I made a review giving them 5 stars at first but now I have issues. We froze our accounts because we have college but instead they made us pay an extra 25$ because our money didn't go threw and it turns out they only froze one of our accounts, so we still had to pay 30$ for that. Then we have to pay double the money because one of us was on a family plan even though everyone is on there own separate accounts. DON'T GO HERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO PAY HIDDEN FEES AND EXTRA CHARGES. We spent hundreds of dollars today to just fully cancel our account but it's better than feeding them. Very poor customer service and bad attitudes.

We love Motion Fitness!! We have been members for a few months now and find it to be amongst the best value in town! Not only is it very reasonably priced, you have more than you need and this location has never been crazy busy when I go so workouts are done on your schedule. Does it have everything you will ever want? No, but it's clean, it's freindly, equipment is more than adequate and they have the class side with grappling and kick boxing so it's a well rounded fitness experience!!!

I was excited for this gym to open. There was so much potential. You guys have a gigantic, beautiful new building to work with. But you absolutely butchered the equipment selection. Such a shame. Pros: - Staff are friendly and greet you when you come in. Minus the manager, who seems like he could really care less. - Big building, nice change rooms, nice facility. Its visually pleasing. - The hydro massage chairs seem cool. I haven't actually tried them though, as they are always occupied, even late at night. Cons: - DBs only go to 70 lbs. - Not enough benches in the DB area. - No preacher/spider curl in the DB area. - No squat racks. - No BB bench presses. - No BBs anywhere to do deadlifts with. - Huge "Monkey Bars" wasting even more space. - No handles/attachments by the T-Bar Row. - Not enough handle variety for the cable crossover. - The only functional trainer is located in the Personal Training only area. - There are no EZ bars. Neither the preset racks, nor the plate loaded ones. - The floor is SO SLIPPERY. They waxed it, they shouldn't have. Its a safety hazard. I have almost slipped numerous times. The worst part is, its starting to get on the machines, and your feet will slide off the machines. Someone is going to get hurt. - The Personal Trainers dont know what they are doing (Some of them). I feel bad for the people paying for this service. - There are 4 shoulder press machines... Why not bring in some more variety instead? Or even perhaps machines that get used more often, like pec decks. Seriously, Good Life Fitness opens in 3 weeks and they are right down the street. You guys are going to get blown out of the water. We all get that you are targeting the out of shape demographic that doesn't know what they're doing. But even they are going to see through the shenanigans.

After the world gym went under with everyone's credit card and banking info, motion fitness offered a great rate and 2 floors of gym space to get our pump on. this is the most ideal gym in Red Deer. never did the MMA side so cant say much about it, greatest gym.

I just wanted to edit my review to say I've very much enjoyed my experience with this gym for the whole year I've been going. The Gan Soo Do martial arts class not only motivated me to get my body into the best shape that it's ever been, but has inspired me again and again to be the best I can be. It's a great big class with an amazing group of people who all just want to see each other succeed and I wouldn't trade this experience for anything. Gan Soo! ✊

Best gym in red deer. Very affordable, modern facility, nice staff, not overly crowded (I go at night though) also super clean. Boarder line too clean; which is my only complaint. the floors are very polished so you can slip easy if you're wearing socks. Just don't run if you're not wearing shoes and you'll be good. You know what i mean if you go there lol

Nice gym! They just opened and it seems they're doing what they can to make their clients happy, like getting a squat rack or two. Lots of space! A cardio cinema, a private training room, a UFC gym and cage and the best part.... great staff. The 1st year is always the hardest but I think they'll do just fine. They're listening to their clients and are attentive in every way. I was impressed with their friendliness and a gym they're making for two different kinds of athletes; UFC and MMA fighters, along with gym-goers.

Staff were super nice,accomodating and approachable. I would like to commend motion fitness for including GANSOODO martial arts in their classes. I love this class so much especially when your interested learning combative skills. Its like hitting 2 birds in one stone.. You're getting physically fit at the same time you're learning different martial art style. Master Steve is phenomenal trainer. No wonder he was world champion!!! .. Im enjoying our grappling/submission lesson. Hopefully motion will have additional mat soon, our class is getting big.

I've been going regularly for about 3 months now. I see a few reviews here with negative feedback about the staff. I've had no issues whatsoever, in fact they all seem personable and easy going. The facility is very well kept and maintained. Plenty of parking. Comparable membership cost.

Started up in march this year to take my weight loss to the next step. All the staff working are super friendly and very helpful! If anyone is looking to work with a trainer I can't reccomend Landon Schultz enough. If you put the time and effort in this guy will get you the results you're after. Dropped from 230 to 207 in 4 months while gaining strength.

Huge rip off. Tried to charge me an extra 270$ in November, after I’d already canceled my membership previously in March. All because THEIR billing system did not properly charge my credit card for my last payment. Did not do anything to fix or apologize, still had to pay most of bill for their mistake.

I joined this gym without a consideration of trying via a free trial than I went and tried the 3 day visitor pass at good life and got a tour and fell in love. Plus I got a weird judgy vibe from the staff as i walked in two weeks ago to sign up. Dont feel like walking in to cancel wish i could cancel online because that would work best for me. Does this gym have a sauna or steam room if not ill stick with good life. I felt amazing walking in there doors and they have everything ive ever wanted in a gym.

I have been going with a family member for several weeks now, because he has a membership that allows one person to go with him for free. I am now considering getting my own membership, as it pretty much has everything for a very reasonable price. I particularly enjoy the cardio cinema. I go late at night after work, and contrary to others, I have found the staff friendly and accommodating. They keep the facility in tiptop shape, keeping the cleanliness in place at the end of the day. I highly recommend Motion Fitness!

Open 24 hours. It’s great if you have a ufc membership as well because on a busy day you can cross over to the ufc side and take a class or work the heavy bags. Really clean, reception is super nice. Going here here definitely has some benefits.

I do love this gym. But there are a few things I'd change. Slippery Floors being one. Flexible payment dates. Some of the cardio machines are lose and klanky already and there are still some pieces of equipment or simple upgrades I really wish they would get. Something simple like a box jump would be amazing. Floor ladders. Weight sleigh etc. I train for my sport so agility and footwork is important to my workout. I also bring people constantly to check out the gym and sign up. I have brought at least 10 new members in 3 months. I didn't appreciate staff bringing up a previous payment being late in front of a guest I brought. It has massively soured me to this gym..

DO NOT GIVE YOUR CREDIT CARD TO THIS COMPANY Long story short, I have been cancelling my membership via email through The manager Hussain and customer service. They have been charging me every two weeks plus penalties from when I canceled my credit card to try and stop them. I think as of May 31-2018 I have not been charged finally. But now Hussain will not respond to me about the monies owed. I have a paper trail of proof.

Really nice gym, always clean, friendly staff. They could definitely use a couple more bench presses and squat racks, because i find they're usually taken if you go any time other than late at night or early in the morning. But for $10 a month, I'm not complaining.

Amazing price! You get what you pay for though. Really crowded, especially since they rearranged the gym recently. They could definitely use another squat rack and another chest fly machine, and more space in general for free weights. It has never made sense to me why they dedicate so much room for the UFC side when the regular side is packed. Either way it's still worth the unbeatable price :)

Read this before you join: it SEEMS like a great deal but they play wayyyy too many games with random fees, doubling your rates, then say "oh we're so transparent, it's all in the contract." Why don't you just say "no commitment but you can't cancel because we'll just keep charging you for months because we have zero business ethics." Complete scam. Me and like 15 friends all left this stupid place and went to a real gym that costs the same but doesn't play games. Good luck.

If there was a 0, I would definitely put it. All what I can say that they find their way to take your money. Policy cancellation is 60 days notice and they take their money every 15 days and more, they took the annual fees even when we were there for only 1 month and then, we canceled. Not recommended at all.

I cancelled my account in Nov 2020. Was told my FINAL bill would be put through Jan 2021. The Gym reopened in March after a round of COVID lockdowns and low and behold, I get charged a HUGE FEE. I call and ask what is going on and NOONE HAS A RECORD OF MY CANCELLATION? They tell me to come in and see a manager the next week and then it shuts down again and NO MANAGER ON SITE. This cancellation headache has cost me literally hundreds of dollars. AVOID THIS GYM.

Most of the 1 star reviews are stubborn people not wanting to follow AHS guidelines, which IS NOT Motion Fitness' fault. I have been a member for nearly two years and never had a single negative experience. Not only is Motion Fitness the most affordable gym in Red Deer, it is extremely well stocked considering the monthly fees. The staff is extremely friendly and the owner goes above and beyond to ensure people have good experience at his establishment. After a payment issue with my membership (my fault), their team waived a huge fee for me. As a student, my gratitude cannot be understated. They were overly gracious resulting in the best customer service experience I have ever had. You'd be a fool to pick another local gym over this one. Read the right reviews.

Started going here a couple weeks ago with co workers and on a 3 day pass and am getting my own membership now. Love tanning and the 30 minute circuit. I'm excited to use massage chairs and red light treatment.. I've gone at different times of the day and it can be intimidating, but the one front desk girl (Desiree I think) is so nice she always makes me feel comfortable! Thank you!

Read B4 you SIGN!! When you cancel yer membership you will be charged 2 months to cancel. Depending on what you've signed up for it can add up. Also, when i initially went in to cancel an employee gave me a Cancel Membership page. 5 weeks later i saw Motion Fitness charges on my online bank statements. I went in showing them the contract i signed and the manager said it wasnt filled out properly. Than i demanded he shut my account down NOW! To wrap up i have the 5 weeks and 2 months currently in collections. See you in court!

Poor limited/cheap equipment choices (basic functionality and adjustment), rendering only two identical machines per major muscle group - example1: the main back extension machine doesn't even have a seatbelt or handles to keep your butt planted, so once you reach ~70% of your body weight, you can't use it properly.. example 2: The chest press machine requires you to push down on a foot pad to bring the handles into a safe starting position - the heavier the weight, the harder it is to get into that position given the mechanical design and even more dangerous if you succumb to fatigue during the exercise and don't remember to use your legs to reduce the load. Avoidable with better engineered equipment.... Only 2 cable machines which get used up if someone is doing cable flyes. Cable attachment selection is very basic. The weight stacks aren't very heavy either and a moderate fitness enthusiast will quickly outgrow it. Slippery floors and equipment foot pads (plastic pads!), I slipped once to the ground and many exercises were rendered useless due to lack of stable footing (cable row is very dangerous in that regard, and hyper extension to name just two) 70lbs dumbbell max, so forget about rows or chest presses. I think they have squat racks now after many complaints (and a smug Manager telling me I would have needed to pay for UFC access just for a rack), and a fixed incline bench (which should have been adjustable for decline/straight/incline). I didn't notice any designated space or ample plates suitable for deadlifters, again a basic gym staple. I find the financial policies shady and designed to milk you: They will charge you Annual Maintenance Fee even after you have cancelled (any other gym I've been to won't charge you this after cancellation - cash grab, and should only apply a year into your membership to be fair IMO, not 2 months in - designed this way I suspect to catch the disappointed pre-sale members with extra fees before they leave). When you cancel, you are asked to sign a digital pad before you are issued your printed cancellation notice - so you have signed a document BEFORE you've even had a chance to read the Cancellation Terms. Deplorable. Cancelling requires 2 months notice (who needs that length of time? Again, cash grab). So while the "no contract" notion is good for advertising, in reality it's effectively a short term contract no matter what you do, and the extra Maintenance Fee (for a brand new gym) is salt on the wound. The perceived low bi-weekly cost ends up costing you more than you think. The change rooms are upstairs and to the back of the cardio area... this layout doesn't make any sense when you remove your footwear at the front door, and saunter upstairs across a very slippery floor/staircase - So remember to put on your indoor footwear first, (and take them off again to change...le sigh) A minor complaint but just leaves me scratching my head. Final thoughts: Motion had lots of potential for the location and size, but the lack of attention to the fitness experience, safety concerns, many oversights, and drawn-out fee structure places this gym on the bottom of Red Deer offerings.

Raised prices without proper communication. they have an app why not notify through the app? There is a review dated a month ago talked about how the policy for cancellation is 30 days not 60. They will still have you do 60 days notice (and use: "that's the new member" excuse) and still charge you for those 60 days. However the photo included with this review clearly states the entire policy was changed. If you are looking for a gym in Red Reer this is not it.

Leaving this gym because 1.The floor is slippery 2.Equipment is slippery 3.Staff is rude, more interested in their phone's than members So I cancelled my membership, Only to find out I was still being billed for my membership. So I called head office and found out that you have a 60 days notice of cancellation, I was not told this / do not remember reading this. Plus, most people here are "UFC fighters", and have to prove it by creepishly staring at you the whole damn time.

As a general rule I don’t leave negative reviews but this place really let me down. I was a happy member for 3 years. I asked for a few months pause for personal reasons. Then manager offered me 4 months for free. I asked to read the contract before I signed. It didn’t say 4 months free, instead it said “we can change the price without telling you”. —Who would agree to that? I refused to sign the new contract and insisted I get the deal that the manager offered me. Then the manager lied about offering me 4 free months and canceled my membership outright. I was baffled because I would have continued being a member for years to come. I protested my treatment to the head office and they tried to trick me into signing a cancellation contract so they could get 3 months of payments out of me. But my contract was already ended by the unprofessional and spiteful manager (evidently against company policy ????). This company has poor business practices and needs to be called out. You should find a better gym. You should also tell all your friends to never go near this place.

They gym is good and the pricing is good. However, a significant percentage of people who pay for monthly gym memberships, rarely use the gym, which essentially means free money for gyms. Its kind of similar to gift cards, only 75% of people use them, which means big free money for businesses. My issue with Motion Fitness is the 60 day cancellation policy. Although I signed the contract, I feel its an unjust business practice to continue to charge someone after service has been discontinued. Especially if there is no loss to the business. I was not only charged the monthly rate, but also the (enhancement fee).

The gym was decent and was relatively clean. When I wished to end my membership, I searched the website and couldn't find where to do so after 30 minutes. I then decided to call and had to wait an hour and a half with only one person ahead of me before I hung up because I have other important things to attend to. Also, every minute or so their operating system urged me to leave a message, which I did not want, and it became very annoying and only made the situation more frustrating. I have yet to end my membership.

I haven't been at Motion Fitness for about 4 months due to COVID. I am fairly certain that during my time off the staff have somehow made the weights heavier. I surely couldn't have lost any strength with all the hard work I was doing playing Call of Duty. Tons of sanitizer around. Cleaning going on constantly. The morning regulars, like myself, are really good about cleaning before and after using the equipment. The staff are really nice and know how to say nice things that aren't true to an old man like me to make me feel good about myself. What more can a person say. It's a place to go, attempt to lift heavy things repeatedly and feel bad about your life choices. Thumbs up from me!

I love this gym. It's the only gym i've ever been to where you don't need to "sign out" equipment, and everything is well kept and clean. It's a very nice environment. The only downfall with this gym is the very slippery floor. Watch your step or put your gym shoes on immediately at the door.

As a whole I do enjoy this gym..however the cleanliness is extremely low! Super gross in many areas. My suggestion would be to add more cleaning towels or have it so each person can have their own cleaning towel instead of the community cesspool rags because that can not be sanitary. Another suggestion/wish would be that they hire some cleaners!!!!! The showers are dirty and the equipment is dirty (mostly in places where the customers don't clean....) and the last thing I would suggest is that the staff be better trained, most are good and knowledgeable but there are a few who are not and who arent super friendly either which is unfortunate to the good ones. Please step up your game motion fitness you have so much more to live up to!

Used to be a good gym, not anymore. They increase the price without any prior communication and lie to their members. Price increased from $10 bi-weekly to now $21 bi-weekly. They don't pick up their phone and the front desk staff just refer you to their manager, who is of course not available. Highly recommend NOT going to this gym and cancelling your membership. You do not need to give a 60 day notice, that's a lie. Do not pay them any money and call your credit card company to cancel any future withdrawals from them.

I have already canceled my membership once and foolishy signed up again. My issue the first time was because of how one of the staff members treated my mother, but the vibes and open space drew me in again. I have had nothing but poor experiences with their payment plan, and they have taken up to 3 payments at a time out of the blue, and when I try to call the front desk there is always no pick up. I've never been as sold on the idea of a gym as this place. You get great bang for your buck, as there is a premium membership you can get which gives you unlimited access to classes such as kick boxing; and many others. It's a brand spanking new building and is well set up and designed, very modern, and suits people from all ages. You really can't go wrong with how cheap this place is for what you get. If you're having a hard time choosing a place to go work out I'd recommend this gym! The staff are friendly and it is staffed 24/7 which is super convenient!

Super busy can barely get on any equipment at busy times,barely any floor space and not enough equipment for all the members they have going there. Went to cancel my membership and gentleman helping was nice untill we told him wed like to cancel he then got quite rude and unfriendly. Also was told we would stop being charged withing 2 weeks but in reality we are still having to pay for another 2 months. Not to mention all the pervs that go here to watch women workout,extreamly uncomfertable and disappointed with service. Sure it's cheap but wouldn't recommend.

I loved this gym when I first started going. However, the staff seem more involved in their phones than to their work. One thing I've always HATED about this gym is the floors!!!! They are SO DAMN SLIPPERY!! We thought it was just because the gym was new and it'd go away but no. Simple exercises like planks are impossible to do because your feet slide out from beneath you. Even the stairs on the UFC side are like a damn oil slick. It's dangerous. Yeah I signed a safety waiver, but Motion needs to create a safe workout environment. I'll be going to GoodLife as soon as my membership runs out ****UPDATE**** I cancelled my membership July 11 and I'm STILL being charged for it! Called head office numerous times today clarify these charges, no answer. DO NOT GIVE THESE GUYS THE TIME OF FREAKING DAY LET ALONE YOUR CREDIT CARD NUMBER!

I have traveled all over Alberta and lived in Grand Prairie, Peace River, Lethbridge, Outside Calgary, Medicine Hat and now Red Deer and this has to be one of the least common courtesy gyms I have ever been to. Not only do people hog machines and give attitude when you ask to work in, people will see what your next weight is to lift and jump in front of you and hog that weight. Not to mention how difficult it is to get in a chest day in this gym between the hours of 9-9, not enough benches at all. When the gym is alone it has a lot of potential for people looking to make gains or weight loss but if the gym is mediocre busy, every workout is interrupted to the point I had to create super-sets so I didn’t wait so long inbetween lifts. I have never noticed the impact people around you make on your workouts because it’s never been an issue to ask to work in or have had people jump in front of me to take a weight but it’s is extremely frustrating when you have a workout plan and that can be impacted by John Smith hogging the machines.

This place is by far the best gym I've come across yet. They offer one free training session with a personal trainer , drop in classes for various martial arts and exercise routines , tanning, red light cell therapy, hydro massage, cardio theatre, and state of the art equipment. Not to mention the staff are excellent. There was an issue with my billing on my credit card, they were quick to realize the mistake and corrected it immediately as well as follow up to make sure that the payment came out correct. Very friendly. My only concern is the super slippery floors which can be kind of dangerous , however as long as you stay on the mats during your workout all is good :)

Upped my membership charge without letting me know. Refused to let me cancel my membership although they are closed to normal workouts to to covid. Took out maintenence fees without letting me know when they were due when I needed the money. Jips people out of their money for sure.

really irritating there's no teen plan, no family plan unless there's 5+ in your family. It's annoying for a no contract place you have to let them know 3 months in advance if you need to stop. very difficult if you lose your job or something.

2 squat racks and deadlift platforms. 1 bench press stand and dumbbells that only go to 80# . Minimal amount of machines etc. Price is cheap and that's what you get. Not enough equipment and the UFC side is empty. What a waste of space.

This review is a heads up for all those who are thinking of/going to Motion Fitness. The staff missed to guide us through how the process worked and ended up making two accounts without our knowledge, as a result there was a crazy amount of money that we needed to pay and a really unpleasant argument with some of the staff. sure not everyone has gone through this but I sure was really bitter for a bit before I got over this whole unpleasant situation.

Two weeks ago, I received a call saying that I have a $615 owing, I forgot to cancel my membership. I assumed that my membership would be cancelled right away if I don't pay or update my credit card but it turns out that the system will still collect money. They have been sending emails about my membership but did not receive any because I had an old email info with them. I know it’s my fault and I’m aware I’m not paying my dues. This has become a lesson learned to me that it's better to ASK than ASSUMED. Yesterday, I explained myself to the manager nicely. So far, the manager gave me a good solution offer. He is highly professional and really cares for the members. They are truly helpful. Thank you so much for the great customer service!

Unfortunatelly, I had to cancel my membership today, as they don't honour medical exempts; it is not normal to exercise with your face covered at all, even for healthy people, and for people with health issues, including mental and physical, it is impossible!!! So sad that management and the owner bent to this insanity, even after getting my dr note, so they are legally covered; luckily, there are some local gyms that understand how exercise and health works, honouring mask exempts, so I am switching there Shame ......

Nice facility and staff are helpful, however impossible to get anyone on the phone which requires you to physically go to the gym to get questions about fees or memberships answered. If you do phone in, you are in a loop of automated messages that constantly has you pressing '1' to stay on hold! This causes a lot of frustration and the poor staff probably get an earful by the time the person gets there. Might want to rethink your phone-in support process!

PLEASE BE AWARE At the beginning of COVID-19 I placed my membership on hold until September. As a frontline worker with a highly vulnerable population I still do not feeling comfortable returning to gym anytime soon, so I recently went in to cancel my membership following the membership contract polocy of giving 60 days notice (could not cancel via phone). I was told I would still have to pay for 2months of fees even thou my account was on hold with next payment not due until September. No where in my contract does it state that a cancellationcannot be made while on hold. When I asked if there was someone else I could speak to I was told to call their head office, when I asked for the phone number I was told to google it. Upon doing so I was met with the same too bad attitude by the phone attendant, stating "that's how we are trained. When cancelling while on hold it automatically reactivates the membership and charges an additional 2 months of fees before canceling". Well it would be nice to include that piece of information on your membership contracts. When I asked this staff member if there was someone else I could speak too I was directed to a managers voicemail, and although they responded relatively quickly, all I got was an apology that their contract is not clear on that point. They are still going to take their last 2 months of fees from my account.. and believe me it is the last.

Still taking money 8 months after being told not interested in attending gym. Random debit amounts bi-weekly (or more frequently if they feel like it). Bank launched an investigation into this and had to get a new account to stop this. Management team is useless and unwilling to admit their faults. Head office just transfers you back to speak to “management on location.” DO NOT RECOMMEND YOU GIVE ANY INFORMATION TO THEM - ESPECIALLY BANKING.

By far one of the shadiest gyms I've ever been too . Signed me and my fiancée up on a family membership, have only been to the gym twice since getting it . Was told it would be 20.99 biweekly , all of a sudden there's a charge on my bank account for 77.00 on top of the 20.99 as well, I call to find out what it's about and the lady I spoke to was very rude in answering my questions . It was not explained when I signed up for the membership that there's a annual thing for 77.00 I still to this moment do not understand what it's for because it wasn't made clear to me during sign up or by the lady on the phone. And then I say I want to cancel my membership I have to come in and give 60 days notice . That is ridiculous so I have to pay this company for 2 months for a service I won't even be using any more . This is disgusting and this company should be ashamed of itself .

The gym itself is a great facility, however cancelling your membership is a nightmare. Between their "60 day notice" policy, which allows them to charge 2 months more of payments, trying to stay open by saying they are still open to members and their "trainers" until they got in trouble for that. They are in it for the money and can't believe they still were charging fees while the facility was closed to the public! Ridiculous. Go somewhere else...

I am outraged. I went to this gym twice with my friend on the “bring a buddy” at no cost agreement. August 17th, I revive a ‘Final notice’ in my mail. I owe $267.51 for a GYM MEMBERSHIP I NEVER SIGNED UP FOR. They said I’m being sent to collections over an ‘unpaid agreement’ I never signed. Ever. The only info I ever gave them, was the liability waiver for attending their gym. No payment info, no contract. Nothing. I am literally disgusted with the way this is handled. I’ll be sure to let everyone know not to come here, and they can go to the competition for better service!

I wish they make up their mind regarding promotion or provide the proper info to their clients .they totally missled us ..we spoke to 3 different people before signing in for the promotion in the new year you buy one membership and you bring a friend ..that part is good ????.. what upsets???? me we went thru the whole process regarding the use of the facility we we're told 3 times it was ok for my friend can use the tanning the massage chair and the light ..my friend came with me 3 time and use all the facility including the spa but today we get there and not even 5 days into the membership we are told by a guy in front desk that was not very friendly and defenitly didn't want to take his time to explain nothing about what we were told to us 3 times to us.. that now my friend is NOT untitled to any of the spa department .. REALLY..Di you actually train your staff !?! Or just get anyone that look decent to work in a gym environment and makes you a sales . all your staff should be on board when it comes to any promotion ..or the rules of your gym ..not very impress ..

Very sneaky people to take money from your account! Cancelled membership 2 months ago but then told me that I have to pay for the next 8 weeks before they will cancel my account. I understand it’s the policy and I still continue paying it until the last payment came out yesterday and without even informing me that they will take out an enhancement fee. The company did not even verbally disclose this at the beginning when membership started. Very very sneaky and dishonest way to take money from other people.

HORRIBLE management! I was charged while they were closed. I asked to cancel when they were about to lockdown again and they said they couldn't because my account was frozen, meaning no payment would occur. Then they charged me a week after because "they are open for 1 on 1" which they did NOT let me know. They said that payment would be used for a credit for my next payment. Instead of doing that, they charged me again yesterday. Would indefinitely not recommend this gym to anyone.

In the age of email and other forms of communication, this is unacceptable. Cancelled soon after they reopened and will have to continue paying until September due to their 60 day cancellation policy. I will never renew a membership here as a result.

They have a couple good trainers but the one that is in management has no PR skills. I’ve tried to make contact for a month and a half and to date he has not contacted me. Do to an injury I requested that my account be out on hold until I could return. Well I had to stop payment as this didn’t happen even after he was going to look after it. Not only did they try again they took double the amount out of my account. Clients are nothing to the management except a dollar figure. I never authorized this amount to be debited and will be going to the bank right away. Watch your accounts. If issues talk to staff but don’t expect anything (even a courtesy call) from management. Very disappointed in the treatment I received especially since the injury is from there to begin with. My suggestion is to ask a lot more questions than I did any other gym would put you on hold so your not paying for nothing.

Do not sign up for this gym. I was trying to figure out why they had such a overall high rating, and started looking at the 5 star reviews. Many of them were posted by people who have never been to this gym (look at the ones that mention russel) and don’t live in red deer all these people posted 5 star reviews for the same places in Texas and Pennsylvania. It is clear there are many fake reviews that were paid for to boost their reviews. That is the level of integrity you are dealing with here. They have predatory practices and make cancelling your membership almost impossible. They can somehow manage to Bill you over email, but you have to physically go there in person to cancel. Even after you cancel they still bill you. I moved, but cancelled back in March, and they are still billing me.

Do not sign up for this Gym!! You will agree to one price and then they will change it without asking or telling you. And they make it near impossible to cancel your membership if you try. The prices seem good to start, but their business model relies on folks signing up and never using their facilities. The gym is very dirty and the staff working there are near useless.

Was a bit disappointed to find out that Leo is no longer doing personal training on the motion side, as I find his training invaluable and after 3 gyms and 3 trainers, I finally found someone that took the time to help me eat right and encourage the workouts I needed. I will continue to work out at motion, and UFC, but if Leo isn't doing Personal training on motion side, don't really have an interest in any other trainers

2 out of my first 3 free visits were aweful. The customer service is horrible. The first time arriving, the gentleman was neither helpful or willing to help me find the best option for a membership. Put me on hold multiple times to take a phone call while 2-3 other staff members are chatting away behind him. Telling me I have to sign up on my phone. That ended up not working, he then said in a condescending manner, “oh I could just do it for you on my computer.” Taking him a total of less than a minute to do so. At this point, I have been at the desk for 15 minutes. Once I’ve been okay’ed to go in by signing me in with the computer (being unaware due to the lack of communication and service), he proceeds to tell me to WAIT as he takes another call. After 10 minutes being on the phone, he looks at me in confusion and says, “can I help?” I replied by stating, “you asked me to wait”. And in the most condescending way, proceeds to laugh and say, you could have gone in. I have to then ask others in the gym, as this is my first time, where all the amenities and wifi are. My second day experience, I come to the front desk, and wait for an employee to sign me in, as the first gentleman did not set me up on my phone for a scan in (free trial) if there is one.. again was not introduced to anything or unaware of how everything works. So I wait at the desk to get my second free entrance. And I wait 15 minutes at the desk with no staff in sight. I climb over the gate, and look around and still no one. After about 5 more minutes, one staff shows up from who knows where and... surprise, surprise, no courtesy or customer service. The gym is always packed, no one wipes or cleans off their equipment and the gym etiquette is horrible. Why did you go again you might ask? My local gym was closed for family day. If i can try to avoid this place I do.

Very poor gym. Russel the manager is terrible, to spineless to deal with problems. As soon as I can will probably switch gyms, so therefore can't comment on issues with cancelling membership, but reading reviews will probably have an issue with that as well. Trainers at the gym are great. Equipment at the gym is good enough, even though the broken down equipment just gets stored around the gym with yellow caution tape around it. Which makes me wonder what their yearly $80 equipment maintenance fee does? Another problem I have with this gym, personally, is that through Covid people have been more aware of shopping and supporting local, which is amazing. This gym on the contrary does not support local. Several staff are not local. When they did renovations, weeks after Covid restrictions were lifted and shut down half of the gym, all the workers vehicle had Saskatchewan plates. This gym doesn't support local, I think the best course of action would be to show the owners in Okotoks that what goes around comes around. Don't be fooled this is a Corporate gym, like Goodlife, without the benefits that Goodlife can offer. In closing I would give this gym a 1/10 rating Would Not Recomend.

Havent even managed to sign up yet. Drive from the other side of town on two different occasions to sign up the first time was a computer system wasnt working so they weren't able to help us. Second time I show up after two of the three on our family plan have already signed up.. one of us was told that I just needed to bring in my ID and we could get myself signed up no problem. I show up with my ID only to be told that my sister needs to be present in order to sign up. Been coming to this gym for several years. They respected my mask exemption up until today. Today they would not let me enter the gym and did not care about my exemption and forced me to leave the gym and cancel my membership! I personally do not have any respect for a business that does not respect my health and choices. Thats why we go to the gym in the first place. Limiting your most needed requirement for exercise which is oxygen is the most illogical practice in a gym I have ever seen. Do not recommend this business and I will be influencing everyone I know who goes here to leave and go somewhere where their friends can be respected.

Stay away, this gym is the biggest scam. I tried this gym out over 3 years ago, I wasn't happy with the membership and I canceled my membership. I was advised by motion fitness staff that my membership was cancelled and that I had no outstanding balances. 3 years later I received a letter for payment accumulating over the last 3 years. I tried to call motion fitness and asked to speak to a manager to see if there was an error. The staff at the front desk refused to pass me along to a manger and hung up the phone. I had never once had motion fitness reach out to me over the last 3 years to seek any clarification on the matter. I asked for information in regards to my account and they said "all I can see if that you had a membership but I don't have any details" This is terrible customer service. I hope word gets out about this gym and that people stay far away. I will continue to spread word.

I can't speak highly enough of the trainers I worked with while going here, they provided very specific excersises, worked with my schedule and were really wonderful, however I cycled through THREE different trainers in my short time going here (this was pre covid) and it became very apparent this is not a company that treats or pays its staff well enough to stay. The facility itself is fine, not crazy busy and had enough equipment to complete a comprehensive workout. I think the pricing is pretty good for just a regular membership? I'd say this place isn't where you want to drop trainer money unless you don't mind working with a new one every 6-8 months.

Such an amazing gym! We drive in from Sylvan Lake almost daily just to attend this gym. Every staff member we have met so far are helpful, friendly and happy. The gym itself is amazingly clean! We have never seen such a clean, well put together gym. The spa is wonderful, the equipment is very well maintained, it's overall an amazing place! We highly recommend this gym to absolutely everyone.

I love the no contract and the gym is perfect for what I need and want. I was disappointed with my first visit. No tour, just told to "wander" around and find things as I go. The trainers do not interact with people on their own, seems odd to me. You would think that instead of being focused on tanning, chatting with the front staff or checking their cell phones, they would be there to offer corrections or direction for using the machines. Can be really daunting to go and see all these machines with no idea how they work.

Just joined this gym it is a very nice facility compared to the gym I used to go to, Like the no contract , like the by weekly deals and no pressure there are tons of machines. two complaints I do have, is all the cardio equipment is upstairs and it gets pretty hot up there, some air movement and fans would be nice and the rags to clean the machines off are pretty gross, seems like they get replaced once a day.

Gym is nice but the membership contract is ridiculous. I recommend reading it thoroughly. Employees are not understanding with cancellation fees, especially during these times. Ended up paying extra fees as they do not let you cancel over the phone, even if you are no longer living in Red Deer. Suggest everyone to find a gym that you can pay monthly.

If I could give motion fitness a 0 I would. The building itself is nice, But the customer service from main office is horrible attitude, and very rude to deal with, I sent in my cancelation letter a few months back and they never received it, I had sent in a few requests to cancel my membership and received attitude and snarky responses, I will be taking my money else where and not returning to motion fitness again.

I have had issues with them using an out dated NO LONGER AUTHORIZED payment account - randomly about 3 months AFTWR it was switched . Now looking at the “annual “ enhancement fee - that they are going to charge me again - 8 months after the first time . So I’ll be charged for it twice inside of an 8 month period - what will happen in March , will I get charged again? When trying to ask questions about it , the people at the desk have no idea what’s going on - and oh - there is a fee for cancelling too ...and for changing payments , and let’s not forget that you are asked to sign your agreement to everything without the ability to see what you are agreeing to, since it is all done electronically. The signing screen has no part of it listed , and asking to see what’s on the screen gets the run around. The price went up with no notice to me - by about $8/month, that was for a mid level plan - I would hate to see what the increase is for the package including classes . Safe to say I’ll no longer be a member after this morning .

Do not I repeat do not sign up, you will be ripped off. You are told you will be paying one price and forced to pay another. The services they offer are very lack luster with minimal machines and amenities. You should look into better alternatives first. They dont have a pool or anything to sweeten the deal. You dont even get full access to everything you pay way to much for. I highly recommend you look at goodlife or basically any other gym first. Sincerely mad at the waste of money these fools have bewildered out of me.

Ive been going to motion fitness for a few months now. The equipment Is great and staff are very friendly. I purchased 6 Personal Trainer sessions for my mother for Christmas and got 6 for myself as well. It was an incredible price, to find out they make an "accounting error" at the time of purchase. I had spoken to one of the trainers and explained to him what had happened. He told me he felt bad and would complete her training for free if it wasn't sorted out; but apparently he doesn't have the option to do that through the gym. I was suppose to receive a call from management to arrange something but never did. I got a call from the guy who sold me the sessions instead to tell me that he hadn't been properly trained...so I guess I'm SOL. Also the same gym that put my mother in a tanning bed for 15 minutes and thought it was ok. I have already started my session and so now can't get a refund and now they have stopped. My mother hasnt even started hers yet and now she has one left. Not impressed to say the least.

My experience at this gym did not start off well at all but things have definitely improved since then. I think there was some growing pains that have been addressed. Two employees really stand out. Landon, my trainer who is excellent and Louis(hope I spelt it right) who maintains the gym and keeps it spotless. Overall it's a nice place to workout.
