The lovely gentleman checking us in and sending us off to the 1st hole really set a great tone for our 1st outing at The Marshes! The young guy at the cash in the clubhouse wasn't as welcoming. This course is well maintained and has a very nice design. We enjoyed our round thoroughly. The clubhouse lounge served excellent food and drinks, and the wait staff were very friendly and effecient.

(Translated) A beautiful course! I like that there are 6 by 3, 6 by 4 and 6 by 5 for a normal 72. I also like the small strategic booklet that it offers and explains in detail each hole with beautiful images and intermediate distances. for each hole with green close-up. The sand traps are well maintained, no surprises, no blind shots, the greens roll very well. Be disciplined, stay within your abilities and you will be rewarded. Let yourself be intimidated and try to play too hard and you will be pretty quickly destroyed. (Original) Un très beau parcours! J'aime qu'il y ait 6 par 3, 6 par 4 et 6 par 5 pour une normale 72. J'aime aussi le petit livret stratégique qu'il offre et explique en détails chaque trous avec des belles images et les distances intermédiaires pour chaque trou avec gros plan du vert. Les trappes de sable sont bien entretenues, aucun surprises, aucun coup à l'aveugle, les verts roulent super bien. Soyez discipliné, restez à l'intérieur de vos capacités et vous serez récompensé. Laissez vous intimider et essayez de jouer trop fort et vous serez assez rapidement détruit.

I can't believe this was my first time photographing a wedding at The Marshes. I have fallen head over heels and it is now one of my favourite wedding venues in Ottawa. The atmosphere is great, the staff are all super helpful and friendly, and the grounds are beautiful for portraits! Came a second time for a Paint Nite event and loved it just as much.

This use to be an incredible place to test your golf skills, now you have saturated fairways and glacier slow/shaggy/bumpy greens. Hopefully all this nice weather allow them to fix all there issues.

Marshes is an amazing experience. The course really is suited to any skill level and the staff is very welcoming. Their nine hole is lots of fun as well as their mini-putt. I highly recommend playing The Marshes.

We played there on September the 7th. I was somewhat disappointed that they were top dressing greens. And that the Pro Shop did not tell us before our round. It made for a bad experience on a few holes as they either had sand all over them, or had just been swept. I’d expect this from a second rate golf course. Not the Marshes.

Golf Course OK --- Marshalling is a problem The last 2 times we played here, we were approached by a marshal to speed up play. We are not slow players. Today the group ahead of us was 3 holes ahead of us when we started. At the 10th hole the marshal is telling us to speed up play as it was backing up behind us. There were 2 sets of twosomes behind us. Guess what a twosome can play faster than a foursome! We told him that when we started there were 3 empty holes in front of us. He said there were now 4. Turns out he was lying. When we finished the 12th hole, we could see 2 groups on the 15th. We were playing right on pace and finished 18 in slightly over 4 hours. When you pay that much to play a course, It really wrecks the whole feeling of the game when they start playing games like this. One of the people in our group was a member. This type of treatment would certainly put me off joining this club. There are lots of better options.

Amazing golf course that was unfortunately ruined by a terrible experience with the staff. We had tee times before 9 am, on the hottest day of the year, and not one person was able to sell us water bottles because "they were not open"... How can you play golf without water? To make things worse, one of the cart girls came up to us and black mailed us asking for $20 or she will tell the marshal that we had alcohol in our cart. We did not, and of course refused to give her any money. The marshall eventually came over and saw this for himself, but found nothing. This was a really disappointing experience because the golf course was amazing to play and I had fun. But the management treated us horribly, and as a result we will not be coming back.

Waited 45 minutes for them to screw up my simple burger order, then another 10 for them to screw it up again. Also never got a water refill, so they charged me 20 dollars for ~250mL of water and a burger that I didn't want and had to eat at double speed because this was a company lunch. I'd give them the same number of stars as I tipped but it's not an option.

Played a twilight round on a breezy fall day. This is an exceptional public golf course with challenging holes. The conditions were terrific on the fairways and greens. Even with the perforated greens due to the time of year, they were still in great shape. Staff at cart retrieval and pro shop were excellent. The deal offered for the twilight round at $45 with cart is the best in the city - given it is probably the best public course in the region.

Expensive and premium place to play golf, but worth the money. Make sure you can really play golf if you chose to play here as you do not want to be hittting slices or hooks or maybe even hitting the ground instead of the ball :)

No marshall visible on Saturday resulting in very slow pace of play. Waited at every hole on the back 9 due to 4 slow, inexperienced, young party goers. Walking off the course after the 16th was disappointing.

Disappointed in the food. I ordered the Southwest Steak and Greens. It has to be the worst piece of steak I've ever eaten. Compared to the all other steak salads at other restaurants, I'd recommend paying them extra to remove the steak. It was terrible. A tough piece of grizzle.

For the price, Marchwood is a great little par 3. The staff at the pro shop is great (Will, Josh, Keegan, etc), so are the starters, cheerful and ever so positive ( Ed, John... and the one not wearing his name tag not to damage is shirt ;) The restaurant with nice patio has tasty food. We miss the breakfast after our golf game as we play early morning. Maybe after Covid???

Played the 9-hole Marchwood course in November! It was in decent shape considering the time of year; greens has been aerated but it wasn't a big issue. Was disappointed that so many golfers had not repaired their ball markers, which made putting difficult at times. People should be more considerate. All those high-angle shots are bound to produce ball markers, so if you're fortunate to hit the green from the tee, take a moment and do your part! Management could help by posting signs reminding golfers to stoop and repair.

Course was in great shape! All greens were nice played fast and fairways were excellent. Great layout has some of everything, Lots of big bunkers as well as water. Challenging long course! Disappointing that on a hot day didn't see the cart girl until the 10th hole and it was her last call! They also were closed for food and drinks on the patio after our round. But as far as golf goes excellent course! Would definitely recommend and will go back!

Great course, staff/service are great, pace of play last time out was a major problem. 3 groups on a tee block at the same time waiting, which I've never seen before anywhere. Culprits were two ahead (the group behind them quit entirely after 7 holes due to said waiting around) and hitting 4 shots off the tee each (all into the pond), selfies on the tee block and the green, lining up putts for an hour. No marshall in site to remedy the situation. Totally ruined the round for me and a waste of my money. Playing 9 holes in 3 hours is not fun.

We played the back 9, with a 2:50 tee time. Drinks were not offered for sale at the shop, with a sign that said a drink cart would be on the course. There was no such cart, we called the shop and they lied to us and said they would send it out. Very disappointed that a place with such high prices would offer no services. Would not recommend.

This place was super cute! Got surprised taken here and it was such a nice place with a great view! I was upset because I never knew my salad had bacon and I accidentally ate it and noticed by the taste and I spit it out but other than that it was great! Waitress was kinda annoying though.

Great golf course, obviously super tough. Was really frustrated today, our round took over five hours to play. There was a foursome in front of us that would not let us play through, we waited minimum 15-20 minutes on every tee box. Not a marshal in site. Not the first. time pace of play is completely ignored at this course. You’re in for a long slow round if you play here. Only downside to a beautiful course.

It is a nice space for meeting. A very large room that can be divided. A great dining area with a bar/beverage. Nice fir holding events. If you are a golfer, this would be a nice destination. I enjoyed playing the mini golf course. The restaurant there provides a good menu. You need to reserve in advance if you need a catering service.

Played this course for the first time this year. What an absolute treat! I played like complete junk and that can’t happen at a course like this. Extremely challenging and long from the tips. Absolute monster of a course. Great golf course if you’re looking for a challenge. Nothing in Ottawa compares in difficulty IMO

The course is nice and challenging, and well maintained. It’s a fun course to play, but there is a lack of organization that leaves a lot to be desired. The pace of play can be infuriating at times, with some of my rounds this summer taking 5 or 5.5 hours. After seeing the starting marshal, you won’t see any marshals on the course for the duration of your round. Slow groups have zero pressure to pick up their pace of play - it’s not uncommon to see 3 groups waiting at the same tee. This creates issues elsewhere. This is my first year being a member at the course and, over the duration of the summer, there is an increasing frequency of carts not being available for my group when we show up for our tee time. Of course, they are waiting for earlier groups to finish so they can clean their carts and pass them along to us, but groups aren’t finishing their rounds at a normal pace because no marshals on the course, and so on. Yesterday (September 6, 2020), my group and I waited 20 minutes for carts to come off 18 so we could go hit some range balls prior to our round. It was unfortunate, but we were used to this type of thing happening, so no big deal. As we continued to wait, more and more groups came to wait for carts, and then we found out the reason for the wait. FOUR groups of 4 came off of the 18th tee at the same time. It was very clearly a large group of friends playing some type of match/tournament amongst themselves. But they were all able to sit and wait at the 18th tee with 8 carts until all four groups finished the round. Then they brought their carts back. My frustration was compounded when we finally got our carts and scrambled to get to the starter in time. I explained the situation to him and asked if we could just run to the range and hit 5 range balls. The starter just chuckled and said they had no range balls! What!? This lack of organization is the reason I may not be back as a member for next season. It is a nice course, but it seems like once players tee off at #1, nobody cares what happens after that. As a member, it makes it near impossible to know how long a round will take us one day to the next. It could take us 4 hours, or could take us 5.5. Just a lack of organization to manage the pace of play for each group. It’s 2 stars for my overall experience as a member here this summer.

Well maintained & challenging course, as would be anticipated for the cost. Unfortunate that there's not better supplied course layout given cost, blind shots and trouble areas. We tried to rely on the website hole layout which was somewhat confusing vs downloading the GPS app info. No more in-cart GPS ????

My husband and I booked a stay & play package through Brookstreet. My husband is an experienced golfer but it was my first time playing a round, so I was planning to play the easier holes and watch my husband play the more challenging ones. Although the Marshes website claims that the course will “accommodate golfers of every caliber” this was not the case due to a very condescending marshal. On the SECOND hole he drove up and said it was obvious I was a new golfer and that I would feel “less pressure” and “enjoy the experience more” if we played on the par 3 course. No idea why he felt qualified to determine that I felt too pressured to enjoy my day, but it was an unnecessary, rude suggestion. There was no one around us, we weren’t clogging the course up, we had literally just started playing. My husband said we had booked this package through the hotel so it is what it is, and the marshal proceeded to mansplain that if the group behind us caught up we would need to let them play through. We were already planning on doing this because again, my husband is an experienced golfer and he fully understands the etiquette. I know for a fact that I wasn’t the only beginner on the course but I felt singled out and uncomfortable for the rest of the round. For the record, if there was a group behind us they never got anywhere close to catching up. If you’re a beginner looking for a fun day of golfing, avoid this course.
