We (foursome) had a tee time for 830am on Sunday May 29th. We paid up and checked in at 810am, the man behind the counter told us we were up next. Our wives were getting our gear ready when the man from the clubhouse announced "-----foursome to the tee box". This was at 815am. So I panicked and dropped my coffee while getting my gear ready. 820am we are walking up to the tee box and the man announces "-----foursome I need you to start now or the other groups will fall behind because of you". Really? We have a tee time for 830am...we all are thrown off by this, but I enter the tee box hit my ball, then my friend does followed up by my wife. She mis-hits her ball and it rolls 2 feet off the tee. I tell her not to worry and try again. As she approaches the ball for her drive he announces "this isn't a driving range folks, pick it up and just play best ball". This is at 825am, I point to my watch and gesture - what's the problem. He announces "you are late". My friend went inside to talk to the man, while we walked out to my ball to play best ball (friends wife didn't even get to drive). This was done in front of other golfers and was rude and unprofessional. Where the golf etiquette!? We all were thrown off and continued to play despite the start. But we could not stop talking about it. This is the type of thing that discourages people from playing this wonderful sport. I'm lucky I have such a strong partner who won't be discouraged by this. We will continue our weekly golf tradition - but never again at Gleneagles. I also have reached out to the course to share my experience and no one has responded to my email.

Great course for a quick 9 holes. Grab a pull cart to make Cardiac Hill a little easier to climb. One of the best values for golf in the Lower Mainland

Fast, inexpensive, family seating overlooking golf course, and great food. I’d recommend the Orchard Club house restaurant. There’s indoor & outdoor seating. They are awaiting their liquor license so current hours are 9-4pm.

The course itself is beautiful and well-maintained. The problem lies with the staff. We had a negative experience with basically everyone who worked there. First off, we arrived 15 min early to our tee time only to be rushed onto the 1st tee as soon as I paid for our fees. Next, our group had 2 beginners and as soon as we get to the 2nd hole the course marshall was rushing our group very aggressively, going as far as picking up my playing partner's bag and bringing it to him when he left it on the far side of the green. We ended up playing mostly best ball, finishing the course in roughly 2 hours and 15 min. Then, at the end of our round, another course marshall informs us that we took "45 min" more than we should have and slowed down all the groups behind us and "next" time we should play faster. Well I don't think there will be a next time, but safe to say this course is not beginner-friendly.

They lost our business. Every time I went there the person in the pro shop has been very very rude. And today, when we went to check in and pay, he told my partner, not even addressing me, "She is not allowed to wear a tank top", looking at me with the most stern look in his eyes. It was rude, unprofessional, sexist and from a very archaic fashion code.

I have been playing at Gleneagles periodically (6-8 x year) for over 5 years. The staff are friendly, pro shop adequately supplied (for a 9 hole public course) and the Appleback grill has pleasing selections for a variety of tastes. Also a well positioned outdoor patio over looking the 6th fairway with peekaboo views of the ocean and direct sunset views over Howe sound. The course itself has enough variety and challenge for a multitude of levels. It accommodates novices as well as intermediates. The negative comments of cardiac hill and duffer's delight are not warranted. Both fairways offer balanced challenges for majority of golfers. It is a public 9 hole course, and under this stature, i would recommend it beyond most 9 hole public courses. It is kept in much better shape with more services and features than the vast majority of 9 hole courses (hence its ranking). Note to the wise... on sunny days, or holidays...book in advance - it fills up fast all the time. happy golfing!!

This is an excellent public course. very forgiving for beginners while still challenging for the regular golfer. green fees are a good deal and the course is well maintained. This course is great for an after work round.

Seems like a good venue for hosting private events at, if nothing else. I've got no clue about how good it is(n't) for golf, but birthday parties or whatever? If you're expecting a large crowd and you've got money to blow on stuff like venue rentals, try this place out. I guess.

This is a great course to play, especially if you only have time for 9. No carts, so you must walk and on a clear sunny day, the view are amazing. This course has had a pace of play issue as people think you can use it to learn how to play. You can't, it has its challenges. Big thing I want to say to the City of West Van is to make a deal with a restaurant operator that you can live with. It is so disappointing to not be able to enjoy a nice craft beer on the beautiful patio because no one can make a go of it in the facility.

One of the best hidden gems of Vancouver golf! Each of the 9 holes is unique and offers golfers a new challenge. This course is not to be taken lightly. It’s the perfect course for an after work round of golf. The grounds are incredibly well maintained and the facilities are top notch!

Booked a 5:27PM tee time as a foursome. One of our four was an out of town friend that we hadn't seen in awhile. At 5:26 our first, second and third teed off when the pro shop "attendant" came over the PA to announce we had to hurry up as there was groups behind us and it would get stacked up. Out fourth was teeing off now at 5:27 on the dot (WHICH WAS OUR TEE TIME). Unbelievable.... This was also after we heard the attendant come over the PA to tell golfers who were returning carts to return them to the other end of the line even though the lineup was directly outside the proshop door. We also heard him do this while we were putting on the 5th green. Talk about lazy and unprofessional. Perhaps stand up, open to door and speak with the clientele... -North Shore resident who will not be returning to Gleneagles

Arrogant staff without any service mind what so ever! Overpriced, no information about rates, no ladies tee boxes. Spend 15 minutes extra to go over the bridges and play somewhere else instead of wasting money on this mediocre 9 hole boring layout course!

The phone system needs to be improved. Their program kicks you out after 3 attempts to reach the pro shop for same day tee times. You have to keep redialing vs waiting on line for the next person to help you. The only golf course I know that has this useless system to contact the pro shop. Come on West Vancouver, I think you can afford to update your system to something more current.

Great golf course. There are some uphills you should expect to climb, but you can walk with clubs and it is not a big course. The view is beautiful and you can enjoy it while walking and playing.

The woman working in the pro shop was incredibly rude to me and my father who was visiting from out of town. Oh, and apparently it's a liability issue allowing me to walk alongside him while he plays- so I would have had to pay as well. We will go somewhere more welcoming instead.

A very good 9 hole track, well-maintained, that I play several times a year. My only suggestion is that they put in 150 yd markers on the par fours.
