Update: I've updated my review from 3 stars to 4 stars after the general manager of the course responded to my feedback about the slow pace of play. I was impressed that they took the time to contact me and demonstrate that they genuinely appear to care about their guests' experience (and feedback.) And, as stated previously, the course itself is beautiful and very well maintained... I have no complaints there and I recommend anyone that wants to play a beautifully maintained course in a gorgeous natural setting check it our for themselves. If it weren't for the pace of play issue we experienced, the course definitely warrants 5 stars (and it's certainly possible that we happened to play on a couple of their busiest days.) And after being "encouraged" to come back and try the course again, I'll update the review again, and hopefully change it to 5 stars (which it deserves for many reasons) if the pace of play improves. ================================================= Brought a friend from the Okanagan to play Sandpiper and the course was, as always, beautiful (despite the smoke!) and well maintained. I would give it 5 stars if it weren't for the pace of play. I've played a few times this year and each time the pace of play slowed down to a dead stop and crawl on the back 9, waiting on every tee box for the group in front of us to tee off as they waited for the group in front of them on the fairway, who were waiting for the group in front of them on the green, and so on and so on and so on. They really need a course marshal to keep people moving. Not sure I'll return given the other options in the valley and frustration from having to wait on literally every tee and fairway on the back nine.
Beautiful course!
Friendly staff. Clean facilities. Beautiful scenery. Greens could have been better. Soggy fairways in places. However, being March, it's a little early to expect perfection.
one of the worst foods ive ever gotten got food poisoning. Went in and was told the chef didnt want to turn on the oven because its too hot. so the establishment decided to serve people day old cold food. worst 60 dollars ever spent. whats the point of hiring a chef that doesn't want to serve hot food? might as well have the waiters make the sandwiches. TRASH
Beautiful Course and the beer cart is always making the rounds
They have really friendly staff and their restaurant is awesome. Good getaway not too far from Vancouver. Another good thing about this golf corse is the fact that you can actually staycation here.
The Sandpiper Golf Course is truly an awesome place to play a round of golf, enjoy a meal, and witness breath taking views. The golf course also features amazing views of bald eagles in November. Overall, I can highly recommend the Sandpiper Golf Course!!
Excellent Golf course with exceptional customer care !!!
The best staff, the best course, the place to arrive early and stay late. Always my pleasure to drive down from the city of north Vancouver.
Always a great 18 to play no matter the weather, the course and environment wraps you in for the long one, you won't even feel the time pass
Went here for an evening walk to look around and I'd like to go golfing here in the summer!
Never seen greens punched in July before… It would’ve been nice for the pro shop to advise us of this before our round, or at least give us a discount off the full price rate. Course was in great condition though, greens were firm and receptive even though they had been punched. Cart service was great, came by at least four times on the course. Overall, as always, I had a great time at Sandpiper.
All seasons have awesome scenery views..course condition is always well maintained...my favorite golf course.
Great short layout with very undulating greens, don't think I had a straight putt. Knowing the greens when to attack certain pins will greatly help your scoring. Rates are a bit high currently with a long drive from the Tri-Cities area and no little extras like water.
The front nine is very tight, lined with tall trees, so the fairways don't get a lot of sunlight, and so the grass is often sparse, almost deadpan in a some areas. The back nine is much better in this regard. The greens are very good but a little hard, with considerable slope, and very fast. The pin placements are sometimes impossible to deal with if you're above the hole. Nice people there, great setting by the river.
We stayed 2 nights, played 3 rounds of golf, ate at the restaurant 4 times and had a great experience every time. Pro shop staff were fantastic and friendly. Every meal was great and the course seems to get better every year. Can’t wait to come back again soon.
Lots of mosquitoes out there greens where punched and sanded and some holes a little flooded . All that said it was a nice round of golf
Love the place, very friendly restaurant with super food and great views.
Nice course
Just to be clear, I didn't play the Sandpiper Golf Course. My photos are for anyone interested in travelling to Rowena's Inn which is truly a special hidden jewel.
Played in the late afternoon and got a beautiful sunset coming from holes 16-18. Awesome location, beautiful course- well maintained and good layout. Definitely worth the drive, and worth checking out!
Great golf course! Hidden gem. Trees are tall and fairways are long. Worth the trip out.
Great course ....Great greens and great big trees
Great course. Awesome views. Tight fairways.
Great golf course with fantastic views. Poured rain the night before and the next morning the course was dry. My shoes didn't have a single speck of mud, didn't slip at all and I wasn't even wearing golf shoes for the round! Room was very nice as well. Highly recommended!
Past few years they ran the tournament for Autism has been amazing always great to be there every year for saccomaniacs
Gorgeous course! Love it.
My family used to play here often. My favorite course...but now it's just too pricey. Beautiful but $45 for last twilight is expensive.
This is where i play all my golf! Sandpiper has to be one of the greenest golf courses in the Fraser Valley with the most spectacular views!
Such a great course to play, and the scenery is beautiful, and peaceful.
You can tell these folks work hard to keep this course in such fantastic shape. Challenging course to play but not too bad. Friendly and helpful staff. I will be back to play again!
Really pretty setting. Helpful staff. Old golf carts. Look forward to playing it again. Priced appropriately.
Good course
Great course, but unfortunate experience. we paid a good chunk of money only to be rushed in our game by the warden. According to our scorecard we were well under the pace of play. We would let people occasionally play through as we were 4 with quite a few 2s behind us. It was made out to sound like we were the ones backlogging the course. Was a bit annoyed after that.
Great course great staff great atmosphere awesome restaurant such an excellent place for a course the views are breathtaking
Should have been on temporary tees last fall. A little late to sand them now. Course is in nice condition, but still has a winter feel. Greens are still quite dormant.
Not too challenging but a nice track with good variety in a beautiful setting.
Great staff, Great golf course, perfect time between groups, maybe some people will say it's a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for, at least try Sandpiper once you will not be disappointed
The best golf experience available in the lower mainland.
October 23rd, 2013; Played Sandpiper today in shorts. No fog here the weather was spectacular. The course is in unbelievable condition, firm fairways and fast greens. You owe it to yourself to get out there and play.....come on it's October and we are golfing!
One of my favorite golf courses to play. Beautiful property and a good challenge. Always worth the drive to play there.
Gorgeous golf course, Excellent Cabins and amazing Service!! My wife and I stayed at Chinook cabin over looking the river and golf course.. If you are looking for a different experience in BC you have to give Sandpiper a try. You won't go anywhere else after :)
The new booking procedures for tee times suck
Very beautiful golf course
Majestic
Perfect course, amazing experience
Course was in great shape.....3rd time golfing here this year and becoming a favorite of mine!!
Really beautiful golf course! ????
Beautiful, well groomed course. The staff is very friendly and the restaurant is cozy.
Nice ambiance and food.
This golf course is absolutely spectacular. The layout is a TON of fun & the greens were so fast and undulating. Conditions were solid all the way around and the price paid on a weekend morning was very reasonable. Absolutely can't wait to go back and try again!
Early morning view looking down 11th fairway. Great course, fantastic scenery
Such a beautiful course. By far the best course in the Fraser Valley.
Sandpiper was an amazing experience for the whole family. The staff were all very helpful, and the service, exemplary. They made the golf, and fishing very convenient, and looked after every detail. Thanks very much to the whole team, for such a great time , we will be back often !
The Standard again today
Good
Great course. Great conditions
Gorgeous location but a few holes were flooded when we went in July 2020 and there was no discount to make up for it. A little pricey, but for the views and the golf, probably worth it!
Poor tee boxes and greens, even though the greens were punched 2 weeks ago the damage is not from that. They seriously need to use water and get this course under control. The scenery is beautiful and it is just a shame.
Awesome
Green fees now $99.95 for weekends and holidays and I’m a platinum member so like $80.00 for me to play on weekend and holidays, but people I golf with are not members and will not play there for that price as it is a long way for them to travel for golf. I wish when I got my membership I knew the rate would increase to where it is now as I was okay with the $79.95 but another $20.00 is a bit much.
Today was very cold out there on the course, but it was great and the course was in great shape. I'll be back when it's warmer ????????
Love this place and atmosphere. Keeps me coming back
Even though the extremely heavy use has continued through this entire COVID year, the Sandpiper grounds crew continues to keep the course in great shape. November 1st photos on a fully booked sunny afternoon!
This is a very very beautiful course. The mature tall trees and the amazing view over the water set this course apart from anything else I've ever played. And it's so close to the city. I'm already planning my next trip out here!
Played here this weekend. Was very disappointed with the condition of greens having recently been punched and no advisory from proshop or starter. This also applies to not being informed there was a temporary green in play by either the pro shop or the starter, or for that matter when phoning in to book. There had been a fair bit of rain leading up to a gorgeous day on Saturday, however the shop (nor the starter) did not inform us that carts were cartpath only, and while the only senior citizen in our group drove, he would have rather not found this rule out halfway down the first hole when the cart starting beeping and alarmin as he would have walked as well. In my opinion it was a very poor opening to a round of golf that takes close to 2 hours to drive from the city. The course is in a gorgeous setting, and was an excellent place to spend 5 1/2 hours playing golf. We did not encounter a players assistant or marshall all day, and cart girl showed up 3 hours in, on the 9th green, without any food. Post round restaurant service and food was wonderful.
Played this course today. Fantastic. One of the best we have played. Fairways perfect, greens rolled great and fast. Friendly staff. Pace of play was decent. Was teamed up with the Parks and Doug. What a great group to be with on our first trip to Sandpiper.
Trevor who is the head pro for the course is such a bonus to have at the company. Really makes you feel like you’re at home when you’re there!! Awesome course, awesome service.
Always a great time at Sandpiper. Great staff and service. Beautiful surroundings.
This course beautiful. Great condition and just the right amount of difficulty Edit: Have gone again multiple times since this review, each time has been perfect. My favourite course at the moment.
VERY VERY BEAUTIFUL~~~!!!!!
beautiful course one of my favorite I've played fantastic course conditions will be back to play many rounds
Currently on the course right now. It's beautiful without a doubt, but the Grounds Crew have absolutely zero respect for the golfers teeing off an/or around the green. I worked grounds crew for years at Pagoda and you always turn the 3500 down when golfers are beside you. The dude with the leaf blower as well, while trying to tee off. Very disappointed.
This place is absolutely terrible, there were some Geese on the course ,not impeding play at all the maintenance guy ran into all of them at full speed in a golf cart killing a couple of them. Sick , there was no reason at all for this , Do not golf here , I am contacting the RCMP about cruelty to animal charges. Stay away from this place not a great course anyway. I wont give them my buisness ever again . Yeah geese can be a pain but to run them over for fun ? Unacceptable.
On our last day of vacation and from ottawa we decided to play a round out here because of the perfect scenery. Anyways couldnt ask for better day and prices as well as the condition of the course. Even with winter coming it was still in great condition. From the big trees to the carpet like fairways along with the occasional slice that knocks off a trunk of one of the huge trees there that truly made a perfect "knock" sound everything was perfect .. Oh ya we even had a f-in plane take a landing right beside us as we were teeing up on the 2nd hole .. was the first time played and def wont be the last .. cheers
With the greens just punched it was a pleasure . Beautiful surroundings. Pace was a touch slow 4 3/4hrs
Food was very good at the Club House Restaurant. They are doing some renovations to the patio, including a native style carving to a tree that was damaged. The views are spectacular and the golf course is top notch!
Here for the Saccomaniacs golf tournament. Incredible course, lush gardens. Saw a plane take off from the lake.
Fantastic course. Very mature large cedars along Harrison River. Great greens.
The greens were punched and we paid regular price. Not right for any golf course to do that. Not happy at all!
Wonderful golf course
Unbeatable beauty, well worth the drive. A coupke of holes are tucked in and trees are very strategically placed. The 17th has an airstrip!!! Awesome river views!
My nephews bday we had a blast we'll be back for sure!
Boutique room and nice to stay.
Amazing resort, with quality golf, restaurant, and cabins to rent. Excited to come back again!
Nice back 9 but frustrating staff. I usually drive out to Sandpiper once or twice a year since it's about an 80 minute drive from where I live. Last week I booked a tee time for 4 people. The 4th person cancelled two days before so I called in to cancel (over 24 hours before the booked time). Rather than giving me a refund, they gave me a "rain check" lol. When I asked to speak to the club house manager Dave, he said that I should have read the fine print haha... Not once have I ever been told to read the fine print. In fact, I had never not received a refund until Sandpiper. Pretty disappointed. I will most likely be back to use the rain check, but after that, I think I could find a nicer course at a similar distance.
Smoky out, greens very were sandy, and the course was quite dry, but still a beautiful course. Great restaurant too
One of my favourite golf courses to visit. Air strip right on the runway, land your plane at the golf course, play a round on a beautiful course, eat delicious food and then fly home. Driving there is cool too, just not as cool.
Beautiful!
Let me start by saying the golf course was great. A challenging course with beautiful views. The people in the pro shop were friendly and pleasant to deal with. What made our day a little sour was the rude personnel at the restaurant. We stopped by at the end of the round to get dinner and experience the food. They asked us to wait outside on the steps. We waited and there was no response so we put away our clubs in our vehicles and returned to wait some more. Servers and bartender knew we were there and gave us glances but not one person came to talk to us. It would have been nice if we were acknowledged. After a while we just left. I will golf here again but have no desire to go back to their restaurant.
Excellent fairways and undulating Greens. Overall a challenging course.
Awesome place. Beautiful BC scenery and course is really fun to play...????
This was an average course with course fees of $75 per person. In addition, if you wanted a cart then add $25 per person per cart. Therefore, each cart can cost up to $50. This is simply unacceptable given that the GPS signal on these carts were not working that day. I realize that since the opening of golf courses following the COVID-19 pandemic, golfers are going to pay through the nose for a round of golf as pro shops are trying to recover loss revenue.
update....... the food was good service we had when we went was good we had Kelly this time and im sorry but rude as sin and ignorant... honestly worst possible person ever to be frank the food was unoriginalplain and no flavour dishes were cold and honestly I wouldn't feed to my dog..... sadly after this huge experience I wouldn't recommend eating in for the price of garbage they serve also I wouldn't come.near this place with that server in site ever I think who ever owns it should maybe think about a huge rehire and get ride of poor staff such as this person and obviously who ever is making food and doing the menu in the kitchen will not recommend to anyone ever now
I play here regularly and the course is in the best shape ever, the fairways and greens are pristine. And the views are breath taking you truly won't regret coming and playing a round here, the food and service is second to none at the clubhouse restaurant. You really need to play this course
The course has some nice scenery but i was a little bit disappointed with the conditions of the course. The greens seemed like they had been punched recently and most teeboxes were filled with sand with very little grass on them. Not to mention most par 4s were pretty short! Overall not a bad course but needs some work.
The course is magnificent , the service......horrible. Hottest day of the year, possibility of it being record breaking and no cart person with beverages and no beverages or food between 9 and 10. By the 16th hole we were dehydrated, hungry and frustrated. There was no warning of this when we teed off. Like I said, absolutely magnificent gf course, challenging and the scenery unmatched. Too bad it was ruined by poor service.
Greens and fairways were in good shape. Not too busy. Good day
Beautiful place, sat out in the Solarium...great atmosphere, even greater view. Delicious food! Had a lovely time!!!
Awesome course, very spectacular views, fun challenging course, that is in great shape even in the winter.
