If you’re planning a wedding, this is the venue for you. I found out about Southwood Golf club 3 weeks before my wedding. I called over 10 golf clubs in the city. And the only call back I got was from Brett, the food and beverage Manager. This guy was such a blessing. Communication with him was such a breeze. But what I loved the most about my experience dealing with Brett is how professional he was. As you know, bride to be tend to want everything to be perfect on their wedding day and I wasn't any different. He was so patient and his demeanour never changed. On the wedding day, Brett and the golf course manager worked so hard to make sure everything went well. They where hands on. Making sure all guests have been served, the manager went on and actually serve our wedding guests. The waitresses where amazing. Okay lets talk Venue. The venue is absolutely BEAUTIFUL. Having the St. Norbert Ruins near by, makes it even special. Because now you don't have to drive far for photos. They gave us golf carts to use when we went to the St. Norbert Ruins for photos. The food is exactly that, DELICIOUS. We had heard so many good things about their chef but you have to actually experience and taste the meal your self. Literally everyone is so friendly and you can feel that welcome atmosphere all around when you walk into the golf club. Our wedding went so well. And we want to send our out-most gratitude to the whole team that made our wedding day go by smooth. Thank you for all your hard work. My husband and I highly recommend this place.

Seriously, if you're planning a wedding and thinking of Southwood you are 100% on point. This venue is absolutely GORGEOUS, especially with the St. Norbert Ruins near by. You are going to have an incredible time. The staff is all very friendly and the food served at the reception was delicious. We can't wait to photograph another wedding here because of how beautiful it is here.

This is a five star course with probably the nicest practice facility in the province. Having said that it is not a favorite to play as it is always windy and the fescue grass makes balls that are even six inches wide of the fairway unfindable. This just adds unecessary frustration for amateur players.Trees in this windy province provide so much shelter and this course has none. The course maintenance is excellent. Our group had a meal after the round and found the food to be just ok. Here is a pic of the group in front of us on the course. They were constantly frustrated that they couldn't find their ball in the fescue...(and they are professional athletes!)

A great track but I have an issue with the course design. There's an "out of bounds" on the left side on the dog leg left par 5 fourteenth hole that runs parallel to the par 4 fifteenth hole. On a brand new course with ample room right, there should not be an "out of bounds" rule in the middle of the golf course. This is just poor golf course design. Other than that, the course is in excellent shape. It has one of the best practice facilities I have ever seen.

I'm a member at Southwood, so have to admit to some bias, but it's a great place to be - awesome staff, wonderful club facilities and an amazing course that offers something for all golfers. And the condition of the course just keeps getting better every year! You've got to try it! (Updated with an additional photo that I took. Also should note that I was not asked to post this review.)

Great experience all around. So much to like here. Pro shop staff are top notch, and were super helpful in fitting me for new clubs. The course is extremely well maintained, and is approachable for new golfers, but also challenging for low handicappers. Great practice facilities to get yourself ready before a round, or just to get some time in on a lunch hour. Speaking of lunch hour, there is a new Chef in the kitchen, and the food is now on par with the rest of the course. tl;dr Awesome course, awesome staff, awesome food.

Had to plan a celebration of life with little notice and Southwood Country Club stepped up huge!!!! From the planning to the catering, everything was 6 stars on a scale of 1-5. Tyler was awesome to work with and I will recommend to anyone!!!

My wife and I were married at Southwood in January 2016. The venue is beautiful and the large windows overlooking the course made for a perfect backdrop. We spent little money on decorations because the venue was nice enough on its own and did not require any additional decorations. The bar was a big selling point for us when we went to see the venue. We received many compliments on the food (we went with the buffet) and the chef was helpful when we met with him to decide on a menu. Jeff, the manager, was very helpful and accommodating as well. He responded to every email and provided a lot guidance which made planning easier for us. Overall, we could not have been happier with our decision to have the wedding at Southwood. We would strongly recommend this venue to others and hope to be back again as guests for a wedding.

It is difficult to build a course with character on the flat plains of Winnipeg. This links style course is in very good condition except for half of the bunkers! Very inconsistent amounts of sand. Other than that the layout is very open and fair. The greens roll well with decent undulations. If you like tree-lined courses, this course isn't for you. There is only one hole with trees in play. Southwood is very scorable however it's only defense is the potential of extreme winds.

Beautiful prarie links course. Very well maintained with an excellent practice facility and top of the line clubhouse. Would be 5 stars but the one knock I have is their booking system is a "lottery system". This is where you give a range of times when you would like to start your round and the. They get back to you with what time you've "won" a couple days before. I don believe it is a random selection, in reality it must be more like a seniorty selection of sorts.
