Only reason I’m giving it 1 star is because I can’t give it a zero. Just terrible the way they treat their members and the way they do things. Even though gym is closed they are still charging my account regardless. They said they stopped the charging on jan17 but I still got charged on the 21. I tried to call and email they didn’t answer or even get back to me. Stay away from golds gym

Get the platinum membership!!! Its a great and clean place. Nothing worse than sweaty guys who don't wipe down equipment or dirty bathrooms right??? Everyone is respectful and the staff members are very encouraging and professional. Anyway I think the best overall thing about the gym is the mixed martial arts program. You got boxing and wrestling Monday; jui jujitsu and kickboxing on Wednesday and mixed martial arts and Muay Thai on Friday. The teacher is a great teacher. For anyone trying to train in mixed martial arts and get serious. Come to golds gym. Good encouraging fight classes and always new things to learn. I believe if you want to become a good fighter sing up for classes or a platinum membership and come fight.

Best equipment in the city for bodybuilding. HANNAH and CHELSEA were so welcoming and helpful. There was another staff member called Jackie who was very rude, confrontational and abrasive. I brought a friend of mine to try out the facility because she wanted to get a membership. We were bombarded by Jackie at the front desk. Jackie basically told her to leave without even trying to sell her a membership. She told her to leave even though she was trying to sign up. I feel reluctant to bring people there or recommend this gym to anyone because of the service

I didn't want to go public, but apparently Golds Gym has no interest in returning my calls, emails or messages. I have been charged $52 total since the gym closed down and I am wondering when the money will be reimbursed in my account? You have been closed since December and, while I understand that's not your fault, it is also not my responsibility to pay your bills for you while you aren't providing the agreed upon service to me. We are all struggling right now due to covid and I am trying to pay my own bills. Can you please do the same without stealing the money from your customers bank accounts? I have called my bank and issued a stop payment order so you won't be able to steal any more of my money.

This is a very well equipped facility. Their equipment is maintained, staff is friendly and the patrons are friendly and chill. First timer's can easily find help with posture and spots. WiFi is free as well

Don’t ever ever go to this gym because they lie to you in the contract they will say that no payment at the cancellation of the contract but that’s totally lie you need to pay for the cancellation which $200 and its really pain in the butt when youre going to cancel your membership. The staff are not helpful so think again before signing up.

Worst professional experience of my life. Most dishonest gym or establishment ever. After a year of sub optimal service, I declined to renew my gym membership and I verbally voiced this to the managers who had signed me up. A year later I get a call from the collections agency, notifying me I owe them $1400 dollars in fees to Gold's Gym. They neglected to cancel my account, the never notified me about attempting to take money from my account. Joining this gym was my biggest mistake, and my credit score reminds me of it everyday.

Been going here for about 2 years now and for someone who doesn't like the gym, Golds Northgate definitely makes it easier to come. The staff are super nice and helpful and greet you on entry and leaving. The layout of the gym is easy to use and open. Also helps that 95% of my friends work out here as well which makes gym sessions better.

Highly discourage everyone from going to this toxic gym. The equipment is dated, the atmosphere is uncomfortable and the cherry on top; the staff are HELLA RACIST and will deceive you to get you to sign up and lie about fees. They don't tell you about the cancellation hell you'll go through if you decide to leave. Would do zero stars if could.

My review will be based on the martial arts room. I like where the martial arts room is placed in the gym and the spacing of the punching bags, and there's usually enough equipment to go around. But i think we could use some new equipment. Like Bags (current bags are hard and lumpy, broken chains and straps), Kick pads, gloves , stuff to put in gloves so they don't stink later (please). Although I feel like there is places to improve I'm giving this a 5 star in hopes of new equipment and because of the community, there is a big pool of people to learn from, Where I am lacking they will teach me and I can do the same. I want to see us grow and someday host a tournament here.

I wish i could have given negative staring to this organization... pathetic service added up with a clear and straight intention of just looting money frm those who make the blunder of joining this gym.... I made my life's biggest mistak joining this gym.... it costed me more that 400 bucks... they will give u pains even to cancle the membership and the compalint handling is as worse as the staff... Noone is bothered to respond to ur complaints and mails... They will lie at ur face with ease..... they see u not as a customer but as an opportunity to earn maximum out of you.... Really Pathetic.... With such a pathetic staff and a noncommitted complaint handling mechanism they will make u feel helpless. Funny part is if u approach them to cancel membership they will give u an ootiin if freezing ur account and take again 10 dollars asaying the biweekly fee wont get debitted for a month meantime we can sell off the membership on kijiji... neither ur membership gets purchased by anyone nor ur biweekly fees stops n you end up paying 10$ more... Heights of looting.....

This has been a horrible experience so far, they have over billed me 2 times, secretary over the phone she extremely rude and personal training is disorganised. to talk to accounting it takes days for them to return your call, no one is accountable of their actions. while billing me for personal training, i never had not even one class. i was supposed to get a meal plan 2 month later in still waiting for it.

Nothing but issues! Yes the equipment is nice, but they deceive you and manipulate and bully you! I won a draw to receive 3 months free, but when I went in, the guy told me it was only one week free unless I sign a contract and buy a membership. It was reasonable at the time for $40 a month, so I agreed. He didn't give me any details and just pushed and rushed me to sign the contract. The next time I went in, 2 days later, they demanded payment even though we agreed to pay at the end of the month. I only went back 2 times after that and got fed up with them that I decided to stop going. They then told me that I had to keep paying, or cancel the contract, which would have cost me $300. (The guy never told me ANY of this, in fact he said I could cancel up to the 3 months) I left with the head corporate's number to complain, but no one would answer no matter how many times or when I called. I finally gave up and called the manager at this location, but they never answered either. When I left a voice mail, no one ever called back. I kept calling over and over but no answer, about a month later I got harassed via telephone by their payment company to pay them!! (STILL under the 3 month mark) I tried calling again but still no luck. Then then sent me to collections for over $1000!!!! I then had to pay $300 to get out of collections if I agreed to keep paying the $40 a month. The few times I DID manage to get a hold of a manager, she said that it was my fault and was very rude, and did nothing to help me. I have yet to be back after the 2 times I went. I have paid now $600, and have to keep paying $40 a month for who knows how long, or pay another $300 to cancel, all for 2 times on a treadmill for maybe 20 minutes each... My husband and I have been debating taking this to the media.

The worst service ever, this is way (when I signed up in the gym I used my debit card) I received a message that something was wrong with my account so I went to the front desk and they told me that everything was ok, some weeks later they told me that I have to pay 77$ because they tried to charger the monthly payment to my debit card and it was negated, so I told them hat wasn't my mistake because the didn't tell me that I have to use my credit card (the knew that I used my debit card when I signed up in the gym)..now I paid for they communication mistake.

What can I say about this gym...simply amazing! I use to work-out at Good-life...but found that it was not the right fit for me and my wife. Since joining Gold's best experience ever, the owner ALWAYS says hi or bye if he's at either location. He truly appreciates our loyalty to his clubs. I highly recommend this gym!!!! Sam the GM at Country Hills is awesome too...always willing to help and its amazing. Keep up the great work guys and gals!!!

Jacqui is awesome, she knows exactly what I need to do to improve and always helps me make the appropriate adjustments whenever I get injured from my coaching job. I am a part-time coach and university student so my schedule changes all the time; Jacqui always makes sure to fit me into her schedule wherever I need. The facility is pretty good and I have never had a problem with any of the staff; they always greet me with a smile and help me out whenever I ask.

Been to other gyms and none have the atmosphere like north gate golds! Very friendly staff as well and they have all the gear you need.

It was overcrowded during 6.00 pm to 7.00 pm. COVID protocols are out of window. 20% of cardio machines are not usable. Very old gym equipments. Needs maintenance for sure. Feels like highly priced.

I LOVE THIS GYM!!! I have had memberships at so many gyms in this city and this one is by far the best!! The staff and the owners are phenomenal and they have really gone out of their way to make me feel at home in this gym. I love the atmosphere and all the equipment works just fine in my opinion. It's full of great staff and members that are just there working hard on their fitness journeys and its really quite refreshing. I would recommend anyone to join here. You won't regret it!!

I have been coming to golds for quite some time now and have actually been to all the gyms in yyc. Golds has always been the epitome of what a gym should be equipment, towel service, sauna dry and wet and even a pool! After checking out all the other gyms no one has the amount of equipment like golds and platforms for powerlifters.Not only is their equipment awesome but also the service. The service team replied quite quickly to my recent concern about stopping the billing and added credit to my account for the months that the gym was closed due to covid. This is a great service by them and much appreciated. Looking forward to getting back into golds and getting a pump again.

I moved to this gym after issues with my previous gym not providing access even though dues where paid. Gold's has been fantastic. The people are beyond nice and they are helping me reach my goals. The client support staff is just fantastic. The manager during my initial consultation gave me amazing advice on what to change to help lose weight. Everytime I see him at the him at the gym he always stops to say hi and check in. Highly recommended.

My Gold's Gym experience was awful from the gym to the people handling their administration. When I canceled my membership they gave me every indication that everything was resolved only to find out that they reported me to the Credit Bureau. Just be very sure to read the small print if you do sign a contract with these guys. Be absolutely certain that you know what's entailed in their cancellation policy They make it next to impossible to get out of a contract.

Contrary to what some may say, the employees here are some of the best, hard working, dedicated people I have ever seen at a gym. With the personal trainer, they make sure you see the results you want to see and they make sure you are happy with it. The atmosphere is friendly. The gym is actually quite female friendly and they do enjoy it without actually being harassed like what I have seen in other gyms. The equipment is top notch, well cared for and the patrons treat it with as if it were their own. I see people encouraging others and have fun in doing so!!!

Kept charging customers during a PANDEMIC shut down and then had the gall to comment this (screenshot attached) in the local paper. Obvious the owner doesn't care about its members. Also, this gym was filthy pre-pandemic. There are better gyms to go to, I'd steer clear of this one.

This gym was good at first until I realized how money hungry and compulsive it is.. So much for a 2 year contract.. I guess they are allowed to add on another year, SCUM BAGS. This gym is full of lies, they will say anything just so they can take your money. DO NOT JOIN THIS GYM!!

Her happiness and optimisim is a shining light that everbody needs in a such a cold world. Her beautiful smile was very contagious. Gold's gym experience was great speaking from a non weight lifter I saw that the facility had adequate space for working out and did not need to wait for a turn on the machine or the weights. The small boxing/sparring section was also great everyone took turns filling the space for small skirmishes and the punching bags are in great condition plus having a size variety of bag really helps out seeing the power of your punches.

I had no problem with the people. However, it is easier to pull your own teeth out than to get out of your contract with Golds Gym Northgate. They use a 3rd party billing company based in Arizona and they bill, and bill, and bill to their hearts' content. I recommended this gym before but now, honest advice....don't register here. For the price and the headache it's just not worth it.

They were kind enough to let me charge my phone here. I saw so many people come and go during that time (10 minutes) I got a real sense of the atmosphere. It's quite energetic, positive, and friendly. This gym has a real sense of community. I plan on joining as soon as I secure the pay raise next year. Hope to see you there!

They continue to charge their members for this month when their gym is actually close. They have the worst customer service, they dont address this issue and will just keep deleting your comments on both their Instagram and Facebook if you have something negative to tell them. Will leave this gym as soon as my membership is done in a few months.

Used to be a great gym but both locations in the City have major issues. Marlborough has rude staff, some of them even try to intimidate clients which is really bizarre. Country Hills has many young guys who never put away their weights, wipe off equipment, or have basic gym etiquette. Made a formal complaint via voicemail, email, and email again, no one cares. I think there is a reason why there are only 2 Gold's gyms left in the city. Update 05/05/19 I did as you said and emailed the above address and still no response.

Disgusting place- past 4 years UPDATE SEPTEMBER 5th I absolutely had it with golds gym I needed to cancel my membership after many many years of dealing with it, btw the response to this - I don’t appreciate being lied to. Either way I cancelled and changed gyms a few weeks ago and am extremely happy at repsol. Did not communicate how closures will effect membership, continued to charge members without access to any facilities nor provide any online alternative and did not adhere to public health safety guidelines. On top of everything the cancellation policy is frankly predatory and infuriating. I will not be returning to Golds anytime in the future and will recommend others to also avoid joining.

Probably one of the grossest gyms I've ever attended. The woman's change room was dirty for weeks. The staff was rude and being a premium member got you bad service and a small towel. Would not recommend this gym. When I complained the woman at the front desk was all snotty about it and only offered two small towels. If I could give worse than 1 star I would! In response to what the owner apparently said below...it shouldn't have to take a upset client of 2 months to tell u the bathrooms are dirty. Clarification of what comes with a premium membership and the towel shortage. If people are complaining about it from awhile ago why is nothing being done. Offering me two towels and my husband being asked almost every time he's there to put a deposit down...again for a towel...when he's a premium member is silly. Today Feb. 7th he was asked again to put a deposit down for a towel. I stopped going to your gym mostly how my CONCERNS were handled. Everyone saying the GM has called and left me messages. I check my voice mail a lot and not one voice mail was from him. The woman at the front desk was giving me attitude while I was expressing my concerns. Now if you would like to speak to me over the phone you may call me otherwise accept the review and move forward. Take the review and do something about it. Thanks :)

Wanted to see what all the hype was over this gym. The staff was extremely rude and unprofessional. There was several people working out in bare feet. The gym itself was so dirty, nothing gets put away after being used it's all just laying on the ground scattered around the place. Just shows the staff doesn't care about how anything is presented. After lifting weights my buddy and I wade our way to the boxing area for that fun boxing Cardio. Immediately got intercepted by Dan, the Martial Arts trainer and he asked us if we wanted to train with him. Dan taught us AT LEAST 10 new and fun combat moves. He was patient and took his time to made sure we were executing each attack perfectly. We Had lots of fun and got that good cardio in just by training. Couldn't stop sweating. Would definitely enroll and would refer my friends to the MMA/Martial Arts class if Dan teaches it, great guy Seriously! Left The gym feeling empowered. Thanks Dan!

I much prefer Golds Gym in Country Hills. Northgate is not well-maintained. I’m currently using a 20 pound bar to put my weights on. The only one available has a big bend in it, which makes me feel unbalanced. Been like that for months. Doesn’t seem acceptable to me. Go to Country Hills Golds!

I've been here 6 months now and have reviewed the gym before with a 4 star I believe, my only issue being the men's washroom. The renovations during the Covid closure of them is top shelf, good job Gold's. I live how this gym is always looking to upgrade, new locations and new equipment. There is no lack of space or room for personal space to deal with 6 foot personal zones

I visited this gym for the first time and I shared a training session with my friend who is a member. The gym was well organized and very clean. The receptionist was friendly and greeted my friend by her first name! It immediately made me feel like this was a comfortable atmosphere. The personal trainer we had, Tyler, was very accommodating, encouraging and supportive. I'm an extremely out of shape individual lol so I really needed that comfrotability and support to complete things at my own pace (bit still being gently pushed) ultimately I enjoyed my experience and it's made me consider getting a membership for myself and continuing with personal training. Maybe. Lol

I like working out here, The staff is friendly and helpful. I especially love the new management. Will is a superhero truly inspiring and super shredded. He Always sparks conversation and always gives me tips that help with what I am trying to do. helped me with my muscle ups. The receptionist Brandch Is a great addition to this gym, he's always keeping the place tidy and always is joking with me and helping me with anything i ask he literally flies around hes got skill on that electric balance scooter. The gym has definitely changed since the last time i signed up with them. The staff are great people. the vibe is great everyone's there with the same goals. can't say enough about the place. I only took one star off for one reason I would like to see another rack or two and some weighted chains in the platinum room then it would be perfect.

If you're into calisthenics this place has a great setup of bars in the "platinum area". It has a wide variety of other equipment as well. The lighting is quite dim and the temperature is often out of whack. The bathrooms are pretty gross. The shower area has no ventilation so there's water droplets covering everything which leads to mould growing on almost every surface. If it wasn't for the decent equipment I wouldn't recommend this place.

Had a contract in 2009-2012. After my term was up I asked them to stop payment, as they did not comply I had to stop payment at my bank! They sent me to the creditors, funny thing is I used gold's gym religiously even with a illness I NVR used until trying to get them to stop a 3 yr contract that was already up. I have been trying to contact them on it, not sure if Shane Pereira, is still the accountant but they give people the run around! I would not suggest any company like that at all! Even paid extra for towel service. In all honesty gym was ok but service and run around sucks even the fact that I was sent to the creditors not even a week after I asked them to stop, that was rather shady.

WARNING: When there is a global pandemic, Gold's will continue to charge you monthly fees even though they couldn't provide a service during that time, they still told my husband he needed to pay up. Struggling financially during pandemic layoffs? Too bad. Gold's needs that cold hard cash :) When he tried to cancel his membership last month, customer service told him July would be his last payment after paying an insane $100 to cancel. Guess what? Surprise surprise, payments are still coming out now in August. Absolutely livid and will never recommend this scam of a place to anyone ever. So greedy that it's disgusting. Update: contacted the phone number listed below so the owner could "help" us sort this out. They said someone would call us back from upper management. Nobody ever did. Now we will be taking legal action if this isn't sorted immediately. I will not let this go and have hard earned money be STOLEN.

I enjoy this facility. Been a member since covid, they do their best following the guidelines that change frequently (must be frustrating). Cardio equipment is spaced out having every few closed off, weight area is less spaced but masks are worn by all and people just need to use common sense (granted not all do).

They stole $70!!! I bought 10 passes for $100. No mention of them expiring when I bought them. Went to use them, the rude lady with glasses said she couldn't find my account. Then she said she found it and I was in the system 3 times,(looking at me like I had something to do with it.) She was going to let me in but the "Manager", she said her name was Iman - what a horrible contradiction, stopped her. Said I would have to pay $21 for a drop in. I only used 3 of my passes. I still have 7 visits left. Why does the pass expire??? Its not food you monkey!!!! You gym is still there. I am still able to use it. Why would they expire??? This is the reason I explained to the staff when I bought them as I can not go on a consistent basis due to my health and a monthly pass would be a waste. They stole $70 from their customer!!!! To the OWNER> You had your chance to make it right when I was in your establishment,. Any attempt to recover face at this point would only weaken your brand and credibility. I suggest you opt out of kissing my butt with an apology. Just give me one good reason that your passes expire.

Staff are not professional, nor does the accounts manager return your calls! I have been getting the run around about my account for months and now not sure if my extra payment was actually put towards my account. Each time I go in I am told I owe $190...when they owe me! No proof can be provided where the money was applied and I doubt they have properly cancelled my membership. I have left messages and have now resorted to ratings on social media. Still have not heard from management in response to my concerns. AVOID this place!

The gym is 24/7 with full commitment to giving members the safe and clean gym especially with this pandemic going on. Front desk people have been so welcoming and very diligent in cleaning the gym! Ive had questions with membership/payments and Branzh have made every concern disappear! Very professional in communication and dealing with customers.

The only reason this is getting 2 stars is because the facility is alright(The temperature inside is crazy, they could use some air conditioning or fans in the summer.... but the machines are pretty nice) , and Jacqui and Jason (personal trainers) are fantastic! But the company itself is absolutely awful. Since the first day I signed up. We signed up for the platinum membership, mainly to get access to the other room. However the tanning and towels were a huge bonus!! However, on numerous occasions we were told by the people at the front desk that tanning wasn't included, or that they had no more towels. You also had to offer collateral for a towel. (My car is not of equal value to this towel.... and I've heard of them losing the keys and cars being stolen) But that does not even break the surface of what is wrong with this company... DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR CREDIT CARD INFO! The day I signed up I gave them my credit card number.. I then decided that I would prefer the money come directly from my bank account so I switched it... this is where my problems began. The person who switched it did not do it correctly, so no money was coming out of my bank account or my credit card. I tried to fix this for weeks! To no luck. SO I had to pay when I came in (no big deal) except for all the "NSF" fees they were also charging me! (Even though it wasn't NSF - it was their fault)... FINALLY, there was a lady named Ashley present one day and as I was explaining my issues to Jacqui - Jacqui told Ashley what was going on and they fixed it!! Money was finally coming out of my bank account.. BUT - it wasn't just coming out in the Friday payments of specified amounts. ($34 for membership and $68 for training) It was coming out on whatever day and whatever amount they seemed fit... I had payments on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays.... of totals from $10 to $215 coming out of my bank account.... When you call Golds Gym they say they cannot help you and transfer you to the "accounting division".. I have been transferred through probably nearly 100 times.. I have never had anyone pick up. And there is no answering machine! It only says to email... so I email. Well, I'll be damned if anyone ever actually answers any emails sent!!!!!! I have had to put a stop payment on Golds Gym, because their random exports of my money is causing other bills to bounce... we'll see if they ever answer me now that they have no access to my bank account? As well, we signed up for 3 months worth of personal training in March... and are STILL paying for it!!! We went in and asked and were told our personal training fees would come out of our accounts until Mid November... It is now mid December and the fees are still coming out of my friends account.. (obviously not mine.. because who knows what is going on there) The only reason I'm making a review is because they seem to answer these more than their emails....

I've been coming to this gym for a year an a half now. Tonight I had the worst experience, I came in to tan. Walked up to the counter and say Hello and was greeted by the girl with dark curly hair working Thursday June 9th at 8pm, who did not say anything back to me or even a smile. I shook it off because everyone has bad days but what got me was when I asked for lay down for 15 minutes and she said Bed 5, all well not making eye contact with me. As I put my hand out to collect my tanning card she dropped it on the counter and turned around. I went to go into bed 5 to which I find someone is in bed 5. By the time I was able to get into the room, I had 2 minutes remaining to put tanning lotion on and clean the bed. Super unprofessional and not helpful at all. After this, I'm cancelling my membership as of tomorrow, this being my reason

EDIT: I already went in privately to speak with the manager yesterday. I explained that someone cut my lock in the women's change room and my car keys, wallet, and car were stolen (along with my prescriptions medications in the car). And asked if there were any way to check the security footage because the night they were stolen the receptionist said the owner had access to the footage on their phone. She said no, it would have to be pulled from somewhere only if the police requested it. Got an email from the constable who is on my case this morning saying she was displeased they haven't recieved the footage yet as it had in fact been requested. Don't know who is lying here. I asked her if she could send out an email about the stolen car. She said no, the email would go to all members around the world. However over the summer I recieved mass emails about different people that were banned as a result of not following gym rules. So I asked what she CAN do. She said she could put a notice up in the gym. So I said okay do that. She said okay. I waited to see if she would ask my car info or even my name, didn't bother, so I left. As well, being the manager she did not offer to replace my key tag even though she knows my keys were stolen. Saying "sorry to hear about that" does not help me, doing the bare minimum like replacing my key tag at least would make it seem that they cared that my LOCKED items were stolen on THEIR property. I'm probably going to have to pay to replace the key tag that again was stolen on their property. Would greatly appreciate if your staff had a refresher on customer service because there is an absolute lack of it.

Was trying out different gyms and what really set Gold’s apart were the MMA classes taught by Dan Juricic. Dan is an extremely knowledgable and passionate martial artist, and an expert teacher. His classes are straight to the point and intense. He makes sure to cater to the needs and skill level of every individual student so that no one is under or over worked beyond their ability. He breaks down every technique so that it is easily understandable and applicable, and his sense of humour always makes it fun to learn. He is truly a master teacher, as he often presents the techniques in a humorous way, ensuring that the student will never forget perfect execution. I decided to get a membership at Gold’s because of Dan’s classes, even though the location is somewhat inconvenient for me compared to other gyms, but have not once regretted my decision. They offer a tonne of different equipment, which makes it easy to get through your workout with minimal delay. The girl at the reception told me that Craig signed me up for the 2 year membership program which i wasnt aware of and to cancel it i had to pay $215 dollars. I said that i wasnt told about this at the time of enrollment. She went to craig and told him i was waiting outside to see him. Craig was wonderful when i was enrolling but now that i went for cancellation, he was very rude and arrogant. He came up to me and said sorry you have to either find someone to transfer your membership or pay the fee. I said but you didnt tell me about this. He said you should feel happy that you dont have to pay $400 like others do to cancel gym membership at other gyms and he WALKED AWAY. I also work in customer service and that not how you treat your customer. It was RIDICULOUS.

Absolute joke of a company. I was told upon signing my contract that there was NO fee to cancel if you were sick (with drs note that you can no longer work out) or if you had moved, with proof of address change. They also told me that if i were to transfer the account to someone else there was NO fee- Fast forward a few months and i moved out of the city so i phoned in for them to cancel my membership, they tell me i need to come in and pay at 200$ fee. I informed them that i moved was told there wasn't a fee for that. They told me i had to come in and sign paper work if that was the case. So! I went into sign my paperwork, they tell me again i have to pay a fee so i explained that i had moved and that i was told there is no fee. As the lady i was talking to left to find the salesmen there was a man standing back there talking about how no one there knows what is happening and was extremely rude about all of the employees working. Threatened to fire the one girl helping me once she returned and goes on about how he cannot understand her accent, then he tells me that he is the owner. Once he learnt i was there to cancel and i tried to explain what i was told about there being no fee and transferring the account he cut me off and starting talking about how i need to learn to read what i sign before i sign it because there is a fee. Then they again told me about transferring to someone else with NO fee. i brought someone in today to transfer the account and they charged me a fee even though i was told there isn't one. This branch gives 'golds' a awful name. i absolutely would never recommend them to anyone, ever.

I do not do reviews, but i must voice what has been going on. the gym is not a horrible place (could be better) My main issue is my membership went out on august 13 and i still get a charge to my card Aug 21st. i called them and i believe someone named "Jackie" picked up. she looked my info up and said "ya you shouldn't have got charged cause your membership was done on the 13th, But you wont be charged again" no money back, no real help. just making sure they take every penny before they lose a member for good. So make sure you check your accounts!!

Don’t sign it is a trap. Just to make it clear the gym itself is very well equipped and accessible however. I was a very unsatisfied with their appealing methodology. During my signing off a contract which is beyond two years now, the agreement was obscure and written in a very small font. Be careful when you’re signing a contract and don’t rely on what the salesman tells you. There we’re few details I did not pay attention to. I signed for two years contract and it turned out that there is about $50 fee which I pay to improve the gym. The problem is not the payment itself but not knowing that it did exist. Also, we are paying monthly fees I assume for using the gym. It is not our responsibility to improve the gym. It’s the management responsibility to improve The gym for us. Saying so I was checking my account and despite that my agreement have finished when my two-year contract is finished I was still paying $50 yearly for the gym improvement. Also during Covid time the gym was closed in the last year and a half almost for nearly 6 to 8 months I kept trying to get a refund for those and I was not able to. I wanted to pause my membership and I was provided with an email. I sent an email however they were in the process of changing a billing company so I did not get a response. I was paying for three months where I was outside the country. Also canceling your membership it’s a big hassle to you need to remember that in order to cancel your membership they need to direct you to a phone number they will not buy any circumstances cancel your membership in the gym. Despite that you did your membership in the gym you cannot pause or cancel your membership from them you need to call a company in the working hours which is very own convenient. I got the number and I gave them a shout so after 15 minutes waiting time in about seven minutes of communicating The issue and the guy listens he finally told me well sir you need to send an email to our company and in a matter of few days we will respond to you with a confirmation. However, despite that your membership Agreement is two years and you are beyond that, you still need to give us a one month advance where will you will be paying full amount of fees before we cancel your membership. I sent an email today and we will wait to hear back from them. I’ve heard a lot about communication issues with this particular gym I did not agree with a lot of it however definitely payment is an issue with them and they will never refund you a dollar. One other issue I had with them is my personal trainer. I assigned for three months personal trainer and I paid the full amount as they ask me. However my personal trainer quit the gym and somehow this was my issue. Instead of refunding me back for the last three sessions remaining they ask me to agree to go with another personal trainer and it wasn’t an option. It’s either you join another trainer or you lost your money. I ended up losing all of my money money. Over or are you recommend you to find some other gym ————— Updates: - until now, three payment was withdrawn from my account since I sent my cancelation request. - a year fee of gym improvement was taken 5 days before I asked for cancellation - cancelation request aug 9th - third payment was taken Sept 7th ( for two weeks) - ( total of 137$ since my cancelation ) and still waiting

Trust me do not join here unless u like being stuck here. There's only one in the city, no towels or paper towels in the washroom so when u wash your face u have to use ur sweaty shirt or toilet paper to wipe ur face. they won't let u transfer your membership if your contract is up. They also won't let you cancel it. They make you write a freaking letter and send it to some company in the u.s oh and it has to be a courier letter from ups and then they will charge you for 3 months before they cancel it, seriously fed up here your taking all these steps to prevent people from cancelling but they cant even transfer if they don't go on contract.

It's never over full and the people here are generally nice and helpful, especially the manager Brittany. She was very easy and nice to work with and after looking at 5 other gym's, Brittany was the reason Me and my friends all joined she is as real as real can get. Very down to earth. They have a lot of equipment and a ton of free weights. All the staff are friendly and go the extra mile for you if they can. Great place and highly recommend.

The worst gym to get a membership with. I might as well as signed my soul to the Devil. I was inticed to go on a 3 year membership and at the time I lived in the area and was not aware that it was the only Gold's gym in the city. Well life happens and I had to move to the other end of the city and learned that there was no gold's in the south side of the city so it being a long distance drive I stopped going. So my membership was coming off of my credit card monthly and kept paying it, and not using it might I add, for over 2 years I gave them free money. My credit card expired and they called my about updating my card info and would not take my information over the phone and inconvenient me to drive over to them and give it in person. So I did has hard as it was knowing that I am just giving them free money for a service I was not using. Then a couple months later they call me for the information again as I was just there not too long ago a gave them my up dated card information and again they wouldn't take my info over they phone. As far as I'm concerned they screwed up and now they are sending collections after me. Seems to me they are desperate for your money and once they lock you in they will squeeze every penny out of you. Never again will I make this huge mistake again.

My friends and I had a horrible experience here, we were all under 18 at the time but the nice Asian guy allowed us to use the facility for one day because we had passes. In exchanged we had to give our phone numbers as well as a friends. But then, a stuck up lady manager questioned the nice Asian guys decision and then we were denied entry to the gym, they also kept the list of numbers and names that we gave them. Now my friends and I are getting text messages from Golds gym even though we were treated poorly by the lady manager, they denied our entry and now they are using the numbers we provided them for promotions, I feel we were taken advantage and golds should give us all free memberships for a year. Whoever that lady manager was should be fired for being so uptight and the Asian guy should be promoted to CEO or should be the mascot for the gym.

I transferred my account months ago due to an accident I was in. I’ve had to come in person multiple times, and was told my account was transferred and cancelled. Tim the GM I spoke with said “ok your account is cancelled for sure now” Now I’m still getting charged AGAIN and have not been refunded. I’m not one to leave reviews but the service has been absolutely awful. They owe me over $100 and I’ve not been to this facility in months. The other person is still using the gym and getting charged as well. I’m not sure why it’s such a hard job to properly transfer a cancel account, or if they just want to keep collecting money for me. Either way poor service and communication.

Equipment is excellent, facility is great. However the bathrooms is an issue an always carries a foul odour alongside with the stalls being out of service consistently. Second is the sauna room. Which half the people don’t follow the rules there, which should be in forced. Constantly men walking naked around in there while there shaving. FYI. Please do not right a response back as we all know nothing will be looked into or nor any membership termination will ever be handled. It’s bad hygiene and there should be some swift action taken. Unfortunately we all know this will never happen.

I’ve been a member of Golds Gym for about 4 years & the customer service has been great; however for the past year I have been interacting with Jesus at the front desk of Golds Gym Northgate and he exceeds the definition of ‘customer service’. Jesus will always greet every member by their name and always with a smile. Moreover, he will come up to me during my workouts and seeks to find out if my workout is going well and if he can be of any help. Dan the martial arts trainer is phenomenal. Although a group training session, Dan trains on personal level and pays attention to each individual really well. If I could give Dan 7 stars I would. However...After being a member for a year I have to drop a star. We need new bags in the MMA room ASAP, and they've been all beat up and chains broken since I've started using the room 6 months ago. Also steam room... was a huge reason and selling point of why i joined this gym, but if i had a dollar, hell even a quarter for every time it broke down I'd be a millionaire. It's not so much a breaking issue as it is how long it takes to fix things. Also, Keiser bikes... there were so many and now down to 2. 1 in Platinum room and 1 on main floor. Both broken and don't hold gears you want. You gonna take enhancement fees, well then enhance -_-

I joined the gym instantly based on my friends opinion. The gym itself is nice. However I just brought in my boss today to try out the gym. We walked into the gym cheerful and happy until we spoke to the General Manager... she was very rude (her name was probably Karen)... she denied us paying a drop in fee or even having a free trial to check out the gym. She attempted to pressure us in to purchasing a one year or two year membership on a payment plan. She treated us as if we were poor even though we drove in with a $100,000 ride.... Honestly if I didn’t get locked in to a membership here I would never return to any golds gym in the city based on her customer service! I bet I’ll get suspended just for voicing my opinion......

I’ve been going to Golds Northgate for 4 months now and it has been a very positive part of my daily routine. Other members are polite and friendly so sharing equipment is never a problem. I also have been seeing a trainer every two weeks and I can’t imagine now going to the gym without that being part of my routine! Chris Baldwin has helped me lose 18 lbs of fat and increase my muscle tone significantly! I did have to push myself to go 4 days a week when I first joined, but now I look forward to going and it’s pretty disappointing if I can’t go. Overall I definitely recommend Golds Northgate as a place to work out, and if you join, get hooked up with Chris for some sessions. You won’t regret it!????

They try to make you jump through loop holes for a basic cancelation but when it comes to taking funds it’s like night and day. You need to call a third party company which in return tells you to email them after being on hold. “This is the procedure set by the gym” which was said by the third party company so in other words they just want you to become very discouraged by trying to do a simple cancelation. For a gym that boasts they have great facilities but doesn’t even have a simple infrastructure to process a cancelation is a joke. Also I been with this gym for over 5 years they don’t give you anything as a loyal customer, they never lowered my monthly after my contract finished they say they give you referral bonuses but you have to hound the sales rep to add it to your account. This whole place is a circus! Otherwise the equipment is great!

Had an amazing experience at golds gym today with the amazing front desk lady Jackie! Not only does she remember my name, but she pays attention to detail. She greeted me with a smile and I was already logged in. Before the gyms were closed, she always had a platinum key in her hand waiting for me when she saw me walking through the door. I always look forward to coming on the weekends because Jackie always takes care of me. She’s a blast to be around, has fun while working, and always has something funny to say! I love her humour and am so blessed she’s working for golds. She brings a smile to my face and keeps me in a positive mood! Keep being you!

If I could give zero stars I would. We understand that with covid things are different, but instead of solving our problem by selling me a membership, after we had driven 30min out of our way to work out at the facility- she said "I guess u have to go home, or he can work out but not you" Would never purchase anything from that sloppy snotty brat. Great facility with even greater trainers. 2 trainers named Jacqui Filgate and Brandon really stepped up and have helped me thoroughly in my weight lifting, going above and beyond what a regular trainer would do. You wont find fitness trainers or a gym like this anywhere else !

I was extremely displeased with the two evening desk staff. They are extremely rude and seem not to care about customer service. They have a system where you write your number down and wait for them.to call you which is fine but 2 times out of the 3 times I have been here they didn't call me and acted like I was lying about having my number on the list. It is a fine facility with a lot of equipment. The equipment is fairly modern and welll taken care of. This facility does blast terrible dance music @ an obnoxious volume. They seem to cycle through staff frequently. I tried to quit after my year was up just for a change of scenery. They FORGED A NEW CONTRACT to extend me beyond a year. To quit, I was told I had to send a registered letter to their head office and wait 3 months to have my cancellation approved. I sent the letter, but ultimately, I had to go in and stop payments @ my bank to get them to stop stealing from me. They sent my file to a collection agency. The collection agency stopped bothering me when I gave them a police report number related to a forged contract. Golds gym goes beyond being criminal.

Worst customer service I've ever seen. Customer service employees choose to end calls and to leave you on hold for 15 minutes and counting just to check billing information. On top of that, I have had an employee flat out end a call mid discussion. Can't even do that right. The annual fees and equipment fees are bull and when signing up, they share their Terms of Service on a small screen where the space for your signature takes up half of the screen. Literally choose any other gym than these bozos. Old equipment with rips and missing weight pins too, clearly not using the equipment fees they are charging everyone. Nothing ticks me off more than scummy businesses like this one. Absolutely putrid. Will never go with any ABC owned branch.

The worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life. Me and my buddies work out here and I found one of the guys at the front desk was so racist, rude and treated us differently. We tried to ask what his problem was but rather than addressing the problem he just got even more rude. I think his name is “branz”. When you are selling the membership its all sweet and nice the minute we get the membership- you get so rude and told to get out! Overall equipment is good but the negativity and the rude behaviour that we encounter up front kills the vibe.

My actual name is Andrew, I'm a real person. I was a member of Golds gym for a few months before I had to terminate our contract due to a change in my living situation. During the time I was there I noticed the gym, and it's equipment, were impressive and offered any kind of training materials you could require for your fitness needs including: functional fitness, martial arts equipment, a pool, and a sauna in addition to the standard weights and powerlifting. The staff were super friendly and the gym was clean. I see there are a lot of reviews on here about how Gold's gym acts unfairly or makes charges to your account that don't make sense. I can assure you that the frustration those reviewers felt are NOT a fair reflection of Golds Gym's business practices. They are a very reasonable company and are more than willing to work with you if you have any kind of problems. Tim and the team at Golds gym at Northgate were extremely helpful when I was having problems with my membership. Dealing with a payment processor can be difficult and lead to a game of broken telephone sometimes, but as soon as my concerns were raised, Tim ensured those concerns were corrected instantly right in front of me. If you notice any unusual charges or are having any kind of concerns with your membership, my advice to you is to go in personally and speak with one of the staff members there. They will do everything in their power to help you. Just be patient and polite, and they will ensure you are a happy customer. I strongly recommend Golds Gym to anyone who wants to work out at a professional, top-tier gym. Secure those gains!!

DON'T SIGN UP WITH GOLDS! These guys are theives. It costs 200$ plus 90 days notice plus tax to cancel your membership. That's almost 500$ to cancel. They were over charging my account from the first day. The customer service is horrible and they they weren't forthright with telling me how much it would cost to cancel. Be careful when asking questions for a membership. They lie on the hours of fitness group, they lie on the contract term of 2 years and they lie on cross fit session which are not cross fit. It's called FAST FIT and it is nothing similar to cross fit. When you want to camel a membership, they make you pay an extra 200$ plus 3 months of membership even if they lied to make a sell.

Despite what people may think, Golds Gym is actually a great facility. I've had memberships at other conventional gyms before and I haven't liked any of them as much as I like Golds. The power racks are by far the best part of the facility, they have great equipment and new machines to try out and the workers are always so friendly.

Finally first day back at the gym, gym nice and clean well maintained as well. Cleaning staff all the time in the gym as well, lots of cleaning material to clean the equipment after ur done working out on the equipment. Staff ensuring everyone following covid protocols, doing great job overall.

They offer a tonne of different equipment, which makes it easy to get through your workout with minimal delay. He’s extremely informative and really makes you work hard, but I still really enjoy my workouts. I noticed you have a couple reviews where a martial arts guy Dan Juricic is praised, so when I see the guy has reviewed the gym himself, I clicked on his profile. Its one thing to leave your own employer a glowing review (and the owner responds saying thank you like he is a client) but leaving a negative review for a competitor and telling their potential clients to come to Golds? Sleazy.

Terrible experience, if I could give 0 stars I would. I was a member for around a year at which point I went in to cancel as there was another gym closer to me. I was told that my account had been canceled and that was the last I heard of it. Now, more than a year later they are trying to claim that I never canceled and that I owe them for the last year. Worse yet I actually know of 2 other people that this has happened to. Do not give this company your money.

No Own Experience, but I am writing this to thank the people of Calgary for their Golds Gym Reviews. It's unfortunate to still see these big companies taking advantage of us consumers just to line their pockets. But thankfully, because of soo many bad reviews from normal every day people (and not the 5* employees/free t-shirt winner reviews) I won't ever be going to this gym. It's one thing to tell consumers that they won't have to pay any fees to cancel and turn around and charge them a month fee, but to charge some people of upwards of 2500$ to cancel, when there is nothing stated in your contract about a single fee, is absolutely ridiculous. Not to mention, sales people/Employees that have no idea how the contract works or what is included in each package, forcing people into auto renewal, or singing them up for what is discussed as a 1 year contract but it turns out is actually 3. If your current customers are obviously this unhappy, then any new customer should heed these warnings as serious and stay away. No one deserves to be treated like this when they're just trying to improve on their personal health.
