A great venue for after hours private events! Clean, "swanky" and the staff was all great too! I did my launch party in their space and will likely return to them for event space in the future. Thanks for a great experience! The only reason I am not giving a 5 star review is that the catering options were a little pricey/fancy for our needs. I do wish there were more "simple" menu options for appetizers/nibblies.

It's a good gym but I had to end my membership. I am not pleased with the customer service as I called and emailed multiple times to find out how to do this with either people telling me the manager would call or not getting any replies at all. I finally got found my contract and decided to send in registered mail like it states, in order to give my 60 days notice. I still haven't heard from them but know they got my cancellation letter and I have proof of signature. I better not get charged come October 1st.

I typically enjoy this gym as it's close to my work location and I can head on over there during lunch hours. The only downfall is the fact that this gym does not leave a notice or notify anyone that they're not open. I walked approximately 2 blocks in the FREEZING weather (-45 degrees) only to find out that the door is locked, FOB doesn't work and noone is there to let you in. No notification or sign. I was absolutely freezing and had to run back to my work so that I don't get frostbite. I emailed and messaged the gym to find out why they're closed and why no notification was sent out to prevent other people facing the same dilemma as me. This is ridiculous and unprofessional on your part. As well uncaring.

I bought the groupon for this gym as I was hoping to find a gym downtown as an alternative to World Health. Unfortunately this is one case where you get what you pay for. Lots of the equipment is rusted and old(the leg press and lying leg curl especially) and it's very cramped in some areas like the squat racks. On a positive note the bathrooms are clean and new and one of the employees is very friendly and bubbly.

UBW is a clean, recently upgraded gym with lots of floor space and serviceable equipment (I use mostly free weights). The customer service is great (shout-out to Sean) and the new owners have put a lot of effort into making it an aesthetically pleasing, comfortable space to work out. There are two workout rooms for classes - which are free with a membership! Monthly membership fees are very reasonable. I believe they cater to the lunch time crowd, but I have not purchased their food or beverage offerings yet as I often have to quickly rush back to the office (I take a lunch most days). However, I did sample one of their paninis and it tasted fresh and delicious.

Overall, I was actually pretty underwhelmed by this gym. One of their wall quotes said “achieve your goals”, which I thought was really tacky and had little thought. While it is fairly cheap and the hours are ideal for most people working or living downtown, the quality of the gym equipment was very low, which kind of ruined it for me. More specifically, one of the benches was slanted, and one cable fell off the pulley during use. Staff were very friendly and their boxing studio was cool, but all in all this gym just didn’t do it for me.

Gym provides all the necessary equipment for a total workout and is in a great location. Soulful ingredients here also provides good nutritious foods and beverages. Highly recommend the protein smoothies. Gym is also improving and adding new services.

Friday Lunch rush. Downtown Edmonton, you know you have options, but you also know you have wait times. My friend told me about this place that just started serving lunch and asked if I wanted to try. Sure, why not. UNITED BY WELLNESS. Don't go running away. You will see modern decor with a zen like feel. A place where working out and fitness can be seen. But also a drink a food bar. Smoothies and juices. Now lunch. Its various dishes with a sensible touch. Wraps, noodle bowls, rice bowls. I ordered the Thai Shrimp Noodle Bowl. The dressing or sauce that accompanied the noodles and lightly season shrimp skewers with an array of veggies. It was simple, it had the flavor. But without the food coma in the end which I appreciated. I would definitely go back. Give it a try, staff is friendly.

Amazing place! Beautiful interior and very clean! I did a yoga class and had a smoothie after. The yoga was relaxing and offered lots of modifications. The smoothie was delicious and the service was fast!

Polite, friendly staff. Clean workout area, and tasty smoothies and wraps for when you are on the go. I ride my bike and they made special arrangements to allow me to stow it inside the building. Over-all great place to work-out!

Headed there for a lunchtime workout today. Door was locked, another person tried their fob, didn't work. Tried calling, no answer and mailbox is full...No note on door, no explanation on messaging. Not acceptable at all. Update: I talked to the person at the gym the next time i saw them and she explained that the door gets stuck when it is extremely cold outside, so the fob should have let us in, but it was in the -30's that week. She accommodated me for the trouble, and was very apologetic. Appreciated her efforts in this a lot.

I pay my membership every month and hold up my end of the contract but time and time again they do not hold up theirs. 7:58 on a thursday... closed fob disabled. Not the first time.. I would say the 8 - 10 th time that I've shown up to a closed or locked gym during perfectly reasonable hours that they claim they are open. I pay my fees but they are always renovating.. I pay my fees but there is an attempt at a club with a dj going on at 630 on a friday so I'm on a treadmill next to people having drinks. I pay my fees, I've been through the growing pains since it opened as powerhouse because I live so close. This place is the most frustrating business. I know u want to be a think tank, a lunch spot, a club, a gym, a massage place and more but instead of all that try and do one thing medium well first.

The gym is closed on each and every holidays. I wanna be able to use the gym on a long weekend but I can’t because the gym is closed. Will I get a refund for almost 1 week that you were close for Christmas?! Of course not!

My first time here. I find it so comforting and cozy like a place where you can get everything done in one stop. They give a 7 day free trial to have the experience in what it's like to work out here as well as the %10 discount for norquest students. I love this place already :)

Gym used to be a barebones gym for lifting. Now? They're adding some of the weirdest stuff, "classy" chairs, disco balls, DJ events, etc. It seems like instead of being a gym, they're transforming the place into a wannabe night club. Now let's talk music: gone are the days of workout music, now? We get trashy EDM mixes, now let's be real: EDM is not workout music unless you're into Crossfit, and if you are... Good on you, but variety would be nice. All and all the gym previously went under the name "Powerhouse" and it was great; it was literally balls to the walls a gym, a place to go after work, school, study, whatever. Now they're trying to hard to be something else entirely. Hours are also really beginning to suck.

I don't normally write reviews but I thought it was important for me to share my experience. The staff were welcoming as soon as I walked through the door giving off a very positive vibe. The fitness area of the facility is quite spacious and there's tons of natural light around the facility. I will definitely go back again!

Large gym with lots of equipment for cheap. Only issues are their hours, especially weekends, aren't great. Also, their barbells have absolutely no grip so chalk is a must. Edit: Changed my review from a 4 to a 1. They've recently been changing things around. Moving lots of equipment, lots of random tables everywhere. Pretty hectic. Also shortened their weekend hours even more to 6pm. Lots of staff and out, only a couple of guys that are actually welcoming. They're more concerned with turning the place into a deli than updating their lacking equipment.

Conveniently located gym in the heart of downtown with a good variety of equipment and incredibly friendly staff. Lockerooms are well maintained and clean, and membership prices are very reasonable. Would definitely recommend.

Great gym with all the equipment you need for a challenging workout. Pros: easily accessible if you work downtown or use the LRT as it is just off Corona, underground parking on weekends and after hours, friendly staff and healthy food and smoothie options. This gym is not busy as owners are redesigning and redeveloping so getting a bench or machine is never an issue. Lots of other options such as yoga and spin classes. The staff are very friendly and always ready to help. Cons: Gym opens at 10 on the weekends. Parking would be nice during the day for those times when you can sneak in an early workout. All in all this is a nice place to workout.
