This Golf belongs to the category of Golf course.
Great area!! Very close to where I live..
Somewhat good place to go Pokemon hunting for charmanders here. The golf course is a private property so someone will likely kick you out. There is a nice little walk way next to pond where you can bike. There were a lot of bugs when I went during the summer so come prepared.
Good Fantastic
Snooky loved the doggy pond and the off-the-leash walk
This course is in awful shape. Greens and tee boxes aren't even cut. There's no ranger to speed the game up. It took us forever just to finish 9. The cheapness per round doesn't justify the courses flaws
two hours to play six holes on a monday. do not recommend. to their credit, they gave me a rain check when i complained. didn’t ask, but there you have it.
I’ve been playing here for years and this year the course is in the best shape I’ve ever seen it. Greens are just perfect! Also they finally got an online reservation system which is great - I also feel the pace of play has improved greatly …
Fairly well-maintained local 9-hole course.
It is a treasure to fine such a well groomed public course right in the city. The Pro Bob Carey has the best prices in his pro shop. And can fit you up to great clubs.
can be super crowded and slow on weekends, but go during the right time during the week and it's great
Good
Great people great greens
Fun 9-hole course, usually in pretty good shape. Can get very slow at peak times, but usually not too bad. Can't beat it for a cheap option close to the city.
Ive come here many times. Half the staff is great, the other half are surly and old and just don’t care. A lot of people don’t realize this place is municipal and therefore it doesn’t carry with it the same principles of being really polite to customers in a customer service setting. That being said, the miserable staff will roast customers at a ridiculous frequency, often for no reasons. Again, half the staff are great and always a pleasure to encounter, the other half are just downright insufferable. VERY SAD!!
Great 9 hole course close to the city!
Nice course to play
Ok course, nothing to write home about. Not super challenging.
Went for the first time this year about a week ago. There's been some redesigns in the layout specifically on the par-5's that make a HUGE difference. The course was in amazing shape- greens rolling very well, fairways in good shape as well. All in all a great value, and fun layout.
Not the friendliest staff, it's true, but a decent enough course. Fair price and can't beat location if you live in Cambridge
Fun 9 hole course at a great price for the location.
Fresh pond in my opinion is the best 9 hole course in the (Boston) area. The only thing I would recommend, is the guy in the pro shop who takes your payment ( i think its Bob?) needs to NOT THROW MY CREDIT CARD back at me after I hand it to him for my payment. I would suggest handing my card back to me. Not chucking it at the counter. And this experience happened well before covid. And multiple times. I just got around to writing this review.
The pro shop staff are mean unwelcoming and quite rude. They tried to turn our group away when we revealed we had some novices that had never golfed before
Usually play here once a week during the summer. While it can sometimes be slow play, it's a challenging 9 holes. They are upgrading a lot of the holes this winter, adding in more bunkers. Looking forward to next season!
I walked the 2-mile loop around the pond while talking with a friend.
Great nine hole course close to the city. There's usually only a short wait most weekdays after 5 (when it's nice out).
Reported them to the BBB. They charged my debit card weeks later without my concent. The pro shop employee feels he is important. He just books tee times and works the register yet somehow ruins the experience. Everytime we go there is an issue. I've never had issues at the other courses that we play. I'm not sure how he still has a job if so many golfers have issues with him? Do yourself a favor and play elsewhere
Meh
Great 9 hole course in the middle of the city!
First time at the course, I arrive to find out I had accidentally booked a tee time for the next day. Guy in the pro shop was super helpful and told me he’d let me know if any no-shows came up. Sure enough 20 mins later he’s calling my …
Love it! Great staff, Great course maintenance, Great rates!
The employee we saw was rude, discriminating, thretening and yelling derogatory things at the customers. Very poor experience. Save your trouble and don't go there.
The 8th hole is where it's at
My friend and I had a great time here. Beautiful course in the city.
Great location friendly staff
Good track for 9 before work.
Just golfed here for the first time last Friday, and now see why the tee times fill up! The staff was friendly and welcoming as soon as we walked up to the club house, even showing us the practice green and made sure we knew where the first …
My boyfriend loves this course.
I played here well over a dozen times this summer and have nothing but good things to say about this 9 hole course right in the heart of Cambridge. …
Handy little nine hole course. Pace of play is the only negative.
Really enjoyed playing this golf course, an absolute hidden gem in the city. Course was well maintained and staff were very friendly, I will definitely be back soon!
Nice place
Nice little par 3 course with a decent price. The Starter typically isn't the friendliest guy on the course.
beautiful golf course next to the pond
Awesome facility!! Great layout, affordable, friendly staff. Pace of play very good as well. Thumbs up ????
The staff is rude here
For Cambridge? It's great, fairly long too.
Gorgeous course! Great deal as well. The course was in good shape and pace of play wasn’t too bad. Excited to come back soon!
Beautiful
(Translated) Beautiful place in the middle of Cambridge, well maintained. (Original) Precioso lugar en pleno Cambridge, bien mantenido.
I've been golfing here for 5 years, and it just gets better every year. The greens are in great shape! The pro shop is awesome and stocked with good prices. They recently helped me purchase a new set of irons, and it was a seamless process! …
Awful
Well kept course, efficient staff, friendly and loyal regulars.
Running around Fresh Pond is a great way to get your running morning exercise in a less stressful environment
Decent golf course right by fresh pond.
It's closed for season right now.
Always a pleasure when I visit Cambridge.
(Translated) I want to play golf. (Original) 골프 치고 싶네요
Great course!! Good size for all skill levels. Rates are good for the area, and the course is in great condition. Play here everyday, no complaints!! Staff are top notch too!
Always VERY crowded, however the course is always in very good shape, especially considering the amount of traffic it receives. Fun layout. Greens are on the slow side. Limited parking
Great convenient Cambridge course. It is also well maintained.
The course is beautiful and well kept, staff is very nice it’s a pleasure to play here.
1st time out this year. A little cool but good times with some friends. ????
I wish I could give this nice little course a 5 out of 5, the starter was a woman who was extremely nice but the ranger on the course really outdid himself. Within 5 minutes of teeing off, Bobby immediately told us to pick up the pace while we were walking up to the green. He was very rude and unprofessional, and came by again a few holes later to give us a hard time. We were parked just off the cart path to give people room to drive by - and he berated us about parking the cart on the path. Unprofessional and rude once again. Finally, on the last hole we had two tires just off the path and Bobby quite literally yelled at us while driving by in the rudest and most unprofessional way I’ve ever been treated as a paying customer. We are young professionals nearing 30 who treated this course and people with respect. Bobby acted in a way that should be embarrassing to the community he is employed by.
It's fun its really nice, took my first golf lesson there
Great course, great prices, and nicely maintained 9 hole course! First time there and everything was great I will be going back again for certain.
Nice place for a walk, and plenty of pokemon to catch with pokemon go as well!
Fresh Pond Golf Course is a lovely easy walkable 9 hole course with pretty views and fun holes.
The staff were not very friendly and I was double charged for my round of golf. When I called to tell them I was double charged they told me they did not know how to fix it. The course itself was nice but I will be spending my money elsewhere in the future.
It is a great municipal course in super condition.
Am I allowed to fish in the pond ?
Great course for beginner's, well kept and on the cheaper side.
Cambridge city 9 hole course. Priced reasonable and fun to play..
Good
Always pleasant.
Beautiful place near the city
Great 9 hole course.
Beautiful but occupies far too much municipal space for the small elite that it serves (<10,000 members vs 2 Million on the public park around it that covers 1/5th as much publicly useable land...)
Scaled higher since it's a muni so don't come expecting a fast round. I'd score 3.5 if possible. The course is well maintained, greens are in good shape and the layout is reasonably challenging while still easy enough to score when you're playing well. I'll buy the 10 play card next time I go. Update: I’ve since signed up for annual passes a couple of years running & will again next year. These guys were fantastic all through that strange 2020 season - kept the course in good shape, especially the greens. Covid rules required reservations for all tee times, was a bit of a pain at first (I’d gotten used to just showing up at any old time convenient for me) but works out better overall. And best of all, they were great about keeping things clean and reminding folks to wear their masks. Thanks to Bob & the crew!
So close to the city!
9 hole municipal course in Cambridge. The course is fun yet challenging at times. Not in the greatest condition but it's reasonably priced for what you get.
Good course. Well manicured. Parking situation is abysmal. Golf shop staff and starter extremely standoffish and unfriendly but I’ve found that to be the norm at public courses in Boston. Not good embassadors for the game. Get it together guys! Learn how to be personable.
Conditions were surprisingly great for this early in the season. Course was healthy and dry.
Course was in great shape
Great golf place.
A bit of an oasis in busy Cambridge. Great golf instructors and a community feel. Parking on premise could be a little challenging.
Great course, fair value. Almost always gets backed up on the 6th/7th, but thats because of the layout. Otherwise, awesome.
Very good for the price. Wish it was 18, but love playing 9 here.
What a gem of a golf course in Cambridge. They do a great job maintaining a public course like this. Great value even though it's only nine holes.
I absolutely like walking around Fresh Pond early in the morning you meet some nice people in your travels test yourself to see how far you can go with the morning fresh air it is a great place to run jog all just walk it is a beautiful place in the morning an early afternoon also enjoy
Went on a Monday ~1:00pm. I called ahead to check how busy they were and the person who answered the phone let me know about the league timings and that I should be perfectly fine if I come in then. This was the week after maintenance week, so I expected things to not be perfect yet...but they were better than I would have thought. Tee boxes were a bit sandy, but not bad at all. Greens were in pretty good shape too. Not perfect, but I've certainly seen worse at other courses. Price is reasonable. $23/9 & $33/18 on the weekdays. It's first-come-first-serve, but that wasn't an issue at all. I came alone and was able to play by myself right away without any interruptions. There was a group a few holes ahead of me, and another single behind me. Everybody's pace was good and there were no issues. Course ranger was out on the course riding around and checking in, we chatted a bit and he was a very nice guy. I'm a new golfer, and the course was a good balance between difficulty and not getting me frustrated. Overall, I was very pleased with my first experience at Fresh Pond Golf. I'll be back for sure.
Difficult municipal course that could be great if it was better maintained.
This municipal golf course is currently closed for the winter. However, on mild days before the first snowfall, you can see golfers carrying their clubs around the course.
Great location. Course is very well maintained. Not the longest course, but challenging nonetheless. Greens roll true. For what you pay, it's an excellent value.
Surprisingly nice of a course next to Fresh Pond. Pretty well-kept and a lot of nice views. Only a couple of spots where I usually lose a ball or two. :-)
Great track! Fun and challenging.... This course offers plenty of fairness for newbies and just enough difficulty for us low handicaps. Greens are very slick and well kept. Lots of water, but also very forgiving fairways. If you blow it in the drink, you earned it. It’s a 9 hole course, but entertaining enough to make ya wanna go around again.
I was here today with three close friends. We are young professionals and treated the course very well, following each rule explained to us (ex. keeping our carts 10 feet away from the green at all times). The weather was lovely and the course is beautiful. Very well maintained, well laid out, overall stunning. The only downside of our entire time at the Fresh Pond Golf Course was the rangers unprofessional attitudes. We were aggressively asked for our receipts after being called to the green for our tee time even though we still stood behind the group ahead of us for 5-10 minutes. (This would be a common theme for the day). The ranger continued to watch us tee off the entire time from his golf cart as if we were doing something wrong. A few holes later, we were waiting for the group ahead of us to move down the fairway so we could begin on that hole. Another ranger came over in a golf cart and angrily told us “to move it along because we’re causing a backup.” We informed him that the group ahead of us were in the way so we were waiting for them to move along. He was indignant and stormed off (in his golf cart). He was also driving around the course with a dog which barked frequently and caused quite a disturbance. Two holes later, we were stuck waiting for a hole for 5-10 minutes while the group ahead of us were still teeing off. The same usher drove past them multiple times and didn’t say anything to the group ahead of us about needing “to move it along.” He just drove right on past while we waited for holes 7, 8, and 9. I’ve been golfing for a few years and I’ve never been treated as poorly than by the rangers at the fresh pond golf course. I will definitely not return. There are public golf courses in the area that treat their customers with respect and decency. Please take your money elsewhere. Upon reading other reviews, this seems to be a reoccurring problem with a certain ranger. Unfortunately we did not get the rangers name.
hopefully the old ranger and his dog have found their way out for good. Great golf otherwise.
Great local course, municipal. Bob Carey is friendly, helpful, and efficient. Course is in good shape with some renovations completed this year. Can get busy, but great value.
Just like previous reviews, the pro shop was extremely rude. If this course wasn't so convenient for me I definitely would golf somewhere else. Overall the course is in nice condition but it can often be packed and backed up due to groups being sent out on top of eachother
Great conditions on this hidden gem. Beautiful tree lined holes accent the well maintained fairways. Greens are not marked up at all which is really impressive for the number of rounds they handle a day. Really nice people in the Pro Shop and on the course. My first visit today and I will definitely be back. Take advantage of this spot when you can!
5 stars are not enough! Wish I can give 10 stars for the wonderful staff, well-maintained courses, fair prices, plenty parking, clean facilities, good location in the city. I didn’t get the pro’s name at the shop who was extremely professional, understanding, kind and helpful. Thank you so much. Will be back very soon, and will recommend to everyone
Great bang for buck within Boston metro area.
Such a vast and wasteful use of open space. So muck effort spent in maintaining acres of grass without any opportunities for kids to run through it or friends to gather for a picnic. All so a few guys can hit tiny balls with sticks.
You can play gold here.
Lots of leagues that seem to be running from in the morning till about 9:30 am stop mid day then another on that starts again at 3.
Disgusting service!!!!!
Enjoyable local 9-hole public golf course. Tee times almost always start when scheduled and the pro shop has a great assortment of golf gear. I play here a couple times a month and intend to continue returning.
