I am a frequent golfer who plays 3-5 rounds a week on average. Although the course was beautiful and well maintained, the staff were extremely aggressive and condescending and the management style doesn't really allow for a positive experience. We came to Grand Niagara as part of a golf trip and of the 3 courses we played, this one was clearly the worst experience overall. As soon as we tee'd off the first hole, the starter/pace keeper came up to us and was extremely rude when explaining the rules for driving the carts. On the day we played, they also had a 24 man scramble tournament going on which was scheduled to tee off only 10 minutes after our tee time. So, for the majority of our round, the tournament players would be waiting for us and making our group anxious, which inevitably affected how we played (rushed and not focused). The starter continuously would come around to ask us to hurry up even though the group in front of us was so close to us that we couldn't go any faster. These continued interruptions would make us lose focus on our game and led to some bad shots that could have been prevented. The whole situation was avoidable which is why the experience was so frustrating. Anyone who plays golf knows that a scramble is much quicker than playing real golf and the management at the course should have given our group a bigger time gap before teeing off the tournament players.
The experience only got worse when we were extremely thirsty due to the extreme weather (33 deg C). We hadn't seen the cart girl in over two hours so we decided to call the clubhouse to see if we could have the cart girl come to the hole we were on to buy some drinks. They told us she would be around instead of calling her to come to our hole. We also ran into the starter again and asked him if he could let the cart girl know we wanted to buy some waters and he said the same thing. It was another hour before the cart girl came over which was quite frustrating.
Overall, the experience was like nothing I've ever encountered at a golf course before. Especially for such a pricey course, they should really do more to make all their guests feel taken care of. I will most likely not go back and I will be advising my friends to go elsewhere as well.
