A nice little beginner's course with a good mix of long/short, easy/challenging holes. LOTS of fairway to find your ball keeps the high handicapper from becoming discouraged. Yet the trees, water, sand, etc. make it a challenge for the experienced golfer to keep their score low. This is a great place for an accomplished golfer to introduce a new duffer to this crazy game. The newbie can play without becoming too discouraged while the seasoned player can still enjoy a moderate challenge to keep their stroke count low.
The course is generally well maintained and the new owners are making an effort to improve the quality of the greens. Some overall improvements are still needed but that takes time. One complaint I hear from EVERY golfer during their first few rounds at G.A. is that it's often difficult to find the next tee box. A little more on-course signage directing golfers from the putting green to the next tee box would make a big difference! I'd suggest this as a priority. The game can be frustrating enough without the challenge of trying to decide where to go next!
The course is less than 30 minutes from downtown Charlottetown yet the country setting makes for a relaxing round of golf. The view from waterfront fairways is stunning! That alone is worth the price of admission. Which, btw, is very reasonable. So, grab a golf buddy and have a great time at G.A. After your round, head over to the 19th for some great views of the ocean and countryside from the outdoor patio. There's a limited selection of adult beverages available but you should be able to find something to cool off with.
Before you leave, make sure to take in the view one more time then let the friendly staff know how much you enjoyed your day on the course. You may even want to book your next round... Enjoy!
