Not impressed with anything. Have been a member since they opened but seriously regret it. Yes, there is lots of equipment, but its really cheap quality. Be sure that if you do decide to sign up, READ EVERYTHING. They seem to forget to mention very important information, and rush you to sign. I trusted their word when I signed, and now I'm stuck in a membership that is too expensive to get out of. They do not seem to even care to accommodate you if you are not satisfied. There have been a couple of times where personal trainers have interrupted my work out and asked me to get off equipment in the public area so they can show their client how to use it. NOT COOL. There has been other incidents with the personal trainers that I am not impressed with either. Very rude. Website is also useless. DO NOT GO HERE

Horrible experience here, visited someone for the weekend and wanted to go to the gym with them at GoodLife. Asked for a 3 day trial, came in the second day and the woman at the desk only gave me a 1 days pass so I had to pay $15 the next two days which is an insane drop in fee. On the third day there my $200 boots got stolen from the room at the front. Of course there is no camera in that room, so I talked to a guy at the desk who took my name and phone number but wasn’t very helpful. He said that management was in the next day and would review the tape and call me. Did not get a call.

Unable to take advantage of the 24 hour membership I pay for as this facility is not operating at its advertised hours. Covid is over, get back to 24 hours. We don't all work 9-5. This Google business listing states the facility is open until 2030 on Sundays. As a night shift worker I woke up early from my rest, raced to this facility a full hour and a half before the posted closing time, gym attire on and pre-workout consumed only to find the facility completely closed. Unacceptable.

Decent Gym, The ninja fit section is fun, but after covid 19, we ran into a billing issue when they resumed billing without giving me any notification. Foreword: This issue is not at the club level, but at the corporate level. I was billed for 5 months without attending the gym once. I asked for a refund and they admitted they were not able to help out... but they were willing to move my payments forward as credits. I felt this represented company integrity. Glad there was a reasonable resolution for both parties.

I have a national pass and visited GoodLife fitness locations from Vancouver to Toronto. This location in Red Deer is by far the largest, cleanest and offers the most options when it comes to equipment. It the only location I have visited that offers a “ninja fit” option. I would highly recommend checking this location out if you are travelling on QE2 to Edmonton or Calgary and see what good life fitness has to offer. Ask for their free trial and see what it’s all about. Keep up the great work GoodLife fitness!

Love the gym. However.... the childcare hours are unacceptable. There is only 3 hours every morning available for childcare which makes the place full. I would imagine so full its almost illegal. Last week there was 3 staff in the jump area. There was 5 babies... 7 very young toddlers and at least 25 kids. Normally my 3 year old goes. But this time big sister was with. In the 1 hour and 45 minutes not a word was spoken to either of them. Not one interaction with staff. The kids were left to run a muck. I was told when signing up that the kids play games as well. It even says it on the website. This needs to be addressed or the hours need to be extended. As this is unacceptable.

Been coming here for over 2 years and I doubt I'll go to any other gym. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and helpful, I will honestly say that I sometimes stop by and chat with them before and after my workouts. Trainers are the same thing and if you need advice on something they are always there to help unless there with clients lol. The whole gym area is clean and there's always different areas you can go to such as a bike area, ninja fitness, squat racks, deadlift area, etc... Also included is showers, sauna, tanning, massage chairs and and steam room as well as lockers and its open 24/7 Honestly I don't plan on leaving this gym for any other, its pretty awesome

Having been to numerous GoodLife locations across Canada, I can safely say this is the best. The interior space is enormous and even when very busy it cannot feel crowded. More squat racks and bench presses than you have ever dreamed of. Cardio equipment is plentiful too. The crowd is fairly nice and staff always puts on a smile. Parking lot is enormous and the spaces are large. There is literally no way to not find parking.

Beautiful (and HUGE) facility with an amazing variety of classes! The hot yoga, spin, and group fitness classes are great with incredible instructors. It also has amazing extras with the virtual fitness options, a women's only area, and the NinjaFit gym! There's so much to explore and play around with to keep workouts exciting and fun.

Pros: Great equipment and 24.7 Cons: Unprofessional staff that has no clue what they are doing. Story: Got a trial coupon for 30 days when bought shoes from Running Room. Front desk staff did not know how to use it which is ok if it's a random coupon. Told me that manager will activate my account and they will call me when I can come back to use the gym. A week with no phone call - I stopped by - was told that it's active and can come in any time. A few days later I come in ready to try it out - front desk first says that my membership has Expired :) After I questioned it, they said it wasn't activated and they need to find a manager. After 5 minutes of disappearing, no manager was found. They told me to go ahead with work out and it will be fixed by the time I'm done. You guessed it - nothing was done. Lesson here: they front desk people are not trained and/or don't care. Their manager either is a super busy person who cannot deal with things on timely basis or also undertrained and/or doesn't care. Needless to say, I'm not stepping in there again even though the facility looks nice and equipment is great. Cannot support that type of facility that just so disorganized. Cannot even imagine what I would have to deal with if I ever had issues with my billings/account etc.

I have been going to Goodlife since day 1 at this location . I love this gym and the staff! The general manager is amazing. She is hands on. I've lost over 70 pounds at Goodlife since it opened. The staff have cheered me on every step of the way . I wouldnt go anywhere else !

This is the best gym in red deer, if you block out the negative reviews about no pool being built or some staff member was rude, it's a 5 star gym. All the equipment you need is there in excess, you're there to work out and thats all that matters, not there to make friends with the staff or complain about no pool.

Great gym, lots of space and equipment, love the ninja fit. But why does the mens bathroom always smell like volatile B.O. and feces? I avoid using the washrooms because of this reason and it's quite inconvenient. Ventilation needs a huge improvement. The other goodlife gyms do not have this issue.

Be wary of their shady business tactics and severe lack of customer service and caring. I went to Goodlife to get a membership and they suggested I try 14 days for $14 to get a feel for the and then decide what kind of membership I would like. 3 days later all the memberships go up in price and they refused to honor the previously quoted membership prices that was given to me. I literally spend almost 4 weeks calling their corporate office, constantly being put on hold or never called back. 10 minutes ago I finally got through to a rep who refused to let me speak with a manager or supervisor. The rep explained that their memberships CHANGE PRICE EVERY MONTH which means you could be committing to a 2 year term agreement and get taken advantage of during a random promotion. Is that a way to show loyalty to customer? Absolutely not.

This gym is huge, bright, open, and has a wild selection of equipment. The staff are awesome and the other users are excellent. They take clear care to maintain the facility; the weights area is always organized and the sauna is consistently clean. Their biking section is great and has quality Keiser spinners, and the Ninjafit area is insane. They have an excellent selection of programs at convenient times. The steeper fees as compared to other Red Deer gyms are totally worth it considering the quality of the facility and the ability to use other Goodlife locations.

Well I signed up...sooo excited. I had my 1st Personal Trainer session. I injured myself before my session and I have other issues. I told him what I am unable to do and what I'm capable of doing. The session was a bust. Long story...anyways... He was aware after my session and said he would call back after our conversation to talk to me re..cancelling or putting my account on hold. He said they would call the next day at 2. I waited..and waited..and waited. A week later I called there left messages for him..nothing. I called again 2 days later ..nothing. Well you get the point. I finally called another 2 days later and spoke to someone in regards to my account. He says all good and it will be put on hold until I'm capable. Nope..it was not. Anyways. Unprofessional..and other issues. I am not cancelling due to it will cost more to sign up again. I had to cancel my appointment 5 hour notice. I was told I lost the session due to not giving 24 hour notice. What? I'm giving the gym a little bit longer. Then if I'm not unsatisfied moving on.

Nice, big space, with a great variety of equipment. But often equipment takes a very long time to get fixed if it is broken. Staff don't seem too keen or experienced. I've never bothered with the personal trainers-they have very limited training and therefore I do not trust their knowledge. There is little attention paid to cleanliness throughout the day. Also, good luck if you have a problem with your membership. We had an issue where our payments weren't going through because of an error that was made BY THE STAFF in transcribing our direct payment information on the sign-up form. As a result, our membership was abruptly cancelled and GoodLife wanted to charge us for breach of contract. Despite explaining multiple times that THIS WAS NOT OUR FAULT. GoodLife decided to "do us a favour" and allow us to continue being members. Terrible customer service.

Good equipment. This is NOT a 24 hour gym for the holidays do effect the opening and closing times, as well if the holiday hours are posted dont expect this club to be open at the times listed. Everytime theres a holiday the club employees or open employees always show up half hour to an hour late to open the club, so go about an hour after it says it's supposed to be open.

Went for a workout Friday, March 25th late afternoon. I had a busy weekend and didn't notice until the morning of Tuesday, March 29th that my PowerBeats 3 headphones were missing from my gym bag. I wasn't sure where I may had lost them but I took what I thought would be a long shot and called Goodlife Tuesday afternoon. The girl that answered (Marilyn I believe?) confirmed that they did indeed have them in the lost and found and put them in an envelope with my name on it for my roommate to pick up later that day as I was out of town. This just made my day as I thought I had lost an expensive pair of headphones!! A big thanks to whoever found and turned them in and a big thanks to the Goodlife staff for holding on to them and making sure I got them back!!!

I give one star to the equipment and 2 stars to Nada the Manager. I wouldn't deal with anyone else at this point if I need anything as the other staff promise calls back and don't follow though (this happened several times, I waited 2 weeks before getting a call back last time). Do not recommend signing up for the personal training as if you are unhappy with services they will make you pay out the contract anyway and it is very expensive. If you do sign up for personal training and decide you want to pay out your contract make sure to speak to a manager ASAP, they require 30 days notice or the payment will not be stopped. But really, wouldn't waste your time or money. Overall love the size of the gym and abundance of equipment/classes offered.

They have pretty much every type of exercise equipment I can imagine. I've never seen a time when there wasn't a spare piece of equipment I needed. 24 hour operation allows me to keep up with my routine even when I'm working 12 hour overnight shifts. Staff is friendly and informative. Facility is clean and modern. AC is effective and welcome during a tough exercise. Disappointed they decided against installing that swimming pool though.

The reason I switched gym because of the steam room even the membership is 55% more expensive than others. Considering the facility is kind of new in Alberta but steam room at men's wash room is always down. It is down since 1st week of January 2020 and until now it is not fixed. Staff are nice and hard working but bad management/leadership on fixing equipment.

Delivering a community atmosphere daily in such a largely open - and vast gym, it's impressive really, only downside I'd say - too much equipment and squat-racks

Been going for over a year pretty regular 6 times a week, the gym is phenomenal with its space & equipment selection. The facility is top notch but the housekeeping is poor. Dont pay for towels becuase usually they dont have any ready, before during and after your workout they only need 10 more minutes in the dryer. The steam room / showers are usually pretty gritty and gross.

Women trainers shouldn’t be training men, don’t want to be a sexist but it’s not appropriate. Yes boys are stronger than the girls but it comes to an extent where boys shouldn’t have to feel vulnerable around girl trainers. Sick in my case!! Watch your automatic charges people!! I had a membership at Goodlife for several years. It was a good membership, I added my daughter to my membership so we both had the benefits of it. Upon cancelling my Goodlife membership, I was charged one final month as notice is required. Imagine my surprise when 6 months later, they were automatically charging my card for my daughter's membership! I called and was informed that I didn't have authorization to cancel her membership, as she was an adult. Even though I added her to my membership and had authorization to freeze it during the pandemic . . . . I requested a refund of the charge, and was told no, that is not their policy. I suppose they will want one months notice for this as well. Watch your automatic payments with Goodlife.

FALSE ADVERTISING!!! I was promised a pool when signing a contract to this place and the pool was the entire reason why I switched from Snap Fitness. I had to cancel my membership, which had cost me money as well as having to spend money to start up going here. They act like the "decision" to not build a pool and to put something else in (which we still have no idea what that is) was to the member's benefit. Saying you're going to do something to get members contractually signed and then not going forward with the promise is a total BAIT AND SWITCH and is in NO WAY a proper business practice. This place is a total waste of my time and money. I'm very much considering the cancellation of my membership and going back to Snap Fitness, just to spite Goodlife. Because they definitely no longer deserve my patronage for actions like this Members of the gym almost never wipe their machines down after use, you spend most of your time wiping machines before use as well as after just to stay somewhat hygienic. They give you these crappy paper towels to wipe down with, which tear apart immediately when wiping anything. I guess they really want to strong arm members into paying the extra monthly fee for towels. (Towel service is free at Snap) Wi-fi is "Audio only"??? What gym does this!? I can't even watch my own shows on my phone when I'm on the bike? Naturally the best compromise is to force members to stare at your non subtitled TVs, with 95% of the shows on there, not being worth watching. Very disappointed in this gym and all the "great things" I was promised. I will be telling anyone and everyone who's looking for a gym, to go elsewhere.

Things they do right: - Huge gym - tons of equipment - clean - lots of showers Things they're doing wrong: - always out of soap in showers - sauna not even close to hot enough - steam room smells like creamed corn - seriously no wifi? - entire gym is constantly colder than my mother's deep freeze. Pro tip, if it's below 0 outside, you can probably turn on the furnace. I've now gone through 6 shirts that my nipples have ripped holes in because of this place. - only one box jump box. Seriously? Figure it out. - no dowels. How's a dude supposed to warm up? - tv and music situation is just sad. Change your playlist and stop playing your garbage personal trainer commercial. And honestly nobody wants to watch the Cottage Life channel or Gaming Show Network while they're working out, especially with no volume. Put on some sports highlights and news with subtitles. - kettle bells only go heavy enough for a senior ladies fitness class. - drop in rate of 15 bucks is straight up extortion. - figure out who your members are. If I come in 6 days a week and see you at the desk every time. You should probably know that yes, I do in fact have towel service on my membership. Don't check your computer every time. It's still me and my membership ain't changed. - out of towels at 2pm on a Wednesday....on January 2nd. You guys clearly aren't ready for the evening rush. I was told they'd be another half an hour until they were ready. Not prepared in the slightest Honestly I'm here out of necessity and because it's cheap and available in most cities. If you don't have to come here, don't. Support a small business in your town.

This rating is for the meditation class, Nancy is the most wonderful lady and I’m so happy this class is offered at this facility. I’ve been going for one week and have noticed significant improvements on my breathing already (I am asthmatic). Definitely attending every class I can, I hope this is a long term thing that they provide!

Had a tour a while ago and found the space just too large. Music was way too loud. Lots of machines but I don't need 20 of the same machines. Tried to sign up for a trial and the staff didn't seem to care. Finally found someone and told I can only sign up online. I haven't gone back. The whole place seemed impersonal.

Went into Goodlife for a tour and information about the facility. I was curious about the 3 day trial, and the staff was extremely rude. Said, "We dont just give those away, you need to go online, apply, and get a code." How was I supposed to know that? The same staff member showed me around and was extremely rude and impatient the whole time. It was as though I was an inconvenience to her. There was no attempt to set up a membership or inform me of class times or yoga schedules. When I asked about any upcoming promotions, she said " I dont know, they come when they come." Then I mentioned that I heard teens get the summer free, she said "that's not a promotion, its like that every year." When she showed me the membership options, I asked if I could get a copy. They have some great features that I was looking forward to enjoying. After reading reviews on here, and having the experience I did, I will be taking my business elsewhere. Not interested in exposing myself to that kind of negativity on a regular basis.

I have supported this gym for about 5 years. During covid, I followed the hour changes, the last minute closures, workout 1 hour appointments and everything else they mandated and put into place. This last week I broke my leg and I am unable to walk at this time and probably for about 4-6 more months and guess what, they won’t support you through your struggles. I could not get my membership frozen without charge, even though there’s no way I can physically go to a gym. There was nothing done for me. There is no point in supporting a gym that will not support you back, it’s as simple as that. After my recovery, I will be joining a gym that cares about its members. I used to enjoy this gym very much, but knowing their values and how they treat their customers, even in crisis, I will be looking elsewhere to invest my money into.

I’ve been to a few different gyms. GoodLife has stood out to me not just the variety of equipment, location and size. Mostly do to the atmosphere and great stuff like Safire, Tyler, Marcus, Xavier, Robert, Zusie, Makeala, Tabitha, Kaitlin, Tod, and Paola. This are just few that I’ve met. Very welcoming with great smiles that’s brightens up day. The little something that we can all enjoy and appreciate. Thanks guys keep up the great vibes

It is interesting reading all the reviews. Unfortunately that’s how it goes in business, everyone’s experience is different while being assisted by a variety of employees they have varying approaches as well as strengths and weaknesses. Nevertheless, I understand the childcare issue(s) that is a big deal to parents. I assure you they are trying to cater to everyone’s needs in that regard. As far as the pool, blame the city but it will be opening this year (2018) hold on to your pants. Lastly, if you’re looking for personal training I am confident all trainers are well equipped however, talk with Brady he is eager to help more individuals and is very knowledgeable. He is young and genuinely wants to help meet your goals. He is just getting started.

A 24 hr gym should be open 24 hrs regardless of holidays. pisses me off that we pay 56$ a month and when the only water fountain that you can actually drink out of without having to touch your face to the fountain because of such low water pressure takes 3 weeks to fix not to mention equipment and bathrooms taking just as long for very simple fixes. Such a cheap gym for what they said they’d offer. Management needs to step up and turn things up a notch!!!!

Tons of equipment and has what i'm looking for. Never have to wait for equipment. Really like the number of squat racks, benches and bumper plates available.

24/7 My ass. Nothing beats up at 4:30am head to a gym that's 24/7 And it's closed for Easter hours. When do they plan and giving rebates or refunds for lying about a pool.? Every person who purchased when this place opened was told pool in January 2018. They knew there was no pool folks as there has been no attempt at pool and have since said they're won't ever be one. Hey trainers get off your phone's when you're "training" people. And can someone please open a steroid free gym in this town. As a gym equipment etc it's great. Staff some great some not so great. Cost too high for what you get. Atmosphere is Terrible has been overrun by the big fellas and the skinny older women who should wear more than a sports bra to gym. Need Vince to open Average Joe's. My year is up soon thank God. I guess I'll try motion next?

Awesome gym! Biggest in Red Deer. There is so much equipment even at peak times there is still enough to go around. The staff are super helpful if I ever have any questions. I like that it stays cooler so that I dont overheat during my work out. Can't wait for the pool to open up.

Having tried good life for one month and seen what it has to offer I expect this will become my gym of choice. The main benefits I have observed is an abundance of equipment selection, a large variety of free classes, 24-hour Staffing, a separate workout area for women, and most importantly at this particular location a welcoming atmosphere. It must be acknowledged that although the pricing here is quite a bit higher than all the other gyms in town, a lot of that has to do with the amount they're offering included with the membership. Examples of this include the free classes and the extensive selection of equipment on hand. In most cases at other fitness centers that offer membership items such as these could be extra specifically when it comes to classes. Personal training will cost you extra at GoodLife however that can be expected to be found at any Fitness Center. If you're looking for a wide variety of equipment, a welcoming atmosphere, and to take advantage of some of these classes and other services you will most definitely find Value in the membership at GoodLife.

WHY has Goodlife not reverted back to open 24 hours?? Or at MINIMUM have same hours on weekends as weekdays. Goodlife has not decreased fees yet has decreased quality of service with these shortened hours. There is ZERO reason for this. OPEN 24 HRS!! There are many people who work shift work, pay their memberships but cannot workout? It's pathetic.

Like the gym but the child care is horrific under staffed and just plain terrible. They let my 8 month old baby hyper ventilate cry in a play pen alone obviously never paid any attention to him for him to get that wound up. The lady said he cried the entire time (1 hour)who would let a INFANT cry that long. That was the second time that happened so I will never take my baby there ever again, too bad cancelling the membership is so expensive I would rather take my business to body basics where I hear they have attentive childcare staff

Big gym, lots of space and even more equipment. Great environment for working out and getting in shape. However, the other amenities which I look forward to such as the sauna and steam room aren't anything even worth noting. Neither were given much thought in building/layout.. no smoked glass or tint etc, (nothing like a view of other people peeing while you're trying to relax). The steam room always seems to be either out of order or just not turned on after cleaning, (although when it is working it seems to have a pretty pungent odour not sure how well they get cleaned.)

This is the shadiest place ever. They sell you add ons ie. Personal Trainer, and its been well over a month of only having one session. Trainer cancelled session #2 and called in sick for session #3 and that was in March 29th, said they would call and guess what!!!!! NO CALL! Why would they! They have my money, as sessions are prepaid! Save your money and go support LOCAL, these big businesses do not give 2 sh*ts, once they have your money! VERY UNHAPPY CUSTOMER!

Ridiculous service, I’ve always loved Goodlife but I now live far away and need to cancel. The front desk staff today at this location were HORRIBLE. I was told to come back a half hour later. So I waited in my car until 1:30 to be able to speak to a manager and sign forms. No one was there so they told me to come back at 5pm. People don’t have a whole day to spend dealing with something like this.

Decent place to work out. Has all the equipment you will need for most types of workouts. Disappointing sauna room that does not get hot. Staff sometimes can be rude and ignore you. Promise of a pool is still looming over this place over a year after this place opened, which is a disappointing shame that deserves to be mentioned.
