I have had many fitments done over the years and I have always felt like I had make this work, rather than it being second nature. Jeff did an awesome job helping me find the right combo in feel and numbers, but more importantly the demo setup and the actual build of the club was identical. I ended up on the Callaway Epic Sub Zero and Fujikura 661 EVO III. I highly recommend doing the SST Pure as on mine the stability improved 76% in the shaft and you do receive a PDF showing you the numbers.

All the staff at Modern Golf have very good customer service. Jeff Johnson in particular is very knowledgeable, patient, helpful and kind. Just the type of solid person you would want to be helping you with such a big decision. There was no pressure to buy the most expensive product or specific brand. I really got the feeling that he was there to help me get the best fit for my game. I started off getting irons fitted and eventually got my fairways and driver done. I very much recommend coming here to get your club fitting done.

Had a golf fitting with Corey, the lead instructor and fitter. The place was great to get a lot of data and feedback not just for how your equipment would suite you but also your swing. Corey was really helpful and allows you to just get a feel for what you are testing with insights as sought. They have a ton of options and direct connections with brands (which unfortunately means they only usually have the latest models). There's a lot more you can do with them than just get new clubs so hopefully I'll get to check them out in the future. I wish there would be some more service after you get your clubs.

Have sent 2 friends in for putter fittings and seen remarkable results. Jeff has been through top training at places like PING labs for these sorts of things and it shows. I've personally had many sets spec'd and adjusted by Modern with no issues.

I had a great experience with Modern Golf and ending up get a new set of irons/wedges. You get a pretty relaxed sessions swinging a handful of golf clubs. Based on data, they were able to prescribe me some clubs, shafts and provide me with a report of how each club's swing results. I highly recommend you book a session with them!

I received a recommendation from a friend to Modern, waited several years to book (I live out of town) and was excited for the day to arrive. First off, the service is incredible - 6 stars. Ruel was an amazing fitter, taking TWICE my allotted time to make sure he fit me correctly. He followed up on several occasions, was incredibly honest and accommodating to my requests and ensured my needs were met. I couldn't recommend him/Modern more. The reason for a 4 star rating is I was under the impression Modern was the most thorough fitting place around (which it is). However, they did not have a spectacular selection of irons and shafts in stock to hit. I was expecting (perhaps incorrectly) to have access to any clubhead and shaft combination I hoped. They lacked several models and did not have any clubs from several brands. Again, the service is unrivaled from my experience. The only detraction is the inability to actually be fit to all the major clubhead and shaft brands.

This is a great facility, and the steps that I went through for an iron shaft fitting was great. I was with Ruel (spelling?) for my session, he was polite and professional, and even offered a couple tips for my swing. Unfortunately, this is where I have to end the positives. I actually had to call the facility to get my results from my session as Ruel (spelling?) had completely forgotten to send me them. When reviewing the results, I noticed that all but one sample of shafts and irons were not included. I was recommended new shafts, which is what I was there for, but subtly included was new club heads even though I made it clear that new iron heads was not going to happen as I just bought my current set. What's funny, is that I made it crystal clear that I had a lot more business coming there way. I needed to address my gap distance after I upgraded my shafts, that I was in the market for new hybrids, and that I was buying new shafts. What's even crazier, is that they let me walk out without ordering the new shafts, even though I was telling them I was ready to buy immediately. I've already written off the money I spent on the fitting session, and will be finding an alternate place to get a new session. With all the reviews, I clearly got something completely different than what other people received when they were visiting the store. Honestly looking back on it, the whole session felt like I wasn't being taken seriously. My time with the Trackman was great, but it's not like Modern Golf holds a monopoly on this machine.

This place is unreal! Jeff Johnson is incredibly knowledgeable and equally as warm and welcoming. If you are considering getting fitted, it really does make a massive difference. Since getting fitted, I've had my two lowest scores of the season. I strongly recommend this place 100%, they have state of the art simulators, fitting equipment and the most current training and expertise. The amount of frustration it will save you on the course is worth every penny!

I was fortunate enough to be introduced to this place via social media. Appointment was made over the phone with Jeff and was informed that it would be an 1.5 hour session and that I would be hitting a lot of balls (understatement, by the way). You may not think much about that but trust me, you need to be prepared for this. I've been fitted before for irons and drivers but nothing of this calibre. I think I was in awe immediately walking in to this place. Shafts adorn the walls of this place and it is a very cool sight and room. Jeff greeted me right away and he spec'd my entire bag to start off. While this was being done, Jeff engaged me in great conversation, and not all about golf. What he did is an important process and now knowing what I know, I will probably have this done every year. I play Titleist 714 AP2's and have probably less than 70-80 rounds on them but found out that they needed to be tweaked back to their proper lie and loft, as did my wedges. Jeff kindly did this for me at the end of the session. Now onto the driver fitting. We went into one of the rooms and he started off by having me warm up by hitting an iron. Then after redecorating his walls and ceiling with imbedded golf balls, Jeff decided to get body armour and a helmet...just kidding. I started hitting balls with my driver (Titleist 915 D2) while the Trackman was doing its' job recording all the data. While this was happening, Jeff went out and got some other driver heads and shafts. Went through Taylormade, Ping, Srixon, Callaway, Titleist and even the PXG! Jeff knows his job and interjected with good conversation throughout the session so I didn't just keep beating balls without stopping. He shared some stats as we went through the different heads and shafts via the data the Trackman was collecting. A very informative session with him and me finding out what driver would best fit my game (and swing). Sadly, it isn't the Titleist 915 currently in my bag. Hint - it would be an Epic change...see what I did there? A note to add here is that I was there for about 4 hours overall, even though the session was only supposed to be 1.5 hours. Fortunately, it was the first Wednesday in October and they weren't fully booked. Chalk it up as good luck on my part. An incredible experience that I would highly recommend. It is worth your time to do this if you want to improve (and really, who doesn't?!?!) and play with the equipment that will suit your game by giving you maybe more distance and tighter dispersion on your shots. Trackman is an incredible piece of machinery, that really only pros get to use (unless you have access to one of these costly units), so the data you get from this is worthwhile, in my honest opinion. You do get an email with a pdf of the Trackman Report. Now, an important part of the experience that I had, is indicative of the person holding the session with me. Jeff is professional, has great knowledge and is passionate about the game of golf. Plus he's got some cool stories. Thanks for the great conversation and we'll see you in the near future Jeff. My experience at Modern Golf was fantastic!!! As a committed "tinkerer", I would always be getting my clubs "adjusted" (bent) or looking for the "next" best thing (as an alternative to practice), but after one fitting at Modern Golf, I immediately reduced my inventory to just one set of irons, 2 wedges, 1 driver and 1 3 wood (obviously a putter), as a result of having everything adjusted to feel just right (more natural, created way more confidence). Jeff was very very helpful in the process, walking me through the fitting process so I highly suggest and recommend that anyone who takes the game seriously (i.e. plays to win), go see these guys and get fitted (it's well worth the time and money)...

Jeff Johnson at the Richmond BC location was excellent to deal with. With helpful advice and careful analysis to ensure you find the best performing clubhead and shaft combination. Go in with an open mind, and you will be amazed with what works best for your swing. Statistics and data generated by Trackman provides excellent analytics, which allowed me to make an informed decision based on both quantitative and qualitative considerations. The best part is, if you buy clubs from them (priced at MSRP same as many other stores), the fitting is free! Highly recommended.

This was my first fitting and just as all the previous reviews have stated it was awesome! I feel very confident in the equipment I was recommended and very pleased with the level of service that I was provided with. I would recommend anyone who wants to stop tinkering (for at least a few years) and to be absolutely sure of their equipment to go through this fitting. Jeff was very patient, I spent two hours just on the driver alone. I walked out feeling the time and money was well spent. I respect Jeff even more as he recommended that I only change what I felt was necessary and actually recommend I keep my irons, hybrids and putter when it would have been easy for him to try and go for a cash grab and up sell. This level of honesty always keeps me coming back when doing business.

First class fitting experience. I am a 4-5 handicap and am looking for a set of fitted wedges, which I haven't ever done. Jeff is undoubtedly one of the most knowledgeable golf professionals I've ever met. Jeff very generously gave us a full 2 hours to go through 10+ different wedges and shafts. The equipment here is top of the line, the fitting bays are large and the fitting report from Trackman was very comprehensive. With a weird interest in golf data, this was exactly what I was looking for. I already had my putter fitted here and will definitely go back again. Highly recommended (and necessary) golf improvement experience.

Jeff is a one-man machine who has more knowledge than the golf pro's at my local course. Within seconds of watching me swing, without Trackman numbers he already noticed my club-heads for my irons needed to be flattened. Takes one club, flattens it out a degree and I was finding consistent ball striking with that club. Being able to make sense of all the trackman data, Jeff was able to explain what those numbers were actually translating to in my golf swing. In terms that most amateur golfers would understand. I didn't realize the extent I was hitting down on my clubs as well as the open face angle issues. Finding forgiving irons that still allowed me to work the ball was what Jeff was tasked to do. He comes up with multiple ideas so quickly so you aren't wasting any time doing trial and error. He already has a strong idea of what will work. I told Jeff that price and brand doesn't matter. I just want to find something that works for me. I don't need a $5000 set of PXGs. Jeff and I were able to find the right irons for my game and I'm super happy with the result. I know that golf clubs are just tools and 9/10 the golfers swing is the issue. However Jeff was able to turn improper clubs which were an inconsistent variable, into proper fitted clubs that became a fixed consistent solution. You would be silly to not book your next fitting session with Jeff and Modern Golf. Buying a set off the rack is literally throwing your money down the drain.

Professional experience for any skill level of golfer. Jeff was great in measuring the specs on all my clubs and explaining everything he was doing. I was scheduled for a 1.5 hour Driver fitting but he spent more than 3 hours with me. For anyone that hasn’t experienced trackman it is an unreal experience. Initially I thought I would be directed to something expensive but Jeff recommend a club that worked for me rather than the one with the most expensive price tag. He will let you try the $500 shafts the pros use to compare to some middle range stuff and all your results are sent to you by email within the day. I will be back for new irons and wedges in the next few months and wouldn’t go anywhere else for another club again. Go in with an open mind and no brand bias and let him do his thing.

My fitting with Jeff was the best experience I've had - much better than other options in town that I've tried before. Jeff was thorough in putting a wide variety of clubs in front of me, and allowed me to test a variety of shafts as well. He listened to what I had to say about what had worked best for me in the past - something sorely lacking elsewhere in town. When my clubs arrived, they were spot on perfect - the grips were exactly to my specs, everything was put together perfectly, and most of all the irons were amazing to hit from the first shot. One of the most talented and knowledgeable fitters in the lower mainland. I wouldn't go anywhere else for expert advice on club fitting. As someone who has been through the process myself before working for Modern Golf Vancouver, as a former employee, and as a golfer, I will always go back and trust Jeff to adjust my clubs and make the best recommendations for my game. After all, no matter how much one can read on the internet, the numbers don't lie and the staff at Modern Golf are the experts, not I. They take their time to make the best recommendations with reasonable expectations. Two things to explain about custom club fitting 1. They're not miracle workers but they can help your personal game. The only variable is the player, eliminate the other variables - they can help get the right equipment for you to help eliminate that variable. 2. You will not get your clubs right away They need to be ordered and built. They are built as soon as they get all the pieces in and in order of when they were purchased (because all of their customers are equally as important). Peak season expect longer waits due to more orders. Trust in the best for your game! Go see Jeff for your club fitting needs!

Jeff is a champ. I went in for a shaft fitting only for my older club head. I was on a budget and am a novice golfer so I felt a little out of place going in. Jeff still took the time to show me the different ranges of quality shafts I could have, in addition to some great entry level shafts to match my budget and ability. Travelled from Victoria for a late Saturday afternoon fitting. Wasn't sure if I'd feel rushed being the last fitting of the week. Happy to say, my experience was the complete opposite. Jeff did his utmost to make me feel welcome from the minute I arrived,(20 mins early) to when I was finally heading out, (20 mins late) post session. He listened to all of my questions and offered honest and educated answers that I could understand. Wouldn't hesitate in recommending Jeff/Modern Golf to anyone looking for a professional fitting. Team here, especially Jeff, went above and beyond. I came in for a putter fitting to determine which of the two putters I have been using is best for my stroke. Was able to book appointment for same week which was surprising given how busy anything to do with golf is right now. Fitter was very knowledgeable. Did some assessments then confirmed which putter worked better for me and offered to make the adjustments to my club. He also offered some good advice for my putting. While I waited I got to try out all the latest putter styles. He said the putter I had was working well and didn’t try to upsell me. He also did the length adjustment on my putter for free. I’ll certainly be returning in a month or so to get fitted for new woods. Really do recommend.

Wow... Can’t really describe just how amazing this experience was. Had an iron + driver fitting with Jeff. Not only was the service Jeff provided amazing, he is extremely knowledgeable... you want this guy fitting your clubs! I cannot emphasize this enough either; this is NOT a sales job, Jeff will not pressure you into new clubs (he said my current driver head would be fine for me and did not try to up-sell). Started out hitting my own clubs, 7 iron was all over the place and 100-120yds, by the end of the session with the shaft and head selected by Jeff I was 140-160 and straight down the fairway. This is honestly a complete game changer! Thanks Jeff, I’ll never purchase a club anywhere but Modern golf again!

Did a driver fitting with Jeff at Modern Golf in Richmond on July 31/2020. Overall was a great experience and I definitely will go back to work with him again. You can go and bash drivers (or any clubs) at the local golf store, pick whatever seemed best, and walk out that day with something off the rack. Or you can go to MG and work with someone like Jeff to find the best club and shaft combo that works for your unique swing. There are so many more factors to consider than just swing speed and it is great to feel like you have dialed it down to what gives you the best results. The data behind the process proves it. It’s more than just crunching data though. What I appreciated more than anything is that it was apparent that Jeff had a genuine interest in finding something that worked best for my game, plus just getting to know me. I was a pretty decent player for many years, but a bad back and middle age means I just don’t have the long game I used to have. I want all the help I can get now and was appreciative of how Jeff really made an effort to understand me and find the right driver for me. I know this guy probably does tons of fittings in a year, but I didn’t feel like just a number. You can tell he loves doing what he does and takes great pride in his work and his interactions with his customers. It normally takes alot to impress, but I was. How much? So much that I actually created a Google account just so I could write this review to share my experience with Jeff. If you are just going to pay for a driver or clubs at the local store, do yourself a favour and go get fitted with these guys. If you buy something, the fitting is free - it’s a no brainer. AB

Fantastic experience all around at modern golf with Jeff. This is truly a personalized fitting experience with every aspect of your game taken into account. I was somewhat skeptical that a higher handicap like myself would benefit in trying different shafts etc. But it was an eye opening experience and Jeff got me dialed in completely. Wouldn’t hesitate to go back or recommend them to anyone looking for new clubs.

I went to modern golf for fitting in April 2017. The office manager and front desk manager at Richmond office left the company on the same week and it leaves the company with 1 man show. After spending more than 3 hours for customs fitting, he still measured my clubs wrong and led to wrong decision. I had to make new purchase for replacement. The entire fitting process, time waiting for new clubs to come and new purchases didn't serve the purpose at all and causes missing tournaments. The unprofessional service provided by Modern Golf Richmond BC is very very disappointing. That person might even be promoted to be Richmond store manager by now and he is hiring new fitting staffs. In such, I doubt how Modern Golf would sustain its reputation. I definitely wont recommend anyone to go to Modern Golf Richmond BC for a while.

Walked in with no appointment and was set up by an extremely professional fitter ruel Perez , we went over my needs hit shots in multiple clubs I ended up leaving with a set of PXG’s and some tips on my swing I never knew I had , I emailed ruel some follow up questions and he replied on his time off to help me out ! Have purchased many sets of clubs over the years and after some time usually regretted my choices. Decided to be smart for a change and have clubs that were professionally fitted and that were suited to my swing. Best decision I ever made (too soon old, too late smart ?). Booked 3 hours to get fitted for irons and hybrids/fairway woods. Jeff spent an enormous amount of time with me and in fact, never got to the hybrids. He had me hitting heads that I never thought I could hit. I had no preconceived notion of which clubs to try or, no brand loyalty. I just asked Jeff to fit me with clubs that he felt would improve my game. We decided on the P790's. Really happy with the decision and can't wait to try them out on the course. Very professional job and Jeff has an amazing amount of patience. Can't say enough good things about him. If you've ever questioned whether or not you should get fitted, then please read this review!!!!! Prior to going into Modern Golf I was questioning my decision on whether I should even do it. I didn't know if I was even good enough to get fitted. I almost cancelled my fitting a few times but talked myself out of it. Well, I'm glad I didn't cancel because Modern Golf did NOT disappoint. As soon as I walked into the store, I was blown away with the customer service and positivity all around. The gentleman at the front desk (so sorry but I forgot his name) was super friendly and provided great customer service when I called in. Jeff, the Store Manager, helped me feel at ease as soon as I walked in. He asked about my goals as a player and what I wanted to take away after my full bag fitting. That goes a long way for me as I knew he was going to take the time to help me achieve those goals. The fitting session was an absolute blast! I'd sometimes get frustrated with my bad shots but Jeff kept a positive attitude and helped me keep focus. He took the time to understand my swing and put me in the right equipment for me. I am very happy with my purchase and did not feel pressured to buy anything I did not want. I have nothing but great things to say about Jeff. I will DEFINITELY be going back when I need more equipment. I emailed Jeff a few times after my full bag fitting and he was quick to get back to me and helped answer any questions I had. This was my first ever fitting, and it did not disappoint! From the moment you enter the store, the staff does an amazing job of making you feel welcome and attempting to get more behind "the story" of what brought you to their establishment. I was able to hit all of the big names of golf against each other, but it wasn't necessarily a "big-name" that I walked away with. I ended up hitting the Cleveland Turbo HB Driver further than my current driver, with a tighter dispersion. It also happened to be the lowest price out of all of the clubs available! The key take aways from my fitting were: A. Jeff is a great fitter and even better guy. B. Try not to go in with too much bias towards a particular brand. C. They do a great job of matching your specific swing, speed, and ability to the clubs they suggest for you. They have most definitely made a return customer out of me!

Spent 4K on an entire bag minus the putter. May 17th, I Was told due to covid 19 I would have a 6-8 week shipping delay. No big deal. My woods arrived, my irons arrived. But no wedges had come. After the 8 weeks I ended up sending an email for an update, no response. I called and received little information but that they were doing there best. I started to grow impatient when Taylor made released a newer wedge. (August) Meanwhile I still did not have my wedges. More emails sent no response. Finally after leaving multiple messages at both the Toronto hq and the Richmond location. I called modern golf, Jeff the weasel that he is, informed me that the left handed wedges were still not in store. I asked for my money back and amazingly enough I received my first email since may. This email was a receipt for refund. I ended up waiting nearly half a year for wedges I never got. Meanwhile modern golf held $800 of my money with no intent of actually getting me my wedges. Jeff and Jason were very kind when things were going well, but we’re complete cowards when it came to being upfront and honest about there shipping issues. If you can’t get the equipment, why fit people for it?

My recent fitting at Modern Golf was my first and I was very satisfied with the results. Ruel Perez, my fitter, is very through and professional in his work. He took all the time needed to get to know me, my swing, my game and most importantly, in my case, any limitations (both knees replaced recently) I may have. The end results were a set of clubs that are totally suited for me. Ruel took the time to get it right. There is another thing that puts Modern Golf at the top of my list; they are very honest. If they can't help you with a better club they won't recommend one just to make a sale. I have heard this from friends of mine that have used their Mississauga facility. In my case Ruel spent three hours trying to get a driver with better performance, for me. In the end he said he couldn't make a recommendation i.e. no sale, no charge. Honesty in practice. In my book, Modern Golf is simply the best!

Amazing staff and service. I had my grips done at both Golftown and Modern Golf in the past. Hands down so much better than Golftown. Start to finish, Modern Golf manages to do it with professionalism and with great customer service. If you are looking to get new grips done, give them a call. I will be using their service in the future for sure. I am sure they are great fitters too from the conversations I had with their reps.

Was kind of hesitant to book a fitting as opposed to just finding stuff that looked good at golftown but super glad I found these guys. 1) Everyone here is nice and also really professional. I'm a 20 HCP and there was zero intimidation once we got in the bay and hitting. Even if you are hitting it into the ceiling their approach is to get you back on track and get you hitting again so they can do their job. That comfort level is a big deal just like it is on the course. 2) Budget concerns were taken care of and watched the whole way. 3) The idea seems to be to get you into something that works for you. They're happy to answer questions about stuff that you think looks good or is cool but the end goal is to get you into what really works for you. My confidence that I'm in the best stuff for me couldn't be higher. 4) I can't emphasize enough how awesome this place and Jeff are. 100% professionals who are about getting you into clubs that are best for you. Can't recommend this place enough!

I have had the privilege of my 2nd fitting at Modern Golf. My fitter was Jeff who can assess this aging old golf body and skills. He put me into a set of Mizuno JPX 900 4 years ago and they were recently assessed as still the right fit. Still wanting to upgrade, I replaced a 7 year old set of hybrids with Honma TR 21 Hybrids. There was no hard sell, just another great fit. Any problem with the golf swing remains mine alone-no excuse regarding the clubs. Jeff is a premier fitter.

Shoutout to Corey and the rest of the crew at Modern Golf Vancouver. I had 2 appointments on back to back days to get fitted for new wedges, a new driver and possibly irons. I didn't end up buying new irons but Corey spent a bunch of time fitting and gapping my current irons to fit me better as they were a 2nd hand set that was setup very wrong for me. As you can see I have always been negative strokes gained for approach and after playing my first round with my new driver, fitted irons and 1 new wedge (had to order the other 2) I have a positive strokes gained for my approach shots and I feel like even my misses were still hitting greens... I couldn't be more happy with the service they went above and beyond to make sure I was happy when I left and I will be going back for some new fairway woods in the winter!

This place is awesome. I'm a certified golf nut that is 50 years old and has a 9 handicap. I went to Modern golf on a recommendation and was blown away. Do they have all the bells and whistles to fit all golfers at every level? Yes. Do they have just about every shaft and head known to man kind? Yes. . But, those are not the reasons why I would recommend Modern Golf. The level of service I received from Jeff, the club fitter, went so far above what I was expecting that I can't say enough. For example, I was scheduled for a 1 and 1/2 hour fitting. After three hours he was still going and enjoying every minute. And, after this marathon fitting, he charged the normal fitting rate and wouldn't take a tip. I can't guarantee this long fitting to everyone, but I caught him on a slow day and he was more then happy to go the extra mile and help me out. You want more, after narrowing my clubs down to two, the main difference was price. He could have convinced me to buy the club that costs twice as much, but he was honest and told me the difference wasn't worth the extra cost. When's the last time you heard that from a salesman? Jeff gets it! It's not about sales, it's about sharing the passion for the game and building relationships. Trust me, you are a fool if you go anywhere else to get fit and buy clubs.

Hit lots of different heads and then fine tuned shafts. Ruel took so long we didn't have time for driver. No extra charge for iron fitting. 100% impressed in every way. Club selection, facility, data shared after, shaft selection, fitter personality and knowledge. 100% recommend Modern Golf and Ruel. Update a year later.
