This Gym corresponds to the category of Rock climbing gym.
I mainly boulder, so the review is primarily based on that. The rotation in which they reset routes is great. You typically have enough time to work on route over multiple visits, but they mix it up enough that it doesn't feel stale
Great place for kids parties, although a little expensive. They have an area roped off for you where you can bring your own snacks, drinks, cake, etc. Party price includes pizza and someone to assist the kids directly so that the parents can just relax and watch. Great atmosphere with friendly staff!
Love this place. Great for kids
It’s my first climbing gym and I really like it :D Reading people’s comment/suggestions from before, I see that GRR have implement changes to make their gym better (I.e. setting up WiFi/ labeling their route, etc.) I also enjoyed the climbing classes that GRR provides. They are very helpful for beginners like me to improve my skills. There are plenty of bouldering/ belay/ top rope routes and they change their routes occasionally so climbers aren’t bored. Staff patrols regularly to make sure climbers are following their safety rules (e.g. people not standing on the maps/ under the climbers when someone is climbing) It can get very chalky and smelly (from sweat) at the end of the day, so maybe air purifier would help! Would still recommend though :)
Routes that are changed frequently, great friendly staff, nice group of climbers and wonderful climbs. Newly opened area is amazing!!!
Great climbing and great people!
Great gym. I use the climbing, weights, and yoga studio and love it all.
My one complaint is that it's getting kinda busy. But I guess that's a testament to how good it is.
Been going here since it opened in 2011 and it just keeps getting better with time!
I have been to a few gyms in Ontario and I have enjoyed them all, however Grand River Rocks draws me back time and time again. The staff are always friendly, the gym is huge and the route selection is perfect for a wide range of skill level. The patrons are friendly and always willing to give adice on gear and beta. The owners are constantly at the gym climbing with their friends and socializing with the patrons, all of them are very friendly and they make all new comers feel very welcome. I feel very lucky to have such a 5 star facility in my town. I really can't say enough about how great this climbing gym is.
Best climbing gym in the area. Regularly changing up the routes. Friendly, helpful staff. We love it as much as the kids do.
Best rock climbing gym! Super friendly staff and awesome problems for beginners and for pros! There is bouldering, top rope, and lead climbing, and even a separate gym area for members (or day pass holders)
GRR ROCKS!!!!!!
love it here not because its my uncles place i love the place in general
Great climbing and amazing staff! Only thing I would like to see changed is having the membership be universal between here and the Waterloo location rather than needing to get a more expensive dual one or be limited to one or the other.
Being a beginner I was a little hesitant about being able to find good rocks to train on. However I was not disappointed, they have good paths for all levels and they switch up the routes on a regular basis. Great for work parties and birthday parties. Overall if you are into climbing, this gym is worth the money!
A great time, every time.
I only went the once so far and I got the one year pass, that how much I loved their set up. I needed new shoes and they had good prices, and very willing to take the time to make sure the shoe was right for me.
Great gym here. Super close to my school and home.
As an all around perfect place to scurry around, I find this place decent and extra special. There are routes here that make you think, and people are eventually friendly and have lots of interesting and fun things to say. The overall atmosphere is pleasant, and a bit squishy, but otherwise favourable for a small vacation from the heat of outdoors and life in general. Peace.
Nice place to go with kids!!!
For your plastic pulling pleasure in KW!
Great climbing gym! I've been a member for a year and a half, and this is the best all-around gym I've been to. It's very big and has a large variety of lead, top rope, and boulder climbs. There's new rope climbs and boulder problems usually every week, and more recently the routesetters have been becoming more creative with the boulder problems, using lots of volumes and setting more traverse-y problems. The staff are friendly and the price is decent. The few cons include a lack of air conditioning, a lack of storage space when it's very busy, and small change rooms which is only a problem in the winter. Additionally, the boulder problem grading is sometimes inconsistent at the intermediate level (at which I climb). Regardless, this is a top-notch climbing facility and I highly recommend it!
Good place to practice some rock climbing. There is a boulder wall and about 6 auto belays set up. Lots of rope ones too but you have to do an orientation/training to use those. Good workout and fun activity. You can be there as long as you want it seems as you pay for a day pass. There are some change rooms as well. the ladies bathroom also has a thoughtful addition in case it’s that time of month!
This is by far my favourite rock climbing gym. It's really fun, a good place to go with friends, and a great workout. I love that they change the routes often and that it is a huge space with more routes than I could possibly hope to try in a day or even a week.
Very nice gym! There are lots of routs and great for beginners. I went there with my 9 year old sister, and she loved it as well. Though, keep in mind, they do grade their routs easy.
This is a great place to take the children on a cold or rainy day. Price was great $25 for my kid to climb all day.
Great! Fun for everybody
Great place to climb. Very reasonable and affordable monthly rates. Usually they have specials going on. September you have the 3 month specials, June summer 3 month special, and January the 3 months resolution special. Which makes the membership usually around $40/month on a student rate. Staff are super friendly, and if you forget a hair tie they've got your back at the front desk too. :)
Great climbing gym!
Staff is friendly. The climbs are fun and replaced pretty frequently. Prices are reasonable especially the yearly discount they offer in September.
The best thing about KW is GRR. Friendly staff and great routes.
Verry friendly and upbeat. All the staff are great too. The only downside is it takes several months to change our the auto belays because of how many walls they have. Buf the boulder walks are changed weekly so there is always something new to climb
Lots of family fun. Totally unplugged...!!!
Great staff and amazing commitment to new problems! Hard to find anywhere else this good
Great route setting and bouldering. Routes get changed up regularly. Filled with good people.
Climbing is awesome.
As a brand new climber, I have to say that I am totally impressed with GRR and their staff. Safety seems to be a top priority and rules are actively enforced (as they should be!). I took my 'learn to belay' course with David who did a great job, very patient and willing to go through anything repeatedly that I did not understand. The facility is huge with many walls for top roping and lead climbing, along with a massive boulder that has 60+ routes. Everything is well marked and difficulty ranges from easier lines for noobs like me, to expert lines that require some really dynamic movements. It's fun to watch the veterans take a shot at these ones. All in all, this has been an A+ experience and I wish I had done it sooner.
Great employees fostering a great culture.
Great Place, Amazing Staff
It's the only rock climbing gym I've spent any time in, it's great.
Fastastic location, great and helpful staff, not bad hours. Best place to climb if you are anywhere near the KW area.
Best climbing gym I've been to! Has wonderful top-rope, lead, and bouldering routes
Huge place and very fun problems
(Translated) Wow! (Original) Waw!
Awesome day trip with my kids (ages 5 and 10) and a few of their friends. Staff were friendly and helpful. Atmosphere is great and family friendly. It is so nice to be able to bring your own drinks and snacks inside. Will for sure come again soon.
So Good! I took my 3 boys, 6 year old twins and an 8 year old, over the March break for the first time. They had a blast. Very nice and helpful staff. The other more experienced climbers were also very courteous. No Attitude which is something I was a little concerned about. It was busy but the facility is so large your never really bumping shoulders and any waiting for a specific climbing area was minimal. Highly recommended.
The top ropes are well maintained and changed often, I have yet to complain about a rope on a climb and that for gyms is rare so they really look after the place. Staff are friendly though there is some grumpy face types - ignore that they are just busy :) The gym is really nice and newly expanded. They need more lead walls - in that they tend to put leads on harder walls and discourage new bees. There should be 5.5 leads to 5.12+ leads , the lower end and the upper end being the less numerous. The zig zag of the clipping is odd and not straight like other gyms (note: this is in the OLD side , the new side has straight clipping) Note: the new side is amazing with gym, lounge, yoga. As an old climber of a few years experience (cough) I am not into the fancy stuff. Very clean, needs bigger change rooms, good place for all ages, lots of parking.
Most interesting!!????
Probably the best bouldering within an hour, large place lots of regular changes to keep you interested
Fantastic climbing gym with knowledgeable and friendly staff, good for all ages.
love these guys!
Friendly climbing gym with yoga too.
Hands down the best climbing gym and the best staff.
Me and my mom had a terrible experience here. The staff and the people who climbed there were EXTREMELY rude to us. Since we hadn't been there for a really long time when we came back we were a bit unsure if the rules. When the staff/people who climbed there wanted to confirm the rules with us they said it in the rudest way possible. Every small thing we'd do (including practicing belaying with the belay training ropes) someone would tell us that's not allowed or something. Not 5 minutes would go by without someone being extremely rude to us and half the things we were doing were things we saw other people doing too! Other than that the walls itself was good.
Great staff, very friendly and welcoming and they switch it up by constantly changing the walls.
Great place! Awesome that it's so close to home. When youre there, look for Tyko and sing him some Elton John. He'll give you a cliff bar
Great staff, other customers were respectful and waited their turns.
Great climbs with a great atmosphere!
Amazing atmosphere and very clear guidelines to follow COVID protocol. The staff have done a wonderful job making sure that anyone at the establishment feels safe and they can enjoy climbing again!
The best place if you want to try something new and turn it into a hobby/everyday workouts
Great place to workout and meet people and they have many different rope climbing routes, auto belays, lead climbing and just basic belays and bouldering.
First time climbing here, and been climbing for over 3 years now. The prices are good and the problems are fun. However, one thing that ticked me off about this place was how soft the mats are. Every time I would jump down, I could feel the impact on my ankles. The mats are TOO soft. This is not a safe environment for climbers and you could get seriously injured. Please change the mats.
Good place to go if you're around Kitchener. Some things I'd say can be improved: - the bouldering could be more aggressive. I understand there is a bouldering cave, but when I visited there were only two routes on the cave. Overall comparing the problems to climbers rock or true north climbing, they aren't nearly as technical (for the earlier levels) and that kind of takes away the fun of solving them. - no boulder grades? So many of the 'intermediate' climbs feel like beginner routes while others feel very challenging. There are also some 'advanced' problems that feel super easy. I really-really think they should adopt the V-scale, it would make progression a lot better for people trying to improve. - the mats in the second room are pretty bad for falls. Unless you fall very carefully, you will hurt your ankle on the way down. This sucks because it essentially means you can't try any risky moves on problems in that room Besides that GRR is a solid gym. My complaints have no bearing for first time visitors or rope-climbers. These are just some things I would like improved in the future.
Great amount of lead, top rope and bouldering. Super friendly staff.
There are a lot of bouldering routes that cater to all skill levels. More than enough to keep you occupied for the entirety of every visit. The routes are switched frequently enough to keep anyone from getting bored. Easily the best climbing gym I've ever been to.
Wonderful facilities and staff! They change the routes at a good pace so that you can tackle a project for a bit, but you won't get too bored.
Great atmosphere and welcoming staff. Whether you're checking out Grand River Rocks or taking the kids to Go Bananas, there's something for everyone. A definate must visit.
I love climbing here, lot's of good routes.
Really fun place to go indoor rock-climbing. Staff are usually friendly and helpful. You can rent all the necessary equipment. The space is quite large. Avoid Saturday afternoons as they get busy with kids' birthday parties.
My daughter wanted to have her birthday party here and we loved the whole experience. I was given all the details ahead of time and the staff was fantastic. They were super helpful, funny and overall everyone had a blast (even the girls who were here for the first time or who were less athletically inclined, they all ended up giggling, climbing and laughing with the group and the instructors). Everything nice and clean, all amenities, great price for what was provided, all the safety rules were enforced at all time and taken seriously, we have loved the whole experience!!!
Great place, friendly atmosphere and a good challenge for anyone of any age.
Lots of space to spread out over lunch hour and many auto belays and routes/varying degrees of challenges available to try out on your own if you're not with a belaying partner. Being fully vaccinated is required, but you also need to be wearing a mask even while climbing. Asked for consent if they could keep your info on file.
Best climbing gym on the continent
The best around hands down. Great quality setting and attention to detail. Great staff and owners. But be forewarned if you climb here your going to be spoiled vs. any other gym ;)
I'm not a very good climber, but I've been to a lot of gyms, this one remains my favourite in Canada.
Awesome gym and even better staff! There are so many options (Bouldering, Top roping, lead climbong) . I would recommend getting a harness and learning how to top rope (book in advance for a lesson)! The walls change often but they give you an ample amount of time to keep practicing before they change it! Prices are reasonable and the membership is totally worth it if you come often! Especially the yearly and monthly deals that are occasionally offered. 5/5 would recommend this climbing gym as it's a great place to learn a new hobby and even go for a date night!
Love this place!!
Great climbing gym!
Great climbing gym, has a lot of people who love to climb to get out and meet some new people
Our family had so much fun here. There are several auto belays so it works well to go with kids. There are also kids friendly climbs. The family pass is also very decently priced - especially if you have four kids like we do.
What can I say? This is my "home gym"; love this place. Great routes and great people.
Great walks and good staff. Friendly environment and highly useful classes on climbing technique.
It's always fun to go with a group of friends. The price is.. sort of reasonably priced? $20 for one session with an extra $5 charge for rock climbing shoes doesn't seem bad. Place is very large with many choices, friendly staff
It is dark and ugly, there was usually not an out-of-the-way place to stand/sit, and lots of the holds were grimey. I was home for the holidays and going around to lots of different gym. This one was by far the worst.
GRR is a lot of fun whether you go alone or with your friends, even with 0 climbing/bouldering experience (like me). They have a big bouldering area just inside the building, and rope walls on every inch they can manage, and the staff are great.
Excellent climbing gym for all climbing levels. A great selection of autobelay walls and a great boulder make it easy to get climbing for a novice. The staff are very friendly making this a wonderful gym to climb at.
Best rock climbing gym around. To bad it wasn't closer to my house! The Boulder problems are regularly changed which makes you want to come back soon and try and get the climb before it gone. Great for all levels. Children to elders. I recommend this place all the time!
I saw a guy doing the Batman once
Great staff. Best family atmosphere. A great climbing gym.
Great facility for beginners and pros alike. Even when it seems busy you'll always get a good chance to try a run, great staff and great variety
Great place; I like the long top rope climbs and the routes are rated quite accurately. I wish this place had some more competition in the area though as it gets busy sometimes, especially with kids.
10/10 would climb again
Great climbing gym. Very friendly staff and climbers.
Excellent gym with a good variety of routes and problems that change every week. Laid back and welcoming to climbers of all skill levels.
Really fun way to exercise! I just wish the hours were more open, its not exactly accommodating for anyone with an off scedule
Absolutely huge facility really well taken care of great music friendly people and fair prices
The place isn't actually that bad, me and my buddy who haven't been there in a while knew most of the rules. We got up off the bench and walked off of the mat to get to the concrete, apparently we we're fooling around just because teenagers have a bad reptutation. We are respectful kids we just didn't fully understand the rules.
Climbing at GRR is a must try. Warning: it’s addicting!
Great place. Courteous staff
Great place to climb and good service
Have to say it's a nice gym and a very well thought out design, staff friendly ... pebbles club not so good, to many groups and not a lot of space for the kids to place in different parts of the gym, staff wont go far to make a kid safe, witness a staff member stop at the yellow line and allow a child run under their rock island, then stating later to another staff member "I'm not risking it for a kid", a fellow gym member had to get the kid and bring back to there group leader... In short, you get what u pay
Man I miss this place! I pray this pandemic is lifted soon. Ameen.
This was my first time rock climbing, and I can say that it was amazing! My family and I started off with the bouldering, which was a little rough on the hands, but still fun overall. Then we moved on to the auto belays, which were the best part. We spent 5 hours rock climbing there! The prices were fair, and they have discounts for firefighters, students, police, etc. We got a family pass for 45$. 100% Would recommend!
Best bouldering faculty I've been to. Wide selection of routes to choose from for all ages. Very friendly and informative staff ensuring that everyone knows proper safety. Has rock climbing, fitness centre, small shop, change rooms, and water fountains. Decently priced and discounted to for students.
Great place, awesome atmosphere! Love the yoga classes, climbing and bouldering! :)
Really cool full of imitated rocks nice
I'm so glad they're still open!
Amazing climbing gym. I've climbed in aeeveral throughout southern Ontario and Canada for that matter. Highly recommend this place for beginners and skilled climbers alike.
Great place to be any day! Thank you!
Love this place and it’s people. Always supportive, kind and attentive to the needs of the members. Thanks for keeping us safe and climbing GRR!
Great gym
So many routes! So many variations!
Awesome Gym with awesome staff!
This is by far the best climbing gym in Ontario. I've been to the gym in Guelph, and several in Toronto and none are as fun as Grand River Rocks. GRR has all kinds of climbs, bouldering, lead and auto-belays and their staff are super friendly!
Love this place, it's great exercise and a fun time with the kids
Great for bouldering. I don't know why these guys don't have wifi, though.
GRR is so great! They do an awesome job of keeping new routs up and making the gym a fun place to be! Best place to learn climbing or Hine your already great skill!
A fantastic gym with great routes that are regularly changed. Also one of the few establishments which has policies that make sense, across the board. And the staff is great! I recommend it to everyone I know (and don't know)!
As a newbie, this place has great staff and great facilities. Loved the experience and will return many times!
Such an amazing community - excellent setting and marvelous staff.
i love it i made move of the year there
Absolutely love this facility! I have been rock climbing at multiple places including the indoor location at Whistler and Grand River Rocks proves to have more variety and a better environment than all others. Thanks for providing such a fun place to go for physical activity!
Good times, good people. Place could be a bit cleaner and less crowded.
Best climbing gym in Ontario, not just a great facility but very friendly.
Nothing but good things to say about this gym.
My kids love it!
Excellent choice of routes, ever changing.
Nice place!
BE WARNED: This place is packed with children. The children run everywhere, walk carelessly under climbers and take the majority of the space (truthfully, there is not much space). I feel it is completely unsafe for children and climbers alike. I understand the owners are trying to make the most money of it but it has gone too far.
I had went with my class and it was really fun the first time, but the second time there was a woman looking after us that was very rude and ruined my friends and I's overall experience that day. Other than this one person everyone else was very friendly and helpful when we were learning
Fun location. Hosted a birthday part for my son and it was great. The staff was very helpful and they take safety as a number 1 priority. The price is a bit high but you receive a quality experience in return.
Amazing staff! The rocks and routes are great but its definitely the people that make this place 5+ stars. The staff are friendly, accommodating and helpful.
Awesome staff, lots of variety in climbing walls both bouldering and belaying. Access to work out room and yoga studio as well.
A good place for rock climbing (top rope or lead) or bouldering. The routes changed on the regular basis so there is always new challenges for any level. If you can afford the price, you should try it out.
I have one major complaint! I find it infuriating that they won't let you stand on the mat for even a second just to show a friend something. It's a ridiculous rule. Even if you're not in anyone's way, you're not standing there while someone is climbing, they'll tell you to get off. If you want to show a friend how to grip a hold, or switch feet or anything, tough luck! Out of all the gyms I've been to this is the only place that does that. Much of what I love about climbing is community and working together. Not here though. If you're an experienced climber thinking of introducing friends to climbing or generally like working on problems with people, go elsewhere. RESPONSE: That doesn't help. Climbers are respectful. They always provide space for climbers to climb on their turn. So intuitively if there is 15ft clear to my left and right, and I explicitly say to the staff "I just need one second to show him how to switch feet", I was certain they'd say okay. You're not using intuition, it's a trump card. Perhaps it's for the greater good in your eyes and for your business, but if you care for the climbing experience of your customers, then there has to be a better way - especially if you're literally the only gym that I know if who does this.
The best gym around
A great climbing gym. Very lucky to have such a great facility with such great staff so close to home.
First timers. My wife, son(5) and I LOVED it! Friendly, Helpful staff. Lots of space. Definitely coming back again within the week. Will be looking at the Family Membership. Thanks!
Large facility with everything from bouldering, top rope, and lead
Great gym, great staff, phenomenal route setting.
The best place to get a workout and have fun doing it, hands down. Grand River Rocks has an amazing facility with an even more amazing staff (especially Taylor????????) willing to help and teach at any moment. If you wanna have fun and live a little bit more of a Healthier lifestyle I'd recommend you come and check them out. You won't be disappoint.
This establishment is discriminating against people with health issues and does not allow mask exemptions. Now after not allowing me access they are refusing to refund my membership. Very disappointed in the lack of humanity, and compassion. Disgusted by the refusal to refund me for services they are witholding of me.
Great place
The staff here is super friendly and helpful. The facility is clean and well kept. There's opportunity for every skill level.
awesome time. Kids loved and and can't wait to go back
What can I say, this place is an aweaome place to bring kids for a birthday party! The staff are great and very friendly, it's an activity that combines being physical and critical thinking, the kids see how it's an activity enjoyed by all ages, and they constantly make small adjustments to the facility so it never exactly the same climb ever time you visit.I always recommend this facility to anyone looking at something different for a birthday party idea.
great place
Excellent staff. Beginner friendly and lots of routes to try for bouldering. Top roping and lead climbing available as well. They also sell some climbing shoes/equipment (sometimes at lower prices than MEC). LOTS of parking space.
Really clean place with professional and friendly staff. I've only gone bouldering here a couple times so far but I absolutely love it and will go back many times over!
one of the best climbing gyms in southern ontario
Awesome gym????????
A wonderful place to go. Great mix of experienced and new climbers make for a welcoming environment. The staff are diligent in setting a safe precedent, which is important with so many new climbers learning the ropes. They also host regular classes and occasional workshops that can help you refine technique.
Fun places to climb. Decent price
We held a team event here on a Friday afternoon and it was fantastic. The team at GRR was friendly, helpful and a pleasure to hang out with. Not only will we return as a team, a lot of the team planned on returning on their own with other friends.
Bouldering setup is one of the best in Canada. Get ready to Rock!
Great place. Watching grandson climb is amazing. Good supervision and lots of encouragement from the staff.
I've been rock climbing both indoors and outdoor for over 20 years. This is a great indoor facility. They've always quickly addressed any issues brought to thier attention (ranging from coffee spills to a grigri that wasn't functioning properly to a rope that was pulled down by an over zealous child). My kids love it here and I'm happy to be able to introduce them to a sport that I've loved for so long.
Great place to learn to climb or improve your technique and strength if you already know how. The lesson instructors are patient and knowledgable and the routes are well set with well maintained walls and holds. There's almost always a new challenge and plenty of variety in the route and problem setting.
Good time and nice staff. Went at a quiet time which also helps a lot.
Great place. Lots of routes with a variety of difficulties. It looks like loose chalk is allowed, which made the place a bit hazy. All in all, a place I'd visit again.
As a heads up to all students hoping to get in with a student card they require you to also login to your student portal to prove its you so if you don’t have data you’re out of luck. Very crowded. Don’t recommend Monday nights for newbies. Otherwise was a fine experience.
Awesome place to go. My only wish is that you guys would consider opening earlier like at 10 am during the week as well. Im sure im not the only one but I can barely come to enjoy your facilities as I work from 2-10 pm everyday. I think you guys would get great business by doing that. Just my thoughts though other than that I love this Rock climbing gym :)
Another great weekend and another great climb. Went with the kids this past weekend and we had a lot of fun climbing and bouldering. As a GRR member I'm often there weeknights so being in on a quieter afternoon is refreshing from the crazy numbers present during the week. The pricing structure needs help. No rates for kids? What? They don't climb as much as adults and get tired or bored sooner. Much thought and improvement could be accomplished in this area. The routes which are being set are fair to their grade and engaging. I can see opportunity for a climber at any level getting involved and grow their skills.
Nice staff & route!
I love coming to GRR because there’s always a route or problem I haven’t tried yet. The bouldering is always a fun challenge and the top ropes are very varied with difficulty. Really great place to go if you’re a student as well - look out for their student deals
I was blown away by this place! I visited for the first time with my 5 y/o as part of the "Pebbles" program. It exceeded all expectations! I was exceptionally happy with the customer service. Several young adults running the show, and everyone from the front desk to the leaders of each group were very polite, courteous, and great with the kids. Will definitely return!
Love it here. It is like a community everyone is great!
Excellent customer service and extensive COVID protocol to ensure that customers are safe.
Staff is always really friendly and helpful!
A lot of fun. Great staff.
I went with my 5 and 8 year old. They loved it. I loved it. The staff was great.
Awesome. Both bouldering and toprope consistently have exceptional setting. I always stop by when I'm in town.
Great facility, good instruction... it got me into rock climbing! I love it.
Visits: 3 Cost: Reasonable This gym very much surprised me by just how quality it is. It's an older gym with limited lead climbing but the setting is among the best in Southern Ontario. The major concern with the gym is that its routes are not particularly clean and, while I've only been a handful of times, I got the sense that routes are not turned over particularly quickly. Lots of interesting features with a very low-stress environment and very fun climbs. While Core is newer and brighter, it's very hard to beat GRR.
I've been here a few times and different hours, even when they are busy there are still lots of open walls to climb in all levels. Their auto belay walls are great if you are climbing alone too. reasonable rates with discounts available for students and pre payment plans.
They have great bouldering areas and walls that range from beginner to expert. The staff are friendly helpful and Knowledgeable. This is a great place to bring the kids for the day and have some fun.
Love this place! very friendly staff and climbers. New sets regularly. They are doing a great job during covid keeping climbers safe with mandatory masks, frequent cleaning and climb by reservation.
This place is great. Been a member for a few months but been coming here for years. The Staff is awesome, the vibe is great and in general it’s just an awesome time
Great for kids. Didn't cost a fortune. A great family activity.
Love the Atmosphere, great place to climb staff is super friendly we love it!
Precovid review - great atmosphere, great routes, lots of fun!
Great spacious gym! Staff is very friendly and prices are fair.
Grand River Rocks is the place to go if you want to try something new! They offer intro classes to rock climbing, which are informative, safe and a fun way to get into it. The staff are incredibly knowledgeable and welcoming to beginners.
Lots of courses of varying difficult degrees for both top roping and bouldering, big space, and they regularly change up the courses. There are auto-belays on some courses which is great for solo top roping, saves beginners the hassle of learning how to belay (which they require you to book teaching in advance for). The first time I went the staff was very friendly, the second time one staff member seemed consistently annoyed as soon as I talked to her... not a huge deal, but it was upsetting to start what was supposed to be a fun day out with such poor customer service. Otherwise a great place to climb!
First time climbing today. From the online check in to the in person support, it was all round an excellent experience. Great cleaning and distancing throughout the facilities. An employee named Taylor helped us, made sure to check on us, and even encouraged us as we climbed. Shout out her for going above and beyond today. We will definitely be back- after our hands rest for a bit!
Has to be one of the best climbing gyms in Ontario! Tons of top rope, lead climbing, bouldering, and even autobelays. During Covid they are doing a fantastic job of cleaning and managing occupancy, as well as enforcing the wearing of masks. Check it out and be blown away at how amazing a gym and community they've built at GRR!
Great place, friendly staff, super fun!
need bigger change rooms. other than that, it's the best
There staff seem to let the children they are "watching" run around the mats and don't seem to care if they are being unsafe walking under other climbers. The children make climbing here hazardous and it's even more crowded than usual with the 20+ kids running around. Do not recommend.
Best climbing gym out of the 4 I've been to in Ontario. So many bouldering problems and top-rope routes, with a variety of grades for everyone. They also have a number of auto-belay walls. Very spacious too.
