Ugh. Had chowder that was just ok - one piece of garlic toast was soggy?? How does that happen? The spoon that was served in my coffee had dried food stuck all over it (likely came from the dishwasher that way), my friends glass had lipstick on it, the floor under our table desperately needed a vacuuming, and the salt and pepper shakers had ketchup and other grime all over them. Gross! But I gave it 2 stars because previous meals here have been above average and the deck is nice in the summer.

Amazing food, and experience! Cant say enough about the wonderful staff, and especially the talents of staff working in the kitchen. It is the best place to eat in all of Mill Bay, Shawnigan Lake, and Cobble Hill area hands down! Highly recommend their breakfasts.

Total Joke. The course is a burnt out mess. All the fairways are brown and in disrepair. We were a twosome, caught up to the group in front who were all members and they apologized to us. New owners no nothing of running a golf course. They closed the Restaurant at 2 pm and no cart service either as the owners were having a function at 7 pm, on a Friday even though they had a full course of players. We wanted food before our round so had to go elsewhere. Don't waste your money go to Olympic View or Cordova Bay, way better golf and service.

Fantastic course, built within a resort community. Challenging for sure but the fairways are forgiving. The 90 degree dogleg right can be a peach but you'll figure it out.

I was very disappointed with the Roast Beef dinner last Thursday evening. I ordered it medium rare and it came well done and very tough. She replaced the meat with another piece which was tender but still well done. I am assuming from the time it took to be replaced they are not actually cooking a roast but maybe cooking each piece of meat separately in a microwave or some other appliance. When we went there a number of months ago it was the very best I had ever had there but now the worst. It would be nice if it was consistently good. I will never order that again!

Super nice daily fee golf course. Hole 17 from the Blues a bit too much with a wind but lovely track. Great clubhouse and views over the valley.

Well maintained course with some gorgeous Vancouver Island views along the way. The holes were challenging but fun. Slim and the rest of the staff were incredibly friendly, as were the local residents. Overall, it was a great experience and I will play here again.

Used to play Arbutus Ridge regularly when we lived on Vancouver Island and now play it at least once a year. Love the signature 17th Par 3 over the water and the 18th is arguably one of the best finishing holes on the Island!. Course condition is excellent and the service superb! We took the family for Mother's Day brunch annually as the food (and chocolate fountain) are devine and we love the view of the Satellite Channel. Their Halibut Burger is to die for if you are lucky enough to find it on their fresh seasonal menu! Our kids have done the Golf and Tennis Camps in the summer as well - very cool program, as is their weekly Junior nights! All in all - Arbutus Ridge gets 5 stars from us and a definite must play vote as one of the best golf courses to play when staying in Victoria or the Cowichan valley area!

Played Arbutus Ridge this past week and had a great experience. Greens were in spectacular shape and the beverage cart made many needed appearances to keep our thirst quenched on the hot, sunny Vancouver Island day. Will be back for sure.

Great course. Good challenge, without being daunting or discouraging. Offers some nice views. Practise range and practise putt are so-so, but the club house is great, the staff are fantastic and the grounds nice. One of my more common golfing stops. Dont miss a round if your in town and want to tey a handful of games. The price of play is quite good and the food is great. Ive also been for a wedding and the venue is very suitable for such!

Great course. It was a bit weird when our tee time got bumped for the owners friends though, but wasn't a huge deal until 15 when a guy and 2 kids joined them and they were pretty slow. I'd recommend you ask your friends to make times. Good prices and friendly staff though!

My buddy and I have had lunch at the clubhouse weekly for years. The staff is great, the food is great, the view is great. Relaxed, comfortable ambience for conversation or a beer after a round of golf.

Great views, relaxed atmosphere, good food and very reasonable prices. What's not to like? It can take a while to get your bill on a busy day but then you can just walk up to the bar when you are ready to leave. Decor is plain but then the view is what matters. Looks like the perfect spot to host a wedding or golf tournament.

The Satellite Grill at Arbutus Ridge is one of the hidden gems of this area. Sure, it's a great spot to take in a breathtaking view over a drink/snack after a round on the course. But the quality of the food itself, even if it weren't attached to a golf course, makes the Satellite Grill one of the best casual dining restaurants in the Cowichan Valley. The burger, in particular, is an award-winner in my book.

We were visiting from Vancouver, and Arbutus Ridge was recommended for dinner. We were told that both management and the menu were new, and found both to be wonderful. The view over the golf course and onward to Saltspring Island was lovely at sunset, and the Satellite Grill is a nice cozy room. Staff are friendly and attentive. I had braised short ribs. The sauce was bold and tasty, and the meat fell off the bone. The accompanying vegetables were very nice. My partner had the salmon, and was equally impressed. If you're in the area and want a nice, reasonably priced meal, Arbutus Ridge is is just a quick jog off the highway and easy to find. Recommended!

Always a nice place to come for a brew and some great food after a golf game or just a nice restaurant to visit if you're not golfing and want to see the amazing views of the Cowchan Valley from their covered patio area.

Beautiful course with very nice scenery and views. The overall layout is simple, not overly challenging, but definitely enjoyable to play. Biggest disappointment is very sparse grass on many holes throughout the course - unsure why, but the greens were in fine shape. A good course for all levels of skill. Nice clubhouse with incredible views off the Deck.

Greens and fairways were in great shape following the previous day’s downpour. Great condition for early November. Pro shop staff we’re great to work with since the internet was down and unable to complete transactions before the round. Restaurant met our needs as well.

Played here today, what a shame, I’m so disappointed. This place used to be great, it certainly isn’t any longer. Fairways are a mess of burnt out grass and dirt, bunkers full of weeds and hard like rocks. The greens are nice, very fast, but they look like the lunar surface! They have no beverage service on the course, but they don’t tell you that, and the cafe is never open. Their vending machine on the 14th hole only takes coins. I used to really enjoy going here, but quite frankly, I won’t be back.

Friendly staff, good golf course with challenging holes. It's not a long golf course so high handicap players can feel comfortable. When other courses in Victoria are full, players can always get a tee time at Arbutus Ridge.

Nice course, challenging, but the houses being just yards away is a bit of a nuisance. Resident picked up our ball because it landed and rolled just to the perimeter of their yard. Also received less than stellar service in the clubhouse when checking in for our tee time, four golfers and they rang up 4 separate carts before correcting the staff. They seemed less than impressed that we were using passes that I had received as a gift from my parents (used within the restricted times printed). We still purchased merchandise and food and beverage from the course. Ok experience. Cannot say I recommend based on this visit.

Great fun course 30min drive up north of Victoria. Staff are friendly and the restaurant serves delicious food (recommend beef dip). Course is surrounded by houses, fairways are narrow and greens are difficult. Don't be fool by shorter distance!

My wife and I have been dining at the Satellite Bar and Grill (formerly known as Arbutus Ridge Restaurant) for more than 25 years. The last 10 years at least 3 times a week. The Food Quality, Service and Hospitality are all beyond reproach! Besides, the views of the Golf Course and the Ocean are stunning. The above negative comments are 100% unfounded and ridiculous.

The cooking area is filthy with old food and grease on and under the equipment.Before eating here ask to see for yourself.We performed work for the restaurant,reported the problem to the manager Jason Lowe who then refused to pay for valid services and was rude.He then posted a false and defamatory review for our service. We strongly urge any who consider eating here to inspect the kitchen and check the facts for themselves.

Well I realize this course had some water problems when we played, the staff were great and the course played amazingly well. The greens were immaculate and very fast and protected the course at 6100 yd. You won't be bombing driver on all the holes and don't be fooled by the first four holes. Thank you to the staff for a great time.

Very dissapointing .....Had lunch there 2 weeks ago ....worst fries ever had ....appetizer was brought to the table same time as our meals... By the time we ate our appetizers ...our meals were stone cold ....brought this up to the manager who told me hope its better next time ....yea like there will be a next time.....not only will I not be eating there again but will now be looking for a new golf venue ...

Amazing course, have only been playing golf for a short while and found the course a bit challenging but the staff was excellent, the course was excellent, the food cart lady was the nicest person ever, and to tip it all off a courtesy car at the 18th hole to get back to the clubhouse after walking 18 holes. All and all a great day.

This course is in horrendous condition. It is not worth half of what they charge for a round. Along with the burnt out grass the overall aspects of the course show total lack of care. Management will respond by blaming the hot conditions but this is just a baseless excuse to offer a poor product and experience.

Asked for a glass of PINOT GRIGIO and was served PINOT GRIS, horrible wine. Maybe the staff need a lesson on the types of wine you do serve. Not impressed at all. Won't be back.

Tight course, with hard fast greens. Deceptively difficult given its short length. Errant tee shots will be heavily punished on many holes. Plays though the hills in an interesting setting.

We had our wedding at Arbutus Ridge and we definitely made the right choice! The view from the restaurant is beautiful! Mike Brown, the event coordinator, provided an amazing service! He communicated at all times, was very organized (even during a pandemic!), and made sure everything was perfect for the wedding day. The rest of the restaurant staff were also very kind! The food was AMAZING too. Also, it was easy to plan our wedding with Arbutus Ridge because they made everything work (under their control) so that we could still have our (small) wedding during COVID19. We definitely recommend this as a venue for other couples
