First, I have to say that we LOVE staying at this hotel. We have two kids, 3 and 6, who adore the pool area. The key selling feature is that the water and the pool area is so warm. It actually feels like a warm summer day in there. We were in the pool for 3 hour stretches with NO blue lips or shivering. The water features and lazy river kept the kids entertained for hours on end. The large waterslide is pitch black inside though, so it's a little scary, especially because you slow down at one spot, which triggered a little anxiety attack for me. The staff were friendly and accommodating, the king suite room is great if you want to stay up after the kids go to sleep, the outdoor activities are lovely (we've only been in winter), and if you go during the week, the room rates are way cheaper and the hotel is way less busy. We had the entire pool area to ourselves at times. My reason for taking away a star is that the place could use some updates. We have been here twice and I could definitely see quite a bit of deterioration from the first to the second time. Upgrades are definitely needed. The wallpaper was peeling in the rooms, sink was leaking, windows were dripping water. These things would not deter me from going because the kids had an absolute blast! Just want to give the full picture! TIP: Take some hot dogs and marshmallows and rent a fire pit. It's a nice way to enjoy the outdoors and save a little money on a meal. It's $8 for a sack of fire wood, delivered by the staff.

After 6 days of camping sleeping on a king size bed was perhaps the greatest thing ever. Room was newly renovated and clean. Shower was amazing (but considering I was just coming off camping...). Definitely an older crowd at this place so don't go looking for a party anywhere.

Enjoyed my drive there, that was cool to be at the edge like that. We first checked in and were a wee bit late for our spa treatment. Our front desk clerk checked us in but didn't give us a map or explain anything to us. We did ask if he could let the spa know we would be late. That wasn't done. The spa treatment was amazing!!! That is a 8 /10. The only thing that would've made it great is if they had fresh water for us. The hotel is definitely looking its age. We went down one of the trails, which was nice but was saddened when it wasn't labeled, how long or 1/2 way point to our destination which was a lighthouse. The second part of the trail had these big rocks and made it very hard to walk on. The seagulls' restaurant was good, some was way overpriced. I'll be posting pictures also. Our rooms were nice, but housecleaning definitely has to be a little more up on the cleaning times. I was very disappointed as this was the main reason we went was the huge tub. I was so looking forward to drinking my wine and just relaxing, had bought a bath fizz bomb from gimil to soak in. No hot water, i was super upset. My husband had told the front desk and they were gonna let us borrow another rooms tub, but no one came and told us. The next morning apparently there was a problem with the hot water in that room, so i asked the front desk for a discount from management and they gave me $30. That wasn't what i had hopped for, but i took it. Will i go again?? if the price goes down and i'm guaranteed hot water in my huge tub, then yes! I found the price to be overpriced when you could go to the provincial cabins down the road for way less.

As an Icelander I loved the Nordic style to the resort. Me and my mom spent the day in Hecla and decide to have coffee at the restaurant. The first thing we noticed when coming in was the fresh natural smell of the common room. We discovered that this was caused from a natural stream flowing through then building. Amazing!

The property is fabulous and the modernization is lovely. Great bathrooms and beds. The cleanliness of the facility is not what you expect at an upscale resort. Common areas have peeking wallpaper. The service levels are mediocre but friendly. The place has potential but it needs some work.

Golf course is one of the finest in the province. The Head Pro Sandy is a real treat. If you get the chance to speak with him...buckle up as he has stories for days. The golf crew has been doing an annual trek to the course and resort every year for the past few years. It never disappoints.

Nice course overall, but aside from a few holes, not the most interesting course out there. It's hard to justify the drive and price when there are other better courses, closer to Winnipeg. That said, it is in pretty good shape and if you are going to the resort or are in Gimli, it's worth the play.

Great, well maintained course. Bare bones staff and on-course service is pretty much non-existent. Halfway hut makes a good burger. 4 stars for a great golf course with a traditional course layout. Would be a 5 star course if it took better advantage of holes along water.

Beautiful well maintained 18-hole course. Clubs, carts, and pull carts all available for rental. Stock up on beverages at the clubhouse because the drink cart doesn't come around often. Online booking for tee times is very convenient.

Beautiful course.. Ultra rude Marshalls. Played an 18, rushed on the 9 at 2 hour mark with a group of four. Pretty ridiculous. Have people in front we have waited for on every hole.. maybe push the people ahead? And no drink cart.. on a Saturday.

Hmm...where should I start...the room was BEAUTIFUL! ....The food was great....everything else felt very low end...peeling wallpaper....dirty ..VERY DIRTY adult spa area...we couldn't sleep because of the loud fan ..and had to sleep in the lobby...at 4:30 am we were offered a new room...which was dirty(beds unmade bathroom used)..then switched to a suite....with people in it! This resort NEEDS new management.

The hotel itself is quite nice and offers snowshoeing and cross country skiing in the winter. Was not impressed with the cleanliness though. The duvet cover does not get cleaned! There was a huge crusty yellow stain on it that would probably come out if it was washed. The bed was intentionally made with the stain facing the flat sheet so you wouldn't notice it right away. But it was large enough that hotel staff would have HAD to notice it when making the bed, but chose to hide it or ignore it. It disturbs me that the easily removed duvet covers are not washed or changed for each new guest checking in.

Beautiful place to visit but hotel rooms are not in great shape.We stayed there for Victoria day long weekend, our room had old couch, broken shower, dryer was not working, main doors lock had some issues, internet was a joke, it was not working at all.Nobody came to fix these things during our stay.But we really liked the restaurant, pools, walking trails and sceneries.We paid $146 for this room but really disappointed with the room condition. We told the receptionist about these issues when we were checking out but she said ok we will fix them.They had very bad customer service as well.Not coming back for sure.

Literally the best public course in Manitoba. I know it was ranked 25th in Canada at one point and that's impressive as it has to compete with the BC courses. Course is in great shape, the staff went out of their way to make our experience more enjoyable, the carts are quiet and fast and it wasn't even expensive! Hecla is such a relaxing place to spend a weekend. Do yourself a favor and make the 2.5 hour drive out to play a round. You won't regret it.

I think it's great here... such a nice escape only 2 hours from Winnipeg. The price is great for the quality of the rooms. There are lots of options for nature walks and birding around the resort. The ambience of the building itself is great... it has a really lovely lobby, and the adult salt/hot pool area is fantastic (family area great too). It has a few quirks, for example, the indoor stream often doesn't run, but overall it's very nice.

My wife and could not believe the amount of money we spent for what we received for our “ weekend getaway” 1. The only reason why this resort got a rating of 1 was the massage for my self and the manicure for my wife. Service was very good and product was worth the money. 2. We paid 140 per night for the room and we had the following problems: a. Flooring was cracked and falling apart, trim was distoryed in places. b. The amount of moisture and condensation coming off the windows required us to use towels to prevent the water from getting into the room. c. The ceiling had water stains and blistering from condensation damage, I’ve stayed in 80 dollars per night room at a road side motel that was in better condition than this room. 3. The 18 years and over pool area was so over crowded by 16 year olds, we could not enjoy the facilities as they were marketed by the web site. The pool liner in the mineral poll is buckling and in disrepair. Overall the resort needs to be shut down for a serious make over for the prices they are charging. We completely regret staying here and wished we saved our 600 dollars we paid for the two nights we were here. I highly recommend that you find somewhere else to spend a weekend away, this place is way to expensive for what you get.
