Greens today at Kenogamisis can challenge Whitewater in Thunder Bay for softness and speed. Best I've played on all season. Very happy with Ferber bunkers and layout; a good challenge from Blues. If you are a long hitter try the Black tees. Thompson 9 with updated pine trees separating fairways are growing nicely. Course is in great shape. Hats off to the maintenance staff. I hope to play here again. I might walk the Ferber 9 for my 3rd visit to pace the yardage on my shoulders. Thompson 9 is easy to walk. Fond memories. Thanks

Great golf, great food, and great service! Has a great atmosphere! The staff is some of the best you’ll ever have, golf course is really fun, and very rewarding, and the food is to die for. Would strongly recommend!

What a huge disappointment! I am an avid Stanley Thompson design golfer. I try and play his tracks when and if I can and the front 9 here is his design while the back 9 is a Les Furber design (I tend to enjoy his layouts as well). The front 9 was what I expected from the Thompson layout; rolling fairways, small greens, short walks from green to tee box, and interesting smallish bunker complex. The back 9 was also what I have become accustomed to with Furber designs; wide fairways, large greens and large bunkers. Very much a resort style layout. The pro-shop staff was friendly enough but when I made the turn I went in to ask how one goes from the front to the back (assuming it was on the other side of the main road heading into town) as there was no signage what-so-ever. The look I received was as if I had more than one head... Had to rephrase y question twice until I got more than "the other side of the road". When I passed a worker in a bunker off the parking lot I was then pointed in the safe place to cross and in the direction of the 10th tee box. Course conditions were much better on the front than the back but still many weeds in all but the greens; the first cut of rough included 3 foot tall weeds so obviously mowing is not a priority. The back 9 frankly was just brutal as the weeds had taken over the fairways... It was a struggle to find and grass at all on 8 of 9 holes. Les Furber would be shocked to see what his 9 holes has become (I would remove my name from the course if I were him). I would gather that this course is having major financial troubles and maintaining such a large track of land in such a remote area in Northern Ontario can be very challenging. The season must be short and getting there is not a short drive. There is also the issue that once you play here you would never return to play the back 9... Save your money for now... they might be better off giving up on the back 9 and improving the playing conditions on the front 9. 2 Stars for the layout and potential... not for current playing conditions.
