Living Landscapes

Northlands is a stunningly beautiful golf course. This is a target golf course, not long but you need to hit it straight, otherwise you'll be in the tree's with the bears! Conditions are always excellent and the greens are near perfection. This is a must play in the lower mainland.

Played today in a foursome with experienced golfers. The course didn’t look busy. Back at Northlands after. 20 year absence. I won’t be going back to Northland...ever. For a golf course Marshall to say that I should finish a round of golf in 4 hours is bullsh*t. I’m out there to enjoy the outdoors and my friends. I’m not going to go sprinting around a mountain course just so the course can push more tee times for revenue. That doesn’t benefit me at all so forget it. Why don’t you move the tee boxes closer to the green and put the flag in the middle so we can save a extra few minutes. I’m contemplating drafting a letter to the GM voicing my displeasure. Total BS and there are lots of other courses out there. I hope Northlands gets sold to a developer and get rid of this course. Mr GM I want a refund of my green fee!!!! Thank you.

What a beautiful Golf Course the fairways are like carpets and the greens are like pool tables hard and fast. Very reasonable rates for such an excellent Golf Course and the food was delicious. If you can play a decent game and you don't mind a few blind holes. Also you might want to rent a cart as it's very up and down.

Large group of us, didn't appear to be really anything else going on besides one other large group. Well booked in advance. Servers were unprepared. Even the glasses at the tables didn't match the number of places. Food came out of order, some people were done when others hadn't eaten. Servers didn't know what person had requested what meal. Sitting outside the heaters weren't prepared or tested ahead of time. Food was passable at best. Besides running out of vanilla ice cream and chicken wings... Burger was way overdone, nachos were bland and cold. Everything else was alright. Just not what I would expect from a golf club at that location near the end of the the busy season. Will not come back.

Pretty challenging municipal golf course. The patio views are awesome, esp. At sunset. A few deer roam the course, and sometimes, a rogue black bear meanders across tour path. Helps your physical fitness if you walk this course, its a cardio workout. Or take a cart.

This is a really lovely course, beautiful setting, well maintained. I am rating the course lower as management has unrealistic expectations about the time to complete 18 holes. They want everyone to do it in 4 hours, even when golf carts (which are almost a must as there is a lot of hills to climb) are not allowed on the fairways, causing constant back and forth from the cart path to your ball. For average golfers this is very difficult, and in each of the last two times we played there we were asked by the marshalls to skip portion of a hole - "directive from management " we were told. So if you happen to have a not great golfer in your foursome, you will not be able to play the entire course! I am not going to golf there anymore as a result. We played in 4 hours and 10 minutes when it happened last to us :-((

And i was only 19 at the time and since then have moved onto Government IT jobs in multiple provinces and now work with the University of British Columbia. I just wanted to give a shout to the maintenance crew there (If any of you are still working here from those days) and will have to make a trip over to play one day. Oh i remember back in the day this course was $25-30 a round in 1996! geez how time fly's... Be safe all in 2021! Cheers :)

Beautiful and challenging course and usually time for a beer or two on the patio for our group of 12-15 golfers. However, last week was strange. Very few people around but we were treated quite rudely and told that we were supposed to book in advance. Eventually sorted but left a bad taste

Beautiful course, challenging layout, well maintained. The landscape is unforgiving and makes for a difficult round if you don't hit the fairways. Easy to book tee times online. 4 hour rounds are recommended but not enforced. I've played behind plenty of slower groups and not much is done about it. Good value, would recommend.

This course is very pretty and has a great little pro shop with an exclusive contract with Nike golf. Very professional staff even the Marshall is nice. The course is well maintained and has a relaxing laid back atmosphere - it's very scenic and has tons of parking. One of the best courses in the city

Its a beautiful and challenging course. The views and layout is spectacular. I love having a beer and food on the clubhouse deck looking over the course. There is quite a bit of elevation change so be prepared. The only criticism I have which is common to many courses theses days, is the often slow pace of play. It may be worth the suffering though.

Really one of the nicest public golf courses in the Lower Mainland. Setting on the side of the mountain is amazing, every hole has a view, many are sweeping views of the city, or the ocean or both. The course gets dry before others in the city, and is very playable from early March onwards for the most part. Although due to its elevation, there are colder temperatures and precipitation becomes snowy or hail like versus rain in the city. The course is challenging enough with a 71.9 rating and 139 slope. Long enough too at around 6500 yds; although you will find significant elevation changes if you are walking the course; which is very doable. Very well manicured, and beautiful west coast setting. Facilities are very good with full featured restaurant, proshop and carts, pros, and service otherwise. Practice facilities include a hitting net but no range, short game area and two large practice putting greens. Price per round is acceptable for a course of this caliber. I play here at least 3-4 times per season, but should probably do more.

The Marshall’s and their manner of communication is dreadful. Do not play this course if you want to enjoy a relaxing round of golf. We were told to speed up at least 5x by the starter and the Marshall on the 1st few holes. The Marshall sits in his cart by the greens to tell you to hurry up constantly. Our carts and watch showed we were keeping pace. The course maintenance crew deserve a 5star rating, but the hospitality of the staff on and off the course is horrendous. At the turn we were 2mins off the pace, and the Marshall once again drove over just to tell us to hurry up. 2 minutes! I’ve golfed for 40 years, if someone is 2 mins off the pace tell them to have a great time, smile, and keep on driving past.

I consider Northlands my home course and I play it at least once a week. I play it every month of the year, weather permitting. The course is consistently well maintained and in great shape. It rewards good shots and provides extra challenges when a poor shot is hit. All the pro shop staff are great, always pleasant and helpful. Always look forward to my time at the course. Everytime I golf this course I'm astounded that this is a local muni. Greens are sharp, fairways clean and management is superb at keeping the pace of play. The course is always busy and with the challenging terrain, its huge that every time I play, whether hitting bombs, or burners, 4hrs is always achievable with the great marshals on course. Tack on a ridiculous patio for post howler round bevvies and tasty eats it's hard to find a better place to be in the lower mainland for golf, laughs, a view and tasty treats.

First time here. Little pricey compared to other courses I've been to but it's a beautiful course with varied terrain and had pristine greens. Would highly recommend if you are a competent golfer.

Challenging course with a lot of variety and change of terrain. Walking this course is tough and carting is advisable for most golfers. The greens are in great shape and the fairways are excellent. This course is not suitable for high handicappers. It is too hard with lots of uneven lies and rough off the fairways.

Very nice golf course. Marshalls will Constantly bother you about pace of play. If you play in the morning you need to play “well under four hours” even if nobody behind you is waiting. Kind of ruins the experience. Group finished in 4 hours and was still bothered by the marshalls 4 times in the first 6 holes.

Well maintained course but if you don't like being bothered by marshals constantly through your round pick one of the many other courses that are just as nice if not nicer in the lower mainland. Marshals bothered us about pace of play 4 times on the front 9 meanwhile we were keeping up to the group in front of us. Also being bothered about vaping on the course was just the icing on the cake. I get not being allowed to smoke cigarettes on the course due to fire risk and litter but being bothered about vaping is overboard if you ask me. Won't be going back to this course ever again; fully willing to drive to Langley or surrey from North Vancouver not to deal with these clowns. Will also warn all my other golf friends who haven't already experienced this not to attend this course.

Really nice course to play. During the summer months it can be a little annoying to have the marshalls constantly pressuring you about pace. You pay good money to play and it makes it hard to enjoy and relax when your constantly under pressure to hurry.
