I joined proactive after I recovered from an injury I got during basic training in the military. While I was sitting around for 6 months recovering I gained a lot of weight and lost a lot of muscle. The team spirit was a definate motivator and if that isnt enough for you, the trainers are amazing at keeping you motivated. They encourage you to keep pushing forward and you cant help but keep coming back. 6 months later, i am stronger than i was when i first joined the military and 40 lbs lighter. I am now heading back to my military training more confident thanks to the team and friends I made at proactive training! I love this place!

Emerson and the ProActive team are outstanding! Not only do they push you/hold you accountable in each class, but they've developed a community that will turn into your support system. Every time I show up it feels like coming home! Each class is creative, full of energy, and accessible for each person's needs. The thing that stands out the most to me is the formatting of the classes, it allows you to progress but still continue to be challenged. No matter your ability, beginner or advanced, you'll always feel the burn! I'm so glad I stumbled upon them about 2 yrs ago. I walked by this place the other night while a fitness class was taking place. Only one person had a mask on - the instructor. The rest? Not one. In spite of this, I doubt if any pair was six feet or more away from each other. It looked like the place wasn't even big enough for it. A breeding ground for COVID, especially with some heavy breathing. Then the hapless participants wander out onto the street, to the store, to work. Thank you young people! No wonder the infection rate is so high in your age bracket.

Emerson and Charlotte are inspiring. They work very hard to offer a premier fitness experience and community. I am so impressed with what these young people have built in our city! Amazing. You will not get this kind of workout trying to motivate yourself at the gym. Emerson and Charlotte care so much about your personal results, and their expertise and energy is unmatchable. I have been with ProActive Training for over a year now. When I first started I was terrified, but with the warm welcome I received from all the coaches and the members that didn't last long. Proactive is quite simply the best personal fitness option - period. It is infinitely better than joining a gym or crossfit, and here's why... Emerson as head trainer is incredible, and has given me the most motivation and inspiration I have ever felt about my personal fitness and working out. He meets everyone at their current fitness level, regardless of whether you're a beginner, intermediate or advanced level, and always pushes you to work as hard as you can in class - I have been a member for a year and a half and can honestly say the classes are as tough as when I started because as my fitness level improves, I am constantly pushed to work harder, do more reps, add more weight, improve on time, agility, form, etc. The Proactive group is all inclusive, encouraging, and very welcoming to new members, again regardless of your current fitness level. Everyone is happy to welcome new members into the fold and work with them at whatever their fitness capability is. The group environment is highly motivating and encourages you to get to classes on those days when you would normally skip out on the old "going to the gym" - and the workouts are infinitely better than anything a gym has to offer. You don't need a ton of fancy machines that only focus on one area - its amazing what you can get done with body weight movements and some free weights, bands, and other pieces of equipment with the right guidance on movement, proper form, etc. There is a sincere commitment to your overall fitness and well-being, with a diverse training program focusing on all areas of the body, complemented with nutritional support and overall life wellness. I am in the best shape I have ever been in and am constantly improving my results, losing weight and body fat, and always working towards a higher level of overall fitness. I have been in and out of gym memberships for years, personal trainers, etc. and this may cost a bit more than a gym membership, but on a dollar for dollar basis this is by far a way better return on investment than a gym has ever been for me. At Proactive, you are getting real value for your money. I signed up initially for the outdoor classes during the summer which are amazing (and unrivaled), and the new facility in Galt is state of the art and a great place to work out. All in all, if you want to see great results and actually enjoy working out as opposed to it being an unwanted chore, then Proactive is the place for you!

Absolutely love this place. Emerson and his wonderful team are amazing. There's no judgement for what level of fitness you're at, whether you finish first or last you have an amazing community of people cheering you on. I have been weight lifting for 2-3 years now and was kind of getting tired of it/dreading dragging myself to a conventional gym - ProActive is a great alternative. With the smaller class sizes you get the attention you need if you are struggling with your form or if you need someone to give you a little extra "push". Emerson makes it his job to get to know everyone by their name and make them feel welcomed no matter what. I always leave these workouts feeling like I've given 110%. Excellent group training focussed on functional training. The classes are run by an exceptional set of skilled coaches who motivate and check for correct form. It’s almost like personal training. The classes are almost always packed with a great mix of people including beginners and veterans. Everybody is welcoming and the gym is well equipped. Monotony is certainly not the case here. The workouts change every week thereby keeping things interesting yet challenging. Ample parking. Try out a class or 2 before commuting. You won’t regret it. An important lesson I have learned is to never judge someone’s fitness levels based on size/age/gender.

Joining ProActive has turned out to be one of the best decisions I have made this year. Prior to joining, my biggest struggle with other gyms was that I would start off going regularly until my motivation fades slowly. This is due to multiple reasons (unsatisfied with my progress, boredom, injury, etc.). However, ever since joining ProActive it seemed that the more I hit the gym, the more motivated I am to keep going. Emerson didn't create a gym for the community, he created a community for the gym. I love the HIIT and Shred classes both indoors and at Dickson Park! As a runner, these classes offer the opportunity to build my cardiovascular level for improved speed and build muscle mass to improve my endurance. ProActive is a great gym and community to be a part of. As someone who does not personally like the traditional gym setting, the HIIT style workouts are great to keep me engaged. The studio is always well organized and in great shape. Same can be said for the coaches who are always keeping things fresh and pushing people to the best of their abilities (while always providing various modifiers to exercises for those just starting out to those who have been doing it for a long time). The addition of outdoor workouts during the summer and additional special events are a great touch. Update: It has been over 6 months. Going to ProActive has become part of my weekly routine. I go 3 times a week, on average. I have lost a lot of weight, gained some muscle mass, have better agility, and a ton of self confidence. More than that, I have a place to exercise, and feel like I am a part of the 'tribe'. I would highly recommend this to anyone, any fitness level. On the nutrition side, they have help for people of all creeds; they are not beholden to fad diets. I have been at ProActive for 3 months now. The encouragement and support everyone receives is quite amazing. Not only are the trainers helpful, encouraging, and supportative; so, too, are the other members. This is not just a gym or bootcamp or group fitness, it is a place to belong like a family. The workouts are far more physically engaging than anything I have experienced before, and I feel great after each session. Unlike the commercial gyms, there seems to be no selling or upselling, it is easy to feel comfortable and focused on the exercises.

I’ve been going to Proactive for almost a year now after being introduced to the studio by my partner’s father as a “bonding experience”. I have to say it is by far the most fun and challenging training I’ve had. All of the instructors are knowledgeable, and they make sure to help you reach your fitness goals with HIIT and unique exercises. They encourage you to push yourself but in a way that is always mindful of your goals, expectations and athletic capabilities. The instructors always introduce fun and exciting training activities in each class that keep your heart pumping, and your legs and arms shaking. I’ve had classes with all of the trainers, and I can honestly say that they are energetic and motivating, and keep the mood of the class light and fun. We always have fun and feel motivated to push ourselves to get the results that we want. Whether you are thinking of going solo or with a partner (I’ve done both), you always feel welcome and accepted among the group. The studio attracts quality people of varying ages and athletic capabilities - I highly recommend trying Proactive Training!!

Proactive has been a constant in my life for well over a year and a half since I decided to arrest a post operation slide in my overall health. At 65, I am not an exercise enthusiast, one of the zealous converted, but the lively and friendly Proactive community and the excellent trainers there have struck exactly the right personal tone to keep me coming. I work hard, occasional fail and don't follow their advice, foolishly, but am impressed at their steady effort to keep me on track and slowly and surely work to my long term health goals. I am healthier, back to a much better physical trim and still working out with no plans on stopping.

This is the most supportive and friendly group of people I have ever been apart of in a fitness setting. This is a place to tackle goals and make progress in your health and fitness. I have been attending Proactive since early December, which was when I was at my all-time lowest level of fitness. I was super worried about hurting myself, and it was one of the scariest things I’ve done in awhile to finally face myself and see where I’m at physically. The instructors are extremely dedicated and knowledgeable, and have super friendly support staff as well. I have worked mostly with Heather and Emerson and they are amazing individuals. I have heard the type of exercise described as functional fitness. We work on movements and strengthen muscles needed to strengthen the average person for daily life and wellbeing.... but it’s so much more than that. It’s a community of like-minded people, and the opportunity to pursue any fitness goal you may have, in a safe and monitored environment. Initially I lacked the confidence needed to follow through on certain movements, but received all the guidance I needed to gain that confidence and feel secure in class. The muscular strength followed! My confidence also increased once I saw that no one was comparing themselves to others, but instead supporting one another. I was worried I would hold others back since it’s a group class, but most moves are done independent of others. You are regularly reminded to go at your own pace and do your best, while being encouraged to push past mental barriers that may be holding you back. They also do “achievement nights” periodically where you can track your changes over a longer period of time (months, years, etc.), so I’m looking forward to seeing my progress. There are also lots of fun “team building” evens like skating and rock climbing. I am still learning, growing, and changing, and that has been a big motivation to keep going back. Proactive has been the best part of moving to Galt for me. Try the one month intro, you won’t be disappointed!

ProActive ZUMBA with Cassandra - gets a 10 star review from me!! I've been having fun on Sunday mornings since Cassandra started teaching 2 years ago, and look forward to every weekend. Always a sweaty, high intensity, full body workout that I'm sure is making me healthy even though it doesn't feel toooo much like exercising. This is the BEST group training session. When I first came across Emersons Facebook advertising I watched a video he had posted of a few members completing some of the group exercises. I found myself thinking…ARE THEY REALLY SMILING WHILE WORKING OUT? This is too good to be true! I tried to convince a friend to join with me, as I get anxious when meeting new people, we talked about it a few times and then forgot about it. I had previously lost almost 70 pounds on a dieting program but had plateaued (with minor fluctuations, mostly gaining) for over 1 year with very little assistance from the program I was on. My use of the gym was very little (mostly because I didn’t know what I was doing, and was too embarrassed to ask for help). One day, when I was feeling kinda down on myself I happened to be on facebook and saw his advertising again(it was meant to be!). I re watched the videos and thought to myself, lets send this guy an email and see what he says. I sent a quick email giving the basics about me and said I would be interested in hearing more about his programs. A few days later(mid September 2015) is when I finally came face to face with emerson. A person I now consider not only my trainer (and a darn good one too) but also my friend! He was so ecstatic to meet me, he never looked at me with judgement, never questioned why I would even want to try something like this. He got me measured up, chatted a bit about camp, assured me that he had members of all fitness levels and said we start tomorrow bring lots of water and lets kick some but! So here I was on my 1st day of bootcamp. I managed to sneak out early from work so was here a few minutes early. There was emerson, unloading his van with weights and med balls, he disappeared for a minute and came running outta the forest with giant truck tires. And all of a sudden I thought to myself what am I doing here? Other members started showing up and then he said alright everyone welcome to bootcamp! And we went. We started some of the excercises, things I had never done before, and too my surprise, some of the other members noticed I was “new” and said “keep going you got this” and “and wow you are doing awesome for your 1stnight out” my anxiety went from 100 to zero real quick. Fastforward to today, august 2016. I have been through Emerson’s fall 8 week transformation challenge and his winter 8 week indoor training session and am 1 workout away from finishing the summer 17 week challenge(and of course i will be back celebrating my 1 year bootcamp fitness journey in september!). I absolutely love bootcamp, rain or shine, the other members are so encouraging and inspiring and ive made some really good friendships, I blew my plateau out of the water,I have muscles (biceps and triceps and quads oh my), I have strength not just physically but mentally also, I have a better understanding of how important nutrition and training go hand in hand, I have set personal goals for myself and have managed to CRUSH THEM, I have achieved things I never would have thought possible and I see myself changing every day. I am so thankful that I bit the bullet and decided to reach out to Emerson, and he introduced me to Charlotte and the whole proactive training and nutrition family. And for the 1st time in my life I actually LIKE the way I look thanks to the support of everyone and proactive training and nutrition! Ps. Yes we smile when we work out.

I have been going to proactive for 10 months and like many others who have had the pleasure of making proactive apart of their lives I cannot say enough good things about how truly amazing this place is. Proactive was recommend to me by a friend, shortly after I recognized that I needed to make health and fitness an important part of my everyday life; I reached out. I sent an email to discuss my concerns and challenges. I was responded to right away and invited to come have a chat and check the place out. I was greeted and welcomed with understanding, compassion and encouragement. This was a huge deal to me because it helped calm my concerns and motivated me to get started on my own journey. My first class was very welcoming and very hard; I remember wondering if I would make it to the end. I did! The classes are challenging; but they are meant to be. However, there is no lack of modifications, support and encouragement. Not long after I started classes; I also started the personal training. Kyle is my trainer and he is the most professional and understanding drill sergeant I have ever met. I’m kidding about the drill sergeant bit; what I mean is, Kyle learns your goals; he learns your limits and he pushes you to them and maybe a bit more. Kyle is also a wealth of knowledge and I have accomplished goals I did not think were possible under his guidance and expertise. After a few failed attempts in physical therapy years ago; I have actually been able to correct a bad turnout. This has alleviated a lot of pain in my knees and now I can do even more and push harder. I’ve had many successes with the help of Kyle and the whole proactive team, the whole proactive community. With achievements also came setbacks and sometimes a goal change; what I loved about proactive is they always support my goals and encourage me to keep going and thus their slogan “Hold the Vision, Trust the process” is so very true. Proactive is truly an amazing place and something beautiful was created here. To the coaches I would say “If your goal was to make a positive difference in the lives of others; then you have done just that and I am sure you will continue to. Thank You for all that you do!”

Love Proactive! There is such a variety of exercises in each class it goes by really quickly - the classes are challenging, fun and never boring! The trainers offer encouragement throughout the class, check your form and offer alternatives for various levels of fitness and for anyone who is recovering from an injury. I would definitely recommend Proactive to anyone looking for a great environment to get fit in!

I joined ProActive Training Studio last year just for Zumba at first. Loved that class so much that I decided to sign up for their other classes. I'm so glad that I did! Everyone is so welcoming. The classes are challenging but you work at your own pace. I am truly a beginner when it comes to exercise but am able to participate fully. The trainers are knowledgeable and ensure that your form is correct while at the same time, encouraging you to push yourself to achieve your goals. The classes are different everyday and even week to week, they are changed up so you never get bored. It truly feels like a family and not just another gym. I highly recommend giving them a try. I would give them more than 5 stars if I could.
