can't? My rent is a lot, my living expenses are already too much as it is, I just wanted a gym membership because I want to have the option of going to the gym sometimes? Etc? The girl asks me, "if you buy these sessions, would you actually be unable to pay your rent? Like, you wouldn't have enough because of the sessions? They're only like $290" for this package(or whatever). " I was really upset that she said that to me and was so pushy after I said no. I never went back and cancelled my membership I had just signed up for. It was so embarrassing. So rude. I don't understand how she could be so ignorant and impolite. Also, People shopping at the mall can watch you work out from the other side of the glass windows.
Edit 2- The Manager Drew Todd is a wonderful professional person. He resolved the issue with a refund finally. 4 stars ???? now (just for Drew)???? Edit - From 5 Star to 1 Star I won't recommend this facility - Stay Away. I cancelled my membership and I have been told that everything has been processed but I noticed that the account has been charged again after 1 month. The person at Front desk told me that it was a mistake done by part time job employee and he will pass it to the manager for resolution. The Manager did not even bothered to call me back. When I called them back to enquire, I have been told that my account is still in effect and I need to pay $99 to cancel my membership. ???? so please avoid this facility and do not fall in their membership trap.
Very pushy. Just feels like they're trying to sell you on their memberships even if you explicitly express that you are not looking for a membership and just want a place to drop in. No "drop in packages" available. Drop in fee of $25.00 is outrageous. Membership fees are outrageous. Terrible business model and terrible atmosphere for a gym. No sense of community and support, feels like they are purely there to just make money. There are so many locally run community-based gyms in this city that are way better options than this place.
Spacious gym. Large variety of equipment. I hope they increase the weekend hours.
I like this gym. While it's not as convenient as some others, I've never felt pressured by the staff to sign up for more than I need. the locker rooms are nice and spacious and clean, and There are only a few times a day where you'll have to fight to get at the equipment you're looking to use.
Decent set up with a lot of natural light from the huge windows. Missing a few key machines. Good amount of ellipticals and benches. Friendly staff and really nice change rooms.
I highly recommend staying far away from this facility. Their nothing but crooks I've spoke to the manager at the gym its self and the office manager they both agreed my gym membership has been canceled now their sending my case file to collections I've recently had a hernia from being trained wrong at their gym and now they pull this stunt 5 months after my case as been supposedly closed I'm boy reporting them to the better business bureau. Not only they closed their second gym to crame everyone into their smaller facility in the mall this place is a joke
They have two squat racks!
Stupendous place to workout. Very clean gym in a convenient location (very close to work for me) with a great crowd! Equipment is kept in stellar condition.
Havent been inside
Great atmosphere, amazing people and tons of state of the art workout equipment. Awesome group fitness classes and personal training as well! Would highly recommend.
Have really enjoyed my experience working out here!!!
well equipped, clean, great staff great classes and trainers
reception service is very bad. I don’t recommend it
Love it!
The Club Still Open?
First time at this gym and the lighting is horrible and way too small to accommodate the amount of members. Definitely wasn’t what I was excepting for a downtown location.
It's been years since I've been to a gym. Started my membership about a month ago. I love the access to personal trainers. Yes - you pay extra - but I've been very impressed thus far with my trainer, Jason. I'm switching to a new one this week, as my schedule has changed - but I'm expecting my new trainer to be excellent as well. The equipment is fantastic and well maintained. So many machines to use - and free weights as well. Great class schedule, if you are into classes. I absolutely love the staff. It's nice to go in and be welcomed every time you come in, asked how your day is going (and they actually mean it! - not that they need to hear the diatribe LOL!). So friendly - and knowledgeable. Beautiful change rooms with roomy lockers, showers and private change rooms too (if you're not comfortable changing with everyone). Bring your own lock. They even have a towel service - so you don't have to remember yours. Everything is supplied there, yoga mats, free weights, cardio, treadmills, ellipticals, bikes (both stationary out by the treadmills for working out - or you can join their RPM class (most people know it as Spin class - but that is a copyrighted name and they don't use the Spin class format - but their own RPM class). Body flow, Body Pump, Yoga, RPM class - just to name a few - for group exercises. If you don't want to join a group, they even have this thing (I haven't tried it yet - maybe today since I missed the Body Pump class this morning) where you can start a video on the big screen and have your own "private" class :-)
Great Gym!
I have been a Goodlife member for 3 years now and really enjoy training here. The staff are great and the gym itself is very well equipped. Change rooms are great, could use a sauna though!
Very clean friendly staff.
excellent!
Very nice Jym
Good experience so far (1 year) Friendly, helpful staff. Five (I think) squat racks. Other members are considerate, at least when I go and I rarely have to wait for equipment. No complaints!
Great place to exercise, clean, and not crowded other than rush hour. Friendly staff. Especially for travelers and short time membership was cheaper..
Staff are rude and fascist. Will not return after my paid trial. I'll go local where they have WiFi, and as a grown adult can bring my purse where I please. #notsogoodlife
One of the cleanest gyms I've ever been to. And I've been to many all over the world. Lots of equipment including sleds, turf zone, Oly platforms, etc.
The staff at this location are genuinely nice. I lost a key. Called in to ask if it had been turned in, it hasn't :( 4 mins later I got a call back and a staff member had went looking for the key and found it! Couldn't be more grateful that they took the time to find my key and to call me back so promptly! Gym is also very bright, never overly busy. Full range of up-to date equipment. Only thing I find annoying is there is no cross over cables...
Excellant
I hate working out so my rating means diddly...
Visiting out of town I decided to workout but it was a bit tricky to find it in the mall. The gym itself is rather small and missing some pretty important equipment compared to my regular location back home.
Small but nice staff, amazing instructors and the classes are great. I always feel good leaving here, however I did have my locker broken into (when my lock was on) by someone as did many other women. It would have been nice to have been warned of this when they knew of this issue by a simple print out in the locker rooms.
Tried the Fitness World in town but was not that impressed. Goodlife has an amazing staff and state of the art equipment and there always open!! Love it!!
Bad service and very non-acommodating! drove 45 mins to this gym for a drop in while I visited Victoria only to find out I could not train there because you had to be 19 years old, the day before I got a tour through the gym and the girl did not tell me anything about it. I didn't even got a proper apologie from the girl the next day and they were not even able to give a good alternative. I would advise to walk 3 blocks further to the 4 other gyms around downtown victoria instead going there. If you are under 19 I would advise Forge Gym, they will help you out.
Love it. Friendly staff and very nice and tidy gym. I wish they could extend the weekend business hours.
Good pleace
Extremely expensive for very little, I went in to end my membership and they assured me all I owed was the upcoming month and the cancellation fee, until I got an email stating I still owed 50$. Super disappointing gym
Nothing to complain. Very clean, Hammer Strenght machines and nice staff.
I have a been a goodlife member since 2015 and I couldn't have asked for a better gym. plenty of machines, well trained and friendly staff, great atmosphere and ... it feels like home!
Does the job. But probably least appealing Goodlife I have been too
I really enjoy this gym. I usually just do a ton of cardio and they have lots of machines. It seems like there is never more than 10 people at the gym, even less on the machines. I usually go in the afternoon before 3pm so that could be the reason. Staff seem friendly, they haven't bothered me since the free orientation/fitness ability test thingy. Parking at the mall for up to two hours if you're a member of the gym.
Written by Paula Mitchell. I attended a personal training session with Derek Feuchtwanger today. I felt it was important to review the equipment and my fitness level given I have been away from the gym for 18 months. I found the session extremely helpful. Derek was very knowledgable and professional in his approach and focussed on helping me find ways to deal with a shoulder injury going forward. I left the session with a good practical approach to what I need to do to accomplish my goals. I would highly recommend Derek as a personal trainer or a resource at the club for fitness advice. He didn't pressure me to invest in personal training sessions based on my injury and current goals. But I would recommend him as a personal trainer based on today's experience.
there are lots of squat Racks, the gym is nice and clean and the class schedule is great! Love it
good training facility
Good location and nice use of space. Plenty of racks and platforms, air bikes, turf area, massage chairs, etc.
Multiple people not wearing MASKS at all times. Staff/trainers clearly ignoring those without mask. So surprised at the lack of importance this location places on masks. If it dose not change soon I will cancel my membership and report.
Top notch professional gym, something for everyone. Great classes, nice staff. Super clean.
We have been going to the Vic West location for 5 years. This location was closed and we were “transferred” to the downtown location. This location is poorly managed compared to Vic West - has less strength training machines, and some of the machines/equipment were broken/not well maintained. Very disappointed with how GoodLife managed the transition, knowing a lot of members from Vic West location will be coming to this location, yet, not prepared for this at all. They just don’t care.
I've been working with Cameron, and I love the morning front desk staff. Great atmosphere and they are so friendly and welcoming. I would recommend to anyone and Cameron is a great personal trainer!
Keeps you going. I don't know exactly what it is but when you turn fifty you start loosing your upper body strength. So it becomes clearly important to be active. This is one way to do that. One of the reasons why this is good is because you are not doing it alone. If this isn't your cup of tea then join a walking group. They have them in Cook street village and in James Bay. Good luck!
I was visiting Victoria and wanted to try out this gym location. Interesting setup (workout area is a cross the hallway from the change rooms and showers, staff need to buzz you into that area each time you enter) the treadmills at this location seemed a bit outdated compared to the other locations I've gone to, and it always felt like I was on an incline even though I removed the incline in the treadmill... The TVs/connection were also poor. This location was a bit cramped given the layout so distancing was a bit difficult at times. Nice thing about this location is that there is a bit of a view of downtown near the cardio section, and they have different (arguably better) equipment compared to the other locations I've been to ( legs, glutes, core). Change rooms/shower areas were clean.
Kumi, the instructor of BodyCombat, Zumba and some BodyPump classes, is my absolute favourite! She's super friendly & encouraging, funny, and always gives you a really good, really sweaty workout.
My gym. #CanadianStrong keeping us fit with live classes on IG daily!
I love the 2 hr parking!!
Had bad experience today, a staff rudely and impatiently kicked off my jacket off with his foot when he passed me, strange thing was there was so big space he could walk by but he chose kicking my jacket off impolitely.
A very big space with all of your workout needs!
Friendly knowledgeable staff great prices
Well trained staff, and very well maintained equipment. Great location! Can go shopping right after my training :-)
Great place for a workout. Staff are awesome. All safety precautions in place to make your workout safe.
A very clean gym with lots of natural light. Equipment is well maintained and they have 6 squat racks! 2 hour free parking is also a huge bonus.
Great location with lots of space to workout without getting it crowded! The personal trainers are very helpful and available if you need assistance with anything!
Great equipment and classes!
You couldn't be more wrong this time Google Maps. This is an exercise place. ????
Just visit and feel healthy
Way overpriced. They raised their prices and it now costs $80.00 per month for a membership.
I had great experience so far with my fitness trainer Cameron. He went exceptionally beyond to motivate me come to gym constantly checking with me on emails and phone. I was struggling because of personal issues and missed certain sessions. He open heartedly assured to provide me my missed sessions. He is so knowledgeable and provides you information on how every exercise would affect which part of body. I loved the way he checked on my wellness proactively which you don’t see often in business these days . Highly recommend this place. Cameron is most positive person I have ever met .
They have two squat racks!
