They don't maintain their machines. Half of the number of machines on floor are broken or not in use. But they charge their members a maintenance fee. It seems they just pocket that money.

Very disappointed with the new $10 fee that is charged for being late for more than 5 min at the appointment. I mean really? I am still being charged the same monthly membership amount, but now I am being charged for being late to the appointment? This seems like a new COVID-19 revenue stream for the company. Ive been going to this gym for a couple of months now and I have to say it is a great place to work out. Everything is well organized and machines have instructions if someone doesn't know how to use it. The management was very helpful in picking the proper trainer to attain my goals. As for the trainer, nothing to say. Very determined and always ready to push you hard. Shout out to Jonathan. Thanks man.
This gym is so crowded that you have to wait 15-20 mins for every equipment...i have tried all different times morning, afternoon and evening, and still found it crowded...who are into working and need equipment readily available, this gym is not for you...i am really disappointed with this gym..i payed in advance for full year otherwise i would have been at a different gym...

The don’t have enough equipments, they used to have back arch, they removed, they had scales they removed. Some of the equipments broken and they toke them three to four months to fixed. During Covid the front desk was so employed But the price is good

Debora is one of those kind hearted and helpfull staff that I had a good experience with her, I totally recomend you guys to meet her for enrollment and presentation. Stay Pumped ????????

Facility itself is great and clean. but if you are trying to get motivated by signing up for the health transformation program. DON'T. When my first trainer left the location, he advised me that I was assigned to another trainer, and that trainer will contact me. Months later, nothing happened. Talked to 2-3 staff members at the desk over the months, all said they would put me to someone and that someone would contact me. NOTHING happened. A year after, i demanded for a refund. This trick always work. (WHY does it have to be like this?!?!??!) THIS TIME, they got me a trainer right away to go over my situation. ok, sure, i signed a contract saying the money is non-refundable. He offered me free classes to make up those missed sessions. Cool. Two weeks after my first session, and i asked to set up for another session. Only then he told me he got promoted and would no longer be at this location. and *I* should contact the gym to set things up with another trainer. If you want to get motivated, be motivated enough to motivate you trainers first. Customer Service is just terrible. ---------- received a call from the GM the day after. He apologized so many times. Really appreciate his offer to make things right again. thank you :) giving two extra extra stars.
Great gym if you are on a budget. Has all the equipment you need. However, it can get really busy sometimes, and wait times are long for equipments.

Good selection of weights and machines. Little wait times for machines. The only complaint is the change rooms are disgustingly dirty. The showers are full of mold,very dirty,and full of hairs.
Great atmosphere and amazing staff
Friendly staff overall but very bad system they have put in with taking out “no show” charges. Many times their computer glitches and takes out a payment. I always show up for my works outs and have never been late to my appointments but many times I got charged for “no show” fees. I wouldn’t recommend this gym to anyone unless you don’t mind paying unwanted fees.

Been requesting for a peck deck for some time but management doesn't seem to be addressing any of the customers' requests. There are a few machines/stations that are under utilized and seldom used. These can easily be replaced by the one machine that many regular customers have been asking for - a peck deck. I'll give this place a few months and if no response from management then I'll be moving my membership elsewhere.
Too small and the staff are disrespectful. I tried a tanning booth for the first time and the girl didn't care at all, told me it'd be fine. I'm Irish, so when I was finished I came out burnt and had the most intense and painful itching later on that night. I ended up cancelling my membership eventually and the staff was nothing but smirks and snickers. Staff needs to grow up mentally and stop pretending it's a high school hangout.

I am a member of the club, though haven't attended for a couple of months. Pros - very good ratio Price/Quality. Cons - usually overcrowded. But this a natural consequence of the mentioned Pro. One more issue - quite an amount of equipment sometimes is out of order.

It is quiet at Trevor Linden fitness club 16 in South Burnaby. I can use a machine for 3 sets in a row so I don't have to wipe it down in between sets. I think they are doing a great job with physical distancing and the cleaning. There is something about booking an appointment that motivates me to go.
People need to remind themselves that it's only $16 a month plus a maintenance fee in May of $30+. That is insanely cheap compared to the rest of North America to have a gym membership. If you don't like it then walk across the road and pay $50 a month plus signing a contract for a 2 year term. You get what you pay for people! Regardless of the cost, the gym is fine. Sure it gets crowded during peak hours and some of the machines are sometimes "out of order" but its not going to detriment your workout. I wish they had more squat racks though..
This place has no clean team. The men's washroom is disgusting. There is a lack of equipment by far, and they have poor grade equipment pieces.

Please do not waste your money and time in this place! Their booking system is awful, the gym is supper busy, if you’re lucky you may be able to book for 3 days in week which one week in advance! They still get new members, cause money is much better than people’s time! So the more they get new members the less would be your chance to book for day! If you miss your booked session, they’ll charge you 10 dollars! All sets are super busy, You may never get a chance to use them in a day! Personal trainers are rude to other members! I really have many many issues here, Whenever I come here I deeply feel looser who spent money for my membership

If you want an affordable gym membership, look no further. You can't beat their prices anywhere else. But don't expect to have any fitness classes. Clean facility/equipment and friendly staff.
My entire family, wife, two daughters, have been members since this location opened. The maintenance of equipment is spotty at best with basic equipment sometimes taking over a month to get fixed. Hi rate of popular bars having damaged or missing grips. Have also torn workout shoes twice on poorly maintained conduit in the cardio area. Both times told by staff basically “oh well kinda sorry”. Morning staff most days dailing it in. More concerned with morning lattes and continuously checking membership, if I scan my card and can count to 12 before the gate opens every morning, that’s insulting considering I go first thing in the morning 4-5 days weekdays plus Saturday. Equipment placement after cleaning could be better, if you get up from a piece of equipment and can touch another it’s probably two close. If you can touch a wall or mirror while on or using a piece of equipment, placement is probably not correct. I’ve also witnessed male staff twice in the last month trying to bully members over equipment they want to use as well as leaving plates on bars and simply walking away to do the same thing at another station,however that is a regular thing throughout this facility. Overall price is good, hours are good and lots of equipment how it actually runs has lots of room for improvement.
Overall a great gym, staff are very friendly, comfortable environment. Cost are unbelievable cheap compared to its competitors. 10/10 would recommend

I've signed up for both membership & personal training; For past the past couple of months I really enjoyed alternating between the She's Fit and Club 16 floors. Facility is always cleaned but I'd say some days might need an AirCon! It can get hot ! My personal trainer was Jonathan, he is a great pleasure to have around! He's helped and encouraged me a lot in my journey to better perform in weightlifting- especially for posture, form and settling into heavier weights. He's super positive ,energetica & is a fellow Leo~ He will push you when he believed you can do heavier and longer weights/reps, but also accommodates for any "off" days or alternate excercises if you have trouble performing in of the ones he gives you. Very patient and positive, good dude!

I used to workout here a lot before going over to the downtown location. This gym is a bit larger than that one so it deserves a higher rating in my opinion. My last workout here was over seven years ago.
I want to give 5 stars but until I found out the massage chair is only 10 minutes per day which is too short.

The gym is great????????, especially stuff and trainers. I started training with Johnathan and absolutely loved ????????each of my training sessions. I have a great trainer who truly understands my needs and knows how to motivate me. It is great to see progress through three months, thank you ????

Firstly, it is the cheapest gym you will find a membership for so you must keep that in mind, and really, all the downsides balance out because of the cost. So for the price, it's a four and a half star. However, I'm going to comment despite the great price. My biggest issues: - the weekend hours are so pathetic that I rarely make it there. I'd be at your door by 6:30 if you were open that early. I get that the shorter hours cost you less but 8-5 really is sad for a weekend. -the gym isn't being maintained well. Overall in the actual gym areas are not that bad, but it's everything else that is quite disgusting. The bathrooms, change rooms, tanning rooms etc are really gross -the staff are disinterested and often unfriendly On the plus side: -the gym doesn't smell at all -people seem to respect the "no judgment" thing which I love -can always get a machine (I go non-peak hours and avoid the January-resolution crowd at all cost) -there are almost always supplies for cleaning your machines -they have a whole lot of machines with lots of choices -a woman's only side- which I don't need but is great if that's your thing Bottom line, it's so inexpensive that despite the downsides it is still totally worth it.

Went for a visit. Clean place. The staff were helpful. It's more of a cardio gym. They could use more squat racks and some open space for HIT training.
Fancy facility
I've been working out at Club 16 for almost a year. I switched over from Steve Nash. I like the new upgrade to the gym they did recently. i just had a personal training session with Sunny. I've had a few trainers in the past but wow I have never sweat like this before. The different dynamic type of training kept me interested and didn't get bored. I look forward to booking more sessions with him.

This gym is clean, organised and the weights can be found on the racks all the time. The best part of the gym is the staff, they can be found cleaning something all the time. Most patrons are friendly and good to each other. Going there for few years and never had a problem. One big concern is the amount of time it takes to repair or replace broken machines in this gym.
It's $15 plus tax and a joining fee. Cheapest in town and a pretty friendly staff. What can you expect? Just join

I don't like to leave negative review, rather to provide feedback for systematic improvement!, Staff are generally friendly and helpful but there are some areas in the system that need to be improved. Seems the air conditioning is not working properly, and with the windows, there is not enough air flow which is very essential for physical activities as well as for the Coronavirus infection to not circulat in the gym. I am getting late/no show fines, despite I am making on time to the Gym, but need to line up for 10-15 minutes!!, They need to remove this penalty fee, it is just not working, and not everyone check their bank statements!, They sign up new members without adding space or equipment. You need to line up to use equipment too. They charge members an annual fee to enhance/upgrade equipment, but don't see any visible upgrade/enhancement. Sanitation is very poor, paper towels really not a good option for disinfecting equipment. They dry very fast and doubt to be effective to remove germs which is very essential especially during COVID. Hope someone read reviews and take actions and see some improvement.

I'm at the gym at least 4 times a week. The space is clean, and tidy. I love the hydro massage. It works wonder for my recovery before and after work outs. One thing I would suggest would to create an earlier opening on the weekends, or a later close to accomodate working people. Also, sometimes a few members of the staff don't really seem to be present in the gym. They greet you but that is about it. It would be great to have them circulate and check on the members if possible. It is obvious some patrons need some assistance or encouragement. That would really increase the activity at the gym. Also, a couple machines go unrepaired even though their is signage saying parts are on their way. It would be great to have this ammended, unless the machine is going to be unavailable indefinitely. Otherwise, this gym is welcoming. Clean and a great location. Thanks!

Good job team Club 16. Affordable yet, very well managed. The girls there have the best attitude. Great customer service and there’s always enough people to help if you need anything. They just stepped it up a notch with Covid rules. There are so many gyms out there that charge 4 times the price and ask you to bring your own paper towels and masks are “mandatory” but won’t do a thing if people don’t wear it. Club 16 is safe, they are respectfully strict, and i love how all members happily follow the protocols without a twitch
Gym can get pretty busy and people tend to spend 20+ minutes on certain machines. Hours are stupid.you can still get a quick workout in.. but not the best one Only reason i go is because of the cheap member fee’s.

Been with the gym just over a year now. We have not been able to get FULL use of our membership due to overcrowding in the gym. Very very few staff are polite. Scanned in yesterday to work out not knowing the gym was closing early, when going to the customer service counter to confirm if the club was closing the girl said yes, we had mentioned that it would have been nice to know when we had just scanned in no more than 10 mins before. to our utter dismay she turns to another staff member disregarding our comment altogether, shrugs her shoulders and starts laughing with another male staff member. This gym is not worth your money, and I am feeling completely let down that in the past year I have wasted money on a membership I haven't been able to get full use of. And when we do get a chance to work on a machine, the staff kick you off for private classes. I am a paying member and should have every right to use any machine whenever we need it, regardless of a class. I mentioned to staff 5 months ago of a broken elliptical machine that wobbles and is unsafe. After coming back into the gym, the same machine has had no repairs done to it. I guess the staff are waiting for an injury to occur before something is done. I will not be recommending this location to anyone, and feel we have been robbed of our money over the past year. Even when bank issues happen, the head office Staff member is very rude.

I asked the manager to have more handle bars at least 1 pair per station and she said that they were not responsible for that and I had to look for them on the other side of the gym, imagine in peak hour looking for something by the time I'mback i already lost my spot, why? they are supposed to provide all the necessary equipment to work out, this was a very poor response and even worse attitude, we are not supposed to look for a handle all over the place, each station has a box which sometimes is empty, teach this manager some of the 5's please and improve your gym thank you
Horrible customer service. I made advance payments with my debit card, 4, 5 months in advance and they went ahead and double charged with fees that come up to more than my annual fee altogether! Ridiculous! One manager says one thing the other says completely different thing!
Been going to this gym for a few years now.. It has a decent amount of equipment! If you wanna get a good workout best time to go is super early in the morning. It gets super packed in the evenings to the point there isn't any floor space! Nothing is worst than shooting your preworkout then going to the gym and being disappointed that everything you planned to do is in use.
In the weekend hours is very bad 8am to 5pm and holiday 7am to 2pm

edit: the manager actually got back to me that they're ordering more plates! surprised but delighted to have a request met. upgraded my review from 3 to 5 stars to reflect this; I really enjoy their facility otherwise. Decent equipment, not busy usually when I go. My only gripe is I sometimes spend upwards of 5 minutes searching for plates to reach the weight I need on the barbell: no one seems to put the plates back where they go, and usually the smallest plates (2.5lbs) are nowhere to be found. Pretty frustrating if I need to spend 5 minutes every workout trying to find two tiny plates! I'd love if there were more of these at this gym (I think there are only two sets)

It’s been over 2 months and I still have not received a key to enter the gym. This is quite frustrating because the customer service is absolutely horrible. You need to check in and check out on time to not get charged extra, however, half of the time, the staff forget to check me out and charge me even though they say they will take care of it. Do not waste your time or money at this gym. Good luck with your fitness journeys!

The staff and equipment are great but they don't keep the locker rooms clean. Several times I have seen a girl cleaning in there but they seem to only clean the sinks and dust the locker tops. Toilet paper vestibule are filthy so are the doors to change rooms. I mentioned it and was brushed off

It's easy to sign up for online over your phone no watching nor changing goes to me and me alone through they are beautiful one much more I have viens in myself that go directly to me. Absolutely terrible gym. Been a club 16 member for over a year and recently started going to this location. The system in which they allow people into the gym is outrageous. Consistently wait between 10-15 minutes just to get in when I am ALREADY BOOKED as they’re entry method is slow. The whole scanning process needs to be sped up as 1/4 of my workout slot time is just waiting to even get in. This needs to change as a faster sign in process is badly needed. Onto the staff they are always in a rush and do not welcome or greet you anytime you arrive. The South Surrey staff demonstrate excellent customer service and friendliness in comparison. As for the gym the lighting needs to be updated. After the sun goes down it’s so dark you can barely see what’s going on inside. The green tint warehouse lights need to go. I am overall disappointed with this south Burnaby location. Club 16 as a whole is much better than this. Staff here need to be trained better on customer service and a new method in getting people in faster without waiting needs to be addressed.
Location is always busy, they lack a lot of equipment (especially on the ladies side), if you ask a question it goes through 4 people before they get back to you with an answer - if they find an answer. Gave it a two because most of the staff is really friendly and it's a super cheap membership. Gets the job done, although I'm starting to prefer the rec centre.
Most of the machines are out of service ,or under repair for long time ,and dont have some of the important machines.
Good variety of machines! Only problem, it's DARK (dark walls, less lights) and less mirrors. ☹
just too many people in a small place. not all people wipe their sweat off of the equipments when they are done. i think better to enforce this more. they have a girls area but not equal equipment to the mix area. still good. has water dispenser which is awesome. lockers are available with your own locks. has showers too but limited. weighing scal inside girls bathroom. barbells and dumbbells are available as well.
I was signed up for 2 months before the membership card was ever ready for me. I would always get excuses on why my membership card wasn't ready yet. When I was told it was ready and went to get it. Then magically went missing I still don't have one but I gave up after while. I would just give my info each time. I have had this membership for a long while and couldn't use it much sadly. I tried to cancel this long ago. The contract said you need written notice however aparently those don't get processed if you drop them off. You actually must do it through email. Or they are supposed to just get you to sign an ipad on the spot to cancel. I learned this from the head office who told me that they were aware it was miss leading. All this miss information resulted in alot of charges. Now the month to month i can understand but that said when I signed up I was promised after my sign up fee all I would pay is my normal 2 times a month never changing price. No hidden fees. However I have been charged renewal fees upgrade fees etc for something I haven't even used in months. Charges are even sneaking in right during my cancellation. It's funny getting the hope you come back email after being totaly miss lead and getting an additional $30 charge on top of the other 2 30 days worth of charges you need to pay for the month well you wait for the cancellation. But at least it's done soon. I also noticed when I first started that some of the staff seem to have a bit of an attitude.....to bigger people. I would have chalked it up to paranoia, if my super fit brother wasn't with me each time. Started right after signup(signup guy was nice, first person we met with to discuss goals was were it started) I was there right next to him literaly beside him. Similar questions. We hava almost same attitude, mindset, everything but we both were getting treated by same people very differently. Now i do think people should decide for themselves and maybe I was just unlucky. Butttttttt just hit me as off. Their were a few factors why I stopped going but not feeling comfortable there was one. So heads up.

Don't expect an amazing workout when you go after 3pm as it is extremely packed. Don't expect to use the monkey bar/cable area with TRX as they don't let you use it when they run their classes. So it's basically never available

Clean gym - gets busy in peak hours (5-8 on weekdays, 12-close on weekends). Only has two squat racks, 2 bench racks, but 7 bars to use for deadlifts or presses you need. Dumbbells go from 5 - 100lbs. Lots of cardio machines, and room for stretching/circuits/etc...
A bit too crowded and packed. Maybe they should limit their hourly max capacity even more.

Cost: It is cheep membership per month, only $15. Registration fee is about $100. Assessment fee (mandatory) is about $100. Cancellation fee is $75. If you not planning to stay this gym more than 55 months, your monthly fee will be over $20/ month. Equipments are old, treadmills are not working sometimes. 50% of the machines are working average. They don't have "perfume free" policy. So if you have any allergy or sensitive about smell, I don't recommend here. Especially female's section. Staffs are friendly but not working hard. They are there to chat with co-workers. If you are looking for cheaper gym than community centre and you are not sensitive about odour, membership more than 55 months, Club16 is for you to register.
Best place in town to work out. You'll find all the equipments you need for your workout and also so spacious. The best thing about them is how much they will charge you monthly. Guess what it's only 18$. Cheap right !!. I have been working out here for the last two years and am a proud member. Keep up the good work guys...
Great location. After work out i can go grocery shopping. Go for coffee at startbucks. Liquor store. Shoppers Drug Mart.
I have tried calling to cancel my membership for a few weeks, sent an email like they say to do and they are STILL not cancelling it. I have to go in but I don't want to since all I ever see is a group a staff at the desk making fun of the members.... some good staff but most are horrible. Do not reccomend.

Overall, I have had a very positive experience at Club16 Burnaby. Special thanks to my fitness trainer Debora. I greatly appreciate her follow-up and instruction methodology. Customised workout plan is helping me greatly.
This was a good gym for the time that I spent there. The nice thing is the price comparable to most other gyms and the decent range of equipment and weights. Here's the problem: if you'd like to work out hard and not be harassed, you'd be better off going to another gym. For some reason, the demographic that attends this gym has a huge issue with any amount of noise you might make during your workout and there will be constant complaints if you are too loud. This is ironic considering that I can hear the music through my earphones, and there is a constant array of sounds coming from all sorts of equipment: people deadlifting and dropping the bar, treadmills, stairmasters. Exactly the type of sounds that you would expect from a gym, right? Apparently not, because if you make too much noise for the people there you will indeed receive complaints. I don't think that anyone going to work out should have to worry about being harassed like this.
Tuesdays are the best day to work out it's not busy on Tuesdays..
Hey everyone I REALLY DON'T RECCOMEND THIS PLACE, IT'S JUST WASTE OF YOUR MONEY... I do exactly agree with Branden. This gym doesn't worth a cent even. We were coming to this gym about 2 or 3 years. As well as rude manners of this new manager which tries to kick you out politely when have an issue with them, they just want to empty your pocket. Im writing this to those who don't know , when you cancell your membership plz save the cancellation papers at least for 1 year cause u never know they might charge you again. Last August i cancelled my membership and went away from the country after 6 months came back although my yearly membership was up to February and i came back on March they were still charging me without any renewing my membership with them. I asked why you guys were charging me while i was in a cancellation time , the lady said you must show the CANCELLATION papers to prove it. I said i didn't know that after 6 months i should have had them still.!!!! However im a member of YYOGA now , any time i have an issue related to anything they send me emails. In another session when they didnt follow up I went there again and the YOUNG RUDE manager came to me for help and told me you should bring the papers otherwise we cant do anything and i promise cause of this for next time you would come for a new membership i will give you a good deal. I said i want my money back cause i went to the bank to close my account they told me you owe money and it was all Club16 and i told him i wanna know why you guys didnt email me while i was away and my account was Zero and nothing went through.!!! Then what is that EMAIL for , in the registration form that i has written. And at last the lady said lets cancell it now. She cancelled it and now after 3 months with no follow up again from them, they has sent me a letter that i must pay them $ 198.41 which means the payment of one year!!!!!!! I paid the bank and now again i ought to psy them!!!! That's RIDICULOUS!!!! Me and my husband went to the gym again this evening to talk to them , again another receptionist was there , he refused connecting us to the manager and couldn't help us even and was busy with phone and other customers , gave us hid card and we left. I decided send an email to the email address was in my letter. 2 times i tried and it didn't go through and it is saying this message is blocked and can not be sent to this email. Such a big shameful for a big corporation that the email even is not valid. They just charge you for nothing as Branden mentioned in his review the mashines are mostly doesn't work properly and it takes time to be fixed and the CUSTOMER SERVICE is relly weak. They are young and inexperienced people whom dont know how to cooperate with a member. Specially the Manager. I really dont recommend this place. Its a wast of money.
Working out with personal trainer Sunny. Putting me through paces that really challenge me. He uses custom exercise movements to incorporate your entire body. Best health club I have ever been a member of. clean, excellent staff, every machine, weight, rack, bench, cardio machine you will ever need. I am slowly transforming my flabby old 60 year old body with better eating habits and regular exercise into a healthy longer lasting machine!!! January 1 -> February 15th - stay tunes for updates
A staff member "Debora" helped me out with touring the gym, registering and deciding a plan for workout sessions here. She did a hella awesome job making the process chill for me yet keeping it professional throughout the time I was working with her and I honestly don't think I'm ever going back to one of those community centre gyms ever again. This is the first and probably only dedicated gym I plan on signing up with for a long time because of first few impressions I've had here so far. I can't friccin wait to start coming here often ????
The place is spacious and has plenty of equipment for the price you pay. The only critical problem is that it is ALWAYS busy, making it extremely hard to finish a workout without wasting an hour walking around waiting. I wish they would offer week-long trial runs as this would be apparent. The rep told me this is the busiest it has been when i signed up. It was not busy at all and i feel very mislead because that was the least busy day ive been there.
they need to get rid of some cardio and put in some more weights...the cardio machines are half empty while the weight stations are always full
this is a great gym! i've been going here ever since i was a teen and i didn't feel intimidated at all as a first time gym goer. the staff are very helpful never had any problems. i will continue coming here :) hopefully someday you guys will become a 24 hour gym!!

It's a very good gym with good facilities overall. I have been in different places and have been a member of various one's but I'm too glad to have come here,mainly because I met my fitness trainer Debora Mindrut. She is a bright young woman whom you can totally rely upon for any of your fitness goals. A very result oriented individual as she is, the fitness plans she makes for me is not only beneficial but is also very much fun going along with.It is planned stage by stage and well instructed so that you surely reap the benefits. She frequently follows up by messaging regarding work out sessions and for any querries that I may have.

Always too busy, usually long waiting for every equipment and also not so clean. There are some equipments that barely people use them once a month and on other hand they're missing some important machines like chest fly machine. Staff are nice, friendly and usually helpful.
I am a member of this location and I'm Really enjoying during my time when do my exercise. This place is the best and convenient for me. And its clean with excellent and professional staff.
Only 2 benches, they need to add more.
The equipment is amazing. I have great workouts there. My pet peeves is people that don't wear their face mask properly and people sitting on equipment chatting or texting on their phone. I don't know how many times I've seen staff walk by people wearing their masks in properly and not say anything. Still a great gym????

The staff in Burnaby is pathetic as compared to downtown.
The gym is clean and well organized. There are a ton of cardio machines and plenty of weights for a good work out. The staff always makes me feel welcomed and I never feel intimidated to work out at this location.
I do not typically leave negative reviews as I understand my experience could be a one off and these businesses are doing their best. Secondly, what I'm about to share has no impact on this location but Club 16 as a whole. I, like many, stopped going to the gym when the pandemic hit. Club 16 suspended payments which was awesome and I appreciated that. In the summer, I noticed that they had begun withdrawing payments (3). I contacted them to express concern I was not made aware these would restart. I also was concerned that I received no warning that payments were to be resumed unless I requested the freeze to continue. The representative said that Club 16 advised their customers via Social Media and through email. I explained that I do not follow them on Social Media and when I asked what email they had on file, the representative said that I didn't have any email on file. She also indicated that this was my fault even though this was not discussed when I first signed up over 5 years ago. I first emailed my concern on July 16. In total, I have sent 9 emails and made several calls. I was assured that I would be contacted by a manager. This manager called me once and when I returned the call, no answer. She called me the following day and said she would call me within 30 minutes as I was finishing dinner. I did not receive a follow-up call. I called the telephone number once again and still have not received a callback. I have emailed the representative as I haven't received resolution through telephone. She advised me she would re-escalate. I have not heard from anyone since then. I also emailed the rep on October 10 and October 27 and still no response. Based on my experience, Trevor Linden Club 16 has no desire or interest in resolving the concerns of long-time customers. They also look to put blame on their customers to absolve their processes of any fault or issue. Aside the fact that they've left a customer concern go unresolved for almost half a year, they decided to charge me an annual maintenance fee while I am trying to resolve this issue. I will be cancelling this membership, not due to the staff at the High Gate location or the facilities, but because they show zero willingness to support their customers through issues they've experienced. I hope this review helps you choose your exercise facility. If general courtesy or customer support is important to you, I'd suggest avoiding this business.
Great value and staff so it will usually be busy, but there are lots of great stations to work at and a variety of weights and equipment to use.
I go here on occasion when my main gym isn’t open or I can’t make it downtown. The gym has quite a bit of equipment and everything that you need to get a solid workout in, whatever that may be. The downside is that this place gets busy frequently so being able to get access to the benches is tough. The machines also seem to break down frequently and require maintenance. While there are some items that are getting turned over, the cardio equipment is pretty old and some don’t fully work (TVs broken, screens don’t work, shaky treadmill belts, can’t connect modern phones for music/video because of no Bluetooth support). It’s a good price for the gym if you can get the Elite version at a discount.

I know these reviews are supposed to be mainly just customers/members, but I’m a rep at this location and I just wanted to say that I absolutely love my job. I love how this company truly cares about not only their members but their staff as well. I feel like putting this out there is important because the staff of any place reflects on to the service that gets provided. It’s always an encouraging place to be, and they genuinely want to see you succeed. They’re always helping the team to be more like a family and helping each other to be better. And honestly having a staff that is always uplifted and encouraged it rubs onto all our members, you can feel the energy when you’re in the gym. Also, I don’t think I’ve had a manager like this before I feel like I can openly come to him for help in any situation. I LOVE teaching the classes, I LOVE being able to help others with their fitness journey, I LOVE meeting new people everyday, and I LOVE Club 16 South Burnaby!
Not their best location. Equipment constantly broken. Their benches are super lose (screws are lose and it’s borderline not safe) - told the staff and no one gives a damn. Had some machines out-of-order for 2-3 months now. Community gyms fix this way quicker and cost much less.

Great people great gym. Come early morning or before closing and you'll be sure to avoid any crowds. Please open earlier on weekends and close later as well. Otherwise good value gym.
If you join, make sure to do a trial run first. At the time of joining they didn't have enough workout benches to share with everyone in the gym. Had I tested out their facilities for the week, I would've noticed this shortage. Even going during slow hours (10-2) or (7-close), there was never any room. Also, don't pay for the year ahead of time if you plan to cancel. They will take half and wont give you a receipt or break down of fees they are charging you for cancelling. Do the month to month payment plan. Also, the fitness assessment is NOT A REQUIREMENT regardless of what they tell you (this is an up sell technique). Good if you like going on cardio equipment, there's lots of that but I'd rather go outside. For me a gym is where you go to 1)lift weights 2)use equipment you don't have at home
They have all I need. It had its busy times like any gym, but I always find room and space for my own workout. They could probably use additional space since it's getting cramped. They do have a wider space than GoodLife though. Price is great as well. Check it out.

Although my trainer left and I fell through the cracks for awhile, the manager did set things right and I was assigned to Dimitri. He was awesome! Very knowledgeable, pleasant, enthusiastic to work with!! I would recommend.
Excellent Facilities and knowledgeable staff. Very clean and never too busy. Very affordable and they have a great personal training deal if you sign up right away. I took personal training with Rachon and it was awesome! He was very knowledgeable, attentive, and flexible with my schedule. Very responsive and easy to communicate with. He knows the fine line of pushing you to your limit but not too hard so that you would exhaust yourself. Highly recommended as a personal trainer.

Adrain is a really helpful staff. Since I would be staying here for only two months, he patiently helped me figure out the time I was supposed to submit my membership cancellation notice. Besides, he spent time helping me with the equipment at the 30 minutes workout zone. Thank you, Adrain.

Busy in January but lots of free weights to use
Before the pandemic I was happy with this gym. Which is the only reason that it's getting 2 stars at this time. Aside from the fact that they lost my banking information 3 times, they are clean and it is a nice atmosphere. Post pandemic however is a different story. I'm still being charged for the elite package but have no access to the elite package amenities that I signed up for. I understand why they are cut off, but I shouldn't be charged the same rate. I also don't agree with a $10 charge for missing or being late for a 1 hour appointment. First of all the charge is higher than some members bi-weekly rate. Second, if I get called in to work last minute or wake up sick that's not something I can help but yet I'm going to be charged for it? It's not a doctor or massage appointment, I'm prepaying for the gym. In fact I'm over paying for it now. I never signed a contract agreeing to all these changes, however I am still holding up my end of the deal. Very disappointed.
Cheapest gym that I'm aware of and decently well equipped
Fitness facilities are notorious for poor customer service and I've experienced some of that myself first hand over the years. I have to say, I am surprised at the level of exceptional customer service provided to me by Club 16 North Vancouver Manager, Shaun Shiozaki. I have been a member for 4+ years and loved working out in the facility until I got very ill last year and had to suspend my membership. Not only did he kindly do this for me, he offered to honour my original rate until I was healthy enough to return. When I had to change my date of return a second time due to a slow recovery, he offered to help again by extending credits for when I was ready to return. Wow. Just wow. This type of service is unheard of - especially when someone simply offers them to you. No requests or begging on my part. Just a sincere gesture of kindness on his part. Thanks so much, Shaun. I can't wait till I'm ready to get back to my regular workouts at your amazing facility again. Cheers, Pat.
Absolute 10/10. Would hit the weights again! I have been a member since 2015. Gym is always clean and organized, equipment is well-maintained and in proper working order. As a member you always feel treated with respect. The staff is beyond friendly and more than capable of assisting you with anything you may need while visiting. I have been to many gyms in the area and this is without a doubt the BEST!

Stay away. They will continue to take money from your account even if you cancel. Zero customer service, the staff are too busy talking to eachother. Head office is worse, they just keep transfering your call to voicemails that never call back. Took me 2 months just to change my credit card information. I wish I could rate this -1

I've been going to this gym for over 4 years now. The price is definitely right. However there is a LOT wrong here as well. Staff are there in presence only. They usually are talking to or flirting with each other. Not very friendly or helpful at all. Machines will go unrepaired for weeks at a time. Certain members will sit at a machine up to half an hour just on their phone, not working out. And usually yelling on speakerphone. Staff never seem to notice or don't care. Any questions about services won't receive answers you will just be told to make an appointment for a consult. They have recently got more machines and newer equipment but much is to be done here. Obviously needs much better management. All in all other then the price, not a great gym at all. I only stay a member for price and convenience. Fingers crossed things here will improve but not optimistic.

Cheap gym but comes at a cost. It is always busy and there is not enough equipment, bad use of space in my opinion. Always have to wait for equipment, a 1hr workout turns to a 2 hr workout with all the wait time .
Checked out a few other gyms before this one and can definitely say that Club16 made me feel the most comfortable. The staff is very friendly and approachable!
Mediocre gym.
I love that it opens at 5am during the week so I can get my workout done before heading to work. Most of the staff are friendly and they try to arrive on time to open, Sometimes, items are left behind and left for weeks in the lockers so I’m not sure if the staff checks every night before closing. Also sometimes when I go in the morning, weights and kettle bells are left in the middle of the stretching area and can become a tripping hazard
i signed up online and yet they conveniently left out the fact we’d either have to buy their bottled water or drink bathroom tap water. they also failed to mention that females were allowed purses but men not allowed bags for some bizarre reason. will be going back to SNFW soon as it reopens. nice clean club also seems to have stocked up on more machines since my first go around with them.

Worked out at this location while I was visiting family in BC and the staff was very friendly and helpful. One of the staff members, Debora, was especially welcoming and showed me some new techniques that help me target specific muscles! Would highly recommend this location!
This gym is a joke—small and busy, VERY limited pieces of equipment. You are better off just buying some equipments from Walmart and working out from home. (This is how bad this establishment is).
I've been going to this gym for years, and while I love it, there's definitely some things I would change about it. First off, the pros: it's cheap. There's tons of machines and a good variety of them. Staff are always friendly and willing to help you out when you need it, either with the machines or with administrative stuff. Cons: the hours!! Only open until 5 on the weekends?! This is crazy to me, and it's the reason I have to pay drop ins at other gyms in the city if I wanna squeeze a workout in on Saturday/Sunday. Fridays, it's open until 9. Many people work weekends nowadays and it just seems that the hours of this gym are set to convenience that staff more than the customers. Also, there's a few machines in the woman's area that are in need of some updating. The smith rack is almost always in use, while some of the resistance machines are NEVER in use. Taking out these machines and putting in another smith rack or actual machines that you can set a weight on would definitely make this place better. 80% of the time, someone hangs their towel on the smith rack or puts their bottle next to it to "reserve" it while they do exercises next to it, which is unbelievably annoying. Having more than one of these in the woman's area would be nice. Overall, the gym itself is great if the hours fit with your schedule. I've considered switching to another gym just because of the weekend hours of Club 16. Even if it was open until 7 or 8, I'm sure it would make a huge difference to many of the customers. Gold's Gym Burnaby is a 10 minute drive from this place, and they're open until 11pm at night weekdays, and 8pm weekends, so if you're like me and work 12 hour days, Gold's might be a better option for you. It's a shame because I really love Club 16 but their hours are just awful.
When I went to sign up Jamal was very friendly and attentive as he approached me right away. He made the sign up process very easy and told me about the classes that are offered there. The classes were super cool! Club 16 is great and isn’t as busy in the mornings either which is a plus.
I've been a member for years, I've always received great customer service and the gym is alway clean.
I asked before I join in with a premium membership if I could bring a guest every now and then like my friend and his wife does, I was told I can bring it. And when I brought my guest for the 2nd time I was told that they can’t allow this to happen anymore because apparently they have to be 30 km away. I just didn’t like this way of communication. It’s like their only worry was to get me signed up even if they had to lie and tell me oh I can bring a guest
This Trevor linden has the worst customer service at any gym I have ever dealt with. I first initially tried to call to have my membership cancelled. No answer after several attempts. I then emailed them which it said to do on there answering service. They still charged my account so I went in to talk to someone and they said they would take care of it. An I looked again this morning and they’ve charged me again. Horrible customer service. I Highly recommend not going to this gym. Since initially trying to cancel they charged me three more times plus another random fee. No one ever got in touch with me just charged me a few times
I’ve been at Club 16 Highgate for over a year now and decided to work with a personal trainer, Jonathan (Jojo) Gonzalez. I’m a beginner to weight training and was just doing my own training and learning by watching YouTube videos. I unfortunately created an injury by not lifting using proper form. Ever since I decided to work with Jonathan not only as he educated me on form, but he’s work along my side with my injuries and setbacks and taught me to have patients with my injuries and recover first. Jonathan waited until I felt better with my injury and designed a workout that helped me reach my goal. We continued to work together and he’s helped me get stronger and stronger and see the results I’ve wanted to attain in a informative professional manner. Working with someone who’s very knowledgeable and energetic, yet empathic when needed, has just made my workout experience heighten! I couldn’t be more grateful to cross paths with such a trainer that’s just as invested in my goals as I am! Cheers me when I hit my highs and is firm with me when he knows I can push harder. When you find a trainer that helps you obtain your goals with his guidance and is just as happy if not happier when you achieve them, it’s great team work! I highly recommend Jonathan and want to add all the staff and management are amazing and make you feel like they are there for you! I don’t write reviews, but my experience with Jonathan has been positive and I want to share that with others who may need that mentor to just give them that little extra to achieve there fitness goals! ????
There is a mandatory "Fitness Assessment" meeting when you sign up. It's $30 + tax, it takes 25 minutes where they measure your weight, print it off and give it to you, then spend the other 24 minutes trying to convince you to pay an additional $20/month for them to check in with you from time to time. They will not do anything for you in this mandatory meeting, it's a money grab. I asked for any tips, they said to get my lunch costs down by 1 dollar a day to justify paying the gym the additional $20/month. I was very offended. There is also a $40 annual fee payable in May.
This is the best gym mainly because of my trainer Sunny . He has helped me go down to my target weight and is extremely knowledgeable. He supportive and always checks up on you even if you don’t have a class with home to make sure your on track he is best trainer I have ever had and he is super friendly.

I going to sue them. When they reopened during the pandemic, they didn’t email to us the members know and they just zapped money from our accounts. I tried to call, visited, and email to cancel my membership and they wouldn’t do it and continue to zap money from my account.
Update August 2 over three months and still no replacement All you need to know about this gym is that the only leg extension machine they have has been out of service for over two months and the equipment never get cleaned up and are rarely maintained
Great atmosphere very helpful staff good equipment
Ive been going there periodically since September 2018, but I came back and have been seriously training the past 6 weeks. The staff is very helpful, and the gym has a very open environment. However the only con I find is that it is very busy considering the area it is located.
I love coming to club 16 on Kingsway not only because they have the best facilities in the city but mainly because of the amazing staff! Micheal is doing an amazing job managing the place. If your looking for a safe and friendly workout environment I deffinitly recommend signing up with them
Because of the pandemic I have been freezing my wife and my membership every 2 months for the last year. I finally decided to cancel my membership last month. One month later I received a email saying I owe them $30 for maintenance fees for each membership and if I dont pay them in 7 days they may add a $21 dollar fee . I phoned club 16 to inquire about this email, they said in order to cancel my membership they had to unfreeze it first and that is why they charged me. We have not used the gym in over 1 year .this is no way to treat people that have lost there jobs during a pandemic They would not fix the problem. Tomorrow I will call the better business bureau. Beware , stay away from club 16!!!
Great value! ???? I have always been satisfied with any Club16 branch I’ve visited. However my only concern would be to see some sort of disinfection protocol for the shower areas. The mats get germy and I believe I caught a foot fungus which took months to clear ????. Can’t prove it of course but I suspect It was from the dirty shower mat. Maybe a bottle of disinfectant for every stall??

Originally I had a bad experience, however after having talked to Manager whom was very professional and apologetic, I have decided to give the club another go, and if it delivers to the promises, I will rate a higher rating.
For some reason they haven't canceled my mememember even after I have asked them many times. Evey month they have taken money from me. Unbelievable! Honestly it's such a scam. I don't think I will even be able to get my money back .
It's ok, been a member for a while now. Staff do not seem very knowledgeable and kinda seem like they are somewhere else. Prices are very reasonable. The hours of operation are the worst. Seems clean enough and I haven't encountered any gym douches.
Been a member since 2014. Staffs are pretty much useless but the facility is large and have lots of equipments. However lately it has been way too busy and there’s always something that is broken. Its been a good ride but will change gym
I have been working out at Club 16 South Burnaby since It opened and have always enjoyed taking the scheduled classes. The change to having dedicated trainers is great and I appreciate that both Dimitri (evening classes) and Tawar (morning classes) are always prepared with a plan to challenge us. They keep it interesting and fun and take the time to get to know everyone in the class. Well done!
Was very easy to sign up and become a member but due to current situation I haven't been to the gym as it is an unsafe atmosphere. They won't stop billing me even though I haven't visited there gym since before the pandemic. stay far away from the gym and stay safe
I should post pictures, but they won't be for the faint hearted, shockingly appalling conditions unless you enjoy filth & decay! ...From Very limited equipment (still no pecdeck in most locations etc!), to un-fit ignorant extremely Lazy staff, filthy unkept evrything-dressing rooms constant broken washrooms & equipment (shake bottles being left lying around rotting for weeks!), & the few machines they have are Always broken... We joke about the ghastly burnaby location but really its no laughing matter...I guess mr Linden is busy making sure his useless cunucks attempt to squeak into the playoffs to worry about his gyms! I go there Only because its the closest gym near me, but Wow they could use a major overhaul from their management on! On a brighter note, after going to Every location I found 2TWO friendly staff members (at the downtown location, sorry bunaby) who seem slightly knowledgeable! Good job Trevor, but please fix your forgotten Burnaby location, its treated like the neglected middle child, undeniably the worst kept maintained and supplied of ALL locations!
Always good and they clean it regularly. 1hr workout max due to covid-19. Just clean up after yourself before and after workout.
I have never left a negative review before, but I wanted to share my experience so far. Signed up in March and received 2 'no-show' charges even though I showed up. They told me it would be credited to my account, but it has yet to come through. Staff never answer the phone - very frustrating, especially because there's always several employees at the sign-in desk. Also, the staff that I have spoken to have not been friendly. Never seen a smile from one of them. They seem to be very judgmental which is the WORST for a gym. PROS: They have several pieces of equipment. Bathrooms are always clean. Spray bottles and paper towels are readily available. Lots of mat space in She's Fit. Overall, not the best place for a starter gym or if you need to boost your confidence - you definitely won't get it from the employees.
Stand in line for 10 minutes to get into a booked work out gym, get charged 10$ for a no show fee and they cant reverse it, Gyms are a joke now
I’ve been to the Surrey, Vancouver, and Coquitlam branch but by far the best, in terms of costumer service, goes to South Burnaby. The customer service at this gym is superior. Jason, one of the sales rep at South Burnaby gym, conveys nothing but passion and enthusiasm towards his clients and members in the gym. So if anyone has any questions or fitness tips about working out Jason is the guy to see. P.S. Please get heavier dumbbells and a pecdeck for this gym, thank you!
My five star review of this Club 16 location is given deservedly, as it has exceeded my expectations, since I became a member in June. The atmosphere is always genuinely welcoming, the staff is friendly and it is unbelievably affordable. I have not experienced a single problem with this gym, or heard about anyone who has. It beats every other gym I have been a member with! I also wanted to recognize Deborah! She was the Sales Rep who provided all the details about memberships, answered all my questions and helped to familiarize the layout when I signed up. My shout out is not just for the awesome first impression, it's also great connecting with her whenever our paths cross at the gym. She is a model of excellent customer service!
I joined the gym few months ago. Me and my sister like the group exercises a lot. Synergy 360 is our favourite. it has the right level of intensity and variety in a short period of time. We have been taking the class with Adrian who took it very seriously and always came prepared even when there was only two of us to attend. I am disappointed to hear he has been reassigned to another position but i would like to say thank you! We are working out with a new instructor now, Dimitri, who is energetic and push our limits its just awesome. i would really encourage ppl to give the group exercises a try.
Pretty good gym for the price. There are lots of cardio machines but the weight lifting side gets packed at busy times. The hours on the weekend are terrible. Closing at 5? Seriously?

I can’t say I would attend this gym, and am currently looking for a new one. I’ve been going to gyms all my life with no complaints, but this location is wildly incompetent. 1. They increased fees with little warning to handle additional costs for cleaning during the pandemic. I don’t mind paying more, but I haven’t seen any improvements from the surcharge. The hand sanitizer is nearly always empty, and is no where near the weights. They don’t even have a bottle near the exit to sanitize before leaving the gym. 2. They have 2 spray bottle areas for the entire gym which leads to waiting to use them, standing next to people. 3. I’ve been charged multiple times for missed workouts when I was there. And they won’t refund you but will give you credit. 4. Despite pre-booking, you’ll be forced to wait 15 minutes in line to get in, with people who haven’t booked. 5. They allow people to walk around with their mask around their chin. Understandably, attending a gym is a personal choice, so you can’t be that picky about people’s behaviour, but what’s the point of having a mask mandate if it isn’t enforced. Frustrating having to wear one when half the people there don’t care to; it defeats the purpose for those who do comply with the gym’s rules. 6. Staff is generally rude. The gym is a service industry at the end of the day. Would be good business to at least have manners. 7. Only 3 squat racks. Will often have to wait to use these and most equipment. On the positive side, it’s inexpensive and there’s always parking. These are easy fixes and would be happy to attend this gym in the future if it’s addressed. But I would rather support a gym that puts in effort and show they care about running a gym.
*MISLEADING and SCAMMY CUSTOMER SERVICE* I went to the location to register and was signed by Harneet. the first thing I told her was “I only want to register if you guys allow me to pay on the go without having payments automatically get deducted from my credit card”. She said “Yes we can put your credit card as a method of payment just to finish the form and you can pay with your debit card for one month plus two free month we have right now until September”. Two days ago I receive an email notifying me that I have a $9 payment I need to pay or i will get charged an extra fee after 7 days. I was astonished that they have put my credit card for use and have been charging me six payments, and when I am trying to reach out to a manager to look into it no one seems to be returning my calls or emails. I had to go and pay to close my account and they didn’t even bother compensating for the horrible and misleading service I received . I asked the front desk for a copy of the contract and nowhere in it have I given authorization for my credit card to be used.
The girls at the front are always talking????. Very rude sometimes and they think they are all that because they work at a gym.
For current members: Check your credit card statements, as they have charged me 4 for missed appointments even though I was there. For prospective new members: beware that they have issues with their log in system, which is what dictates whether or not you get charged for missing an appointment or not, which in turn leads to you being charged for missing appointments despite being there. Gym itself is pretty good, lots of machines but slow to fix broken ones. Numerous issues with their sign in system and charging late fees despite not being late, and after raising the issue with staff multiple times it continues to occur.
These people are crooks that run a very shady business. DO NOT GO TO THIS GYM! I have been trying to cancel my membership for weeks, and have been given the run around. I was told I had to come in to cancel my membership although I am out of town and unsure of when I will return. It wasn't until 3 weeks after that point I was told all I had to do was send an email. It has been over a week since I sent TWO emails and still no one has sent me what I need to cancel my membership. I finally received an email that the manager wants to talk about my options..? They are still trying to sell me on this place AND still charging me after expressing my want to cancel over a month ago. I shouldn't need to look into legal options to get a "reputable" business to stop charging me for a service I am actively trying to cancel. In my eyes they owe me a refund for all this time I have been trying to get someone to cancel my account. STAY FAR FAR AWAY
Missing some basic machines. No one really puts the weights back. Cheap and decent otherwise.
I was paying for membership I thought was frozen for the last several months. But the real problem is they took so long to get back to me after I physically visited the gym to discuss (had to also followed up), and when they (manager) finally did, they had no idea what my issue was (not communicated properly internally). Contrary to what was discussed in person, they chose to not give me hardly any credit back, choosing a few bucks over member. I was planning on returning but not anymore. They only Say they care about members, it's just disappointing.

I really don’t understand all the complaints about the gym being dirty. I go 5x a week and every time I’m there, I see staff going in and out of the change rooms and cleaning them, walking around putting weights back where they belong, and picking up discarded paper towels off the ground. The gym is actually one of the cleanest I’ve been to, and I’ve been to a few (Steve Nash Burnaby, Gold’s Gym Burnaby, and GoodLife). If you’re upset about the gym being a little crowded at times, go somewhere else. There’s plenty of bigger gyms in Burnaby. For example: Gold’s Gym, where you can always find a machine but will be paying $50 a month. That being said, for $15 a month, this gym is amazing! For the $30 fitness assessment that they require you to book when you sign up, just schedule it but you don’t actually have to go. They won’t force you to take it or anything. It’s just a requirement of the sales rep to book it for you and try to sell you on it. I gave it 4 stars because while it’s an amazing gym, I really wish they would get rid of some of the machines in the women’s area and replace them with ones people would actually use. There’s a few in there that I’ve literally never seen anyone use, and I think other machines would be put to better use. For example, the leg press or whatever they have in there right now, where you set the resistance. I think I’ve only seen someone on it once. Replacing it with an actual leg press where you can set a desired weight would be much more beneficial. I just feel it’s a waste of space and members would get better use out of machines where you can set the weight, rather than just resistance.

Glad the gym was open and was able to get a pre booked wotkout in. But, one of the hand sanitizing stations was empty.

I’ve been working out at club 16 since more than 3 years and I was very satisfied with the equipments and the environment they offer, lately the gym becomes so busy and the peak time always very busy and hard to share equipments with members, I reported it and Mike the manager was very understanding, very helpful, he connects with me in less than couple days to follow up about my concern. Thanks a lot for the hard work you’re putting into it to make it a very good place to workout in.
We had signed up about a week ago and had gone once to the South Burnaby location and we do not feel safe being at your gym. Many COVID19 protocols are not being followed especially with the social distancing, fully enforcing mask being worn throughout the entire time as well as “booked appointments.” In that one time that we were at the gym appointments were staggered but was not fully enforced. Announcements were being made when the appointment is “over” for the hour but not everyone leaves and it adds up to a pool of people overlapping their appointments. Almost 60 people are booked each hour but not 60 people leave when announcements are made, I do suggest enforcing a more COVID19 safe protocol otherwise members can put other members at risk especially the people/members who are immunocompromised like my partner and myself. And later that same day that I sent in my safety concern I receive a notification that one of their members had tested positive to COVID19!!! I have called the gym and emailed Melinda(manager) and was promised that I was going to hear from her the the same day which was Wednesday last week but a week have passed and I still have not heard from her. Please do yourself a favor and sign up for a much safer gym.

Awesome location - tons of parking, nice new equipment and a great space overall. Staff is always super friendly and the value can't be beat - easily the best place in South Surrey to work out.

TLDR: staff (with one exclusion in my experience) are terrible at what they do and either blatantly lie to you or have no idea what they're doing. The actual facilities are alright. Have had several issues even before signing up with this gym. Ill start off by saying the facilities are pretty decent especially for the bi monthly rate, admittedly I have only been to one other gym though. Called before ever signing up asking for information about a personal trainer, but since their program was still about a week away from launching at the time I called according to the person on the phone, they informed me they would Get someone to call me back. I never received any sort of call. Now when I decided to just go ahead and sign up anyways since I live so close I talked to a young sales rep who laid out some information and throughout the conversation I finally got some info on what I initially wanted. I go ahead and sign up with a personal trainer as well and he takes my information and payment. He proceeds to schedule me with someone and assures me I would get a follow up call to confirm. a few days go by and then finally the day before the appointment in the evening NOTHING again. I had to call and get someone else to re-book which she actually managed to do. Now after the two initial sessions they try and sell us the package again? Lastly I rescheduled a recent session for a future date but apparently it was not actually communicated or done properly again because the trainer himself was expecting us(I found out because he messaged me). I'm not sure how this place is run but it is horrid. The trainer himself Harmon, has been a pleasure but the rest of the staff just don't seem to know what they're doing at all.

After all the complaints on below..I decided to check this place out for myself. So here is my review : Pros: - Staff is nice but very quiet so if you are the type that doesn't want anyone to say hello to you then this is your gym and no one is pushing you to purchase anything and they are helpful if you want to purchase something. - no loud music so good for people who bring thier own headphones/ earbuds. -Big facility and lots of areas to do floor work -Underground free parking with so much space and no time limit so great location for a rainy day. -Elevator from parking garage to gym so you won't have to go outside - mostly a young crowd who all minds thier business all into thier workouts and the elder ladies are really motivating to be around since they aren't giving the young fit ladies dirty looks or trying to push them off any machines. - female change rooms are inside the "shes fit" facility -located by a grocery store inside a mall -very clean - one thing is a really BIG deal was the air inside this facility is quite fresh smelling and clean as if there is an air purification cleaning the air. - many mask wearing cliental while working out so facility feels covid safe - hydrotherapy room was very clean with disinfect spray and paper towels - bought a good quality workout tshirt for $20 - big windows in both areas by the cardio machines - bottled water station is available but only in the main area not in the "she's fit" section. - main area is quite big and bright. I enjoyed the layout so much I actually stayed a long time to get my workout in and had all the machines I needed to complete a good long workout for the day. - nice vibe and very diverse crowd. Cons: - female change rooms are very small and a little outdated but toilet seats are very clean. - not enough machine equipment inside the "she fit" section so you are forced to go into the main workout area to finish up on the machines, unless you want to do some free weights and floor work. - although shower stalls was clean and no moldy smells coming out of the drain. I wasn't impressed with one of the showers as the drain was running very slow so the water was filling up under my feet so I needed to re wash my feet as I was pretty grossed out not sure if all showers have this issue but I definitely won't use the first shower stall on the left ever again. -"Shes Fit" section is quite dark and grey on a rainy day with low lighting. Therefore you'll have to push yourself extra hard to get your energy going and some people could get a bit uninspired to workout unless you have music to keep u going. - top of the lockers in the womens change rooms are very dusty as I found out trying to put my umbrella on the top shelf. Overall I really like this location as it works for someone like myself.
I have been a member for the past 6 months working with personal trainer Deborah Mindrut. She has helped me to reach my first set of goals and continues to be active and supportive. One of the best I have ever worked with!
The girls at the front are extremely rude. very unprofessional.. always talking and laughing.. this is a work place not you’re break.

This Gym is the best I have ever seen with reasonable price and nice employees to persuade me to exercise.My clients at IDEAL SKIN LASER CENTER in Port Moody came there and talked about this Gym and persuaded me to go there and finally I found it a good place to have fun and try for a healthy life.
Professional staff, a lot of good measures in place to prevent spread of COVID. Club is quiet at this time which is awesome as I didn't have to wait for a squat rack or bench at all. For $16 a month you really can't ask for more. Best bang for your buck!
Changing my review to 1 star. I called earlier in the week to inquire about paying the $3 drop in fee at Club 16 BBY (I’m on the basic membership at another location). At the time, I was told that this was ok and was assisted with booking an online time slot. When I arrived I was told that I wasn’t allowed to workout at this location, but only at my home gym. Then, I waited 30 minutes to speak to a manager. If this a new rule, then why isn’t this communicated to customers? P.S. the workers at this location are extremely rude!

always so unimpressed with the lack of care the STAFF members have for this gym- a few months ago I told the person working at the front desk that the fire extinguisher had fallen off the wall and was lying in the middle of the floor. three days later it was still still laying on the floor. it was until i emailed management that it was actually removed . today i came to the gym and the main entrance door was locked. me and another member stood outside thinking the gym was closed until we saw another member come out of the side door. I asked the girl at the front desk if the door was broken she said no, i told her it was locked and she said she would have someone open it. i finished my workout and was leaving and opened the door to some members that were thinking same thing door is locked gym is closed. my workout was an hour long! are you telling me she didn't tell someone for an hour to go unlocked the door? I went back upstairs and told the same girl the door is still locked and she really could have cared less! she was like " well the side door is open " but the main door is locked!! i went to save on after to do a shop and walked passed and tried the door and it was still locked! if the staff doesn't are about the gym how are members going to? SAD to see that people dont respect where they work
Very bad customer service when cancel with Alisha. When came in to take a look, the gentlemen tour me very nice on Feb 9, I was told sign up and have 10 days to try out and If I don't like it, I can cancel and have it refund. Only that visits and I knew I don't like it and will not come back. Called in to canceled 3 days later. Feb 16 received email follow up asking why I havenot been... which is nice. However that told me that they have not cancel my membership. Sent them email on Feb 20, asking to cancel. They called me without leaving any message. I try to call back and they said will call me back again. Today, I came to the club and saw Emily at front desk. She said it has been cancel. I then told her : " can u pls double check?" It then find out that it has not been cancel. Emily explained that she has asked them to cancel and for some reason it has not been done. I was then help by Alisha to cancel. It took me half and hour to cancel and she told me I won't get refund plus I need to pay for the next 30 days??? I asked why and was explain that I was 1 day passed the trial period. I was very unsatisfy with the service. It was not my fault at all and the way that Alisha deal with the situation is so unprofessional. I then asked for her manager and she told me there is no manager. I then ask for business card and was told there is not any business card.??? Unbelievable!!! I then ask for the name and number of the manager. She gave me the name only. I asked the last name and she told me she cannot give the last name??? With that many issues and the way that Alisha deal with it, I won't recommend the club to anyone and hopefully they will improve it so that It won't be a hassle for membership. UPDATE: LOCATION MANAGER CALLED AND APOLOGIZED FOR THE EXPERIENCE. I GUESS THAT COULD BE THE ONE PERSON THAT NEED MORE CUSTOMER SERVICE ....
I live this gym. Staff is great . Gym is clean. Lost one star because of weekend hours. So many people work weekends now and the hours are horrible for us. We have to go to another gym on Saturday and Sunday because my workout buddies and I work weekends. Needs to stay open later on weekends

This place is a joke. Three weeks and counting since the weigh scale has been broken ????. Every time I ask when it will be fixed I’m given a different time frame. Even the manager told me it would be fixed last over a week ago!
I’ve been a regular at this gym for a very long time, and I am outraged at the service I was given very recently. Having not known theirs a new policy where you must book to officially get in(no more wait lists), I came in and decided to go for a workout like I do most days. I wasn’t able to prebook like I usually do, as it was already full by Saturday when I tried to book. I came in and tried to scan in after coming 15 minutes later from when I usually come in, as that’s how long the wait lists usually are. As I came in, I saw nobody waiting and went to go scan in, just to have the scanner ripped away from me, as I was given a snarky bunch of questions to answer. I told them I hadn’t booked, to which they told me that you need to prebook to get in. I told them I didn’t know that, and thought that I can come in due to the wait lists I’ve seen in the past. All I received was a snarky “It says when you book etc...”. I tried explaining to her that this was all new to me, and rather than try to be nice about it, I got scolded even more. All I know is that I go to the gym to boost my mental health, and instead I get the opposite treatment.

This gym is very affordable. They have a lot of equipment(I love their hydro massage machines) and it's clean.
If you like doing anything with cables good luck. If you're taller than 6 feet, be prepared to be spilling off of the tiny benches.
Currently only 1/3 of the cardio machines are in use, as per covid regulations, older equipment that doesn't work properly and half the weight machines not in use makes it nearly impossible to keep active during this time.

The staff are super friendly and that one guy named Jamal is very handsome. He turns my frown upside down. And the general manager and fitness manager are so great to work with as well.
Honestly it got way better since covid started. Due to reservations requirements, the gym is not as crowded as it use to be before covid. If they keep this way it would be the best gym for the price you pay. Please keep the reservations even after covid. The ladies got an upgrade too lol
Relatively new. Great rates. Lots of parking space. A bit busier than I'd like it. But if you don't mind the wait for equipment, you should check it out. They're not as pushy as Steve Nash Gyms, but they wouldn't be doing their job if they didn't try to get you to sign up.
The gym itself isn't bad. Not all the staff are great, some are pretty judgemental. The hours could definetly be longer. The main reason I'm giving 2 stars is because of all the hassle I had to go through to quit.

They got me to sign up saying that the price would be going up soon... it never went up. Feel a bit tricked. If you go in to talk about getting a membership, don't think you have to buy it on the spot! Take your time to make your decision.
I was very reluctant to even set foot in a gym but I am so glad I did! I was warmly greeted, and felt relaxed and excited to start. i booked a training package because I knew nothing at all about strength training and really needed that guidance. Laura Wilson is terrific! Professional, friendly and focused. She is always making sure the exercises are being performed correctly and safely. For the past several months Laura has been supporting my development at the gym and I know I am now a lifer! If you want an inspiring trainer who walks the talk then book a package with Laura. I have seen great changes that I am so grateful for. The rates are not prohibitive at all. The best not-very-much money you can spend on yourself! I appreciate the layout and design of the facility, the variety in equipment and the change rooms - clean and spacious. Showers are a bonus! While it is busy sometimes there is a really nice energy and flow to the space. I find everyone easy to get along with and people are thoughtful and respectful of each other. I’m going to give this gym the rating it deserves a 1 Star. South Burnaby location. I sent an email to the staff at this location in order to book an appointment to get 3 free days that they had advertised plus more information on the services they provide. Nearly three weeks later, at work, they called me to set up an appointment!? I don’t think so! Let’s get down to business, this gym is too small and too packed with people. The staff, are either ignorant and/or ignore you straight up. Expect lies from them and to be taken advantage of at every corner. They are a for profit business after all and with their low monthly prices they have to push a lot of sales... even if it means lying and stealing. I’ve sent them an email detailing my grievances and they tried a fast one by giving me 3 free days to “make up” for this inconvenience. The 3 free days were already included, they are not “making up” for anything, just compounding lies and deceit. Please read members reviews below mine, far too many people have a problem with the staff, gym size, equipment and cancelation problems which sound more like theft problems rather than just cancelations. The hours of operation are horrible, weekend closing time at 5pm!? Edmonds Comunity Centre is literally half a block away. They have a massive gym that dwarfs this one. Plus pool, sauna and hot tub included in the gym price. Oh I forgot to mention, I shop near this gym and I keep seeing males with purses ???? entering it. Wrong hormones perhaps? I wish that was a joke. ????
Very unprofessional staff and management. It has taken 7 months of emails with a wait of over 3 months for a response. Understandably, during the pandemic they had to change and introduce policies. The staff were either incapable of keeping up with their own fast changing information, or the policies for freezing the membership was not correctly interpreted and therefore presented to me incorrectly. I was advised that I could freeze the membership for as long as I wanted to during the pandemic. However, after a couple of months when I wanted to start using the gym again I was told that my membership was completely cancelled, then I was told that it could be frozen for only 30 days (which at that time nobody mentioned, and 3 of the staff were very "understanding" and explained that Club16's membership freezing policy was introduced to accomodate members that did not feel comfortable for whatever reason to attend the gym during the pandemic), and now if I want to rejoin, I have to pay the sign up fees and the assesments... Last email communication with them was in April when they said they would speak to the manager regarding my issue and get back to me. Nobody got back to me until I emailed them a few days ago. And today I received a phonecall where they told me that they can't do anything for me and can't reinstate my membership, and just listed current promotions that they have for new members.
Their working style is so stupid and awful. They made me to go to the gym like 4 times only for the sign up. This is the worst gym ever. And even the blond girl lie to me about the price. She said full option( coach, fat counting machine, class.. ) is a must course that i must pay and it is not true. After i know that it was a lie, i asked her again and she said like “oops, my mistake” that was all that she said. I feel so bad. She ignore me because i am an international and student. And they never felt sorry about what they did to customer. They were just busy to laughing and talking. I feel so bad with this gym. Worst ever. Actually, even 1 star is too much for them. They deserve 0 star.

Rude staff no customer service i went one day a was waiting in the line up I knew there was a lot of spots but there was a girl behaved so rude and didn’t let me to work out I’m paying my every minute is valuable for me.
Dark gym. Poor lighting. If you want to work out with people who dont put their weights back or have any sense of courtesy for other members this is the gym for you.

I was told when joining that I was required to set up an appointment with a "health coach" which would be an additional $30 to the fees to join. I was very naive in thinking that this would be a time to be shown how to use the equipment, be given advice for a workout or diet helps. Only to find out this morning that it is only a time to hear a sales pitch to pay an additional $19.99 a month to receive any help or support. Never during the time was there any encouragement given to being at the gym to begin with. Nice gym, too bad you must play the game of hidden costs and commercial programs.
This is hands down the worst gym ever. They constantly let too many people in during the pandemic, they never answer the phone, they do nothing to address rude patrons making other gym goers uncomfortable, they continued to charge me for the elite package rate even though they can't allow access to the tanning or massage bed(I understand the restriction but they should not be charging me for something I'm not using) and when I tried to cancel I had to contact the Tswassen location to get any response. Don't waste your money on this place unless you live close to the Tswassen location, that is the only one with responsible management and it is a completely different experience. The Tswassen location is actually one of the top gyms I have ever been to, great staff, friendly environment and they adhere to the social distancing rules that are currently in place, but sadly I live too far away.
Apparently incapable of answering phone calls to ask about co vid regulations and requirements from us as gym users. Not entirely sure I did the right thing signing up

Keep calling and calling nobody picks up the phone. It either goes straight to a voice-mail or nothing waste of time and energy.
Be aware of overcharging!! Just cancelled my membership due to the terrible customer service. According to the counsellor from my new gym ,they couldn’t charge any other fee if that fee wasn’t in your contract. In fact , my new gym got lot of new customers from here due to this problem. Only this gym is charging No show fee! You have the right to reject paying and even cancel your membership without any penalties if you were singed before this policy!! In addition, their staff are so drama and unfriendly.I have no idea why they need to make a story for telling their boss they didn’t do anything wrong. All I can say is never believe their staff ,request evidence such as security video.Eeven though I asked they just ignored.
Staff are friendly and are really helpful to beginners like me. I would definitely recommend this place.
