You have all the opinions of people like you who consumed the products and services of Carruthers Creek Golf & Country Club (Golf) near Oshawa (Canada).
Nowadays the business receives a rating of 3.9 stars over 5 and this rating was based on 127 reviews.
As you can read, the average of ratings is really high, and it is based on a very large number of feddbacks, so we may be pretty sure that the assessment is quite faithful. If there are many people who bothered to evaluate when they are pleased with the service, it works.
As you know, we don't usually bother to put evaluations when they are good and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or issue...
This Golf corresponds to the category of Public golf course.
It's as expected
Good small par 3 , some challenging ponds ! A little dry at this time (June 2021) but such is life !!
Short course. A little pricey. Good greens and fairways. Not too difficult to get tee times.
Would give a zero if I could, we booked a tee time other day for today for 2 to 4 people as we were not sure if other two members could make it , they could we showed up for our tee time the woman was seriously rude they had matched us up with 2 strangers walking the course! She would not allow the four of us family members to play together , Even though when booking clearly said it would be for 2 to 4 , when we asked She said NO In the rudest possible manner, never playing there again absolutely ridiculous and her rudeness was horrible. Getting up early , getting ready for a nice nine hole round of golf driving there to be treated like garbage.
Fun course!
Both courses here are great. Prices are also great. Also has a good driving range, however it faces the sun in the evening, so bring some shades.
Decent golfing experience, absolutely terrible customer service (besides the lady driving the snacks/drinks cart). As a first time golfer, the staff did nothing to ensure that myself or my group would have a good experience. We simply walked in, paid for 18 holes of foot golf, and were told "you're good to go". We were not told that we had the option to rent a golf cart. We were not debriefed on the rules of foot golf that had supposedly changed from the rules posted on their website. Lastly, we weren't even asked if it was our first time golfing. At hole 15, we were kicked out of the facility. The marshal explained we were being kicked out because: 1) we moved the flag pole which is against the new set of rules 2) The woman behind us was a first time golfer and we were causing her too much grief (by waiting for the marshal to retrieve our ball out of the water and standing on the edge of course). If the staff don't let golfers know the new rules they have implemented, how can they expect golfers to follow them? Additionally, why is the middle-aged white woman's experience valued more so than 4 young adults who are people of colour? We were all first time golfers so that is not a reasonable justification for their decision to kick us out. I would strongly recommend evaluating your own staff to see if they are doing the basic minimum to ensure ALL golfers have a good experience. Please save yourself the trouble and do not golf here.
I was there for a meeting, not the Golf. I heard the course is challenging. Meeting rooms are acceptable, facility a little old.
Golfed with a friend here on a couple occasions. The course is well maintained. Staff are friendly and you see them on the course (Marshalls). Reasonable price will def be back to play this corse again this summer
Nice golf Banquet
Showed up 15 minutes early to pay and get cart, was about 4 minutes behind on our tee off time, had the Marshall breathing down our necks about it, i did not appreciate, then caught up to two other in front of us and already two groups behind us, this continues for all nine holes, thank God we didn't do 18. Had this experience before at this course with marshalls following you around putting pressure on you, makes for a bad game. Conditions are dry, green fast. Overall staff are friendly. Bring extra balls ????
I play there with a group every Monday afternoon and the course eats me up every week. It is a challenging nine and is in good shape. Some of the tee boxes need some work, particularly #6. Fix those up and I'll give you 5 stars!
Stopped by for a round of virtual golf. Was great. Perfect setup for practice over the cold winter months.
Fun course!
Great course. Challenging and fun. Only downside is that it is only 9 holes.
Pretty reasonable prices, course was in decent condition when we played. Definitely a haul so I doubt I will be returning. But if you're looking for a fairly straightforward forward, no thrills 9 hole. This is an easy afternoon. Although I must say the 9th hole here was a gem, wish the rest of the course followed in the design.
It was nice of them to ask me and my family to leave because my family did not golf good.
challenging course but you have to play 9 holes twice to account for 18. it does get repetitive, hence 4 stars
Well groomed
Great course.
I’m bad a golf and this place made me realize that.
Great golf club. Range buckets are a little pricey, and if you go in the evening, you get the sun in your eyes, or it would have been 5 stars.
(Translated) Beautiful reception rooms. Very practical in a beautiful setting. (Original) Belles salles de réceptions. Très pratique dans un beau décor.
Great for a quick 9. Also has soccer golf.
Well maintained, challenging course and tee times supervised
Fun golf course and has simulators during the off season. Would like the drink specials back though from previous years.
Each teacher has their own rule set, so by one teacher you're doing things right, but by another you're not. The field is absolute trash. Way too many students for a school this size. The hallways are half the width of Ajax High's and yet there are almost just as many students.
Awful staff for an awful course.
The course is well kept with consistant greens and nice views. The marshal was also very helpful and brought out a flag to specially signify that I can drive up to both the tee boxes and greens, which was very helpful considering I'm an amputee. I've never had a course do that before which was a pleasant surprise
Been here twice so far this year and tried both courses. Both were great, well maintained. I'm new to golf and the whistling winds course was probably a better fit for my skill level or if you want a quick 9 hole. Big shoutout to all the friendly staff and especially Frank. I lost my club the first time we were there (don't ask...) and he called me about a week later saying they found one. He had remembered talking to me about my clubs before our first outing and reached out to see if I was missing one! Thanks so much... we'll visit again soon I'm sure!
Beautiful course, a real hidden gem.
Both courses are great and always well maintained, been playing here for years. Saw a deer yesterday which was cool. My complaint is that apparently the clubhouse is operating under a "takeout liquor license" and you must order food with the purchase of an alcoholic beverage. However, I was able to order as many drinks as I would like from the beverage cart out on the course without having to order food. That doesn't really make sense to me. No other golf course is operating like this and it is pretty inconvenient. It already costs $50 for a round of 9 with a cart so I'd rather not spend more money on something I don't want. I would be more inclined to buy more drinks if I didn't have to scarf down a Jamaican patty with each one. Lot's of cheaper golf courses in the area that don't operate like this and I'll be more inclined to book my tee times there in the future.
I was very disappointed in how my child was yelled at by the guy who collects the balls at the driving range. He needs to stick to his job as ball collector and not yell at kids for picking up the balls that are 2 feet in front of the mats. I will never come to this place again.
The Club is excellent because of its employees like Robbin who's always efficient, professional and polite.
Not very good. Below average even for a middle of the road club. Poor customer focus. Frugal maintenance budget evident on greens bunkers tee boxes and general grounds. Not very exiting to play.
Nice place.. Good rates.
My go to for a quick game. I can clear the smaller par 27 course in 45 minutes! And I got 5 pars the other day which was awesome for me since I normally shoot over 40 cause I stuck kinda.
Really friendly staff and pretty challenging (lake breeze) course. Definently worth a shot! Will be back!
Place is great. Looks like a few bad apples poisoned the reviews, but quality of course is great considering the drought; Take a look for yourself, the place is fine. Just golf with decent human beings and you'll probably have no issue.
Challenging layout, greens in great condition , staff friendly , best value for your money ???? space tee times properly .if marshals doing his job properly you play in 2 HRS
It was quite nice. The 9 hole options are broken between one with only par 3s and a longer one (lake breeze ). Recommend playing the longer 9.
I’m a new golfer this year and I absolutely love this course. It’s both challenging and enjoyable. It’s nice to be a beginner and play golf without feeling like I’m being rushed through the course. I’ve played here every week since the lockdown has lifted and have had a wonderful time.
Greens are in good condition! Staff is welcoming and helpful! Played the executive course on a Sunday, it’s a fun course to practice your short game and can get through quickly. Then played the championship course on Monday, which is a …
The course is in wonderful shape especially with the drought we have been having and scorching hot weather. The staff members are very very nice and have always been wonderful to me and my friends who come from all races. When reading the below reviews left by the same family I would say they aren't golfers and may not have even played here as there is no creek on either course which they mention...makes you go??? Plus they talk about foot golf then say they golfed...which is it...do you know what you are talking about...obviously not. Shame on you for posting bad reviews for such a great company. If you are reading this disregard those posts they are not valid and don't represent this company or it's staff members.
Challenging, well maintained course. All staff extremely friendly and helpful.
Awesome
Please see other dropped pin on map for official post for Carruthers Creek Golf and Country Club. Unknown who has created this dropped pin for location?
Great shape. Under rated course.
Nice course but Marshal let a group golf through us in the middle of hole 3. Then we almost got hit by a ball from the people who wanted to play through. Got paired with someone a bit slow.
Greens are in great shape on the whistling wind course
Great golf facility, we used to come play Golf Soccer here before the pandemic, too bad that they don't offer this game. Great owners/management, thank you
Awesome course and friendly service!
Really nice 9 hole courses. Whistling wind is great for beginners and anyone wanting to tighten up there short game. Lake breeze is great for a challenge, makes you really consider your shots. Greens are in great shape.
Went for a day of golf with my parents brother and 10 yr old niece. For 9 holes and 3 carts we were charged $242 and were marshalled the whole time when we playing time frame appropriate. My brother was charged green fees for his daughter that wasn’t even playing, she just wanted to hang out with her dad. Will never golf there again ... don’t recommend
Art & Madeleine Simpson celebrated our 50th Anniversary at Carruthers Golf Course and they did a supreme job with the luncheon and decor about 10 years ago. Our 60th is coming up on Oct. 3rd, 2019 and fully expect to contact you Many belated thanks Art & Madeleine
Carruthers is a little hidden gem of two courses. The par 3 Wistling Wind is great for our short game. Lake Breeze - the regulation course has its challenges but well designed for strategic golfers.
Great executive course to introduce young and new players to the game. It’s very walkable too - you don’t need a cart on whistling wind. The championship course is a great 9 hole course too.
Good course for beginners.
Will never come back to this course ever and according to the rude employee I was dealing with he doesn't care anyways. When someone who works at a place that makes you wait until you reach the cash area to then inform you that you need a mask and isn't wearing one himself, has to take the hypocrite of the year of the award. It would seem they believe that their safety is more important than yours. An establishment with thinking like that doesn't deserve any further business. 1 star is even overrated and will never go back. I will be sure to inform all many dozens of fellow golfers as well.
Great for 1st round this year.
Great course for a quick game! Staff is great, helped find my car keys that were not actually lost!
My first round of the season is always a nice little short course. WhistlingWind is perfect for that
Great mid-level 9hole course, anyone who expects the back 9 of Augusta.....should just go play Augusta. Definitely coming back soon
Overpriced- $95 for 2 people and a cart for 9 holes. Course is in bad shape. Spend the $ elsewhere.
Staffs are very supportive
We had the worst experience booking the banquet from this place just this summer. We liked the banquet with the green house attached to it and decided to have our party there and made a deposit to book the place. Then dealing with the event coordinator there was a nightmare. She had no sense of customer service. She was very cold and we always got a NO for an answer from her. Having the bar there would cost you an arm and a leg. NOt flexible at all. WE got the sense she did not want our business. So we decided to find another place for our event just one week before the date loosing our deposit. If you want to have a smooth event, stay away from this place!!!
Nice course. Fast fairways and greens. A little pricey for a nine hole course without cart and walking.
The course was well maintained. We enjoyed our visit. Definitely recommended.
I played the lake breeze course which is a double 9. Its a nice course with some challenging greens. Be prepared to lose your ball and spend some time finding it even on the fairways.
Teachers are wonderful!
Absolute horrible customer service have no consideration for your customers will not be coming back
Excellent course..great service..beautiful greens
Course was in good condition, Marshall was rushing us. Saw him 4 times in 9 holes. They charged me full price ( green fees and cart) for my 9 year old daughter to watch and ride with me. Needless to say I will not be going back or recommending this place to anyone..
Attended a wedding there, the staffs were nice. Just the floors need some maintenance. The ceremony holds in door,a bit hard for guests to watch the whole ceremony since the plants are divided the place in two. The good thing was , no one could disturb the newlyweds during the ceremony.
If you are of colour and playing foot golf DO NOT go to this place. We felt racially profiled from the second we walked in the front door. My group of four got profiled simply because our ball went in a creek of water. A woman golfing behind us (we asked the pair of them if they wanted to go ahead of us) felt threatened simply by one of us walking towards them. The staff at the course backed the woman up and kicked us off the course after telling us we are grieving the pair behind us. There were two other groups of players who were outraged at the staff for the same reason (one of which was not of colour and was a bystander of what happened). We felt racially profiled from the second we walked in the front door. I repeat this now to really emphasize that we were not acting out of order. Thank you for kicking us off your course because we were not the best at foot golf.
This could be a hard course, but it made those good shoots feel even better. It is a fun course ????????
Has a great 9 hole course for after work, love it.
Great little course!
After reading through multiple reviews and the owners copy paste response, i can only agree and say this course is unkempt with rude staff to boot! Do not waste your money as there are much better golf courses in Ajax.
Excellent conditions - well kept golf course.
Fantastic course and great staff. Will definitely return for more rounds!!!
