If you play golf and live in the Ottawa area, you can't afford NOT to join Club EG. I have encouraged all my golf pals to join and every one of them have expressed thanks for the heads up and agree that after just a few rounds, their membership(s) have paid for themselves . . . If you join, make sure to look into the last-minute club - 18 holes on primo courses for as little as $12 (less than a bucket of balls) - you just can't beat it!

Club EG is great value. Most courses around the Ottawa area work with Club EG so savings on green fees can be considerable, especially if you take advantage of the 'last minute' rates. A perfect solution for anyone who does not want to join and play at one club all the time.

I have been a member of ClubEG for several years. There is a good choice of courses go play in the National Capital Region, as well as some courses on the way to Toronto (eg Lindsay, etc.). The camaraderie with other members and the staff is great. The staff is courteous and answer any questions you may have quickly. If you are not a member, give it a try.

Club EG allows you to play at various private courses for member only rates. There are over 50 courses to chose from in both the Ottawa and Gatineau regions. This is a perfect gift for the golfer on your Christmas list. The membership also allows you perks from local businesses and to play in special leagues. The staff are knowledgeable and helpful to all members. Club EG also generously donates memberships to some of the various charities I volunteer for throughout the Ottawa area.

Too many great local courses not on the list. Rockland-Outaouais, Nation, Pakenham, Loch March, for example. Too few spots available to EG at most popular courses. ie Casselview, Sorcier, Cedarhill. Calling at 6:30am to hope you can book a tee-off 4 days hence is a pain in the butt. Membership works for those who aren't fussy about quality and base their selection on price and availability. The Marshes is waaaay over priced and their policy of not allowing to unload your cart at your car in the parking lot at the end of a round even in a driving rain cured me of ever wanting to go there forever. For a casual golfer the value is limited.

My advice is not to waste your time playing the burnt out claptrap Sorcier course. Our four experienced nothing but frustration today, ten fairways pretty much unplayable, leaving us to wish we ended up in the rough so at least there was a little grass under the ball. Uncut, ungroomed greens, so bad that 2 A players and 2 B players failed to make a putt of over ten feet. Tee boxes so hard we just stopped teeing up. A pitiful experience... Man what a waste of time and money.
