Here you will see the feddbacks of real people like you who purchased the services of LA Fitness (Gym) in the area close to Alberta (Canada).
At the moment the business gets a rating of 3.6 over 5 and that score was based on 127 reviews.
As you can see it has an average rating is high, and it is based on a very large number of scores, so we can think that the score is quite accurate. If there are many people who bothered to value when they are satisfied with the service, it works.
You know that we do not usually bother to place tatings when they are correct and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or incidence...
This Gym is classified in the category of Gym.
When I tried to cancel my membership, i was informed that it has to be done in person. Since i was out of town, i had to wait another week to get this done. I called them again when i reached Edmonton and then i was told that operation manager does not work over the weekend so i have to come on a weekday. When i went on Monday, the manager asked me to pay for additional month because i was one day late from my billing date. When i told her about my situation and that i have been trying to get this done since past 10 days but no agent gave me an option of mailing a letter to head office. She bluntly told me, "have not read the contract before signing" and then refused to cancel my membership. Worst service, staff is not trained and manager insults customer instead of resolving problems. I think more than the staff, manager needs some training!
Very friendly staff, large bright open gym. Very well cleaned i always see staff going around cleaning. I definitely feel safer working out here compared to other gyms in the area.
The gym is great, the people are great and the atmosphere is great. Especially love the guy that helped me out Wyatt he's a real one. Appreciate the service!
Great staff - nice and clean facility. Been going there for 5 6 years now
Don’t t get your membership here. Avoid this place at any cost!
No one at the front counter knew the prices for membership.
Not friendly at all
Great staff, excellent facilities! Miss this place a lot.
The swimming facilities are excellent! Lovely gym equipment as well
The personal training staff are awesome! My boyfriend and I love Drew and Zahid. Also Grace and Wyatt are great! It is very clean, wide open, great selection of equipment, basket ball court, pool is great. Also the classes included are awesome. I loved yoga! Also the woman's only room is great for more private sessions. I always feel non-judged and welcomed. I honestly love this gym!
Very nice place, more family oriented
Love this gym. staff and management are very welcoming and joyful, will help out with all you fitness needs! I recommend this gym 100%
I went swimming yesterday (June 23rd, 2020). It was great, i guess I was lucky and had the swimming pool for myself! It was a Tuesday around 5pm. Water was fresh, almost cold, but it felt great since it was a very warm day. No lockers now since new rules are in place and no hot tub, good overall. Happy to be back (3 months closed due to COVID)

Typical commercial gym. They have a big facility of mostly cardio machines and a pretty lackluster weights area in my opinion. Go here if you have to, but only God can save you if you want to quit. P.S. the manager can only be reached from 9-5 on weekdays and takes lengthy lunches, so good luck.
This is a great gym! Everything you would expect to be in a regular gym is there. But also.. A pool and hot tub! And a basketball court! A well kept, newer gym that is massive! Also featuring a totally separate women's area with good machines. The only real downsides I thought were the cross training/ Trx kettlebell area was roped off for personal training. You could sneak in there but it does feel a little like someone might tell you to leave. This place is popular and gets pretty busy during the evenings, but I think there's more than enough machines (treadmills anyway) that you'll hardly have to wait.
Simply awsome! Great facility and amazing staff
I have been to this gym for the past 3 years and have not had one issue. Staff is usually pleasant, gym is clean, everything is good. Since closure, they have opened back up and i noticed that i had been charged twice since reopening. NOTE: i had not been charged for the 3 months they were closed due to COVID. I called this location and the gentlemen i spoke with put my account on hold for 3 months for free until i decided to come back also gave me the number to call to figure out the charges. After waiting on hold i spoke to a very condescending fellow named Christian from there member service center in California. His overall tone was just rude as he told me i was charged because i was sent an email to me when they reopened. Since i didn't check that email out of the 100 of spam emails i receive from LA Fitness i have been continuously charged although i did not return to the gym for over 5 months. He then stated they would not refund me and tried to keep ending the call. Most gyms respect there members and would not want to lose one over a small sum of money, LA Fitness customer center didn't care to lose one. Most gyms that other people i know go to have not charged until they return to the gym and physically SCAN THEIR CARD. Whether an email was sent or not, clearly it seems that is company needs the money and is willing to just take it although my membership card had not been scanned in over 5 months! I want my refund.
They clearly are not enforcing the mask mandate. Although the staff have been good about the vaxpass. The weight room is always disorganized. The manager who sold me my membership essentially lied to me about free use of the personal training area when it is not busy. I really wouldn't recommend this gym to anyone. They have suuuuch a limited amount of classes too.
Improved hours of operation gets 5 stars.
The membership cancellation is super hard and impossible with La Fitness. To cancel it, I have to send the cancellation form to the US headquarter, or it asks you to meet the local cancellation manager whose working schedule is only on weekdays until 5pm.
Nice gym. Have swimming pool, classes, weight area, cadio, hot tub and more. Busy in peak hour.
One of the better gyms I’ve been to, they have an awesome studio for their training clients. If you need a personal trainer ask for Robyn she’s the best!
Worst cancelation policy I have ever seen! Got the membership last year and try to cancel it recently. You have to physically WALK INTO the store, and there's only ONE staff can cancel for you and that person is NOT in the store often! We went there couple times just trying to cancel our plan! The most stupid thing is here: you have to personally MAIL out a paperwork to USA to cancel your plan. How stupid this is!! I have never seen a company need you to pay extra postage fee and drive to the post office to cancel! it's 2018 I'm sure they are intentionally making this process very complicated to make you not to cancel. WORST COMPANY I HAVE EVER SEEN.
Gross change rooms and showers, Hot tub was always foaming because it was dirty, stupid hours and I can’t say I wasn’t treating very well while I had a membership there. Also cancelling my membership was a headache even though they said that because I didn’t have a contract ‘I could cancel whenever I’d like’. Wouldn’t recommend this gym to anyone, there are way better gyms in town.
This gym is large and very clean. I'm not much of a gym-goer but I don't feel uncomfortable when I work out here once in a while. This place has a basketball court, spin classes, swimming pool and a women's-only section.
Really great gym, great staff and personal trainers that actually care about you! I didn’t even sign up for personal training cause I didn’t have the money but the personal trainer still trained with me almost every time I came in, it was great!
I have a really bad experience on la fitness. I have been their with my friends and one day they planned to stop it. Because of that they have to pay like 1200 dollars like free just for that they don't even consider they are students and struggling to pay for school fees. I think it's very cheap please don't go to la fitness try to avoid.
Been at the gym for over a year , all is good
Good place for sure, always have equipment available. get busy around 5-7 but usually are very empty, friendly staff!
Gym smells, wouldn't recommend going to this gym lotta other gyms out there.
Clean gym, friendly staff!
My favorite gym in the city. Nice private pool and great facilities.
Great customer service
A great friendly atmosphere with up to date equipment. No matter what your fitness goals are this place can get you there.
Absolutely love this location! This is my first gym and I am so comfortable and happy. The staff are super helpful and always there when needed. Miha is such a knowledgeable team member and her expertise is what made me sign up. Such a welcoming environment, I recommend everyone to join here ! #fitfam
Great place to be at in the morning.
Super clean and friendly gym, Jon helped me out with my membership and was super helpful!
Loved this gym since it opened, but recently there has been kids swimming lessons every week night. Super annoying for people who want to wind down in the hot tub after a long day, I don’t want to be surrounded by screaming children.
I thought this gym was awesome with all its amazing exercise gear and it was really clean. Also the people that work there really seem to know what their doing so trust me and sign up for this gym!
Great gym !!
I enjoy this fitness centre very much. Clean. Good staff, great atmosphere. Plenty of equipment and nice pool :)
Friendly staff and great place to workout. Has everything you need.
good price, but packed
My girlfriend wanted to sign up for this gym so I went with her to check it out . So we signed up for the 7 day trial we've gotten the confirmation email went to this location and they wouldn't honor it and they were rude and had no knowledge of what's going on total turn off never again management has no people skills LA Fitness Edmonton South very disappointed
Nice facility. Too many people most days any time after 4pm.
Best thing about this gym is there is no membership commitment. You can cancel any time. Fair prices and friendly staff. Not too crowded as well
Very clean facility, always follows guidelines and procedures to the T. All the employees are very friendly and I enjoy having conversations with them, great customer service skills and very professional. I have recommended this location to many friends and family 11/10
Evan was very helpful
Highly recommend!! Great gym atmosphere! Everyone is always willing to help out and answer any questions I have! Most reviews have been made in the last week following 1 Facebook post. I don’t think that’s fair that the people who are reviewing this establishment haven’t even stepped foot in the gym. These reviews are affecting waaaay more than the 1 person who was targeted. If anyone does want to look at the positives or read the reviews prior to the last week and give this gym a shot, I HIGHLY recommend training with Theo or Khoi ???? ????????
Clean and good environment. The reps were not so pushy at other Locations I have been at
Clean and awesome service
I love this gym so much! Staff are always amazing. Aaron listens to all members. Always clean. I couldn’t express enough how much our family enjoys this gym. I have been coming to this gym for almost two years now. When the kids club is open they have so much fun! Girls love the kids club.
Nope. Hold your management to higher standards. Disgusting behavior.
There is very little difference in locations except this one is all one floor.and no squash court.
Clean gym, lots of working equipment. only open till 8 on weekends.
Great facility, clean machines and change rooms and also very friendly staff. Could use a bit more lighting though, the weights section and a few other spaces are a bit dark. Their locker rooms for robbed a few times so bring a hefty lock. The inclusion of cable weights is probably the best feature of this facility. Its great and convenient, no need to load weights manually on the machines. Overall a great place to work out!
Very clean ,amazing professional staff ,great fitness programs ,love the app
Would be better if they would quit trying to sell extra services. Just want to work out and be left alone.
Great gym but basketball court is always unkept and not waxed regularly. Its extremely slippery and dangerous. I tried to tell a staff member they responded that i should "get better shoes" ????????
I called yesterday to see how to make an appointment to get into the gym and the front desk staff help tremendously. They directed to use the app and how to use it. The professionalism was amazing.
Great place, spacious and good
Clean place, decent daycare, suits my needs.
As someone who is actually had a membership at this gym for about 6 months, my review actually has merit to it. Please disregard the mob coming after LA Fitness because of one alleged issue someone posted on facebook. My pros and cons are as follows: Pros: -There's always staff cleaning -Staff are friendly and inviting -Sauna is a definite perk -Classes are all included with membership Cons: -Advertises as an adult only gym, but 3 nights a week its full of screaming children for Paul Sadler Swimming -Because of Paul Sadler swimming, attending the gym after work is hard because parking is extremely limited -Things don't tend to be fixed quickly, theres a cardio machine that's squeaked for weeks, a locker in the ladies change room thats still broken, etc. Overall the value is great for your membership, but definitely room for improvement.
Nice they allow guests from the USA.
Great place
Personal training is worst it's just waste of money. Staff keep changing throughout the day n weekends any enquiry is difficult you need to come in there working hours 9 to 6 pm ...that means u need to take off. Except the intensive spin class in the morning hours nothing else is worth there.
Not taking social distancing seriously during covid.
not a bad gym. but the la fitness west and north are significantly better, especially with better machines. the weighted area here is also very dark. its like the lights are burnt out or something
I really love this fitness center very clean friendly staff that's why I give five stars ????
Had to see what its all about! Classy place! Prefer my home gym however :p
One and only place to swim peacefully
High ceilings very well lit, clean, nice pool and hot tub, good atmosphere
I come here a few times a week once a month when I am in town. I come here for the spin class. I love spin on the road, it is a great workout an all the instructors who teach here offer a solid workout that is fun. The studio is big, appointed with excellent bikes and the facility is clean. Water is accessible just outside the studio and it puts a smile on my face.
Its new but its so cheap. There is no whirlpool or steam room or sauna. You need that after a hard workout. Also they provide no hair dryer or towels. Geez they really skimped on details. Also there are way too many sales staff. The front section sales area is larger than the gym. Perhaps, { just a thought } they could use all that space for paying customers not redundant sales staff. The place is overrun with non members who are let in for free. The basketball court is overrun in the evenings with non members. Not fair, to paying members. Every second person in this gym is let in on a trial, or comp. You can tell that these kids have no intention of joining, they are just there to play basketball. Last week one of these kids puked in the fountain coming out of the gym. I let the front desk know and they just looked bewildered. They cleaned it up 30 minutes later but did not disinfect the sink with a germ killing product.
They are unethical and robbers, including there sales manager, GM/VP. I paid for master trainer which they failed to provide for more than a month, and then assigned me a newB trainer (not master). When I raised conflicts they said I can cancel and they will refund. They didn't refund, I spend so much time with there corporate etc. Even have email from VP decling, so basically they took several hundred $ from me and provided no services.
Good size gym, tons of equipment
Decent gym with very little belittling going on like happens in other gyms. Reasonably clean, and it has a separate ladies' gym area which is nice. Child care centre, pool and fitness areas but no hot tub or sauna like you see in most LA Fit gyms.
Nice clean gym, Life Fitness equipment, great group classes, friendly staff. Very well kept place, waiting time for machines is almost none. There is hot tub service also available.
Awesome facility, super friendly staff!
Great gym
They gonna loose regular customers in search of new ones ????????????
Nice and clean
Best gym I've ever been a member at. Gone at all time of the day and never have I had to wait for any equipment because they have so much equipment and its huuuge. Hours aren't the greatest but "I don't have time to go to the gym during the day" is a horrible excuse anyways. Knowledgable, friendly staff. Great personal trainers. -pool is great -hot tub is great -if equipment breaks it gets fixed within days which is quite impressive. -change rooms are always very clean (great janitorial staff)
For basketball people: They don't clean the court. Takes them weeks to replace meshes. Will literally let you get physically assaulted on camera and let the other person keep their membership. Cheap on the a/c. Some days it feels like a sauna. Can't attest to the other areas of LA. Lisa is great.
Not recommended!! This place is so dirty… weights are with dust and hairs, I never saw anybody cleaning the machines neither the staff or the customers because there are no sanitizers around. And a lot of machines are broke. I went to GoodLife for about 3 years with no issues and then I move to LA because a friend of mine started there. I’m moving back to GoodLife, wayyyyy better!!!
Solid variety of gym equipment ????????
• Super comfortable atmosphere with a wide range of equipment and fitness levels. • Staff are kind and friendly, the location is great, and the gym and locker room is really tidy. • The crowd that goes to this gym are really awesome too.
Just signed up for a membership with the help from Wyatt. He was super helpful, energetic and kind. He gave me a tour of the facility which is clean and new. Thanks for the help Wyatt!
I must admit, this will be the cleanest this gym has ever been. With COVID guidelines in place the workout experience is a little of both. A lot less crowded which is nice. Masks are annoying. I kept forgetting to take mine off between moving from one machine to the next so... Yeah. But everyone seemed compliant. They provide spray bottles now so you can wipe before and after which makes people exercise a little more cleanliness. It's nice to get back to the gym. I'm still a little nervous about going back but it was not as bad as I thought it would be.
Very nice and co-operative people. Also really nice place
So far, I haven't had any major issues with this gym. I like the room and the equiptment, and I've never had any problems that have had to be brought up with management. The couple of times I have had to mention issues to the front desk, or have had questions to ask, I have found them to be quite helpful. The original male janitor who worked here is no longer working here, and now I find that the mens change room is kept up much better. It could still use a bit more attention, but I have noticed that the insides of lockers are being cleaned more frequently. I do find quite often that paper towel dispensers and the sanitizer pumps are often empty, which leads to having to walk around the gym to find ones that are full. I've used the pool a few times, but I have noticed that quite often the hot tub and sauna are out of service. This hasn't affected me too much, but there have been a few times where I have wanted to use these services and couldn't. The free-weight area is well stocked and spacious, and the machines I find to be typically kept in good working order, and are well marked if they are out of service. The ability to take classes for free has also been great, and Kelly is an amazing Yoga instructor, I try to get in to take her class when available. To be honest, I try to go during the morning or early afternoon as I find that it fills up a bit too much to use and machines or weights in the evenings. The early closing hours probably affects this as it makes it harder for people to get there if they want to go later in the evening. I find this to be a top notch facility and, for the cost of the membership has been well worth it,.
Great gym but doesn't have clean towel service
Nice.
This place is top notch!
No complaints. I like it because it's close to my house
Before joining LA I wasn’t a gym person but the friendly staff and awesome trainers at this location have slowly made me love it! The staff work constantly to make the members happy and the trainers are so pleasant. The facility is extremely well maintained and you can there is always a staff member cleaning to ensure it stays that way. Thank you Drew, Luke and everyone else on the LA team!
very well kept place, waiting time for machines is almost none. You get your buck for the price.
Great gym.
This has been my regular gym since it opened and it has all the equipment I need for my workout without being to busy. The hours here however are terrible as I like to go to the gym later during the day and I was upset to find out that the gym started closing an hour earlier for “Sumer hours.”
Money grab of a gym and managers will only give you good customer service if they think there's a chance you'll sign up (experienced a charismatic sales man, Aaron go from being welcoming and kind to just staring at me blankly when I said why I was disappointed with my gym experience, saying "ok and?" with an attitude and not even saying goodbye back when I got up to leave. They have hidden charges or rules that aren't stayed anywhere on their website or fine print. I really tried to give this gym the benefit of the doubt regardless of the bad reviews, but it wasn't worth it. Save yourself the trouble, listen to the bad reviews and look elsewhere if you want to be respected.
Rude staff
Gym is overated, i paid drop in fee a few times to test it out. Staff are not friendly. equipment is good though. Ive been a member of world health for a while. Even though the equipment there is not spectacular at least the staff were warm and inviting. i moved so looking for a closer gym
Great Gym equipment and great staff. Place is always clean and they take great care of the pool, sauna and hot tub!
I'm not a huge fan of this LA Fitness. They had one power rack and 4 flat bench presses. You can bench in a squat rack, but you can't squat in a bench rack. So that's annoying. They also have 12-sided plates, making deadlifts incredibly awkward since the plates will bounce in weird directions. They had needle bins in their change rooms, and we all know what those are for. Other than that, they have cardio machines for days, and lots of isolation machines.
Great place for ????️♀️
Very welcoming and friendly stuff at the front desk. Seems like they do a much better Job at keeping this location clean compared to the other one in Barrie (lockers a big plus). Members Also put more effort on keep weights organized and wipe the equipment and not leaving their shoes and personal belongings everywhere . I Totally recommend it if you do not really use Basketball or Squash courts. a Bit Smaller but not too crowded so it is worth it.
I have been a member for several months now. I really enjoy the facility and the hours are convenient for those that have irregular schedules.
Incredible trainers and staff. Very "family" energy and treatment all around and one of the best gym experiences you can hope for
Good equipment, good management
Readonly priced, pool, hot tub and basketball court are nice features and the staff is friendly.
Only complaint would be the state of the bathrooms. Mold in the shower curtains that should be cleaned. Have been going for two years and love the staff and the facilities. Hot tub seems to brake a lot lol the classes are wonderful! But not the cleanest showers...hmm
I wish I could give a ZERO. I paid cash for a membership plus sign up fee. This was around $120 which includes first month, last month and the fee. Within 12 days they closed the gym and I couldn’t work out. During the closure I moved to Kelowna and called and cancelled my membership. They told me they cancelled it and still billed me the annual maintenance fee and another month! This means I PAID OVER $170-$180!! To workout for 12 DAYS! they have zero customer service. The gym is dirty also and I would never recommend anyone to give them money or expect any type of reasonable customer services or any respect as a human. The way they’re acting is insane.
I like that everything is so clean all the time.
The best gym in Alberta
Beautiful facilities, frendly staff and members
The facility is very clean and has modern equipment. The staff was very friendly and took the time to show me around the facility and demonstrated how the use the equipment.
Very clean. Great gym!
It is pretty great. Pool, hot tub, sauna, woman's only room, childcare. Only giving 4 stars though as the classes could be better more diversity and more during the day. (During childcare hours) the kid area is good and the workers are pretty great but I wish there was a time on the weekend with childcare available.
Rowing machine has been broken for 4 months, leg extension machine missing pin, fly machine missing adjustment handle, service is 1/10, employees all fat, it's a 40 day cancellation not 10 like we were told
Poor sanitation and standards, Clear lack of maintenance
Awesome
Great Gym. Busy in the evening
Gym is really nice but too crowded doesn't matter which time you go.
I signed up last year in August, and I have not regretted it once. Wyatt, the general manager, runs a very tight ship with extremely kind and outgoing staff members. If I ever have an issue or a question, any employee is more than happy to help me out or give me tips. The gym is always clean and tidy, presenting itself as a professional and caring business. This is my first gym experience, and not one time have I felt like I was being judged by other gym-goers. I absolutely recommend joining this gym!!
Convenient and friendly staff. Very neat and affordable too.
Clean gym. Decent atmosphere. Lots of equipment and benches.
I'm so glad I read the reviews before I signed up for anything, some of the worst customer service I've dealt with.
customer service is awful
Good workout area, swimming pool and some other amenities make this a great gym
amazing customer service best management Very clean :D
Great staff awesome lay out has kids club who are good with kids 1 stars because it should be 24 hours. Everytime i turn around the place is closed. Or kids club hours are changed because of holidays no one cares about. Hours are the only reason for low stars everything else is good
Unfriendly, Unprofessional and rude staff.......worst gym of Edmonton
I had a bad experience with the personal training program. Be careful they will try cheat you guys.
Great gym location within North Barrie community. I always enjoy coming here compared to the one at Mapleview. The workers and trainers are professional and friendly. The place is clean and neat even during the peak hours. I wish they would add one more squat rack. Other than that, still a very nice gym to go to.
Typically friendly staff and people. A little pricey but the professionalism pays the price.
Great variety of equipment, however never go in with a plan because the equipment you need will likely be taken as this place gets busy af especially after 3pm
Good and affordable place ....
Great spot!! Nice new equipment and friendly staff. love the fact that they have a basketball court and a lap pool. plus a no contract membership which is month to month.
This gym is gorgeous. Great staff, and my kids loved the daycare service. I've had a few week long VIP passes and I'm super impressed with their facilities. As I recall daycare ran from 9am-12pm Monday to Saturday and 5-8pm Monday to Thursday, which unfortunately doesn't fit comfortably in my lifestyle (I work two shifts, days and afternoons) as getting up and fitting in an entire workout before noon can be quite difficult. If they ever offer longer daycare hours I would seriously consider switching gym memberships. Their staff is incredible. So helpful, Jordan, Felipe and Noelle were all very helpful and made the entire week super comfortable. I felt like I was already a member. The short amount of time I spent barely scratched the surface of what they have to offer at this gym. 10/10 would recommend.
Good gym, they try to keep it clean. Machines are quickly fixed.
This gym made me love going to a gym again! Staff are great and informative without being pushy, and there is a huge variety of equipment available. I love how this gym has a pool and I enjoy the women’s only area. Change rooms and equipment are usually quite clean and in good repair and there is plenty of parking. I had an issue with billing (I forgot to update a card) and the front desk staff patiently informed me of my error and let me finish my workout before requiring me to rectify the error. The sales team is incredibly friendly and the classes are so much fun. I love my gym!
Amazing staff always clean
Great place. Been to almost every gym in Barrie and it is second best after the The one on the south end.
Ultra corporate
If you like cardio, this might be a 5 star review cause you could show up at rush hour in January and still find open bikes and treadmills. If you're into lifting this is probably a 3 star review. There's just not enough equipment. 1 cage, 2 squat racks, and a bunch of benchs with no way to put guards on so bring a spotter if you're going for a 1 rep PR. I almost always have to wait to get what I need. I guess also 2 smiths but that's not the tool I would use for my workouts.
Awesome trainers and huge selection of machines with a big area for weight training as well
It's a pain and a crapshoot to get a booking...but it's so empty and quiet inside once you do get a space. #redzone
The promises made in the contract for personal training have not been honored. Wonderful facitlity but very poor management. I placed a complaint on the phone and then two days later in person at the gym and no one has gotten back to me yet -- that was two weeks ago and the front desk promised me that the manager would get back to me promptly. When my personal trainer (she was effective) left the gym the same week the person who signed me up for personal training left I did not receive any notice or support to move my personal training sessions to someone else. When I did book a training session it was with a woman who had a weekend on line course and some experience pushing membership sales at another gym. She knew nothing about my program and was only somewhat engaged in assisting me through a workout set up by the previous trainer. No attention or adaptations were made to accomodate the injury limitations I have that brought me to the gym for personal training! I have withdrawn my recomendation to my workplace to consider this gym as part of workplace fitness/health programs for young professionals. I hope someone will get back to me to address concerns.
It's a beautiful gym, and staff is friendly too. However, gym-goers are the most important aspect IMO. If you know what you are doing, or you want to go to a gym where professionals and grown up people go to, try Goodlife on Calgary trail. Similar membership fees. A lot of people in this gym lack the most basic gym etiquette, will hog machines, won't let you work in with them when all the machines are used. You can see members hogging squat stands to do shoulder press. Ridiculous. Again, great gym, but not so great of a crowd. Still 100x better than World health though.
Great gym. Friendly staff.
Wyatt is great, very clean and professional facility.
It was good And didn't really feel any difference with the covid and all so all good :)
The gym is great in the morning, very quiet.
Nice staff always clean in the gym
Large place: pool, hot tub, lots of pretty people. The downfall is that it is so very very busy. And when I mean busy I don't mean a little I mean a lot. Good luck finding a piece of equipment and if you are lucky enough, camp it.
It's clean, newest machines, no lines, best staff
Decent place to workout with average weights and equipments. The locker room needs work to address the smells and broken lockers. Also there's no towel service or adequate cleaning options for wiping and cleaning equipment.
Good for gymnastics
Alright gym. The lockers stink most of the time if you’re not in and out by 9 am ish. Not a very long wait period except for peak times for equipment. There are better clubs in the south...Full Force Fitness being one
Worst service and experience ever. Said all good things to get into the club and never kept any words. Pro results department does not have good staff and they dont even have time for you. Moreover, you get new trainee everytime. Just waste was time and money.
Always friendly staff, clean, lots of equipment.
Clean and Nice equipment. Bright with Sun Lights.
Great gym, honestly. Very clean, friendly staff and great equipment. The basketball court and pool are fun too.
I signed up before the gym opened and I was given a early bird discounted price on the initiation fee and monthly fee. However, a few months later they were offering an even lower price then when I signed up. Just a waist of money
It's just ok. Often I find the paper towel dispensers will be empty and the toilets will have no toilet paper.
I've been coming here for around 2 years now and this gym really goes through good and bad phases. There will be some weeks where everything is good then a couple of months where you just wonder why. 1. Mold in showers. Disgusting! Missing shower curtains. I stopped going to the showers because of how bad they were. 2. Running out of hand sanitizer? How does a gym run out of disinfecting solution? They didn't have any sanitizer for nearly 3 months. They do seem to have them now. 3. Floor near the weights is uneven, it's a safety hazard. I guess it's because of weights being dropped but it should be under their maintenance plan. 4. They've been playing the same music on repeat for the past 6 months now, same order. Their custodial staff even quit because of the vile music they played. ON REPEAT. When asked to turn it down, they couldn't because of advertisers. I don't enjoy wearing headphones while working out so it's a daily torture listening to Nicki Minaj run up, that dumb sweater song, cold and roller coaster every morning. Get a trial and talk to current members before becoming a member. Staff is good (but unhelpful cause they can't do anything) and the gym is big.
It's a busy place but I love the pool and spa after workout. They could add aome punching bags in it though.
TIm was AWESOME, Clean, Friendly staff all around Highly recommend this location
Huge gym.
Disgusting gym. No wipes to clean the equipment. 100s of people touch these equipment each day yet there are no wipes to clean them. Unbelievable.
Well maintained gym, they are trying hard to keep it clean, with two or more people on the floor constantly cleaning. Yeah, pool was closed recently, but not only at LA, couple other places were shut down as well I guess it is city of yeg direction. Staff is polite as long as you are talking to them politely. Personal trainers are different from very weak to the experienced and well educated. If you don't like one, try another one. I went though 4 till found the one who cares about your progress. P.s. I wish they would install hairdryers. It is kind of needed after swimming.
Clean facility with friendly staff. Wide variety of machines and free weights with a basketball court, swimming pool, and a sauna.
Great equipment, fantastic instructors, and very spacious. The locker rooms are nice, but are not maintained well enough as they are constantly out of soap and paper towels, and often have random items like empty bottles that lay around for a couple days. The customer service is also not always the best either. Its a hit and miss depending on who is working, but its more of a miss than it is a hit.
This location NEEDS saunas. Commmon! It's the closest one near all the north residents. That would be GOLDEN. One of the sinks were not working for over a month but they ended up fixing it. I won't give less stars for that. But Anyway.. Awesome location. I bring my little one into the daycare area "kids zone" while I work out without having to worry. ($20 month to register for kidszone unless you get the $15 deal they had) The two ladies that they have watching over the kids are awesome, polite, easy going and know what they're doing when it comes to kids, especially the lil ones. Mine is getting use to not having me around and will cry but the staff are excellent (especially Melissa) and handle it well. If you're worried about only one sitter staff watching over a bunch of kids don't worry because they bring in backup if it gets busy. I recommend this gym location, especially if you have lil one's. Just stay consistent and bring your lil one in every day around the same time so they get use to it because they will! Oh and machines are clean, organized place and the rest of the staff are cool. ???? Sorry for the novel ☺
Nice place ,great gym. Trainers are meh
Great place to work out, great service, always clean
Nice layout and stoked about the basketball court. Some of the staff come across as rude but overall its a great place to get a good workout in.
Great gym. It's just a little gross that no one wipes the sweat on equipment after they're done. Other than that, has everything you could need in a gym. Is also visually appealing.
another gym should open late on weekends. careful while signing up
The place is well maintained. it's open, and theres lots of breathing space. Unlike what other people say, there is actually 1/15'th of the gym. it comes with child minding, and a pool. I dont mind that there isnt a whirlpool, mainly because there is a pool and other gyms usually dont have that much water flowing. It's a nice place.
Nice gym... would love to join one day
Just finished a great workout. First time here. Great place! SO MANY machines! Anything a serious fitness person would want. They also have sauna, hot tub, pool AND babysitting while you workout... This Mom is happy!
Great facility but very crowded in evening
Great atmosphere.
4 stars for one of the lowest membership fees, equipment and facilities, the only negative thing would be their filthy carpets.
As many of reviews already states, worst customer service management ever. Operating manager should be replaced, very rude, not polite, it seems like she just doesnt want to be there. All she says is "its upto upper management to decide" constantly. Unwilling to help or solve to problem that customers are having. Facility is so busy that there is no equipment to go on, don't have enough sanitary equipment to wipe the machine before or after use. Going back to snap fitness, just because i had to deal with her twice, and it was the worst experience ever, not worth my time.
Such rude staff! Wanted to do my free trial but somehow I never received their barcode invitation paper in my email from their website. When I phoned them about it, they said I could simply come in and talk to one of the staff to get it printed to start using the facility. I made my time and drive all the way there only to hear that my online trial request had been activated and already expired but they could not issue a new one for me because I was already considered that I used my free trial. I did not even get a chance to use the facility but they kept on forcing me to sign up with them anyways. When I said I did not want to sign up before actually trying out, the male sales rep said that there would be no need for me even to use my trial to tell if their facility would fit for me or not because he could guarantee I would love their gym already because they are just so great. It’s good that he is proud of his workplace but his arrogant and rude tone just made me want to puke. He GENEROUSLY allowed me to work out there only that day and I actually found that it was hard to shower there with their shower heads sprinkling such little water and their wipes were not really meant to wipe the machine or floor mat clean. So it turned out that it was not so great that he could guarantee with such arrogant attitude whether I would love it or not!!!
Love the hot tub and sauna. Not to mention the basketball court. Nice machine and wonderful staff.
Great Gym, amazing staff, awesome equipment. I would definitely recommend checking them out!!
Nice gym, lots of equipment and no waiting for equipment. Hot tub and sauna are rarely working which drives me crazy
If you know what you're doing, this GYM has everything you need including a pool and basketball court. However, do expect very sub par service from their higher ups. I also wouldn't get training from here. But, you also get what you pay for!
La Fitness's has worst customer service ever ever ever. Especially the Operating Manager was not willing to help and very unpolite. They may seem to be nice when you enroll to take your money but If you want to cancel La fitness account for your own reason, they are not show any respect for you. I'm really serious. And also, yes this facility is best in Edmonton but a loooooooooooooooot of people in there everyday.
They have a lap pool for swimming.
Great place, neat and clean. Friendly staff.
I was surprised to see how many people track through wth boots on even though the boot rack is clearly situated at the front door. The rest of us are now walking through the mud and water in our socks.
Honestly probably one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had at a gym which seems to be pretty consistent with what other people are reviewing as well. I came to the Calgary trail LA Fitness gym with a guest membership and as I walked in, the front desk person who seemed to be the manager (big build Caucasian male with his hair slicked back) said to me that he's not taking other gyms unwanted traffic today and pretty much told me no. This entire conversation happened while he continued to be writing on a piece of paper with no regards to providing even adequate customer service to me. The encounter was very rude and if that 10 second customer experience was any indication of what the rest of the experience would have been, I definitely would NOT recommend anyone to bring their business to this facility. You are better off spending your money at other facilities who employ compassionate customer oriented employees.
Awesome team
Absolutely the worst customer service experience I’ve ever had. I obtained a month to month membership of $35/month back around the end of 2016. I used it a few times but then work took me out of country for a little over a year. I called back to LA Fitness to cancel my membership and was told it had to be done in person and that I couldn’t do it over the phone. How the **** a policy like this exists in 2018 is beyond me. It’s so archaic. Stone Age of a company. I get they want to verify it’s actually you canceling the membership but really who out there is calling gyms canceling random people’s memberships??? I know there’s tools out in the world but I don’t think they’ve started doing that yet. So fast forward to 2018. I finally returned to Edmonton to visit some family and was able to go in and cancel my membership. Over $400 wasted to these guys that I’m sure I’ll never get back just over a stupid outdated security policy. Don’t claim to not lock people into a contract if there’s stipulations on how you cancel. Will never come back here or recommend this place to anyone else. Would give 0 stars if I could
Nice new LA fitness in Barrie located in the north end. You just need to put in a Sauna and Hot Tub because they are so important for the total health of anyone (who cares about the operating costs).
South is ok.. never a problem like the north..but westend is best overall more comfortable. I do hate the hours on weekends My usual workout is 6 am when no one is there.. 8 am on sat, sun, and holidays is half into my morning. prefer hours would be 5 am to midnite 7 days a week. Love the pool usually empty. I find them all clean and bright and I enjoy working out at these facilities. 4 stars due to the hours.. nothing else. I
Great equipment if you're into free weights. I also have lots of Hammer Strength and a lot of cables so no wait times on those
Great facility, such an upgrade coming from university gym. You'll always find equipment free
The manager has no respect to costumer. Worst experience ever with that long hair guy. He doesn't deserve to be a manager.
Bright, clean, and spacious. No hidden fees. Staff are friendly and helpful here. It is a very nice environment to work out in with lots of new equipment. I'm glad I switched to LA from my previous gym, I couldn't imagine working out anywhere else now.
Equipment - 5/10 Could use another squat rack for it's size. No lifting belts or dip belts. They lack variety of bands rollers etc. Equipment is modern & new tho. Layout - 9/10 Good flow can't complain. Even when it's busy it doesent seem too crowded. Annoying that they don't have a water bottle filling machine you still have to fill it up for the mouth spout. Cleanliness - 5/10 I'm only giving this such a bad rating because for some reason they refuse to put out spray bottles to wipe down equipment. Yes, they do have paper towels & sanitizer but that's pretty lame. Over all the gym is very spotless. Staff - 8/10 Haven't really dealt with any problems. But I don't really have a reason to talk to them as I just go to lift heavy ass weights and nothing more. Auxiliary Options - 8/10 They do have a swimming pool and a hot tub. Although hot tub is usually broken. Steam rooms and good and change rooms are modern and clean. Basketball court is also a plus along with the yoga studio. Also the daycare for kids is a big plus if you have a small one. Overall decent gym. It's nice that it's only month to month membership. Good location right off the whytemud.
Great gym, I have never been to LA and I went in today to start as I have let myself go. I will be attending 3 times a week as I feel like the gym is clean and COVID ready.
clean Fitness area. Only problem is the hours of operation which does not worth the price we pay comparing other gym. Staff is friendly.
Modern and convenient. Friendly staff
There's a huge variety of equipment here and the staff have always been kind and helpful and Jonathan the assistant manager was always able to answer my questions! Each experience I've had at this location has been positive, would recommend :)
I recently signed up at this gym and I really enjoy it, however are the hours are extremely poor. The regular person works an 8 to 4 or 10 to 6 job so for the gym to be closing at 10 o'clock on some nights, and 8 p.m. on other nights it makes no sense. I don't feel that I should be going home and rushing what I am doing so that I can make it to the gym before a closes. Also because of how poorly the sanitation system is setup at this gym a lot of people are not cleaning the equipment properly or at all, instead of using paper towel there should be wet wipes. I do believe that LA fitness is the best gym in the city but they also need to live up to that now. On a positive note it is a very clean place and the people are friendly.
I went into the gym today to start working out again and the assistant manager Jon Batista was very helpful. I've never been to the north end and he showed me around the facility, it turns out the north end is a much better place to engage in my daily routine
My experience at LAFitness all started with Wyatt Dennis the best general manager you could ever have the pleasure of meeting, the sign up was super quick and not pushy, after setting up my membership I was introduced to the personal training director Mike Burns who thoroughly assessed my goals and outlined a detailed workout routine to help me succeed. Absolutely loved my experience, I’ve gotta say it was fire ????????
Beautiful
Everyday
Great gym
I like the place, nice and clean WiFi is pretty fast too but pretty crowded around 4-6.
I love that they have a pool there !
Went in for a free trial for me and my fiancé, i got one a couple days earlier with no issue, I then came in with my fiancé and was told they don't let just "anyone come in off the street" for a free pass. She's a a recently retired national athlete, and was looking to transition from a high performance centre to another gym that would meet her fitness needs. The loan shark manager was more interested in getting our money... And evidently decided for himself that we were uninterested, I guess wearing lu lu lemons and national champion was too much of a threat to him. We're going to Goodlife instead.
Nice, clean and well laid out. Knowledgeable staff. Not too busy
Good place horrible staff member that is racist
Not too many muscle heads which is what I like.
Good
Clean facility. Wish there was a sauna here.
Best facility in Edmonton. Membership is very affordable, no contracts and awesome staff. They also offer so many group classes and also have swim school.
Advertised "hot tub" is kept horribly cold to save on operating costs. If I have the option I always choose the West end club over this location, purely due to the hot tub. That gym is busier and more difficult to work out in, but I'd rather go somewhere with a hot tub that's unlikely to incubate disease. Like honestly it's generally between 85F and 89F when I arrive and the hottest I've ever seen it is 92F. Wouldn't even shock me if they leave it in Fahrenheit so that younger patrons don't understand it as well.
I signed up right before COVID and paid for 2 months upfront to try/test their gym. They requested that I cancel before the 2months was up if I was not satisfied, otherwise they will charge a yearly fee + continue charging monthly fees. I tried calling a couple times to cancel since I have not gotten to try the gym at all, but got no answer because they were closed. As soon as they opened back up, they charged me everything right away without even contacting me. When I requested a refund, they refused. No sympathy at all.
Too many of my friends have been fooled by the gym !What a terrible service you guys provide! I went to your store to cancel my membership in April in 2018! You can check your store camera! I went there with my friend! When we cancel the membership your employee she told me although we canceled is we still can come to gym until May! However, until now, your club still charged my money each month! Pls solve this problem in correct way! Refund the money to me!
Worst staff at a gym
The facilities are big and equipment is usually available, peak times are not ideal, as there are groups that share the equipment, I go when it's low peak. Staff is hit & miss, some are great and others terrible. Three stars for maintaining a clean space.
Pretty good place to workout. My only problem with it is the layout of the equipment. The machines are separated from the free weight area and I find it inefficient to walk around to see what is free only to find that what you want isn't. However, it seems to be cleaner, overall, and the wifi here is significantly better when compare to the south-end LA.
Great gym, awesome staff. Gym is well maintained and always clean.
Best gym in Barrie by far. Clean and always up to speed.
Visiting from out of country and visit a lot of gyms due to my work and this place went above and beyond to make my stay in Edmonton great the staff is top notch and friendly and highly recommended so if your in the area or live near by please stop in the facility and equipment is top of the line
Very clean. Staff is always smiling. And lots of equipment Very impressed with how clean they keep this gym. I find it much cleaner than most!
Horrible experience from LA fitness. Don’t enroll yourself in. It is ripoff.
Stayed memeber for 2 month only made it for 10 days. 2 star for keeping it open late and a little bit of atomospher of fit people to keep you motivated. Sadly way too busy and croweded considering covid-19. And hated cheap paper for equipment clean up with bottle of spray. Why can they not buy wipes? Edmonton Rec Center got better standards of keeping physcal distance and sanitation.
Very Poor customer service by operation manager. I am a very unhappy customer I’ve been with la fitness for 2 years and have been paying them. Today I called in if we can do a very minor change to the couples deal I signed up for with my sister, who is now pregnant and can’t come with me, they said no. You can cancel your account if you want. If there is no room for understanding there valuable member, then LA Fitness will lose more and more customer everyday. I will make sure to let the rest of my family, friends and the 25 thousand viewers that I have, know how unfair and cheap you treat your members.
Nice, clean facility
I do not recommend this pool at all , specially for my kid that I will stop to go there and tanks god the lifeguard not the la fitness she check the water before we let our kids to go inside for the swimming classes and it was not clean, and they cancel the swimming classes , even by look I could say the water was dark , and that’s very dangerous... that’s sad that la fitness didn’t service that water before our kids go there and they creat the unsafe facilities for everyone ...
Probably my favourite LA location staff is friendly and helpful. The gym is also clean and seemed to be sanitary.
Hot tub, pool, sauna, pretty much every piece of equipment you can think of & more. Plus they even do 2 week free trials to check the place out
Super clean and friendly staff.
Great facility! It's huge and totally worth the money! The staff are very welcoming and polite. Personal training is my favourite, they really seem to know what they are doing and they helped me lose 20 pounds in 3 months! Couldn't ask for a better gym! Even the members are awesome! Not like the snoody world health members. Keep up the great work la fitness!
Great Gym, not 24hrs but still good for the price
Great gym, lots of space, great parking, love the pool, change areas are clean and spacious.
Great facility, including a pool!
Very bad customer service and they are really cheating on personal training program please be careful while they say about that I lost about 800 dollars for that it's like real cheating be aware of that.
Not a bad gim. Needs more free waight equipment, especially lifting cages and reversed hyperextension machine.
Literally the worst customer service I've ever dealt with in my life. Thank you for stealing almost $200 from my account, when you had already taken that amount out for the sign ups fees months before. I even brought in statements to show you so you could send them to your head office, but apparently nothing was rectified. Almost a month later, and i STILL have not been reimbursed. Thank you, again, for not giving a single eff about how frustrating this is for me, and for not caring about losing a customer.
Go to this gym!!! Such a great place! This is by far the best gym I have been to, I have experienced gyms from BC to overseas and this gym has a lot to offer. The huge windows are so great and big open space helps keep it a good temperature. I recommend looking online at the busiest times and trying to stager the times you go. If not possible there are honestly plenty of machines and room to workout. You have to be aware of a few things, don't sign up for the yearly personal trainer package because if you are new to they gym this WILL be to much for you to begin with. I recommend taking around 4 sections to get some basic ideas probably once a week, take those and you should have a great start. Staff is lovely very friendly and welcoming. The negative reviews are understandable if you know nothing about any American Businneses but know they are relatively new to Canada and haven't been here long.
Some staff are pretty rude.
Avoid this gym at any cost. They are all scammers, they will spend an hour to push you get their unqualified personal trainer. Then they will take your money whenever they like without your authorization. Shame on you all!!!
Worst place…
I had a great experience at this gym . I had a lot of questions on my first day and the staff was really friendly, especially one of the employees named Jonathan who helped answer all of my questions. They are also taking the COVID-19 situation seriously and sanitizing equipment. I definitely recommend !
Great place to work out. Swimming pool, cycling studio, class studio, yoga area and loads of machines. Clean and bright. They even have childcare!
They greet you when you come in which is nice. I don't like that you cant just scan yourself in though. The place is huge and I got lost trying to find the change room lol but it's ok. I like that there's a girls only area, I wish there was one at the Stony Plain Rd. I definitely feel as if there isn't enough room for people in the dumbbell area and it feels like everyone is watching you which is creepy AF. Lol. Again, not enough trash cans and not enough wipes, no tissues which is annoying. The pool is a bit smaller than the one I'm used to which sucks but I probably wouldnt swim at this location anyways. I like the stretching area too, it's off to the side and they don't have them all clumped together like at the other location.
Probably your best option for a Gym on the south side. Good variety or equipment, decently sized weight area and lots of cardio machines. Overall cleanliness and maintenance is good, though locker rooms seem to end up with a lot of pre-workout or protein spilled on benches or counters (that's not the staffs fault though). Biggest perks are no contract and access to all USA and Canadian locations without paying an extra fee. I'd say my biggest complaints would be how busy it gets in the evening and the annoyingly loud spin class, but neither a deal breaker to me and easily fixed by going in the morning
Could do better
Very happy to be at this gym. I joined with my hubby over 6 months ago and basically didn't go after he got injured and attendance fell 100% on me. They called and checked in every few weeks and kept the communication up to get me in the door for over half a year!!! Drew is the best. His kindness and enthusiasm eventually got me in the door. He introduced me to Sabrina who is a superb trainer. I'm now in a regular schedule, training and learning. If you are a beginner and finding it hard to start, sign up for the training and have fun. The atmosphere is friendly, the gym is very clean and the area is awesome for parking, groceries and such. Thanks for all the pestering Drew. I truly do appreciate that you kept it up and finally got me back in the door!
Bright and clean, new equipment.
Great all around gym, clean and well maintained. Can get quite busy during peak hours.
Not a safe place for kids or anyone to use the swimming pool classes ,
Good training facility with average weights and equipment.
Pros: lady's workout room. Sauna. Salt water pool. High ceiling Cons: dirty floors. Dirty shower. Dirty washroom. Dirty sauna. Dirty equipments. Unprofessional staffs
Good machine. I like this place.
So I got a membership with them, but only if they can stop calling me so many times to sign up with them... like it’s so pushy, and I already got a membership maybe they can stop bothering me to sign up it would be great. Blocked the number
Gym folk here are friendly but the staff even more so. Been my go-to gym for 2 years ???? and not once felt unwelcome. We're all human and have a bad day once in awhile, but don't judge a book by its cover. Come in the early morning or 6-8 pm if you're antisocial like me ????. Great basketball court , swimming pool and hot tub.
This place is a COVID outbreak waiting to happen. As soon as people are past the desk they take their mask off and don't put it back on till they are putting their shoes on to leave. The only measure they have is giving everyone a spray bottle and "limiting" the number of people allowed into the facility. At peak times it is literally the busiest I've ever seen a gym, even before COVID.
Gym is very clean. Staff is friendly. Overall great gym for the cost. Can be busy at 5-6pm but outside that it's never a struggle to get equipment. I've recommended to coworkers already and extend it to anyone looking for a nice place to work out.
So glad to be back!
You have to do something about these booking times. I'm paying $25 a month and can't even get in for a workout.
Great place overall, but the showers suck and it could use some more squat racks.
Everything is nice except timings suit mostly white color schedule needs more flexibility especially on weekends ????
It's an amazing work out place
Good service. Better to avoid high peak times for proper workout
Place is clean and machines are always maintained
the worst customer service of all La fitness locations in edmonton , i like coming here just for th machines etc , but i have no idea why reception ladies /men all so rude and unwelcoming ,there behaviors are ridicolus for some one who sits in front desk , Lol might as well bark like a dog !
My wife was going in before myself and I was hesitant about coming. As you can see so many ppl complaining. But shock and be hold how friendly everyone has been to me! The managers are very friendly and I've yet to come across a staff member that doesn't smile at me. Plus the pool is the best temperature for lap swimmers!!!!
I've been to all gyms in Edmonton. I must say all personal trainers are equally bad especially LA Fitness. Before I signed up for personal training, I asked is it going to be different than the other gyms. They said yes. Little did I know it will be worse!!! I've gone through 4 personal trainers because either they would quit or they would not show up for the sessions (how unprofessional). I stopped going and letting my boyfriend use mine up in addition to his. I also want to add that they've double booked a lot of my sessions so I end up not doing them. I also agree with the other reviewers, the trainers are complete jokes. I've been doing research at home and they're much better than what they make you do. SO I'M WARNING YOU NOW, PLEASE DON'T EVER SIGN UP! IT'S JUST A MONEY GRAB FOR THEM.
Great staff!
Great staff, clean facility. Would highly recommend.
I made the mistake of going in here to workout today. At 8pm this gym was more packed than I ever remember it being pre-covid. I would NOT recommend this gym to anyone. It is completely irresponsible of the management team to allow so many people in there without promoting any level of social distancing.
Hours not convenient for shift work. No hot tub or sauna. Staff is friendly. Otherwise great.
Didn’t seem welcoming or nice. Caused me an inconvenience and didn’t seem apologetic. Just read the reviews this place does not seem good at all. Good thing i didn’t pay for the year yet. Anytime, goodlife, fit4less and the city gyms are much better
Excellent facility clean and safe! Had a great experience and interaction with Jonathan overall amazing staff! :)
It was going great until me and my sister hired a personal trainer. We had a terrible experience. They have changed the personal trainer 4 times in 3 months. I feel like I have spent more than1000 dollars for nothing. I don't recommend personal trainer at all in this location. There is lots of room to improvement ✌
Value for money!
A very aptly named gym. Lots of crop tops, super tight yoga pants, racerback tanks, and terrible haircuts. They have signs in the bathrooms warning about the risks of steroid use (and even make you sign a form when you sign up stating you won't use steroids in the building). Go here once and you'll see why. The crowd that goes here isn't really my favorite, but the gym itself is pretty good. Tons and tons of machines, to the point that I feel they could swap some out with more free weight benches and racks. Only 2 squat racks and one power cage for the entire gym, which is pretty crazy to me given how big this gym is and how many people go here. There is often a wait time for equipment during peak hours. Rates are pretty affordable, and with most membership levels you can bring a guest with you for free. No contracts to worry about, but you do have to pay for your first and last month up front, so plan on staying at this gym for at least 2 months.
- The staff is always very energetic, helpful and willing to go the extra mile to make sure that you have a good workout! - Place is always very clean and if you ever have an issue the staff is on top of it in no time!
Enough equipment, nice environment
Gym is nice and comfortable especially for the rate i'm paying BUT the place never feels clean enough. I've noticed the weight rack always has a funky smell, the washrooms are always messy and there is never any tissue around.....
Got a tour of the facility yesterday. Highly recommend stopping for a tour. The sales staff was very kind and didnt pressure me into joining. Carson and Wyatt were GREAT.
My most recent incident with LA fitness occurred at 2:30 pm on a weekday (not a very busy time), I had a 4 day pass that I gave my girlfriend to try and when we went in we were told by front desk it needs to be verified, which was completely okay. We sat on the benches waiting for about 15 minutes when we looked over at the desks where the staff whom was supposed to verify my voucher were simply chatting away from their desks, where the message was sent from the front desk to verify my voucher was sent. At that point I proceeded to approach the staff myself to ask for the verification of the voucher. This is when it got interesting. I approached the general manager (wearing RED blazer) and two other female staff and asked if there was anyone who could help us as we have been waiting an unreasonable amount of time. His response was "you do not have an appointment, the voucher was free if you want to workout then pay the $15 drop in fee but if you want to use your pass you need to wait till we are done our conversation". This angered me and I responded that his response made me not want to workout at the LA on Calgary trail at all. And he responded immaturely saying "I dont care dont work out here at all!" This is unfortunate becuase I have been a member of LA fitness for three years and this was my first time at this location. The only reason I was going to this location was to motivate my girlfriend to join and now he lost a member of three years and a future member of the gym due to his unprofessionalism and lack if customer service. and if there is less than a star I would pick that becuaee there is nothing stellar about LA Fitness Calgary trail becuase of the toxic energy the staff promote with the leader being the general manager.
People are not required/encouraged to wipe down machines after each use. Inconsistent policies from one visit to the next.
Was a nice place but went down hill fast. Management doesn’t keep cleaning people around for long so everything stinks and dirty. The sauna isn’t cleaned often and you can tell by the amount of stains everywhere. And don’t think you’ll get a shower here, and if you do I’d suggest going to your doctor to get checked for foot infections. And if you are looking for a trainer there are a couple good ones but most of them I’ve seen just sit in their phones while with a client and what I find worse is they drink tims coffee while training people. I find it extremely unprofessional. Reason I gave 2 stars was because the day care staff here are amazing and would recommend if you have kids. Other wise I would have gave 1.
Pretty decent gym. However the main receptionist is a constant nag. Demotivating as soon as you walk in.
Becoming concerned with seeing Covid 19 "fatigue" setting in as some staff begin to be lax when using their masks in public spaces. It is impossible to "social distance" when entering and leaving the establishment when there are more than two people serviced at a time. I so want this club to remain open so I hope these issues are addressed.
This place is so gross, when I worked there they didnt always have the cleaners and used the mop they used on the floors on the Matt's. The manager is is not a nice person
It’s okay. I’ve been here a handful of times now, and noticed it’s not as clean as other gyms. PLEASE invest in proper sanitary wipes for the equipment. Not just paper towel and a spray bottle. It’s gross how many people don’t bother to wipe their equipment, and its probably because it’s way too inconvenient to walk across the gym to get it in the first place. Pool is decent, but it not the cleanest. Always overcrowded in the free weights area.
Great Gym ,wide open spaces ,machines are great ,but treadmills are in MPH not KPH :( ,staff are nice too. Clean facilities.
Went to try the free week, filled out the application and got my emailed pass, but when I got in there, they told me they haven't done that in over a year... yet it's still advertised everywhere...
Best swimming classes you can see the child’s progress as soon as they start
Good place for fitness
Fairly clean but lots of staff changes and not friendly sales
Absolutely rude customer service.
I have been their with my friends. I really know that they were cheating on personal training program and their customer service was too poor. My friends lost like 1200 dollars on that so every one should be aware about this.
Place is well maintained, staff are very nice and helpful on any questions you provide. Awesome gym !!
Pretty sleazy in their business dealings. Paid enormous fees to sign up, guy wouldn't tell me exactly what I was paying for. Turns out I've been paying for services I've never used. Impossible to cancel, only one person who works very specific hours. Equipment is mediocre, hot tub never actually hot.
Guy at the front desk told me that this is a *white gym* and not for peasants, told me to go back home and didn’t let me buy a memebership. Extreamly ride and racist. I’m gonna go to terwilliger rec to workout from now on (better equipment and better staff).
Was called multiple times to come and start a 2 week trial. Upon arrival was told that I have already had a pass activated before so I won't be issued one. Why would they call me multiple times to come and start a pass only to tell me that I can't in person. Wasted 30min driving. Avoid such an unprofessional place.
Nice place! Everything you need in there and more. Staff was great with a tour before working out. Thanks!
Goodlife fitness the way to go.
I came in from out of town to play basketball and saw that the court was being used for volleyball. I asked for a refund because I couldn't use the facilities for the reason I came and was told by the manager that they could not issue a refund from their end. They do not post availability times, and it's first come first serve... fine. However if being there for literally less than two minutes and not have touched anything justifies charging me a full day pass, then I sure want to let everyone in my circle and online know how they conduct business at this location.
Wyatt has always been very helpful with my membership. He is very friendly and a great manager.
Very nice gym with friendly staff and the place kept well clean. Only reason for 1 star is because the hours are terrible and don't line up with my work schedule. Wish the gym was 24 hours.
Nice and clean
If you go before 2-3pm this place is awesome, otherwise avoid the late afternoon and evening rush. Hot tub, sauna and pool sets this place apart from other workout gyms
Great place to workout and clean
Big space, nice people and clean as well. The price is also very affordable, good for serious people going into fitness
Crowded during peak times, and the layout could be better. I don't like how the benches don't line up with the ceiling... I'm always questioning whether or not I'm lined up straight. The one thing they've got going for them is the guest passes. Bring two people with you for a workout and those two people don't have to be the same two people for the next workout.
The trainers are just a joke here guys, they are the most clueless people about the fitness and health I have ever seen in my life comparing my 10 year experience in roughly around 20 other gym places I have been to. PS some staff are really racist and unfriendly, they just ignore, while you talk to them right in front of the front desk.
If u r looking for a good and cheap gym ..lA fitness is a good option.
Great atmosphere, very spacious, multiple equipments, great and friendly staff.
Definitely not the BEST LA I've been to, the personal training only room has the better equipment, go figure haha, but generally pretty clean here and usually not crowded which is awesome (and probably due to the fact that it doesn't have as many amenities as most LA's do). Staff are quite pleasant when they aren't busy trying to push a personal training package or some other scheme on you.
Great gym, very clean. Wyatts the best.
The cleanliness of the showers is poor.
An employee there belittled, attacked, and generally humiliated my fiance. The worst customer experience I have ever recieved. So disgusted by this gym. The manager said that the person maybe just needs more training. Pathetic excuse. Shouldn't put your employees on the floor if they are going to be bullies.
Love the women’s workout room
Needs a deadlift area, but otherwise a great gym.
Very big gym, always room to work out.
Nice facility, however sales person attempted to sell me a pass under the pretense gym would be exact same as the west side location. Aka free WiFi and punching bags for cardio. I had to fight for the WiFi and there are no sign of any punching bags at all. West aide location offers far more.
Wow. I had 4 trainers in less than a year because people kept quitting. I followed through with my end of the contract and expected this gym to follow through on there's. I sent and email expressing my concerns, nothing back. I followed up, over a month later and was told to talk to the head trainer. He was rude, unprofessional and told me I was wrong. I followed up with Michelle (front end manager, she was helpful) she said she would speak to head office. Got nothing. I followed up again, no response from upper management followed up again Michelle said someone would contact me that day. 3 weeks later not a word. Thesebactions show this company doesn't care about their clients. I did not get the results I was hoping for, they lost my training book and tossed me from trainer to trainer. 2 were great the rest subpar. I will be cancelling my membership and going public with the better business bureau and the local trouble shooter. If I pay quality prices and hold up my end then they should give quality services and honour there end.
I’ll give two stars for the equipment and amenities, but NONE for the staff. The customer service is so poor. Once they know that you are only coming for free trail but not actually sign up and pay, even the fake smiles are gone. I’m using the gym not chatting with the staff anyway but I really think they need more training.
(Translated) I jiat love LA (Original) I jiat love LA
Oh wow
Worst ever gym club. They work just and just for money. I registered about 2 years ago and they charged me month to month. After 6 months I got pregnant and I couldn’t keep on so I would rather to freeze my membership. Until now they are calling me every Single day and want to charge me unfairly. Don’t recommend to go there.
Hours are terrible , over crowded , wish I didn't sign up
Super great, nice and tidy, lots of space, lots of machines and even during busy time it still has room to move so you don't feel as if you're ontop of one another. Lots of doubles (I.e. squat racks, bench press, Smith machine)
Great Workout Atmosphere, have all the amenities necessary to get you going for great workout session
Where to start, first off we got a free trial to see if we like the gym. The gym itself is okay but there is problems with cleanliness. There are not proper stations for wipes it's just some liquid dispenser and paper towel and it's an inconvenient walk across the gym to get to it they need more cleaning stations. People don't wipe their equipment. The child care does not have proper ratios, they do not take your child's information the lady didn't even know which child was ours. Which is a huge safety risk anyone could come take your kid.. There is no specific bin for your child's bag so they don't know which bag is for your kid. When we approached the manager Aaron Silverman to express our concerns he got extremely defensive and was not able to answer our questions. It was a take it or leave it attitude. But they are going against regulations for child care. Horrible customer service when you can't even address issues and solve the problems. I wouldn't recommend parents to use this gym. Sure it may be cheaper than other places but the lack of service shows.
????????????????
Absolutely terrible customer service. I was the lucky recipient of a charity (won’t say which) silent auction. LA Fitness on Cundles Rd donated 5 x 1 Month free passes to the charity silent auction signed by the General Manager - Valerie something - which I paid $150 for. I have a membership but my wife doesn’t. She wanted to get one to see if she would start going but didn’t want to pay the registration fee so I got her these 5 x 1 month passes to see if she likes it. When we tried to redeem them, Wyatt Dennis - General Manager - said he can’t give us 5 months free, claiming “it’s like using the 1 week free trial over and over again”. I said “no, your week trials expressly state ‘one per use per person’ while my month certificates don’t.” “Well I’m sorry but I can’t give you 5 months free” I said “if you’re the general manager, why is this signed by a Valerie person?” “Well she shouldn’t have signed under my name” “so when I call your customer service line to speak to your boss for giving 5 x 1 month memberships to a registered charity and not allowing my wife to use them, what should I tell them when they ask ‘what resolution was offered to remedy the situation?’ An apology?” “I’m sorry but I can’t help you” When I called and asked to speak to the VP, I was told he’s busy but will call me back by tomorrow morning and he’s aware of the situation. About an hour later I receive a call back from Wyatt stating that he is able to give me the 5 months free. This isn’t the only instance where I’ve been told Wyatt is a joke of a manager. I hope you never have to deal with him for any reason. The centre is not usually busy and clean. No sauna though. There’s my review of the centre.
Had a great experience. Wyatt was amazing made me excited to get started and feel welcome when I came in. Great experience overall
The service here is beyond amazing! The front desk never fails to greet me and act very professional. I am very picky on anyone looking after my kids but the kids club here is always great. When I did have a problem with my membership the front desk manager was extremely helpful. Best gym in Edmonton hands down
Staff was unfriendly and the personal trainers are can fit pro certified which is a weekend course . These trainers are complete jokes. Best off to do your own research and train yourself . Waste of time and money for a trainer who just wants your money and could care less about you. They charge you in between 40-60 dollar a session for only 25 minutes !? And pay the trainer 7.50 a half hour. Talk about money hungry corporate thieving . You want all your money to go to the trainer who actually cares about you . It's best not to go through the gym and go privately owned . These gyms are not your friends and don't care about you at all .
Clean, spacious, loads of machines, free weights, personal training, friendly staff that keep you coming back. Great gym!
Good
Worst costumer service ever...I called them to cancel my membership over phone which is against their policy and due to Covid-19 positive I'm not allowed to go to gym so they hung up by saying our manager will call you and their manager didn't bother to call me back....totally disappointed
Good????????????
very well kept place, waiting time for machines is almost none. You get your buck for the price. the weekend staffs are very friendly. Tried the bootcamp and cycle class. love it. By far one of the best and hardest cycle class in the county. Bootcamp was also challenging.also
The worst experience with a location of LA Fitness on Calgary Trail Edmonton, AB. We decided to cancel the membership and I was advised this could not be done at the phone and I had to come in to the location from 9am till 5 pm on weekdays only. We took time of work and came to the location. The employee at the desk said it was cancelled. Two days later I received an email from LA about the fees due. I called the location and was told there were no notes on the account and the account is still open. We also were told by receptionist Sara that I was helped by a team member that was not authorized to cancel anything. We went to the location on Monday 6 September 2021 at 9 30a.m. and this time we requested a photocopy of the cancelation. Not only we had to ask for it a few times as the employee Daniel did not want to give it to us, but also he, alongside with two coworkers ( one really intimidating and extremely rude, with long blonde hair on top) yelled at us things like "ok, bye bye" and "they only work there at minimum wage". This was so humiliating and degrading not only to us, but to the people around us. We called another gym location, and spoke to a manager, who was respectful and did take care of us while on the phone. We appreciated customer service from Nick, but we are appaled at Calgary Trail location.
Service was great thanks too Carson
I unfortunately had to cancel my membership due to medical concerns. I went in physically to do and the regional manager stated she cancelled my monthly membership (was not in fact done) and I would have to contact member services to cancel PT. 2 calls to them and they couldn't do it so directed me back to location. 2 messages left for Wyatt were unreturned over 4 days. I called back today and a non manager was able to cancel in 7 minutes (I recorded call). Such brutal service and unnecessary stress for someone going through multiple medical issues. Stay away from this location and LA Fitness.
Very busy right now (5 to 630 pm) as many other gyms are still closed due to Covid.
The north end LA fitness is a great environment and very clean. The service and staff are super friendly and provide excellent service. A big shout-out to Wyatt Dennis for his excellent work, perseverance and costumer service!!!
They always seem to have trouble with the hot tub and pool..not worth the trip to come if that is the only reason to come..
Great gym , month to month and no contract . It's your adult rec center basically for half the price ! . I like their method of cleaning , its actually eco friendly with the paper towels ( recyclable ) , there is TWO box stations beside it - one is a hand sanitizer and other Is to clean it .. But there's usually a bottle spray on top . Why do you want a cloth ? It harvest peoples germs from their hands and repeatedly used , atleast their method is a new paper towel used each time, wiped and thrown our .They open all week long , its not 24 hours but if something is important you'll make time .Been there all hours of the day and have not had any issues during my work outs . I get in and get to it !
It was nice until they started to call me for an appointment that I wasn't even aware of.
all mothers out there!! never go to this place!!! worst kidsklub service ever they have. it is being managed very unrespecfully and unprofessionally. my child who is 2 and half years old got hit by the employee over there. I asked the employee what happened. She started to cry out then finally say Fxxx to me in front of other kids there. the manager came over and she was totally on her employee side. i ended up quitting membership with this company. experienced horrible customer care service especially for kids!! i should have NOT expected a good quality enviornment with 10$ /month. lol
Very knowledgeable and helpful staff, clean environment. Equipment is well maintained and top of the line.
I got a 4 day free pass, went in there and they said I have to bring my parent in otherwise I can’t enter the building. I’m 17, pretty sure not a kid anymore. He was extreamly rude and didn’t show any sign of respect.
Water fountains are always broken. The sales reps are like timeshare salesmen. They bug you constantly for referrals. Equipment is in great shape, everything is new. This location is in need of more squat racks.
Worst gym i've ever been a member of! Terrible sanitation, dumb staff, cardio equipment that never gets fixed, and a hot tub that's never worked. Where to start?? After 4 months of being open they still can't figure out how to keep a hot tub running. Its hasn't worked 90% of the time. Twice I even called ahead to see if it was working and was told it was, i drove down, showered, and came to an empty or freezing cold hot tub. If you are coming for lane swimming be prepared for constant alarms going off every 15 minutes (for the hot tub that never works) and the occasional super loud evacuation alarm that the staff never seems to notice or know about. Their sanitation system is ghetto brown paper towels that you pump hand sanitizer onto (IF the pump is working and you don't have to hunt around the gym for one that is). It does a poor job cleaning and is not friendly to use so predictably, no one does. You really notice it at he stretching mats are always covered in footprints, hair and skin. When a kindergarten classroom has a better sanitation system than a gym with thousands of members you really shake your head. Why can't they use sanitary wet-nap dispensers like every other gym? Or even a spray bottle with a cloth on it? If you like to use the tv's or listen to music while on the cardio equipment, don't rely on being able to zone out in your favourite jams. The audio doesn't work on a third of the machines and i haven't notice one ever get fixed even after telling the staff who are generally completely indifferent or give you attitude when you tell them equipment is broken or ask them why an evacuation alarm is going off that no one is doing anything about... And for some reason the staff thinks it's okay to tour new female staff through the mens change room in the middle of the day. Yes i was naked. And no they didn't see the logic in say, giving a tour BEFORE the gym opens. (why do they need a tour of the mens change room anyway?!) If you need a gym with a hot tub (as i do for physio), stick to the City of Edmonton gyms. Really, if you need a gym at all, this one isn't even worth the $40/month.
Why the water was not clean , they even shut down the swimming classes ! I’m sacred to take my kids there to get sick
Facility is great and everything, but hot tub is disgustingly very dirty.
Ok i was reading some one with same experince as me the two girls and how they made me feel and so will copy and paste thisThe two girls at the front desk have ZERO regard for customers and very rude!! geez!!..I don’t understand how you’re still in business. It’s not enough that your gym seem full atm, it’s just a matter of time before your attitude towards your customers will catch up with you. The manager (some weirdo with a weird hair cut) was pathetic too geez!! I won’t sign on for free!! Horrible!! I repeat! Worse experience ever!!!. Horrible i agreee we had same experince , this is very weird interms some of how this girls behave !
Great place to work! Staff treated extremely well, happy, energetic and knowledgeable. Lots of open space, all the equipment you need.
Horrible and disgusting bunch!!????????. Customer service experience was terrible,.. they don’t even deserve one star, but I had to just to put up this feedback. The two girls at the front desk have ZERO regard for customers and very rude!! geez!!..I don’t understand how you’re still in business.
Good
Always clean, even when busy it's easy to get equipment and space
The staff here is awesome. The gym can be crowded but the staff rocks
This place is truly a waste of time and money. Horrible and immature staff. Was not informed of any of the "hidden fees" that magically pop up as soon as the first month is over. Not once did i ever enter the gym to a semi-friendly staff member anywhere. Many machines were always out of service and when i asked the staff about the status of their repair, they had no idea what i was talking about and went back to texting away on their cell phones. Locker rooms were absolutely disgusting. SAVE YOURSELF THE MONEY. THESE PEOPLE ARE CROOKS.
Glad my membership is over. Staff is polite but unfriendly. If English isn't your first language, get ready to have problems making yourself understood at the front desk and having Michelle, the receptionist, looking at you weird, enough to make you feel uncomfortable (luckily, as a foreigner, i can say it doesn't happen often here). The locker room was never clean during the 6 months I used it and the hot tub is most of the time gross: don't touch the wall! It is also randomly cold, same for the pool. If you're thinking about using the pool then forget about tuesdays as the people doing aqua gym will kick you out!
Brand new state of the art facility. Friendly staff, clean pool, and plenty of parking!
The Wi-Fi is terrible, cant even stream a song. They violate your rights of medical privacy and you have to come in within specific hours to cancel your membership.
Good
So am not allowed to go there so I canceled but they won’t refund me the last month am like but am Not allowed to go there they said it is what it is seriously!!
LA Fitness on Cundles is great. It is a bit smaller than the other locations but not by much. Equipment and lockerrooms are always clean. Some things do need maintenance (water stations) but not a major concern as I am sure they will eventually be fixed. My only complaint would be the locker rooms in the summer time are very warm. They need AC. I go to the gym in the early mornings and I'm surprised at home they are compared to some of the other rooms. Other than that, it's a great gym.
My friend brought me to this new gym as a guest. The front desk and the sale people are rude and ignorant. They are not trained. Gave misleading information - one said have to pay, the other said no it is included. The sale guy - not professional - pushy and rude. Wonder why they hired him as a sale.. unless they don't want business..
Great place for a solid work out but only wish they had a 24 hr set up. Felt like I was being booted out of the gym yesterday when I wasn't even finished for God sake ????. Other than that definitely a great gym.
I like it
As someone who has had bad experiences with gyms in the past it was shocking that Mehdi and I had clicked so fast. From the first time I walked into the club, to every time I leave Mehdi is always there to give me a warm welcome. The club is extremely well kept and very clean which makes it even easier to appreciate this gym. The sense of culture and community that this gym has is exceptional. I can honestly say that my time with this gym and my experiences here have been amazing. To anyone looking at fitness clubs in this area I highly recommend coming to LA Fitness, you will not be disappointed. Thank you Mehdi, and thank you to all of the staff here that make my experience a memorable one.
I only liked a few things about this gym: the exercise areas are well maintained, the air is really well circulated with many overhead fans and it’s a very large, modern facility. Besides that, LA Fitness at this location leaves much to be desired. Very few classes at this location and what they do have is awful (except for one fitness class by Sandy and a spin class by Faith). They promote kick boxing on their CC tv but there aren’t any. The staff generally ignore you they sit around at their desks an do who knows what. I suppose they’re all sales people doin their thing? They have an exclusive area with exclusive equipment for people that have purchased personal training. So, all the cool equipment like battle ropes, kettlebells, TRX stations and a few other things are NOT accessible to people unless they’re registered with a trainer. Beyond that, you only have access to traditional weights, cardio machines, a few rowing machines and some muscle balls.... whippieee. Oh, and a pool if you’re into that. If you’re planning to wash your hands or use a stall, you need to check for paper towels and TP. They are frequently empty (I’m at the gym minimum 4 times a week and at least 2 visits a week they’re out.) I’ve pointed this out several times but they just can’t seem to manage to keep these maintained. There are a few other gyms in Barrie that offer much, much better equipment at a far less cost.
Clean and very big. Pricey though and weird sales tactics.
Good for you and your family
wow what an incredible experience I had when I walked in for my first time. First impression was Lisa the operations manager, she was welcoming and friendly, she maintaines a clean club. Second impression Wyatt, the GM he was not pushy with sales and was very out going and showed me around the facility where then he introduced me to Mike the personal training director. Everyone is so friendly and very happy to help me thru my fitness needs.
A little bit more expensive then other gyms but it always clear and smells great. I'm just glad I don't have to book my visit to the gym.
This gym poorly managed. Sales technique to let member to bring 10 freeloaders creates crowd and no money for corporation. Some equipment never used but occupies space some equipment so popular that hopless to get any time on it. Yet management wouldn't replace unless machines with ones in demand. Some people doing very creative exercises in unsafe way, but stuff don't care. Pool temperature is way too hi, but staff has no clue what is olympic standard for pool's temperature. On other hand hot tub is often out of service and temperature is too low. Sauna has timer, needless to say if no one was using it before it will take hours to reach temperature, which set too low for my taste. Air quality inside is terrible, hot and humid. In this condition women taking more close off, but it is gym, for Christ Saicks. Hours of operation are poorly chosen. Why in world would you set different hours for each day of week? Very alarming that hours of operation are in fact coordinated with bars and night clubs. When bars open LA Fitness closes. Is it because staff members going to second job to bars and strip clubs? Management needs attitude adjustment. Please, head quoters, send knlowegeble executive to Edmonton
Not a bad gym if you like out of date equipment and amenities. EVERYONE fills up water bottles you’d think they would update their fountains to have not only cold water but a proper fountain to fill your water bottle with adequate water pressure. It’s been over 6 months I’ve asked what the point of having paper towel to wipe the machine when there is no sanitizer dispenser to be found anywhere near it. Nothing has been done to remedy the situation. When the time comes will switch gyms in a heartbeat.
My wife and I love this gym. It has great prices, you can do month to month memberships which helps for students like me. It has a great pool for swimming and and nice hot tub. It has a basketball court which is fun to play pick up. The machines and equipment are all very well maintained and new. Would recommend this gym over the others that are around here
Please be aware of your contract specifications. They told me it was the last day of discount on membership where I had only to pay monthly fees if I paid for 6 months of membership. I received the contract later on due to which I did not read it and I came to know this when I was charged the amount somewhere near 49$ after 3-4 months. On asking the front desk guy he told me that he had my initials on it due to which he could not do anything. So please do not trust them on their verbal contracts as they lie . I do not remember the name of the person who gave me the membership but his last name was Mr Patel . Moreover my membership is also finished after 6 months and they are charging me a 10 $ fee for freezing my account instead of stopping it . And the interesting part is that I went inperson to stop my account. Moreover I was suffering from slip disc during last 2-3 months of my membership and when I asked them to use my membership later on they refused it. Such a waste of money and time over here .????????
Been coming since it opened, still clean, equipment in good shape, friendly staff.
Came in with every intention of signing up for a membership. After meeting the under qualified AGM and unhappy dud of a GM, who wouldn't move from his desk even when he knew there was an unsatisfied customer, I left beyond frustrated and will never go back again. Customer service 0/5.
I loved how they have many machines of each kind which reduces waiting time... and the pool is generally not crowded
Switched from different Gym and definitely can say that atmosphere in This Location is Amazing lot of space ,pool finally works ... it's was close because of the restrictions! And definitely thanks to Logan ... if you need membership that's the guy you need to see !!!!
I spoke with a representative on Oct 9th at 527pm and put my membership on hold. Today I found out you are STILL billing me. I tried calling and waited for 20mins on hold, no answer. Is this some sort of game you play? Tell members you are putting a membership on hold but lie and keep billing them? Horrible customer service. Please get back to me asap to fix this problem
I had a girl call me as I put name on something saying I could try the gym for free for a week. Well what a liar she was and all about sales. I show up for the first time she greats me and brings me to a guy who proceeds to tell me alllll of the ways I can join. I’m like I thought I get to try first then she comes over and they both proceed to tell me it customer appreciation day or something and they could do it for cheap. I was so pressured and they said after my week I could cancel and get refund. I had that one day and decided never to return because of the mass amount of pressure to join.
COVID-19 BREEDING GROUND This gym does not take AHS guidelines seriously. The gym is very crowded as they do not limit the amount of people that enter their facility. They also have children's swimming lessons which further increases how crowded the facility is. The equipment is much closer than six feet apart and 95% of the gym goers do not wear masks. There are large groups of people standing together and chatting. There is no enforcement of social distancing rules by staff. Most staff members do wear masks, however there is one younger gentleman with glasses and beard who constantly wears his mask below his nose or not at all. The basketball gym sits empty. I'm not sure why some of the equipment has not been moved into this area to help spread people out. Hopefully management sees this, and implements some changes to help reduce Alberta's rising covid cases.
DO NOT SIGN with personal training program. The 50% buyout option is a mjoir trap. What a joke. They do not adhere to implementing the programming as advertised. 1st trainer did nothing of what he said he would after the first visit. Then they offered me to go with a different trainer. They were ok but none of the programming based on goals was never done. I've been fighting to get out of the contract. They say nothing can be done at club level so got referred to corporate. Corporate refers me back to club office to same person I dealt with before saying they have ultimate authority. Then I get a call from a different trainer offering a free session. Like I want to go back there after all of this. Facility is fine but do not get tied in to any of their contract bullshit
I've been going for over a year, the trainers are pretty great and the staff at the front desk are generally quite friendly. The gym itself is fairly large, lots of cardio machines (bikes, ellipticals, treadmills, etc). The middle area is full of your normal run of the mill weight machines with a reasonable selection. The back is where the free weights are located with a healthy number of stations. There's a basketball court which you can book, and a bunch of different exercise classes you can sign up for at no cost (included with membership). I've never tried the pool, but it's always fairly empty whenever I visit in the mornings. Overall I was very happy with my membership until I actually tried to quit. I've spoken with the sales staff four times now and visited once in person... and I've been billed for two months of membership and trainer fees even after I had supposedly cancelled my membership. I would not recommend this gym due to the issues I've run into with cancellation (I've had to dispute the fees with my credit card company). They seem to be unable or unwilling to refund me for the two months of extra billing.
Very clean place. They took seriously all the Cov19 measurement. Young and entusiastic customer service. I am very happy with this place.
Would recommend to anyone looking to get in shape or people who are trying to get big. Amazing equipment, all Top of the line hammer strength equipment with everything you would need for free weights. Absolutely amazing customer service. The general manager (Wyatt) is very nice and would take his shirt off his back for the gym's clientele. Easy to book and to get in everyday unlike other gyms which are harder to schedule times. Super clean gym with everything you would need. 5 out of 5. Best gym I've been to in a long time.
Disappointed. This gym is not functional whatsoever. Has limited equipment for accessories and warming up (ie. stability balls, bands, jump rope), only has two squat racks in the entire gym, and no where to deadlift... Dust balls all over the floors, weights unorganized and you can't fill up your water bottle. Unfortunately will not be back.
In January this year I decided to join LA Fitness again. Manager Wyatt handled the sign up process with professionalism while making me feel I belonged there. I was introduced to Mike Burns for a training session. Mike made me feel welcome and is very knowledgeable in his job. Consequently I signed up for a 6 month training session. I feel very much like I can train there and my age and ability have nothing to do with my training goals. Unlike my past experience these two competent employees make me feel no intimidation in my journey thus far - thank you Wyatt and Mike for all your assistance for making my first month an enjoyable and successful experience!
Childcare is awesome!
My daughter recommended this club to help me get in my feet for working out. I have multiple injuries from the military and find it really hard to work out. The sales staff lady who helped myself and my husband was amazing. Very too the point and didn't make the process this huge drawn out thing. The front desk staff are always friendly to me every time I come in. Even if they are on the phone they at least wave at me and scan me in. I constantly see this one young lady always cleaning away. She's always all over the place making sure all is done. I was quite impressed as I don't believe she's much older then 20 and she was tenacious at her job. Over all very impressed with the facility!!! Highly recommend it!
Amazing service ad friendly staff. Wyatt is phenomenal!
Wyatt got me all signed up, he explained the different options in detail and made sure I understand the breakdown as well! his outgoing personality makes you feel right at home. Jesse made sure to set up my complementary training and planning session with him and from the tour and brief time we spoke he seemed knowledgeable, understanding and makes you feel very at ease. Facilities are clean, and the change rooms are gorgeous! i can’t wait till i start losing weight and taking progress pics with their fantastic lighting.
I have going to la fitness for 2 and half year but at the end I am very disappointed with the management... I have been taking the personal training sessions and after a year I signed all the documents to cancel that. After doing that my debit was charged twice roughly about $210.00 for 2 months.. I contact them for enormous time but there is no answer... every single person works there claimed themselves as a manager.. nobody wants to answer in a proper manner. And everybody was trying to push me from one person to another. I even called the customer care in United states as this guys they dont have any HR or Customer service department in Canada. But as usual there is no answer. They clearly refused for refund and they even said that if there is a magic button they would have bring the money back to my account. The worst experience of my.life so far in customer care from la fitness.. Warning to all the new people who are thinking to join their club, do not trust on their fake smiles they will not be helpful if you have any trouble with accounts and payments..
Good gym, great staff. Gets busy during prime hours as you would expect
Lots of machines and no waiting. Really like the pool
Issues with having patrons complying to mask rules.. MORE people with masks OFF then off. Staff are not monitoring or correcting... Costing them my son's membership.. Gyms has been super spreaders... so compliance is very important.. so not true to health and fitness ideals
I always feel welcome by front desk staff when i go during after work hours super friendly and professional However i got ripped off when i signed up by lying sales team who have immature kids working for them. Men’s locker room is always dirty during the weekends while male staff do nothing about it.? Sad to say i will be cancelling my membership
This was the worst customer service I have ever had @ a gym. I've been training for a really long time & have quite the knowledge in this sport. These trainers don't even know what their doing with their clients. They hire people that don't give the right advice to their clients who are trying to reach their goals. The MANAGEMENT is the worst part about this facility. Not professional & treat their members horribly with ignorant tonalities. PATHETIC
Wonderful staff, the gentleman named Austin was very helpful and friendly
MUSIC IS WAY TOO LOUD
Dear Sir/Madam, My name is Puneet, holding membership of LA Fitness from February 2018. I would like to share an unfortunate incident happened to me last night in LA Fitness, Calgary Trail, Edmonton. It was a usual day for me, Myself and my wife went to LA Fitness for work out and just after 45 mins of workout. I went to pick my stuff from the locker and realized that all the stuffs present in the locker is stolen. I requested the manager to take immediate action on the investigation and share the camera footage with me but he mentioned that - He will be on vacation for next entire week. Is there anybody who can take this matter seriously? Moreover, I would need help from LA fitness management to look into the matter urgently and help me with the following things- 1. Need the footage for the date - 18-DEC-2018 between 7:30 to 9:30 PM. 2. Refund for my last months of the remaining membership immediately. Note- If no response within 24 hours then I will take this matter further. Thanks!
I had signed up for a guest pass and never received it, so they let me in for one day. I then signed up for a guess pass 4 months later and received it in my email. I went to the gym and the older sales consultant would not let me in and tried telling me I’ve been there before, when my guest pass never worked before. This guy does not know how to provide proper customer service, which is super embarrassing for his age to be working a job like this and to think you are a hot shot. Over all this place is dirty, lots of theft (which they do nothing about) and terrible staff!
Love this place, would be nice if they had a sauna and hot tub like the barrie south location
Best gym in Barrie. I only wish they had longer hours
Good gym with pool
Very racist staff. They don't respect diversity. In my opinion, staff is not trained on how to speak with someone. They hire straight from college and teenagers that are using steroids
Decent gym. I find it a bit crowded with limited bars and other attachments for machine and cable work. Free weight for days tho
*PREDATORY BUSINESS PRACTICES* Initially signed up for a membership along with a trainer. Went to cancel the training sessions after a year, but this had to go through the operations manager, and nobody in store could help me out. Was told he would be in the next day. Went the next day. And the next, and the next. Nobody. Called, asked when she/he would be in. Got the run around for weeks. Finally emailed their corporate office who said the operations manager would be calling me the next day. A week went by and nothing. Contacted corporate again and after multiple emails they finally canceled my training payments, after 2 months unused had been processed, with no refund. Never spoke to an ops manager. Now moved to a city without an LA fitness, so went into Edmonton on my day off (a Saturday) to cancel my membership. Again, has to go through the ops manager who isn't in on weekends, which are the only days I'm available to drive into Edmonton. There is always someone there to sign you up, and ready to take your money (for a good facility, minus the minimal squat racks), but they make it as difficult as possible to cancel anything you have set up with them. Many better options that have equal if not better facilities, but with ethical business practices. If you are thinking about trying out a gym AVOID. Goodlife or Anytimefitness are much much better options.
Very friendly staff and very clean gym ????
I am new to the gym and don't usually go to this location but overall it was a great experience. Facility is clean and has friendly staff. Jonathan welcomed me right away and was really outgoing! Highly recommend.
Copper and wyatt are the best love LA !!
The staff is terrible. I was in a year personal training contract with them. Two months before my contract ends, I told the manager that I don't want to auto continue the PT. He said he can't do anything until the contract ends, but he will put it in the reminder. After my contract ends on May 21, I asked the manger again, and this time he said I have to gave him a written notice. I gave him a written notice the next day, and he told me it is all set. But today, I just checked, I am charged for the PT again. How the hell can I stop it? When they trick me in the contract, everything is easy and done on a pad just because "save paper". Now I want to quit, everything has to be written down. And it still doesn't work.
Unwelcoming front desk jenerally luck of proffesionalism , im sure this has to do with managment ..
Great gym, not busy and always clean. The staff is amazing, they are all super friendly and receptive.
Loved the facility! Surprisingly really big and a good use of space. The pool is probably the coolest thing though cause it's lane swimming all the time except when you have aqua fit classes and the instructors are always nice about leaving one lane for us lane swimmers! Staff at the front are really friendly always say hi to me when I come in!
Clean... friendly helpful knowledgeable staff... great location... great parking reasonable prices... state of the art exercise equipment and rooms. Great pool
It was ????
Nice gym but not the best for serious bodybuilders or lifters.
Very clean positive environment with very friendly staff
The staff's attitude is horrible. I went there to cancel my membership and the girl sitting at the reception asked me my reason.I said because my time do not work out anymore. She laughs and said it doesn't make any sense. She ask me again and I answered again and yet she said it still doesn't make any sense to her.lol If a customer wants to cancel, even the reason doesn't make any sense to YOU,why do you think you have the right to throw that kind of attitude towards your customer? I would never go back and for sure not gonna recommend to anyone. The staff just awful!!!
I am a regular here and its busy right after New Years. Hopefully cleaning staff can keep up. Only negative is the gritty floors in the men's change room. Lots of foot traffic from members who don't take off there shoes!! Great facility otherwise. Just wish members would clean up after themselves.
Two stars because it has decent equipment, though many of the cables can get damaged and be out of order for days or a week or two. Would be a 3 or 4 star gym if it wasn't in times of covid. It is simply too busy and members do not follow AHS guidelines. One visit from a health official would topple the gym.
This is a good gym has all essentials and rather large so lots of options, with that being said this gym does have flaws I would like to see explored before I renew my membership. Some of the flaws would be it is missing common essential machines and has extra unused machines. For example the cardio option is huge at this gym which is nice put this gym only has ONE squat rack! This is very uncommon and I would like to see more placed in this gym, there are 2 smith machine, 2 barbell rack? I don’t know what there called, and 1 squat rack. This is by far the most frequently used price of equipment in the gym and I often find myself waiting hours to get one squat rack, so we need more squat racks. Another thing I would like to see is better matinance of the basketball court it would be very appreciated if they mopped this floor and kept it grippy and sticky. Another thing that would be nice is more flexible hours especially on weekends. And I’m not even sure if I am aloud to use the pool I see kids swimming in there all the time and do not think it’s for the general public’s use age. So please if you get anything from this message get more squat racks. Oh and more equipment I would Love to see would be a standing calf raise, and a chest supported t bar row and also get a trap bar barbell there very hand. Thank you have a good dag
Amazingly clean facility, love the location. Gets busy but not overly so. Can always use equipment in a reasonable time period.
