This Gym corresponds to the category of Gym.
Update - i talked with the employee they said gym isn’t making that much money to be 24 hours. But they still have advertisement board, up and running outside the gym, which advertise the gym is 24 hrs. Paying a premium price just to get 24hrs availability! They give the excuse of covid how come your competitors are open for 24hrs and you not. Mgmt seems to be saving some bucks but its not ethical.
I used to go to this gym when it first opened up and quit this gym in end of 2016 as I could not bear with the crowd anymore - busiest time was 6-7pm and omg I should say it used to be like cock fest you could hardly see any females around and all you see is guys around the machines taking pictures of their arms or snap chatting away and not really working out upon asking hey bud are you done can I use no I am still working on it come back in 10 ok come back in 10 he is still at where you left back SERIOUSLY!!! Like this gym was real nice has the sauna room and huge room for their classes or yet for you use to train but the crowd of ppl at one point of time is over crowded and less machines and equipment and people tend to hog on the machines forever! Some new people working staff are so rude and obnoxious like get over yourself you work at a gym !! Keep that attitude in your pocket ! $15 for drop in wow what a rip off !!! And the prices of gym membership are either high or low when its low you can find the whole Surrey Pindy’s in there !! They should expand this gym more bigger so it’s more worth to come in ...
Nice and spaces. Lots of machines to workout
pretty clean and lots of equipment to use while still being pretty spacious. best gym I've used in surrey
Overall good experience.
Good place for workout! Overall cleanliness and hygiene upto acceptable Level. Only bad thing I have noticed recently that there are not enough bars and light weights available in the open gym after "womens only" workout room availability.
Good for those who want to exercise on free weights .
Very small. Too crowded
Good machine , Customer service , Friday Staff . Value for money
Visited from Calgary. Some of the machines at this location are wonderful. I don’t like the free eight area, very weird compared to any other Goodlife fitness I visited!
The gym is no longer 24 hours. The monthly charges are not reduced as their hours of operation are so what’s the point of paying higher prices? The only reason I joined 4 years ago was 24 hours and quality gym. Pandemic is just an excuse because anytime fitness, planet fitness, and many more are open 24/7.
Sauna, 24/7 and clean.
Called them as soon as I saw a 50$ charge pop up on my statements and they had told me to come in to their location but I had actually moved so that wasn’t possible knowing that I canceled my account a year ago. So he told me to email the owner which I did. After emailing the owner of this good life i have not heard any information back and am very disappointed that they charged my card even though I was under the impression from the employees that my account was cancelled. Clearly shows they care about money more then keeping their clients happy.
I am a huge fitness enthusiast, with a previous membership to SN and Trevor Linden; having found Goodlife co the best option as i travel often for work. Perks for the 76 st location: Amble parking✅ Always have enough towels✅ Open layout, floor space✅ Reasonable amount of Stair Mills✅ Ladies have a reasonable size including all the machines for a full circuit workout✅ I can always COME, Workout and Go ✅✅ The female members at this location work hard, leave you alone and AREN’T in your face snapping selfies every 5 minutes. Fix the girls entrance and you get a 5 star ⭐️
Great gym, nice equipment and clean place. I have been to many gyms in Surrey, this is one of my favourites so far...!!
CRITICAL : DISCRIMINATION/ COMMUNICATION I JUST RECENTLY MOVED HERE FROM EDMONTON AND LONG TIME GOODLIFE MEMBER WITH ACCESS TO ALL LOCATIONS. AS GOODLIFE CORPORATE MEMBER, I WAS NEVER BEEN DISCRIMINATE AT ANY LOCATION. I WAS ASKED TO SHOW MY PROOF OF VACCINATION AND I SHOWED THEM MY VACCINATION CARD FROM ALBERTA ( 2X PFIZER). I WAS TOLD THAT I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO USE THIS LOCATION ON MY NEXT VISIT, UNTIL I SHOWED THEM MY QR CODE. THIS IS RIDICULOUS BECAUSE THIS IS MY FOURTH TIME TO VISIT THIS SURREY LOCATIONS AND I WAS NEVER ASK TO HAVE MY QR CODE. I LEFT AND WILL NEVER COME BACK TO THIS LOCATION. I WOULD NOT BE SURPRISED FOR POOR REVIEWS OF THIS LOCATION.
Class zym no1 in Surrey
Too packed and not enough locations available
Sometimes its messy but overall great gym with everything you need and not too busy
I've been going to this gym for 5 years. Some of the complaints I'm reading here are ridiculous. Don't give this gym a low rating when your complaint has nothing to do with how they operate. A low rating because of other club members cologne? Ridiculous. Staff here have always been super friendly. I too get annoyed when people don't put their weights away but that's not the gyms fault, that's just inconsiderate people with no self awareness, and you can find those people anywhere you go, not just the gym. I do wish this gym was 24 hours because that is the reason I started my membership here, but I understand there's a pandemic. Go look into buying all the weights and equipment (as many people looked into during this pandemic), it's hundreds of thousands of dollars so stop complaining, stop acting like a baby, get your workout in and just be a pleasant person.
Small compared to several other GoodLife locations I've been to. Lots of of relatively underused cardio equipment, but a weak selection of strength equipment. Even worse now that management has taken the entire Hoist machine circuit and moved it into a new women's only room. This disrupted a lot of members' workout routines. I now mostly go to the Burnaby Sovereign location, which is better smelling and has a much better range of gear, but more challenging parking. I see a lot of former Surrey members here. Update July 2019: a number of people here have commented on the smell, the general mess, and the staff. It's a real issue. Members almost never re-rack weights here, and the staff rarely venture out from behind the front desk or look up from their phones. I spend more time re-racking gear than they do. The locker rooms are pretty messy - used towels often strewn everywhere, including on the floors of shower stalls. And the body odour! Sometimes the funk is enough to make your eyes water. I have a Canada-wide membership and have been to many of the other locations - all of them better run than Surrey Newton. A shame, as this is the one closest to my house : /
Good prices
boo
Pretty nice Gym .. 24 hours open is the best part about this gym. Alot of equipments. Washrooms are clean and modern (Not stinky at all unlike other).
Good hours cheap rates
I live in Calgary (I'm a member there) and I'm here visiting my family. Walked in and was given a great deal by super-friendly and helpful staff. Clean equipment. Pretty decent gym layout. Not very crowded. Ignore the negative reviews - GOOD GYM.
Clean, new equipment, nice view of trees, good pump music and not sad breakup songs lol... Nice size space. Good turf areas. Lots of good gear.
Worst fitness centre ever membership expired 6 months ago still charging me for that and their customer service sucks. Will never recomend any one to waste their money on them.
I was there for about 1.5 hours tonight. Nobody wiped down their equipment the entire time. Hope they open more locations with higher standards.
Just started a week ago and I haven't had any complaints or problems so far. It's nice and clean
Cancelled my membership in May but Still getting charged every month. After calling to inquire about it, found out that they cancelled it as of May 2019 instead of May 2018. Ridiculous, like why would i go there in May 2018 to cancel my membership as of May 2019. The guy who cancelled my membership even told me about the 30 day cancellation policy so he knew I wanted it cancelled as of May 2018.
Long time Goodlife member with access to all locations. Goodlife as a corporate gym has never been able to enforce quality control standards across the various locations I've used. With COVID, this gym has been a huge disappointment. Metrotown and Northgate locations both have staff to manage members who are not following COVID protocols. This location has none of that. Members do not wipe equipment down after each use, masks are not worn between equipment and the overall hygiene is disgusting. On top of that, there is 0 social distancing between members...this gym is a COVID outbreak waiting to happen.
I want to join this zym just they don’t provide trainer here. Not recommending who want coach. Rest of everything is OK.
The best gym in the whole world
Very poorly managed People working out walking around inside gym without mask Buckle up management...Covid is not a game!!! Shame on u
It's pretty good, the night time gets very crowded though and makes it hard to use a machine as everyone wants to use one.
Great equipment and very clean
Open 24 hrs!!! Yeah...
With the craziness of Covid-19, I am grateful for the Goodlife staff for working incredibly hard to give us members a safe environment. The morning staff always welcomes you in with a smile. The morning management team is a pleasure to deal with and is always willing to help. They take our safety into great measures and rest assured it does not go unnoticed. Thank you
Very nice
Awesome experience
Way too busy
New machines and pretty spacious
It's okay....I love the review of the "cock swingers"....Damm that makes a GAY man's dream????????????
Excellent machines. Some benches are very unstable and sometimes machines are not quickly fixed.
Where is your Covid policy? You should have it posted on your website.
Quick service
it's alright, staff are good, well informed and will help when they can. over all a good place to work out that isn't too expensive and isn't too crowded
Disgusting gym. Rude staff, lied about the length of my contract. Instead of transferring my membership from Alberta to BC they had me sign a 2 year contract renewal. My fault for not reading the contract and, but when the person behind the desk tells you your contract ends normally just continuing from when I signed up in Alberta I thought I was fine. The manager also admitted this isnt the first time someone has been told different from what their contract says. Guess misleading and lying to your clients is policy at this location.
Great gym, full of friendly staff 24/7
clean, well equipped, great womens only and virtual classes
So Expensive. 40 plus tax and 80 buck signup fees. comeon dudes don't rob us.
Staff not good.
Decent size gym, lots of free parking, The place is **Jam Packed** between 5-9 PM during week days so hard to get a good work out in during that time. Limited free weights but tons of cardio equipment. You either have go by 3 PM or after 9 PM to be able to use the free weights and have a decent workout. Tried the gym for a week but with my work timing doesn’t seem a viable option. It is however open 24 Hrs. for anyone who likes to work out during late night, as for the price its comparable to a lot of other gym in the area.
Good staff
Gym is so dead. Music is down most of the time. NO wifi. Not even a manager to complain to. Gym is supposed to be vibrant and lively. Surrey branch is like a cemetery. No wonder members are moving to different gym. If you want to be motivated to workout, don't go to this place.
I am really pissed off with their service. Today is 24 Dec and the gym is closed. Fu*k no. I always remain consist to my gym routine and plans no matter what happen in the world. But this time they all mess my plans. The real matter is that they didn't notified my all gym buddies. It's their responsibility to notify the people that they will be close near Christmas time. But they didn't, this is really a serious matter. Moreover, when I came to gym and try to open the door It was close and their was no notice hanging outside the gym door that for how many days it will be close. When they sign the contract they never mention that they will be close at that days of the year. They are making false statement that they are 24/7 whole year. They are liars.
Very good value for money, I like the 8PM to 8 AM membership. The equipment is uptodate. Nice and clean. Friendly staff.
Absolute trash! Idk if I can blame the gym, but the people there make it reek of sweat and cologne. The ladies room does not have a wide variety of machines so I have to go to the co-ed Section (which is fine) but the culture there makes it seem too segregated. I wish it wasn't like that so I could work out comfortably. The staff was always nice though.
Needs more squat racks!
Rude staff
People using 2 machines at a time when the gym’s only opened for 1 hour for you. Should make a rule to not use more than one machines or equipments when gym is full on capacity. Everything else is fine.
Centralize location. Great equipments
Its ok not the best gym, staff is abit lazy. Manager is arrogant trainers are the worst. But still its near my house and brand New I think a few more machines are needed.
Good gym. Typical Goodlife atmosphere. Can never go wrong!
A very nice sized gym located in Newton. One co-ed workout section available and is generally very busy. Often time I find myself preferring to work out in the ladies only section of the gym. The ladies only section is privately enclosed and has access to the women's locker room. Usually this section is quite free and not busy as I have gone all hours of the day. They have the 9 core circuit machines that offer a quick full body workout in under 20mins which is really helpful. There is also two full sets of free weights and some resistance machines for various exercises. There's also a rack with various barbells for exercises such as deadlifts. Of course there are a few go-to cardio machines that are popular with alot of ladies, 2 treadmills, 2 stair masters, 2 ellipticals. This section isn't as big as other gyms, it does have a great selection of workout machines, the only thing I wish it had was a machine to work the calves and a machine for hamstring curls. The ventilation system isn't amazing as during the busy hours the co-ed section can have a very distinct sweaty stench, but I can't say that it's horrible because I never stick around long enough in this area. The ladies section ventilation is much better, it is possible that this is the case because it isn't as busy or simply the fact that ladies just don't get to that level of odour. The gym has a rather weak cellphone signal as I have found myself getting my calls dropped on numerous times due to no signal available. I don't suppose this could be fixed any time soon. I do intend to keep going back to this gym, unless they open a new location in surrey.
Never went, but Google thinks I did, so 1 star
Gym is really good but staff is ignorant. Specially if you go early in the morning or late at night. When I walked in the guy was on his phone and when I asked about something we talked about on the phone. He said that I need a parent with me to work out. I am 19 and I showed him my Id but he ignored it. I woke up 3 in the morning to go to the gym because I have work and when I got there at 4 the staff did this so I just left instead of arguing.
Gym is fine and staff are friendly but no one puts their weights away. Squats racks always have weight on the bars and you never know if someone is there. Weights are strewn all over the floor by the squat racks. Leg press always has 2-3 plates a side at least. Dumbbells left on the floor. Again, not a bad place but someone needs to enforce putting weights away.
Nice and clean place to work out. Love the place people are friendly.
Big gym with lots of parking. Almost half the gym is dedicated to cardio equipment (mostly treadmills and ellipticals, but they also have some StairMasters and recumbent bikes). I love the fact that it's open 24 hours so you can come here when it's not busy. When it's busy, you'll have to compete for the limited free weights, weight machines and the tiny stretching area. I never come here during peak periods, which unfortunately last for hours. It's a gong show Monday to Thursday, 6 pm to 9 pm. They have a spacious washroom/locker room, with clean showers stocked with body wash. It includes a dry sauna, but I can't use it because it dries out my skin and hair to an extreme. I really wish they had a steam sauna instead. Disclaimer: I'm not an experienced weight trainer and I mostly do cardio.
Been going here since they just opened, but now it’s completely different. They’re not even open 24 hours anymore too.
Nobody wipes the equipment after using it!!!!! Nobody!!! The gym stinks really bad. There are only 3 squat hacks. It was suppose to be a zero star, but the staff was really nice!!! Ill give it another try when it's not busy time to check it again. UPDATE: second attempt was even worst... Avoid this place if you have some sense of hygiene!
I totally regret joining this gym, and now I'm stuck in a contract. The gym itself is clean but the people who work here are useless!! Aside from the girls at the front, most of the trainers are clueless.. dont even bother getting trained by anybody working here. The manager Derek is an arrogant prick who thinks hes too good to be working there. Good Life clearly hires morons, no wonder this club is dead!!!
I didn't hate the gym until I noticed how no one wipes down their equipment! I approached the people at the front desk on numerous occasions advising them of this and they said "they are well aware of the issue" but "there's nothing they can do!" Of course there are things they can do. It is simply DISGUSTING!!! I havent seen any signs asking people to clean their machines and the cleaning staff never does it either! It smells horrendous in there and the gym is obviously unsanitary. I'm regretting signing a contract with this gym solely due to their lack of hygiene.
I did the body flow class, loved it! less people, smaller place, got the attention and care.. I thought the staff were warm and nice.
Not too bad facility, but one thing that stands out than other gym is the body Oder lingering in the air. Other than members are told to apply sprays/deordant or better ventilation to Breathe Clean Air.
Open 24 hours. Good place to workout. Everything you need for workouts is available here. Friendly staff. Personal training is available.
I love this gym
Good gym but very DIRTY, no one wipes down the equipment and I’ve never had to leave a gym due to the smell of bad body odours, before now...
Cancellation need one month notice before the payment date
WORST GYM EVER! People using the same equipment for way too long and by doing so taking long breaks in between sets. Screwed up my whole workout routine... suppose to be legs day with barbells:( Also this place really stinks
Trying to get a membership issue resolved with the manager Sheetal for now close to a month. After multiple phone calls and emails, it is like pulling teeth trying to get a response. Avoid this gym if you expect any customer service Edit: Head office reached out to me and resolved the issue asap
The staff always cranks the heat to full blast making it nearly impossible to workout. After multiple complaints they still do not listen. I am cancelling my membership, don’t know how you expect me to workout in 30 degree temperatures. They should just not use the heat at all in my opinion just leave the gym cold, makes people workout harder. I have to go workout at newton just cus of the heat.
Expensive and Arrogant Staffs
Great equipment but too crowded
Good facility. Working out here for an year or so and didn't encounter any issues. Broken down equipment is repaired in a reasonable time which is always a plus.
garbage staff, garbage customer service, garbage trainers, garbage administration
I’ve been going to this gym for about 5+ years now and have had good experiences for the most part. When I initially joined my experience with the staff was fantastic but over time as new employees have rolled in I don’t have the same friendly interactions (with the exception of one or two specific staff members) even though I go there regularly. For a smaller location the selection in equipment is really good and they’re consistent with updating and maintaining it. However, the members at this gym seem to leave equipment/weights lying around everywhere, more particularly, in the women’s section to the point where space to workout becomes limited unless you begin put away other members equipment for them. Most people also don’t wipe down the equipment so be sure to do so before you sit/lay on anything. Other than that, it suits my needs for my routine and it’s been an enjoyable place to go!
I love this gym and have had a membership here for 5 or 6 years. It's always clean and the staff are nice! Just really annoyed and disappointed that they don't seem to be operating as a 24 hour gym anymore. The reason I signed up initially was because it was 24 hour service. The Covid restrictions that were previously limiting their hours of operation are no longer in place. So it's disappointing that they still aren't open 24 hours, especially when every other gym in the lower mainland returned to their 24 hour schedule months ago. Not sure what the excuse is.
One of the most cleanest and well maintained gyms in all of BC, Excellent customer service and most professional staff!!!!
This gym is by far the cleanest gym in Surrey if not lower mainland. I often drop in to gyms as I like a change of scenery and this specific location is very well kept! The couple times I have been, the staff have been really nice and informative.
Staff needs to do a better job always on there phone. I asked the guy at the front to help me with something and he ignored me and when I said it again he looked at me in a weird way. Love the gym but staff could do better
Very busy on weekdays in the evening. Weekends is good
Hands down this is the worst gym ..... The management and the accociates are so melodramatic and with the worst ego ever. If you're ever feeling lonely and you need to pick up a date or to kill time and laugh just roll in with a Mercedes and some of chicks will go crazy over you if your a guy... If your a girl and you don't pay any atten to the night motivter then you'll get kicked get thrown out by the police cuz it's the culture there... The guy working at the front desk at night which has the worst ego trip he got my freinds BF kicked outta there by the police !!!!! cuz he thinks he's Popeye the sailor scout, but apparently he got intimidated by a him and a girl lol..... Typical drama.. He told his freinds to make fake complaints to The GM... My freind got fired cuz of this new guy, she was also studying for her fitness instructor and cuz of her being fired her school and money went to waste and she has to start all over just cuz of that guys ego.. This guy is brown and so am I and he was making fun of my English just cuz I'm not Canadian.... Wow never thought living in Canada people still act racist to their own culture. What ever haters gone hate that's life, all I have to say is if you want a melodramatic life then join this gym but you never know when they will ban you and still take money from your account harsh gold digger gym. When the old AGM was there things were a lot better the staff was a lot nicer he new how to filter and train his staff as a team as appose of working against each other. Props to my gf that toughed it out for over a year. And shout outs to some of the instructors like Kendall and sheena awesome full of life
Rude staff, At first I liked the gym but some of the staff members are just terrible they are on their phones instead of doing there job. Love the gym but staff is outrageous. It’s usually the ones early in the morning. If they had different staff members “More helpful ones the gym would be perfect because it’s 24h”
Like it for the price. Good equipment and clean. Work odd shifts so nice to have flexibility with secondary gym.
Gym is always so overcrowded
Great gym just wished it was back to 24 hrs Again. This other goodlife fitness has went back to 24 hrs GoodLife Fitness Burnaby Northgate. Hopefully more locations go back to the 24 hr format As this is what they promote which was a major plus for me when I joined a awhile back.
Nice local gym. Big and not crowded
Service is 24 hrs,,,I have called them 20 times in last half an hour No one is answer the phone. My membership ended on May 13,2019 they are still Charging my Bank account. I am trying to talk No one answering Worst customer service......
Absolutely terrible staff. I originally joined good life from another province which I was very pleased with that locations gym and staff overall. Now living in surrey I am forced to work out at this location. I'm digusted by the incompetent staff the management has employed. They spend more time chit chatting amongst themselves then doing their job. Had made countless complaints which I was told would reach management, but never once got any feedback. The gym in itself is fine. But I would never renew my contract with this location because of the customer service. Much better options in surrey for gym memberships. I would not recommend anyone to join with goodlife Surrey.
Worst service ever overcharging from last 6 months even the membership has expired
Old school machines
I was a member of this GoodLife location when it first opened and it was great. Tons of machine available and it's spacious. I found their service and care for their customers go down as the years went on even prior to COVID-19. I had filed a complaint a couple years ago where an employee was rushing everyone out of the gym for their hours were reduced due it being a holiday, that the changing room lights were shut off on me in the middle of me changing! I had trouble even finding my phone to be able to use my phone light. It's disappointing to see this GoodLife location become like this where it has so much potential.
Latest technology, not too busy, open 24/7
Great gym only problem is that its a huge sausage party at all times.. Great gym though..
Loved the good life fitness been going for a few years from Winnipeg to Toronto to Calgary always kept up with cleanness and has respectful employees that is always ready to help. And now living i'm in surrey went to Surrey Newton I cannot believe how lazy these employees are one team member told me if I don't like it here than leave i told him he should get off his phone and start cleaning up it was smelling like bad odor all he did was look at me and go back to his video call . I told him i was going to call the manager and right away he laughs and says my family isn't going to help you. So after four long years of paying a high price membership which was worth it until now I decided to cancel my membership not worth giving these low caring managements my time or money. I went with Anytime Fitness and will stay with them. Sorry Good Life a good customer is now gone. Good luck and farewell. This store does not deserve any star.
I like how it has separate woman section but staff is not very customer friendly.
The WORST customer service I have ever encountered. The clubs can't help and when you call their customer service number it's based in Ontario, so you have to call before 2. It took me weeks to get ahold of someone, every time I called their queues were full. Plus they kept charging me after I had put my account on hold and refused to reimburse me because of their error. Do not waste your time and money with them. They do not care about their customers.
Friendly staff. Has the main machines needed to achieve your goals. Nice and clean environment.
The experience depends on the time and staff
Great place to work out not to far from train. Trainers all kind and full of useful information. They always work me to hard but that's how you get better rather than staying in your comfort zone
All the good life fitness gyms that we have gone to all the good life fitness gyms that we have gone to are in top shape with new clean equipment. We really like it because they are family friendly. We have decided to get a membership and we plan to use it 3 to 5 times a week. The representative that helped us only did just that they were not pushy we’re trying to sell anything they were simply just 100% helpful then we made our own decision. Thank you
Pretty nice gym, large area & good equipment. Well spaced. I've been a member last 2 years.
i work here its fun nn
24 hours open, suits my schedule. Thank you
Okay it's expensive-ish but you get a lot for that money, lots of equipment and great hours (most are 24 hours) and really good customer service and the gym is alwaus clean... Would recommend for everyone
I like this gym. Best gym in surrey
Very convenient to me .
I honestly love this gym but for a place that's supposed to be 24 hours, two nights in a row I went there to find out it closed like 15 mins before i got there.
Good equipment and great service !!!
RUDE STAFF. OVER CHARGED MY ACCOUNT AND DID NOT GIVE THE REFUND BACK. WILL NEVER RECOMMEND MY FRIENDS AND OTHERS TO GO THERE AND WASTE THERE MONEY AND TIME. VERY IMPORTANT************ READ THE REVIEWS AND TAKE IT SERIOUSLY. HATE TO GIVE THEM EVEN ONE STAR.
No doubt its a nice gym but who charges $180 enrollment fee? They need to lower their enrollment fee, no other gym charges such huge amount.
Wish the gym would offer 24 hours service as before. All other gyms have started offering extended hours. Covid restrictions are over. I will change my review to 5 stars once the extended hours are offered. Thanks,
