Good practice range. The grass is often cut to the length of rough, so hitting tee shots is pretty tough. However, there are lots of targets and the golf balls are okay range balls (one piece silicone, if I'm not mistaken), with usually 1/3 of the balls new for that season.
In response to the owner's comments below:
For starters I am very pleased with Wedges, hence why I have continued to go back for 3 years. The reason I did not mention either of these comments is because I did not feel it was necessary, nor a realistic or feasible request, but felt a prospective customer should be aware of. That said, the grass has always been longer at Wedges than other driving ranges, and I am not the only one to have noticed this.
To be clear on another point, I have no concern over the golf balls, in fact they are much better than most places nearby. However, I have been to ranges where there are higher quality golf balls, typically seen at high end golf clubs or courses, but also places with far worse golf balls in much worse quality, like Whitcombe Bros or Cambridge Golf Club. Furthermore, when I took a sample today, I found my assessment to be accurate regarding the quantity of new balls, as about 1/3 looked new. I think the fact you replace over 1/3 of your balls every year is wonderful considering many places don't replace their balls for years.
In regards to the length of the grass, I also believe this was an accurate assessment. Fairways are often cut to 0.5", whereas public courses rough is cut to 1-3", rarely do you see 4", and tee-decks are either similar or shorter than the fairways, depending on the course. For example, Cambridge (which I visited 1 week ago), cuts their range to the same length as the fairway, which is significantly shorter than Wedges.
Again, I do not expect you to change the golf balls or the length of the grass, hence why I never mentioned it. That said, in comparison to some higher-end ranges I have been too, these were the two things I noticed the most.
As a final note, I would recommend anyone to go to Wedges if they were looking to improve my game. 3 years ago I started as a 20+ handicap, today I am under a 10 handicap, spending most of my time learning at your facility, spending significant time and money there. Without Wedges, I would have not had such an accessible facility to practice at, making learning the game that much more time consuming.
Thank you.
