Visited last year with a guest pass. I was very curious as they advertised a lot on the lower price compared to other guns. I had a positive impression in the facility. I thought that it was a great gym facility with enough room and a good variety of machines and a good selection of treadmills. There are enough machines for every level of fitness and the gym environment was great. Location is pretty central for those living in south calgary and their prices seemed to be very competitive and cheaper given that the gym facility is good. It was clean and organized. Two things lacking: First, front desk customer service was less than desirable. As a new and potential customer, I had questions but after a couple of seconds I realized they were not having a good day. I didn’t it mind this as much as you go to workout and distress and thought I could probably find the answers online. Second and also the main reason for me not to have join this gym was the service received at the daycare from the woman working there that day. It was clear that she did not enjoy working with kids and she did NOT understood them and it was clear she did not enjoy working there. I worked out for about 30 mins. and close to the daycare as I didn’t feel comfortable. No, is not a daycare but at least treat parents with respect and at least provide a smile or pay some attention to the little ones. Management should not be hiring just anyone specially someone who cannot communicate with parents nor to children. Hopefully this changes as the gym equipment is good and the prices are great but it makes a difference when the people working at a business where customer service is also as important as the facility makes a difference and would provide help with answers or simply providing help with equipment. But most importantly, I hope management takes more steps and regulates its policies for their daycare personnel by hiring individuals that may have at least experience working around children or in the vulnerable sector.

Our new favourite gym! The prices are unheard of too! $4.99 per week with unlimited guest passes and FREE childcare!!! For a guy with 2 small kids this is awesome. The staff are super nice and the equipment is all brand new. A beautiful place - go check it out!!!

I didn't like their policy when you do cancellation. They never said that i have to give 60 days notice. I joined it 1.5 year ago and due to bad health i never able to come. I just came once and they keep charging my card for 1.5 year. Today i went to cancel it and she didn't ask reason but said we will keep charging you for next 60 days. I am writing this review in a hope someone contact me back.

The gym is clean, there is lots of equipment and the changerooms are large and clean as well. The staff is always very friendly and helpful. It is a cheap monthly price, but the amount must come out of an account on a weekly basis, and you have to agree to a yearly contract which is non negotiable. It is worth it if you just want a cheap gym to workout at!

As someone that’s been training for years, I’ve been in and out of many gyms. Some bigger some smaller, but the atmosphere is what’s most important. The gym is not massive, but it’s inviting, clean and has plenty of great equipment. The price is very good and the staff are exceptional. Great place to train ????

I love this gym. It’s very affordable, great facilities, and is very clean. They did an excellent job reopening after the lockdown and I’m always comfortable working out. But what really wins it for me are the amazing friendly staff and personal trainers. The atmosphere is very welcoming, and I’ve met a lot of great people. Coming here has changed my life for the better! 100% recommend this place!

Nice gym but in the basement and therefore it has a low ceiling. Calisthenics is therefore not an option. The rules for the subscription are a bit confusing. But when you go there for long is cheap. Short term is really expensive and not really worth it I think. Better options. For normal fitness long term it's a good gym

A great gym for the price. Both changeooms have dry saunas and showers. The gym is usually boiling hot though theyve added some additional fans to try and help. It usually smells a little dingy because it's in a basement but recently has gotten much better.

The membership pricing is very reasonable and there is a decent variety of equipment available. That's where the good things stop. There is very poor communication between staff and management. My mother had an issue with her account and 4 seperate times was told a Manager would contact her but they never did. Similarly I had to follow up repeatedly about an issue I had because no one responds. You ask the staff who the Manager is and they can't give you a name. You ask for a card and all you get is one that says "Administrator" with a generic email. On every single visit there, we witness members using equipment and not sanitizing it when done. The staff say and do nothing and the two or 3 signs posted are not adequate at all. Overall the term "you get what you pay for" has never been more true.

Can't beat $2.99 or $4.99 a week. I chose the later so that I could do the fitness classes. Chix with stix with Jenaya is my favorite! Lots of well kept equipment and a great locker room with showers and a dry sauna (though some idiot threw water on it, so it's down for 6 weeks while they wait for the part that fried)! I've tried a few others, and this one is the best value for your money!

Update: After over a year as a member here, I completely stand behind my original review. The facility is as clean as day one, equipment is well taken care of, member input has caused them to make some awesome changes in regards to floor plan and additional areas. My favourite gym of all time, I hope I never have to move far out of the area or they get another facility so I can continue being a member! Original review: World Gym Calgary is unreal and unlike any gym I've ever been a member of. Right out of the gate you are greeted not only with a gorgeous facility, new equipment, but also the best customer service/guest relations I've ever witnessed. Many places actually promote themselves as No Judgement, but fail horrendously to live up to that promise, and working out when your uncomfortable is something that is hard to push past. World Gym is like working out at your buddies place, staff and other members alike greet you with smiles, have no problem letting you work in with them, etc. All of the equipment is exceedingly well taken care of, the facility is beautifully clean, even the music played is awesome if you leave your own tunes at home! I would honestly suggest you come in and give it a try. I'd be very surprised if you weren't as thoroughly impressed as I have been on every visit. With pricing on par with places like Fit4Less, you might wonder if it's worth it, and it most certainly is. Full amenities, showers, well kept. It's not a budget gym in the least, it just happens to have pricing on par! At under $21 a month for the VIP membership which includes extensive extras (Unlimited guest passes, tanning, hydromassage, group classes and more!), and just under $13 for the basic (Which in itself is fantastic as you have access to a huge variety of the best training equipment on the market) you really get your monies worth. On that note, the one year contracts themselves are easy to understand and give you a variety of options if you do unfortunately have to leave before the one year is up. This is nothing like Gold's, Goodlife, etc. where the contracts are pushed on you and the fine print is beyond confusing. Thank you all so much for bringing such an amazing facility to Calgary! Also a quick personal thank you to Ken and Jasmine who are just beyond amazing! Give this place a chance and you won't regret it!

This is, by far, the best gym deal in the city! Three tiers of membership options depending on what you are looking for and the amenities you require. All of the equipment is new, modern and the selection is great. All of the staff is friendly and helpful (even in the middle of the night - they are a 24 hour gym for the majority of the week) and the personal training staff seem great. The best $2.99 a week you will spend on your fitness goals!

This gym has it all. Great amenities, affordability, friendly staff, and a good location. However, I wanted to write in to give praise specifically to one of your yoga teachers, Roseanne. I'm a yoga newbie and I've been attending her classes. She is extremely talented but more importantly she makes me feel welcome as someone new to yoga. She creates an inclusive environment and offers alternatives for each pose ensuring that each participant feels comfortable. I usually attend her Stretch & Restore class (which is wonderful) but I decided to try Morning Movement today and was blown away! I came in feeling frazzled with holiday season worries. Through challenging poses and breath work, I got both physical and mental exercise and felt totally zen by the end of the class. I highly recommend World Gym Southland and Roseanne's yoga classes!

I ended up having to cancel my personal training within the 5 days grace period for a full refund of my deposit. I have been waiting since January 27th for a cheque in the mail and it's now March 4th. I have called numerous times and have gotten the run-around from everyone I have talked to. No one knows what is going on and I have been told, as of today, to wait another 2 weeks. This is unacceptable! They are so quick to get your money but to return anything is like pulling teeth. I wouldn't recommend this gym, they don't care about you, they just want your money. Go somewhere else!

I've been a member for just about a year and have loved it until recently. It's unfortunate they felt the need to remove the women's only area (which was a big draw to myself, and i'm sure a lot of other women who don't feel comfortable weight training in the coed area). When I inquired about the cancellation policy they didn't ask any questions just shut down my account and didn't allow me to use the remaining week I had even though they've already taken my money. From someone who used to manage a gym previously it's very sad that they just jump to cancel without discussing this with the client.

My only negative about this gym is the classes are not well attended and there is no space for a bike class but other than that I like it.

Tried to cancel membership due to the recent covid restrictions and they won't do it because they only care about taking your money, not your health. They think in 3 months this will all be over yet it's been going on since January so where they get their info I don't know. They should respect members wishes that they don't want to work out in a stank gym and catch something so just cancel the membership.

Unbelievable! Amazing price and beautiful, space. It is very well laid out, nice new equipment, not too busy and they have tanning and hydro massage plus sauna and showers/lockers. They also have group fitness and a large open gym area with TRX equipment. There is a friendly girl at the desk who is happy to show you around with zero! and I mean zero high pressure sleazy sales tactics. The price alone sells it. This deal is too good to be missed. Its about time someone came into the market and offered affordable high quality fitness memberships. Ill be there tomorrow morning to bring my banking info :-)

Staff is very nice but it clearly says $3 per week on the boards outside and on their website, but when we got there they said $15 for a day pass which shocked us and it is basically a lie that they are putting up and advertising which wasted our time going there cause we had to return back.

I've been a first time gym member for just under a year (recently reached my 100th visit; marked by "I feel good - James Brown" that played when I scanned in), and I will continue to go. Its a nice gym. The only downside is the fact that its hot AF downstairs. Needs more ventilation. I also understand that the gym cannot always control this aspect of the building as they are most likely renters/leasing that unit. However, everyone is super friendly and welcoming. Haven't had time to go to a class yet, but hoping to when my schedule frees up. Only downside about class schedule is there is not enough classes that are offered in the evenings, or even weekends. Some are hosted every 2nd day or twice a week which sucks.

I like this gym, don’t get me wrong. Always super clean, decent equipment, nice staff and never super busy. My rating is because the issue I have is much bigger than the things I mentioned above. This gym is a SAUNA. It’s so hot in the entire building, FOR A BASEMENT! I’ve mentioned this several times to the staff and they say it’s because the whole building is only controlled by ONE thermostat. This makes for a miserable work out, so miserable it’s not even worth the low price. I most likely won’t sign again once it’s done because of this issue. I also asked if this was a problem during the summer and the staff said depends on how many people are in the building.... no it depends if the damn AC is on AND maybe get some more fans or even industrial floor fans (those work great).I can’t even imagine what summer will be like. You can feel the heat the second you walk down those stairs, you start sweating before you start working out. Save your money, goodlife has good AC even with the stupid amount of people in there at once.

This gym is phenomenal! Today they re-opened after the Covid shutdown and the place was spotless. They have done an amazing job moving equipment around, cleaning protocols, and so much attention to detail. I wasn't sure about going back to the gym during this pandemic, but my fears were quickly erased upon entry. They have hand sanitizer, arrows and spacing on the floor to ensure proper social distancing and the staff were literally cleaning around the clock while I was there! The staff are always so friendly and they treat everyone like family. Thanks for keeping all the members safe and letting us get our workouts in!

Cannot beat the prices and equipment is well maintained. It's not super busy or crowded. My kids LOVE the childcare center! However; they need to be open 24/7 not just Mon-Thurs. Or at least 24 hours on Fridays and Saturdays as well. Also, the lockers are too small and the website is terribly designed. If you have a VIP PLUS membership, towel service should be included and not cost $2. And you have to ask every time you want into the VIP PLUS area. There should be a card reader that reads your VIP PLUS membership card. It is 2019 after all! lol All in all, a great gym just these few things that kept me from giving a 5 star rating.

Great gym great prices. You get so many extras like child care, variety of classes to go to, tanning and a hydro massage to end the work out. I compared that to Good life before I joined and they cant match the price. For 20 bucks a month it's a no brainer. That's the VIP price to people, you can do cheaper if you dont want the extras. The trainers are amazing. Currently working with Jairo. He is very knowledgeable and well trained. I would highly recommend trying out the trainers. I've learned so much in a short period Helping me get my mobility back on track. Thanks for opening a WORLD GYM guys.

Very disappointed in the communication with members. Apparently a text was sent yesterday advising about a new mask policy. I never received it!! I get messages if my account is behind but nothing about a mask mandate and then was refused entry. If you're not going to make sure everyone gets the message maybe you should supply masks ! I would've brought my mask if I knew I needed one. And how do you work out with a mask???!!! Very very angry right now

Well I went to a variety of gyms in Calgary, Edmonton and B.C area, this gym is definitely not the best gym I have been to. But it is one of the best i have been to and that's why I switched.. The gym is a decent size for a small, always clean and fresh(I have asthma and I never find it stuffy), all the equipment is perfect condition, most of the equipment will work for beginners and experts which makes this gym good for both serious goers and other who just want to be active or just beginners. The space is used so well you never have to deal with not finding a bench or warm-up area on top of that you get access to locker room with showers and dry sauna. I would recommend this gym any one interested in signing up for a cheap gym. And for the serious goers this gym has enough to keep you progressing towards new potentials (PRs), and improving your personal fitness.

I am not happy with the staff, the communication, and the "policies" that World Gym has. My husband and I told the gym in January (as our 1 year of membership ended at the end of January) that we wanted to cancel. They have some sort of policy where you need to give them 60 days notice to cancel, even though you sign up for 1 year only? And you can't cancel until 12 months have gone by. So you're membership does not end at 12 months, it's actually 14 months (which was March for us) and if you want to cancel you're adding on an additional 2 months from the point you want to cancel. Makes no sense. Not only that, my phone call wasn't enough, so we had to also tell them in person, which my husband told the front desk.And they told him it was all good, everything is set to cancel. They said they had documented all of this information and that we are set to cancel in March. After 2 separate conversations. So, we saw that payments stopped and that everything was in order. In June, when the gym reopened post Covid, they started to take payments out again. I called and said that we had cancelled, and I was told that we need to give 60 days notice. I couldn't believe the response. I explained everything ALL over again for a THIRD time. She then told me that no notes were on file, and that the manager needs to be notified. We called back on 3 more occasions after that, so this is now SIX times that we've explained the situation of cancelling back in January and providing 60 days notice until March. Each time, we have been told that no notes were on file about cancelling, no records, that we had to come in person. How do you not add any notes to either of our files after 6 conversations?? I'm not sure why the communication and documentation wasn't done after 6 conversations. Then finally, my husband talks to them today, and they offer a refund of $10? Although, we both have been charged, since June? You can see from the records we haven't even set foot in the gym since March. And apparently a manager has now said that it has been cancelled immediately? Why wasn't it immediately cancelled in June when I saw the first 2 payments (on each of our accounts) taken out? I'm going to keep an eye on my account and watch that we don't get charged again because I do not trust the staff at this facility. This type of customer service is completely unacceptable.

nice little gym, has everything for bodybuilding ,crossfit, even powerlifting. Only 205$ a year (key fee, initiation fee and other junk fee included). Things I don't like: Missing 35 lb (AKA fake 45) plate. Flat bench is too low for dumbbell bent over row, seated hamstrings machine has a bad design, some machine need alignment mark to help the user to properly adjust seating position.

Nice equipment that's all brand new, staff are friendly and welcoming, they seem to fix things quickly when they are broken or need maintenance. It is a very standard gym contract you will sign that being said be sure to read it so you're not surprised when you can't cancel on a whim. The prices are amazing, you won't find another gym with quality like this for this price.

I signed up for VIP so that my wife could join me when she wanted. But all the sudden the gym is now saying they changed there policy and don't care about the contract. I will be selling or dropping world gym as soon as possible. I am very disappointed in the way the handle it, they obviously don't care about their patrons they only want the money. I was looking forward to this gym too. All they said to me is "You have to read the fine print" please don't sign up for this gym save your money for something better.

I have been going to various gyms for 20 years. This one is great, however, only 4 stars due to pressure from trainers to sign up for personal training. It's happened to me twice in the last 2 weeks. Be careful if someone calls you saying you've won an hour with a trainer....just a way to get you into their high pressure office. Also be careful asking for a trainer's help..you'll end up having to schedule a meeting for more high pressure. But all gyms are like this, I should have known better.

This place is awesome. Great equipment and great monthly price. Staff are super friendly. Trainers are knowledgeable and great to work with. The massage chairs come very handy. They have a heat sauna rooms in each bathroom, with showers and lockers (daytime use only). There are a variety of different classes offered here that are part of the monthly fee. They also have a HITT zone area.(Costs more monthly).

Great gym. All equipment is newer and is in good/great shape. Very clean both in the gym and change rooms. The standard pieces of equipment are in high demand, free weight benches and squat racks but that’s the same as most gyms. VIP plus members have a private area that is much less busy. Lots of cardio equipment. Never an issue there. Lots of free weights both dumbbells and barbells. Staff is great, membership prices are incredible value. I drive past half a dozen gyms to use this one and am very happy. Could probably use a little more AC in there, I find it quite warm so you get a heck of a sweat on but maybe that’s just me?
