You’d be much better off going to TXG. Completely regret getting a fitting here; from the lack of any real technical expertise to the price, this place is a joke. You’d genuinely be better off going to a Golf Town and swinging clubs to see what you like most... because that’s all they did. They had me hit 3 heads and 4 shafts and picked what I happened to hit best off 5 shots. No actual analysis besides what I could do myself for free at Golf Town.

I went for a fitting and they took me in right on time. I spent a good hour and forty five minutes trying different clubs and hitting them into a screen that showed the trajectory and distance the ball was hit. They have a great facility there. The instructors were perfect. They would still have spent time checking out other clubs but I ran out of time.

First off when you walk into this place you can definitely tell they are serious about golf and that you came to the right place. I booked a putter fitting and arrived on time and they were ready for me. There is no shortage of options to choose from here so you can bet if you don’t know what you want when you walk in the door it’s ok, they will more than likely have something you do by the time you leave. First time doing a fitting and Jake was very good to work with, very clear at explaining everything and making adjustments along the way to certain aspects of my stroke which showed up in the numbers on the quintec camera system for the putters. The combination approach of using the numbers to show you how each putter performs in your hands and how you feel about different clubs makes the process very interesting and fun. It came down for me between two putters, which numbers wise were slightly similar but both had completely different feels when striking the ball so it just came down to my preference at that point. Needless to say I’ve ordered a putter and will see how it works on the course once I get it, I’m sure I won’t be disappointed. Will definitely recommend this place if you want the best golf advice.

Booked a fitting in order to try the PXG Gen 2 0311 irons, specifically requesting this set of clubs when booking. Drove two hours to Modern Golf and was told to warm up in fitting room. Thirty five minutes later employee arrived and started the session. Half way through he advised me that he was fitting me for the 0211 irons, since they didn't have the 0311 head in stock. Very disappointed that this was not made clear at the time of booking, as I was not interested in the other set. Session itself was somewhat helpful, however still not certain which shaft to use for the club desired. Would advise anyone attending to check beforehand to ensure the reason that you are attending can be fulfilled. Overall, clean facility and very informative process, however I feel it was a waste of the $100 that I paid. I was contacted today by phone by one of the owners of Modern Golf, Paul Fisher. During a long conversation I was able to explain my concerns in regards to my experience. Mr Fisher was also able to explain to me more thoroughly the process that the business employs, and where certain aspects might have been explained in more detail at the actual time of the fitting. I was very impressed with the fact that the owner of this small business took the time to personally reach out to me in order to deal with my concerns. After our conversation I feel that I am better able to understand the purpose of the fitting. I realize that his business, along with countless others, have been and are still being affected by the unusual circumstances that we are all facing. All in all, I am happy to say that my opinion of Modern Golf has changed and will probably use their services in the future.

Justin was great, he left the bay to allow me to hit balls without someone looking over my shoulder, alleviating any stress. But when Peter did not question my emails that outlined my budget, and after my fitting the invoice was nearly 30% over budget, it's not a great feeling. I spent 4 (continuous) hours hitting balls, taking breaks for a drink and snacks, but I was exhausted afterwards. And I walk 4 rounds a week, so I'm no slouch. When the results were in, no matter the peer pressure that's involved in the marketing ploy of brainwashing golfers that they aren't considered serious enough, unless they have the latest/greatest/most expensive gear, I couldn't spend 2 years worth of membership dues on a > Driver that was 0.6yds longer, a > 3W that was 0.8yds longer, and > Irons 9yds longer. Sorry ModernGolf, Justin was great, but the overall experience was disappointing. I was ready to spend a lot money, but not for those types of results. I'll just have to keep reducing my 6.6 handicap index with my current "sticks"

As a beginning golfer, I was seeking some professional advise and help. I called up Modern Golf and they got me into my first lesson right away, there are multiple trainers and they are very flexible on hours as well. I met Kieran this morning and had my first lesson with him, all I can say is that in an hour, I have learnt so much right and wrongs I have been doing and we got results right away. I am SO HAPPY with Kieran's teaching and guidance to show me the basic also the tricks of golfing. it is not an easy sport but Kieran definitely opened the doors for me! I really enjoyed the facility, it is clean and organized. All the quipments are really new as well. This is my frist time visiting Modern Golf and I already fell in love with this place! Can't wait for my lesson next week! if you are looking for a great trainer with positive energy, Kieran is the guy you are looking for!!

I had searched these guys out and pondered for an entire year before finally making the call to go in. Very strategically priced packages basically make it a no-brainer to just get the entire bag fitted. John was my fitting agent and the entire process was 5 star. Great guy, helped me with a couple swing tips, fitted me with some new shafts and off I went. The facility is very cool and technology is up to par (sorry I had to). Highly recommend it if you're going to be purchasing new clubs anyway.

Had a fitting a few weeks ago and can only say good things - will only be buying clubs from them going forward, no more GolfTown. The fitting process was intensive and complete, beginning with a profile of the clubs I had and then trying out different shafts, club-heads and more. Service was super friendly and helpful. There was a small hiccup in the delivery of my new clubs, but upon contacting them, they handled it insanely quickly and it was rectified before I knew it.

Modern Golf is a bit of a golfing wonderland! the fitting experience was thorough and felt exhaustive and we tried to hone in on the best results. i left feeling like i'd done my best to get what is good for my game. even with Covid measures in place, i'm glad i did it and will surely do so for my next golf club needs.

You suck

1) they take forever to get anything done 2) their customer service is trash 3) they overcharge for clubs that you can buy for half price on your own 4) they only cater to the elitist of golf, they could care less about anyone else 5) they don't give back to the golf community in any level 6) they suck 7) they're only doing well because they have no competitors and because they suck golf balls ALSO, Everything is overpriced, from equipment, to repairs, to fittings. This is for the elite golf community only. Not great considering golf is struggling to appeal. Costs more to install new shafts than buy new clubs all together. Not much to help young adults or students struggling to afford to play the game. Phenomenal facility and knowledgeable staff, but the pricing system is seriously flawed. This place is for country club folk, sweater around the neck type only.

At both times I was impressed with his knowledge of the subject and the way he handled the fitting. He spent his time to ensure I get the best clubs and shafts. He did not push me to buy anything unless it was the best for me. I have no hesitation in highly recommending Peter for fitting.

Had a great experience at Modern Golf. Initially went for a putter fitting last June and kept coming back for Iron and Driver fittings. I dealt with Matt for both my Iron and Driver fittings and had an amazing experience. He was very detailed and technical with the shafts and head specs, so if you are someone who likes the tech behind the gear, he’s the guy to go to. Will definitely be going back to get a wood/hybrid fitting in the future!

This was my first true golf club fitting. Justin made the process very simple, and straightforward. The key for me was his ability to hone in on the proper equipment for my particular swing. The fitting could have been as technical as I wanted it to be. Justin was able to look at my performance with my current clubs, and quickly recommend the club head/shaft combinations that might work better for me. He knows his product well. No pressure to purchase following the fitting. Covid protocol followed well. Be prepared to hit a lot of golf balls. Whole bag (no putter) fitting took close to three hours. A job well done.

Great experience! I have been fit for clubs at a couple different places, and modern is up there as one of the best. I am one of those rare cases where I have a extremely quick swing speed ( 118-120 range) so I really benefit from a good fitter, with lots of shaft options, Matt at modern went through tons of different options for me and we found a great fit! Give these guys a visit!

Two things make this place - The selection, and the staff. The possible head/shaft combinations you can try are nearly endless and laid out before you. During my fitting, the majority of my club heads were found to be good choices for me, with some shaft recommendations made to aid in dispersion and controlling tempo. I ended up putting their shaft recommendations in my hybrid and fairway wood and a year later I'm still very happy with them. I also had them do an additional hybrid for days when I want to switch out a long iron. After my initial fitting I was feeling uncertain about the driver recommendation they had for me, and they let me come back without charge for another look. A different shaft end up being recommended. I have actually reverted to my old driver head (G25) versus what was recommended (BB Alpha), but still keeping the recommended shaft. I don't think the Alpha to be forgiving enough for my 10 handicap swing. I also had them replacing a broken shaft quickly with a pull they had in the back shop, and they've done grips for me very promptly. Tracy is always a pleasure to speak with, Justin was comfortable to work with, and the guys in the build-shop to good work to back it all up.

Getting fitted for iron shafts usually involves a bit of scepticism on the part of the golfer. Way easier to go to the big box store and buy a new set because a tour player uses them. Bad idea. Using older ping I3 blades it became obvious those X100 shafts don't cut it for my swing. So I took a leap of faith and got fitted at Modern golf by one Jeff Swain. After a lengthy session he found the perfect shaft. Still can't believe the improvement. Well worth the price, and My acknowledgement. Thanks!

Total waste of time and money , terrible Anybody saying about good selection is lying. They use Track man Which is more accurate but think about it...when you compare clubs to find better than the other, do you really need Track man? They let you hit two or three clubs and which ever shows better distance and numbers ......you can do the same thing at Golf town for FREE!

I had been looking forward to my fitting for months when Modern Golf was able to reopen. The experience far exceeded my expectations. Working with Justin, the Director of Custom Fitting, I felt comfortable and safe in the space. He asked if I had any preferences or wanted to try any specific clubs, and when I said I was open to whatever was best he brought me a variety of options. Once we nailed down the right fit, I could see an immediate improvement. I would recommend Modern Golf and a proper fitting to anyone who is serious about their game.

Have had an amazing experience to-date. I went in for a full bag fitting as a relatively new golfer with ill fitting hand-me-down equipment. Hit over 400 balls in the session and ended up getting fit for both irons and wedges. I was pretty tired during the woods fitting and wanted to see how the gapping would turn out once I got the irons to see how to fill out the top of my bag. Will definitely go back for a follow up fitting to correct the top end of my bag. Given the current state of global logistics, the clubs took a few months from the manufacturer but the fitter, Peter, was very communicative and did not over promise. He was also excellent at helping to correct some of the manufacturers mistakes with the lie angle being off of the ordered spec. All-in-all it was a great experience and I would highly recommend. If you end up going for a fitting, I can’t recommend Peter enough!

A great iron fitting exercise. Elliott was thorough. Looked at several Mizuno options (head, shaft). We also covered gapping at the low and high ends of the iron set. Ended up replacing my current, redundant 4-iron with a 4-hybrid of correct loft. They also adjusted for free my gap wedge loft to improve gapping. Only negative was that the Mizuno FliHi club was unavailable to try so we had to settle on a SIM2 hybrid but that worked out fine.

Peter is an absolute Rockstar. I can't believe I waited this long to get properly fitted. As all golfers know - the game can be so rewarding and at times frustrating. At the end of our session Peter was able to get me into a setup made for me - I have bought off the rack clubs for 20 years and forced myself to fit into them. I highly recommend getting fitted at Modern Golf. My fitter was Peter, who was very knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. I had a full bag fitting that lasted ~4 hours. I was able to try all the new clubs with different shafts and found which clubs fit my swing style based on the aggregate data using Trackman. The wait time on the clubs I ordered is ~8 weeks, which I'm told is typical around this time, and thankful lines up with the start of the golf season.

My husband and I just went to Modern Golf for our 3rd fitting. Everyone is very professional and knowledgeable. We've always dealt with Justin and have confidence in his expertise. We've never been disappointed. Whether you're looking for 1 club or a bag full you will leave there knowing you are leaving with the best clubs for you. A few years ago I tried some irons and after hitting a number of different types, Justin told me I didn't hit any of them better than my own. That told me a lot and I appreciated his honesty. This time I left with a full set of irons. It's well worth the money, especially if you golf a lot and are passionate about the game. We would highly recommend Modern Golf.

Had a fitting with Mike and it was a great experience. I was open about being a very high handicap and what I wanted from the fitting. He started off by helping me improve my swing so that I was able to judge the clubs better. He respected my budget but also provided me with information for future purchases. He also gave his recommendations on how I should upgrade my bag and what to prioritize. It was all around great value. I got new clubs, a lesson and a lot of data and information on what works best for me for future clubs. The facility was incredible and the data you can get from the trackman simulator is incredible. Had a putter fitting on July 23rd. Fitter was great but the selection of putters was very poor. Would not recommend putter fitting if you are a lefty. Had specifically asked for Cobra putters a month prior to my session and was assured they would have some and they never did. Only had 2 options total for Scotty Cameron, would've loved to try the Phantom X 7.5 or 12s but didn't have either. No Evnroll, Cleveland and only 1 Ping. Great facility and seem to carry all the irons, drivers and woods. Unfortunately I cannot recommend a putter fitting from them.

Had my fitting today, had a great experience. I'm almost 70 years old and I have far from a perfect swing... (I definitely have my own interpretation of a golf swing). I was playing Ping G irons and wanted a little more distance so I figured it was time to use some new technology. Great deal on PXG 0311P irons (6 through W) and PXG 0311XP for the 4 & 5 iron, all with MMT graphite shafts! Mike tried fitting me with a five different club manufacturers and multiple shaft combinations that he thought were 'best fit' for me. After the session was over it was the first combo was the best for me according to the data (and contact feel). I had a lot of swings, gotta admit I was running out of gas near the end. Great to see the data on all the combinations, really makes choosing the right club easier! Great job Mike, really put me at ease with compliments for my good swings and 'try another one' for a few of my mis-hits. By the way, the club & shaft combination I chose were not the ones that went the longest...

Matt's communication was great during the fitting. I asked that he not tell me the brand of shaft or head he was giving me to hit. After a few shots he would ask me for feedback prior to letting me know why he put a particular setup in my hand. After the session I had a clearer understanding of my swing path, plane, impact etc and the relationship of the numbers provided by the Trackman. Overall it was a great experience and I would recommend Modern Golf to anyone who wants to be fitted for clubs or take lessons.

Went to modern golf on the recommendation of a friend at the beginning of June to have my driver reshafted. The process wasn't an issue, I hit a few different shafts and found one that improved accuracy and distance but it wasn't in stock so they said it would take 3 maybe 4 weeks for the shaft to come in. Since then I have heard nothing from them, no update, no sorry for the delay. I've also called repeatedly and left messages and still no response, hence the review. At this point all I want is a refund and I will go elsewhere but I live in Niagara so getting down there while it's open has been an issue. Very unsatisfied with the quality of service once they had my money.

Consistently shot 95-105. Wanted to get better so I spent 500 on lessons over winter. Now my game is so bad I shoot 130 plus, usually I stop keeping score it’s so bad. I no longer play often as I find it hard to enjoy. Also spend $200 on a fitting. Just irons. They let me hit a bunch, said they would send a quote. Never discussed lie or shaft length. Never sent a quote until head office email to book the fitting and I had had it done two weeks prior. Needless to say I never bought anything. $700 down the drain and nothing to show. Did an executive bag fitting with Roman which was great. We were able to determine what shaft I needed, the extension I required, grip size, and narrowed the iron heads to a few options. I was given two quotes at the end of the session but was still unsure which set I wanted to go with. Justin was willing to let me come in for another hour to hit the iron heads a few weeks later at no extra charge which made me feel confident in my decision. I was told clubs would be 6-8 weeks and they came within 2 weeks! Highly recommend this place, great customer service and a solid group of staff!

I had a club fitting earlier this summer with Pete. Pete was knowledgeable and took the time to get things right, even when I had some concerns early on. I then had some lessons with Lee who was awesome to work with and has helped my game a ton. I would not recommend going anywhere else then Modern.

Michael helped me with my fitting and was super knowledgeable understood exactly what i needed for my upcoming season and also was a great dude to hang out with for a hour. I ordered a women’s iron set online for my girlfriend for Christmas. I ordered on December 16 and USPS sent them the labels to put on the package on December 18. They were expected to arrive on December 24. Since December 18, nothing has happened; they haven’t even slapped the labels on the box. I reached out quite a few times for some answers and got no response. For a company that touts themselves as a modern golf outlet with dreams of expansion, I’m not sold. This is simple logistics stuff and they couldn’t have done any worse. I would have been okay if a customer service rep replied to my messages but I didn’t even get that.

My handicap has gone up 6 strokes since buying clubs with Modern Golf. A follow up e-mail to Jeff Swain regarding a setting on one of my hybrids went unanswered. All in all - I’m completely adrift in my game and the fitting has been a short term disaster. Hopefully it doesn’t become a mid and long term bust too. EDIT & UPDATE: I feel compelled to update my earlier review following on the promised reassessment (and upgrade my review from 1 star to 4). Ownership contacted me and set up a date to reevaluate the earlier fitting. I met with Justin who spent 4 hours analyzing my equipment. Adjustments were made; a new shaft was integrated into my driver and the settings and weighting on my hybrids were changed. Consistency on my driving has improved. Wait and see on the rest but I must say that the deterioration in my game was attributable in part to my own failure to adjust to the visuals, feel and yardages of the new clubs. Once I learn and trust the added length and helpful improvement to my trajectory/ball flight, I fully expect my handicap to come back down. Modern Golf was professional and delivered on the promise of white glove service. In the end, there is no substitute for a sound swing but Modern Golf can help refine your game.

Great experience for the fitting. The pick up was awful. I would never recommend and have told people not to go to this place. Full set of custom clubs that they just handed to me when I went to pick up. No case, box or anything. No one went over the clubs -;for the investment they were clearly focused in the male golfer. I belong to the largest ladies amateur golf association in Canada and US and I have told all I know to stay away from Modern golf due to my experience. Many have found a place in Durham to be much better. Missed opportunity to get it right for the fastest growing golf demographic.
