It gets really busy on rainy days, especially the climbing wall. That said the wall is pretty huge, loads of options and a good difficulty curve. Having used a much shorter wall that focused on technicality the long climbs here were a fresh challenge, more strength and endurance required.

Elevation Place is so awesome as an everyday workout place. My husband and I try to make it there 4-5 times a week and hit the climbing wall. After that we usually go for a swim or atleast to chill in the hot tub. It's been a great way for us to stay fit but while having fun together by climbing. We took their belay course, and now we are there all the time climbing together and learning new things. Sometimes we just go for the coffee at good earth and watch people climb to get a better perspective on the skill. It's our favourite date place.

Nice facility, not tourist friendly though, no towel rentals but they will sell you a tiny towel for $8.00! For a family of 5 stopping in that’s a bit rich only for the towels to be discarded in garbage.

The worst $16 I have ever spent. Lockers and locker room were filthy. The weight room is limited at best as is the cardio room. The etiquette of the “gym” is non existent. I’m almost tempted to ask for a refund!!!

Affordable & Fun! Easily the best community centre I have ever been to. It is very affordable to access the facilities, and makes for a great rainy-day activity in Canmore. The rock climbing walls tower in the centre of the building, and there is a beautiful glass viewing area. The pool is clean & has a lazy river too!! There is also a library on site!!

We don't understand how a new facility can close its aquatic centre due to air quality concerns. We also feel that the art gallery could improve, offering more pieces and expanding on selection. It is a stunning building with incredible climbing walls.

The climbing routes are indicated with colour coded holds. There is no tape on the walls. It is easy to see a route and identify it's holds. There are over 40 ropes. Routes of varying difficulty are mostly spread out. Most walls slope outward a bit but a section by the window slopes inward. The layout is open and lets in a lot of natural light. This also lets people watch from outside the climbing area. There are 7 auto-belays. When I was there it was a busy day (due to no school) so people were taking turns on the more beginner routes. There is a fair amount of wall space for bouldering. The roped walls also have a painted line indicating how high you can climb on them without a rope. There are four main walls that run in parallel. It's possible to bump into another person belaying behind you.

It's decent, the change rooms are a mess, the pools is constantly filthy, the weight room is minimal, and the equipment in the cardio room is always broken. Other then that free Wi-Fi is always good

after paying and checking in we would have to pay additional fees for the climbing test. This was unfriendly and not mentioned at the front desk. Luckily (1 star for that) they refunded the entrance fee.

The Elevation Place in Canmore is a great recreational facility. There are many fun, challenging rock walls with difficulties of all kinds, and an excellent swimming area with multiple pools, a water slide, and a hot tub and a sauna. The facility is very well maintained, and it is definitely a good place to take your family to spend the day there.

On a gray smoky day I was looking for places to hangout inside and enjoy some AC. At first the building itself attracted me as it's looking very nice, well i was in for a treat once i got in! This place is a well thought architectural project (+LEED silver) I got to stroll around and enjoy some quiet time at the library, as a visitor no question asked I just did my thing. Then i spend the rest of the afternoon at the climbing gym, cool walls with a nice set of boulders problems. A good range of styles and difficulty, as an avid indoor climber I had a blast and some very challenging routes too. Grades are closer to outdoor then most indoor gyms i've been to.

Great pool for lane swimming, large kids pool area & hot tub. The weight room is quite small & feels crowded with more than a dozen people in it. The multi-purpose rooms with stationary bikes & treadmills seem to be an after thought. Would go again for swimming but not for cardo/weights.

I like the pool area. It has a large hot tub, a steam room, a lazy river, a slide and a good sized main pool. It's also nice that you can get a coffee and have a place to wait in the same building when you're done and see the climbers at work at the same time.

Great spot to spend some time with the family. We spent a couple of hours on the climbing walls. This area offers a number of options including bouldering and climbing with a belayer or with an auto belayer. Lots of space and helpful staff to go around. We then spent a couple hours in the pool. A water slide, lazy river, hot tub and basketball hoop kept us busy enough that we didn't realize hot much time had passed. Great change rooms including a nice family change area. Much more to do including checking out the gym, library and art gallery that we didn't get to...

The facilities here are really modern and clean. The only problem, the bouldering wall is small and the gym again, is just small. For the size of the building I wasn't expecting some parts to be that cramped.

Unbelievable facility, would love to have a cookie cutter replica at home. We checked out the pool, salt water pool with loads of lanes for swimming, a great lazy river and combo kids swim area, spray area and slide. Loads of stuff, well designed pool. Facilities are are super clean and modern version well done apart from the warning signs on one set of showers that you are visible from the pool so keep those suits on... Hope they solve that. The climbing facilities look amazing, gym, yoga studio and cardio all looked about the right size and having the library too makes for a fantastic facility all under one roof. Kudos to Canmore on this rec center, would highly recommend checking it out!

Beautiful wood and stone interior with a platform overlooking the climbing walls. Has bouldering problems and campus boards in a training area near the back windows. Bring your own belay device for roped climbs. Cardio area of gym overlooks climbing wall and there's a nice coffee shop in the foyer. Seems like this building is a hub for the community and it is a very social space.

Lazy river! The kids loved this place, the kids area is quite big, they shut down a bunch of the swimming lanes and put out a dozen giant floats for the kids. The hot tub easily fits 25+ people. We didn't try but there is also a popular wall climbing section as well. The location is good being right at the entrance to canmore.

Good place to climb and swim. The weight room was pretty disappointing for the price you pay per month. I expected it to be much bigger, but it didn't have much. The aerobics room was nice and had lots of fans to keep you cool, but a broken sink. Must not be finished? Nice staff. I wish they offered a free day trial pass so you can see if you like it before you pay.

A day pass give us access to the rock cimbing wall, the pool and the gym. We found that the frond desk worker at the moment that we were there did not help us much. Other employees were able to help us. The rock climbing place doesn't accept kids under 4. So we took our youngest to the child minding. The 2 educators were amazing. The rock climbing was a lot a fun for our 2 oldest child. We were all excited to end our adventure at the pool. The changing room were clean and family friendly. We will come again during our vacation to Canmore.

Great facility but busy. Inside the facility is a climbing gym, art gallery, child minding centre, library, weight rooms, specialty fitness rooms and a huge area with a pool. Downside is the facility becomes basically useless when wildfire smoke is in the area. Not a bad spot to stop with a family dying an off day on vacation.

A really cool, well maintained and modern rec center. The climbing wall is awesome and features a bouldering wall, top and lead rope walls, and auto belays. The pool is also fun and there are always a lot of pool toys and a waterslide available making it very fun for kids.

Good routes, cool place. Didn't get to do any TR/lead but they have some tall walls, and 7 auto belays, which were eventually overrun with kids. Pool/showers included with a day pass, which was relatively cheap compared to other gyms

I can definitely see why it was so busy and so many people rock climb. Great setup and very easy to use/learn. Family loved it, my 5 year old daughter climbed up to the very top for her first time. So she was very comfortable there. Swimming pool is very nice and very well maintained, kids had fun on the giant slide and in the rest of the pool. Highly recommend checking this place out, prices are very affordable and worth it. As we had all day access to both swimming and climbing, and from what I understand there is more there which we didn't have time to checkout!

Stopped while we were driving through town to eat dinner there and let our kids run around. WHY WAS THE COFFEE SHOP CLOSED?!?!?!? There were tons of people milling around visiting, reading, working, exercising, etc. It seems like simple thing to have the coffee kiosk open for the majority of the time that the facility is open. Very disappointed. (I'll admit I only gave three stars because of this. Maybe when I'm less upset I'll come back and change it.)

Amazing experience! My hubby and I finally got to try rock climbing and it's a wonderful experience. Great workout with informative staff. We then went to have a nice swim and the pool and slide were great with lots of room to swim as well as designated swimming lanes. The only down side of this is we used the family change room, and they only have two open view showers, so you'll have to wait for your turn. Besides that, everything was a great experience.

Really really great Rec center with so many nice workers! I forgot a lock for my locker and I'm from the States and only had American money so I couldn't buy a locker. They were so nice and let us have a locker so we could stay and swim for a few hours. And THEY HAVE FREE WIFI!

This facility tries to be something for everyone, and not doing any of it well in regards to the wellness facility (I cant speak to the library or the gallery). The fitness areas seem like an afterthought - full of outdated (and small amounts) of equipment and limited space. The separate rooms for cardio equipment are not adequate for the amount they charge. The climbing area feels crammed, only a line on the floor separating bouldering and lead climbing. We went swimming in the lane pool, I was surprised at how cold the water was - although my body did get used to it after a few laps. However, a limit of 25 patrons in the hot tub seems a little ridiculous (don't get me started on the line-up of people waiting to enter and the lifeguard patrolling it like a policeman). This is a new facility, surely a little foethought and planning should have gone into a facility that caters to a plethora of residents and tourists alike.

An impressive fitness / recreation center. Has indoor rock climbing, swimming, and gym equipment all in the same building. Rates seemed extremely affordable, especially for the family rate. The lap pool and sauna are nicely sized and the waterslide is fun, even for an adult. The kids' area is smaller than I expected from the website description, but it can still be fun for kids. No towels available for rent, so make sure you bring one with you if you're going swimming.

Great activities complex. Huge inside climbing wall with many different difficulties and is a great place to go for beginners or experts. The pool is also very big and has many lanes for swimming. They also have a water slide and a "kiddie" pool with a play structure and bucket for the kids. They have a library filled with many books and is a great place to do any work and there is access to many tools there. There is an art gallery next to the library. There is a Good Earth cafe next to the climbing wall which is very nice on a cold day. They also have a weights gym and a cardio room with a lot of equipment to help everyone.

Nice facility for sports and wellness, especially for indoor climbing! Never seen so many belay ropes going at once than at this climbing gym, respect! Pool could be great for the kids with hot tub near the wading pool but needs improvements. UPDATE - Negative aspects: Ventilation issues causing the main hot tub to be down for weeks, (Too much chlorine in the air or something bizarre for a new place) weird age restrictions on the steam room at 18+, and over-zealous pool staff harassing parents to keep within reach of young ones in knee deep water! Let's bring it down a notch people! Likely was our last visit due to the lack of Hot tub use, cold breezy air, and cold pool water causing kids to have blue lips! They really need to get the mechanical issues sorted out soon and have reasonable temperatures for all ages of pool users. A LOT of room for improvement at the pool.

Edit: when you have one climbing fanatic who is 8 and only wants the wall, you still have to pay for the adult supervisors for full facilities. I know why but there has to be a better way. We got to the pool 30 minutes after it opened and were put on a waitlist. We had to leave after my 3 year old and 5 year old waited 1 hour and 40 minutes without getting in. They let two hockey teams and a birthday party in who had prebooked before us. If they had told us that three parties were going to be coming during our wait, we could have made other plans for our day.

Cool place. I would have given them 5 stars but the whole Covid protocols in this place really knocked it down to a 3. My spouse couldn't watch my daughter and I climb from an upper viewing area which I thought was a little ridiculous. All the water fountains were closed. The pool was also closed due to Covid which looked like a pretty fun. I'm sure during normal circumstances it is awesome.

Pool and gym: excellent, 5 stars Climbing: 3 stars - looks cool from the outside but on a busy day, it's incredibly tight. I felt very unsafe bouldering because the fall zone is also where people are belaying and walking. The people on autobelays sometimes also fall right into the walking/belaying zone. All top rope climbs regardless of incline require the rope to be clipped into the draws which is a huge pain on the way up. Pros include decent variety of climbing grades and clean gym.

Heck, take a couple trips down the water slide yourself! This facility is brand new and proudly environmentally friendly. Cooled and heated geothermally is only the start, even the toilet water comes from the pool filter back flush!

Recently moved to Canmore from Calgary and was looking forward to making the most of the facilities. I'm hugely disappointed, mainly because the changing facilities are totally inadequate considering this place cost $40 million. Clearly little to no thought was given to space requirement and general comfort when the changing rooms were designed. Too few showers, with crappy, cheap curtains and shower heads that dribble out water ... The space, overall is cramped with very little seating for changing purposes and what I find absolutely astounding, is that there isn't even a costume spinner/dryer??? Over night tote boxes would also be highly appreciated. The website needs to be seriously updated in order to provide its patrons with the information they require. I love to swim and especially at a more quieter time of the day - so often I arrive and there are hordes of school kids taking swim lessons etc, which is fine - JUST FRIGGING POST IT! As someone who is used to the very high standards offered by Calgary YMCA memberships, could the manager kindly make a note of these recommendations - it's not rocket science!!

Went to climb here for the first time and it was wildly expensive for drop in. After I payed for my drop in fee I had to pay AGAIN for a belay test. I've never been to a gym that's more of a money grab. Would not reccomend for the casual climber.

Went for the climbing and it was a very nice experience. The staff were really nice and gave a good run down of the facilities, as I was visiting from out of town. The bouldering was a fun time; they had just had a competition so the routes were challenging but in a way that was exciting. I am a big fan of the autobelay setup in place, which provides a great variety of routes in all grades. I didn't have a partner this particular trip, but was still able to have a really good time even on my own.

This place is basically a homeless shelter with all the people living in vans using it as their personal bathrooms, showers and living quarters during the day. The change rooms are disgusting and rarely cleaned. The gym is small with old equipment, always dirty and very busy. The pool floor and steam room are disgusting. The only good thing here is the climbing gym and the library.

Coin lockers but can not add a Lonnie to your transaction. 3rd. Swimming hours are so limited 4. Huge hot tub, but maximum number of people allowed is extremely limited, I realize there is regulations for this, however someone failed in the planning of this.

It was nice to be able to take my family here for our family Christmas activity. My sister has 5 kids, and the price is unbeatable for an activity with them. It is a beautiful building, kept clean, and the staff are helpful. The lady that helped us at the desk, explained the options to us so patiently and answered all our questions about which would be the most affordable option... my 2 nieces wanted to climb. This may become a new Christmas tradition for us.

Very nice facility. Aquatics area is well laid out and had an area for everyone. Nice sized kids area, water slide, lazy river and steam room. Family change rooms are roomy and clean. The price is very reasonable as well for a family. The only issue we had was, we planned our visit during “family swim” as we have 2 kids. We cams to find out that “family swim” means the waterslide and the water on the kids splash structure are not on. Seems weird to me. For reference, the full aquatics facility is functional during “public swim” Perhaps consider a renaming of the time to “tots swim” is more clear as it seems that is more who this time is geared for. It should be noted that we all still really enjoyed our time here without those features being open. Overall I think it’s a great facility with attentive and genuinely nice lifeguards. Next time we will explore more of the offerings here.

Large, fully featured, modern rec center with a climbing gym included. Great place to spend the day if the weather isn't in your favor! Enjoy a good climbing session, grab a snack, and then soak your muscles in the hot tub one room over. The climbing wall gets busy in the evenings but the way they have the wall set up is unique but (clipping draws up and down) allows for people to climb safely in relatively close proximity.

We like to go here every time we're in Canmore because our kids love to go swimming. But even though we go the recent experiences haven't been that great. I've found a few of the life guards a little excessively power tripping. This latest time it was my daughters first time ever in a pool so I brought my gopro and the first picture I took, a selfie of me and my daughter in the pool, the life guard came over to tell me to ensure I was only taking pictures of my own family. The kids aren't allowed to use boogie boards even though they were using them properly to swim back and forth across the pool. The life guard came and took them away saying they are needed for the lane swimmers only to just put them away. The hot tub is regularly at it's limit of 25 ppl so they won't let you in despite lots of available space. It's disappointing that our 4 year old boy isn't able to ride the slide when the hotel slide goes into a deep pool and this one lands in a trough. Most of the kids area features don't typically seem to be in use (big dump bucket and other spray features). Only some of the family change rooms have a change table. Parking is pretty tough to find. The climbing wall has always been crazy busy. I do find the pricing reasonable and the lazy river is a fun feature. Some of the lifeguards are great.

This is an amazing spot to visit with a family. The pool is amazing. It has some many different cool parts. From the lazy river, to the giant water slide to the huge hot tub and steam room. You can’t go wrong. They also have some mini slides and splash area for little ones. They have life jackets to borrow and swim diapers to rent. It’s such a well organised spot. The Canmore library is in the same building, along with an incredible rock climbing wall. There is tons of free parking and it’s very close to down town.

Unfortunately there is no swimming pool for the month of September as they are doing their yearly cleaning and maintenance. The lap pool has water in it but you can't swim in it. Lock rooms are being cleaned and updated too.

Recently cancelled my membership here. Change rooms are digusting - hair and mud all over the floors as they only clean them once a day. All the van dwellers that camp in the parking lot take up all the spots so it's hard to find parking at peak hours. The dwellers also use the facilities and hang out there during the day so the place is basically a homeless shelter. Climbing gym is very small and always busy. Gym seemed like an afterthought as the equipment is very dirty and you have to use a wet rag to clean the equipment so it is also unsanitary. Town of Canmore needs to do something or their membership sales from residents will continue to decline. Go to the Anytime Fitness, much better facilities!

The rock climbing was excellent, the kids had a great time. Pool looked good except someone left a present in there so we couldn't go in.

Amazing place with every thing. Gym, pool, climbing wall, library, coffee shop, washrooms , waterslide, hot tub and wow. Must visit.
