Destroyer is a long course with some good variations but most homes are just straight and long. Cruiser is a fun executive with a few short par 4s that you don't need a driver for. Cost for either is reasonable.

We took nearly 5 hours to get through 13 holes constantly waiting to play behind slow groups. Had to leave early because the sun went down. 2:45 tee time and we couldn't get through 18...

Great course for the price (if you are AD or a veteran). The 18 hole course normally moves along pretty quickly on weekdays and a bit slow on the weekends. The 9 hole course is normally rittled with beginners, but it can still be fun. Always a fun spot for tournaments.

Navy golf destroyer course is great particularly during this COVID period . Which sees golf enjoying huge popularity to the point where golf courses are jacking up there prices through the roof. Not so with navy golf at cypress they keep up the course beautifully and have kept there prices fair I am ex military and have found that they are keeping the course in great shape and have even helped me get a tee time when their were some technical difficulties with the website. Can’t say enough about there personnel service in the golf shop ! Top notch they actually care. And you will be hard pressed to find a better golf value in Orange County. Challenge, conditions and value all come together here. Nice !!

Granted the greens and fairways were punched but didn't know that until paying. Used the military site for tee time. Wasn't told the greens were closed and temporary flags had been set (on the punched fairway) til we were at the starter. Yes, he said this was possibly the worst day to play due to course conditions. He was right, the course was in about as bad a shape as a course could be. At least we were given a twilight rate. I will play there again, but if I knew what shape the course was in, I would have definitely gone elsewhere. EDIT-I received a response from the course. I suppose I was harsh on the one star so I upped it to 3 stars, but honestly after playing that day not only our foursome were extremely disappointed in the course condition, but a few others that were leaving felt the same way. I will be back, it's an awesome course but this one day it was just a place to hit balls and a large bucket at the driving range would have accomplished pretty much the same thing for a lot less money.

First time here. The entire course is kept up very nicely. The have different sections around the driving range for practicing putting and chipping. The fairways and greens are GREEN, short and nice to play on. The holes are fair lined with more water than I like but it makes it for a great, challenging outing.

We love playing this course: was one of our favorites however in recent months it's impossible to get a morning tee time. The moment the times are available at 6am, when tee times are released 7 days out, the only time left is at 4pm? Navy folks and not sure of any other local programs have now owned all the early times because of their preferential status to book beyond 7 days in advance. They should just call this a semi-private or public-after4pm golf course.

An excellent public course that’s well maintained and has challenging holes. It borders the Los Alamitos shared services base and you’ll have views of the runway where F16’s and other aircraft take off for reserve training. Discounts are available with a pass for multiple uses. Active and former military and other government employees qualify for discounts explained on the website. The pro shop staff is helpful and fast. The restaurant is comfortable and has good food at very reasonable prices compared to other public courses. Parking is plentiful and carts are allowed in the parking lot for loading and unloading directly from your car.

Giving this a 3 star due to the fact that my recent game was literally one of the worst I've played. They were cutting the greens and moved them to the fairways without telling their players until about hole 3 when someone went to the club house to find out what was going on. I'll update my review when I head back there for another round.

The Navy course was something of a mystery previously, but now that it's open to the public, I come to find out that it's very similar to many other local municipal courses. Pretty open and mostly flat. I heard that the former lake that ran through much of the course has mechanical problems so it has been allowed to mostly dry up creating kind of a mud pit hazard. The fairways and greens are in good shape. Like every course, you have to hit the shots to score well.

Great Navy golf course next to the Los Alamitos NAS/ Joint Army-Navy Training facility. Opened to the public I think in the 1990s, the 18 hole Championship Destroyer and 9 hole executive style Cruiser courses are in excellent shape. The facility clubhouse is a beautiful place for events. While it largely caters and appeals to active and retired Military families and Federal DoD retirees, the entire facility welcomes the public to enjoy. There is a very nice driving range and putting and chipping practice area here.

Used to be my favorite course .... lately it has been TOO SLOW...don't really know if there were any changes in management or marketing, but it seems like tee times were always open until you are actually there to find out that you're 3rd or 4th up....average round is over 5h, if you're lucky to finish....on the other hand, course condition is always great overall, from tee box to green....

Popular course. I usually do the cruiser course. There's often a back up at the 1st/10th hole. What I like about the place is that it's so laid back. Sometimes you get air craft overhead from the naval Base. I can also bring my 2 yo too. The Navi on the carts are also a really nice touch.

Myself and 19 others 5 foursomes had a little mini tournament today wind was blowing 30 miles per hour plus made the course very tough but the course was in great condition we had a great time the staff and the restaurant is terrific. You'll never be disappointed at the Navy Golf Course.

The course is great and well maintained, My only gripe and reason for the 4 stars has to deal with the lingering COVID protocols. My group was new to the course. The starter is located inside the Pro Shop which can be accessed through the main entrance. Clear signage designating which buildings/entrances are open and closed would have earned the 5-star.

Great golf course (Destroyer couuse), played there regulary. The fairway is well kept definitely challanging not for beginer; if you are high handicap Cruser couse is another choice. The draw back is thecourse pace is slow 5+ hours most of teh time. There also some admin issue, book tee time on Teeitup yesterday for $53.00 and the staff did not honor the the$3.00 fee charge by booking website saying Navy Golf never work with Teeiup golf reservation and I had to pay full $53.00 again it is no big deal for small fee but just to mention it so the management is aware of it.

A great find, I have just moved back to the area and have heard stories about the Navy Course but multiple visits have exceeded expectations. The club house and facilities are top notch, you can tell this was an existing private facility and the quality of the selection in the pro shop was quite extensive. Both courses (Cruiser and Destroyer) are also very well maintained and a lot of fun. Price is right too on the weekend might be a bit more pricey but overall very good.

The course layout is great and the fairway and green conditions are solid, however... Customer experience on the other hand was disappointing. I check in with the starter and he tells me to go get my cart, but when I pull up ready to go he tells me that I have to leave my cart at the first tee and ride with the other player? The DoD still have Covid Guidance in effect that military sites must follow. So why did you make me share a cart with total stranger? Is this your own made up policy for every single-rider golfer to share a cart? Every other Navy MWR course in California doesn't do that as carts are on a first come first serve basis. The reasoning that the starter gave, and then the manager after she walked up, was that they are short on carts, but said I can pay an additional cart fee to ride solo. Your made up golf cart policy make no sense. You just told me that you're short on carts, so how does me paying an additional cart fee to ride by myself alleviate your "lack of golf carts?" Single golfers who join a 3-person group are never required or penalized to pay the full cart fee. This course also has no rakes at the bunkers and has electronic messaging on the gps that says to social distance, yet you forced me to ride with a total stranger? How contradictory is that? You can do so much better. If you're going to make up your own unofficial policies, make it known ahead of time.

The Cruiser course is always maintained and plays well year round. The best 9 hole course in the area allowing you to use your entire bag. Also easier to get a tee time not like the Destroyer course.

Extremely frustrating. Active duty military on leave, just got back from deployment 2 weeks ago. Yesterday looking to play the 9 hole, I went to the golf shop for a tee time was denied b/c I need 3-4 players. Then asked for a time to hit the range also denied because because it's only available for warm up. I waited 45 min and during that time no one played the 9 hole cruiser course until I was leaving and was only a duo. So much for being a military golf course, extremely disappointing.

A nice well run golf course in Cypress! The greens were better than average and in good condition. The fairways were in very good shape. Too bad I picked a day that was very windy so I had to club up as much as 2 or 3 clubs to reach my desired distance! If it wasn't for all of the military air traffic both fixed wing and helicopter noise and fly overs I would go back again!

We have played here many times over a lot of years. It seems to get better every time.The course and greens are in great shape. Very big greens by the way. From the tips it's too long for me but I still enjoy getting beat up by the place. The snack bar is in a good place but I don't understand why there was not a beverage cart driving around on Friday afternoon. The range is good with fixed targets and a big sign for yardages. The bar area is big and comfortable. Good drinks too.

Review Update: Updated to 4 stars from 1 star. I was able to walk on this time and actually got out pretty quickly. The only gripe I have is that I had to share a cart with a complete stranger and no way to confirm if they've been vaccinated or not. Still don't like that but the course was in decent condition. The fairways had some pretty bad spots and the back tees were missing tee markers on about 6 holes. Other than that stuff, it was a good experience. No walkons accepted which means no singles can play this course anymore. Terrible policies. Guys behind counter had masks under their chins. Real safe guys! ????

This is one of my favorite local public courses to play! They have two courses. One is 18 and one is a 9 hole executive. The Destroyer (18) hole course is really fun and not too expensive. Greens are tiered mostly do you have to hit it on the right level. Great staff and overall great condition on the course!

Very Bad Experience Today! My husband, Active Duty, booked his tee time through the MWR app. Immediately called the golf course because the app didn't have single golfers, (only 2 or 3 or 4) The lady he spoke to over the phone told him to go ahead and come in and just let them know at check in that he was alone. He got an attitude from the guy inside at the counter because he was a single golfer. But was allowed to get a cart and go to the starter. Then the guy at the starter called inside to verify him being a single golfer. A supervisor was now at the counter, he said he could instead add my husband to the group of 3 a half an hour later. When my husband questioned the rule of mixing groups he told him "well I guess you can't golf today, we can give you your money back or find someone to golf with or you just can't ever golf here again at least not until Covid is over." They told my husband to call someone to join him, when my husband replied with he didn't know anyone that plays golf in his command, they laughed and said what you don't have any friends? They ended up letting my husband golf and told him just this one time. When he got on the course the group ahead of him was only 2 golfers even tho they told him they would only allow groups of 3 or more. The new rules don't say "No Single Golfers" I called the golf course at 5:30pm the voice recording said only groups of 3 or 4 golfers allowed. How would my husband know that ahead of time if the lady he spoke to over the phone didn't tell him? He was charged 3 times what he use to pay before covid. When he asked about the price increase, they told him they had to make up the difference because of Covid. The golf course is the only thing offered locally to our local military. For the price he could have just gone to a Public Golf Course that's been open for a while and NOT gotten the rude attitude. It's sad to know that MWR Employees treat Active Duty Military with this type of Disrespect.

I wish I could give this place a zero star - I was visiting a buddy in town on 7/21/18 and he praised the course and took me to play here. The pace of play was really slow, we started around 3 and couldn't finish 18. On the 17th hole, we walked off the green and the key was missing, the Marshall (older guy who has probably been through a lot in life) was mumbling at us, cursing at us. He told us to pick up our bags and walk in, he even said something to the effect of you idiots do this every time, you start late and press to finish when it's dark. Well it was right at 8, may have been 7:55 when he did this and it wasn't even dark yet. Anyways, we told him if he wanted us in the clubhouse, just let us know, you don't have to take the key and threaten us. He threw the key on the ground to "give" it back to us, anyways.... this was a strange experience and I can say with confidence that I will NEVER set foot on this course again. I've play hundreds of rounds of golf, this was the most bizarre experience I've ever encountered.

The Destroyer Course is in terrific condition and challenging. I hope to return soon. Restaurant etc closes relatively early around 5pm. We finished too late for a beer afterwards. Nice facilities.

I only been on the Cruiser course. It's nice, clean, and spacious. Price is good compared to other places in OC. Good value overall. No fees for golf carts. Couple downsides that can be easily overlooked is that it's not a full course so no par 5 holes and only 9 holes but you get to go twice. People here are usually nice but once in awhile, you get inconsiderate people, usually the younger crowd, that golf with 6 or more people to a group or goof around by taking too long or pounding the end of their golf handles on the green to make dimples. Otherwise, many are friendly and even honest by holding onto, giving back, or pointing out a club you might've left behind.

Couldn't finish 18 holes in 4.5 hours due to slow pace of play, clubhouse said we should've teed off earlier??? How are we supposed to know we shouldn't tee off at our scheduled time. Probably coming back anyway since it's the only local grass range.

My favorite 9 hole course. Apparently the executive directors played behind me the other day. They were Very inpatient and rude. We were backed up at least 2-3 groups and they were rushing us. Yelled at my 8 yr old son cuz he left something on the greens. Other than that it’s my go to place to play with the family

Can't find an email on their website to file a complaint. We are one of the businesses that share a fence with the backside of the golf course and our cars have been getting pummeled by golf balls for some time now. Just a few days ago my co workers sun roof was shattered by a golf ball. I have several dents on my car as well as numerous other co workers. The fence they have set up to catch these rogue golf balls is inadequate at best. There are large sections of unprotected areas where golf balls can still fly through.

The 1 star review is entirely due to the marshall who puts in zero effort to speed up play. Played here 7/21/18, had 4 groups waiting on a par 3 tee box is ridiculous. But when it's time go close the course, puts in 110% to threaten you to get off the course. Started at 3pm and couldn't even finish. We were finishing putting out on the 17th green and as we walk to our carts, the key was missing. The marshall sat there holding our key and told us grab our gear and walk in. Mind you he pasted is numerous times and never said a word or told us to go in at any time. After a few minutes of arguing with this jerk, he throws the cart key on the ground and sped off shaking his head. Is this how you're supposed to treat your paying customers? Never in my 20+ years of golfing all around the world have I ever been mistreated like this. Absolute unacceptable behavior!! All he needed to say was it's time to go in and we would of gone in. A little respect goes a long way. Whatever issues he has in life need not be passed onto you're customers. Such a great course to have it brought down by one employee. The guys who checked us in at the pro shop were great along with the starter.
