Love this little gem of a golf course. If you're willing to travel a little out of Ottawa, this course is for long hitters as much as it is for your short game. Great prices, wonderful community and definitely a little challenge, especially when playing the island green on the 10th. A must visit for any golf enthusiast.
nice golf course
Horrible customer service. Will not be returning
Great course for an even better price
Excellent value, not too crowded. Grounds are not the best in the Ottawa region but the layout is nice.
In a last minute to golf the night before, Bearbrook had some available tee times. Despite the dry summer the course was green but with some dry patches on a few fairways. Green fees are reasonable but the power carts are pricey, however, I'm not an owner and I'm sure they have to make up for the loss during the extreme heat. Staff was accommodating and polite. I don't mind the fairways being a bit hard (like the bounce & extra yards) but tee boxes and greens should be the greenest.
Beautiful golf course
worst golf course in ottawa. The lady at the front desk was extremely rude. the course is not maintained well at all. the fairways are so dry that you can hurt your wrist if you chunk any small piece of the ground. And no beer cart!!
Decent course for a great price. Good for beginners.
Lady at the front desk is a piece of work. Incredibly rude and unprofessional. That alone is enough for me to never return. The course was in very rough shape. A few greens we're pretty much unputtable. The price is fair for 18 but you get what you pay for. Honestly worth the few extra bucks to play a better course. However if you're a beginner this course is very easy and you'll have fun. But if you've played for a few years definitely skip this place.
This course has become like a second home. Very friendly owners and staff and very inexpensive green fees. Greens suffered this year because of last winter, but slowly improved through the season. Fairways were well watered this year and overall the course was in its best shape in a few years. 5 stars due to price for product.
One of the worse golf courses around! The lady at the front desk is downright rude and mean. She is very unaccomodating and condescending! How would any reasonable person want to be subjected themselves to the rude entitled lady in the pro shop! The course itself is also in very poor condition and is low quality compared to any other golf course around. I will never be coming back again!
Price is reasonable and has a wide fairways
Nice staff, visually pleasing holes with nice greens
Decent course, great price!
Course has a great layout and i really like playing here. No two holes are similar. Some easier holes and some not so easy. Course keeps improving. Staff have always been great. Best value by far , in the area. Can't beat the view on the patio afterwards. Highly recommend you give Bearbrooke a try, you might be pleasantly surprised. I'll be back first opportunity I get!!
Great place and cheap you have to go here its amazing
Nice course, wide fairways so you don't lose your ball!
The rude lady working at the counter wouldn’t let me rent a cart even though I drove there. I spent $40 on drinks and food and asked for a small bag, she told me to put the drinks in my shirt. Okay for beginners, no markings so some of the holes were hard to find. This lady at the desk must want to go out of business.
Par, serves hotdogs and beer
Great place for a great price
Great course with a little of everything, water, trees, sand and 3,4,and 5 pars. Was busy on weekend. Only issue was a foursome who felt we were too slow and blamed us for holding everyone up. Its golf! Relax and enjoy the day. You could be working....price is good as well.
Paid $28 for a round with a pull cart after 2pm. For that price, I wasn't expecting an emaculate, Clublink-like course, but the ground was still well maintained all things considered. A couple of the par 3s on the front nine seemed to have their distances off by about 30 yards which was a big no-no even for the low price, but other than that, I recommend it!
Ok golf course. Staff wasn't very friendly
The lady at the front desk is incredibly rude and disrespectful. If booking plans change, it’s proper customer service to let the customer know beforehand. Not give them attitude when they are not aware!
It's decent for the location. Very mom and pop shop vibe. The is enough landscaping on the course to keep your game interesting but overly hard. Good for the casual golfer.
Good place to play a round with friends at a low price (green fee). Was taken aback when they charged the same for a cart with 1 or 2 people, especially during COVID, when other courses don't. Course is in good condition.
The greens are in pore shape
Good golf course for beginners. Friendly staff. Nice club house.
Nice course.fees are very inexpensive.course needs a little love..but overall 4 stars..I'll be back :)
Can't beat the price. Layout is actually very good. Friendly staff. If you're a 'weekend' golfer, this is the place. Wish I had discovered this many years ago.
Been here a few times. Course is either hard or swampy.
Great spot.
Found the lady at the desk... who i was told is the owners daughter to be quite rude, unaccomodating and condescending! Booked on chronogolf in which my recipet came to 45.99$ without cart fee, only to be rudely told that it is actually 74$ and that shes been working there for 50 years so she should know. My boyfriend and i took our two feet and walked right out the door. Horrible customer service.
One of the best rates in Ottawa. A fun but challenging course.
Go elsewhere
Nice course, inexpensive ( 44$ for the course and a gaz cart ) The woman at the counter was kind. However, the course need a bit of improvement regarding the holes direction. I had to look around a lot. Also, there still a few "watery" spot. But it's normal with all the rain we had in the past weeks. Anyway. Great course, nice layout, and great price.
Family owen very friendly staff never any problem greens are beautiful. Love it
Great course, good prices
We booked a day in advance for 2 people and when we got there they asked us to pair up with another group. They wouldn’t let us play unless we went with the other group. Sucks because they really could’ve used our 50$ to clean up their garbage course.
Course is in decent shape and for the price, it's worth it. However, the lady at the proshop discriminated my son because he was a junior and we were playing in the morning. She reluctantly allowed us to play. She simply assumed that because he was young, he would play slowly. We ended up keeping pace with the twosome in front of us and were a hole and half up on the twosome behind us (who had a golf cart!) Extremely unprofessional on her part and left a bitter taste to an otherwise enjoyable round.
It's a good practice golf course not something you want to pay a lot of money for
We had a great time
I have golfed this course a few times. Greens are always in great shape. Fairways are wide but a little on the rough side ( probably due to our hot and rain less summer). The staff are great. Good bang for your buck.
Nice inexpensive course. No food or drink cart.
Very open and mostly flat. Inconsistent greens but it'd cheap
This is a great place to play golf at a very reasonable rate. The receptionist is very friendly, professional and helpful. The course is relatively challenging with a few obstacles but the fairways are not always in a great shape. Value for money
One star is being generous. Staff were dismissive and disrespectful. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.
Worst customer service I have ever experienced.
Stupid rule about not letting a single parent who wouldn’t be playing, to accompany a minor. Unreasonable rule with no explanation. We were even willing to pay for two.
Nice scenery, especially in the fall ????
DON’T GO!!! • By far the worst golf course in Eastern Ontario. • Overpriced carts that barely work! • The Owners clearly do not know how to run a golf course. • they’ve been struggling for years! • THE STAFF IS DISRESPECTFUL, DISMISSIVE & UNPROFESSIONAL! • THIS IS ALSO NOT THE TYPE OF COURSE THAT THEY SHOULD BE PICKY WHO PLAYS!!!
The value at bearbrook has been great all season. However, they're just unable to keep the course in a playable condition this time of year. The course is almost unplayable right now, even at $28.
Odd customer experience. Little to no markings on the course/paths.
Great little hidden gem. Where else can you golf for the low cost of $28, $23 after 2pm
Decided to bring on a guest to watch me play and they refused to accept us even though I said I could pay for 2 fees and even a cart and was refused after driving all the way down here. Terrible service and rules should be changed to accomodate folks that want to see the course before playing it. Never coming back. Now I see why it's for sale and failing.
Absolutely the worst 18 holes I’ve been to, they didn’t even let me and my colleagues have a cart and the woman at the front was extremely rude. The price is fair for how bad their course is, impossible to putt of their greens. I will never return to this golf course.
Excellent value especially for seniors.
Nice inexpensive course.
Nice and open. Traps and fairways are in poor shape.
Terrible place. Fairways are not even maintained greens have big dry patches, they charge for full cart even with 1 rider! Not worth the experience! Don't go!!
Beautiful golf course, my dad and I come here every year. Decent price for 2 people and a cart
Bearbrook doesn't get a lot of love for some reason but for $37 for green fees and a cart its hard to beat for value. Course has always been a little rough, greens late this year on the back nine have what looks like fertilizer burn stripes and #12 fairway is a war zone on the tree side but despite that its great value for the money. Be sure to check out the turtles sunning on the rocks as you play through holes #11 and #12! No course marshal or starter so sometimes things can get a bit clagged up but usually not a problem since not many people seem to golf there. Always a big choke point at #15 tee, just cut off on to the road and do #2-#9 again if this is the case... One warning though, for some reason they arbitrarily changed their cart prices in September--no such thing as a half cart anymore. A single rider now pays full freight on a cart....with no explanation and not updated on the website....
Terrible service and staff
Course is okay, very forgiving. Sand traps are slightly overgrown. Greens are in decent shape for COVID 19 era. For some reason some people think they are Tiger Woods, but without any golf edicate. As my wife was setting up to chip onto the green, the player behind us decided to tee off. His ball landed within 2 feet of her ball. He did not yell fore nor let us know he was teeing off. Very rude behaviour. Course has no Marshall.
Worst course I have ever been on. It is not marked for direction from one hole to the next. The fairways were not mowed and they were so wet that people should not have been permitted to be on them let alone use a cart which made it a great challenge not to stay stuck in the mud. No water available on the course, only at the canteen. The greens were good and the staff was friendly.
Very nice course
Best greens are beautiful
Nice course good prices great people
This is my favorite golf course as it's a great deal walking the folks who work and play there are very nice.... the course has a good layout... it is a natural course so if it hasn't rained much the ground is hard and the ball really bounces a long way down the fairway... may have to find a decent piece of grass to hit your next shot off. The greens are challenging and pin placements can be really tough if you are on the wrong side of the hole... greens are a bit bumpy in places this year unfortunately... there is an island green and there are a few holes where you have to have a good shot to get over creeks.... the 18th hole is a long tree lined hit up a hill... tough to get on... the one thing that would change my rating to a 5 star would be the addition of a beer cart... ⛳
Found the lady at the desk... who i was told is the owners daughter to be quite rude and unaccomodating, cart prices were ridiclous as well
Reasonable and a challenge.
Garbage golf course
A nice spot for the price, the layout is generally forgiving. Some of the reviews are quite harsh, there are some interesting holes and the conditions are improving. I joined some of the members and it made the experience even better, very friendly atmosphere.
If I can give it a minus star I would go 10 deep. Customer service at its worst, check in older women very abrupt, ignorant, rude to say the least, words cant describe her attitude, advice to the owner, get rid of her! Golf course itself is very, very, very bad, poorly maintained from the 1st hole to the last, no fairways, no 1st or 2nd cuts, greens are burnt from winter frost. Highly do not recommend playing there!
Staff is very friendly and the greens are top-notch. A bit mosquito-ey but overall it was well worth the bites!
I have been golfing here for over 30 years. I will never golf there again. Yesterday I had the worst customer service I have ever had. They wouldn't split the cart payment between players, the lady behind the counter was extremely rude. I can't justify giving my old home course a good rating. I will NEVER be back.
Phoned for price etc. Was advised by female at Bearbrook $23.00 green fee and $34.00 for cart whether you are one or two persons. ridiculous I said. She said she don’t make rules. Most expensive carts in Ottawa.. must be very busy course , I said. To ::::: Whoever owns this course ...be reasonable with cart prices. You might get more participants. I won’t be one at this price. “Food for thought” Mr. Manager.
A great course for the price. There is no Marshall on course nor beer cart. The conditions are better this year than last and it's a nice "no frills" walkable 18 hole course.
Easy to play can do 18 holes in 3 hours
If I could rate 0 stars I would. Atrocious customer service. Find another course
Good value and interesting holes.
Staff have always been pleasant. Course is not the best shape but no complaints as you get what you pay for.
The lady at the desk is very rude and unprofessional. Wonder why the course is empty. I came in with my pregnant wife at 4:30 asking for a cart to play nine holes. After I said we would be done in 2 hours, she yelled at us to “get out”. Absolute joke. The course looks even worse then she does.
The course is quite good but I share with many others that the lady cashier is extremely rude, also refused to give me a proper receipt, I guess for tax evasion, not recommend at all.
Went to the course around 4:30pm with my husband to try to play 9 holes. I’m 9 and a half months pregnant and they refused to let us rent a cart. I explained that I wouldn’t be able to walk and play, it would be too much on my body. She then told me I couldn’t even go out on the course that I should “read their rules” and pointed to the displayed sign which stated you can’t go out on the course if you’re not playing. We were willing to pay for 2 people but she wouldn’t listen to us and kept telling us to leave. She refused to call a manager or even tell us her name. I live very close to the course and have had the pleasure of meeting the male owner who was very nice so this experience with this women has been a huge disappointment.
Very rude lady at the cash. I asked if I could grab a cart and she proceeded by telling me there were no carts today. I asked her what she meant when I saw everyone riding a cart outside and she told me that I had to be 21 or have my G license to be able to drive a golf cart!!?? She just assumed I wasn't meeting these requirements that I have never heard of before. Fortunately, I had my G license and she ended up charging me 40$ for a cart. How can a cart cost more than your actual round?? Found this ridiculous. Never going back again.
Very friendly, flexible staff. Greens are nice, and pretty nice conditions considering the hot, dry summer. Great time, will be back !
No maintence. Was misled with the reviews. No difference from tee box, fairways, or rough.
Great course, little muddy throughout the fairway but to be expected with all the flooding this year.
Great course and prices. Lady at the front desk loves to try and ruin your game
Awful place!
5 and a half hour round which is a good 2 hours too long. Seems like they don't mow very often. Had to pay for a full cart instead of a half.
Good course for the price. Fairly open. Not busy
Great value for the money. Course was not in the greatest shape but greens were all in good condition.
Great open course. Front counter person could use some bedside manner but otherwise things were ideal.
I’ve played here many times the course is challenging enough. Great if you like walking. Staff are friendly and the beer is cold I had a great time .
How would any reasonable person want to be subjected to the rude entitled staff working the cash (Monday Aug. 3rd pm). Everyone knows that Bearbrook has been struggling for years to make ends meet..and now they hire a rude lady at the front to turn paying customers off. At least in our case, I did not pay...but instead chose to walk out the door and leave. She was rude right from the moment we walked in...Does she not understand that you have to be kind to customers in order to run a successful business. Save your money and visit a course that respects their customers like Hammond, Nation, Casselview...probably anywhere in Eastern Ontario area would have more polite staff.
Course was in poor shape as it was when I played it in the spring. Also discriminated against and was denied access to the clubhouse because I am unable to wear a mask due to medical reasons.
great course for beginners and intermediates and not too expensive.
Friendly staff, great rates, very clean, great experience
Price is good and greens are kept well!
Took over 4 hours to complete 17 holes.. we skipped past one hole to pass a 5some...nary a marshall to be seen... first and last
No carts after 4. Sure, they want to pay their employees the minimum hours, inconvenient, but not unique. The course is in terrible shape. Hard fairways and tee boxes, sand traps on the greens. It's a cheap course, they don't maintain well, I guess you get what you pay for. But the shrieking crazy lady at the end of the round was the icing on the cake. In the parking lot, tallying the scores, with other groups behind us, some lady started screaming we had to leave because it was 9. I assumed she was the area drunk, but she claimed to be the owner. Poorly run course in bad condition with trashy management was a bit too much. Much better options in the area.
Fine course in ok condition, but the lady at the front is downright awful. Wouldn’t let my beginner friend share my clubs and was super rude and not accommodating. This isn’t the type of course who should be picky about who they get.
Awesome lots of fun
Very Dissapointing, fairways are cow pastures, greens ae in pretty good shape, if you dont mind hitting off hard dirt surfaces and tee boxes that are as flat as tire ttacks on a dirt road, fill your boots
Unprofessional and not worth your money. 1 star is generous, the greens were okay but the rest of the course was garbage. Their COVID policy is a joke- if you dont share the same address as your partner, you can’t share a cart (understandable), however, they charged us for 4 carts. No other course charges each player a cart, and when I confronted the women at the desk, she was incredibly rude, and basically told me to get over it. Paid about $65 a person, the cart was more expensive than the green fee. Bad conditions, unprofessional employees, don’t waste your money.
The owner is terrible. The conditions of the course not much better. We booked a twilight round at 4:30 and they wouldn’t let us rent carts to keep up pace and finish quicker. Ok so we walk. Pace is slow and we step off the 18th green around 9:05 and begin counting our scores. At least one group still behind us. We hear a shriek from the parking lot from a lady waiting outside her car. Yelling across the lot to leave it’s after 9pm. A rebuttal of “don’t book twilight tee times if you don’t want to stay at work” is responded by “IM THE OWNER” and things escalate. This lady should never be involved in any form of customer service. Will never return. Save your money and your sanity.
Awesome spot. Friendly service! Great place for a round with the boys.
I golf at bearbrook for its convenience but the staff is so unprofessional it blows my mind every time . I’ve dealt with two different ladies and they are both horrible . And yes you have to pay for a full cart if you’re alone which is nearly 40 dollars.
Horrible course. Staff are unfriendly and really don’t care if you show up or not. Will NEVER play this course again. Its in terrible shape. Honestly its the worst course I’ve ever played on. I had to give it one star but really, no stars are applicable.
