Came into the gym and got a free trial and I was super excited about the low prices. But then I saw how the staff treat each other. I overheard a conversation between 2 of the staff behind the counter and heard the guy repeatedly put down the girl. I missed most of the details but at the end of the conversation he proudly announced "Well you can't go anywhere you're pregnant. Who would hire you." and then he rolled his eyes and skipped away. Disgusting. The real question is who hired that guy. I'm not going to be getting my membership at a place that has guys like that. Edit - After seeing the response from the owner I called the gym and got to talk with the Gentleman and he confirmed that he did say those words, and that he thought it was justified as she had mentioned "she was considering quitting." World Gym might want to update their staff on what is considered bullying, harassment and discrimination. BUT HAVE NO FEAR. I've pulled up the very first sentence from the The Human Rights Commission; "Harassing employees because of pregnancy or related conditions or circumstances is also considered discrimination. Harassment includes joking, teasing and unwelcome comments, or touching." Again, who hired this clown.

You get what you pay for. Most of the time the bathroom needs cleaned. Paper towel is always out and often a toilet is clogged. I agree with a previous poster who said the treadmills need locked down. They are wobbly and noisy.

I was gifted with a year membership to this gym, and I've enjoyed it (for the most part). I loved going to the classes, Zumba with Bree was always the highlight of my Monday's and Wednesday's (she truly cared for her participants, and it was clear teaching Zumba was her passion, making the class that much better) however she is no longer there due to petty management and staff. If you have the pleasure to run into Kimberly or Dylan at the front desk, you will leave the gym in a good mood.

This gym although is ok, its gone downhill a bit. Here are the Pros and Cons: Pros: The gym is centrally located in Kelowna on Harvey Ave, its a smaller size gym, inexpensive memberships with no long term contracts. Its clean in most parts, and its cool in the summers, and warm enough in the winter months. The staff are smiley and friendly although sometimes a bit clueless. They have replaced some very old aging machines, and fresh paint recently. The crowd that works out is serious and not fancy, and the free classes they have are pretty decent but some of the coaches or trainers that do the classes looks tired, and old but do their job! Cons: The gym struggles to have enough parking as its shared with Jysk and its very busy and hard to find parking in peak hours. It's ok for summer to walk but once the snow comes nobody wants to walk far to get in, once inside you will find allot of NO RULES plasterd all over the place, NO outside shoes allowed, no leaving keys and stuff unatented, no leaving weights on machines, no dropping weights above waist high, I understand the rules but I think they should have this maybe going on a screen that they play advertising on instead of it being stuck on sheets of paper on the walls. Also the machines are still majority old, some of the treadmills make a horrible noise when used, they shake and rattle. The ellipticals are also dated and old with many having malfunctions. The screens have blurry channels, and the cardio machines don't have any new wiring for new cell phones they still have iPhone 1st gen plugs on them from nearly a decade ago. That being said the other workout machines are also mostly dated with ripped vinyl or wobbly parts that don't seem safe. The arm extension machine (triceps) seat has been broken for over 60 days and people just put weights under it so its lifted enough to sit on making it very poor looking and dangerous. I also find the free weights in dire need of replacing as the rubbers are nearly all off or damaged on the weights that are used daily. Lastly the tanning machine is very dirty inside with peoples hair (pubes) and dust along with god knows what. They need to either shut that down or upkeep it. BOTTOM LINE: If you are looking for a low cost gym that gets the job done and don't mind the rough shape machines this is the place to be. It's also a fraction of the cost of other gyms. Until they fix some things this review stays at two. Pictures will be updated shortly to show the condition.

You get what you pay for: The place is busy, the equipment is "tired looking" worn or wearing out, pieces are missing or equipment is compromised to appease certain members. Ants in the guys changeroom and only one properly functioning faucet (for months)...but the staff is nice.

I'm new to this gym and so far, it's great. It tends to be a bit busy but you can't blame success, I guess. Quite a few machines were out of order but I think that's currently being rectified as I saw the repairman in the other day. I do wish we used towels to wipe down the machines instead of paper towels, though. So much waste.

This gym is okay for the price you pay. You can't expect much for $10/month, yet it is decent for the machines and weights they have available. As a frequent runner there are enough treadmills to pick from, yet some are not locked to the ground and therefore wobbly and annoying... customer service is okay, not always the friendliest people.

I cancelled my membership because of a gym structure change where renovations would deteriorate the group fitness classes I signed up for originally. I emailed the owners my concerns and received NO response. Very, very poor customer service. Do not spend your money on this facility. Read the reviews.. I'm not the only one frustrated with this facility and it's management. Edit - I received an email response to my customer service inquiry that was professional and respectful. Still not the gym for me, but at least they addressed the issue.

The staff are usually friendly and quick to greet you. The equipment is, for the most part, in working order. There never seem to be enough clamps available for everyone to use, especially when its busy. And since its busy most of the time that seems to always be the case. Most of the plates rubber are old and have been worn out with use over time There are spots in the gym that always seem to smell terrible. Couldn't tell you why though. If gym ownership were looking to improve the experience for their faithful customers I would recommend replacing most, if not all, plates and making sure all racks are supplied with clamps. For 10 dollars a month it is the most cost-efficient gym in kelowna but the experience is exactly what your paying for. If you have the extra money to spend I would recommend going elsewhere but if you're on a budget World Gym is a great place to workout. In short, the gym is good; but it could be immensely improved if ownership would be bothered to update equipment. Overall a 3 out of 5 experience, check it out to see for yourself.

This place will try to nickel and dime you for everything you're worth so just be prepared going in and read all the fine print. Facilities are good for weight training with lots of equipment available. The women's only area is a nice touch. If you get the VIP membership - Cycling classes and instructors here are great. Yoga instructors are good but the complete lack of soundproofing to the gym makes the classes unbearable. The price is great if they don't catch you with any of their hidden fees, but overall this is still my least favourite world gym I have had a membership at (comparing to both Hamilton locations and Barrie location)

I came into World Gym excited to take advantage of their low prices. Unfortunately as I was attempting to get my membership the girl at the front desk stopped mid conversation to pickup the phone. To my surprise I was left waiting there twiddling my thumbs as the staff member explained to the person on the other end of the call what their prices were. After that phone call she explained to me that she was sorry but she had to answer it. You would think that the person standing in front of you would take precedent as I was already in the middle of having my membership created. Guess not. After that total disregard for customer service I didn't continue any further with purchasing a membership. I don't recommend anyone becoming a member at World Gym.

It’s good. I mean for the price what can you expect? It’s always so busy but at 10 bucks a month that’s a given. I just use free weights most of the time. They could add more squat racks though and it would be beneficial to have a squat rack or two in the women’s section.

Illegally changed their ID to charge my bank account after I passed a stop payment through my bank, to prevent unauthorized payments in the first place. I tried cancelling my membership multiple times to only hear agreement and then see failure to comply over and over. Horribly passive staff. After many back and forth trips to drill through them I wanted my subscription terminated I had given up because of the incompetence eventually adding it to a consolidation, that they agreed to comply with however of course did not. They racked up my bill to $504 then sold it to a Credit company. Honestly, excellent gym; excellent space; great parking; great monthly based price; great equipment and variety of; but horrible staff, law breaking company, apply at your own risk. Very good if you're going to stay, but they will make it very difficult for you to leave and will try their hardest to rob money from you in the process.

Gym is very inexpensive but has an impressive amount of features for the amount you pay. Don't expect great employee service from the front desk (mentioned twice that a clock was not changed from the time change.. three months ago. Still not changed). But facilities are clean and open good hours. They only have classes in the mornings on the weekend, which is odd in my mind but perhaps a normal thing.

Horrible costumer service. The set up an auto renewal without informing you, albeit, it is in the small print on one of the pages in the contract. If you don't cancel your membership, they still keep taking money, even after years of inactivity, and then still want you to pay to get out of the contract. They have good equipment and it's 24 hours, but the customer service, is the worst I've seen in the industry.

Great gym, however their memberships are terribly difficult to get out of. So if you’re 100% sure you’re going to use their facilities to the fullest extent for an entire year, you won’t have any issues. As a student, one who is only here for school 8 months out of the year it is somewhat of a financial burden, considering there are not many locations and no option to transfer gyms regardless. A lot of work to do if they want to progress. But I always have a great workout here regardless! Endless machines, you won’t catch yourself waiting to use anything.

EDITING MY REVIEW AFTER A YEAR: I ended up ending my gym membership here. The front staff arent always friendly. The gym is very dirty and old. Also, keep in mind that the price for this gym is cheap, but you get what you pay for right? If you are looking for a gym where you feel welcome, not judged, and feel comfortable- this is not the gym for you!!! If you like steroids, testosterone, and working out to only meet people- choose this gym :D OG Review: First time going to the gym, the front staff are very friendly. Gym equipment is a bit old but that can be easily over looked. There are a lot of different equipment to choose from :) Also very pocket book friendly.

Good selection of equipment. Very busy unless you go in the morning. Cardio equipment is not well maintained. But lots to choose from so you can usually find something that's working. They simply don't work with my schedule. Staff is nice. Facility is usually clean. Often water buckets are lying around from leaks during High precipitation seasons. Really good value for the cost of membership. Pros definitely outweigh cons. I will definitely recommend as an economy gym option for someone looking to work out but can't afford some of the other options

I have been going there since it first opened. I am over 50 and work out 4 to 5 times a week. I go between 6am and 9am. It is never crowded. The regulars are friendly. Going between 4 pm and 7pm is very busy and I don't bother unless i just want to do cardio. For the price I pay I can't complain except when someone uses a machine in a way that it was not intended. That drives me crazy as some machines then don't work properly. Staff should monitor and prevent that. Rebecca is a manager there she is always so nice and helpful.

I have had memberships at other gyms and have found the Kelowna World Gym one of the best! A lot of options for cardio, weight lifting and strength training. Options to work with some excellent trainers. The staff is amazing! Friendly, informed just the best. I was a member at this gym for years. I never missed a payment. The pandemic hit and for some reason they stopped drawing payments from my account. I am not sure why, I assumed because the gym wasn't open they were not charging their customers. They never communicated anything to me so I was unaware. Last month I received an overdue payment letter in the mail asking for 2 years worth of dues with interest on it. No communication ever after missing 1, 2, 3, 6 months, 1 year of payments. Just a bill for 2 years worth of dues with interest. This gym is a cheap gym but this is a terrible way to treat a client. You would think some notice would be given prior to the 2 year mark. Very disappointed in this gym and the way they do business. I cannot cancel my contract because they want me to go in person but they are not open. Also they won't even answer the phone when I have tried to call and next month I will get another letter stating that I owe more money that I cannot facilitate payment on. I cannot stress enough how poorly they are managed and operated. Aside from this the change rooms were never clean, the gym was over crowded and the staff complacent and not friendly. I have would suggest going to literally any other gym.

The equipment is plentiful, staff are friendly and helpful. My only concern is the lack of cleanliness in the men's change room. I understand the salt is a major contributing factor to the problem, but it appears there is little effort to deal with the issue. On three occasions I approached staff with this concern and was told it would be adressed but it was't. One locker had a dirty pair of underwear in it for the entire time so I know it was not done. I take the initiative to clean my own locker before I use it but should'nt that be staff's responsibility ? I hope this response will make some positive changes for the gym. Thanks

I was at the gym this morning and witnessed something that honestly made me so disgusted at your gym. A man was doing squats at the squat rack, he had removed his shoes and was in his socks, not knowing there was a rule against that. While he was in the middle of his squat some lady dressed in regular work out clothes put her hand on the weights and basically pushed the weights making the bar go completely side ways on this man. She was angry and upset that he had his shoes off. This lady is the manager of the gym and was working out as a regular person, she was not working. There was a huge scene this lady made and from my understanding he got kicked out of the gym and his membership cancelled. I think this is so unsafe, so unprofessiobal and extremely bad customer service by someone who claims to be a manager of your gym. I have been to many gyms and people always remove their shoes because it’s better for their form. I couldn’t believe when this man was squatting over 200 pounds this lady comes over and puts pressure on the bar, possibly causing this person to get extremely injured. I cannot believe the types of people they have representing their name and the company. I would be completely embarrassed and disappointed. This “manager” has approached me rudely and aggressively when it was my first day at the gym about my work out bag. I had no idea you were not allowed to have those on the floor. The way the manager carries herself is so childish and I’m mind blown how brutal she acted

Staff care and will help you find what you need. Has all the weights you need to complete a good workout. Many squat racks and cardio machines help alot so your not waiting 30 mins to start your workout. Extra crossfit room separate. Lots of classes to offer. Womens side and day care are a bonus. Gym can get busy but I have never had to wait long to use equipment because there is a good variety. Good athmospear and have met many great people there. Gary and the owners all care about the members and will help them locate any stolen or missing property. Been going for almost 6 years now and you can't beat the price for a membership anywhere.

The positive things I've got to say about this gym is that it's pricing is very affordable, I like the fact that you can bring a guest with you as well. They have a variety of equipment as well. Now for the negative it's too packed but I guess it's what you get for the rate you pay. Also they don't really throughly explain some of their extra fees. Some of the staff aren't helpful. I came in the other day to get some help and the staff member was giving me the run around he didn't seem to want to deal with me. The staff doesn't seem to be all on the same page. Don't get me wrong tho there are some staff members that have been helpful.

Tried to cancel my membership on phone in July. I was told that my membership was cancelled but i was charges from august to December. I tried to explain them the situation. I changed the province in July after having the cancellation. Now they say you have to come in person or send a mail to the gym. I talked to one of the employers in the gym and she said i can send someone on my behalf to cancel the membership. My friend went there and they said i have to be there in person.These guys are justed wasting my time. I mean, it has been a lockdown in Ontario again and again. If there is a policy that during lockdown we are not going to get charged then why you are charging me money. I did email to the manager and she didn’t answer me for 3 days. When there is a time for payment, then you send me 2 emails at ones to remind me about the payment. Why can’t you deal with it ???

I wish I could give this gym zero stars. The management is very poor and extremely unprofessional. The way the manager runs the company is bizarre. The staff is rude, unwelcoming, and lack customer service. I would never advise anyone to use this facility, I would recommend any other gym over this one. The manager's way of dealing with people is cursing at you and banning people from the gym for voicing their concerns. The equipment is bent, broken, poor quality; they don't value the safety of their members. Do yourself a favor and avoid this gym at all costs.

Yes, they have cheap rates, but they also have hidden fees! They charge an additional $60 in March and again in September. I was initially told this was to "reserve" your membership rates so that they can't be raised. When I cancelled in January, I assumed that I wouldn't be charged the fee in March (oh yes, you also need to give them 60 days notice to in order to cancel). I was told yes, I's still have to pay the fee. But, I said, if it's to reserve my membership rate for 6 months from March to Sept. and I'm not there, why am I paying for it? They then changed their tune and said it was a "user fee". I asked why I had to pay a user fee for 6 months I wouldn't be there, and they still couldn't answer me, saying I just had to pay it. Save your money, there are better and far less shady gyms in Kelowna!!!

I really like what they've done with the gym since undergoing recent renovations. The various staff have always been friendly from the moment I walk in the door and are part of the reason I've stayed here as a long term member. World Gym is now very spacious with plenty of protocols in place that minimize health risks while still allowing you to get a good workout in. Make sure you bring a pair of indoor shoes. Excellent mix of well-maintained cardio machines, resistance training equipment and free weights. Although the memberships billing plans are a bit convoluted, when averaged out on a monthly basis they are cheaper than a lot of other comparable options in Kelowna. Only improvement I would like to see is a stretching area with exercise mats.

I found the customer service to be incredibly lacking On a consistent basis It seemed as though no one received any training before beginning the job. It was expensive and hard to get in for childcare and the gym was basic at best. Overall I was very disappointed.

I went for the first time on Friday. I thoroughly enjoyed myself for such a large facility the staff count on the people who use the facility to clean up after themselves which I am pleased to say they do. I recently had full knee replacement surgery and was able to do my exercises as well as ride a bike. I had an amazing experience. Next time I go I will access the tanning bed and massager for a reasonable price of course only $6.00. The 2 are free with a certain membership. I encourage anyone who wants to lose weight built up or just get in shape to go

Update: The renovations and moving of the group fitness classes has made the women's side terrible. You can't even hear yourself think when they have a class going on. My ears are still ringing days later. You can hear the music from the co-ed side too. Trying to deafen all of us? Obviously you don't care about your other members who don't do classes. I like having a womens only side. The spin room is great too. Staff are usually stuck up and rude. No towels, only paper towels and spray which is usually out. Equipment could be better, but has improved over the last year. The gym is always packed with pretty boys, roid heads, and girls wearing basically nothing. If you keep your head down and focus on your workout, $10 a month is a good deal. Pretty much only there because its cheap.

Im not sure what to say here, im a little shocked. I paid $460.00 for a 1year membership, after 5 weeks my life situation changed therefore i talked to tge manager of the Kelowna location and asked for a refund and was told there would be a one month penalty. I then went and picked up the what shouldve been around a $315.00 cheque and only got a $189.00 refund and was told that the difference that i was missing went towards an admin fee. This seems very shady to me, there is nothing about this in the contract, i wouldnt recommend this gym, stick with the local Y, they are much more honest. Word of mouth wont get my missing money back but i hope it will cost World Gym in reconsidered future memberships

I just finished my first workout at World Gym Athletics with Arlen. It was great, he'll make you sweat, and work hard. Strapping on some boxing gloves and going at the bag, and doing pad work was the best part. Highly recommend, it's a great workout with one of Kelowna's best trainers.

You can't beat the price for the monthly membership, clean tanning beds, awesome hydro massage beds, they even offer a wide variety of classes. The change rooms are a little tight depending on what time you go due to the lockers being stacked on top of another but that shouldn't matter as you go to workoutout, not to socialize in the change rooms. Overall it is an awesome Gym, I would highly recommend checking then out! ????

The only good thing about this gym is the price. Unfortunately the equipment is old and some is damaged (for example all the barbells are bent even the new ones they bought). It is generally packed and can be hard to find a empty squat rack. Friendliness of staff usally depends on the day wether they are good or bad. Rules are generally not enforced and when they are it is out of the blue. Paper towel and soap in washrooms are empty half the days im there. The owner is one of the biggest problems with this gym! He does not care about his members and if you as a customer have feedback or questions he can get angry and will swear or blackmail you into canceling your membership. He will even go as far as revoking it for you leaving a negetive review and refusing to take it down. If you are looking for a gym or looking to change from another one, i would look elsewhere before choosing worlds.

Great gyms! I love the fact they're family owned and so engaged in the community. You get so much value for your membership, the World Gym Athletics classes incorporate so much in a functional training style. Highly recommend the gyms and classes to all friends and family!

The absolute worst gym in Kelowna! Deserves 0 stars and even the $10/month membership isn’t worth it. The worst thing about the gym are the employees including the manager, the girls are very rude with so much attitude. They are extremely lazy too, the bathrooms are always out of paper towel and soap, and they seem to enforce random rules when they feel like it. The gym was so much better when Deb and Marina worked the front desk. I honestly wonder what they do all day considering the gym is very dirty and nothing ever gets wiped down. Equipment is falling apart especially the free weights on the women’s side the rubber is coming off of all of them, they haven’t been replaced in who knows how long and yet they charge a maintenance fee to get new equipment for the gym. You’re better off going to a different gym.

Called to suspend membership again on March 3 2021 and was told not to worry as World Gym would honor my request boy Was I wrong .They charged me and refused to give my money back and would only credit it to my membership when I went back or towards my cancelation fees of two months.They said I could not prove I had called them to suspend my membership even though I had done so several times previously? Get any requests from them in writing and a name of who you spoke with and the date. Response from the owneran hour ago Sean Thank you for your feedback. Covid has been a very interesting time for us all. The gym's phone has been ringing nonstop since we opened back up. Our apologizes if your call wasn't handled correctly. I haven’t been to World Gym since covid, but I still paid my membership, and wanted to support them since I know how bad COVID has effected businesses like this. On March 3 I had a payment come out of my account, which was not my membership but a charge to guarantee the rate I was paying. I had no email, mail, text or any notification of this charge. This particular account I had did not have the proper funds, so I was charged an NSF of $48. I called the gym right away asking what this was, and asked them to reverse it. The lady on the phone said “no we can’t” in a very rude tone and couldn’t help me. I called the manager the next day and got the same response. He told me this charge was in the contract I signed when I joined the gym (approx 8 years ago) and they don’t send out notifications. I couldn’t get my money back now I’m out this charge plus an nsf. I don’t understand why no notification or communication of any sort was sent... especially because I know a few people haven’t been since covid. There was no compromise or any effort to help me. For this reason I will never join this gym again.

This 5 star review goes to your employee: Hunter. He was very helpful in sorting out my dilemma regarding my wife and I's accounts. I was quite upset after a partner company told me that I hadn't paid in over a year, and then tried to backtrack on his lie regarding forwarding my account to a collection company that doesn't exist when I told him I was looking at my payment history. This didn't faze Hunter in the slightest. He was professional and genuinely happy to be assisting me, and by the end of the call we were both laughing. It was a refreshing experience to have.
