This Gym belongs to the category of Fitness center.
Place to stay active and healthy
Well maintained place
Good place to do work out and kids lot to do
Very inclusive and supportive. It not just "gym rats" (though there are some hard-core trainers!), lots to do for the whole family, plus an on-site rehab centre (not directly affiliated with the Y, but in the same building). There's a variety of programs available for people of all ages and fitness levels, including senior seniors and those getting over strokes, heart attacks, etc., and those living with chronic conditions.
Gym facilities are good by the daycare for infants leaves a lot to be desired. There isn't any change table (nor is there in the ladies change room) and there's no place designated for breastfeeding. Its also just a tiny space with limited space for young children.
Seems very friendly
Staff was rude and ignored questions about work or student discounts at the front desk. Waited 5 minutes to ask questions but was ignored. Watched an older couple walk in and was acknowledged instantly and had their questions answered. When we approached the lady, she spoke rudely and talked to me as of I were 12. Unacceptable.
Is a great community center, it can be pretty busy at times but I typically enjoy their facilities
Where good YMCA but not that big but very good customer service
Great pool for kids.
the waste that they dumped killed my dog two days ago other then that pretty good
Great gym. There is a pool, and sauna. Wide variety of machines and free weights as well as newer cardio equipment. Lots of free classes available. would highly recommend the tuesday cycle class.
I am happy with their weightlifting machines and space. I am an amateur/beginner at that in this point of my life. Pool is great!
Great family atmosphere with many options to stay active, stay in shape and make friends.
In terms of facility and equipment it is a good gym but customer service is not ideal
Very good place for families with children
Great family place. Lots of activities for the whole family. It's very busy here most times.
Amazing place and staff
Great facilities and childcare
Very nice.
For good health
Great workout facility and a nice food stand
We have been going here for years for swim lessons for both of our children. The facilities are always clean and well maintained, and the instructors are great!
A nice modern Y with pool and waterslide
Great family place.
Friendly staff. Large YMCA
Nice family place good infrastructure !!
Nice but the premium ladies change room the attendant shuffles towels to much please bring a swifter pick up hair on floor
I have rejoined with the Cambridge YMCA and I have very quickly remembered why I left before. Sadly there is no real family gym around the region but Im at the point of driving to a drifferent YMCA. Cambridge has such rude staff and how can children learn to swim when instructors are never the same. I never had this problem when I belonged to other YMCAs, just seems to be this location. (Not all staff either but a lot of them)
Nice YMCA they are spending money right now to update the look black tile really? Great staff and good swim programming for the kids
Modern and clean facilities with really nice staff.
Great services
Great place
Really tidy and the people who work there were really professional
The best swimming place ever
Nice staff, they have improved the gym, thanks for that
The YMCA in Cambridge is pretty cool. It’s kinda small though and feels like there isn’t much to do but that’s probably just if you aren’t involved in any programs like me so you’ll only really get your moneys worth if you join activities and programs. The Change rooms are REALLY COLD I have no idea why. The gym has some outdated equipment (Treadmill for example) its so old they still have the old iPod chargers! But treadmills are expensive so its not really something to complain about. Food at the cafeteria is ok, they have really nice cookies and banana bread but like everything else is just as if your mom made it for you and thats ok because it still taste good and the people at the cafeteria are really really nice :) the food is a bit expensive though and the hours are weird but thats ok.
Been awhile since I've been to the Y. Surprised, in this day and age, that it's still called the YMCA. Bet most young people don't even know what it stands for. Still a great gym after all these years. Been going there, on and off, for 40 years.
Great for family, swimming pool with good maintenance, facilities clean and organized, also, lots to space to spare time and to do exercesice.
only 20 minutes of play time for basketball and then keep switching out paying for something thats not even worth is i can go to a different place and can play for hours straight let us play for longer were paying folks. NOT PROFESSIONAL AT ALL
Very friendly and nice atmosphere to work out in! The yoga teacher is so good you come out feeling great. My son loves the daycare the ladies there are truly amazing at what they do. My son just loves them!
This is annoying, there is no soccer for the age of 12
Love this facility. Non for profit but has everything you'd want in a gym. Lots of space so even when the parking lot is packed, you can easily find a place to workout without interference. Love playing squash on 1 of the 4 courts :)
On my opinion, the best gym in Cambridge. I love the atmosphere. Also love the 18+ change rooms. They’re higher end and there’s not teens acting crazy lol.
Not very clean in the men's locker room
Not very happy that in the new construction they would put a teenage area i.e. pooltables etc right next to the day care and young children areas. When the teens gather its quite busy, loud and many of the discussions going on are inappropriate for the little ones. Though I did notice a staff member with the group, it still is a recipe for something bad...safety is of concern.
Happy, friendly, helpful staff. Nice clean place to get a work out in and go for a swim. I will be missing you for the next 3 weeks. Dang you covid dang you.
Great gym to go to. Lots of available equipment and activities.
Friendly, family-oriented fitness facility and public swimming pool. The youth drop-in centre has pool tables - I wish I were a kid again!
Well organized. Curtious staff. Having almost all facilities
I LIKE THE SWIMMING POOL
The staff are so very friendly and helpful. Nice place to be. I am 70 years old and it's the best place to stay fit for all of us.
Clean, friendly staff, great workout environment
Friendly and helpful staff
The staff here are friendly and helpful and the whole complex is very well kept
Greta gym for its price. Staff is excellent, it has a basketball gym, 3 levels of workout equipment, swimming pool, indoor run track, squash courts. A rec centre for your kids to play in (pool, ping pong, TV with xbox, ps4, Nintendo etc.). All for a price that is competitive with goodlife or any other gym in cambridge, for what it offers.
Not a bad facility. Some of the staff/volunteers are great and others shouldn't be around people.
Great place to watch my granddaughters take swimming lessons
Clean facilities, good gym, two pools. Shared membership with Waterloo and Kitchener YMCAs.
Have been working out here for many years. Great community meeting place, facilities are kept up very well. Volunteers and paid staff are excellent. Cost is completely in line with other gyms, but you're contributing to a place that offers camp for kids, etc., many services. Support your local Y!!
Great place for a workout or swim.
Davey loves camp and really enjoys the fun here.
A great place for family fitness and fun
Great for the family
I love the place all under one roof
Very nice facility
Bright, airy, friendly and helpful staff.
Great place for families
Friendly staff! I used the Men's Plus area and it needs to be updated. Great for a workout, swim, or relaxing.
Grandson takes swimming lessons there
There is a nice swimming pool which has a great wading area for my toddler. The zumba class I attended was also very energizing and fun.
All the amenities plus after school programs for kids. Multiple fees levels too.
Helpful and informative peeps. Cant wait for swim lesson program to open up.
Awesome kids programs, clean facility. The only drawback (and the reason its 4 and not 5) is its always soooo crowded! OK if you're there at non-peak times though.
This Y is better than your Y.
After spending $1600.00 for a family membership. I was hoping things would be good. However the pool hours are ridiculous for families closing at 4pm when kids leave school at 3:30. How could you possibly get their on time. Then they change them for summer hours which once again is ridiculous. They are so P.C. they have lost there way. Thank god I left. The staff are awful. They belittle people and have an attitude that their superior. I am a business owner that if I treated customers like they do would not have any work. The last incident occured on October 1st at around 7:30am. I accidentally took my daughters card instead of mine and was harassed by the counter person saying she could take my card. How dare they treat people like this. My wife asked to speak to the management regarding pool hours and the woman refused to come our of her office. I would advise anyone thinking of joining to go elsewhere. There are alot of cheaper places with people who understand how to treat paying customers. If you are a member make sure you never renew. I know I will never get a reponew from the Y or a partial refund from them with an apology for being so completely inept in their job.
Love this place. Excellent Facility ! Very Cooperative and helping Staff
Great place to walk on the trails out behind the building.
It's a good place for kids and parents
Love the Y!! Love the staff!!!
Super wonderful place with unbelievably nice people
Great facility but was really disappointed in how the staff acted during an emergency
We have had a membership of some sort since 2004. Our kids have all done swimming lessons here and the adults in the family have all used membership here for fitness purposes. As the years have passed the programs we could take advantage of have dwindled and the price of membership increased. As such we are down to having one of three children and no adults with membership now. We used to participate in weeknight and weekend member only swim times, kids did cooking classes, ball hockey, streetproofing, drop in care while adults did lane swim, open swim and used the fitness facilities. As a family we also used open gym times, tumbling mats, badminton etc. We miss the way the Y used to be, where members had private swim times, the way there were lots of programs for the kids to participate in every day and all weekend. Now the Y seems busy catering to all their camps and their members are hardly given a thought it seems. We were also very disappointed to have our son's membership "resume" during one of the lockdown lifts, so we paid for about six weeks of a membership he couldn't use. Hopefully swimming lessons resume this fall, however as soon as our youngest completes all of his lessons I imagine none of us will have Y memberships at all. While we will miss thrbY, and have many fond memories of times spent there, the cost/value comparison doesn't come out close to even. While I have always appreciated the safe environment of the Y they have priced themselves out of our range for sure. We have held many kids birthday parties here and those are awesome. I recommend them to everyone.
Great gym but needs better basketballs
Good. But they are late classes preparing.
Excellent facility. Limited by time but very well managed.
I love that place
Not a bad place to work out. Layout is a bit weird in the weights and machines, but the cardio section is great. Plus changerooms could use an update.
great place to bring the family
Wonderful place , very clean, well equipped, big clean pool, good size change rooms ,lovely staff, great instructors, good classes, open many hours, and expensive .
Family centered friendly environment
Family friendly environment, lots of classes and extras offered. Clean, the cleaning staff here is on their game! Friendly staff and volunteers. Definitely not the cheapest gym but worth every penny (or nickel) ;)
Good place for relax
Great centre
Reasonable gym membership pricing.
Just visiting this city and went to YMCA using my card let me in no problem nice facility only downfall is the long waiting lines at front desk not efficient staff for sure
Great place to go swimming and very good pool and sauna I had swimming lessons here years ago when I was around 12 I would like to try the takeout places here and excellent fitness room they have tv to watch while exercising I always use to watch spongebob a good variety of machines the zumba classes are great for people they are always kind to people and my sister enjoys it here quite often they could do a better job cleaning the changing rooms and in summer it can get way too busy I highly recommend this place if you're looking for something to do or exercise this place always helps families in need ????????
New equipment, awesome price.
Always friendly staff, detailed covid protocols
I love this place. Swimming area, tracks for walk, activities for kids. Awesome place
Lots of programs for all ages. Helped me get back on track after a serious health issue. The staff are friendly and helpful.
A great resource for our whole family. Clean and friendly. The swimming lessons are the best in the city, open gym for kids on Saturday mornings makes it easy for parents to work out, love the track on the mezzanine over the gym. Low income families can apply for a subsidized membership to access these great programs and resources too.
I enjoy playing Racquetball and Squash here. My family is really starting to use the facility more.
I love this place so much there staff is so kind and there is a life gard that inspires me is lauren she is verry kind and funny also they have other life gards that are nice also i love how clean the pool is and the change rooms are perfect also the best thing about it is there is open Access to the hole gym and there is softer in the water
Clean friendly evironment.
The Immigrant Services and Employment Services staff are amazing. Marcella and Maria are very knowledgeable and helpful. They deserve a lot of credit for their dedication to their clients.
Looking to keep kids busy? Several awesome programs and great staff
Friendly people & friendly staff :)
It's terrible. My friend was drowning and no one except one lifeguard was helping her. The others were just talking. In fact, my other friend was the one that pulled her out and helped save her life. YMCA is a great exercise center but they NEED to hire real life guards that would actually help others in need!!!!
The ladies who run the morning "Stay and Play" are amazing. My son wasn't really into it at first and it stressed me out, they reassured me he would get more comfortable and within a few weeks he was playing with the other babies. Thank you ladies!
It's a great place and I love playing basketball ???? There
My family really enjoy it here
Lots of options to be healthy, not crowded but overpriced!
Love the poke stops
Great workouts and things to do
Dance class is fun but kids zone can be upgraded a bit more some staff are rude and disrespectful I would rather forget about it. Change rooms sometimes smell bad and is old. They should upgrade the ymca a bit more and change the price because it is a bit expensive, but other than that some things are good and I hope a lot of people enjoy this ymca.
Nicest staff
Great and very helpful staff.
Great place to go with the family for exercise and programs. Bonus is that there is a library on site.
All of the staff at this ymca are so friendly and accommodating/understanding etc. The facility is always kept impeccably clean! My kids go for swimming lessons and I exercise here regularly. So involved in a positive way with the community as well. Love it!
Busy place. High rates if you are not sponsored.
Ive been to a few YMCA locations and one at Square One location is great with better amenities including coffee and razors for plus members.. I found it frustrating to apply there pool hours to my schedule at Chaplin Cambridge.. I simply use the pool to tread water in one spot and once the kids lessons begin as little as one single child in the pool and I get kicked out of the pool and there goes my cardio for the day..An Olympic size pool and an adult of 53 gets kicked out buy a teenage life guard and I make my way back to to change room with my tail between my legs powerless to have 3 feet of water during kids swim lessons. ... Nice treatment. .and I'm sure I'm not alone.. Big pool and people should not have to put up with belittlement.. Hopefully more comments should help with some more accommodating rules for all..
Very disorganized and dirty. We went for family badminton. There was NO staff watching over the games. There were toddlers rumming into our court. There were people kicking a basketball. There were people not moving off of their court to share. Equipment was damaged and shuttlecocks too. We asked where the table tennis was. Staff brought a table out and a group of kids stole it before we had a chance to start. It's a great facility but staff needs to take the reigns and make this great again. Staff came to take down badminton 32 minutes early. Run it like Waterloo guys. Organized. And no horseplay.
I have my son in day camp and he’s having a lot of fun
Perfect warm pool for little ones
Awsomeness is all I have to say . Highly recomend this location
The best place for the whole family
Good gym but about to need some major renovation.
can't wait to go back
Great place to play squash
Staff are wonderful. So friendly all the time and I am shocked at how many remember my name after taking one class. Such a fun community of people and it feels like all staff love working there. The gym is large and whenever I come there is more than enough equipment. Classes are a great workout and well balanced. I was surprised by how tough they can be.
Always clean.
The facilities are clean. Staff is friendly. The gym is actually very good, and air conditioned.
Really nice place to go to but really BAD staff work there, ive been kicked and blamed for 2 things that i didnt even do and they said they have camera proof that it was me but wouldnt show me or call the cops
Nice location but smaller workout area and have less number of machines
Very pricy for family swim.
Terrific centre with a nice pool, great exercise facilities, and lots of programs and classes. The monthly fee is very reasonable when compared to a gym like GoodLife and there are fee reductions for low-income families. Finally, a membership allows you to visit and sign up for classes at any YMCA in the region.
best place in the world ????????
(Translated) All services for newcomers to Canada and excellent service (Original) جميع الخدمات للقادمين الجدد الي كندا وخدمة ممتازة
Great programs for kids and lots of activities for the whole family to enjoy
A good gym, nice facilities and helpful staff
Very good activities and people !!
The quality of service at Cambridge YMCA has improved drastically over the past year. The staff is incredible. Matt is an awesome guy. I really enjoy going there.
Spoke to a back office staff member named Tanya F. Tanya was very compassionate. She listened to me. Understood my wants and needs. Offered advice. Found a solution to my dilemma. Tanya invited me to return back. Glad with the decision I made thanks to Tanya F's help and recommendations. Tanya F displayed exceptional customer service skills and professionalism. Explained all my options clearly. Most pleasant experience talking to Tanya F over the phone. Please take a moment to congratulate Tanya on her fine efforts. Thank you.
Great staff, great facilities kept in superb condition. Would like to see it open until 300pm on Sundays.
Disappointed that the Songs and Storytime class is cancelled. My daughter loved it. Now there's nothing much for my 6 month old to do besides her swimming class.
Great place
Really poor customer service. They made me pay to use the Aquatic Facility and it was open for only 10 minutes. I am very disappointed and irritated.
I have been going for years. The wife and kids love it. Its close to the home and staff are always friendly
Love the atmosphere and choice if equipment
Lifemark physiotherapy a+
I was very nervous to go because of covid. What a great relief it was to see how clean it was and incredibly careful everyone was. -Taking temperature before you enter -Have to make appointments -More than 6 ft distances enforced -Continual visible cleaning by staff -Everyone wearing masks -Those who had to remove were very far away from others -Definately safer than grocery stores -Pool with only few people each in own lane or area -Changeroom being cleaned constantly. Staff told me they also use machine to sanitize. I felt safe the entire time. Am looking forward to going again. They are all working very hard.
Awesomeand very friendly. Facility
Well mannered staff! Though pricey, they.have quality facilities that help in recreation! Children's place (dance, learning, and exercise) Teens place (study guides, sports, and video games) Adults! They are not discriminatory to any one at all Be you any religious background, race or physical\mental state they are loving and welcoming to all!
Great staff
Not over crowded like other gyms in the area. Has full range of amenities, classes and pool.
Great gym
We go every morning around 6am and spend about 30-60 minutes here. The staff are always happy to see us and willing to help solve any problems should they occur (very seldom is there an issue). They are always welcoming and very friendly
Amazing
Nice and clean
2 year member here - Hands down, THE BEST GYM in the area, and the best Y I have ever been to (that includes few in the US and the newly renovated Guelph location- they did a great job but Chaplin is still better). They really listen to member feedback and are always improving. Amazing full size lane pool with sauna, squash courts and variety of programs available to all members. Well equipped weight room, always clean and maintained; equipment is regularly reupholstered. What more could you ask for? If more places would operate like this, a world will be a better place.
nice clean facility ...staff was great
Variety of great classes, very friendly staff. Good treadmills, and decent workout machines.
Great friendly staff, nice community building.
Clean, well managed . My kids have been taking swimming lessons for years here.
Swimming lessons are meant to teach your child how to swim, NOT having near drowning experiences, almost every lesson. My son (7) has had the same incompetent instructor (who is lucky I won't say names) for nearly 6 months. Even after switching nights he got stuck with the same instructor and we were told he was he only one available. So now my son will be stuck not swimming for 30 mins, but going down the pole and paying in the small pool. I've already spoken to management twice about this and nothing has been done.
Every day new rules, they don't know what they are doing. It is important for them to take your money but the service is awful. It seems that they need to change the management composed of poor and miserable people.
Good experience.
Great equipment and facility. Most staff is very nice.
Cambridge Y lost its vision a long time ago. Now just a fitness centre posing as a charity in my opinion. Charitable works are minor relative to the overall operation. Rely primarily on volunteers and external donors to finance any charitable activities. Reading their Google reviews you can see they are perceived as just a fitness club by members. Sold out many years ago when they let Kitchener Y take over operations. If you have young children or teenagers don't expect much for them at the Y. Gatekeeper mentality, more concerned about controlling access than providing programs. Limited activities and not much open gym time for kids. The biggest block of gym time on the weekend is for folks who pay for birthday parties. I guess this is the Y version of charitable activity? Basically this is a high end fitness club for paying members. Front desk will make sure you scan your card if you don't have a certain "appearance". Forget about trying to find anything for your kids to do there on the weekend for any extended period of time. Either they will be too young, too old, youth centre closed, birthday party in gym etc etc. Y should have it's charitable status pulled in my opinion. Fee for service operation that doesn't value the youth in our community. United Way also provides significant funding to the Chaplin Y. For what? What charitable programs are these funds going towards. The Y charges for membership, swimming programs, daycare plus tax exemptions. . They don't need donations from the United Way. They have their own charitable foundation as well and solicit donations there as well. Over $700,000 sitting there. Maybe they will use it for something "charitable" someday? Likely will spend on new fitness equipment and pool repairs. They have their fingers in all kinds of funding pots but run things like a for profit high end fitness club?
The Immigrant Services Services staff receptionist are not helpful. When trying to get an appointment just to get some information they put me for long time and they are not trying to help too Its really wasted of time.
Amazing staff
Great low cost family place to get exercise
This Ymca is the worst place for your kids, the stuff are really rude with people.
Lots to do
Plus rooms are amazing. Very clean. Pool is perfect for lane swimming.
I just joined after not moving very much in the last three years due to cancer and numerous surgeries. The staff is very welcoming and super helpful.
Staff their kinda rude, nice place but the staff there is kinda rude, a lot of people have been saying that lately.
All of my kids have gone here for swimming lessons. They have good and patient teachers
Always clean and the staff are great
Great. I cant believe how many services are here.
My kids love YMCA, Cambridge. Staffs are amazing.
Nice family atmosphere. Friendly, helpful staff.
very clean because if Ana and a great staff. wonderful family atmosphere
Great pool, awesome lessons for the kids
(Translated) Excellent programs and attention (Original) Excelentes programas y atención
Fun... Great place for a birthday party.
Beautiful facility but way too expensive...unfortunately
Best place and encouraging staff ever
An amazing variety of ways they care for youth and immigrants etc.
My granddaughter enjoys her swimming lessons here ...they need smaller class or more assistants for the instructors
Great gym and very friendly staff
Nice place. Very big
Good family friendly facilities
Nice casual atmosphere with everything kept clean. Too bad the membership cost and day fees are so high. $13 for a day pass and $63 a month for a regular membership seems a bit high.
Rudest members and staff that do nothing. There are rules in place that members don't follow and staff don't enforce. The family change room is for parents of opposite sex of their child, yet you see both parents in there or the same sex parent in there. This crowds this poorly designed change room. The change rooms in the family room says not to leave belongings in the change room and to use a locker. Yet people "reserve" the change rooms by leaving all their stuff in it. Rules not enforced. Not enough showers... just poorly designed. Go look at Wilmont community centre's facility for the family change rooms. Those are awesome. Your change room is not. The mens change room then has fathers coming in with their daughters. Daughters who are not babies and shouldn't be in there. Rules not enforced. Signs say help keep the pool area clean and to remove shoes, all swimmers must have a soapy shower. Yet here we are with kids (and adults) coming out of the change room dry as a bone. Rules not enforced. I've watched swim instructors walk through the door to the cafe area with their flip flops on and back into the swim area with the same flip flops on. Good job keeping the pool deck clean! Rules not enforced. Suggestion is to pull down all your signs with the rules on it since very few follow it and the staff don't enforce it. I dont expect a response from anyone st tur YMCA since it seems they don't like conflict of any kind. Don't waste your time. There are better YMCA's out there and better facilities all around.
Excellent exercise program.
Best gym.
Swim and uh lift and they have judo
Great place for everyone
Moderately well kept
You have to be very careful with some of the classes. They are very intense and they can actually harm you, which I found out the hard way.
So Good
