Beautiful golf course

Played here for the first time from the back tees. This course is in superb condition. No two holes are the same. Unique routing, challenging greens, and a great test. Can't wait to go back. Kudos to the course grounds crew, superintendent, and pro shop staff. They even helped me and my buddy out so we could walk.

Gorgeous albeit challenging course. The course was quite wet but this is expected in September eh? Really wonderfully designed course with interesting holes and quite lovely floral. The fescue? Fuhgeddabout it. Take the drop! Lovely clubhouse and pro shop. Very high quality here right down to the egg salad sandwiches at the turn.

Was a guest at a fall wedding this year... Food was okay, hordurves blah. Inside was nice, liked the separation from the bar/lounge area. Outside porch is just concrete and they allow carts to go by mid ceremony, watch out for afternoon sun.

This used to be a favourite course of mine, but now with the drastic price increase, insane amount of ball marks on the greens and lack of service on the course (no cart service when we played) there is not much reason to justify going here anymore unless there are no tee times anywhere else.

Very nice course with some strong holes that make you think. A great mix of long difficult ones where par is a good score (1, 4, 9, 12, 14, 16, 18) and some great birdie chances (5, 7, 8, 10, 11, 13). I would rate the course 5 stars if they did something a bit better with holes 9 and 18

Beautiful golf course. Surrounded by trees, there are sand pits and water ponds dotted on the course. Very refreshing and relaxing. Near the entrance of the club is a driving range open to public. There is also a big club house for event booking, e.g. wedding.

My husband and I became members for the second year in a row. While the staff at Royal Ontario are great, part of our membership includes Royal Niagara. We had a terrible experience there with staff and will never go again. I complained to Kaneff Golf and the membership team at Royal Ontario. They promised to look into it but we did not hear back from anyone. Excuses all around, the customer is wrong and the staff do not care what they say to you. Management will side with the staff, not the client. My husband and I have never had such poor treatment at any venue in the world. This club has much to learn about customer service and management. We will not be members again.

Save your money for another course actually worth it. What a joke. They put sand on the greens mid season during a 6:50 AM tee time ... ruined the fun of putting. Classic Kaneef go to pipers across the street.

Went for a wedding reception. Venue was nice. Bar staff was argumentative and rude...especially the "manager" who was a kitchen person really. Not impressed at all. Teach staff cultural equates or do not cater to such events.

I dont mind paying $129 for a round and cart if its going to be a first class experience but ROGC offers nothing to justify the outrageous cost. The course is average and the groundskeepers have done nothing to tend the rough so if your ball strays 6" off the fairway it's lost resulting in frustrated golfers and long waits. I can appreciate challenging rough if its nicely tended fescue like Pipers Heath down the road but ROGC was nothing but a jungle of weeds, thistles and bushes giving you no opportunity to work your way out of trouble. The first time I played there a few years ago on a busy weekend the round took 6 HOURS. Yesterday I gave it another shot on a quiet Thursday afternoon and well over 5hrs. Lastly I would expect that a course at that price would have some of the nicer touches you get at the better clubs like GPS. The layout and course condition was average. If I paid half the price I would consider it good value but for $130 save your money and go elsewhere.

My brother had his wedding here last fall and I completely oppose golf courses for environmental reasons, but it was lovely as a wedding venue. The food quality was surprising and the indoor amenities were beautiful and luxurious.

I think the designer of this course was in a really bad mood when he drew it. Hard, difficult course and not a lot of fun to play. The course was also not in great shape. Tee boxes were basically bunkers there was so much sand, and a lot of the greens had big dead patches of grass. I don't recommend this course.

Blue 98. $100 middle of day, not bad. Right from the start you get a good feel that this course is for good golfers only however it started out with a slow PoP and stayed that way until we skipped a hole and then it was wide open otherwise it likely would have been a 5 hour round - not cool. Many holes are tight and similar to Legends at Lionhead and have similarly peppered and beated up greens but they roll true and are challenging- I like this. And many greens are hard to hit since you must go up and over water and weeds. Overall i’d go back again, especially in the Fall since the entire course is dense with hardwood, it would be like playing in the Taboo

Course itself is in good shape. I like to play 9 holes late afternoon. Heads up - Don't go on a Monday or Tuesday. No food, no course cart to even be able to get water.. Went out on a very hot afternoon assuming I would be able to get Water or a Beverage on the course when required as I do anywhere else but when I eventually called the pro shop from my cart on the course to see where the cart person was to get some water, I was told there was not one and when we got back, the bar/restaurant wasn't open either... As a customer service courtesy, if service is going to be lacking, I think the least they can do when checking in is to let me know that there is no cart service available so I should get what I need before I head out (like water on a hot day!!!) I would gladly have done that if I had known that information ahead of time and then there wouldn't have been an issue. Communication is the important key here....

Beautiful secluded 18 hole course, it's unbelievable that this exists so close to the GTA. Kal and Brian, two of the managing staff were amazing and took care of everything we needed at our company golf tournament. And Matt, the head chef, prepared a wonderful dinner to end the night.

I just recently had my daughter's first birthday there and it was absolutely amazing and easy!!! Matt and his team took care of every last detail, they made sure that everything was perfect and that all my guests were taken care of. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. The servers were amazing. The views are to die for!!!!! Loved absolutely everything about the day!! Thank you Matt and the Royal Ontario team for making my daughter's first birthday special, and for making mama's day easy!!

VERY SHADY. Was at a charity tournament and had a range finder stolen by one of the workers after I left it in my cart. When I tried to track it down, they made very like effort to help and made it seem like there was no way it was going to show up. Course was in good shape. Fun layout with a couple odd golf holes, I would recommend going to a course with a more trustworthy staff.

Closest course to my place (Along with Piper's Heath, Wyldewood, Lionhead... All worth playing in their own right). Played here several times. Layout of the course is fantastic, terrain is used beautifully. Fairways are wide, but misses quickly find thick forest or knee high brush. Water comes into play on many holes. Good course, definitely not boring. Can play slow during weekends (tough course + weekends + kaneff).

Course was open, but narrow. 9 and 18 are super tough if you are off more than 20 degrees. Lots of wildlife seen. We had gone in the evening so we got eating alive by the mosquitos i mean i counted 10 and it really threw me off.

We got married here in September and it was perfect! From the beginning planning with Kelly was easy and she was very responsive. Clear communication for planning both ceremony and reception. Head Chef Matt and his staff took wonderful care of us the day of. The food quality and friendly service were both exceptional, with many compliments from our guests. The venue was beautiful, good value, couldn't be happier.

I'd give it 4.5 stars if that was an option. Greens are great, and rest of course also kept in good shape. The only reason that it's not 5 stars is that you'll lose a dozen balls if you don't hit straight...and if you do, you'll still lose a few. Tough track.

Hell of a track. Played on Father's Day, the course was in great shape. They have hands down the most friendliest staff and marshalls. The course is definitely challenging. I would consider my self a semi-pro and shot a 112. The 9th and 18th hole are beautiful, good thing too because they took me for 20 strokes. I highly recommend and will be back!

My kids were married there 3 weeks ago. Food was fantastic. Venue was clean. Service was horrible for price paid. After the event they were told they were short staffed, and how hard it is to find workers. Receiving table not set up, table to sign wedding documents not set up, they ran out of the couples preferred drink, fountain on the 18th and lights not working. Staff told them they haven't worked in years. My thought is if service staff are hard to find then tell people that so they can come prepared to fill in missing service and offer a discount.

I was the captain of my high school golf team and this is the most challenging golf course I have ever played. It's very well kept, but it punishes you for almost every shot choice. It's also unrelenting. No easy holes. Hazards and bunkers everywhere. This course would be an excellent choice for a best ball tournament.

I’m a first time golfer and went with my father-in-law and two brothers-in-law. We weren’t moving quickly, but we were letting anyone who caught up to us play through without hesitation so that we wouldn’t hold anyone else up. The staff began to absolutely harass us. They approached us 3-4 times between holes 6-9 and kept telling us to hurry up (despite the fact that we were deliberately allowing anyone past us in order to not hold anyone up). The staff approached us again after the ninth hole. The staff were also very rude to us on the process of this despite our graciousness and politeness and never arguing with them. We were going out of our way to be respectful and polite and only drinking water while we played. As an American, I was raised to believe that Canadians are a nice, polite people, however my experiences over the last few months have shown that this impression was dead wrong as the vast majority of Canadians whom I have encountered have been insanely rude and obnoxious - and the staff at the Royal Ontario Golf Club were even worse than the average Canadians whom I have encountered here during my travels. Do NOT go to the Royal Ontario Golf Club unless you are very quick in your game and don’t mind being snubbed by the staff.

This is a typical Kaneff very well maintained golf course. I, personally would not look at this course for a beginner. It is challenging enough for a average to a good golfer. The fairways are in excellent condition and the greens are true and tricky. One of my favourite courses.

Played in a Wishes Take Flight fund raising tournament here. It was very well run on the part of the organizers, meshing very well with the services of the course. Driving range, putting greens, cart services and when you were done the food from the kitchen was great and a beautiful patio to sit out on and watch as groups came up 9 and 18. The course was in good shape and challenging but fair for my game. For those trying to grab some food at the turn, this seemed to be a frustratingly long process with many opting not today to wait times, and service.

This course is truly nothing special. Hadn't played it in 6+ years and I remember why. For the price it's just not worth it. The course, the club house, the staff everything looks like they've just stopped caring about the maintenence and upkeep of the facility. Do yourself a favour, for $20 more go play Piper's Heath litterally across the street.
