This is a fun course. Not particularly difficult but nice long fairways. Greens are a little rough, otherwise this would be my favourite course.

Ryan Unrau

The greens are more brown. Overall the course isn't super well maintained. You get what you pay for.

Nice enough course, can't really do much about geese i guess but lol there's a lot of em. My big issue is with the old man "supervisor" i guess you'd call him. My first day ever playing for points on an EMPTY course, meaning there was NO ONE behind or in front of us, he began heckling ME for looking for my ball after a drive. He said there was no way I could finish 9 holes before they closed (after about an hour I was on hole 5 and they didn't close for 3 more hours...) and suggested we play "best ball" to speed things up. I never wanted to golf on a course out of fear that I would slow things down but I was actually doing very well, especially for my first day out, and this old dude was my living nightmare lol. Without that guy I'd probably give this place 4 stars, its a shame that staff can ruin the vibe of a place so bad...

Chelsea Nguyen

Understandable that courses may be dry because of the Manitoba drought however poor maintenance at canoe club is beyond that. No difference between rough and fairway grass in terms of length and thickness. Many of the greens have large bare dirt patches. But the biggest turn off was the staff member's grumpy attitude. Hostile remarks all throughout the interaction. Go to literally any other golf course in the city and you'll have a better experience.

Chris Donaghey

Fairways dry, but greens in great shape

Brad Nechwediuk

The course is terrible and not worth the money.

Chad

Stephen Hrynick

Poorly managed clubhouse.. willingly turned away clients... What is the point of booking a tee time if it can not be kept? Far too expensive for the overall condition of the course... Fairway was unkempt and indifferentiable from the rough. Greens were full of weeds, unwatered for weeks possibly. This is not a club.. just a scam.. Don't bother..

Shebaz Malek

Vitali Melcher

Randy Plett

Well certainly not worth the money to golf here. Fairways are brutal and hard. Greens are so bad you can't even predict were your ball will go and half the greens had no grass on 25% of the greens. Not recommended

Decent Golf Course for a Reasonable Price. The course was not to long, good course for beginners to moderate golfers. The greens could have been better kept, but overall good golf course. 2021: Went back this year, the greens were in pretty rough shape (i.e. brown) and there was tons of maintenance going on while we were playing as well as sprinklers going off on two of the nine holes.

David Beakley

Needs a little TLC but still a great course for a quick afternoon round. Awesome for beginners, only lose 5 to 11 balls.

Евгений Русско

employees not loyal, grass never good

nice course in the city. it would be nicer if the grass wasnt as dry.

course in poor shape

Alex De Groot

Quite Terrible. Grassless patches on the green feel more like an intended feature than bad care taking and sand traps are all grown in with grass. Puddles of water all over the course from a malfunctioning sprinkler system that I guess isn't in the budget to fix. Caretaking staff are doing an awful job as the whole place is a mess but they seem to be everywhere more than happy to make noise and get in the way of your shots because... they like driving around I don't know. That being said the layout is nice and the location is incredibly convenient, if taken care of this could be a great course. As it stands I can't in good faith recommend.

Marty

This is the worst golf course I've ever played!!! They have tree roots on the greens and literally no grass, it's all dead brown turf and it's been like this for years. They put no money or effort into upkeeping this course and it's a total waste of money

Tony K. Noubahar

This place is ok for a quick game. The staff are very friendly.

Devin Bray

Worst golf course in Winnipeg. Tee boxes littered with old tees and cigarette butts. Fairways dryer and harder than limestone. Greens had more sand on them than grass, and tree roots growing up through the greens on 5 of the 9 holes. Course is in deplorable condition. Don't waste your time and money.

I love this place! The Canoe Club is a 9 hole course which is perfect for the beginner golfer. This is a stress free course and it is hard to lose your golf ball. For a great price, this the best place for a quick round with some friends.

Evan Marykuca

Good small course for a quick 9.

nilo manalo

It's my 2nd time to golf and this place will never fail you to relax the scenery.

Jason Krahn

A little more love and care would go a long way. Course was designed by a sadist.

Awful turf. Never have I ever seen a golf course with no in ground sprinklers. I think it might be time to invest in some.

The Canoe Club is a nice little nine hole course in Winnipeg's South end. It seems to be in great shape this year, it isn't too long for my son to play and it is still pretty challenging. It is also minutes from South St. Vital so very convenient.

Just golfed here on aug 22 2020 Reading the reviews left me uncertain on whether or not this would be a good course or not. After golfing 9 holes I have pros and cons. Pros: cheap as it gets ( I payed 24$ for a round of 9 pull cart and 2 beverages ), nice views ( on this course your first 2 holes are along side the river which was beautiful then you play alongside the road which was fine on that side of the road there were very nice ponds), staff was exceptionally kindly greeting and friendly I remember leaving the building and saying to myself “what a nice guy”) Cons: golf course greens have seen a better day ( greens were horribly maintained with mud patches yellow patches leaving you with a lot of challenge to sink your put ), This course is on 2 sides of a bridge ( good news is you can walk under the bridge but it’s not the most ideal for walking ) Overall: I would go to this course over most of the 9 holes in winnipeg but leaving the greens rotting made it hard to sink in puts and enjoy my short game I think with a little love this course could easily be one of the better courses in the city.

Simon Lambert

Dying golf club. 2018 season should be their last.

For a little city owned golf course with almost no staff, it is in amazingly good shape. While not a Pine Ridge or a St.Charles, you can have an enjoyable 2 hour round. Problems they had with the condition of the greens a few years ago seem to have been overcome.

Fry

Caleb Calvert

The greens were horrendous and unplayable. Unfortunate :( put more work into the greens as that really hampers the whole experience.

Horrible !!.....1 green was actually green. Branches were actually coming up through the greens, don't even ask about fairway. Tee box too hard to stick your tee in.

M Prince

This could be a really nice course. Sadly it's poorly maintained. The greens are what you'd expect a decent fairway to be like.

I have to say this is a great place to play 9 holes in the middle of the city. It’s challenging but also was perfect for my wife who is just starting out with golf. The staff was great and they even showed us a new trick when buying a new glove. I never knew that you should make a fist before closing your glove. Very knowledgeable and friendly. We had a lot of fun and the only reason I’m not giving it a higher rating is because I got a bit confused when trying to go to the other side of the course for the last 4 holes. The course is placed in in between the highway and you have to go under a bridge. No one’s fault, just inconvenient. All in all, we had a lot of fun at the canoe club golf course and will definitely be back.

I have to say, I was originally going to give this course a different review a little bit ago. But playing the canoe club golf course again yesterday made me change my mind. They have done an exceptional job with the course since I last played here. This is the best place in the city to do 9 holes when you want to go somewhere close. Great course!

Aaron

Course is in rough rough shape. Just seems like no one cares to maintain it. Greens are 'ok'. Rest of the course is goose poop right now. Used to love this place - but I think the most recent visit is the last. Hard ground everywhere, dry etc. One of the holes was full of water and it hasn't rained in awhile.. Not draining properly. Lots of issues. Anyone else posting who says this is course is in minty shape simply hasn't been to... Well.. Pretty much any other course in and around Winnipeg.

Gil Mayer

Horrendous fairways and greens. Actual holes and tree roots on the greens. Will never return.

Garth Barnett

It's the worst golf course I've ever played on..

As a new golfer this course was amazing. Not only was the course great, the staff were very friendly. I will definitely be back to play here!

Denis Baril

Had a good day but the tee off boxes and greens are in terrible shape.

If you are looking for a golf course with ample tree roots in play on the greens, look no further! Poorly maintained course and rude, disorganized staff. Possibly the worst course I’ve been to in Manitoba as a whole. Wouldn’t recommend to anyone. Edit: **thank you Canoe Club for commenting on when my review was made as it is now end of season, therefore questioning the validity of it; I wasn’t aware there was a required timeline of when I could make it. Goes to show that you are not able to handle criticism and instead trying to discredit the review itself. Have a good off season, I encourage your staff to do some training in customer service during that time.

Christian Anders

This is such a beautiful hole and my favourite at the canoe club golf course. It follows the river on the right side, and sadly I lost my first ball because I didn't think it was that close. The course is so much fun, I went the other morning when we took this shot. Pretty challenging course for only being nine holes. One of the holes on the other side (I can't remember which one) was very long. Being an intermediate player I would recommend this course to anyone trying out golf but are not keen on those small par 3 courses. Great location (actually splits with the highway) and fun to play.

Ky Ma

Wonderful place... high class

Have returned a few times. Course is always in good condition. It is a short, but an enjoyable 9 holes. I don't have a lot of time (with 2 young children), and enjoy this course for it's centralized location and quick play. Deffinately recommend.

Sandra Mackey

Excellent golf course! I can’t stress enough how much better this course has gotten. I played here at the canoe club golf course about a month ago and understood what the mixed reviews were about. I guess a lot of the reviews were from a while ago … because the course plays really good right now! I love this course. It’s close to everything and is quite a challenging 9 hole course. #6 is still a doozy. Very long and you have to guess where the green is because of the long curve to the hole behind the trees. Such a beautiful hole. I would definitely recommend people come and play here for a quick nine. We had so much fun yesterday!

Golfed Windsor park and canoe club all in the same afternoon. Truthfully canoe club was in better shape than Windsor. Big improvements being made with course conditions.

Worst course I've ever played at. Wouldn't play it again if it were free.

Marcus Maneluk

This is a really poorly managed course, I've never seen a course in such poor condition that was open to the public. Aside from the severely damaged greens, tee boxes and dry fairways we had to play through greens that were actively being watered with hoses strewn in front of the greens blocking play. The hoses and sprinklers were arranged in a way that caused water to pool all over the greens making them entirely unplayable. Anyone that's golfed knows the courses are watered in the early hours of the morning and at the end of the day. Despite this we were charged full price and course staff are not up front about the condition of the course when booking. We expressed our concerns to the staff and they were dismissive and claimed every course is in this condition (and this couldn't be further from the truth). This 9 hole course has great potential that will never be realized under the management group in place. Do yourself a favour and avoid this course at all costs.

Brian Hendricks

This was my first time here even though I pass this place everyday. The course looked great and the staff was very friendly! I will definitely be playing this course again.

Eugene Kowalchuk

This golf course is in very poor condition May 8. The Greens are half brown and there is no evidence that any irrigating has been done. Old tree stumps are showing through the dry turf on some greens. Ball washers have not been installed.

Every year I play this course, hoping they will improve it a bit. It just gets worse. My theory is they want it to die off so they can build condos. Too bad, it's a beautiful city spot!

Miki Miki

Be ready for the first drive on the first hole...It's a par 4, about 350 yards with a lovely creek 1/2 way to the green..the Red River hugs the right side...have fun and play well...refreshments, sandwiches and golf gear available in the clubhouse...a few tables under the trees...nice place...friendly staff...

Adam Nielsen

Very inexpensive golf. The course is usually in good shape.

John Kong

Slow and rude service in the club house Golf course is not well maintained

For 9 holes at a good price, you can't beat this place. It's usually a bit rough in places but I like going here to practice early in the summer.

The greens are in terrible shape!!!

This was one of the worst courses I've ever been too. The course design is terrible. The greens were like putting on a broken fringe and not properly rolled. The fairways were rock solid. Everything about this course was absolutely terrible. Save your money

This course is in such poor shape, we laughed the whole time. There are far better courses for a similar price point - I definitely wouldn’t return, but you don’t know until you try!
